Todays rip: 10/02/2024
Nostalgic Blood of the Gregg ~ Old Source
Season 5 Featured on: Bloodstained Bounties ~ The SiIvaGunner All-Star Summer Festival 2021 Collection [Event Side]
Ripped by minindo
youtube
Way early into the blog's life, on the 20th of July 2023, I covered the rip Everything Circus - a Season 2 rip featuring one of my all-time favorite channel memes, hhgregg. I didn't cover all too much on the guy back then beyond the basics: The source was sparingly used in Season 1, then gradually received an uptick in popularity until finally earning himself a full-on channel event in Season 5. Last, we covered a rip from before this uptick - now, I think its only fair we tackle one that shows the fruits of that initiative.
The hhgregg meme was one of many that I only discovered through SiIvaGunner, yet it was far from the first to actually popularize it: HydroDalek's "doin" YTPMV was uploaded a year prior to SiIvaGunner's premiere, and sits at a 1.5 million views as of writing, and is of course paired with the excellent remix "ReDoin" by JerryTerry, made two years later, sitting at 2.4 million. hhgregg's infamous attempt at creating a memorable mascot for their brand seemed to at first be met with nothing more than annoyance, only for a subset of internet users to slowly mutate feelings into feelings of...affection, I suppose. Either way, as someone entirely out of the loop on all things relating to American retailers, that affection definitely rubbed off on me - after just being exposed to a small handful of rips, and then later being led to the rabbithole of YTPMVs dating back to 2014, I was hooked on the guy.
And its not something I believe I can put quite so easily into words, either, beyond pointing you to a rip like Nostalgic Blood of the Gregg ~ Old Source for a direct demonstration. Wally Wingert is an excellent actor and performer in perhaps everything BUT his role as singing for hhgregg's Christmas sales of the summer season - yet YTPMVers throughout the last decade have been able to put those vocals, and vocals from the hhgregg mascot's entire television career, to incredible use. It's almost comparable to PSY in what I wrote about him in Korean Idiot - manipulation of hhgregg's distinctively nasally, yet self-assured voice has effectively become an instrument all of its own.
Pair that with the hyperactive yet constantly rhythmic and engaging flow of much of Touhou's music, Nostalgic Blood of the East ~ Old World not excluded, and you get something truly special. Yet the crazy thing is, Nostalgic Blood of the Gregg ~ Old Source was but one of several other incredible rips utilizing the source during Season 5. It was, after all, his long-overdue event - the long-awaited Christmas in July - and the amount of rips that went completely above and beyond just as Nostalgic Blood of the Gregg ~ Old Source did was absolutely remarkable. Speaking as someone who used to get hyped up back during the early days of seeing...what, the fourth or fifth ever hhgregg rip be uploaded? It did genuinely bring me so much excitement to finally see the most underrated SiIvaGunner source get the spotlight all to himself. hhgregg is, in all honesty, an oft-overlooked titan of recent YTPMV culture, a shining example of just how far some crazy cool people are able to take a series of voice clips that only initially spread online out of distaste.
Though I lack much knowledge on Touhou, and I wasn't really able to live through any prior attachment to the hhgregg character as a European myself - the sheer power of good ass YTPMV and minindo's undeniable talent in what he does carries Nostalgic Blood of the Gregg ~ Old Source through. It's an absolute banger using one of my all-time favorite SiIvaGunner sources, and I'm so happy it got to be part of the guy's big event. In a Season already defined by its various side events, hhgregg's long-awaited time in the spotlight is still one of the things I cherish most about Season 5, and the rips that came in tow with that day were absolutely worth the wait.

Recap of Boys Planet Episode 1, Part 2
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b40d769406680dbfa40cfffb18b0e334/da6f2c438a319c2b-17/s540x810/245b54e9a4279ef750bf6e12259838a60ef984c9.jpg)
Part 1 was here. On to part 2!
Team USA performing Rush Hour
At about 58:00 in, it’s time for USA’s own Jay and Kamden to come back out. Jay is jabbering nervously in English as they come out from backstage. The trainees in the Space Council seem excited for USA to perform. One of the dance judges calls USA “Father, mother” (either that or he’s remember the words he learned in first year English class?).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b466e51b670c59fa4ad73d530fcff911/da6f2c438a319c2b-ef/s540x810/ac77672237614c1e98436164438d4f034ec685e8.jpg)
The trainees are impressed with Jay and Kam’s swag. Wait until they hear them sing.
My take:
They’re really fucking good. I don’t have to explain this, right? They’re just actually good. They sing well, and perform well, on a singing/performance competition show, ahhh what a relief. Watch the Youtube version if you want to figure out how really really good Kamden is too. I don’t know why they focus so much more on Jay -- Kam kills it just as much. Jay does have a lovely vocal color, but Kamden does too!! I will also point out that Jay’s initial acapella singing was off key, but he must have been really nervous and exhausted.
The judges give Jay 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and Kam only 3 ⭐⭐⭐, which is stupid and wrong because Kam also should get 4 stars. Whatever.
The judges notice that the American kids know to bow 90 degrees. Hey, there’s a lot that goes into successful Kpopping. Bow a lot, future foreign kpoppers. When it doubt, bow.
At 1:00:34 the judges say that it’s time for a break, so it’s time for the trainees to go adjust their makeup and talk about how handsome and talented everyone is, and whether they think K or G will win the day. Feel free to skip to 1:02:00 for the next segment:
Yuehua K versus Yuehua G.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/39ec5815892d07aa40b763ccf60184e5/da6f2c438a319c2b-cc/s540x810/7dd37d499453897e26ff6960731d401d3c1cbea8.jpg)
G on the left, K on the right.
I assume that the long term plan here is for all (or most) of these eight boys to debut as one group down the road; that would be smart, because we’d know them all at least a little bit, and many of them are fairly memorable. I bet that would work -- We really have no way to know how well they know each other -- do they train together in Korea? Hard to be sure. But the impression I get is that they do know each other, and while they’re feeling competitive right now, I think they are also cheering for each other deep down. I mean, look at Brian (fourth from the left) grinning at the others.
Ji Yun Seo, fifth from the left, says that the K-members are a bit better, again suggesting that they know each other a bit. Ricky (blonde) trash talks back in a combination of Korean and English. The trainees in the Space Council are edited to seem anxious about all of this.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/affd3852c8766dcdd3f63194e90e6a04/da6f2c438a319c2b-1b/s540x810/0ff2f74f23917dcbe081c127db673cdbe012383d.jpg)
Kick It (G)
Zhang Hao: 22 years old, Chinese: “I’m the musical prodigy and ace leader.”
Ricky: 18 years old, Chinese (in English): I’m young and rich, tall and handsome, Ricky.”
Ollie: 16 years old, Chinese. “I’m your chocolate! Ollie is the youngest.”
Brian: 20 years old, Canadian “I’m Brian, with a soft voice.”
Hao and Ricky tell the Space Council that Ollie is nervous and get the trainees to cheer for him, which they do willingly. He’s cyoo!!
Ollie is wearing the same overalls that Yuehua’s Justin wore in Season 2 of PD101.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6d5dba3e9d297a950def825906ebf39a/da6f2c438a319c2b-61/s400x600/8d4b26ed954b03a6e7dbc9729c5997903f77880f.jpg)
Everyone says that Brian is handsome, even the MNET editing team, who give him a halo.
The judges ask Hao about his “prodigy” status, and he explains that he can play a lot of instruments and in fact studied music in university. I love it when an idol has genuine musical talent. A staffer brings out his “not that expensive” 10 million won violin (about $7,500) and he plays beautifully. Everyone enjoys the moment of classiness. And then… we begin.
My take: I sort of fell in love with this song when it was performed by Seo Young Eun and Yoon Ji A in Girls Planet 999. I know, N-citizens are like, wut, but yeah. I did. Now I like it a lot, and have opinions as to how it should be performed.
If you don’t do that arms up over your head movement to “New thangs! New thangs!” with the right kind of ominous, confident energy, then why do it at all?
And for me, none of them really did it quite right. Ricky has a look like he should be able to do it, but somehow, he fell a bit flat for me on stage. I bet they were all nervous, though. Ricky did that cool flip, they all had variable facial expressions, and all of them kept up the energy. Really, they all did fine, just not superb.
Zhang Hao: He made eye contact with the camera, which a lot of other trainees were nervous to do. Obviously the best singer in the group, and he held that long note accurately -- but it didn’t exactly sound nice, if you catch me. Still, I can see why the judges give him 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐-- it’s not unearned.
Ricky: He has a strange charisma, where he looks great in still photos, but somehow falls flat when he’s moving. I think he must have been a lot more nervous than he even seemed, so I’ll kind of cut him a bit of slack and see what else he can do. I think 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐ was more than fair for that -- if they had given him 2 I wouldn’t have been shocked, but maybe they bumped it up for his flippy flip.
Ollie: Rapped very clearly, with good pronunciation on the English and what I assume was good pronunciation on the Korean. I was actually wondering if he might have spent some time in the US or Canada, and all I can find is that he was a child model, so he might have traveled around a lot. Three stars ⭐⭐⭐ again seems fair.
Brian: Did a decent job dancing and was mostly on key/rhythm singing. He’s on his way, for sure. The judges give him 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐, which seems right, though I think some others with similar performances got lower scores.
Backstage, the Korean Yuehua trainees note that the G-group did the same as when they (the K group) were “monitoring them” -- again implying that they train in the same building, and maybe just split up when they were prepping for this show.
The judges hand out their stars, and the G-group members congratulate Hao (Ollie calls him Hyung, like a Korean kid would) and the other three try to be ok with their three stars. Hao vows that all four will get 4 stars next time.
Kick It (K)
Now it’s time for the K-group to come out and also perform Kick It. Let’s get it! (1:11:10)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/940288f237a164f8bdc3fca69dd73700/da6f2c438a319c2b-46/s500x750/584ff7ef4d52ecde2324515f806d6509c6372905.jpg)
When they come out, the G-group Yuehua teams waves to them cheerfully from their seats in the Space Council.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cfa217b97c31fc2db14c898c6eb51efd/da6f2c438a319c2b-3e/s540x810/ebd9095fb466c6ddb4367dfa2c17a65b53e46638.jpg)
Yeah, they’re totally buddies.
K group introduce themselves:
Ji Yun Seo: (18) ”I’m the energetic Dragon leader!”
Yoo Seung Eon: (19) “The main vocalist with a titanium voice.”
Han Yu Jin: (15) “the lovely charismatic golden maknae”
Kim Gyu Vin: (18) “the genius you want to see every day.”
The judges tease them about their supposed rivalry with the other half of Yuehua. Apparently, the G-group Yuehuas said that “our youngest” Han Jujin was the most likely to win an allstar. Han Yujin checks their formation before they get started and then we get down to it.
They do a brief intro first, featuring what must be original choreo, and then launch into their version of Kick It.
My take:
Yoo Seung Eon really does have a fantastic voice - I think he strains a bit and could benefit from additional training, but that’s the kind of feedback someone gets when they’re actually good, like he is. He dances better than some working main vocalists, too. His mic pack seemed to come loose for him (and for most of this group) and he delt with it pretty well. For me, he was the ace of this group, but you know. MNET hates vocalists. You’ll do a great job in the Yuehua boy group that will debut in 2024, Seung Eon. I’m already a fan.
Han Yu Jin is of course really great at dancing, and his one line was sung correctly. For me, there was something, I don’t know, stiff? one note?? about his dancing that was slightly off putting, and I don’t think he did the New Thangs part correctly. But he is a tiny baby and he’s just going to keep getting better and better with more training.
Ji Yun Seo danced with power and precision, and his singing voice was pleasant enough. I don’t have a ton to say, but really, he’s very good.
Kim Gyu Vin is a really good dancer. I’d watch a fancam of his. His mic pack came loose right at the beginning and that’s such a fucking bummer because I think it inhibited him a bit. But you still see his power, his charisma, his attention to detail. He did that New Thangs move correctly, looking down into the camera the whole time, so good. He only sang one line, and his vocal color is kind of foggy, but he’s on key and on rhythm -- exactly what you want from a main dancer.
The Yuehua-G group seems proud of their chingoos, and say, basically, that they feel like they didn’t know quite how good they were until now.
MNET’s editing is hyper focused on Han Yu Jin for whatever reason, and the judges tell him he dances like one of them, so that’s big. I understand why the judges were so excited about him -- that good that young! They ask him to freestyle, and he does a freestyle popping-heavy routine that leaves the other trainees wondering how he could be that good.
The judges are about to award their stars when Gyu Vin asks to do something else for them, specifically dance to REVEAL by The Boyz. He takes off his shoes, he’s so into it. I think he does great with this performance, too, though I can’t really tell through the editing.
Ok, so I was watching his performance, and I said to myself, “Self,” I said, “there’s a boy who idolizes Kai from Exo.” I looked it up, and turns out I was right -- Kai is in fact one of his idols. So, good job, me.
All four of them are given All Star ranking⭐⭐⭐⭐, and I can’t disagree with any of that. The judges act as if Gyu Vin’s dance to REVEAL put him into 4 star territory, but for me Kick It already did that. The G-group Yuehua teammates seem sincerely happy for the other four. Zhang Hao in particular seems emotionally touched.
And, yeah, overall, I’m excited for all eight of these boys to hopefully end up in a group together. I like all eight of them and think that together they’d be better than apart.
1:23:55 Next Segment: My House
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b4e4c508e9b098c9dd97e4859dc4d436/da6f2c438a319c2b-99/s540x810/0ea556daa0a57738d0925ea866fc26666393491e.jpg)
Everyone is excited when the Cube trainee comes out, and it turns out to be Bak Do Ha, in his blue satin shirt. The camera tries to zoom in on the quarter inch of exposed chest we can almost see between his lapels. Sexy sexy satin! He haltingly introduces himself by saying “With a cute face but a voice that isn’t,” which I think is a reference to his voice being deep.
He’s here to perform My House, by 2PM. This is a great song and if you’re not familiar with the original, go check it out. It’s great. The whole thing with this song is that the 2PM guys are all tall -- between 5’10 and 6’1 -- and were all fairly mature when it came out in 2015 -- they would have been between 25 and 28. It’s like, “hey pretty lady, we’re both adults, let’s go home together. Take my hand, let’s go.” The choreography is a little silly looking, so you have to deliver it with all the confidence of an ostrich doing its mating dance.
20-year old Bak Do Ha is not as confident as an ostrich, because he’s not as good a dancer as an ostrich, and he has one of those uncomfortable deep voices that are a little hard to coax into melody. Good looking guy, though, and he seems to charm Lip J into wanting to take his hand, but mostly what his dance inspires is laughter. Perhaps they’re not exactly laughing at him, though -- they’re laughing at “the other guy.”
That’s when we, the audience, find out that what actually happened, in real time, was this: red-shirt wearing 23-year-old Jung Min Gyu, from an agency I’ve never heard of called CABIN74, came out first, performed My House by 2pm, and then shortly thereafter, Bak Do Ha came out and did the same song. But for no real reason, the MNET editors were just like WHAT IS TIME? WHAT IS CHRONOLOGY? and decided to tell the story in flashback.
So now we get to see Jung Min Gyu’s attempt. It’s even worse than Doha’s version, for kind of the same reasons -- he seems embarrassed of the song, embarrassed of his sexy satin shirt, embarrassed to be singing and dancing in front of judges. He seems relieved when they laugh at him, because he had expected them to be silently angry. Poor guy. CABIN74 is a newish agency, and mostly made news for signing, and then losing, a member of T-ARA. I think they mostly have actors under their banner, and maybe this guy really wants to be an actor. I mean, I hope he does. He claims his specialty is “Changing facial expressions quickly” and that his favorite song is by Barry Manilow. So, yeah. It would make sense if he were trying to be an actor, not really an idol.
The other thing about their performances is that this choreography, like a lot of choreography, looks really silly all by itself. Perhaps because of this, the judges ask Mingyu (red) to come up and join Doha (blue) and they dance together -- Mingyu takes off his shoes because they’re “slippery” -- and it’s obvious to everyone that they look much better together than they did on their own…. but that they’re still not good.
Apparently this moment has gone viral, and I mean, sure, it was fun.
My take is that it’s not good in a genuine way -- I feel like we’re laughing at them, not with them. I think it was mean to have either of them perform alone and it was mean to give them this song. That’s my take.
Both trainees get zero stars, which is harsh but fair.
1:31:57 Team Hot
This Chinese team wearing red outfits consists of Wang Yan Hong, 24, and Yang Jun, 23. Neither appears to be signed to an agency.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fe9b79f45d375d66f9880556b2314ade/da6f2c438a319c2b-c3/s400x600/4b5327af0ae01832f45494b7dd89157565cc8ba4.jpg)
My take:
Yeah, this isn’t so good. They wander from the key and rush the rhythm really badly, the high notes are too high for them, and they have not great vocal color. They aren’t synchronized in their dancing, and this choreo looks silly done by done two people instead of 13. They are committed and have decent facial expressions, and they don’t laugh or otherwise undercut themselves, but yeah, this isn’t great.
But I think the reason that people kind of like this performance in a weird way (the existence of this video argues that point) is that they’re human beings trying their best, doing something they’re maybe not that great at. There’s something charming about a real human. Yoo Seung Eon from Yuehua, the one with the “titanium voice,” seems somehow super human when he sings. Maybe we don’t always want titanium idols; we want idols who are flesh and blood. Hence the fame of William Hung, hence the win of Kim So-hye in PD101-1, hence the rise of singing groups in kpop who really can’t sing (I shall name no names because I enjoy being alive).
Oh boy, the MNET editing makes them look even worse. Anyone would look bad if you interrupt and replay 2 seconds every 5 seconds. In the full-cam Youtube version, you can hear that the Space Council cheers when Yan Hong and Jun finish, but in the MNET editing, they end to complete silence. I don’t know why MNET editing, and the judges, went so hard against these two. They weren’t that much worse than anyone else. Yes, they earned their zero stars fairly, but there was no reason to be so cruel. They were gentle with Jung Min Gyu, the red-shirted My House performer -- maybe because he’s Korean.
Criminal I
Next up is Lee Dong Gun, one of two trainees who audition with Taemin’s Criminal.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d4e19f27f49532caf33ebe7b986a960e/da6f2c438a319c2b-c7/s500x750/ac53abd69a8ff9977d4525ce5e2354ffe83e422e.jpg)
Donggun is only 17 and admires both of the male dance masters, and is clearly here in his capacity as a dancer. No mention is made of his young age, or his bravery at performing alone, or the difficulty of trying to do a cover of a song originally performed by arguably the best dancer in all of kpop. Nope, no reason to mention any of that. Instead, let’s play only his worst high notes, edit it to make it comical and insulting, and then focus on the judges saying things like he was never on key for a single moment.
You guys, check out the full cam on youtube. He’s 90% on key for the first minute or so, and yeah, after the one minute mark it goes off the rails. But watch it on mute if you have to. His dancing is good. These are intricate, strange, varied movements he’s doing, and he’s doing it with commitment and bravery. The notes are wrong, but he sings them with some lung strength. Compare his singing to that of Haruto, who the judges inexplicably gave a 4-star rating despite his horrible, terrible, no good singing. Compare Donggun’s singing to that of Taemin or Kai when they debuted, or Sehun when… now. Sehun now. (Sorry, all. I’m Exo-L, I’m allowed to say this.)
Heck, compare Donggun’s singing to that of any MR removed performance of pretty much any non-SM boy group. Enhypen springs to mind as a group whose MR removed videos don’t exactly show them in a great light. Why? Because they’re DANCERS. I like Enhypen a lot, and will delightedly watch Niki and Jay fancams. But I don’t fool myself that they’re singers. Come on, Engenes, you know it’s true.
So my point is…. I guess my point is, I don’t know why I put myself through watching these shows. The judging is so random and the editing is so awful. Why does Haruto get off scot free and they come down so hard on poor Donggun? I don’t get it.
Anyway, they give Donggun 1 star ⭐.
Then we get a montage of bad singers, none of whom are as bad as Haruto was. We see:
Jeon Woo Seok, performing Criminal
Wen Ye Chen, part of the Call Me Baby team
Jang Min Seo and Jung Se Yun Performing Damdadi by Golden Child, their Woolim sunbaes
Osuke and Yuki performing Crown by TXT
Then we get a montage of harsh judges comments about their singing, followed by a general admonition to the Space Council to be better singers, which pisses me off for a lot of reasons.
First off, there’s nothing they can do about it right now, you dumb dumbs. It’s probably 2 or 3 in the morning, and they’ve been there for 22 hours. They’re 16 or 18 or 20 years old. They’re terrified and undertrained. You yelling at them will not make them better singers, right now, in the remaining minutes or hours before they stand before you.
Also, and while I hold the opinion that Kpop singing has gotten terrible across the board and I would like to see more groups like EXO who can actually fucking sing, like is that too much to ask??, I also know, as these boys must know, that singing in Kpop is low key optional. Hell, look at how the MNET editing is already pushing Haruto at us and hiding how bad his singing is. If I were them, I’d be genuinely angry to be yelled at at this point.
Anyway. Deep breaths.
I watched all four of these performances so you don’t have to. Let me give you the dealie.
Criminal II performed by Jeon Woo Seok
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5cda713d575a2be6426faa5d30cbb34d/da6f2c438a319c2b-73/s640x960/19eec8dfbaeb338a3761f2b91ba986c9ae6f9676.jpg)
He was really committed to the performance -- I mean, peep the bare feet, the binding on his hands, and expression. He had his hands tied together for the whole first half, and tore off his binding with his teeth. If you watch it on mute, it all actually looks pretty good! I bet his idol Taemin would see something to complement here. Watch the position of his hands and feet -- he really is doing the thing. He’s 19 years old and he dances some difficult choreography with maturity and grace. He doesn’t crack up or giggle at having to be sexy. He just does it. He had the same commitment that Shim Seungeun had when she did Paradise Lost in GP999.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/091aeae1ae78d73e8d95fc291044aef5/da6f2c438a319c2b-a2/s500x750/d3cd7374852076149d22036fcfa1267e2187d91b.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7648c3fd0007f9b92351f2b8a8dc16d7/da6f2c438a319c2b-8a/s400x600/62f2b09a69b1a2ff265734d96d8533cb2e4b7c78.jpg)
Yep, his singing was in fact, egregious. Both off key and off rhythm. Unforgivably bad. But Haruto’s was worse. The judges were just wrong to give him 0 stars.
Call Me Baby
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cbe6491f68ac800cd390603231f6a1a0/da6f2c438a319c2b-01/s540x810/e4258360fa0074a8920e852693d9bbe22d6ce435.jpg)
Krystian, 23, was also on Youth With You 3, and was regarded very well on that show. Judges gave him 2 stars ⭐⭐.
Wen Ye Chen is 22. The judges gave him 1 star⭐. His finger looks weird in the picture because he was moving.
Chen Yu Geng, 24, is also known as Crayon. The judges gave him 1 star ⭐.
Chen Jian Yu, 24, got 1 star ⭐.
My take:
As a big Exo-L, I didn’t hate their performance. I love this song -- in fact, it might be my favorite Exo title track??? -- but I’m the first to admit the choreo is really weird, and for the most part, I think these guys pulled it off. I won’t say seek it out and watch it, but it’s really not that bad.
Wen Yu Chen was the main vocalist, and he was stepping in the footsteps of vocal giants. Who among us can sing Kyungsoo’s “Hey girl”? For the majority of the time, he was totally on key and fine, you guys. His voice sounded a bit thick to me, the way people’s voices sound when they’re straining or a little sick. But he hit a lot of the notes and danced the steps. I think 2 stars would have been fairer.
Krystian was a little flat, but he actually has a nice husky vocal color, and there’s something sort of just compelling about him. I looked into him, and on Youth With You he auditioned as a rapper. I think that he stepped up to the plate to sing because someone had to, and did his best. I’m glad he got 2 stars -- it could have been worse.
Crayon and Jian Yu didn’t stand out to me in any particular way, but weren’t ear shattering or anything.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e129f168b8d42fa14692cb4dc2d5993c/da6f2c438a319c2b-c2/s540x810/e6f85e22a86425cd6cf759ac5acdd84a28a3d820.jpg)
Damdadi performed by Jang Min Seo (16, left) and Jung Se Yun (15, right).
Jang Min Seo has already left the show, citing extreme knee pain, but maybe it was because the judges were so cruel to him and to Se Yun. Se Yun is the third youngest on the whole show, just a month older than Takuto and 5 months younger than Yuehua’s monster rookie Han Yu Jin. Like, hey, if you’re going to have high school sophomores on this show, can you at least not be mean to them?
I wasn’t familiar with this song, but I listened to the original and I feel like they were doing their best to emulate their sunbaenim. The song was well chosen for them, youthful and cute, and I think they brought nice energy to it. They both danced so hard their nametags fell off! I think they both had a little trouble with some of the footwork, and lost their balance a few times. But they both stayed on key as far as I could tell, and Se Yun rapped really fast. And if Min Seo was in horrible knee pain, you can’t really tell in the audition -- he keeps smiling. Poor kids.
The judges gave them both zero stars. I think 1 star would have been fair.
Crown by TXT performed by Osuke (19, darker hair) and Yuki (21, lighter hair), both from Japan
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e6e11344f38ba00d664db201f190c73e/da6f2c438a319c2b-5f/s500x750/07724037000a8c36f77b0027689b520a545e330f.jpg)
Ah, what a great song. Not a great performance.
Sometimes they sang sharp, sometimes they sang flat. They may have had trouble finding the key since it had been transposed lower. When you’re used to a song in a certain key, as they probably are used to the original version of this song, it’s hard to switch to a different key sometimes. You have to take your cue from what you’re hearing in your headset, and maybe they had trouble doing that. Or maybe they just have trouble… you know… singing.
The dancing felt kind of cursory to me, as well. If you’re going to make a heart with your hands or arms, you have to do that long enough and with enough sharpness that I can get a screenshot of it.
Osuke got 1 star⭐, and I’m not sure how he was better than Jeon Woo Seok (who performed Criminal barefoot).
Yuki got 0 stars, which seems fair.
Ok, so our “bad singers montage” is over. The judges congratulate themselves on having yelled at their young trainees.
1:38:25 Final Stretch
The sun has set (filming began in early December, so if the sun was setting it was around 5pm) and many trainees have not yet auditioned. Assuming an average of 2 trainees per song and 10 minutes per audition, it would take around 500 minutes (8 hours, 20 minutes) to see them all. Hey, here’s a thought, MNET -- film this over two days. You could make them all wear the same clothes for the two days and pretend like you filmed it all on one day, but just give it two days so you aren’t filming until 3am and making your young trainees sick.
All I Wanna Do
Next up is Seok Matthew, from Canada. Brian, the Canadian Yuehua trainee, cheers loudly, and other trainees seem very welcoming. The judges say he looks like Xiumin, validating me at a level I had not expected.
What do you all think? Does Matthew look like Xiumin?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ecf7a052e486682cc4525cb16cdeffb0/da6f2c438a319c2b-2e/s250x250_c1/76529df9a85946ed446317de56b0fc959b747488.jpg)
Before Matthew can perform, we get a flashback to earlier in the day. Turns out that Sung Han Bin, who will be performing next, knows Matthew from when they trained at Cube together. (Which also suggests that they might both know Hui.) Hyung Hanbin is super supportive of Matthew, and waits back stage as Matthew performs.
My take:
Overall, I think he’s great. He sounds a bit sharp to me a lot of the time, which could be nerves -- he really did sound nervous. He has a lot of charm somehow that just makes him fun to watch. Maybe it’s the North American in me reacting to the North American in him -- I like how natural he seems on stage. He doesn’t sound out of breath even though he’s dancing pretty hard.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/be18d68fa520635e98861c9f476421a7/da6f2c438a319c2b-eb/s250x250_c1/8b85dd06c97ffd59d2b0ca2e7981b79e820ac8ae.jpg)
The editing makes him look even better. Aww, Hanbin is shedding relieved tears backstage! How sweet. The judges are weirdly in line with me on this. They say he’s a bit sharp, which, yes, and fun to watch. They give Matthew three stars ⭐⭐⭐, which disappoints the Space Council, but I think it’s fair, or at least it would have been if other people who were worse than him hadn’t gotten four stars.
Beautiful Beautiful At 1:45:45
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/36e75ae22540b0637bd914871243a91b/da6f2c438a319c2b-00/s400x600/885f8e52e48c8564c8112bbd982696f0ab7fd62c.jpg)
HanBin comes out and says that he spent two years as a backup dancer, specializing in tutting and waacking. Naturally, LipJ challenges him to a waacking battle and it’s really fun to watch. The editing makes it almost impossible to tell what they’re actually doing, alas, but it’s still fun.
Then the judges ask him why he didn’t check off “vocal” on his intake form (shown below with a translation). He says that he isn’t confident about his vocals and wants to work on them here.
He also says that during the years he spent as a backup dancer, he wondered if he could ever make it as an idol. Hey, HanBin, have you seen yourself in a mirror lately?
He didn’t check off “visual” on his application form!! Just “dance” and “choreography.” Wild!! (Here is a screenshot of the part of the form they showed, with my translations below it.)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e1c8b2fadbee92e30873d371392c3d58/da6f2c438a319c2b-1a/s540x810/9282e20429f336732d2c06d2e885136e6f0c1d48.jpg)
My take:
Ok, as a full on Fuse (fan of ONF), I am so psyched that their songs are being seen and heard more often. Beautiful Beautiful is such an ONF song -- it’s hard to imagine anyone else doing a song like this. If you don’t really know ONF, you might know the “smiley boy” who did a dance cover of Hype Boy at a military talent show? That’s J-US from ONF, who looks great with a shaved head.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/50b3ee15e45fbf8e69e748bc7148015b/da6f2c438a319c2b-03/s500x750/381a325e43ce1a8772a3efcfbea934bebbf3418f.jpg)
Anyway, I love this song.
And I liked this performance! Boy was I wrong about this pretty boy -- he can dance and mostly sing! I’d give him 3.5 stars for dance, 3 stars for performance, and like 2.5 stars for singing. So I’d give him 3 stars overall, and yeah, that’s what the judges give him ⭐⭐⭐. I felt like he was a tiny bit stiff, holding back a little, and a few of his movements kind of don’t play as well as they could. But the changes he made to the choreo to include more tutting style moves actually work really well with the choreo as it stood. He has both power and control and looks great on stage. Born to be a K-idol.
That’s kind of what the judges say too -- that during his performance he seemed a tiny bit flat compared to when he was waacking with LipJ. The judges praise his singing too. So I’m like, 2-for-30 with the judges today.
Hanbin seems perfectly happy with three stars, which makes him look like a real sweet guy. Wow, he’s pretty, and humble, and skillful? Hanbin is so making the final lineup, don’t you think? (I’m saying this only having watched the first episode -- this is a prediction based on what I’m seeing, not a spoiler.)
The judges say that any agency that had both Hanbin and Matthew must have been good, and the camera cuts to Hui, with the caption “proud of Cube.” Um, I bet not. Every trainee at Cube hates Cube.
Cry Time: Shine 1:53:55
Next out are Ichika(30), Itsuki (16), and Ouju(18) all Japanese trainees. Yes, Ichika is 30 -- he’s about 10 months older than Hui. The average age of the trainees, according to my spreadsheet, is 20. But he doesn’t look out place here. Part of the joy of a song like Shine is that you’re kind of supposed to look like mismatched dorks, all different heights and styles.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9aaec76e86e8215ea07f53c64d8500ee/da6f2c438a319c2b-29/s540x810/5ae09351bb8b8821681b55fbd8e5531c348069bc.jpg)
But of course, they’re not really here to audition, at least not according to the MNET editors. They’re here to make Hui cry by performing Shine. Well, they’re here to make the entire Space Council cry.
So first, I'll explain why Shine would make Hui cry, for anyone who doesn’t know. Shine was a huge hit, and rightfully so. It was so beloved. For some reason, it didn’t win any music show awards, but whatever, it was a bonafide hit. And then E’Dawn got kicked out, and E’Dawn was a major sort of “face” of the group. Tons of scandal. Fans saying they’d boycott them if E’Dawn didn't get kicked out, and other fans saying they’d boycott them if E’Dawn DID get kicked out. And their next few songs just didn’t chart, despite being great. The guys must have thought they were at the start of a major break through, and then it looked like they were more like one-hit wonders.
For Hui, thinking back to Shine, back to that time when it looked like they were going to be big, when everything seemed possible, but knowing that it all crashed and burned…. Yeah, it would make me teary do. I mean, it does make me teary. I mean, I am crying.
When they’re done performing, the judges ask Hui what he thought of their performance, and he doesn’t really give any feedback. He just says, “I had a great time watching your performance, and I was grateful as the original artist. Thank you.” Then he bows like, 120 degrees to them.
My take on their actual performance:
If you watch their practice video, there were originally six of them performing together, and apparently three of them were sick or injured or something. I’m not clear on that yet. So they had to scramble and redistribute the lines and remake the choreo at the last minute. I won’t go too hard on them.
Ouju’s voice cracked several times. Ichika was off key most of the time, but he does do the heavy lifting, singing a lot of the lines. Itsuki’s vocals were also not fantastic. But they all brought that silly, “I’m a dork” energy to the choreo that you have to bring for this song, and they all kept going and didn’t give up. It’s actually kind of fun watching them, as unpleasant as it is to listen to them.
The MNET editing is kind, actually.
The judges give Ouju and little Itsuki no stars, and give tall Ichika one star⭐. That seems about right.
As of 1:57:00 it looks like Hui might be going next, but if you know MNET at all you know he won’t really perform until next time. They sure do find some clips to make it look like he does poorly and gets zero stars or something.
And that’s pretty much the end of the episode, except for the live ranking! Here’s the ranking. Trainees who I haven’t mentioned or seen before will be in italics; I’ll try to give you a reminder as to who the rest are.

● 👏👏👏
Synopsis: The second issue introduced April O'Neil and Baxter Stockman. The book begins with the Turtles and Splinter watching the news. The reporter, Ms. Hynes, is doing a story about Dr. Baxter Stockman and his new invention: the rodent-killing robotic Mouser. Stockman, with the help of his lovely assistant April O'Neil, demonstrate the Mouser's ability to track and slay rats. Splinter cautions the Turtles that they must be very careful with this new threat in town.
Several weeks pass, and in that time many bank robberies have occurred. April is reading the paper to Dr. Stockman, which describes strange small tunnels dug into the bank's vaults. April hypothesizes that the Mousers would be capable of doing this, which the good Doctor promptly dismisses, pointing out that April had helped to program them, so she should know better. Stockman then proceeds to take Ms. O'Neil to an underground security level of the laboratory, where he shows her an army of Mousers that are being built. April demands to know how he got the funding to build hundreds of Mousers… when she concludes that her suspicions were correct: the Mousers were robbing the banks! Stockman then reveals his plan to blackmail the city. April is confused, as she notes that Stockman could have made millions legally with his invention. Dr. Stockman replies that he's not doing it for money but because it's "fun". April realizes that the Doc is quite mad and she bolts for the elevator. Stockman then programs the elevator to drop her into the sewers, and sends several mousers to kill her.
Just as she's about to be mauled, the Turtles show up and save her by destroying the robots. April faints at the sight of them! The turtles take Ms. O'Neil to their home, and when she awakes, tell her their origin. The Turtles then turn on the news to find Stockman making his demands of the City. It seems that he's had the Mousers dig tunnels underneath every corporate headquarters in New York City, and if a ransom is not paid for each building, he will have the Mousers destroy the skyscrapers' foundations, thus causing them to crash to the ground.
The Turtles and April decide that it's up to them to stop the mad Doctor, and they sneak into his building. They confront Baxter, who sets off an explosion and traps them in the basement lab. The Turtles manage to blast a whole in a wall, but unfortunately it leads to the storage room full of Mousers! The horde of bloodthirsty robots attack! Leo, Raph and Mike struggle to hold them off, but there are too many! Just as it looks like it's curtains for our heroes, Don and April manage to program the computer to shut down all power in the cellar… including the Mousers!

@larryrickard and @spineless-lobster tagged me a million years ago, thank you!! <3
List 5 favourite shows (in no particular order) and answer questions accordingly.
01. The Thick of it
02. Without a Trace
03. Hap and Leonard
04. Lost
05. Yonderland
Who is your favourite character in 2?
Danny (big surprise lol)
Who is your least favourite character in 1?
It’s hard to tell bc those characters weren’t designed to be liked so uh they all suck in their own way. But in a good way you know? But uhhhhh I‘d say John Duggan I guess?
What’s your favourite episode of 4?
UHHHHHMMMM. OKAY. "Lockdown" is obviously an all-time fave but there are better eps in the later seasons like "Greatest hits", "Dr Linus" and (unpopular opinion) "The End". There are too many to choose :(
What’s your favourite season of 5?
Gotta be season 3 🫡
What’s your favourite relationship in 3?
If we‘re talking platonic then yes. Hap & Leonard. What a duo what a dynamic so well written i‘m actually going insane over them btw
What is your anti-relationship in 2?
MARTIN/SAM just LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!! (Martin/Sam/Danny though? Yes please)
How long have you watched 1?
I think i started watching this march, and i haven’t stopped since
How did you become interested in 3?
i‘ve been watching enrique’s entire filmography and. He‘s in it. And BOY am i glad bc i would’ve regretted not seeing this masterpiece of a show. (please watch it if you haven’t)
Who is your favourite actor in 4?
Michael Emerson takes it. BOY does he take it
Which show do you prefer 1, 2 or 5?
god. I‘m so sorry but i‘ll have to go with my awful copaganda show :( wat it is
Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3?
23 vs 18 episodes, and i‘ve been rewatching ttoi on loop for months, whereas i‘ve only done a partial rewatch of H&L
If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Bernard or Vincent probably lol. Just chillin'
How would you kill off your favourite character in 5?
Vex? You want me to murder Vex? Okay. Killed very dramatically by Negatus (they‘re divorced your honour), the whole cliché list: dying in his arms "i always loved you" yadda yadda (sorry)
Would a 3/4 crossover work?
Honestly? It‘d be so epic. Hap & Leonard on The Island. Yes please
Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely, but strangely okay couple.
*points at adam/phil* THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Homestuck, page 1,149

Song used: Sburban Jungle by Michael Guy Bowman
Author commentary:
Here is the end of act animation, [S] Enter. Panels are sliding around the screen. They're showing stuff. Things are happening. It's exciting.
0:47 - Look at how I was still switching her shirt logo around even in the middle of a Flash. This is called attention to detail.
1:05 - And there goes the bed. If only the bed could have burned to death on its Quest Bedbed.
1:20 - Look at Dave putting all this stuff in these terrible inconvenient locations. What a jackass!
1:28 - The real hero of Act 3: a 20 foot tall, 10 ton stone statue of Zazzerpan the Learned. Those Zazzerstats are canon btw.
1:41 - Rose was eager to play this game in the first place so she could resurrect her dead cat, AND GOD DAMMIT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT SHE'S GOING TO DO. All these flaming tornadoes and flying wizards can go to hell.
1:57 - There's this whole spiel on Sburb's "entry items" and what they mean, which I won't get into now. But here's another brief spin on it. John's was an apple from a tree, obviously like the one from the bible. In that tale, the apple represented a temptation to Adam and Eve, and trouble was a-lurkin' if they took a bite. In retrospect the liquor bottle similarly represents a kind of temptation in the context of this character arc.
2:31 - Usually with acts in Homestuck, there's something that happens at the end that brings the act back full circle. Act 3 started with Nanna's inscription to John, and here we see when and how that was written, while getting a very brief glimpse of what's under the clouds and thus a peek at the much bigger story waiting for us to discover.
2:36 - One wonders if she was aware Dave had given Jaspers some useful tentacles to bail her out with before she jumped. It was quite a leap of faith. Or just outright suicidal. The Lalondes and Striders are basically all cuckoo bananas. But anyways, let's reflect on the teamwork involved to make everything work. Rose bringing Jaspers back, Dave making him a princess, Jaspers saving Rose… God teamwork is great. So is friendship. If your story isn't in some way basically about friendship and teamwork, you are failing hilariously at your job.
2:50 - In [this part of the] montage we see a very quick rewind of WV blasting off in his big can. Which turns out to be the cork of a huge bottle, the unsurprising shape of the exile station which formed in Rose's crater. Exile station designs are based on the entry item of that location. As if you didn't know that already.
2:58 - Sure cuttin' it close there Rose… My characters never listen to me.
3:01 - The thing being revealed here: Dave's copy of the game has been stored in this lotus time capsule for millions of years. WHAT?? Yes, the same juice-stained copies currently on the roof below his window. How do they get here? This is how most mysteries work in Homestuck. You know a thing is going to happen in the future, but you don't know why or how. So you just keep reading, while screaming.
3:02 - The animation just keeps on going, and the song "Sburban Jungle" sorta bumps it up a notch. John proceeds to climb his house while kicking imp and ogre ass. There are a few moments in the earlier acts which seem to trick you into thinking Homestuck is all about getting cool gear, gaining levels, and kicking ass like you expect to do in such games. This is kind of misleading though. In totality, HS isn't really about ass-kicking at all. It's about presenting awesome fantasy environments and situations in which ass-kicking could THEORETICALLY take place, but very rarely does except in dramatic hot points like this. Instead, those environments serve as backdrops for a huge amount of dicking around on the internet, babbling to friends about feelings, and being a bunch of stupid useless kids struggling to grow up. If you are ever under the impression HS is about anything else, you are invariably in for a world of hurt.
3:25 - The best part of the animation is when John just runs up and clocks a hapless imp in the face. Don't even try to tell me it isn't.
3:29 - Whereas this imp gets inadvertently Cosby'd into the pit. You'd think John would later find the Cosbytop lying around somewhere down there, but I don't think that's what happens. I think he just makes another one?? Why the hell not. The great thing about alchemy is it puts very little premium on almost any single object. Except ones which are Plot Critical to be unique, like the game disc, or the matriorb. It's almost like… the game knows when an item is plot critical?? It's almost like… my brain as the author of the story IS the game???
3:34 - Then John boings into the thing. The end.

IMAGES: USAF this time performs a "Mammoth Walk"
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 06/08/2023 - 18:02 in Military, War Zones
The U.S. Air Force's most recent "Elephant Walk" was so impressive that the U.S. officially called it the "Mammoth Walk", or Mammoth Walk.
On May 5, 57 subordinate aircraft of the 7ª U.S. Air Force from the bases of Osan and Kunsan, where the 51ª and 8ª Air Wings are stationed, respectively, were aligned at Osan Air Base, South Korea.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/61eeeea1b59ab7e33cd41acfeaae9ef5/19d3c89cd745bba3-69/s540x810/8d428df0b22fa4d67fcb36effe32acfdc8075e14.jpg)
There were on the runway forty F-16C/D Fighting Falcons of the 35º, 36º and 80º Fighter Squadrons, twelve A-10C Thunderbolt II attack jets of the 25º Fighter Squadron, two U-2S Dragon Ladys spy planes of the 5º Reconnaissance Squadron and three C-12 Hurons transport turboprops from the 2ª

The F-16 and A-10 aircraft shown in the photos were armed with real missiles and bombs of various types, such as AIM-9 and AIM-120 for air combat, AGM-65 to attack ground targets and AGM-88 HARM for anti-radar, and GBU-38, GBU-54, GBU-31 and GBU-31(V)3 (Pilantogi

Some F-16s have also been equipped with the HARM system, which is rare in the Block 40 versions, but allows them to perform SEAD (anti-aircraft defense) missions such as the Block 50 versions, which are usually designed for this.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/972151824377f0d67e38b642f97df1c9/19d3c89cd745bba3-27/s540x810/1739746f8b89b07c8db8850ae0e14375f6cd3817.jpg)
With the exercise, the United States of America impressively emphasized its commitment to the Indo-Pacific region. The presence of its air forces in South Korea should contribute to the stability of the region. Osan is the closest air base to communist North Korea.
Since World War II, the "Elephant Walk" has been a constant term in the U.S. Air Force. The Army Air Forces had a large number of bombers available in 1944, with which the U.S. regularly flew attacks with more than 1,000 aircraft. For this, the heavy planes rolled to take off in long rows one after the other. The image resembled the march of heavy elephants on their way to the next water point, the USAF statements described. The term remained and even entered the USAF regulations and since then, the Elephant Walk has been the official expression of an exercise with a maximum number of aircraft.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6742ced90719f0ef46b232bca3b85f5b/19d3c89cd745bba3-ae/s540x810/27672fa654e6ead8e4a1528974807992346d6a31.jpg)
In elephant marches, the machines roll one after the other on the track. In their simple variant, they occur as a rolling exercise without takeoffs and subsequent landings. With the exercise, the air forces regularly check all aspects of a squadron's readiness to fulfill its war mission. "Correct" Elephant Walks end with the departure of all participating machines. Each aircraft capable of flying and ready for use and each crew must comply with the starting window of the war plan.
The recent "Mammoth Walk" at Osan Air Base was impressive, among other things, due to the wide variety of participating aircraft types - from twin-engine turboprop connecting planes to high-altitude reconnaissance jets. One of the largest Elephant Walks in number, on the other hand, is one that occurred in the 1980s, when 120 F-111 bomber fighters took off in less than an hour as part of Operation Desert Storm of 2003.

Is it confirmed that Route 02 and Mekakucity Actors are different routes? I always interpreted it as Mekakucity Actors being a retcon of Route 02 to explicitly include Hiyori and Ayano. We don't see most of Route 02 beside STR and STR doesn't explicitly show that Hiyori and Ayano didn't make it so it's technically not incompatible with MCA.
It just feels really backward for the rest of the project for Marie to reset post STR since at that point she should have learned not to dwell on her loss. Mary is one of the biggest examples of Kagepro's themes so for her to go back on themes in the good end of Route 02 would just be antithetical to rest of the project. Accept loss and learn how to use loss to help others going through it instead of dwelling on the past and refusing to move forward and help.
for all we know route 02 and MCA are 2 different routes. i totally agree with u there but also, we don't really know how they manage in route 02 to end up alive. i personally never interpreted it like ayano&hiyori could be alive... im an old fan so until mca ended this was unheard of!! and a lot of post str fan content didn't include them. inevitably i think of them as 2 different scenarios.
i think since in MCA the way they stop the resets is with ayano and shintaro using their powers to transmit to mary that this has happened before (retaining having all routes, favoring conveying them to mary), maybe in route 02 since ayano isn't alive shintaro has to sort of do it by himself. and saying it without transmitting all the feelings like favoring eyes can do maybe doesn't help mary do this whole thing LOL and ends up resetting anyway. idk. i kinda love thinking abt them as 2 different routes, both because i personally find it interesting that mary would reset after a good ending, and because an ending without ayano and hiyori is also a lot more meaningful in terms of the "moving on" message. i think it also adds to shintaro being terrified of ayano post str in MCA route because... they've HAD a good ending before, but ayano's existence in this one is new and that already changes everything and it's scary for him. same with mary, with ayano in the picture she knows everything FIRST HAND and its terrifying.
i wouldn't think too hard about what is contradictory or not in kagepro because there's 1 million things like this where shit happens and it's ooc but we gotta deal with it. an example of something i hate, takane killing herself in 2nd manga route. she would never fucking do that. but also with no clearing in the picture how else is she supposed to die the same day as haruka? it's stupid as hell. it's one of those things that aren't planned through i think or thought-out very well. it feels cheap and stupid.
but like i said personally MY headcanon, mary resets because without favoring the message isn't properly sent to her/she's also like Maybe we can save even more people etc. idk. i think its a rly fun concept to have 2 good endings I've always liked it

High-speed rail (HSR) can be profitable by:
Connecting major cities: The most successful HSR routes connect large cities and are optimally spaced apart to compete with air and road travel.
Station location: Stations should be near population and economic centers.
Speed: HSR should have a fast average speed with fewer stops and clear paths.
Commercial freedom: HSR should have commercial freedom to maximize profit.
Diversifying revenue: HSR can generate revenue from multiple sources, such as restaurants, shops, hotels, and apartments near stations.
Value capture: Governments can impose taxes or assessments on the increased value of land near new HSR lines.
Leasing land: Rail systems can lease land for development.
Attracting passengers: HSR should be competitive with driving and flying. For example, the Brightline West trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles suburbs takes just over 2 hours, which is an attractive alternative to the 4-hour drive.
Reducing operating costs: HSR can reduce operating costs by requiring fewer onboard staff and managing maintenance and electricity costs.
Creating jobs: HSR can create good-paying union jobs.
Economic activity: HSR can induce statewide economic activity by pumping money back into local and regional economies.

PART 1: How To Identify The Enemy | Derek Prince
0:00 Can A Christian Be Possessed By Demons?
7:02 People That Need Deliverance Are Ordinary People
11:20 Casting Out Demons Was A Major Part Of Jesus’ Ministry
16:14 People Need To Be Equipped In Deliverance Before They Go Out Evangelizing
22:12 How To Know If Demons Are At Work
26:05 Characteristic Activity of Demons;
37:37 Areas Where Demons Operate
MARK 1: 23 JC HEALS A MAN WITH UNCLEAN SPIRIT
When He began His public ministry the thing that struck people the most was His way of dealing with evil spirits. And it's worthy of note that this was one miracle of Jesus
which had never previously been recorded in the Old Testament. Almost all His other miracles, healing, provision of food, control of nature had already been recorded in the Old Testament. But there's no Old Testament record of driving out evil spirits. And the people who witnessed it were immediately gripped by it and became excited about it.
Spirit of infirmity/ spirit of fear The thing that I want to emphasize there is Jesus did not deal with the man. He dealt with the spirit in the man. Another person in that man.
And there's no indication that the man had behaved but normally before. It was the presence of Jesus with the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon Him that brought out the unseen presence of the demon in the man. note:
The word "infirmity" refers to physical or mental weakness, illness, or a state of being frail, and it's often used to describe a condition of poor health or a lack of strength. "Fear," on the other hand, refers to an emotional response to a perceived threat or danger, typically causing anxiety or distress.
MARK 1: 32-34 JC HEALS MANY
DAIMAN- IZOMAI
Where daimon is the root and comes from the noun demon.
So izomai is the passive: to be demonized. That would be the best translation: to be demonized.
This translation, demon- possessed, has unfortunately obscured the issue for millions of people because they say:
How can a Christian be possessed by the devil? My answer is a true Christian cannot be possessed by the devil.
A true Christian is possessed by Jesus. However, in many true Christians, there are some areas where they are demonized, where they are afflicted and affected by demons.
Areas in their lives and character where they are not themselves fully in control.
And they are demonized, but not possessed by Satan.
note : The term "demonized" refers to someone being influenced or oppressed by demonic forces, but not necessarily completely controlled or possessed by them. This can include various levels of spiritual attack, torment, or influence, but the person still retains some level of control over their mind and actions.
On the other hand, "possessed" generally means that a person is entirely controlled by a demon or Satan, where the demonic force takes full control of the person's body and mind, leaving them with little to no autonomy.
So, "demonized" suggests a range of negative influence or oppression by demonic forces, while "possessed" indicates full control by a demonic entity.
The King James and this version, and various others use the word ‘cast out demons.’
The translation I prefer is that of Phillips where he uses the word expel.
Because that doesn't have a lot of religious connotations. It's simple, practical, down-to-earth.
If you inhale smoke into your lungs, what do you do to get rid of it? You expel it. It's an action of the will but there's also a physical aspect to it. And that's what I like to use. I don't always use it but that in my opinion, best represents. He expelled many demons. There must have been hundreds of synagogues in Galilee. A lot of people have got the attitude: Perhaps every now and then there is a case where it's necessary to expel demons but they're very rare and they're exceptional. Usually the attitude is: If there are such people they're either in jails or mental institutions.
I have to point out to you that that was not the kind of person Jesus was dealing with.
He was dealing with Orthodox Jews who met every Sunday in the synagogue and spent the rest of the week caring for their families tending their fields, fishing the sea, keeping their stores and so on. They were basically normal, respectable, religious people but they had what we could say certain hang-ups. Certain areas, as I say, where they were not in control of themselves.
So do not get the impression that a person who needs deliverance must be either a criminal or a maniac. It's just the same kind of people that we deal mainly with today. Not exclusively. Good, respectable, religious people who attend church and say the right things but in their lives somewhere there's an area that's demonized where they're not in control. It may be in their physical desires maybe in their emotions, it may be in their mind.
—
LUKE 13 A woman with disabling/ infirmity spirit LUKE 4 verses 40-41. We find the woman who was bent double in Luke 13 : 11-16.
Another incident in another synagogue later on. Behold there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. Now notice this was caused by a spirit of infirmity
an evil spirit that had doubled her body over so that she couldn't straighten herself up.
When Jesus saw her he called her to him and said to her: Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.
Notice the word loosed indicates binding. He said that in faith nothing had changed, notice that. and be healed on them and not on the Sabbath day. The Lord then said: Hypocrite. Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his donkey and lead it away to water? So ought not this woman being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound think of it, for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?
She was a believing woman. She was a Jewess, she was a member of the synagogue. She had this terrible physical problem; her back was bent over.
It was not primarily a physical problem. It was caused by a spirit of infirmity.
And the moment the spirit of infirmity left her, she straightened up. Now that demands discernment, but I am simply pointing out that some problems we would classify as physical are actually caused by evil spirits.
Jesus also dealt with dumbness, deafness and blindness as being caused by evil spirits. And in many cases His ministry to heal the people was to deliver them from the spirits that caused their dumbness, their deafness and their blindness. Now without going into details I have to say I have seen parallel instances in my own ministry in each of those areas. This is the last of our glimpses of the ministry of Jesus. On that very same day some Pharisees came saying to him: Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill you.
And he said to them: Go tell that fox that's Herod: Behold I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow the third day I shall be perfected. That's a Hebraism. Today, tomorrow and the third day means from now on until the job is finished. So he said: I'm going to be doing two things casting out demons and performing cures. That's how He started, that's how He continued, and that's how He ended.
His whole ministry from beginning to end included in it as a major part probably one third of His time in healing the sick and casting out demons.
And the two were so intertwined that it was really impossible to distinguish between them. —
People Need To Be Equipped In Deliverance Before They Go Out Evangelizing
Now the next thing I want to say, which I will illustrate very briefly is: In the New Testament no one was ever sent out to evangelize without first being commissioned to deal with evil spirits. There isn't an example in the New Testament. It is unscriptural to do that. note: "commissioned" means being officially assigned or authorized to carry out a specific task or duty. In the New Testament, being "commissioned" would imply being given a mandate or empowered by Jesus or church leaders to carry out evangelism or spread the gospel. According to this statement, part of this commissioning involved being given the authority to confront or deal with evil spirits, in addition to preaching or spreading the message.
MARK 10:11
Let's look at the first twelve disciples who were sent out.
When he had called his twelve disciples to him he gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.
The kingdom of heaven is at hand, but don't merely preach do something. What? Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise he dead, cast out demons.
It was included in their equipment and it was included in their commission.
—
How To Know If Demons Are At Work
I'm going to give you some general teaching on the nature of demons and we'll stick with the word demons and ways in which you can know if they're at work in you or in others.
Of course, there's always the two gifts of discerning of spirits and the word of knowledge.
But apart from that, in the supernatural realm there are many, many other combined indications
which should alert us to the presence of demons either in ourselves or in others. 1. Number one, to keep you from knowing Christ as Savior. But if they fail in that, their number two objective is to keep you from serving Christ effectively. You see that? If they've failed in number one they don't give up.
2. They simply switch to number two. Now we need to distinguish between the flesh and demons.
The flesh being the old carnal nature, the old man.
Demons being persons that move in and occupy areas of your personality.
I compare them this way: The flesh is the carcass, the demons are the vultures that settle on the carcass. If there were no flesh, there would be no vultures. It's a very vivid picture.
If you've lived in a country where there are vultures you know when something is about to die, a little speck
appears up in the sky and hovers there. Then there are three or four more and the nearer the animal on the earth gets to death, the lower down the vultures come. Jesus said: Where the carcass is, the vultures will be gathered together.
Where the unregenerate flesh of man is exposed in its carnality and its sinfulness, you can be sure the vultures will be gathering.
Now the remedies are totally different. What's the remedy for the flesh?
The cross. That's right. Galatians 5:24: They that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
What's the remedy for demons? To expel them, that's right.
You cannot expel the flesh and you cannot crucify demons. So in order to know which remedy to apply you have to know what you're dealing with. Now I would say in general if you are a committed, sincere Christian who reads your Bible, prays has regular fellowship and desires to serve the Lord and you have a special kind of problem, something tormenting something aggravating, something humiliating something binding and enslaving and you've tried every remedy you've prayed, you've fasted, you've reckoned yourself dead and you still haven't resolved it. you can be almost sure you're dealing with a demon. I can say this out of experience which is too long for me to relate this morning.
9 verbs which describe characteristic activities of demons.
If these are present in your life more than one, or if they're very intense you should begin to check. You probably need deliverance.
And bear in mind, all these are activities of persons because we're dealing with persons without bodies.
1. The first verb, entice. Demons entice.
They tempt people to do evil. And if you analyze your experience you'll find that enticement often comes in a verbal form. A beautiful gold pencil has been dropped on the floor and something says to you: Take it. Nobody will know. Other people would do the same.
If it was your pencil, they'd take it. You know what that is?
Anything that has a voice is a person. Behind that voice is a demon enticing you.
None of you have ever experienced that, just me! 2. Demons harass
or hárass, depends on what part of the world you come from.
They study you, they follow your movements they know your weak moments, your weak places they know just how and when they can get in. The businessman who's had a terrible day in the office.
His secretary was inefficient. The air conditioning failed. On the way home there was a traffic jam.
He was an hour on the freeway. When he gets back home believe it or not, his wife is late with the supper and the kids are running around screaming. And as he gets in through the door he does what we say he blows his stack, okay? You know what happens? That demon of anger that's been on his tail all day jumps in.
And after that his wife notices a certain change in him. He's still a loving father and husband but there are certain times when something else takes over. She notices a kind of different look in his eyes.
He loves his wife and his children. He makes life miserable for them when that comes upon him.
And then he's so ashamed and remorseful afterwards, he says: I don't know what made me do it.
Well, we do know. It's the demon of anger. 3. They torment.
Now the Bible speaks about the tormentors in Matthew 18.
I believe that demons are the tormentors. In Matthew 18 in the parable of the unforgiving servant,
the servant who wouldn't forgive his fellow servant of petty debt was delivered by God to the tormentors.
I have met hundreds of Christians in the hands of the tormentors.
You know why? Unforgiveness. If you have any unforgiveness in your heart against anybody
you are a legitimate target for the tormentors. And Satan is a legal expert; he knows when he's entitled to move in.
There are various forms of torment. There's physical torment. There's the example I would choose, arthritis.
When you look at arthritis, you've seen the devil in action. Twisting, torturing, crippling, binding.
Mental torment. One that's unusually common is the fear of going insane.
You'd be surprised how many Christians are inwardly fighting this battle. It goes like this:
Your aunt died in a mental institution. Your grandfather went the same way. Then you are going to
And you can hardly imagine the torment that there is in such a mind.
Then there is spiritual torment. The example I would give is the accusation that you have committed the unforgivable sin.
If you are concerned about having committed it you haven't committed it. Because the people who have committed it are not the least bit concerned. So that's not your problem. Your problem is a lying, accusing spirit which is taking away your peace and the assurance of your salvation.
4. They compel.
I think there is no more distinctive word than the word compulsive.
Almost anything compulsive is liable to be demonic. Compulsive smoking, compulsive consumption of alcohol but let's not stop there. Compulsive eating is just as demonic.
Gluttony is just as much of a problem as alcohol. But it's a respectable one, you see.
You can't be an alcoholic in church, but you can be a glutton.
There are other forms of compulsion. Compulsive talking. Garrulity. People who can't stop talking have got a problem.
And they are a problem too! Number five, demons enslave.
Very close. You see, let's say you've committed a sin in the area of sex.
You repent, you go to Jesus. You receive forgiveness and cleansing, you're justified.
Just as if you'd never sinned. That's all finished with. But if after all that you still have this intense drive to commit the same sin again, even though you hate it, you're enslaved.
One very common example is masturbation. Some psychologists and people say masturbating is healthy.
I just don't even argue about that. But I know there are thousands of people who do it and hate themselves for doing it. And every time they say ‘Never again, ’ but it never works. They are enslaved. And there is a demon of masturbation. It's very common.
Let me tell you right away: It has certain specific manifestations.
What will happen is the person's fingers will begin to tingle. So many people say: What's the matter with me? My fingers are tingling.
And sometimes they go stiff and they bend right backwards. And I just whisper in their ear: Your problem is masturbation.
Renounce it, claim the cleansing blood of Jesus and get rid of it. But it's very stubborn.
Many times people have to actually shake it out of their fingers in the Name of Jesus, to get rid of it.
Now you put four and five together. Four plus five equals addictions.
Okay, compulsive, enslaving, you put them together, they're addictions.
We're all familiar with many forms of addiction. Some are very unusual. My first wife and I dealt with a young woman
a Pentecostal church member, who was addicted to nail varnish. She just wanted to smell nail varnish.
She told us: When I walk into the cosmetics department of a store I've got two options. I can either buy nail varnish or run out of the store.
When she was delivered if that thing it came out screaming and it tore her.
There are other addictions, you know.
The commonest and latest is TV.
TV is just as much an addiction as alcohol with many people. They walk into the room and switch it on.
They don't know what they're going to see but they just have to reach for it just like an alcoholic reaches for the drink.
And I think probably it does more harm in the long run than alcohol.
6. They defile.
They make you feel dirty and unclean. Especially when you're worshiping God.
You're about to get into God's presence and this dirty image or this filthy word is projected into your mind.
Anything that rises up when you're about to worship God and opposes you is almost certainly demonic.
Or when you want to read your Bible. One common example is the demon of sleep.
You know, the Bible speaks about a spirit of slumber. If they want to read their Bible at 10 p.m.
they're asleep by 10:15. If they want to watch television they can stay awake until after midnight. Now that's not natural.
There's a supernatural force there that enjoys them watching television
hates them reading their Bibles. You understand? All right.
7. They deceive.
They are the deceivers. I believe basically all forms of spiritual deception are demonic.
And you know what opens the door to deception? Pride. I doubt whether there's ever any deception that doesn't come in through the doorway of pride.
Pride inevitably leads to deception.
8. they weaken,
make sick or tired. There's a demon of tiredness.
A woman once said: I can't stand this session any longer; I'm too tired.
I was about to get sorry for her when I realized it was a demon. I challenged it and it said: That's right. She's always tired.
She's tired when she gets up and goes to bed. She's too tired to pray, she's too tired to read her Bible.
That's one of the ones that the others hide behind. Or they kill.
Remember Satan is a murderer. He kills people physically. And there's a spirit of death that he sends out to kill people. All right. Now if we're going to take one word to sum up
it would be the word restless. Demonized people are usually restless in some area.
The person who can truly relax and be at peace probably doesn't need deliverance.
Areas Where Demons Operate
the last although I wish I could go further because we haven't much time
is their areas of residence. Proverbs 25:28 says: Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down without walls.
So that compares the inner nature of human personality to a city.
And when the person has no spiritual defenses that city is open to almost any evil spirit that wants to come in.
You take a drug addict, that's his description. Anything can get into him because his walls are broken down.
But in a city there are a lot of different areas. The area where the wealthy live, the slum areas
the banking and commerce areas, the sports areas the various ethnic areas.
I used to live in Chicago. There was the areas where it was all Poles all Swedes, all Jews and so on.
And so inside you and me there is a city with various areas with characteristic residents in each area, you understand? I'm going to give you a little list of the areas.
I'm not a professional psychologist; this is simply based on years of experience.
1.The first area, number one, the main one is emotions and attitudes. And I put in parentheses ‘gangs.’
Because there are gangs of demons. And each one opens the way for the next.
And if you meet one, you should start searching for the others. My personal opinion is behind every negative emotion and attitude there is an evil spirit. Anger, fear, loneliness, misery, self-pity pride, jealousy... There's a tremendous list.
If you are angry it doesn't necessarily mean you have a demon of anger, but if your anger falls into the category of those verbs that we've discussed then you probably have a demon of anger.
There are certain root problems out of which the rest grow.
I think the greatest single root problem is rejection. And rejection leads to a whole series.
Loneliness, misery, self-pity, depression, despair and when you've got that far, you're headed one or other of two ways.
Death, if it's passive, suicide if it's active. Suicide is always under the impulse of an evil spirit. That's my personal opinion. I can't prove it.
Another very typical problem is rebellion which leads to resentment, to hatred to anger, to violence
and you know, produces the typical gang leader and so on.
2. The mind
In a way, the mind is the battlefield. Characteristic spirits that affect the mind are doubt, unbelief confusion, indecision, insanity.
And I've discovered that people who have been in the occult almost always have a problem with confusion.
Depression, you can call it either emotional or mental. It doesn't matter, but it's there.
The next area is... Where are we?
The tongue. There are a lot of characteristic demons of the tongue. The main one is lying.
The Bible speaks about a lying spirit. There are people who are compulsive liars.
They don't even know when they're lying. I had a friend like that.
The president of the Full Gospel Businessmen in a certain city. He was also characteristically a salesman. He was a fine Christian, a wonderful talker. And he'd sit in our living room and start to talk and his talk would get more and more interesting but improbable.
And my head would begin to swim and I'd think: Does he believe what he's saying?
Do I believe what he's saying? But it just kind of flowed out of the natural into the supernatural.
Now, you know the reason I discovered how that spirit came in? He was an adopted son of wealthy parents.
They had no other children; all their eggs were in that one basket. They wanted him to be everything. When he came home with his grades from school they were disappointed. They weren't good enough.
And when they registered disappointment he decided that wasn't worth it so he just lied about his school grades.
That started him into the whole field of lying. Ultimately he was delivered.
But it was such a revelation to me. Compulsive liars are very deceptive. They don't know they're lying. They can pass a lie-detector test.
What else? There's the two churchgoing demons, criticism and gossip.
I was in a church meeting and a lady came up with a demon. I said, Your problem is criticism. You spirit of criticism, come out of her.
About four people around started to get delivered at the same time!
Exaggeration, the ‘evang-elastic’ demon.
Blasphemy. I was a slave of blasphemy when the Lord saved me.
Absolutely incapable of speaking without blaspheming. Unclean speech and so on.
Negative talking.
4. The thing that nobody talks about in church, sex.
Because it's not discussed in church, people with problems in the area of sex go to a psychiatrist.
He says: You have a guilt problem that centers in your religion. Give it up and you won't feel guilty.
Now they don't all say that. But I would say if you sat in church for ten years and still feel guilty your problem is your religion. Really. I would change to another religion
if that's all it can do is leave you feeling guilty. Now... We have to say certain things about sex.
First of all, sex is not evil. It's good. We have to clear away that misunderstanding.
God created man and woman sexual beings. And after He checked on everything He created, He said it was all very good including sex. One of the big problems in church is we just are not honest about sex, we're ashamed about it, we're prudish and we encourage problems by that attitude.
I would say every form of compulsive sex aberration is demonic.
Without exception. Masturbation, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, effeminacy and all sorts of horrid perversions that we won't talk about.
I would say every one of those is demonic.
Now, you don't have to feel ashamed but you do need to resolve your problem.
5. Lusts
We could have included it but it's such a distinctive area
I kept it separate. Perverted desires and appetites.
I believe all appetites initially were healthy. But by sin and demonic power they've been perverted to become unhealthy and destructive.
1John 2:16 speaks about the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes.
There is demonic power that controls eyes. Some men have to look at women in a special way.
They're absolutely incapable of not doing that. That's a demon that's focused in their eyes.
As I've said already, gluttony is a very clear example of a perverted appetite.
I had a woman once who traveled seventy miles in a snowstorm to Chicago to be delivered.
She was the daughter of a Pentecostal pastor. Like many she'd rebelled against her parents
and their religion, married an unsaved man and ended up miserable. She had three children.
She came and got delivered from the demon of gluttony and she said to me afterwards: Mr. Prince, no one can tell me this isn't real. It's just as real as having a baby, and rather like it and I've had three.
And then she told me she was so compulsive in her gluttony that she would take food off her children's plate and eat it even though she knew they needed it more than she did. You see, let's talk about addictions. Addictions grow on frustrations.
They're branches on a trunk. And if you merely deal with the addiction you haven't solved the problem. Take alcohol and gluttony.
One woman is Episcopalian her husband runs around with other women, doesn't care for her
doesn't give her enough money and so on. All right. She gets frustrated she's got to get some relief, she walks across the living room to the cocktail cabinet, becomes an alcoholic.
The other woman is Church of God. Her husband does exactly the same.
But for that woman to get to the cocktail cabinet would be a lengthy journey. So where does she go? To the kitchen and opens the refrigerator.
But she becomes a food-aholic. But the difference is minimal, really. And in either case, to help them you've got to deal with the basic frustration which is their attitude toward their husband. We have to go on with the list.
6. The whole realm of the occult. I'm just going to write occult. But that is a vast realm. And every part of it is demonic.
Even the respectable parts. And I would not involve you to be involved in Yoga exercises
let me say that. I was in Yoga, I was a practicing Yogi.
I would tell you, there is nothing in that I would touch with a ten-foot pole.
You don't have to depend on Yoga for physical health. The Lord will give you physical health.
I'm just saying, the occult is a deep, dark pit.
It's one of those caves where all the steps, footmarks lead inwards and none ever lead outward.
7. All false religions.
Islam, Mormonism Jehovah's Witnesses, Buddhism
Hinduism and in some respects, Judaism.
All false religions have a demon about it. Satan is an expert in the field of religion. It's the main area in which he operates.
8. All heresies
And by heresies I mean departures from the Christian faith.
1 Timothy 4.
Now the Spirit expressly states the Spirit... Capital S, the Holy Spirit...
Now the Spirit expressly states that in latter times that's the times in which we're now living, some will depart from the faith What faith? The Christian faith.
Why? Giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.
This is happening on a wide scale today.
And then it goes on to say, he gives some examples of their errors.
Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared forbidding to marry, commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving. Particularly on the West Coast of the United States
you'll find hundreds of thousands of people to whom that applies. They're becoming super-spiritual, they decide not to marry, or if they marry they don't cohabit with their spouse, and they're going to be super-spiritual by what they eat. Now I believe in eating wisely, but I don't make a religion out of it.
The moment it becomes a religious issue you're on the verge of the demonic.
You'll notice that people who get into food fads can't talk about anything else.
That's another mark of the demonic. No matter where you start, you always end up with food.
Don't eat this and that. There are lots of things I don't eat but I do not make a religion out of it.
9. The area of our physical bodies.
And we've dealt with many examples in the gospels. Certain things, I think, are normally demonic, I would never say always.
The first one I'd put on the list is epilepsy. And I have seen many many people delivered. Ruth and I were in Lexington, Kentucky about two years ago now, and I had a blessing. A woman came to me, she was probably about forty with her daughter about eighteen. She said, Mr. Prince, ten years ago you prayed for me and I was delivered from the spirit of epilepsy. Here's my daughter, she has the problem.
Pray for her. I was happy for that testimony. We prayed for the daughter. I have no doubt that she was delivered. I have seen scores of people delivered from epilepsy when it's treated as an evil spirit. If a person comes to me I'll say: Now I believe that's an evil spirit.
I'm prepared to command it to go out, do you want me to? Are you prepared, because there may be a fight. There may be a struggle.
If you don't want to, I won't do it. Some people say yes, some say no.
That is as far as we can go. We've dealt with the primary activities of demons. That list of nine verbs.
And here's the primary areas in which I have observed them operating.
You see, a person may be completely clear in the area of sex but may be in a false religion.
Or a person may have no spirits in the mind but may be bogged down in the emotions.
Or a person, let's say, may be in a heresy but be perfectly healthy. So there's a whole choice of areas.
That's the end of the first session. God helping us we'll complete this in the second session.

my supernatural rewatch reviews: season 2
jk i did season 2 tonight also. personally i'd consider this one of my favorite seasons, but it's only #3 out of the kripke based on ratings. again this falls victim to having some amazing episodes sandwiched by duds. my least favorite episode was probably Everybody Loves a Clown with a score of 5 for pretty obvious reasons, although I do like establishing Sam's fear of clowns. that's good. my most favorite episode was In My Time of Dying, this has gotta be like a top 5 for the whole show for me. average rating was 7.23!
here's the detailed reviews:
01 In My Time of Dying Dude I full on Swayzed that mother. —10
02 Everybody Loves a Clown Points given: Dealing with Dad’s death. DEAN FIXING BABY (plus one million.) DEAN BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF BABY (minus 1 point, plus 2 for being hot). Jo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ash!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t remember him but I love him. My little mullet man math genius. Points taken: The clown plot was so bad. I do not give a shit. Or a piss. Not even a fart. —5
03 Bloodlust HUGE DEANEPISODE!!!!!!! Hating on Dad episode! Dean actually does not want to be a hunter for the rest of his life! Dean critiques dad and Sam defends him so that’s a fun lil turnaround. Gordon! FUN monster of the week. FRESH IDEAS. Character focus integrated into the plot very well so all very interesting. —10
04 Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things Pros: What’s dead should stay dead. Single man tear. Cons: Plot. I was bored. —6
05 Simon Said A woman kills herself by lighting herself on fire after covering herself with gasoline and Dean doesn’t make a Zoolander joke. This is a criminal offense. We know Dean watched Zoolander (Blue Steel). He would totally reference that. I LOVE the little mind control guy. Evil twin is cheesy but fun to watch. —7
06 No Exit I feel like I should’ve enjoyed this more but I was doing abstract algebra notes while I was watching so that didn’t help. Joepisode. I love her so much. I think they could’ve done so much more with Jo and Dean’s relationship. This was literally Jo and Dean fake dating and they did NOTHING about it. None!!!!!!!!! Tragedy. Idk plot was boring and it felt very much like it was on a little mini set, no interaction with the outside world. Boohoo. So much potential wasted. —5
07 The Usual Suspects Sam and Dean suffer the legal consequences of their actions :0 Fun movie references that I didn’t get but were enjoyable nonetheless. —7
08 Crossroad Blues John is in hell confirmed :) —8
09 Croatoan Honestly they missed a lot with the plot. It felt very much like a scapegoat plot so they could just make Sam and Dean talk about their problems. It could’ve been way more interesting and interactive with the real world, but instead felt isolated and superficial. Boohoo. That said, many amazing moments still give it a lot of points. I’m gonna say this one time, you make a move on him and you’ll be dead before you hit the ground, do you understand me, do I make myself CLEAR?! You got a neighbor named Mr. Rogers? Not anymore. —9
10 Hunted Boring! Boring! Sam episode. Where’s Dean —5
11 Playthings Plot was integrated AMAZING into this episode, it felt very rooted in the plot and real consequences in the real world, but still managed to address a lot of Sam and Dean issues! Haunted house! Scooby Doo reference. Drunk Sam king of appropriate and logical transitions. Dean says MILF on screen. —7
12 Nightshifter Boys suffer legal consequences for their actions again. I was very stressed, thought the shifter was gonna be Sam or Dean the whole episode. Fun but no standouts in my head, but I was doing homework while watching so there’s that. —7
13 Houses of the Holy Dean listening to “led zeplin- kashmir” while we listen to Nazareth “Hair of the Dog” implications. Dean keeps talking about how he doesn’t believe in angels bbgorl just you wait. Just You Wait. Unfortunately I was overall a bit bored by the actual episode but I was also very distracted by the Zeppelin thing it is still bothering me. —6
14 Born Under a Bad Sign Dude you had a girl inside you for like a whole week. That’s kinda naughty. —7
15 Tall Tales VERY fun storytelling to Bobby with differing POV. Plus Dean getting beat up by beautiful women in heels and lingerie. —9
16 Roadkill Very easy to predict the twist but it was fun. Beautiful woman who is the actress for our main ghost girl looks so familiar I’m gonna lose my mind. —6
17 Heart I see the Sam appeal. I See It. feelings Felt. Wow. Sam looking back :( Dean’s flinch :(( —7
18 Hollywood Babylon Gilmore girls joke!!! Filming in Canada meta reference. Dean is a pop culture nerd and a slut. Enjoyable but not good necessarily. —5
19 Folsom Prison Blues “What are you, from Texas?” Ghost is boring. Ooohoohooo evil nurse. But Dean looks DELECTABLE. Chomp. —6
20 What Is and What Should Never Be The implications. —9
21 All Hell Breaks Loose (Part 1) Cried at the end. —8
22 All Hell Breaks Loose (Part 2) :(((((((((( —10

Ethics in social media
The trends that are happening in the industry is customer service on social media apps will steadily increase over time. Another thing that will happen because of the trends is user generated content for greater authenticity. Social audio is on the rise and gated communities because of specific interests. One current case relating to social media ethics is Twitter vs Taamneh in which several families are sueing twitter, google and Facebook because they want justice for there family members who were killed by ISIS in the US and abroad because these platforms were trying to hide something about the deaths of their family members. These three companies found guilty of trying to aid and abettle the terrorist attacks against the families. Another is the Garnier vs O’Conner Ratcliff in which the board of trustees were found deleting comments and hiding them, also blocked parents from Facebook and prevented comments using designated words from being posted. The current code of ethics of the Washington Post is to not harm the integrity and reputation of the post, must not make people question there fairness of covering different issues, they must be civil on social media and treat people with respect, journalist should not use there fame with the post for public of private gain of something, and it is very high priority to keep their journalists protected. Some of the brands that are utilizing proper social media ethical practices are Warby Parker, National geographic, Nike, Red bull, and Lego. All of these brands have things in common. They have millions of followers and give the audience what they want and having the public in what there doing while also being open minded. There is one professional that I felt practice strong ethical behavior on social media is Chanel and treats people from different backgrounds and races equally and puts those people in there social media videos or shorts. Some take aways that I can bring forth in my own practices is always pull from all sources and get the full story that way. I think the main concepts that are necessary for my online conduct is never jump to conclusions about stories, adhere to fairness so that I have a balanced mindset, and think for myself and don’t follow a herd mentality. The main concept that I feel strongly against and want to avoid on social media is to say something that I will regret later because it might be a minor thing but will come around later.
My staples that I will follow on social media
Be careful when sending out a message on social media and how people could perceive it
Give all the information to the audience to be fair
Keep in mind that social media is sometimes perceived as reality
Have my photos, videos and posts be neutral and not a specific point of view

Denmark’s green transition
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0d87536d2c7c8b532c271311c77c974f/c1b8b98d7d79c093-06/s540x810/8633b5d09fb65c2c99930b6051277cd9faba2be2.jpg)
Like many, Denmark was once entirely dependent on imported oil and other fossil fuels. Today, Denmark is considered a global frontrunner in the green transition.
From black to green
When the 1973 oil crisis struck, Denmark was one of the OECD countries that was most dependent on oil for its energy supply. With more than 90% of its national energy supplies based on imported oil, the surging prices hit a key nerve in the society and marked a turning point in Denmark’s energy policies. Virtually overnight, the crisis spurred a push to diversify the national energy mix. As such, the establishment of a new regulatory regime was considered a precondition for a successful reorientation of the energy sector.
Now, we want to share our experiences and help others towards a more sustainable, low-carbon, and resource-efficient society.
Key learnings from the green transition
Green business is good business
Investing in renewable energy, water, energy efficiency, and resource optimization makes good economic sense. Since 1980, Denmark has managed to decouple its economic growth from its overall energy consumption. In four decades, the national GDP has more than doubled while energy consumption has only increased by 6 %. Over the same period, water consumption decreased by 40%. The numbers prove that it is possible to create growth without using more energy.
Denmark has fostered several companies and institutions that hold globally leading positions across the green industries: Ørsted[1], Vestas[2], Grundfos[3], Danfoss[4], Ramboll[5], Velux[6], CIP[7], CO-industri[8], PensionDenmark[9], BWSC[10], 3F[11], and Rockwool[12], just to mention a few. Today, more than 75,000 people hold ”green jobs” out of a national workforce of 2.75 million people. The realisation of the Danish 2030 climate target may create up to 300,000 green jobs.
Public-private partnerships
A catalyst in Denmark’s green transition is the strong tradition of entering into public-private partnerships. The notion of public-private partnerships has allowed shifting Danish governments to enact regulations and programs with the support of business and industry, thereby ensuring their successful implementation and adherence.
Broad political agreements
A key factor in the success of Denmark’s decision to heighten its energy security has been its approach to policymaking, where long-term agreements with a broad consensus across the political spectrum and the support of industry are devised on energy and environmental issues. This means that policies remain unchanged even when the government changes. The ensuing political stability has helped secure continuous investment and solutions to many of the nation’s sustainable development challenges.
Sector integration
Trustful collaboration across sectors and industries has long been a key ingredient in the Danish way of doing business. Through decades of working across professional boundaries, Denmark has learned that effective sector integration requires trust, a pragmatic approach, and an experimental mindset.
Societal collaboration
The high levels of societal trust that exist in Denmark, and an open, dialogue-based approach to solving challenges such as climate change have reinforced the partnership approach. While the public sector provides ambitious long-term goals and stable framework conditions, the private sector supplies innovation and solutions to achieve the visions.

# The Holodomor
>Marxists do not deny that a famine happened in the Soviet Union in 1932. In fact, even the Soviet archive confirms this. What we do contest is the idea that this famine was man-made or that there was a genocide against the Ukrainian people. This idea of the subjugation of the Soviet Union’s own people was developed by Nazi Germany, in order to show the world the terror of the “Jewish communists.”
>
>\- Socialist Musings. (2017). Stop Spreading Nazi Propaganda: on Holodomor https://socialistmlmusings.wordpress.com/2017/02/15/stop-spreading-nazi-propaganda/
There have been efforts by anti-Communists and Ukrainian nationalists to frame the famine that happened in the USSR around 1932-1933 as "The Holodomor" (lit. to kill by starvation, in Ukrainian). Framing it this way serves two purposes:
1. It implies the famine mainly affected Ukraine.
2. It implies there was intent or deliberate causation.
This framing was used to drive a wedge between the Ukrainian SSR (UkSSR) and the broader USSR. The argument goes that because it was intentional and because it mainly targeted Ukraine that it was, therefore, an act of genocide. However, both of these points are highly debatable.
#First Issue
The first issue is that the famine affected the majority of the USSR,*not* just the UkSSR. Kazakhstan, for example, was hit harder (per capita) than Ukraine was and Russia itself was also severely affected.
The emergence of the Holodomor in the 1980s as a historical narrative was bound-up with post-Soviet Ukrainian nation-making that cannot be neatly separated from the legacy of Eastern European anti-Semitism, or what Historian Peter Novick calls "Holocaust Envy," the desire for victimized groups to enshrine their "own" Holocaust or Holocaust-like event in the historical record. For many Nationalists, this has entailed minimizing the Holocaust to elevate their own experiences of historical victimization as the supreme atrocity. The Ukrainian scholar Lubomyr Luciuk exemplified this view in his notorious remark that the Holodomor was "a crime against humanity arguably without parallel in European history."
#Second Issue
The second issue is that one of the main causes of the famine was crop failure due to weather and disease, which is hardly something anyone can control no matter their intentions. However, the famine may have been *further* exacerbated by the agricultural collectivization and rapid industrialization policies of the Soviet Union. However, if these policies had not been carried out there could have been even more devastating consequences later.
In 1931, during a speech delivered at the first All-Union Conference of Leading Personnel of Socialist Industry, Stalin said, "We are fifty or a hundred years behind the advanced countries. We must make good this distance in ten years. Either we do it, or we shall go under."
In 1941, exactly ten years later, the Nazis invaded the Soviet Union. By this time, the Soviet Union's industrialization program had lead to the development of a large and powerful industrial base, which was essential to the Soviet war effort. This allowed the Soviet Union to produce large quantities of armaments, vehicles, and other military equipment, which was crucial in the fight against Nazi Germany.

Is anyone going to tell those young american "communists" that when they go lengths and use every circumstantial scrap of "evidence" they can find to try and "prove" that holodomor (and other deaths caused by the ussr) didn't happen (and that everyone who says otherwise is an american capitalist propagandist) that they are engaging in genocide denial? Like, congrats, you've gone so "progressive" you've circled right back and ran full speed in the other direction. Oh, it's not genocide denial because "it didn't happen"? Well boy do I have news for you on what "genocide denial" means.
