Age Is Just a Number…Right? - Luke Hughes
Tumblr media
Summary: Luke. Age gap. Jack being a menace as usual, making sure you're not getting away that easy. Warning: Implied sexual situations, mature language, flirtation, age gap (6 years)
Note: Hey, lovelies! So, originally, this fic was all about Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith, but then I realized—Will is 19, and honestly, he’s just a baby to me. Even if he said he loves older woman. Boy go back to kinder garden. (Sorry Will, love you, I promise!) So, I decided to swap in the Hughes boys instead. I’ve gotta be honest, it gave me a bit of a headache. Now, this started as a quick, short fic. I swear, I had every intention of keeping it short. But, well… 7048 words later, here we are. I got hit with a ton of ideas and feelings, and the story just kind of... grew on me. You’ll probably notice the tone/style shifts halfway through, and I’m definitely sorry for that!
But hey, I hope you all enjoy it despite the wild ride! ❤️ For more fun: masterlist
The first thing you notice is warmth.
A heavy arm draped over your waist. The steady rise and fall of breath against the back of your neck. The scent of clean laundry, cologne, and something distinctly him clinging to the pillow beside you.
The second thing you notice—you are not in your own bed.
Your stomach flips as your brain reboots, sluggishly piecing together fragments of last night.
The blind date.
Luke.
His charming smile. The way his chestnut curls fell into his eyes when he laughed. The way he leaned in when you spoke, like you were the only person in the room. The teasing brush of his fingers against yours when he reached for his drink. The electricity that crackled between you when you finally caved—when he kissed you outside the bar, his hands firm at your waist, his body pressing into yours like he couldn’t help himself.
And then… more.
Your face burns as memory after memory floods in. His hands, his mouth, the way he whispered your name like it meant something.
Nope. Not thinking about that.
Carefully, you shift beneath the covers, untangling yourself from his hold. Luke stirs but doesn’t wake, his arm slipping away as you ease yourself upright.
That’s when it really hits you.
He looks so young.
His chestnut curls are a mess, his lips slightly parted, his entire face softened in sleep. He looks… peaceful. Innocent, almost.
A strange unease settles in your stomach.
Your gaze flickers around the unfamiliar room. It’s nice but lived-in—hockey gear shoved into the corner, a few discarded clothes on a chair. Your eyes land on the nightstand, where his wallet sits slightly open.
You don’t mean to snoop. You really don’t.
But something about last night nags at you.
Just a quick peek. Just to make sure.
Fingers trembling, you reach for it, flip it open.
And your heart stops.
Luke Hughes. Age: 21.
Twenty fucking one.
As in, young enough to still pull all-nighters for fun. As in, could still be in college.
And you? You are twenty-seven.
Oh. My. God.
Your hands fly to your phone as you furiously type out a message to your friend.
"WHAT THE HELL?! YOU SET ME UP WITH A 21-YEAR-OLD. I AM A GROWN WOMAN. I PAY FOR MY OWN HEALTH INSURANCE."
No response.
Coward.
Panic thrums in your veins as you stare at Luke—still peacefully asleep, completely unaware that you are having a full-blown identity crisis in his bed.
You need to leave. Now.
Right?
But for some reason, you hesitate.
Because Luke… Luke is the first guy in a long time who actually made you interested. Who made you laugh so hard you snorted into your drink. Who listened—really listened—when you talked, instead of just waiting for his turn to speak. And, well. The man or more like a boy, had managed to get you to orgasm. Twice!
Which, considering your track record, felt almost miraculous.
Your past partners had barely managed to get you there once—if at all.
And now you’re just supposed to sneak out of here like it never happened? Like he was just another bad decision?
Your stomach twists.
But then you glance at the wallet again. Twenty-one.
Yeah. You need to go.
Sliding out of bed as silently as possible, you scan the room for your clothes. Your shirt is on the floor, your jeans halfway under the bed. You grab them quickly, yanking them on with the precision of someone defusing a bomb. Bra? Found. Socks? One is missing, but you’ll live.
Once fully dressed, you tiptoe to the door. Your shoes. They’re outside the room. You remember kicking them off in the hallway.
One deep breath.
You ease the door open, peeking into the dimly lit living room.
Empty.
Good.
You take two careful steps out, eyes locked on your shoes near the front door. Almost there. Just a few more—
“Busted.”
You scream.
Not a blood-curdling horror movie scream, but a very real, very startled yelp that absolutely does not help you maintain any dignity in this situation.
Your body jolts like you’ve just been electrocuted, arms flailing wildly as you spin toward the voice.
There, sprawled across the couch, is a guy watching you like this is the best morning of his life.
Tall. Ridiculously handsome. Light brown hair, messy in a way that suggests he just woke up. Sharp cheekbones. Blue eyes filled with pure mischief.
And a smirk so unbearably smug that you immediately want to punch it off his face.
You clutch your chest, heart racing. “Jesus Christ, who the hell are you?!”
The guy grins wider. “Damn. Didn’t even recognize me? That hurts.”
“Am I supposed to?”You blink, still catching your breath.
His smirk falters for half a second before returning full force. “Oh, that’s good. That’s really good.” He tilts his head, studying you like you’re some kind of rare specimen. “You actually have no idea who I am, do you?”
“Why the hell would I?” Your frown deepens.
He lets out a dramatic sigh, like this is somehow the greatest tragedy to ever befall him.
“You’re telling me,” he starts, sitting up slightly, resting his arms on his knees, fully entertained, “that you came home with my brother, slept with him, and have no idea who we are?”
Your stomach drops.
Brother?
You knew Luke had brothers—he mentioned it—but you had no idea they were famous.
Your eyes flick toward the bedroom, then back to him. “You’re—wait, you’re one of Luke’s brothers?”
He snorts. “Wow. No recognition at all. That is humbling.”
“Should I recognize you?” You narrow your eyes at him.
“Oh, I don’t know.” He shrugs, mock-offended, but there’s a glint of amusement in his eyes. “I guess I’m only one of the most famous people in this city.”
You blink, a little thrown off. “…You’re a local weatherman?”
He chokes, eyes widening. “A what?!”
“You’re acting like I should know you,” you say, raising an eyebrow. “I don’t keep up with the news, but you definitely have the vibe of a guy who points at maps for a living.”
He definitely doesn’t. If anything, he looks more like a kooky stripper with an annoyingly fit body. But there’s no way you’re feeding his ego—this idiot would probably take it as a compliment.
For a split second, he just stares at you, his mouth hanging slightly open.
Then, as if the tension snaps, he howls—full-body laughter, throwing his head back and wiping a fake tear from his eye.
“Oh my God,” he wheezes, clutching his stomach. “This is the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
You cross your arms, trying to mask the irritation bubbling up. “Glad I could contribute to your morning entertainment.”
“No, you don’t get it,” he says between gasps for air, leaning forward with an infectious grin. “This is amazing. Incredible. I live for moments like this.”
You raise an eyebrow, your patience wearing thin. “Moments like what?” you snap, unable to hide the rising edge in your voice. Honestly, you’re just relieved Luke didn’t inherit Jack’s over-the-top, obnoxious personality. If he had, you probably would’ve bailed on this blind date five minutes in.
“Moments where I get to witness something so spectacularly awkward, so painfully embarrassing, that it will sustain me for weeks.”
You glare at him with pure annoyance. “I hate you already.”
He clutches his chest dramatically. “Ouch. That wounds me.”
“You’ll survive.”
“Oh, no doubt.” He smirks, and for a moment, it almost reminds you of Luke—though the two brothers couldn’t look more different. But that same confidante smile? It’s unmistakable. “Especially since I now have the upper hand in every conversation we ever have from here on out.”
“We’re never having another conversation after this!” You try to sound firm, but your voice cracks, betraying you.
He just grins wider, shaking his head like he’s heard that before. “That’s what you think.”
You exhale sharply, fed up with the entire exchange. “Look, I’m leaving. Forget you ever saw me.”
“Not a chance.” He leans back against the couch, thoroughly amused. “You’re trying to sneak out of my baby brother’s room like a damn criminal. This is gold.”
You scowl again. “I’m not sneaking out.” You fumble with your shoes, trying to get them on while defending yourself. Luckily, the hallway and living room are one open space, making your escape a bit less awkward.
“You literally just tiptoed past me like you’re starring in Mission Impossible.”
You groan. "I was trying not to wake him up." Rolling your eyes, you keep wrestling with your damn laces—of all times to betray you, it had to be now. Frustration bubbles up as you huff, "I need to go."
Jack cocks an eyebrow. "Why?"
You freeze mid-motion, exhaling hard through your nose. "...Just because."
"That's not an answer." His arms fold across his chest, his gaze pressing into you like he’s daring you to crack.
Your stomach twists. Heat rises to your face. You don’t want to say it, don’t want to give him the satisfaction—but the words rip out anyway.
“Because I just found out I slept with a 21-year-old, okay?! I’m 27. That’s a six-year difference! That’s a whole presidential term and a little extra! That’s a—”
You stop, realizing how ridiculous it sounds now that you're saying it.
Jack stares at you, blinking. There’s a long silence before you speak again, but his expression shows no understanding of the mental chaos you’re in.
You sigh and tug at your hair in frustration. “I wasn’t expecting this. I thought maybe he was older, and now… I just don’t know how to feel.”
Jack, for the first time, softens his teasing expression. But it’s clear he doesn’t quite get what you’re saying.
“Well,” he shrugs casually, “you’re still not leaving. You’re stuck here until Luke wakes up.”
“No, I’m not.” You shake your head, stubborn.
“Yes, you are!”
Before you can argue, you hear movement from the bedroom.
“Jack, why are you yelling?”
Shit.
You freeze.
Jack just grins wider.
You turn, and there he is—Luke, standing in the hallway, shirtless, hair an absolute mess, looking at you with adorable confusion.
Jack smirks. “Oh, you know. Just chatting with your date about how she was totally about to dip.”
“Wait. You’re leaving?” Luke’s voice is a mix of confusion and hurt, and suddenly, you feel a wave of guilt wash over you.
You shift awkwardly, caught in the middle of it all. “I just… didn’t want to wake you.”
Jack snickers. “Translation: she found out you’re barely legal and panicked.”
Luke’s eyes flick to his nightstand, where his wallet still sits open.
“…Wait. Is this about my age?" He sounds confused—adorably so. Too adorably.
You open your mouth, but Jack is already cackling.
“Oh, it absolutely is,” Jack says, shaking his head. “She took one look at that ID and nearly had a full-blown existential crisis.”
Your face flushes deep red. Jesus, you really can’t stand that blue-eyed bastard.
Luke blinks, then sighs, clearly frustrated a little bit. “So, last night was… amazing, but now it’s a problem because I’m 21?”
You shift uneasily. “It’s not a problem, exactly. It’s just…”
Jack grins mischievously. “Hilarious?”
You glare at him, a mix of embarrassment and irritation burning through you. “Not the word I was going for.”
Luke tilts his head, watching you closely. “Did it feel weird last night?”
Your face instantly flames. “LUKE.”
Jack cackles. “Ohhh my God, this is so good.”
Luke shrugs nonchalantly. “I’m just saying. You didn’t seem to mind my age when you were begging for—”
You lunge at him, quickly slapping a hand over his mouth. “Don’t. You. Dare.”
Jack, leaning in with barely contained joy, grins wider. “Oh, no, let’s hear it! This is the best! I live for this shit.”
You whip around, shooting daggers. “Do you really have to be here?”
Jack places a hand over his chest, feigning innocence. "Of course I do. I’m just the clueless bystander, watching your meltdown. It’s my duty as a brother. How else am I supposed to tease Lukey later?"
Luke licks his lips, glancing between you and Jack. “Wait… so you’re really freaking out over this?”
You sigh, your frustration starting to boil over. "I just… didn’t realize you were so young."
Jack snickers from the side, clearly enjoying himself. “Oh, no, I think she’s just overthinking it. But hey, it’s cute.”
Luke shoots him a glare. “Jack.”
Jack raises his hands, completely unbothered. “I’m just here to state the obvious.”
You groan, feeling a headache start to form at the base of your skull. "Can I just… go? Please?" The words come out sharper than you mean, but you’re too tired to care.
Luke looks at you, his gaze softening with that same sleepy affection from last night. You almost hate how it makes your chest ache. "You really want to leave?"
You pause for a long moment, considering.
And truthfully?
No.
You don’t.
Last night wasn’t just a fling—it was Luke.
Luke, who had you laughing through dinner, making you feel like you were the only person in the world. He treated you like you were someone worth admiring, someone worth cherishing. And when he kissed you, it felt like the first rainstorm after a drought, washing away everything but the two of you.
And now he’s standing there, messy-haired and sleepy-eyed, looking at you like he’s trying to figure out what’s going through your mind.
Jack, sensing the shift, leans back dramatically. “Ohhh, she’s thinking about it.”
You glare. “Shut up, Jack.”
Jack smirks like a little kid in the candy shop. “Nope.”
Luke lets out a heavy sigh, rubbing his face with both hands, his puppy like eyes softening as he looks at you. "Alright," he mutters, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "Let me make you breakfast before you decide I’m too young to function."
Jack perks up from the couch. “Oh, hell yeah. Stay. Luke makes a mean omelet.”
Luke shoots Jack a teasing glare, his eyes rolling in exasperation as he half-smirks. "Why are you even involved in this?" he says, clearly annoyed but with a playful edge, like he can’t decide if he should laugh or strangle his brother.
Jack shrugs dramatically. “Because I live for chaos.”
You hesitate for a moment, staring at Luke as you battle the urge to stay or run.
“…Fine. One omelet.”
Jack fist-pumps the air. “YES.”
Luke grins like he’s already won. “Good. Because I was going to make you stay anyway.”
You don’t know how you ended up here.
One second, you were committed to sneaking out like a thief in the night. The next?
You’re standing in Luke Hughes’ kitchen, watching him move around with annoying ease, pulling eggs and cheese out of the fridge like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
Jack, of course, is sitting at the kitchen island, grinning like the mischievous idiot he is.
“You look tense,” he observes, propping his chin in his hand and resting his elbows on his knees. “Regretting staying already?”
You shoot him a withering look. “I regret a lot of things. Letting you talk this morning is at the top of the list.”
Jack gasps dramatically, clutching his chest. “Ouch. And here I was, being such a warm and welcoming host.”
You roll your eyes. “You ambushed me.”
Jack shrugs casually, sipping his coffee. “Semantics.”
Luke, bless him, doesn’t engage. He simply smirks to himself as he cracks an egg into a pan, clearly used to Jack’s shenanigans. “Jack, are you actually gonna eat, or are you just here to be annoying?”
“Oh, I ate already. I’m just here for the show.”
You narrow your eyes at him, a smirk playing at the corner of your mouth. “Seriously, what’s your deal? You get some kind of thrill out of torturing me?”
He’s an asshole, but damn, he’s the kind of asshole that almost makes you laugh.
Jack flashes a devilish grin, clearly enjoying the chaos he's creating. "You're sharp. I like that. Smart women are way more fun to mess with." He leans back, arms crossed, his eyes twinkling with mischief as if he's already plotting his next move.
Luke huffs a laugh, the sound full of fond exasperation. He rolls his eyes, his messy hair falling into his face as he nudges Jack with his shoulder. “Just ignore him. He thrives on being a menace,” he says, shaking his head, but you can tell he's not actually mad.
Jack grins even wider, clearly proud of himself. “Yep. It’s what I do best,” he says, puffing out his chest like he’s just announced some kind of grand achievement.
You rest your elbows on the table, watching as Luke flips an omelet with impressive skill. “Okay, I’ll bite—how did you get so good at this?”
“Gotta learn some life skills when you live with Jack. Otherwise, you starve." He shoots his brother a pointed look, one that’s half annoyance, half fondness.
Jack scoffs, dramatically pressing a hand to his chest like he’s been wronged. "That’s unfair. I provide entertainment." His voice is teasing, but there’s a clear twinkle in his eye.
Luke snorts, barely stifling a laugh. "Entertainment doesn’t make up for the fact that you once tried to microwave a frozen pizza."
Your head snaps up at that, eyebrows shooting up in disbelief. "I’m sorry, what?"
Jack groans, cheeks flushing with a rare hint of embarrassment. "It was one time, and the oven took too long!" he mutters defensively, but you can see the red creeping up his neck.
Luke smirks, his eyes gleaming with mischief as he gestures vaguely toward the stove. "You almost burned the apartment down," he points out, no trace of sympathy in his voice.
Jack waves a dismissive hand. "That’s an exaggeration," he says, clearly attempting to downplay the incident, but his voice betrays the tiniest hint of guilt.
Luke shoots you a sly look, his eyes dancing with amusement as he leans in, like he’s about to let you in on a secret. “The microwave was smoking,” he adds, his voice dropping low, the tone almost playful—like he’s about to drop some juicy gossip.
Your jaw drops in disbelief. "Oh my God."
Luke, clearly pleased with the chaos he’s caused, gestures at Jack with the spatula like he’s just won some kind of victory. "See? This is why I learned how to cook."
Jack grins wide, unbothered. "And I get to reap the benefits, so really, we both win," he says with a cheeky shrug, as if his utter lack of skill somehow balances out Luke’s culinary expertise.
You laugh, shaking your head in disbelief. "I don’t know how you put up with him."
Luke smirks,"It’s a daily struggle," he says, voice deadpan, but the small curve of his lips gives away the amusement he’s trying to hide.
Jack grins, shaking his head slightly. “Oh, the betrayal. I’m crushed,” he says, his voice dripping with sarcasm, though the smirk gives him away.
Luke just rolls his eyes and slides the finished omelet onto a plate before setting it down in front of you.
You look down at it, genuinely impressed by how perfect it looks. Then, you glance back at Luke, a little taken aback. "Not gonna lie… this looks really good."
Luke’s grin widens, his eyes briefly locking with yours, the kind of connection that makes the moment feel charged. "Told you."
You pick up your fork, still a little skeptical, and take a bite. Holy hell.
Your eyes go wide in surprise. "Oh my God. This is actually amazing."
Jack leans in, looking smug...again. "See? I wasn’t lying." He gives you a little wink, clearly basking in the moment like he’s somehow been proven right.
Luke smirks, pleased by the compliment. “I take my breakfast very seriously.”
“Clearly. This might be the best decision I’ve made today.” You shake your head, chewing.
Jack gasps dramatically. “Wow. So staying was a better decision than leaving?”
You pause, realizing what you just admitted.
Jack grins like he’s just scored a win, and for a second, you seriously consider wiping that smug look off his face.
Luke’s smile, however, is filled with pure happiness, as if this moment is exactly what he’s been waiting for.
You sigh, stabbing your omelet. “I’m never gonna live this down, am I?”
Jack beams. “Absolutely not.”
Luke leans closer, his voice suddenly lower, more intimate. “I mean, I’m glad you stayed. It’s not every day I get a pretty girl in my kitchen, making my morning way more interesting.”
You freeze, fork halfway to your mouth. His words hang in the air, electric.
“Oh, so now I’m ‘pretty,’ huh?” you tease, trying to maintain your composure, though your heart skips a beat.
Luke raises an eyebrow, a slow, confident smile curling on his lips. “Oh, I thought that was obvious.” His gaze flickers down to your lips, his voice dropping even lower. “You’ve been keeping me on my toes since I woke up.”
Your cheeks warm, but you force yourself to look away, focusing on your omelet. “Flattery won’t make me forget about you being 21.”
Luke’s grin widens, and he leans in a little closer, lowering his voice just enough that only you can hear. “Maybe not. But I think it’s a pretty good start.”
Jack, completely oblivious to the flirtation unfolding right under his nose, leans back on the kitchen island with a self-satisfied grin. “God, I can’t believe I’m witnessing this. I thought I was supposed to be the one who charmed the ladies.”
Luke snorts, rolling his eyes at his brother but keeping his focus on you. “Jack’s the type to talk about it. I’m the type to show it.”
Your breath catches in your throat. That was smooth. Really smooth.
You take another bite of your omelet, trying to hide the smile spreading across your face. “You sure you don’t just want me to stay for the food?”
Luke leans back, his gaze softening as he gently takes your left hand in his, his thumb slowly tracing circles over your knuckles. “I mean… if that’s your only reason for sticking around, I won’t complain,” he murmurs, a playful yet tender smile curving his lips. “But I like to think I’ve got more to offer than just my cooking skills.”
His words, along with the warmth in his eyes, wash over you like a wave, pulling you in deeper. You lock eyes with him, your breath catching as your pulse quickens. There’s something in the way he’s looking at you, something that makes it impossible to think straight.
Then Jack clears his throat loudly, and you break the spell, feeling a little embarrassed.
“Alright, alright,” Jack says, clearly enjoying the discomfort he’s just caused. “I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone so you can finish your breakfast in peace. No need to make me a third wheel.”
You roll your eyes, but Luke doesn’t seem to mind. He just shrugs, unfazed.
“Good idea. Go entertain yourself, Jack.”
Jack winks. “Don’t mind if I do.” He stands up and heads for the door, adding, “You two just make sure to keep it PG—some of us don’t need to see that much chemistry before our coffee kicks in.”
You watch as Jack exits, still grinning like the mischievous brat he is.
As the door clicks behind Jack, the quiet of the kitchen settles in, leaving just you and Luke alone, the lingering tension between you two impossible to ignore. Luke shifts, his hands still resting on your hands as he pulls you gently into his lap. Your heart beats a little faster at the sudden closeness, but you refuse to let the thrill of it distract you from the conversation you know needs to happen.
You take a deep breath, looking up into his eyes—eyes that are soft but hold that familiar spark of mischief, the kind that makes it hard to think straight. He tilts his head slightly, a playful smirk tugging at his lips as he runs his thumb over your hand, tracing slow circles. The warmth of his touch makes your breath hitch, but you bite your lip, determined to have this talk.
“Luke,” you start, your voice softer than you intended, “We need to talk about last night. About... us.”
Luke's expression changes, the playful gleam fading into something more intense. He doesn’t pull away, though. Instead, he tightens his grip on your waist, pulling you just a little closer, and his voice drops an octave. “I thought we were past talking. I thought we were just... enjoying each other.”
His words make your pulse quicken, but you hold firm. You need to address this.
“I’m serious,” you say, your voice steady, though your chest betrays you with its nervous flutter. “I need to know where this is going, Luke. You’re 21, I’m 27. That’s a six-year difference. I’ve been through more in my life. I want a family soon. I want stability. Not... something fleeting.”
Luke’s gaze darkens, and his thumb continues its slow, soothing motion over your skin, but there’s a new intensity in his eyes. He’s quiet for a moment, absorbing your words. The air feels thick with unspoken thoughts, the weight of what you’ve just said hanging between you.
“You think I don’t want the same things?” he asks, his voice steady but with a sharp edge, not defensive—more... thoughtful. “I’m not some kid just looking for a fling. I’ve thought this through. I’m looking for something real. I’ve spent too much time in meaningless situations to want that anymore. I went to our date because I was looking for something serious. And my friend told me you’d be looking for the same thing.”
He lets your words settle, his eyes never leaving yours. “After spending the night talking with you, I felt like I wasn’t just talking to someone who’s interesting—I felt like I was talking to someone who gets it. Someone who’s looking for the same kind of connection. I’m not here for something that’ll fizzle out in a few weeks. I’m here because... I think you might be the person I’ve been waiting for.”
His words hit you in a way you weren’t prepared for. You’re caught off guard, unsure how to respond, but something stirs inside you. Something warm, something you didn’t expect. You can feel the truth of what he’s saying in your chest, and for the first time, you start to question the assumptions you’d made.
“Yeah, but you’re still figuring things out,” you say, your voice shaky now, a trace of worry creeping in. “You’re just starting out in life. Maybe you don’t want the same kind of commitment I do. I need someone who’s already ready to settle down.”
Luke doesn’t hesitate. His fingers slide up to your jaw, his touch firm but tender, like he’s grounding you to the moment. His gaze holds yours, no longer playful, but filled with something deeper. Something real.
“I’m ready for that,” he murmurs, his voice soft but full of conviction. “I know what I want. And I want you. If you’re worried about my age, let me show you I’m more than just a number.”
His words are almost a whisper, but there’s a quiet confidence in them that sends a thrill through you. His lips are so close now, you can feel his breath on your skin as he leans in, his forehead resting against yours. “I’m not asking for a lifetime yet, but I’m asking for the chance to prove myself. To prove that I’m capable of giving you the kind of future you want.”
You close your eyes, your breath catching in your throat. He’s not backing down, and the sincerity in his words leaves you no room to doubt him. But still, you can’t help but voice the doubts that swirl in your mind.
“I don’t want to get hurt, Luke,” you whisper, finally letting yourself admit the fear you’ve been pushing down. “I’ve been through enough heartache. And if you don’t want the same things I do, if you’re not ready for it... I don’t know if I can take that risk.”
Luke leans in just a little more, his lips brushing against your cheek before he pulls back slightly, his hands cradling your face. He’s close enough that you can feel the warmth of his skin, the steadiness of his gaze. “I’m ready for you. Ready for everything that comes with it,” he says, his voice resolute. “I wouldn’t be here, sitting with you like this, if I wasn’t.”
You search his eyes for any sign of hesitation, but there’s none. What you see instead is determination—an unspoken promise that, for all his age, he knows what he wants and is willing to fight for it.
The air between you two shifts, the quiet between you no longer heavy with doubt, but filled with something new. Something that makes your pulse race.
“Okay,” you whisper, your voice barely audible. “Then show me.”
At that, his lips crash against yours, the kiss deep and slow, filled with all the unspoken things you’ve both been dancing around. His hands slide to your back, pulling you closer as the kiss deepens. Your hands find their way to his curls, tugging him in as if you can’t get close enough. The world around you fades away—there’s only the feeling of his mouth against yours, the pressure of his body against yours, the shared certainty that whatever this is, it’s more than just physical.
When you finally pull away, both breathless, Luke grins, his forehead resting against yours.
Luke leans back a little bit, his eyes gleaming with that mischievous glint as he watches you, a teasing smile playing at the corners of his lips. "You know," he says casually, his voice thick with satisfaction, "I have to admit... I’ve never had a night quite like that. You really know how to use that beautiful mouth of yours."
You glance over at him, raising an eyebrow. "Oh? What do you mean?"
Luke shifts a little closer, his grin widening. "Well, I’ve had my fair share of nights, but... last night? You...You were next level. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to be that blown away."
You feel your cheeks flush, a mix of embarrassment and flattery. "Really? Well, I kinda feel the same. I’ve never... finished two times in one night."
Luke’s eyes narrow in surprise. "What?! Baby, that wasn’t even that much. I think we can go for four or five next time." He winks, his tone playful, but there's a hint of challenge in his voice.
You laugh, trying to hide the blush creeping up your neck. "Is that so? You really think you can keep up?"
Luke smirks, leaning in just a little closer, his voice low and confident. "Oh, I’m definitely up for the challenge. You just wait."
You raise an eyebrow, a teasing smile forming on your lips. "Maybe this whole 'young boyfriend' thing isn’t such a bad idea after all... Good stamina and all that."
Luke grins, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Told ya!" He leans in, planting a series of quick, soft kisses across your face and neck, each one sending a delightful shiver through your skin. You can't help but laugh at his actions, brushing your nose against his cheek as your giggles mix with his gentle kisses.
Just as you're starting to recover from his playful assault, a voice slices through the moment like an ice-cold splash of water.
"Can you drop the sex talk, guys?" Jack's voice rings out from the kitchen doorway, dripping with disgust but clearly amused by the whole situation. "I didn’t need to know this much about my little brother."
You freeze, eyes wide, before you turn to Luke, who looks utterly unfazed, that smug, victorious grin plastered across his face. It’s as if he’s just won some kind of prize, and he's wearing it like a badge of honor.
Embarrassment creeps up your neck, but before you can even process the awkwardness, you find yourself laughing. The tension dissolves in the shared amusement of the moment. Luke just shrugs casually, looking way too pleased with himself.
"Relax, Jack. It’s called maturity," you reply with a wink, and Luke chuckles, pressing another kiss to your cheek.
Jack groans dramatically, rolling his eyes. "You two are gross. And seriously, for the future, we need some rules. These walls are way too thin. I do not need to hear you two in action. Thank God I wasn’t home yesterday."
You let out a horrified gasp, hiding your face in Luke’s neck. "Jesus, Jack," you mumble, half laughing, half mortified.
Luke just keeps laughing, clearly entertained by the situation. "You heard nothing. Just a couple of adults figuring things out," he teases.
Jack mutters something under his breath before calling out with a playful, exaggerated gag. "God, I need to vomit. You two are so disgusting."
"Guess this means you're sticking around, huh?" Luke whispers against your mouth, his voice low and warm, sending another wave of heat through you.
You nod, content, leaning into him with a soft smile. "Guess so," you murmur, brushing your lips against his in return.
Jack, clearly fed up with the display, huffs dramatically and walks away with an exaggerated sigh. "You two are the worst."
As he exits, you look up at Luke, feeling that warmth in your chest—the comfort, the excitement, all mixed together. You can get used to mornings like this, even if it means dealing with Jack’s teasing. Or, you think with a smirk, maybe you’ll just strangle him in his sleep. Problem solved.
Luke catches the glint in your eye and chuckles, clearly knowing exactly what you’re thinking.
“Careful,” he says with a playful smirk, “I’d hate to lose my new favourite person just because you can’t handle my brother.”
You laugh, pulling him in for one last kiss.

What is financial abuse?
Financial or economic abuse occurs when an abusive partner extends their power and control into your financial situation.
As with all types of abuse, financial abuse is rooted in the desire of one partner to have power and control over the other. A partner who chooses to abuse will control their partner’s finances or their ability to provide for themselves through a job or public assistance they receive.
Signs of financial abuse:
Gives you “allowances” or “budgets” without your input
Requiring you to account for everything you spend
Pressures you to quit your job or sabotages your work responsibilities
Feels entitled to your money or assets
Spends your money without your knowledge
Controls how all of the household finances are spent
Limits your ability to attend job training, pursue higher education, or otherwise advance your career
Limits your access to your own bank account or mutual bank accounts
Lives in your home without working or helping with household tasks
Maxes out credit cards in your name (and then doesn’t make payments on those credit cards)
Threatens to cut you off financially when you disagree
Uses funds from children’s savings account without mutual agreement
Prevents you from working by hiding your keys, or offering to babysit and then not showing up
Engages in other forms of abuse like belittling or physical abuse when they get angry over your spending habits
How to prepare to escape financial abuse:
Tips:
Make sure you have steady work with an income that can support you and any dependents.
Stay involved with and informed about shared financial decisions.
Save and maintain an emergency fund that only you can access.
Safeguard personal and financial information such as bank account logins or your Social Security number.
Check your credit reports regularly for fraudulent activity.
Watch for warning signs of financial control and abuse.
Make a safety plan
Planning:
Assess your situation: Inventory your resources, including your income, cash, savings, investments, and property such as a car or home. For shared assets like a jointly owned car or a lease you both signed, you may want to review your state’s laws and talk to a victim advocate to understand your rights.
Find resources or people who can aid you: Next, add in non-monetary resources and support, such as help offered by a friend or assistance from a local domestic violence shelter.
Document your budget: Finally, list your expenses and liabilities, such as debt, bills, a mortgage, or a shared lease. "Consider a budget of all living expenses you will need to cover once you safely leave," Golden said. "This will give you an idea of what needs to be accounted for and immediate expenses that you are likely to incur."
Set up an independent account: Set money aside in this fund, aiming to cover your projected costs of leaving the relationship and reestablishing yourself. "This money may come from income or bonuses at work, but also friends and family, or support organizations who may be able to provide some financial assistance," Golden suggested.
Find independent sources of money: In your safety plan, include steps to generate extra income, find new work, or protect your existing employment. This may include selling belongings for cash, rounding up charges from purchases and pocketing the spare change, adding small value visa gift cards to shopping trips to store away, helping babysit for neighbors, etc.
Be aware of your credit status: Pull your free credit reports and review all accounts, Golden advised. "If you are worried about your partner adding additional debt in your name, you can place a fraud alert freeze on your credit bureaus," he added.
Get your own independent insurance: If you have health insurance through your abusive partner's employment, for example, look into alternative coverage through your employer, the ACA exchange, or Medicaid. Make a list of insurance policies you share with your partner, such as car or renters insurance. Start researching the costs of purchasing a separate policy, and use this list to remove yourself from shared accounts after leaving.
How to rebuild your finances after financial abuse:
Open a bank account and start saving: Choose a reputable bank that fits your needs. Some offer in-person budgeting help or options to help customers manage their finances online. Larger national banks typically offer a wider range of services and accessibility, while smaller local banks or credit unions can bring a personal touch to the banking process. Do your own research and ask friends or family for recommendations. Also, consider the fees associated with your account.
Prioritize saving a little of every paycheck if you can: Prioritize saving a little of every paycheck for an emergency fund. Experts recommend directing 20 percent of your paycheck toward savings, but begin with whatever you’re able to save. Not having the money to cover unexpected expenses can have a lasting impact on your finances and cause you to go into debt.
Create a budget for yourself: To start planning your budget, determine what works best for you and your financial goals. There are several techniques that you can try.
Make a plan to manage credit card debt: Balance transfer credit cards can help you manage payments, consolidate debt and cut interest costs. Here’s how it works: You transfer one or more credit card balances to a single card, ideally one that offers 0 percent interest for several months. This way, you have a while to get on your feet and pay what you can without worrying about accumulating interest charges. Another option for those with bad or no credit is a debt consolidation loan, which allows you to combine multiple debts into an unsecured personal loan.Though you’re likely to receive a higher interest rate the lower your credit score is, it’s possible to get a debt consolidation loan with bad credit. Before making the decision to get a debt consolidation loan, make sure the interest you’ll be paying is lower than what your credit card (or other debts) are currently charging, and take into account any fees associated with the loan.
Build your credit score: There are lots of ways to build credit — such as taking out a personal loan or making car payments — but one of the easiest is to apply for a credit card and make timely monthly payments. If you’re rebuilding your finances or are a first-time credit card user, there are many great options that charge no annual fee, so you won’t take on any additional costs that may hinder your progress.
More resources that can help you rebuild:
Local food banks
Government assistance (if you're in the US, call 211)
Domestic abuse coalitions and organizations
Find domestic abuse help in your area. This is a global resource!
maybe i’m a joyless bitch but i actually do NOT think it’s funny to see women being like “the house is just in my husbands name” or “my husband makes all the money” or “i don’t even know who our mortgage is with” or “the only bank account/credit card is his and i get an allowance” like i do NOT find that cute or romantic and i am begging these women to Stand Up. you should at least be named on the deed to your house and the title to your car and the bank accounts even if you don’t pay for them/earn all the money. you can’t stop existing in the eyes of the law and the credit unions simply because you have a husband. if you’re raising his children and washing his socks half of everything he’s got is yours and it needs to be yours LEGALLY BY NAME. "he takes such good care of me :)" girl you are a PRISONER!! that’s all

Always Tomorrow
1.8K / Javier Pena x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Javier chooses an impossible new year's resolution.
Warnings: Longing, pining. Allusion to past relationship. Cigarettes.
A/N: A quick one for the same couple from Birthday Present and Photocopies; written for @beefrobeefcal's New Year, Same Pena challenge. Can be read as standalone, but if you follow them, this takes place ~a month after Photocopies (includes a few references to what happened in that instalment); there's a clue in here re: the truth about what happened if you squint, and if you squint a little less, some hope.
Dividers by @saradika-graphics 😘/ Should I make this an official series/collection and make a masterlist?
Tumblr media
“So, you fellas make any new year’s resolutions?”
The Ambassador’s seemingly innocuous question slices through the curls of smoke swirling upwards from the overflowing ashtray in the centre of the conference table and causes Javier to stiffen.
“To put the lid down on the toilet.  Connie’s request,” quips Steve.  The joke is a bit too juvenile and lighthearted for the serious nature of today’s debrief on Search Bloc’s updated strategy for the new year – both Murphy and Crosby’s resulting laughter is superficial, perfunctory.  Javier remains silent, pensive – preoccupied by both the myriads of tactical plans and diagrams spread across the table and his own answer.
“What about you, Agent Peña?”
He wants to glare at the older man.  Spit out his new year’s resolutions with the same soul-eroding venom it took to make them in the first place and watch as the Chief of Mission absorbed the acidity behind their meaning:
To stop being such a creep and stay away from you.
Even now in this very moment, Javier’s failing at his resolve; covetous eyes instinctively drawn to the hypnotic sway of your hips in that dress of yours that always made his heart skip - you’ve appeared out of nowhere, as if Javier’s very thoughts conjured you. He only wishes he held such a power.
Sauntering into the boardroom, your graceful but decisive steps bring you straight to the Ambassador, to whom you hand a folder and whisper your purpose.  Does Javier unwittingly lick his lips at the sight of your plush pout fluttering open and closed?  Only Murphy notices.  Is Agent Peña imagining how the warmth of your sweet breath might feel on his neck if he were on the receiving end of your quiet words?  He is.  The ever present regret in his heart reminds him that there was a time when he didn’t have to imagine.
He's jolted out of his daze when you brush past him and Steve with a professional but friendly, Agent to each man.  Even the curt moniker sounds like a song in your angelic voice - Javier closes his eyes, an attempt to slow down time and soak in your melody a little longer.
The bounce of your hair, held back prettily by silver hair clips he gifted, floats your fragrant shampoo behind you and Javier inhales it greedily – the sweet smell instantly transporting him back to when he would breathe it fresh from its source; nose buried your hair as you curled up, sated in his arms - your naked body still warm from the shower entangling with his in the once crisp, now damp sheets of your shared bed.
“Peña?”
Mierda. So much for not being a creep.
“My new year’s resolution?  To catch Escobar.”
“Good man,” a supportive palm is clasped onto Javier’s shoulder as the Ambassador turns back towards the paperwork on the table.
Yeah right.  A good man would leave you alone, not invent the flimsiest of excuses to walk past the window next to your desk every chance he got just to catch a glimpse of you.  A good man wouldn’t try to time his arrival at work to coincide with yours, marking the time he shares your same air in the elevator as the most blissful thirty seconds of his day.
Well, I’m not a good man, concedes Javier, but I am NOT a quitter either.
Too many hours later after the briefing finally concludes, Javier purposefully takes the long way back from the conference room to the DEA’s office so he can walk by your department.  He’s checking his watch after noticing that your desk sits empty, your belongings gone, when he spies the pretty shape of you disappear down the hall and around the corner towards the elevators.
Without even thinking, Javier breaks out into a sprint so he can slip into your elevator just as the doors start to close.  The elevator is packed with embassy staff eager to leave work; though the DEA agent cannot see you, he can feel you.  Javier’s shoulders sag in relief just to be this close to you again.
When he exits on the main floor, Javier walks swiftly towards the front doors – pretending that going out for a cigarette had been his intention all along.  He’s just lighting up when you fly past him and down the embassy steps towards your waiting car.  He adores you from behind - you're oblivious to him memorizing the curl of your fingers in the handle of the opening car door and the grace with which you slip in the backseat. Ever unaware of your admiring audience, the chime of your greeting to your driver rings loud and joyous even from where Javier stands.  For the second time today, Agent Peña closes his eyes to replay your voice in his mind – taking a deep drag of his cigarette as he does so; the twin high from having been in the vicinity of your being, your voice, your smell and the nicotine making him slightly lightheaded.
“Don’t most people quit cigarettes for their new year’s resolution, Peña?”
Opening his eyes, Javier sees one of his CIA counterparts standing next to him, chuckling as he himself pulls out his own pack.
“Nah.  I like a challenge for my resolutions,” Javier half jokes.
“Oh yeah?  How’s it going so far?”
Not sure if he’s happy or resigned at the truth, Javier confesses, “Failing miserably.”
“Well, there’s always tomorrow, buddy.”
“Yeah, always tomorrow,” agrees Javier, wistful - his softened eyes following your car as it leaves the embassy grounds.
Tumblr media
You
When you walked into the big conference room to update Ambassador Crosby on the Columbian-US trade fluctuation analysis he had asked for, you weren’t at all offended that he didn’t include you in the new year’s resolutions conversation.  The man had already engaged you in what seemed to be his current go-to small talk topic earlier this morning over breakfast.
You had answered something believable about procrastinating less, improving your Spanish, to which he had approvingly nodded.
Your actual resolutions for the new year are for you and you alone:
To break though to Javier Peña and make him confess the truth to you.
After your run in with Javi in the photocopier room a month ago, you had forced yourself to push past the hurt of having his betrayal thrown in your face and sat down to really contemplate the interaction.  His soft confessions, vulnerable and pure, were so reminiscent of the Javi you had loved – the man who had so much compassion and empathy in that hidden heart of his that whenever he felt safe enough to lay it bare, it couldn’t help but overflow.  Further tearing down your already crumbling walls was the memory of his kisses - they had melted you near instantly, your own lips as desperate and wanting as his to be reunited.  And his eyes - the look in Javi's eyes that day had threatened to drown you with the intensity of devotion and love that you saw storming within.
For a brief moment, your Javi had returned to you.
And then you think back to your birthday and the thoughtful, considerate gift he wanted you to have but never took the credit for.  So characteristic of the man to give and give, never taking anything for himself.
It had been the same when the two of you were together before.  You let yourself revisit the times you felt the safest, cherished, understood while you were in Columbia and they were all moments spent in the rough agent’s arms.  He had given you patience, kindness, and tenderness – his everything; not once did he demand anything in return, though Javi would never admit that he yearned for the same. You saw through his facade easily and showered him with your support, comfort, calm – all given freely and without reservation; and for that, he had loved you fiercely.  He had known you and you had known him, the real Javi beneath his gruff exterior armour.
Something he said that day in the photocopier room struck you as odd:
You deserve someone who can give you the best things in life.  You deserve someone better than me.
Those were not Javier Peña’s words.  After everything you had shared with him about your upbringing, your family and your complicated feelings about legacy and privilege, he would know that those words could never hold any weight with you.  Then why did he say it?  Whose words were they?  You don’t know but you think it’s the key to figuring out why Javi is pushing you away.
After that horrible night when you ran from the heart shattering scene in his apartment, you became convinced that your relationship and the Javi you had fallen in love with had both been a lie.  A ruse to add you as another notch on Javier Peña’s already heavily laden belt.  But the thoughtfulness of his birthday gift and then the sincerity and emotion that radiated from him during your brief reunion last month had you reconsidering that premise.  Your Javi exists, you know it.  He’s in there, locked away, and you think he still loves you.  You think you still love him, too.
So, you decided you would draw him out.
You pretend not to notice when he walks by the window next to your desk more than anyone could possibly need to, but make sure to be there as much as possible whenever he’s in the office.  You ask people to come to your desk instead of going to theirs whenever you're needed; you trouble the embassy catering staff to bring you coffee instead of going yourself to the breakroom.
You wear the clothes he loved best and always, always the silver bird barrettes he gifted you in your hair.  You’re generous with the perfume and shampoo you know he associated with your signature scent and waft by him as often as you can.  Today, for example, you could have easily left the analysis on the Ambassador’s desk, but you knew he could be found in a DEA debrief, so you went there directly instead.
You keep your schedule regular and your arrival and departure times punctual, allowing yourself to be easily found should Javi so choose.  Every morning you feel a little closer to victory when he seems to magically step into your same elevator.  At the end of today when he narrowly avoids being smushed by your closing elevator doors, you beam at the backs of the other embassy staff that stand between the two of you.
Even as you flounce down the embassy steps past Agent Peña’s broad-shoulders, you feel his eyes - you don’t need to turn around to know that he’s watching and listening, and that thought alone warms you.
Your heart sings affectionately in your chest. I’m going to keep reminding you of me so you don’t forget, you promise silently.  Come back to me and tell me the truth, please, Javi.
As your car pulls away from the curb, you driver engages you amiably, “So, Miss, how are your new year’s resolutions coming along?”
“Slow going,” you answer honestly, “but I am NOT a quitter.”
“Good for you! Just remember, there’s always tomorrow.”
“Right, always tomorrow,” you agree, feeling hopeful when you look back through the tinted rear window and see Javi’s puppy dog eyes following as you drive away.

I mentioned this on Twitter but I feel like there needs to be more acknowledgement in the whole, “Jayce/Caitlyn/Mel are bad for making/using/promoting Hextech weapons” argument about the fact that Viktor very much made Hextech weapons too!
Like, to see his cultist robots in S2 or even his own evolved form with the Hexclaw laser beam and not say, “Hey wait, those are ALSO Hextech weapons!” Is borderline willfully obtuse. Though, to be fair, it’s obtuse in a way that I think Viktor is in the moment when he makes them, so I kind of excuse people who like Viktor don’t realize they’re weapons but let’s be clear: Viktor’s cult bots are VERY MUCH Hextech weapons that are just as deadly as any created throughout the course of the show, and arguably they are the most sophisticated Hextech weapons we ever see. (“No beast is more savage than man.”)
I’m sure Viktor would argue that his Hexbots are not made to be weapons, that they’re made to capture, incapacitate, and assimilate enemies in order to stop conflict. I’m sure he’d argue his Hexclaw was only used to cut opening in walls and ceilings during his fight with Jayce and not, say, intentionally used to intimidate or threaten Jayce by blasting it right next to Jayce’s face.
But that’s because I think the whole point of Viktor’s villain arc is how much he’s LYING to himself, or the Hexcore is lying to him, depending on how much you subscribe the mind control theory. But saying the Hexbots forcefully assimilating people isn’t a weapon is ludicrous. Saying the Hexclaw laser beam isn’t a weapon has been ludicrous ever since Viktor first invented it! It put his naïveté on full display when he was shocked that anyone would use it as a weapon instead of as a tool for artisans omg it’s a fucking DEATH LASER!
And the reason I think it’s important to pull into the debate that Viktor very much made Hextech weapons too is because it stops the debate from being about who is right and who is wrong, who should be put on a pedestal and who should be damned.
Because Arcane isn’t about who is right or wrong it’s about how humans act and react during times of stress, and because of love, and because their loved ones come under attack.
Caitlyn is AGAINST Hextech weapons UNTIL the Memorial Attack pushes her over the edge, just as it was meant to when Ambessa orchestrated it.
Mel was IN FAVOR of Hextech weapons UNTIL she realized the true cost and that it was all a play by her mother to get them for herself.
Jayce was AGAINST Hextech weapons UNTIL his beloved city came under attack. Between Jinx’s terrorist attacks, Silco’s pressure campaign, and Marcus as the insider traitor whispering poison in his ear, and finally Ambessa’s expert manipulation, Jayce was at the center of a paranoia campaign pushing him to a single conclusion that they were needed. UNTIL the Shimmer factory and the death of Renni’s son when he realized the true cost of war when he once again was against them.
But, I’d argue, like with Caitlyn, Jayce’s switch to being against Hextech weapons again gets outmaneuvered by Ambessa orchestrating the Memorial Attack. Tensions are just too high to not do anything so I personally see the strike team’s personal Hextech weapons as an attempt to make the best of an impossible situation because there IS in fact an arms race going on between Piltover and Zaun and Shimmer DOES make Zaun more powerful than normal humans in a ways that seems to demand an escalation only Hextech can answer. The show doesn’t say it’s right it just says this is an imperfect decision made in desperate times by those who are otherwise against Hextech weapons. I’d argue make a half dozen weapons for an elite strike team is VASTLY different than arming an entire invasion, BUT the show doesn’t excuse it. It asks if this is ok and leave the answer deliberately gray (haha no pun intended)
But I digress.
The point is, EVERYONE has a shifting view of the merits of Hextech weaponry, and not even Viktor is exempt. Viktor tries to be a pacifist, until HE TOO faces a violent situation that destroys his faith in humanity, just like Caitlyn did at the Memorial Attack and from there he’s angry and hurt and doesn’t see any way forward except to meet wrath with wrath, ally with Ambessa, forcibly convert those who refuse to convert willingly to his vision, and remake the world in his own image using the power of Hextech and Shimmer as weapons in this cause.
And lest we forget, Viktor’s vision would lead to more widespread death and destruction through Hextech than any other character is shown to be capable of in the whole series!
Arcane is about human choices and emotions, actions and unintended consequences, not humans competing to win the Morality Olympics. Refusing to acknowledge that every character is capable of making violent decisions and turn on their own dearly held principles during moments of stress, terror, pain, and disillusionment, in favor of arguing about Who Is Better is just such a flat and unnuanced way of looking at the nuances of this story.
Viktor made Hextech weapons too. No one in power is ever innocent.

I have been told by a social justice warrior once, that “all autistic should be aborted for their own good so they don’t have to suffer.” This person did not realize I am Autistic. Because I am high-masking. God gives us this life, a random internet arguer doesn’t have the right to make that decision for us.
Most importantly, a person’s value does not rest in how they contribute to society. How much money they can bring in. Whether they can work or not. A person’s value is in being kind and showing love. I am a firm believer that love is the greatest intelligence of all. Scientists to this day, still rank Autistic people according to usefulness and their measurements of “societal expectations”, when a non-verbal severely Autistic child who shows love and kindness will forever be of greater value then that kind of philosophy….
No matter what a person looks like or how their brain is wired, it’s about who they are as a person that counts.

A Comprehensive ICE Encounter Guide.
So, because of a recent uptick in ICE raids and Trump removing pretty much all remaining protection for immigrants, I've decided to compile a bunch of research and resources to help you know your rights. Specifically to combat the risky and even down right dangerous advice going around. Knowing your rights whether you're an immigrant or not is important, and can enable you to help your friends, family and community.
Disclaimer: I am not your lawyer, do your own research! Especially if you or your family are high risk (visibly BIPOC).
Firstly, what to do if you are stopped by ICE or Police.
Stay calm.
Don't resist.
Keep your hands visible at all times.
Memorise important phone numbers (family, lawyer), or keep them on you at all times.
Do NOT lie about your status.
Carry your immigration papers or ID on you at all times.
Some states require that you give your name to law enforcement if they ask for it, know your states laws, and do not lie.
If you're asked to show your immigration papers, you must if you have them on you.
Do not say anything to them, do not sign anything, do not make decisions without lawyers. Exercise your right to silence.
If you are without your papers, EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO SILENCE, say "I would like to remain silent until i speak to a lawyer."
If you're arrested by police, you have the right to a free government appointed attorney. If you're arrested by ICE, you have the right to an attorney but not a free government one, so you should ask for a free or low cost list of attorneys or already have the number for one on you.
You can say no to being searched, they do not have the right to search you without probable cause, the only exception is they may pat you down over your clothes.
If you believe your rights were violated, write down and date everything you remember as soon as you can. Badge numbers, patrol car numbers, names, agencies they're from, witnesses, and file a complaint with the relevant agencies.
What to do when ICE or the police come to your home.
Keep the door closed. It is much safer to speak to them through the door. TEACH YOUR CHILDREN THIS.
Ask: Are you immigration agents? What are you here for? Ask to see their badge through a peep hole or window, ask if they have a warrant and if they do make them slide it under the door or show you through a window.
DO NOT open the door unless they show you a search or arrest warrant signed by a judge specifically naming someone residing in your property or the specific areas to be searched at that specific address. You can find samples of warrants here.
A police arrest warrant allows them to enter the home if they believe that the person is inside BUT a warrant for deportation DOES NOT allow officers to enter the home without consent.
If they do not produce a warrant, or the warrant is just for deportation, say "I do not consent to your entry."
If they force their way in anyways, do not resist. Repeat "I do not consent to your entry or to your search of these premises, I am exercising my right to remain silent, I wish to speak to a lawyer."
Do not lie.
Do not produce false documents.
And do not talk to them or sign anything until you get a lawyer.
Once again, If you believe your rights were violated, write down and date everything you remember as soon as you can. Badge numbers, patrol car numbers, names, agencies they're from, witnesses, and file a complaint with the relevant agencies. In this case, camera footage from home cameras can also be extremely useful, make sure any relevant footage is saved and copied onto several devices.
What to do when ICE or the police come to your work/school/church.
If you're a US citizen and feel safe doing so, record the activity or immediately write down information on what you witnessed, but do not interfere or obstruct the operation. This can include yelling, running, throwing things, and so on.
If you are a citizen, ICE do not have the right to detain, arrest or question you. If they do, tell them you are a US citizen, ask for their name and badge number and say you wish to remain silent until you talk to a lawyer. Then talk to that lawyer about filing a lawsuit for fines and monetary damages. Seriously.
Do not run.
Do not carry false documents.
Say you wish to remain silent and speak to a lawyer.
Do not speak or sign anything until you talk to a lawyer.
Carry a "red card."
In all scenarios, especially for non-English speakers, it's a good idea to carry a know your rights card. The immigrant legal resource center has printable red cards with guidance on it and you can hand it to an officer of any kind and on the back, in English it invokes your right to silence and to a lawyer. This can be presented to the Police or ICE in any situation. Printable versions of these cards in many different languages can be found here. Keep your paperwork and these cards on you and your family, especially your children at all times. Spread the existence of these cards on your social media and in your communities.
The best thing you can do as an immigrant, for you and your family, is just be prepared. For US citizens and those unlikely to be targeted, it's to provide aid and record injustices and violations of rights. But with that, it is so important you do not spread false information or dangerous advice, or misreport any ICE sightings. Local immigrant resource organizations are creating hotlines that the public can report ice sightings to, and they have social media pages too. Find your local one online, and you can get the most accurate information from them. Report any ICE sightings you see to them, too. Spread their existences on your social media and in your communities. But most importantly, stick together and do not let this hard time define our futures. As my favourite poem goes, "You may write me down in history With your bitter twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise."
Resources: printable red cards iamerica know your rights cards know your rights, immigrant justice know your rights, aclu

You sit in the living room and watch with slight amusement as he moves about rather clumsily. You never thought making a cup of tea could be such a challenging task but as you watch Wonwoo scramble in the kitchen, you almost start to believe he is preparing a three course meal in there.
Gingerly, the man turns his head back, as if to check whether you are looking at him and once he sees that you are, in fact, he whips his head around and observes the boiling kettle with acute fascination.
You suppress a smile and take a sip of water from the tall mug he gave you five minutes ago.
His place is neat and tidy, taking you by surprise because the last time you were here, it was easy to think that a racoon broke in and rummaged through everything.
The pillows on the couch and the centrepiece on the coffee table are neatly placed. The cream coloured carpet is straight and clean, looking freshly vacuumed and spotless. There are even a bunch of new books sitting on his bookshelf which you remember was previously almost empty and dusty, full of random nicknacks. Most astonishingly, you spot plants throughout his space, whether fake or real you are not sure but the green adds a tasteful pop of colour to the house.
“Here you go.” Wonwoo murmurs, setting down your steaming cup of tea on a coaster.
Then he awkwardly stands next to you, wringing his hands and watching you with nervous, careful eyes. You pick up the cup and the steam immediately fogs your glasses, helping you establish that the tea is still too hot to drink.
You set it down. “Have a seat.” You point to the velvet, cushiony chair opposite to you and he obliges immediately. He sits down and starts wiping his head with the damp towel around his neck, rubbing a single spot repeatedly as his eyes remain downcast, fixed on the floor. His acting reminds you of the naughty boys in your school when they were summoned in front of the principal and you find it quite amusing.
“Thank you for the dinner.” You start, deeming the topic a good conversation starter. “Mr. Pi told us that it was your treat. You really didn’t have to but thank you.”
“Oh.” He finally meets your eyes, his movement jittery. “No, it was really nothing. You guys worked hard. You deserved it.”
You smile. “Everyone had a great time. Jeonghan ordered a lot of food. He was out to drain your card. He even took some side dishes home.”
You don’t miss the way his face falls immediately at the mention of Jeonghan. “I see,” he supplies and goes back to staring at the ground.
A silence settles between the two of you. You watch him sit and fiddle with the towel, one of his legs bouncing up and down nervously.
“You are starting next week, right?” You ask, hoping to bring some life back in him.
His head jerks up. “Huh? Yeah. Next week.”
“I heard you are not using your father’s office.”
“No. I never liked that place. It comes with too many memories I wish to forget.” He explains quietly.
“It’s always good to start fresh. So you’re leaving that empty for now?”
He nods.
Another beat of silence.
You reach for your tea and take a slow sip.
This is getting a bit too awkward. You have never seen Wonwoo like this; so out of place, so nervous and spooked. He is acting like he murdered your dog and you are about to punish him for that. Maybe, you should just cut to the chase. It is clear he won’t say anything, so you might as well speak your part and clear things out.
“So,” you begin, setting the cup down. “The reason why I’m here—”
“I didn’t think you would make your decision so quickly,” Wonwoo interrupts, his voice coated with a nervous edge. He looks at you, his pupils slightly dilated and his face paler than usual. “I mean…you are free to do however you want to…I just…I just thought I might have a c-chance this time, you know?” He swallows and licks his lips, his eyes bouncing around the room nervously.
“I know how awful I was to you and still…I don’t know, I was clinging onto the hope that you would take me back even out of pity. I…imagined this moment hundreds of times. I…I thought you would tell me to go fuck myself over a text but it’s nice of you to come see me and break it to my face. I’m just…I’m just not ready I guess…” He trails off, his nervous rant coming to an end.
“You did not even hear what I have to say.” You raise an amused brow at him.
“Right.” He drops the towel on the floor and rubs his palms over his thighs. “Give it to me.”
You pause, carefully watching him before uttering. “Let’s start again, Wonwoo. One last time.”
Wonwoo blinks and then remains unmoving in his place, so still that one can easily mistake him for a statue. You wait and watch him, eager and amused for his next words.
You see his throat bob as he swallows and finally breaks off eye contact with you.
“You…you really mean it?” His voice comes out thick and scratchy almost like he is on the verge of tears.
“Yes, I do.”
A sudden burst of laughter escapes his lips, the sound short and abrupt before he rests his elbows on his thighs and hangs his head low, staring at the ground in pure awe. “I…” He shakes his head. “Thank you.” His eyes meet yours, bright and shining with unshed tears. “Fuck…thank you. I promise to treat you right this time.”
You offer him a reassuring smile. He returns it, a bit wobbly at first before it grows, puffing up his cheeks and making his eyes form crescents.
“Let’s take it slow this time.” You state, taking a sip of your tea. “Let’s get to know each other all over again. Slowly but steadily.”
He sits up straight and shakes his head with a determined nod. “Yes, of course. You call the shots this time. We will go at your pace.” He stops, watching you with a fond gaze. As an afterthought, he softly adds, “I am really very sorry about my behaviour so far. I have been foolish and immature about everything in my life. Now that I know how much you mean to me…how much all of this means to me…I will not let you down this time. I will not fuck this up.”
“I believe you won’t.” You reassure with a smile.
You finish your tea in a comfortable silence.
Soon after, Wonwoo drives you home. His car zooms down the empty streets of the city as you two sit next to each other, silent but comfortable. Soft tunes from the radio fill the car while you admire the view out your window, finding this boring, familiar city suddenly wondrous and full of colour.
You feel like yourself after a long while, nothing weighing heavily on your chest and you can breathe freely. You glance at Wonwoo beside you and he does the same and when your eyes meet, the two of you break into a smile.
The first week of your vacation goes by slowly but cozily at your parents' place in your hometown. Far from the hectic morning schedules of checking emails and going through hundreds of pages of case files, you stroll around your village, enjoying the greenery around you and the sunlight on your skin. You eat meals with your parents, help your mom with the household work, accompany your dad with his gardening and then sit by the nearby river and watch the children play as the sun goes down on the western sky.
Your phone, which used to buzz with notifications every other minute, now remains mostly silent, except for certain times, like mornings and nights. Every morning, you wake up to a good morning text from Wonwoo, and at night, you receive a good night text. He asks you about your day and in return you ask about his, smiling at your phone at the simple, otherwise mundane words sent from him.
Despite being physically far away from him, you realize you feel closer and more connected to him than when you lay next to him.
On the third day of your stay in your hometown, a package arrives early in the morning.
Your attention from the TV is disrupted when you see your mom enter the dining space with a huge and expensive looking fruit basket in her hands. The confusion on her face makes you get up from your spot on the floor and observe the basket carefully.
It comes with a handwritten note that says,
Dear ___,
A little gift for you and your family. I hope they enjoy it and I hope you have a good time at home.
Love,
W
You try hard to stifle a silly smile.
“Who is it from?” Your mother asks, opening the basket. “This does not come in cheap.”
“Oh, it’s from my boss.” You reply. “It's just a gift. I worked hard the past few months so he wants me to enjoy it with you guys.”
“How nice of him! I didn’t know bosses so nice existed any more.”
You only smile, helping your mom to take out the wide assortment of fruits. Once you are back in your room, you send a quick text to Wonwoo.
You: Thank you for the fruit basket. My mom really likes it.
His reply comes immediately.
Wonwoo: Don’t mention it. It was my pleasure. I want you to have a good time.
You: It was a thoughtful gesture. And don’t worry, I am having a good time.
Wonwoo: I am glad to hear it then. Let me know if you need anything.
You: Okay. Have a good day at work.
Wonwoo: Now that you texted me, I will have a great day ;)
Like a lovestruck fool, you grin at your screen.
The second week of your vacation passes as you organize your apartment and declutter all the junk that has piled up. In the evenings, you catch up with friends, visit cafes and restaurants, and go on a shopping spree before returning home for a peaceful sleep.
Wonwoo and you have fallen into a routine now. Other than random texts throughout the day, a voice call at night has become mandatory for you. He has been calling you every night after you get into bed and it is almost embarrassing how easily you fall asleep while listening to his voice over the phone.
“When can I take you out on a date?” He asks randomly on a Friday night as you lay in bed and twirl your hair, staring at your ceiling.
“I don’t know.” You reply teasingly. You hear him sigh.
“Are you really coming back to work this Monday?” He questions after a pause.
“Yes, I am.” “Take a longer break. Seriously.”
You release a sigh. “I have done all that I wanted to do for this break. I am honestly looking forward to returning. I miss my office.”
“Said no one ever.” Wonwoo huffs, making you laugh.
“Plus,” you grin even though he cannot see it. “I look forward to experiencing my first-ever office romance.”
You hear a short burst of laughter and you imagine Wonwoo’s face.
“Well, then I need to give you enough work so that you visit my office every day.”
“How cruel of you.” You mock. “How can you do that to your over worked girlfriend?”
Wonwoo laughs which is followed by silence.
You observe the night sky from your bed, marveling at the beauty of the twinkling stars in the dark sky in the quiet solitude of the night. Wonwoo softly calls your name.
“Hm?” You hum.
“I am so lucky to have you.” His soft voice floats through the speaker. “I sometimes can’t believe you are my girlfriend now. Thank you, truly, for choosing me.”
His words make your heart soar, pounding loudly in your ribcage and you smile into your pillow.
“Quite a romantic, aren’t you, Mr. Jeon?”
He chuckles, the sound deep and throaty, sending tingles all through your body. Suddenly, you wish he was next to you so that you could kiss him.
“Only for you.” He replies, making your grin broader.
You did not expect to be greeted by a huge bouquet of roses when you entered your office after your break. You stand on the threshold of your office, your mouth agape because of the bright red roses sitting on your desk and one of your co-workers sitting nearby takes notice of your shock.
“It came about fifteen minutes ago. A delivery man left it.” She explains. “The sender was anonymous. We were so curious we had to ask.” She adds sheepishly.
You awkwardly chuckle at her words.
Who could it be?
Shutting the door behind you, you drop your coat and bag and rush straight to the bouquet, smelling the sweet, heady scent of the flowers. They look even more beautiful up close, bright red and shiny and you cannot help a giddy smile of excitement. As you take the bouquet and carefully observe it, you find a pastel pink card stuck near the bottom of the stems.
Immediately, you snatch it and pry it open.
Welcome back. Thank you for another chance. Here is to new beginnings.
Love, W
You bite your lip, trying to stifle the goofy smile spreading on your lips.
“Damn, who got you smiling like that?” Jeonghan bursts open through the door, ruining your moment.
“Ugh, Jeonghan!” You glare at the man, folding the note and stuffing it in your pocket.
He strolls in. “That is not how you greet me after not seeing me for two weeks.” He eyes the roses with a smirk. “I see we have a loverboy in our hands.” You roll your eyes.
Jeonghan leans closer to your face and wiggles his eyebrows. “Looks like you two have…” he makes a suspicious gesture with his hands by slowly intertwining them, “reconciled in your break.”
This man, you swear to god.
Ignoring him, you gently set aside the bouquet on your coffee table and fish out your phone from your pocket. “Shouldn’t you be asking how my vacation went?”
“Why bother with that when I can clearly see how good it went.” He grins suggestively.
“Gosh, you’re so annoying. Don’t you have any work to do?”
He pouts. “I just wanted to welcome you back. Also for your information, yes I do. With you gone Mr. Pi was stuck on me all day. Do you know how many cases I’m working on at the same time?”
“Mhmm.” You try to pay attention to his words while typing a message to Wonwoo.
Thank you for the roses. They are absolutely stunning.
Jeonghan, noticing your lack of response, leans over your shoulder to peek at your screen. “Ugh.” He makes a noise of disgust, waving his hand dismissively. “I cannot believe you’re choosing hoes over bros.”
You set your phone down. “I can see you’re as dramatic as before, bro.”
Jeonghan rolls his eyes, ready for a comeback with a snarky reply when his phone starts ringing. With a dejected sigh, he pulls it out of his pocket, heading for the door and casually pulling out a flower from your bouquet on his way. He grins, waving the flower at you and smoothly slips out of your room, leaving your mouth open.
Gosh, he can be such a brat sometimes.
Your phone vibrates just then and you immediately unlock it to read Wonwoo’s message.
My pleasure, love. They are not half as beautiful as you but I’m glad it made you happy.
You keep smiling goofily at your screen.
A shocking email waits for you in your inbox when you get to work on Tuesday morning.
It is from secretary Yu, informing you that you have been selected for a promotion. If you accept, you will be the deputy head of the legal team of Jeon Industries. The email states you have two days to think it over and a response is expected before the meeting on Thursday.
You are blown out of the water.
For many long moments, you think you are reading it wrong and then for another good minute, you think it is addressed to the wrong person.
Once you realize none of that is true and this is in fact, reality, your hands fly to your gaping mouth. You scramble to find your phone and immediately dial Wonwoo who picks up on the third ring.
“Hey there. Good morning.” He greets you warmly.
“Wonwoo—” You stop, struggling to arrange your thoughts. “Did you…did you recommend me for a promotion?”
“What? No.” It's hard to gauge his tone through the phone.
“Wonwoo, be serious.”
“I am. I didn’t!” There is a short pause. “Wait— did you get a promotion?” He almost yells.
“Apparently,” you murmur, staring at your computer. “I just saw Secretary Yu’s email.”
“What does it say?”
“I am chosen to be the next deputy head of your legal team.”
Silence.
“Holy shit.” He breathes. “Congratulations, sweetheart! You deserve it. I promise I had nothing to do with this.”
“Thank you. I…I just can’t believe it. It seems unreal.”
“Trust me, you deserve it so much.”
“I think your father is behind this.”
Wonwoo is quiet for a few beats. “I think you’re right. Well, this is the only decision of his I fully support and agree with.”
You smile, shaking your head at his words.
Looks like you have got a decision to make.
“You’re hiding something from me,” Jeonghan states pointedly as you two wait in front of the elevator, ready to clock out for the day.
You whip your head towards him who stands with his hands in his pockets, his eyes trained on the little screen showing the floor number on top of the doors.
“What makes you say that?” You ask, amused.
“So you are hiding something from me,” he stares at you. The elevator reaches your floor, opening with a soft ding and you step in, followed by Jeonghan. “What is it?” he asks as the doors close. You smile, humming.
“Oh come on!”
The doors reopen on the next floor and the empty elevator is suddenly overcrowded as a dozen of people flood in. You and your colleague are pushed to the very back, your backs pressed against the cold steel wall.
“I got a promotion.” You whisper to Jeonghan who stands next to you. He takes a second to register your words before his eyes widen and then, in the crowded, confined space, he yells, “What!”
Everyone turns to look at him. You avoid their gaze out of embarrassment, instead staring hard at your shoes, stifling a smile while being hyper aware that Jeonghan is drilling holes into your face with his eyes.
As soon as you are out of the elevator, Jeonghan blocks your way in a dramatic fashion. “Lawyer ___, you have got some explaining to do. Right now.”
“I’ve been selected as the deputy head of the legal team of Jeon Industries.”
His jaw falls slack. The next moment, he is engulfing you in a bear hug. “Congratulations! Fucking hell, I’m so happy for you! Wait…why did you keep this from me?” His face deadpans as he observes you carefully.
“I…I didn’t necessarily hide it from you.” You look down. “I’m just…still processing it. It feels too good to be true.” “Are you seriously doubting your capabilities right now? You’re the perfect person for the job. Hell, I don’t see why they did not make you the head.”
You laugh, shaking your head at his words.
“No, I’m serious! Don’t laugh!”
You nod, still smiling. Pushing your glasses up your nose, you look into his eyes. “Thank you Jeonghan. Seriously.”
“Well, a thank you won’t cut it,” he announces, heading towards the revolving doors, dragging you by your arm. “You need to treat me. Let’s go for some drinks.”
“I’m really sorry.” You stop. “I have plans.”
Jeonghan turns back, his eyes narrow. “Let me guess, with the billionaire, alpha hot CEO Mr. Jeon Wonwoo?”
You snicker, shoving him playfully. “Oh my god, you’re so annoying!”
He grins. “Is he coming to pick you up?”
“No, I’ll meet him at the park next block.”
“Ah, I see.” He nods. “Keeping it under the wraps now, eh? You don’t want to make it public?”
You immediately shake your head no. “You know how it is. He just became the CEO and a dating rumour would put him under even more speculation. Plus, we’re taking it slow this time. It’s still too early to announce anything.”
“Hmm, it’s a good call.” He reaches into his jacket, fishing for his keys. “Would you like me to drop you off over there?”
You chuckle, “It’s barely a five minute walk, Jeonghan.”
“Alright then. Have fun with your lover boy, I guess. You still owe me drinks!” He starts walking. “Also, don’t forget to use protection!” He yells out loud and purposefully, grinning like a gremlin at your horrified reaction.
The lobby is fairly empty but you don’t miss the looks the few people around are giving you.
“Fuck you, Jeonghan! No drinks for you!” You yell back, face heated with mortification.
“I cannot believe we’re here doing this,” Wonwoo murmurs, staring at the tray of burger, fries and drinks on his lap. You pause in the middle of a bite of your burger to look at him.
“I really thought I could get a reservation there.” he sighs, referring to the Michelin-star restaurant he wanted to take you to for dinner. “I wanted to celebrate your promotion with a seven course meal and here we are eating…burgers.”
You finish chewing your bite and then glance at him. “Wonwoo, seriously, this is great. I was craving fast food anyway. And you have to admit, this is much more fun. Getting drive through and eating in your car after work? I’ll take this over a fancy restaurant any day.”
Wonwoo looks at you, a soft smile blooming on his lips.
You point your chin at his food. “Try the burger, seriously, it is so good.” You reach for your own, taking a quick sip of your drink and letting out a satisfied groan. The fizzy drinks and the greasy burger are a phenomenal combo.
“You look beautiful.” Wonwoo suddenly says, making you pause chewing your food and look at him, both startled and shy. His thumb brushes across your lower lip, wiping away the stain of sauce. He brings the finger to his lips, licking it clean while holding eye contact with you.
Your heart skips a beat and you immediately look away, feeling your face heat up.
It feels like a thousand degrees in here suddenly.
“I really missed you.” He murmurs, his voice tender and sweet, doing nothing but increasing the beat of your racing heart. You take a long gulp of your drink before meeting his soft gaze. In the dimly lit parking space, the artificial lights cast weird shadows on his face yet he has never looked this handsome, this ethereal, you realize.
“I missed you too.” You whisper with a twinge of smile. “Two weeks turned out to be longer than I thought.”
He smiles. “It was long. Excruciatingly so.” He pauses. “Have you thought about the offer? You’re taking it right?”
“It sure is tempting.” You reply, going back to your food. With every bite you take, your hunger seems to increase tenfold. You briefly wonder what they put into this.
“If you are doubting yourself then please don’t.” Wonwoo places a soft hand on your thigh. “You are so talented and hardworking. More than anyone else, you deserve it. After all, no one handled my tantrums and all the troubles I caused better than you.”
You laugh, nodding. “That is true.”
“Plus,” he leans closer to you. “We cannot have that office romance I was talking about if we are not in the same office.”
You meet his gaze. “Oh! You are right about that. But wait…are you trying to bribe me into taking the position?” You playfully narrow your eyes at him, popping a fry into your mouth.
“You caught me there,” he grins before smirking at you. “Just think of all the fun things we could do at work.” He wiggles his brows suggestively.
“Jeon Wonwoo!” You throw a fry at him, laughing. He grins his signature foxy grin that sends your heart racing and butterflies erupting in your stomach.
“But seriously,” You watch his expression shift as he pops the fry into his mouth before looking at you. “I know the new title will come with a lot of responsibilities. And I also understand that you will be leaving your colleagues behind so the scene will be unfamiliar to you at first. Still, I think you will smash this job. I was going to offer you a permanent position at my company anyway before I heard this.”
“Hmm, I wonder why.” You tease. “To do scandalous things at work with me?”
Wonwoo huffs but you don’t miss the smile creeping up on his lips. “I’m being serious, ____.”
You nod, wiping your fingers with the napkin. “I know. Thank you for your words, truly.” You place your hand on top of his knuckles.
“I’m just speaking the truth.” He replies, holding your hand between his.
“Thank you, Wonwoo. For this—” you gesture at the food and the interior of his car, “for your kind words and for your support. Thank you.”
His lips touch your knuckles for a soft, sweet kiss. “It is my pleasure, always.”
The meeting goes well on Thursday morning. You are surprised to find Chairman Jeon there along with Wonwoo, who wanted to officially introduce you as the deputy head to the entire team. After the meeting, you are shown a room, which is set to be your personal office from next week, located on the same floor as Wonwoo’s office and right next to Mr. Choi’s office, who is the most senior and head lawyer of the company.
That night, Mr. Pi takes you and some of your closest colleagues for drinks, treating it as an official goodbye party for you. He even sings two songs for you, crying his drunk heart out while saying goodbye and wishing you well while you and everyone else cringe in their seats, covering your ears.
“I’ll miss you, seriously.” Jeonghan murmurs, staring at the ground as you both walk home after the drinks and deafening singing.
“I will too.” You sigh. “Come visit me often. We have meetings every week at the headquarters anyway.” He nods. “You know, I am so glad that I met you. It was so fun working with you for the last few months.”
You smile. “Same for me. Though you were really annoying sometimes, I will miss you, Lawyer Yoon.”
He grins. “Well, as my final show of respect for you, I shall escort you home tonight. Protect you from the dangers of the night.”
“Mhmm,” you smirk. “From stray dogs too? There are a few in the park by my apartment.” You watch his face for his reaction, knowing very well Jeonghan is afraid of dogs. He doesn’t like dogs and unsurprisingly, dogs don’t want him either.
“Well then, my lady,” Jeoghan says with mock seriousness, “you will have to fend for yourself.”
Your laughter echoes through the quiet air of the night. As you continue down your path home, you realize something. You have been smiling so much recently, more than ever before.
The revelation once again, makes you smile.
The lobby of the Grand Hotel is slightly more crowded for a Saturday morning, you observe while sipping your coffee and waiting for your friend to come downstairs. A business convention is taking place in the hall room, which accounts for the men in suits and ties scrambling all over.
You are here to see an old friend from college who has settled abroad because of her career as a fashion designer. She is staying here and you are set to meet at the lobby before going on a shopping and eating spree. She rarely visits her homeland and now that she has, a reunion of the two of you was a must.
Your eyes skirting all over the huge lobby spot Rina before she spots you as you find her stepping out of the VIP elevators. Your hands spring up on their own out of excitement and you start waving them to gain her attention. She notices you immediately and with a squeal dashes to you and engulfs you in a hug.
Your conversations flow immediately as you two plop down on the plush sofas in the lobby, ordering some drinks for your throats which will soon be parched from all the talking and the laughing.
Rina shares about her life and work abroad and you talk about your work and your recent promotion. The topics flow smoother than the current of a river as you eagerly listen to every word your friend says, sipping your drink occasionally.
Until…
Until suddenly, your attention from your friend’s words is snatched away as you spot something in front of you. Something so serious it pries you away from the conversation you were so engaged in.
About a hundred feet away from where you sit there are a group of people, two older men who you immediately recognize. One is Chairman Jeon and the other is President Lee, owner of the biggest textile industry in the country. Seeing them here is nothing out of the ordinary because today’s convention is arranged by Mr. Lee’s company and Chairman Jeon is a close friend of his, thus he is naturally attending. As they sit down, you spot a young girl next to Mr. Lee, appearing to be his daughter.
What catches your full attention and sends your heart racing, however, is the presence of Wonwoo, dressed formally in a grey suit and pants, who walks to the group, shakes hands with Mr. Lee and then sits next to his father, his back facing you.
Agitation crawls up your neck like a slithering snake as you watch the group talk, a bright smile plastered on the girl's face as she talks to Wonwoo. Then suddenly, it hits you like a ton of bricks.
It is Yuna Lee.
Of course. Yuna Lee, the only daughter of Mr. Lee, the girl Chairman Jeon wants Wonwoo to marry.
A stuttered breath falls from your lips as you continue watching their exchange until you cannot anymore.
“Rina,” Your sharp and urgent tone stops your friend in her speech. She regards you with slightly wide and puzzled eyes.
“Let’s get out of here.” You stand up, slinging your bag over your shoulders. “It is too crowded. There’s a nice cafe on the next block.”
You force a smile.
You lie in your bed, sprawled out, blank gaze fixed on the ceiling of your bedroom.
Today was shit.
You were so excited to catch up with Rina, take her around the city and have a fun time reconnecting with an old friend. None of that happened because you spent the entire day in a haze, your mind repeatedly going back to Wonwoo and Yuna, her shining eyes and bright smile, looking eagerly at Wonwoo.
Yuna Lee, the ex prima ballerina. Yuna Lee, the most sought after single woman in the country, both by men and the hundreds of brands eager to work with her. Yuna Lee with her porcelain skin, slanted eyes and a smile so sweet it could cure the plague. Yuna Lee, heir to billions and a perfect match for Wonwoo, in all ways.
The thought raises bile to your throat, and you hate how bitter, insignificant, and jealous you feel. What is worse is that Wonwoo never mentioned this meeting to you. Yesterday, he took you out to dinner to celebrate your promotion and then drove you home afterwards. He walked you to your door, pressed a soft, loving kiss to your lips, and wished you a nice time with your friend.
Did he know all along? Why did he lie to you? He rejected Yuna, didn’t he?
As if on cue, your phone rings, jolting you out of your thoughts. The caller is Wonwoo and you stare at the screen, your hands not moving to pick up the call. It continues ringing before finally the call disconnects and with a sigh, you lie back down, slightly relieved. You don’t feel like talking to him right now. He texted you earlier, asking how your hangout went but you have not replied. It is petty and childish and very unlike you but today, you cannot find it in yourself to give a fuck.
The phone rings again and with a huff, you sit up, contemplating. Finally, on the fifth ring, you begrudgingly pick up the call.
“Hey? You alright?” Wonwoo’s voice immediately floats through, concerned and hurried.
“Yes,” you try to put some effort into making your voice lively. “I was in the bathroom, didn’t hear the ring.” The lies slip away easily.
“It’s okay. I was getting worried. Did your date go well? How long is your friend staying?”
“Yes, it was good.” Your voice is flat and you are aware of how dry you sound. “Another week, I think. She needs to return to Italy for the fashion week.”
“I see.” Wonwoo hums. “Oh, right. ____, could you open your door real quick? I sent something for you. My assistant is there.” “Wait? What?” You sit up straighter. “Now?”
Wonwoo laughs, “Yes, now. I wanted to surprise you. I’ll be on the call, just open the door.”
You shuffle out of bed, putting on your slippers and hurrying out of the room. Without bothering to look at the intercom screen, you open your door and fall silent.
With parted lips and wide eyes, you stand there, holding the door open as your hand holding your phone to the ear falls down your side.
Wonwoo grins, sweet and cheeky, his nose scrunching up from the action. He stands there in a navy blue oversized sweater and cream pants, looking boyish and happy as he extends a bouquet of mixed flowers to you.
“Surprise!” He chirps, hanging up the call.
A noise of shock and bewilderment comes from you as you reach out for the flowers. “I— you…”
Wonwoo chuckles, walking into your apartment. “I see you are surprised, love.” He smiles, pressing a kiss to your forehead. Momentarily, you are taken over by the clean, soapy scent coming from him and you close your eyes, savouring his smell and his touch. Too quickly for your liking, he moves away, toeing off his loafers and stepping into your living area.
“I was wondering if I did something wrong you know,” he smiles as you follow him in. “You didn’t reply to my messages earlier and my call so I was wondering how I fucked up.”
“So you came prepared with the flowers?” You ask, your voice less playful than you intended it to be.
“Not really,” he replies, watching you set the bouquet in a vase and place it in a corner of your kitchen counter. “I wanted to surprise you anyway…” He trails off, walking closer to you. Gently holding your shoulders, he makes you turn to face him, his eyes focused and curiously set on your face. He whispers, “You know, I’m not really good at this stuff but I do think that something is wrong. You are mad at me aren’t you?”
You cannot help a smirk. He did grow up, didn’t he?
“Well…if you haven’t done anything wrong then it should be fine, no?” You walk past him and head into your bedroom, sitting down comfortably on the bed. Like an obedient puppy, he trails after you and then sits next to you.
“Fuck, I’m sorry. I really don’t know what I did wrong. I’m sorry for not getting it and I’m sorry for whatever I did wrong.” The genuine look of distress on his face makes you sigh softly.
“Wonwoo…” You murmur, looking at his hands fidgeting on top of his lap. “I saw you today, at the Grand Hotel. With your father and Mr. Lee and…Yuna.”
Wonwoo’s eyes widen slightly as recognition flashes over his face. “Ah, that.” He sounds almost relieved.
“You didn’t tell me you were seeing her today.” You whisper, your voice meek and small, your gaze trained on your own lap.
“Sweetheart, I didn’t know, I promise.” Wonwoo urges, his hands coming to rest on top of yours. “I was there to attend the conference and then I got a call from my father, asking me to come out and meet Mr. Lee. I didn’t know she was there.”
“What did you guys talk about?” You whisper, relishing the feeling of his warm hands on yours. Wonwoo remains silent for a beat and you know what the answer is. You cannot bring yourself to meet his gaze so you choose to stare at his hands instead.
“Marriage.” Wonwoo’s voice is quiet. “My father and Mr. Lee wish to see us married.”
“Yuna too.” You murmur, almost to yourself.
“What?”
“Yuna too.” You exhale a heavy sigh before looking at him. “She likes you, Wonwoo. I saw how she was looking at you. I know that look. She also wants to get married to you.”
Wonwoo remains silent, his lips pressed into a thin line, his gaze piercing your heart and soul, leaving you unable to guess what he is thinking. For one too horrible moment, you think you have lost Wonwoo.
“Well that's too bad,” he says, squeezing your hands. “Because I don’t feel the same way about her. There is only one woman on this planet I want to marry and I think we both know who that is.”
The corners of his mouth lift in a teasing smile and your heart soars, a small smile creeping on your face too.
He continues. “I told them very clearly today that I won’t marry Yuna. My father was very annoyed, of course, but I don’t care. So rest assured sweetheart, I’m all yours.”
Your shy smile morphs into a giggle as you lean on him, putting your face on his shoulder. With a soft laugh, he envelops you with his arms, holding you tight against his body. “Are we good now? Am I out of the dog house?”
“Yes,” you laugh.
“Good,” he hums. “Because I missed you. I always miss you.” He murmurs, pressing a kiss on top of your head. Holding you against his body, he lies down on the bed on his back, dragging you with him. Half of your body lays on top of him as you get comfortable, placing your head on his chest and listening to his rhythmic heartbeat, your fingers mindlessly tracing the subtle patterns on his sweater.
“Wonwoo?” You call him softly.
Hm?”
“I think we should tell Chairman Jeon about us.”
Silence follows. You remove your head to look at your boyfriend’s face. He observes you inquisitively as if trying to decode the inner workings of your mind.
“Are you sure?” He asks quietly.
You nod, propping your body on your elbows so that you can look at him. “Before my vacation, he called me to his office for a chat. He asked me if I knew who was the girl you are interested in. I lied and said no, which did not feel good. He seemed open to meeting her you know. I think we should go see him.”
Wonwoo continues looking at you silently. “What are you thinking?” You whisper, slightly tense.
“I just…am surprised, I guess. I mean, I have no problem with us meeting him but I don’t want to pressure you. I know it might be tough and uncomfortable for you since you have a professional relationship with him. But if you really want to, then let’s go see him on Monday.”
“Are you uncomfortable with the idea?”
“No.” He ponders for a moment. “I just don’t care enough. I won’t exactly ask for his blessings, you know. We don’t have a relationship like that. So don’t worry too much about what he will think of you because, at the end of the day, it won’t matter. I will date you, whether he likes it or not.”
“He might be disappointed.” You whisper softly, your hand absent mindedly reaching to his throat to trace his adam’s apple. “Compared to Yuna, you know. That match is profitable in so many ways.”
“Love is not about profit,” Wonwoo replies, his voice quiet and serious. “Like I said, it doesn’t matter what he thinks. Come here.” He pulls you in for a hug, your body wrapping around his while your head remains nestled against his throat, breathing in his addictive scent. You lay like that for a while basking in the peaceful silence and each other's warmth, his fingers drawing soothing on your back.
“Did you have dinner?” He asks softly. With a negative shake of your head, you look at his face, studying his stunning features up close. Without much of a thought, you press a kiss to his jaw, slowly trailing it to his lips. His soft lips meet yours for a chaste sweet kiss that gradually turns into a passionate, fiery one.
Wonwoo shifts, his body pressing yours flat on the bed as he comes on top, craning your neck higher to gain better access to your mouth. He kisses you like a starved man, his tongue exploring every inch of your mouth and you return the kiss with equal fervour, your hands tightly clinging onto his sweater, tugging on it, twisting the fabric in your grip as you lose yourself in his touch.
“Fuck,” Wonwoo inhales sharply, breaking apart from you. His eyes are glassy, illuminated by desire and his lips are bright red and swollen, a clear evidence of your passion. “Fuck, if we keep going, I cannot hold myself back.”
“Then don’t.” You whisper, looking up at him eagerly while licking your swollen lips. Wonwoo closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. “No, I…I didn’t come here for this, fuck. I don’t want you to think that I’m—”
You shush him with a quick, soft kiss on his lips.
“We agreed to go on my pace, right? I want this Wonwoo, I promise.” You smile at him. Wonwoo hesitates, staring at you intensely and you see his eyes glance at your lips and his jaw harden. Then, with a soft, dejected sigh, he leans down and kisses you. He is softer and slower this time but there is determination in his every move, his hands going all over your body in a passionate, devoted caress.
“You’re so beautiful.” He whispers, looking into your eyes lovingly and in that moment, the pure adoration in his voice makes you truly feel beautiful. Beautiful and loved. You break into a shy but giddy smile, your hands working on unbuttoning the top two buttons of his sweater. Your movements are not rushed and Wonwoo is patient, simply observing you with adoration as you finish your task. Then, he sits up and takes off the sweater in a smooth motion.
Your eyes feast on every delicious inch of his naked skin, every contour of his muscles, scouring all over his chiseled body. It has been a long time since you saw him naked and you unashamedly cherish the visual in front of you, taking your time.
“May I?” Wonwoo asks softly, pointing to the hem of your sweater. With a smile you nod and he pulls it off, revealing your bare torso. Your nipples harden and your skin breaks into goosebumps because of the slight chill. Wonwoo immediately wraps his body around yours, hugging you tight and pressing kisses all over your neck and shoulders. He takes his time, kissing, sucking and marking your flesh while his hands work on taking off your bottoms.
"Do you know how mesmerizing you are?" He whispers, his thumb stroking your cheek with utmost tenderness as he flings away the last bit of clothing from your body. You lean into his touch, eyes falling closed at the contact as a soft sigh escapes your lips. He is looking at you like you are his entire world, like you are the only thing keeping him alive and it creates a foreign sense of desire in your belly, one you have never felt before.
"Lean back," his voice is a quiet command that you follow instantly, resting your back against the headboard and letting him sit comfortably. Not breaking eye contact with you, Wonwoo slowly spreads your legs wide. You watch with bated breath and a squeak leaves your mouth when he pushes his index finger inside you, slipping in easily due to your wetness. He makes a noise, a deep throaty groan as his digit finds home inside you.
"Fuck, you're so wet," he murmurs as he inserts another finger and then another before curling them inside you.
"God— Wonwoo" You hiss at the pleasurable intrusion, grabbing the nearby pillow as your hips lift off the mattress. Your reaction makes him grunt as he fastens his pace and you feel your legs tremble, making you think that you are going to come already. Your core tightens around his fingers as more wetness leaks from you, only amplified when he brushes his thumb against your clit. Wonwoo devotes all his attention to your face, watching your expressions with a close, fascinated eye. “Close?” He whispers, his voice deep and scratchy.
You nod your head aggressively, eyes screwed shut and your hips chasing his fingers in their own tandem. You climb higher and higher to your release, tingles shooting all through your body, making your legs shake. You open your eyes to see Wonwoo’s fingers still moving inside you while he shifts his position, making himself comfortable between your legs and leaning down.
“Wonwoo,” you croak, flushed with desire.
“Shh,” he shushes you, slowing the movements of his fingers. “Let me taste you, hmm? I want you to cum on my face.” He murmurs, lips hovering over your thighs, the touch of his warm breath giving you goosebumps. The low gravel of his voice paired with the way he keeps looking at you from between your thighs makes you swallow thickly before resting your head back against the headboard, a shuddering breath leaving your lips as you feel your heart pound faster than ever..
The next moment you feel him flick your clit with his tongue and your entire body jolts, a long drawn out moan rushing past your mouth.
Fuck, you just might die.
Your body writhes while he holds your thighs open in a strong grip, incoherent gasps and curses of pleasure falling from your lips. Wonwoo is a man starved as he eats you out mercilessly, alternating between slow and fast licks, his tongue going deep inside your most intimate parts. You can't remain still, tears of pleasure stinging your eyes as your body shakes and pleas fall from your lips.
“Wonwoo, please… I need to come.”
“You want to come, sweetheart?” His voice comes out muffled. “Then come for me.”
His words have your toes curling as he gives a harsh suck to your clit and in an instant, you go off like a firework. The heated coil in your belly snaps as your body twitches, sending you headfirst into an orgasm so good, so deep, tears drip down your eyes. All through it, Wonwoo keeps sucking your pussy, almost making you numb before stopping with a final kiss on your pussy and sitting back.
His lips glisten with your release as he sits on his knees, a cocky smile on his lips.
“You taste addictive, my love.” He murmurs, leaning forward to press soft, tantalising kisses on your jaw and down your throat. A satisfied hum falls from your lips as you close your eyes and savour his kisses, your body still reeling from that mind blowing orgasm.
His lips find yours again and your mouth reconnect in an embrace of passion, his tongue poking in your mouth as you taste yourself. One of his hands moves down amidst the kiss and you realize he's taking off his pants. With a soft groan, he breaks the kiss and quickly stands up to kick his boxers and pants down his legs.
With your heartbeat still echoing in your ears, you admire him in his nakedness in the softly lit room, drinking every glorious inch of him. You can't stray your eyes from his cock, hard and leaking as you gulp and press your thighs together, feeling desire pool between your legs all over again.
Wonwoo crawls back into the bed, his eyes lit with carnal hunger as he makes himself comfortable on top of you, resting his weight on his elbows. “You ready for me?”
“Yes, please.” You almost whimper. “I need you so bad, Wonwoo. Just fuck me.”
He smiles. “As you wish.” He lines himself up and in the next moment, you feel his tip prodding at your core. He slides in easily, almost embarrassingly easy as your sopping cunt welcomes him with wide open arms. A low groan escapes from his throat as he buries his head in the crook of your neck, cursing under his breath The sound makes you clench around him which makes him curse again.
“Fuck, you are so tight, sweetheart. I missed you. I missed being inside you like this, fuck.”
You can only respond in an incoherent hum as he starts moving inside you, making you throw your head back and let out a loud moan. He raises his head to look at you and your eyes meet, making everything even more intense and intimate. The look in his eyes is ever captivating, enamoured yet full of heated desire as he thrusts in and out of you tirelessly, hitting that sensitive spot inside you perfectly each time.
“You're going to be the death of me.” He whispers, his mouth working on your jaw, moving down to your throat and sucking harshly on the soft flesh, making you shudder in pleasure. “Wonwoo!” You cry. “Fuck—”
“Where do you want me to cum, sweetheart?” He hums, trailing his lips back up to your mouth. “Inside me,” you reply immediately, every other thought and worry slipping out of your mind as you find yourself lost in his touch.
“Okay,” Wonwoo grunts, slightly increasing his pace. You pant heavily, clutching onto his back as he drives deep into you, his hands holding your waist in a bruising grip. “Gonna fill you up then, then. Make you mine all over again.” He promises, his eyes trained on your face like he is mesmerized by it as he delivers one particular thrust that has you arching off the bed and seeing stars. Each touch makes you feel like a goddess, like Wonwoo is a desperate devotee worshipping you at your altar which is your body. His pace is unforgiving, maddening, yet the look in his eyes is something new and intimate that turns this act into something so much more real, something that tugs at your heartstrings and makes you feel whole in an overwhelming way.
Then there is a soft touch on your swollen clit and a quiet command from him which has fireworks exploding all throughout your body. You cry out from the intense flood of pleasure as white spots dance in your vision, your hands twisting the fabric of the bedsheet so hard it would be no surprise if they tore.
The next moment you feel Wonwoo release inside you with a deep groan and the feeling of his warm cum coating your insides gives your body another round of shivers as you almost blank out. Your body twitches and shivers as you feel numb for a few moments, your brain covered in a deep fog of mind numbing pleasure.
“You okay?” Wonwoo’s soft voice slowly brings you back to your senses and you smile with your eyes half closed. ‘Mhmm,” you mumble, leaning closer to him as he wraps an arm around you, rubbing your shoulders soothingly. You hum, eyes easily falling closed in the comfort and safety of his body.
“Hold on.” He whispers. “Let me clean you up, hm?”
You mutter complaints when he leaves your side to go to the bathroom. By the time he returns, you have drifted off with a smile still lingering on your face.
Your heels click on the hard floor as you walk down the hall to Chairman Jeon’s office. Despite resigning from his post, he often spends his mornings at his old office room, reading newspapers or idly staring at the city skyline from his window. It is convenient for you and Wonwoo because it is just nine o’clock and the first thing you have decided to do today is visit him and get it done with.
Wonwoo walks in front of you, his steps quick and determined. Initially, he asked you to hold his hand while you showed up to meet Chairman Jeon but you refused.
It felt improper to do. This is your workplace after all.
Wonwoo comes to a halt right in front of the door, his hand resting on the handle when he turns his head back to look at you. You give him a nod and a shaky smile and he returns it, bright and reassuring, his eyes silently cheering you on.
Then, without bothering to knock, Wonwoo pushes the door open and marches in.
You wait for a couple of seconds, taking a deep breath and preparing yourself before you follow him in. Chairman Jeon is surprised to see Wonwoo and even shocked to see you step in.
“I was not expecting to see you,” his tone is slightly flat and directed at Wonwoo, you realize. “Father,” Wonwoo murmurs as a greeting, looking rather bored. You watch the exchange awkwardly before the Chairman glances at you. “Ah, Miss ____. I was not expecting you either but what a pleasant surprise. I was going to ask you to come in for a chat soon. How was your vacation?”
“It was great, sir.” You reply, more politely and humbly than ever before.
“Good, good.” he nods. “What brings you here this early?” He pauses for a second, his eyes averting to his son. “Don’t tell me he got into any trouble?”
“Oh! No, sir, not at all.” You rush to clarify, looking helplessly at Wonwoo. He catches your gaze and takes the lead. “I’m here to talk to you,” he announces. “About something important.”
A pause. “You wanted to know who I’m seeing, right?”
The chairman nods. Suddenly his eyes flash bright and he looks at you with excitement. “Did you finally manage to convince him to share it with me? I knew you could do it!”
Oh god. You cringe inwardly, an awkward yet terrified smile plastered on your face.
“No, father, please—” Wonwoo sighs, rubbing his forehead. He slumps down on the empty couch in front of Chairman Jeon and motions you to sit next to him. You tentatively do so.
“You wanted to see her. Here she is.” Wonwoo states matter of factly, looking at his father dead in the eyes like he is talking about the weather.
Chairman Jeon blinks at his son, evidently confused. Then he glances at you and after a moment's pause, his eyes widen and his lips part slightly.
Well, the cat is out of the bag now.
Wonwoo has the grace to give his father a few moments to digest the information before he continues. “Out of respect for you, she wanted to do this. Now the thing is father…” Wonwoo pauses, putting his elbows on his knees to interlock his fingers and lean closer, “I love her.”
The confession has your heart skipping not one but multiple beats as your head whips towards him, absolutely stunned.
He is dead serious.
He continues, looking at his father in the eye, “She is the one for me so I’m sure now you get why I was so against your matchmaking. More importantly, I need you to know that I’m not here to ask your permission or blessings. I will continue to see her, whether you like it or not. There is that.”
You have the urge to put your head in your hands, maybe even scream at Wonwoo. Could he not have been slightly nicer?
The chairman continues to stare at his son impassively for long, suffocating moments. The two seem to have engaged in a staring contest, their gaze loaded with challenge as the air in the room thickens up with tension. You start to think they have forgotten about your presence in the room when finally, Chairman Jeon turns his glance to you.
“Could you please excuse us, Miss ___?” His voice is normal, devoid of any indication of pleasure or lack thereof. “I need to speak to my son in private.” The latter words come out sharper as his gaze refocuses on Wonwoo.
You immediately stand up. “Yes sir, of course.” You murmur and turn around. Your eyes lock with Wonwoo’s and you scowl at him but he just smiles. “I’ll see you later.”
You give him a stiff nod and rush out the door to find Secretary Yu standing right outside.
“Miss ___.” He greets in his regular monotone voice.
“Secretary Yu,” your words come out slightly breathy due to your shock. You are about to pretend nothing happened and walk away but a question pops in your head and you glance back at him.
“Did you know?” You ask.
He remains silent, his face stoic and his gaze boring at you but he seems to have understood what you are referring to. Finally, he replies. “I had a guess.”
“Why did you not tell Chairman Jeon?”
“Because I did not have evidence. And to be honest, knowing CEO Jeon, I assumed he was not serious about you. I am surprised to learn otherwise.” Neither his face nor his tone indicates any surprise. You are not even sure if you detect approval or dismay in his words. As always, he is unreadable and you feel slightly frustrated.
“I see.” You reply, your tone flat. Your feet continue down the hallway, your footsteps echoing through the narrow chamber. Secretary Yu calls your name, forcing you to stop and turn around.
“Take it easy.”
You nod and continue walking.
Originally, today was supposed to be your first day at Jeon Industries but the plan changed due to some last minute shifts. You still have one more case to wrap up for your firm so you are set to start at Jeon Industries from tomorrow. Now, you are more than grateful for this delay because staying inside the building was suffocating. You could not have gotten any work done, knowing Chairman Jeon was right down the hallway, talking to Wonwoo and deciding your fate.
As soon as you are out of the building, you breathe a sigh of relief and hail a cab to meet up with your last client from your previous workplace. Ten minutes into the car ride, your phone rings and you know it is Wonwoo. You pick up immediately.
“Hi.” You whisper, your voice slightly breathy, your heart thudding loudly in your chest.
“Hey,” Wonwoo’s soft voice comes through the speaker. “Are you on your way to meet your client?”
“Yes.” You reply quickly. “How was it, Wonwoo? Does he hate me?”
You hear your boyfriend laugh, leaving you perplexed. “No actually. He hates me but that’s old news.” “Gosh, Wonwoo—” You huff, raking a hand through your hair out of frustration. “Will you just tell me what he told you?” “Alright, alright. He just asked me if I knew what I was doing and if I could really make this work with you.”
“Huh?”
“Trust me, I was surprised too.” He chuckles. “He was pretty tame about it. If anything, he seemed to be worried for you. He flat out told me he thinks I don’t have the balls to keep a girl like you around. He said I would blow it which, to be fair, I did once so he’s not wrong about that.”
You are stunned to silence.
“Really? Are you sure you’re not kidding, Wonwoo?”
“Yes, sweetheart, I’m sure. You can relax now. You had nothing much to worry about in the first place. He has no reason to dislike you and even if he did, it would not have mattered.”
You let out a loud breath of relief, one you feel like you have holding all morning. “Well,” you smile even though he cannot see it. “I am relieved.”
“I’m glad to hear that. Should we meet up tonight? I am heading out right now to visit our factories and I think my work there will take up the day.”
“I have plans with Rina tonight.” You reply apologetically.
“Ah, that’s alright. Have fun. I will see you tomorrow at the office anyway.”
“Mhmm.” You bite your lip, hesitating to ask the question bugging your mind.
“I know you have something you want to tell me.” Wonwoo’s voice is playful and you cannot help but giggle out loud. “How did you know?”
He laughs and you imagine his cocky smirk. “I just do. You’re my girlfriend, after all. Now spill.”
You take a deep breath in. “Do you love me?”
“What kind of a question is that?”
“No… it's just that, earlier, you said that you loved me. Do you really?”
“Of course I do.” His voice is soft, almost pleading.
A broad smile kisses your lips. “I see. I just wanted to make sure. I mean…you never said it to my face before.”
“I…I didn’t because—” he stutters, “well, I did not want to put pressure on you. We agreed to take it slow this time and I thought it might be…I don’t know…I’m sorry. I was so passionate in there and it just came out…” He trails off nervously.
“Wonwoo?” You call softly.
“Yes?”
“I love you too.”
You can practically hear him break into a smile. “Really?” He asks, his pitch higher than usual, a clear sign he’s excited. You grin, shaking your head up and down. “Really.”
His deep, melodic laughter floats through and you cannot help but join in. Briefly, you wonder what the cab driver may think of you, laughing like this with your phone pressed to your ear but you’re too in love to care.
“Thank you.” Wonwoo finally says, his voice soft yet serious. “It…it took me losing you to realize how much I love you. At first, I was mad, to be honest. I have never been rejected by a girl before. But then as days passed, a sinking feeling swallowed me up whole. I realized I love you and I was an asshole to you. I became sure of it when I saw you with Jeonghan and for many days, I thought I lost you for good. God, I don’t want to feel like that ever again.” He ends with a deep sigh, his words so raw they penetrate deep into your heart.
You open your mouth to assure him but he continues. “I’m sorry it took me losing you to love you but still, I’m glad. I’m glad and I’m happy that you gave me another chance. I love you, ___. I am so happy I get to love you.”
God have mercy. Tears sting your eyes and you look up, fanning your face.
“Wow, Jeon Wonwoo,” you try to sound playful but your voice comes out hoarse, choked with emotions. “I was not expecting this. Especially over the phone.”
His soft laughter floats through. “I know right, I wasn’t either. I just…felt like telling you, I guess.”
“Well, thank you. I love it when you are honest with me.”
“Then I will try to be more honest with you from now on.” He pauses and then sighs. “Sweetheart, I’m getting a call. I’ll call you tonight?”
“Yes, tonight.” You reply with a smile.
The breakfast club is packed, full of elderly people—retired rich businessmen and their wives, to be exact—who gossip, play golf, eat, and smoke in the early morning on a Tuesday while the rest of the world is on their way to work.
You feel out of your depth here and you would have never come to a place like this had it not been for Chairman Jeon’s instructions.
Last night after you got back from dinner with Rina, you saw the text Chairman Jeon sent you. There was an address below which he wrote:
Meet me here tomorrow at 8.30 am.
Your heart stopped beating immediately and shriveled up in your chest as the reality of the situation hit you. The other shoe had finally dropped and you spent the entire night feeling restless and worrying out of your mind. You lied to Wonwoo to avoid talking to him, saying you felt very sleepy. Instead, you spent the majority of your night pacing back and forth in your room, conjuring up a thousand different ways this meeting could go.
Now, you are here, amidst the chatter of rich people, waiting for your fate to be decided.
With a deep breath, you square your shoulders and put your best game face on as you walk through the large dining space enclosed in a glass building right next to the huge golf field. You continue straight down until you reach the end of the room and find Chairman Jeon at a table, flipping through a newspaper.
Before your mind starts spiraling you head towards him.
“Good morning, Chairman.”
He looks up from his newspaper and smiles. “Ah, you’re just on time! Sit.” He motions to the empty space opposite him and you do so diligently. A waitress comes to your table, serving you a cup of earl grey tea and refilling the Chairman’s empty cup.
“Thank you for taking the trouble to come see me before your work.” He says, folding the newspaper and putting it on the table, next to his teacup.
“No trouble, sir.” You murmur humbly.
“Try the tea while it's hot.” He ushers you to take a sip. “It is very good.”
You do so, taking small sips of your tea and observing him over the rim of the cup. He is dressed in a tracksuit and pants, the most informal you have ever seen him. He remains silent, simply sipping his tea and glancing outside the floor to ceiling windows of the breakfast area and out into the golf field.
Your mind starts running rampant.
He is here to tell you off right? You have seen it in dramas; he will hand you a stack of money and tell you to fuck off and leave his son alone. If he is more pissed, he might splatter that tea all over you. Or worse, what if he tells you that you are fired from Jeon Industries? Oh my god, how embarrassing it would be. What would you say to your colleagues?
Oh God help me.
Despite the downward spiral of your brain, you take notice of one thing. Chairman Jeon’s gaze is still trained outside the window, the look in his eyes tender and full of longing. Curious, you follow his line of sight and spot a group of people on the golf field. An elderly man dressed in a tracksuit, holding a golf stick while talking animatedly to an elderly woman, presumably his wife, dressed like him. Beside them stands a younger girl, smiling at whatever he says while carrying a toddler. The old man interacts with the child, playing with him before taking him in his arms and swinging him around. It looks like they are a family, the grandparents bonding with their grandchild, and then you understand the look in the Chairman’s eyes.
As if he can hear your thoughts, he suddenly says, “You know, all my life all I did was work. My father founded this company and it was upon me to bring us name and fame. From my twenties all I knew was work and outside of it, nothing existed. Not even my wife and my son who needed me.” He pauses, a quiet heavy sigh falling from his lips. His eyes, however, remain trained on the family outside.
“I have known nothing but my work so maybe that’s why I still show up at the office even though I am retired, like yesterday. I am trying to build a life outside of work now but that ship has sailed, no?” he juts his chin to the family. “I have no one to spend time with, no one to call family. Not a wife who will spend the rest of my time with me. Not even a handful of good friends. My business mindset made me burn the bridges I built and I lost the few friends I had. Instead, I made enemies. I made my company great and I made enough people jealous of who I am and what I achieved. But now that those days are no more and I am just a retired old man, it is hard being here alone when everyone my age is here to spend time with their family and friends.”
Heavy silence hangs in the air.
You continue looking at Chairman Jeon, your heart heavy with the weight of his words. He has not been a good father or a good husband, you know that from Wonwoo and others. He, however, has been a good boss and a good leader for the company. You want to voice out those words to improve the mood but there is a lump in your throat that leaves you voiceless, making it hard for you to utter a word of reassurance.
He finally casts his eyes at you. “When he told me it was you I was very surprised. I took the entire day processing this information.”
You sit straighter and nod understandingly. “I am very sorry for lying to you, sir. It really was not my intention. Plus, I wasn’t seeing Wonwoo at that time. We…we were on a break, I guess.”
The chairman sips his tea, looking at you inquisitively. “It will not be wrong of me to assume that my son did something wrong, will it?”
You press your lips together and tuck your chin to your neck, looking at him sheepishly over your glasses.
He laughs, the sound coming out as half a scoff. “This is what worries me. I think Wonwoo is incapable of holding on to a woman like you.”
There is a pause and you decide to break it. “Wonwoo is a good man, sir. He has changed a lot since the first time I met him. I trust him now. I trust his capabilities and his decisions.”
“He definitely has changed,” he murmurs, taking another sip. “I still am worried. A father’s concern I suppose.” He pauses, glancing outside the window for a moment.
“You are one of my most valuable employees, Miss ___. You’re an asset to the company and everyone agrees on this. You have handled all issues of my son with the utmost expertise and you have been a stellar employee. It’s just that…”
What? I’m not good enough to be your potential daughter-in-law? The chairman sighs, “I don’t trust my son. If this relationship fizzles out then you cannot just cut yourself off, can you? You will still be an employee here. And if you decide to leave…”
What? Is he worried that you will spill all the details, all the private information to someone else?
“Sir,” You begin, your voice steady and confident. “If you are worried about my loyalty then please know that it will not waver. Whatever the outcome of my relationship with Wonwoo is, I will continue to be an employee here. I assure you that my— our professional life will be separate from our personal one.”
Chairman Jeon regards you silently for a long while as if pondering your words before nodding his head thoughtfully. Then, he smiles. “You know, I have more faith in you than my own son. You have proven yourself capable many times…something that my son has yet to do.” His gaze in his eyes becomes unfocused as you see his mind trail off somewhere else. “Sometimes I wonder whether it was a good idea to make him the CEO so quickly.”
“Sir,” you begin carefully. “He is still young and very new to this entire thing. Give him some time to prove himself. Let him face the challenges so that he can overcome them by himself. I have faith in him, sir, and I think you should too. We need to cheer him on so he does not question himself.” You abruptly stop, your face heating up at the passion and the borderline annoyance in your tone. Too shy to meet his eyes, you hastily fix your glasses a take a sip of your tea to busy yourself.
Chairman Jeon who has been watching you rather fascinatedly breaks into an amused smile. “Hm, you are quite right.” He hums, his sharp eyes, so much like Wonwoo’s, set intensely on you. “Well then, I suppose I can only wish you well on your new journey. With your work and your relationship.”
“Thank you, sir.” You smile gratefully, your heart finally at ease and free of weight. He nods, glancing at his watch. “I have kept you for too long already. You will be late for office on your first day.” “It’s alright, sir.” You reply, truly meaning it. Sliding your bag over your shoulder you stand up. “It was lovely to spend time with you.”
“Go on now. I’ll see you around.” He ushers you away with his hands. You nod respectfully and take your leave. Taking only three steps away from the table, you stop and turn around, unable to hold back the words brewing in your mind.
“Sir?”
“Hm?” He glances up.
“You still have a family, you know. You still have Wonwoo.” You hold his gaze, speaking the words slowly and carefully. He remains mute, watching you with a gaze clouded by a thick haze. Of what, you don’t know.
Finally, he nods, a small, subtle shake of his head. With that, the corners of his lips upturn slightly, just ever so slightly but it is a smile nevertheless.
You smile back and walk away.
You head to Wonwoo’s office first thing after parking your car in the garage.
Your heels click against the shiny floor as you walk down the hallway, stopping in front of Secretary Yu’s office. “Is Wo— CEO Jeon in?”
He nods, looking at you with a subtle frown. “Thanks.” You chirp and rush towards his room, entering after a quick knock.
Wonwoo sits behind his desk, focused on his computer. The sound of the door opening makes him look up and surprise flutters across his face.
“Hey there, sweetheart.” He grins, rolling his chair back to stand up. “Came to see me first thing in the morning?” You only smile and hurry towards him, wrapping your arms around his waist and resting your head on his solid chest, a content sigh falling from your lips. “I just met your dad.” You mumble.
You feel him become tense. Gently holding your shoulders, he pries you from his body and looks at you with concern. “What? Why? Did he say something to you?”
You shake his head with a smile. “No. It was just a chat. He was very lovely. I think he approves of me.”
Wonwoo watches you, the concern on his face melting away. A bemused smile kisses his lips. “Is that why you are so happy?”
You nod with a smile and Wonwoo laughs softly.
“You know,’’ you murmur thoughtfully. “Your father is quite nice after all.” He arches an amused brow.
You smile. “I’m just saying. You should give him another chance.”
“Wow. My girl is quite optimistic today, isn’t she?”
You giggle, hugging him again. “I love you.” The words fall from your lips easily and naturally, like you have spoken them your entire life. “Let’s be happy together.”
You feel Wonwoo’s body relax, his hands coming to rest on the crown of your head, his fingers going through your hair. He presses a kiss on the top of your head and hugs you tighter. “We will be. I promise.”
Your chin rests right below his collarbone, your eyes peeking at his face with a doe eyed look. He kisses your lips, soft and sweet. “I love you. Always.” He whispers.
I love you.
That’s it. That’s the verdict.

Hey Bones. In the vein of the class traitor question, what do you do when you've been a repeatedly nasty, abusive person? The best way I can explain it is "abusive victimhood".
I am currently on a process of learning about myself, about my ancestors, about trauma and abuse, spirituality and mindfulness, and making amends . Because of that I'm now in a place where I act the best and kindest I can, but on the inside I have a cacophony of completely opposite thoughts I can't quieten. I feel like a fraud. Not helped by being autistic + the masking I do anyway as a woc in white environments .
My concern is that even when I'm genuinely trying , my inner voice is still just so nasty and abusive towards others. Sometimes to the point of contradicting how i actually feel (eg care curiosity, compassion, neutrality) I genuinely don't understand that one.
What do you do when.you know you've made the wrong choices- but you also fear that there's something inherent in you that you can't beat , to authentically make the right choices ?
this is why I like parts work.
I love that inner asshole victim demon. it’s always on my side and it knows once it draws blood very few people will have the marrow to keep fighting. it talks like the women I love and respect most because it is them: for some it’s all I have left of them. it is a beloved relic of a much more terrible time. adulthood continues to mean cultivating more inner demons to surround it and weigh in on the decisions it makes. it hates that. it finds it very difficult to continue controlling the narrative and intruding into my interactions with others. it still chimes in, it still muscles others aside and dashes in to protect me on occasion, but only sometimes, not all the time. since I’m not under any pressure to pretend I’m a consistent or singular unit of Person, I know that my other inner selves will drift in and out and intercede as needed the more I work on giving them power and voice.
much love to your asshole victim. It will never abandon you and it will always come running when you are in very great need. this is a very rare and treasured quality for a person to have. someone like that needs a great many friends.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your eyes stray to the table of cookies again. In the rush of days, blending together with back to back shifts and disparate hours of sleep, you lost track of yourself. When you finally thought to eat, you found an empty cupboard and just as desolate bank account. Rent, electricity, all that ate away at your already leaking reservoir.
Your stomach grumbles and you clasp your hands together, pushing on your middle to ease the clenching. You're so hungry you can barely focus on Caroline. You blink and make yourself listen. You don't want to be disrespectful.
If Kelsey is on shift tonight, she'll let you snag a bag of fries at least. Not the best meal, but something.
You feel weak the more you think about food. A bit dizzy. As you push your shoulders back, your eyes meet another pair. Steve smiles at you from behind his square glasses. You rock and give a sheepish grin.
You do your best to stay alert. You have a half-shift after this and you're not sure how you'll get through. You should have skipped today.
When at last the session lets out, you hurry to join the line, checking your phone for the time. You don't want to miss the bus.
"Working after?" Steve startles you as you shuffle up the table and reach for a cookie. The white macadamia are your favourite. You keep from scarfing it down as you so desperately want to.
"Um, yes," you reply.
"Bus?" He takes a cookie and bites into it with a hum. You're salivating.
"Yeah," you cough. "I should go catch it."
You wrap your cookie in a napkin and step out of queue. He follows.
"Would you like a ride?" He offers.
You nearly trip, "oh no, I couldn't. That's so kind though."
"I don't mind." He drawls. "You work a lot?"
"I guess. But really, you don't have to--"
"You look as if you might fall asleep on the bus," he muses.
"Oh, no, I'm... fine."
"Well, I do hate to keep you then but I hoped to speak with you about something."
"Me?" You utter in surprise.
"Yes, well, we all know each other here. I just thought... well, we all seem rather lonely, don't we?"
"Sure, uh," you look down at the cookie then him. "Alright, I'll take the ride. Can I give you some change for gas."
"Please, don't you even fret," he waves you off.
He follows you to the door and holds it open. You go ahead of him and nibble on the cookie, unable to resist anymore. He points you across the lot to the same car he drove past your window. The memory makes you cringe.
You stop outside the passenger door and chew furiously. He climbs in the other side, "coming?"
"I don't want to get crumbs in your car."
"No worry, please. It's cold."
You look down at your sweater. You're shivering. You're not so much used to the bluster as done fighting it. You cover the cookie and put it in your pocket. You dust off your chest and hands before you get in.
He turns the engine as you buckle your seat belt. A smooth hum rolls through the car. It's so nice you feel as if you might mess it up just by looking.
"Um, so," you begin as he backs out. "What did you want to talk about? I hope... when I asked about your wife, I didn't mean to upset you."
"Oh no, that's what these meetings are, right? We're supposed to talk about all that." He steers and glances over at you. "I appreciated you asking. You're a really sweet girl, you know that?"
'Sweet girl.' The way he says it makes you feel even small. That and how big he is. "Thanks, Steve..."
"I was only thinking. About you," he keeps one hand on the wheel as he leans his other elbow on the arm rest. "Working in that window. Two jobs, you said?"
"Yeah, one's only part-time."
"Still a lot." He remarks.
"But er, well, it's not... you don't need to worry about it."
"I do," he insists.
"Why, uh, well, we don't really know each other." You say as you peer put the window, your words sending a chill through you. You don't know much about Steve and you're in his car.
"I know you work hard. I know things have changed a lot for you since your grandmother passed. And you know how I understand that. That I'm going through the same..."
"Yeah, everyone in the group, I guess, um," you babble dumbly.
"I was only thinking... well, you lost more than your grandmother. You lost a whole life. You've had to adapt a lot more than the rest of us." He pauses and your stomach growls loudly. You wince. "Is that cookie all you've had?"
You shrug, "Steve, I hope... I hope you don't think I'm that helpless."
"Helpless, no, but we could all use help from time to time." He slows as he rolls into the lot of the fast food restaurant. The ride was a lot quicker than the bus. "Which is what I'm offering. Help."
"Ah, oh," you sink. "Is it that obvious?"
"You had a nice wool coat a month ago. You didn't have to fight to stay awake. You... spoke a lot more--"
"Right," you sniff. "It's nice of you to offer but I gotta learn to do things on my own now."
"Do you?" He angles in his seat. "Sweetie, it's no big deal."
"It is to me. I don't even know-- what is it? A job? You know I don't have a degree."
"Mmm, no," he pokes the tip of his tongue out and looks away. "Not a job, but... it isn't safe for you to be taking the bus so late. And definitely not good to be sitting in that cold window for hours."
"Steve, please, you're embarrassing me."
"I... I don't mean to so I'll be honest. I lost my wife, I miss her terribly. And you lost the person who took care of you. So we could... help each other fill that void."
You squint at him then your phone. You have ten minutes. You sigh.
"I don't know--"
"I am trying to be delicate here but... there's men who pay for girls like you. They pay a lot."
"What?" Your voice cracks. "You-- I'm not a prostitute. I--" you pull on the door handle but it doesn't budge. "Let me out. I can't believe-- I never even-- how--"
"I know you haven't before. Which is what I'm saying. I'll pay to be your first--"
You turn to him and hit his arm, "that's...wrong."
"I know. I'm just so... I would make it special, sweetie."
He reaches for you and you push yourself against the car door. Your eyes prick and you swat his hand away. You're humiliated that he would even think you would do that.
"Steve," you reach into your purse and take out a handful of change. You drop it in the cupholder and turn to unlock the door. He touches your shoulder and you shrug him off as you escape. "Thanks for the ride."

One last time I promise after that, I'll let you go
Tumblr media
the first time lando and y/n had met was based of pure coincidence.
they both had common friends who had common activities and that’s how the two got to know each other. their bond started growing right after that.
the friend group they had been a part of had a little problem of bullying and picking on certain members, with Lando and her they had decided to ship them together. it wasn’t a innocent harmless thing, they had actually started to make fun of them based of their ship name and how ugly their kids might be. yeah real mature.
y/ns first signs of infatuation were innocent and harmless, i mean which girl could ever ignore a guy who had stood up to their friends group and had personally told everyone to piss off and leave the both of them alone (that action in intensified their rumours) but Lando didn’t seem to care, it was her in the other hand that seemed to be a bit disturbed by the taunting and bullying.
in a haste decision y/n had decided to leave the friend group and had deactivated her socials, it was only Lando who had convinced her to come back just for him.
cute right??
that’s where everything went wrong and at times she wished she would have never met him.
what started as a innocent crush turned into something more, something more genuine and pure.
isolated incidents with Lando often at times where he was being a sweetheart and spending up to 14 hours a day on zoom calls with her, only ending them if he genuinely had to go or if her parents were upset. He knew her families drama, he knew all about her traumatic friendships and was there to defend her and always reminded her that she was better then them and didn’t need to feel inferior. he was her everything. it didn’t help that he’d always want to spend time one on one and never with the group.
they’d laugh together work together heck even ate meals on zoom together and yet they were not actually together.
y/n had tried multiple times to test and see if he cared about her in a different way one that wasn’t friendly. often times she’s pick a outfit that was rather short or something that wasn’t her to see if he’d ask why she was wearing that or whom she was going out to meet. he’d never say anything
y/n was a rational person and knew that someone like him would never settle for someone like her but a nagging feeling always made her believe that she had a shot. And it wasn’t just her gut, Landon’s own mother had on multiple occasions sat down with the girl and had mentioned just how lucky her son was to have known such a beautiful person both inside out and at one occasion even mentioned how much she wanted her as her daughter in law.
she had blushed rather hardly at that. secretly she had also wished the exact same thing. cisca would have been the best mother in law for her.
Lando’s relation with her wasn’t the only thing that had made her think that he too might have been into her, and no it wasn’t the fact that she was the one who had planned his birthday party nor was it the fact that her family were the only people invited to their Christmas party.
It was Lando’s relationship with her mother, he’d always listen to her no matter what. It often puzzled her why and cisca had the same reaction each time, the desperate mother had once asked y/ns mother to click pictures of lando since he would never let her. silly things yk?
but all these silly things add up and when they do things suddenly don’t feel as silly anymore.
after months of hiding her feelings and being persuaded by her mutual friends who had known of her crush y/n decided to ask lando out it was purely because her friend had said that she too things that lando liked her and was only shy and that’s why y/n should make the move.
stupid stupid decision.
it was peak Covid and tiktok was trending like no other app, whilst trying to find ways to confess without being all sappy she had come across the “Jenny darling you’re my best friend” trend and thought it was the perfect playful way to confess her feelings without it being too sappy or detailed.
With shaking hands she typed the lyrics out bit by bit
lan darling you’re my best friend (read 1:43 pm) (y/n)
yeh ik ( read 1:43 pm) (lan)
but there’s a few things that you don’t know off
(1:43 pm) (y/n)
huh? like wha? you on smth (1:44 pm) (lan)
why i borrow your hoodies so often (1:44 pm) (y/n)
i wanna ruin our friendship, we should be lovers instead
(1:44 pm) (y/n)
the risk that she had taken had backfired so magnificently that it was almost laughable.
Lando Norris was one person who wouldn’t be caught without his phone, and that’s why his sudden disappearance was like a punch in the gut for her.
it was a whole day later when he’d replied.
oh ok (2:30 am) (lan)

Thinking about: Nanny K.MG
Tumblr media
💭Who: Kim Mingyu (Seventeen) x female reader 💭What: Friends to lovers. Fluff. Suggestive (18+). Live in nanny Mingyu. Single parent reader. 💭Word count: 2.4k 💭Warnings: Reader chose to be a single mother and medically conceived. Reader is Mingyu’s boss so I guess you could say power imbalance but it’s also very much not - that’ll make sense when you read. Alcohol consumption - they don’t get drunk. Suggestive scenes at the end. 💭Summary: “You expect to go home and hear about your son’s day from his nanny as the little boy sleeps soundly upstairs, just like normal. You certainly don’t expect to wind up in Mingyu’s bed with a dramatic change to your dynamic, but you really aren’t going to complain about that.”
Minors do NOT interact, which means reblogging and/or commenting on this story. I WILL block any account that interacts without an age indicator in their bio.
Masterlist
A/N- This is in the same universe as Thinking about: Nursery teacher L.JH, and the Juni mentioned in this is the same Juni as in that story! In February, I will be releasing a prequel to the Jihoon story, which will have our dear nanny Gyu and little Danil as characters! I’m very excited and hope you will enjoy that one too when it’s available!
Tumblr media
Getting home late isn’t unusual for you; with your company in the process of expanding you haven’t had a lot of option but to stay late almost every single day for the past handful of weeks, unfortunately.
Which means that by the time you’re home, your darling son is already tucked up deep asleep in bed, looking so cosy and cute that you want nothing more than to crawl up next to him, pull him into your loving embrace and fall asleep. But you can’t, you don’t want to risk waking him when you know he always fights sleep so much in hopes of seeing you.
Of course, you feel like a terrible mother these days due to rarely seeing Danil during weekdays, what with you having to leave for work while he’s still getting ready for school and returning hours after his nanny has managed to soothe him to sleep. You hope that within the next few weeks, you can return to normal times to join the two for dinner and take over from Mingyu afterwards, allowing him to clock off and do whatever he wants for the rest of the night.
Not that you think the giant hearted nanny would do anything out of the usual even given the rest of the night off. At this point, you think Mingyu would spend his days off with Danil every weekend all the same if not for his friends dragging him off to make sure he remembers that he is a real person outside of his job.
You’ve tried to shoo Mingyu away yourself many weekends and convince him to call up his friends or go on a date, just something other than always being around to dote on your family of two. Yet the tall man always looks at you with round eyes shining sadly and without even needing to say a word, he bends your arm, and you give in, invite him to whatever activity you’ve planned for you and your son. Though at this point, you always make sure to factor in Mingyu when planning, knowing that he’ll likely puppy eyes his way right back to your son’s side.
And honestly, you wouldn’t want it any other way.
Seeing Mingyu with your son always settles you in a way you’ve never experienced. You’ve never seen Danil with a male figure in his life other than Mingyu. There’s never been a father around because you decided to do this solo, and you haven’t once regretted that decision to be a single mother from the moment of planned conception.
But there’s something special about seeing Danil hang off of Mingyu’s every word, or the gentle way Mingyu helps the boy with his homework and teaches Danil how to be a good human, and it makes you feel like maybe there is one person who you wouldn’t mind being the father of your child, and perhaps even more in the future.
Yet Mingyu is someone you’ve been paying to live in your house and look after your son since Danil could walk. In fact, you had been paying Mingyu before then as a babysitter, not a live in nanny, and the man had been there for Danil’s first steps and had looked as proud and emotional as you felt seeing your little boy unsteadily put one foot in front of the other without assistance of either of your hands.
As much as you wish you could pluck up the courage and ask Mingyu on a date, at the very least, you’re his boss and you can’t risk it. If things went wrong, Mingyu might leave and that wouldn’t just break your heart but Danil’s too. So, for the sake of your son, you keep your feelings to yourself.
“Hey,” Mingyu’s soft whisper makes you jolt slightly where you’re leaning against the doorframe of Danil’s bedroom to watch your son sleep.
You should’ve known that Mingyu would appear, he always does when you get home, but only after you’ve had the chance to peer in on your son and whisper your love into the air in hopes that it will reach Danil’s subconscious and bless him with nothing but sweet dreams. Tonight though, you had been too deep in your own mind with thoughts of the tall man to hear him near.
“Hi,” you reply just as quietly as you peer over at him.
“Come on, I’ve got exciting news, and a bottle of your favourite open,” he tempts you, not just with his cheekily grinned words but the outstretched arm and fingers wiggling invitingly at you.
There’s no hesitation, no thought as you put your hand in his and let him lead you downstairs and to the living room where, as promised, there’s a bottle of your favourite wine open on the coffee table and two glasses with the drink already poured within.
You both settle in the dimly lit room, only the sounds of whatever movie Mingyu had left running playing lowly in the background. He doesn’t even look at it, instead turns on the sofa so that he’s got one leg tucked under him and his shoulder against the backrest so that he can look at you as you gratefully swallow down your first mouthful of wine.
“Tough day?” He comments, smiling amusedly as you consume the contents of your glass before he’s even taken his first sip.
“No more than usual, just wish I could be home with you two more,” you reply forlornly as you watch Mingyu top up your glass.
“Two?” He repeats quietly and carefully puts the bottle down on the table.
“Mm. You and Danil.”
“But I’m just-”
“Mingyu, if you say you’re just his nanny, you’re not allowed to spend this weekend with us.”
Immediately, Mingyu looks at you with his sad puppy eyes and slightly protruded bottom lip. “But that’s my favourite part of the week, spending time with you two doing fun stuff.”
“Mine too, but you don’t get paid on weekends, Mingyu, which means you’re not his nanny during those trips.”
“Then why do you let me stay if you don’t think of me as the nanny?” He frowns confusedly. “If you don’t want me there to help and do everything I usually do, why do you let me stay and include me?”
“Because you’re one of us,” you answer honestly. “Our family.”
“What?” His expression melts as somehow, his eyes turn even bigger. “You consider me family?”
“What else would I consider you? You’ve been around since Dan was a baby; you’ve done probably more child care than I have at this point, even when you don’t have to. We love having you here and although I feel bad when you choose to spend weekends with us instead of joining your friends or going to find yourself a girlfriend and start your own family, I’m glad you stay.”
“I don’t want another family,” he admits and puts his slightly trembling hand over yours where they both remain around your glass propped on your folded legs. You look down at his touch and remove one hand from the glass to allow him to hold it. “I only want this one.”
“Mingyu…” you swallow thickly as your heart races with what this could imply, if he is saying family in the way you wish for, or in a broader sense. Maybe he means he wants to be Uncle Mingyu, not the father of your son, which you would accept, of course you’d accept Mingyu wanting to be Uncle Mingyu, but hearing Danil calling him daddy in the same breath as you mama, that would be something wonderful, you think.
“I know I’m overstepping, I’m just the guy you pay to watch your son, and honestly I’d do that for free if this wasn’t my only source of income, but you see…the thing is that I…I’ve fallen in love with you both and I would really, like really love to be a family with you,” he confesses.
For a second longer, you stare unblinkingly at his hand before you register that you haven’t just fantasised his words like you have many times before. Mingyu really did just confess to being in love with you and that he wants to be a family, which sounds like he wants to take on the exact role you’ve been yearning for him to for years now.
“J-just to clarify what you mean,” you say as you slowly look up at him and find his anxious gaze locked on you. “By family are you saying you want to be Uncle Mingyu or…daddy?”
“Uhm…the second one…if-if you would allow me to be.”
“I need to get a new nanny,” you mutter dumbly and watch as Mingyu’s features fall.
“Oh.” He looks away and turns, removing his hold from you as he swallows down the contents of his glass faster than he ever drinks any wine. “Right, I’ll uhm, pack my stuff and be gone by tomorrow evening so the new nanny can have my room.”
“Gyu,” you breathe out and shuffle closer to gently cup his farthest cheek and turn him to look at you. There are tears gathering on his lashes. “Oh, baby, I didn’t mean it like that,” you assure softly and brush your thumb across his cheek as a tear falls and drips down across his skin.
“N-no?” You shake your head and give a little, reassuring smile. “Then h-how?”
“I can’t really keep paying you to be Danil’s nanny when you’re his daddy.”
Mingyu’s breath catches in his throat and his eyes dart over your expression rapidly for a handful of seconds before settling back on your eyes. “You mean it?” He whispers.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this.”
“For Danil to have a dad?”
“For you to be his dad.”
“Oh,” he breathes out. “I love you, I-I don’t know if you love me too or-or just want me to be his dad and I’ll accept that, whatever I need to so I can be that for him, but I just need you to kno-know. I love you and I have for…” he lets out a breath. “It feels like I’ve always loved you, even before I knew you. It’s just…”
“Natural,” you finish, and he nods in confirmation.
“Yeah, it feels natural to love you, like it’s all I was made for; to love you and Danil.”
“Do you have more love?”
“Huh?”
“Well…Danil has been asking to have a little brother; it might take us a few tries to get the right gender, but I don’t mind repeat attempts if it’s with you.”
The tears in Mingyu’s eyes return with a vengeance and start to spill over, trickling down to meet your thumb still smoothing over his cheek. “Y-you want to have babies with me?”
“I do.”
“And that?” You make a confused sound. “Will you say I do in another circumstance with me one day?”
“Are you asking if I’ll marry you one day?” You wonder in surprise. He just nods and then you surge in to kiss him, utterly overwhelmed with emotion and unable to even attempt to verbally answer right now.
Mingyu whimpers slightly at the sudden, passionate kiss but then he’s blindly taking your glass from your hand to place onto the coffee table with his own so that he can pull you onto his lap and wrap his arms around you, all without breaking the kiss.
You kiss for long enough that your lips are bruised and tingling, chests heaving as your lungs search for air by the time you break apart and look at one another with matching hooded eyes.
“I love you, so fucking much,” you inform when you have your breath back enough to speak, running your fingers through his hair to try and tame the mess you’ve already made of it. “I want it all with you, Mingyu; marriage, babies, everything.”
“Fuck,” he pulls you in to another intense kiss with one hand threaded into your hair at the back of your head and his other arm around your waist to pull you even closer and press you down against him where you can feel how aroused he is, and it only makes your body burn brighter. “I’ll be the best daddy, I promise.”
“To me or the kids?” You joke and watch as his eyes darken before his lips spread into a seductive smirk that makes you wish you’re already in your bedroom. Or maybe his; it’s further away from Danil’s, therefore, much more suited for your current urges.
“Tonight, yours,” he answers and leans in to nip at your bottom lip teasingly. “Sound good, baby? Wanna go upstairs and show daddy how much of a good girl you can be?”
“Fuck yeah.”
Later, you lay in Mingyu’s bed naked, where he excitedly tells you that Danil has been invited to his first ever birthday party this coming Sunday, a picnic for a little girl named Juni that you’re both invited to as well, and you’ll repeat your love into one another’s skin in between discussing where to go from here.
Mingyu can’t technically be Danil’s nanny anymore, even if you agree to not tell anyone about the change quite yet as you want to ease into it, so Mingyu will be more like a stay at home dad and although he has savings and you both don’t want you to give him an allowance because it’ll feel too much like paying him to look after his own son, you agree that for now, you’ll keep paying him until things are settled and he can look for a job if he wants to have his own income.
There’s a lot more that needs to be discussed too; how to tell Danil, when to tell Danil, if Mingyu will move into your bedroom so you’re both closer to your son or you’ll move into Mingyu’s so there’s less chance of Danil hearing your private, late night activities, or if you’ll just swap between for the best of both worlds, plus a whole list of practicalities and legalities about the change of status, but for now, you decide to just enjoy what’s fallen into your lap.
Mostly because it’s your new boyfriend’s mischievous grin before he presses your thighs apart to get his head in between them for the nth time, and there’s really not a chance in hell that you’ll ever stop the man from loving you in every way he sees fit when this seems to be his favourite method.
As soon as Mingyu is done and you’ve got your strength back, you’ll return the favour and show the man how grateful you are that he’s agreed to take up the title of Daddy, but for now, you lay back with your fingers in his hair and enjoy the ride.

Spent a while thinking about this because Lloyd’s desire to be like his father (really, for them both to be like each other) was such a driving force of his development and his dynamic with Garmadon. Long rant
Yes it’s a goofy premise for a silly show but I think there could be a lot to unpack and treat with respect about how a very young boy was told to think of his own life as only his potential for evil, and for this child to cling to the image of his father, the most evil person in the world, both for reassurance in those goals and reassurance in his capability to live up to the life’s purpose assigned to him while he was failing in school, the only community he knew or was allowed to know.
And then after that, not only unlearning this idea that he could only ever be evil, but willingly accepting that his destiny was to be a force of good and then going forth to learn and live that purpose, forced him to choose between himself and his father— but still he couldn’t make an all-or-nothing decision: he accepted that he had to battle what his father had been forced to become, but he was still allowed to mourn the man.
And then after that, when Garmadon was purified from the venom, Lloyd had finally achieved the right to want to be like his father again. Although Sensei Garmadon and Lloyd disagreed on how they would be as good people (especially concerning the use of violence, and a whole lot to unpack there too with the narrative of Garmadon’s trauma juxtaposed with Lloyd’s childhood isolated idolisation, martial arts, and the use of violence in media as entertainment), their desire to be accepted by the other shapes and is in turn shaped by their desire to emulate the best qualities they perceive that the other embodies (for Garmadon, perhaps Lloyd’s youthful potential to change; for Lloyd, perhaps Garmadon’s resistance and ability to endure). Cumulating, of course, in Lloyd’s acceptance of Garmadon’s robes and his sacrifice to stop the Preeminent.
And then Lloyd was left again with only an image of his father to idealise, albeit a better-informed and positive image, as he went on to fill his place as a leader and master of the group when Wu became incapacitated and after that during his absence. One could argue that Lloyd was filling Wu’s place, whose absence more immediately provided a void in their group dynamic, but I’d say that he fills the role of master in a way more similar to Garmadon: Lloyd is genuine, we (both the audience and his peers in-world) know his past wrongdoings, and his leadership is for the good of the people he immediately cares about (as opposed to Wu, who is haunted, who conceals his past wrongdoings, and is motivated by the greater good of the world). Even after Garmadon is resurrected by Harumi, Lloyd decides to continue to embody the image of Garmadon that his sacrifice left him, as a good man who would work to end the cycle of violence, no matter the consent of his participation in it. And, I think, a lot to unpack there as Lloyd’s image of his father echoes the image he would have desired as a child, and the unpleasant resonances with the evil that Lloyd himself once did (either intentionally, as a student, or unintentionally, as the collateral damage of his battles), and having to accept once again that his father is not the man who Lloyd thinks he is, and having to decide to live his life, finally, without the guidance of his father or his father’s ghost.
But even after Lloyd chooses to honour his father’s ghost by defeating the monster, their bond continues to echo within the narrative. Lloyd Garmadon doesn’t flee his father’s name, and whether or not he still holds his father as close to his heart as he once did, he can’t change how central their relationship was for the formation of his most core principles and values as a ninja, a person, and a friend. Garmadon, too, lets himself be haunted by the echoes. Becoming more like Lloyd may not be the conscious affirmation he gives himself, but he notices something about himself think and change.
So when Lloyd’s fear is revealed to be becoming like his father, one could say that his fear is being doomed by some force of destiny to undo everything that he has worked for. One could also argue that his fear is living in somebody else’s shadow without being able to be his own man, or simply becoming an evil person. I’d say that his fear of becoming like Garmadon is, instead, a fear that one of his acts of goodness, perhaps one of his acts of good in Garmadon’s memory, would unintentionally force him into a lifetime of betrayal of himself.
Because Lloyd, as the son of Garmadon, the Green Ninja, and a public celebrity figure, has been watched and criticised for his every action from an incredibly young age. He is someone who rarely has the opportunity to see someone else eye-to-eye— he’s usually either looking up or looking down. So it makes sense that he would become hyper-aware of his every decision, given that most of them might have very real and perhaps very deadly consequences for either him or the people that look up to him. It isn’t only that he would be weighing his every decision as ‘good’ or ‘evil’, it’s that he would be doing that analysis from a very fundamentally complex point of view, chaotic in its conception between his indoctrination as a child at evil boarding school, overarching and reductive concepts in philosophy, and his own experience as a child navigating a very blurred line between concepts of good and concepts of evil, and likely the very early acceptance that ‘good’ and ‘evil’ are incredibly flawed categories of analysis coupled with the acceptance that those flawed concepts are still the vocabulary of the larger population, and he has very little ability, even with all the power in the world, to change that (going back to attitudes about violence and the use of violence as spectacle and the very underexplored use of entertainment and news media in the Ninjago world). So not only does he have to evaluate good and evil, he has to do so with his own theory and vocabulary (though the show doesn’t definitively gesture towards what they might be), again likely developed at a very young age, or conceptualised at a young age but not fully defined. Perhaps never fully defined, and constantly upheaved.
Which is likely not helped by knowing the story of how Garmadon became evil in the first place— one act of selflessness.
Which is likely not helped by knowing the story of how Morro became so hateful— one act of selfishness.
Considering, too, what else he may have learned or come to know about good and evil from his time being possessed by Morro, who he could have been so much like and who could have been so much like him.
So I say Lloyd’s fear is the looming potential that one act of selflessness or one act of selfishness could set him against all the principles that he believes, all the work he has done to become the person he wants to be, and all the memories of those he has lost along the way, best represented by the image of his father— who was lost down the same path after an act of selflessness, whose principles he adopted, who guided the work he did and shaped the image of the person he both wants to and has to be in so many different ways for so many years, and whose memory he honours in his own acts of selflessness. So continues the cycle.
This is I guess a really (really) long way to say that I can’t agree with character analyses that hinge on some desire of Lloyd’s to entirely (or to the fullest extent possible) reject his father and I will never forgive the later seasons for turning their relationship into “I hate you dad I will never turn into you dad” or “you’re evil now and I’m not” and sort of just leaving it there. Because it could continue to be so much more complex (and the first five seasons [or seven, depending on how one wants to read them] set up and executed it in a way that isn’t bad) but the new Ninjago writers are afraid of depth.
sort of just a tangent i don’t really have opinions about his hair
So lately I've been seeing a lot of fanart of lloyd with long hair and the more I think about it the better it is!?
Something that's been repeatedly established about lloyd is the similarities he's had to his father and while its mainly focused on personality it's clear they look alike as well. I mean garmadon and lloyd have the same haircut and it's a hair cut lloyd has for a good chunk of the show making him look really similar to young garmadon because of it. It has also been established that lloyd hates the idea of being like his dad and even gets terrified when he sees his oni form in his reflection because of that fear, which connects it back into his appearance.
Tumblr media
This leads me to believe that he'd want to look completely different so he wouldn't have to see his worst fear every time he looks in the mirror. Growing out his hair is an Easy way to do that and it can tie back to his days at darkleys where he presumably got his hair cut the same way every time and didn't have much of a choice considering all the boys got either the same or a very similar haircut.
Tumblr media
Lloyd growing it out long goes against both his past at darkleys and his resemblance to his father. This also makes him look more like his mother as a result and while a lot of people hate misako in this Fandom I think the relationship between her and lloyd has a lot of potential and connecting lloyd to his mother's side of the family is something I really wanted to see.
Like imagine misako braiding lloyds hair for him just like the way her mother taught her how too. They quietly talk and catch up with eachother about misako's latest exploration or lloyds new training regimen. It ends up becoming a routine for them every time they get reunited. Because hair holds memories and they want to hold the ones they make together close.
He'll even look more like the FSM!!
Tumblr media
Anyways long rant but long-haired lloyd supremacy. Rather it's shoulder length and well kept or absurdly long like jinx's hair from arcane is it will always be famous in my heart.

Crappy Character Analysis, part 11 (finale)
Alas, my ramblings have reached their end. We have the final voice: The Voice of the Hero. I saved him for last on purpose, since understanding the other voices is almost vital to understanding his character. If this is the first post of mine you see, do me a favor and check out the other parts first, so you can truly appreciate how special this character is.
part 1 (Broken) part 2 (Skeptic) part 3 (Cold)
part 4 (Paranoid) part 5 (Stubborn) part 6 (Contrarian)
part 7 (Smitten) part 8 (Opportunist) part 9 (Cheated)
part 10 (Hunted)
VOICE OF THE HERO
Hero is probably the most nuanced character in this entire game. He is the very first voice you get, and the only one to appear in every chapter of the game. He’s also far more complex than the single-minded voices that are also populating your subconscious. His first line is questioning whether or not you’re actually going to slay the Princess, yet if that’s what you decide to do, he goes along with it. He’s a lot quieter than most of the other voices, and allows you to make your own decisions. Once you start getting to Chapter 3’s, he fades into the background, only offering one or two lines when things start getting really out of hand. He seems mostly unable to exert the same control over your body that the other voices do, and is perfectly fine with going along for the ride. In his appearances, he acts as the voice of reason, trying to find the best option for everyone. In many cases, he tries to compromise, even when both the Narrator and Princess confirm that you’re going to have to make a choice eventually. I would make the argument that the Hero is the closest to an actual person than any other character.
Hero is simply someone who is trying his best. You get him the second you make a choice. He represents free will, and the natural feeling to question anything you’re told. He wants to do the right thing, and murdering a Princess is not in those bounds. However, he is incredibly loyal to you, the decider. He recognizes that all decisions come down to you. Even if you make a choice that Hero strongly dislikes, he still sticks by you, doing his best to spin something positive out of the results. His normalcy also adds a balance to the extreme personalities the other voices host. When Hero is surrounded by irrational voices, such as the Smitten or the Broken, he acts as a voice of reason (Example, telling Smitten that the two of you can’t be in love, since you just met). Around more grounded voices, such as the Skeptic or the Cold, Hero is more prone to panic (Example, him asking whether you can “put back” the Prisoner’s decapitated head). He is also incredibly courageous, not only staying strong in the course of the main game, but assisting you in the final confrontation with the Princess.
Even more important to the Hero’s character is that every subsequent voice comes from him. Each fragments off from the whole, and then takes that piece and grows it to an extreme. This is why the Hero has more nuance than the rest of the cast; he is a bunch of personality traits combined, rather than one or two. This is why there are times he shows empathy, or falls in love, or opts for violence. The Hero represents a person so well that he often echoes the thoughts of people playing the game.
Finally, you can’t talk about Hero without mentioning the final cabin scene. He is one of the two voices to side with you if you are rude to them in every mirror scene. One of my favorite moments is when he offers to narrate the cabin for you, and if you agree, stumbles through a half-hearted description, meant more to try and cheer you up than actually paint an image. No matter what choice you make with the Princess, the Hero is loyal to the end, justifying your every action. The saddest part of the “Leave with Her” ending is leaving him behind, yet he understands that the two of you have a story to finish, and he knows that he has done his job. Still, if you leave with the harsh Princess, he still takes joy in her calling you “Hero”. The voice of the Hero is the most popular voice for a reason, and I hope I did him justice.

“CRAZY STUPID THING CALLED LOVE” HENRY HART X SUNSHINE FEM!READER PART 1
Tumblr media
SUMMARY : Kid Danger saves you from a robbery and can’t help but flirt with you, a stranger. But…maybe you do know him? (Both are 18 and in senior year of high school. I think only once mention of y/n)
A/N : I actually am proud of this. I think I really captured Henry and Kid Danger his alter ego really well while making it entertaining. Part 2 will be soon.
You probably shouldn’t be walking by yourself, alone in the dark. Swellview wasn’t exactly the safest place in the world with all the crime happening in town. You didn’t have a choice though. Getting a job to help your mother pay for the bills was something you just had to do. You were a waitress at a small diner in town and only made eight dollars an hour. The tips were barley dimes but it was putting food on the table.
Working was actually really good for you. It made you get out the house and get a breath of fresh air. The only thing you didn’t appreciate were the gross and quite frankly bold men that were willing to hit on an eighteen year old.
Juggling school and work wasn’t hard for you either. You were incredibly smart and because of you taking all the required classes in your freshman year, your senior year was flying by in a freeze.
The night was a cold one. You were so exhausted that you had left your jacket back at your job. The goosebumps ran down your arm and the hair stood still. The full moon was bright, beaming on your skin. You would’ve appreciated its beauty if it wasn’t so damn cold.
While you were walking, you saw a man walking towards you. You couldn’t really make out his face with the hood and it being dark. He wore all black clothing too. All you could tell was that he was a tall man.
“Hey, baby let me take you out in a date.”
You cringed at the grown man cat calling you. You didn’t think you’d ever get used to it. It didn’t matter though. You had to power through. You still had a ten minute walk to go.
“No thank you.” You tried to sound cheerful and polite as you made your way past him but he wasn’t going for it.
“I said let me take you.” He grabbed your forearm, keeping you in place. You hissed at the grip and he only made it tighter. He was starting to freak you out.
“Let me go, please.”
The man didn’t say anything. He looked down to your purse, eyeing it intensely before deciding to make the decision to grab it.
Honestly, it may have been stupid to fight him on the purse. Most people would say it isn’t worth your life. Well, to you, it was. That was all you had and you had to get it to your mother.
“Hey! Give it back!” You grabbed your purse but he still had all his strength on the purse.
“Let go, bitch!”
He smacked you across the face, making you fall down. You hit the concrete hard. It was as through the blood was going to your head because you felt dizzy.
Right when he was about to get away, you started to hear choking. It made you focus your eyes on him and that’s when you saw him. Kid Danger.
Kid Danger was choking the man. You never saw him so angry before. The way he was showed on the news made him seem like the funny but cool sidekick. Nothing like this.
He threw in a couple good punches at the man. While choking him. Your eyes were wide at seeing the sight. Blood was coming out the man’s mouth and nose.
After he finished, he held the man in place. The man was too out of it to fight back. “Careful. Don’t fall.” Then Kid Danger forcefully shoved him to the ground. “Aw. You forgot to be careful.”
Amazed was an understatement.
He stepped over the man’s body. Then grabbed the purse that was sitting on the ground. He walked a little ways over to you. You were waiting for him to help you up but he didn’t help you, he picked you up himself.
You were shocked at how strong he was, considering you knew Kid Danger was about your age. He held you, bridal style, looking you in the eyes. “Are you okay?”
He was a superhero. Of course he would show concern but the way he showed you concern felt like he had known you forever. “Yeah, I’m okay.” You say, still star struck at what just happened.
Kid Danger gently placed you on your feet but didn’t let go of you. His hand went to the right side of your cheek, seeing the bruise that was starting to form.
You saw the look of concern quickly turn back to anger. Again, the way he was acting was as if he knew you personally.
“I’m cool. It’s just a scratch.”
Kid Danger nodded but it looked like he wasn’t convinced. He pulled away from you slightly and handed you your purse. When he did, you instantly felt cold again. You started to hug yourself to find warmth.
“You cold?”
The voice. You didn’t know how it was familiar but it was. “A little.”
Kid Danger walked back over to the man. Then forced his jacket off of him. “Hey man that’s mine…” The man said drowsy but Kid Danger wasn’t hearing it. He immediately kicked the man in the stomach, causing him to yell in pain.
You held in your giggle but couldn’t hide your smile when he did that. He wrapped the jacket around you before helping you put your arms in.
“Um, thank you. I could’ve handled it though.” You jokingly said.
Kid Danger chuckled. He lifted your head up to examine the bruise. “Oh, yeah. I can tell.” He said before pulling away. “I shouldn’t have to be the one to tell you not to lose your life over a purse.”
Again, the way he scolded you made you think as though he knew you to at least some degree. “Yeah, I know. But I really need it.”
“Must be something important in that purse.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because you’re not the type to lose your life over something so small.”
“She is.” The robber perched up to say. Kid Danger doesn’t even bother to look at him. He takes out his laser pointer and zaps him repeatedly, putting him to sleep.
“Right…” You got back on topic. Then what he said caught your attention. “Not the type?” You asked. “You don’t know me.”
You could see the realization hit his eyes and he let out an awkward laugh. “Yeah, totally. Never seen you before in my entire life.” He said then quickly reiterated what he said. “I mean, you just don’t seem like it.”
You nodded, a little skeptical but brushed it off. “Well, it has all the money I made from my job.”
“You work?” Kid Danger asked in surprise.
“Yeah.” He seemed appalled at the idea of working and you placed your hands on your hips. “You know you’re a superhero right?”
Kid Danger put up his arms, flexing his biceps playfully. “I’m gooood though, right?”
His playfulness, the way he was sassy, and the tone all reminded you of one person; Henry Hart.
Henry Hart had been in your class since Kindergarten. The two of you weren’t friends, but really good classmates and the two of you had a good relationship with each other.
But you also had a secret, you had a crush on him.
You always admired him from afar. He was funny and handsome. A guy you thought had it all but every girl in the entire school swooned over him so you never stood a chance.
Kid Danger caught you laughing and smiling which made him smile back at you. “What?”
“You just remind me of someone.”
“Insanely good looking and awesome?”
You rolled your eyes playfully at him. “Yeah, kinda.” You fixed the strap of your purse before extending your hand for him to shake. “I’m, (Y/N).”
Kid Danger took your hand but didn’t shake it. Instead he brought it to his lips and kissed your knuckles, giving you a little wink. “Nice to meet you.”
You had heard Kid Danger being flirtatious but you weren’t expecting him to be flirty with you. You felt the blood rush to your cheeks and you pulled your hand away from him. “Oh. Cool. Um. I should be heading home.”
You started to walk away from him but Kid Danger was right on your side, walking with you. “Cool. Lead the way.”
“You don’t have to do that.” You shook your head.
“Um, yeah I do.” He pointed to the bruise on your cheek. “I gotta save you from yourself.”
You rolled your eyes at him. “Haha. So funny.” Before he could say something, you ended up tripping on a high crack in the concrete but Kid Danger was fast. He caught you.
“Yeah, definitely gotta save you from yourself.”
You looked at him like, curiously. “How can you do that again?”
Kid Danger helped you back up and the two of you started walking again. “Hyper mobility. I got fast reflexes.”
You nodded at the explanation before sighing. “I couldn’t imagine being a hero and saving lives.”
“It’s cool. Stressful but I like helping people.”
“What made you do it anyway?”
“Well, I was looking for a job and Captain Man asked me helicopters or kangaroos, and I said helicopter.”
You gave him an unconvincing look. “You’re serious?”
The look of unbelievable made him laugh. “I know it sounds crazy but basically yeah. Being a superhero has its advantages too.”
You nodded knowingly. “I bet.”
The way you said it made him look at you. “What’s that mean?”
“Oh come on, I bet you have all the girls in town drooling over you.”
The statement made Kid Danger agree. “A lot of girls do drool over me.” Then he had realized what you said. “You saying you’re not one of them?”
“You’re not my type.” You said all with a smile.
He gave you a look like you had offended him. He placed a hand over his heart. “I’m not your type?!”
It made you laugh. “Believe it or not, Kid Danger but you’re not everyone’s type.”
“Hmm.” The two of you walked while he was in deep thought until he eventually gasped like he was a school girl. Then he jokingly hit your shoulder. “You have a crush on someone.”
Your face started to become red. Kid Danger calling you out on your crush had to be the most embarrassing thing that could happen to you. Even though you were pretty much over it. “Um…”
“You totally do. Who is it?”
“You wouldn’t even know.”
“Which is exactly why you should tell me. Where’s the harm in it?”
He was right. He wouldn’t know who it was and it’s not like he was going to go blab to the guy. You bit your lip, fighting the embarrassment that was running through you. “Just some guy at my school.”
Kid Danger seemed even more excited to know who it was. “Who is…?”
He wasn’t going to give it up. That was obvious so you gave in and told him. “Henry Hart.”
He froze. Stopped dead in his tracks. The sudden movement made you stop to. You couldn’t read any other expression besides shock. It was starting to make your heart sink. “Do you know him?”
After the question, Kid Danger quickly coughed like he was choking and shook his head. “What? No. Henry Hart? Such a dumb name.”
He started to walk again and grabbed your hand to make you start back walking. “What do you like about him?”
“Why? Do you want to date him?” You questioned sarcastically.
He shrugged. “Maybe.”
You shook your head then sighed. “I don’t know. He’s funny and nice. It’s kinda hard to explain. We’ve known each other since Kindergarten. I mean the crush isn’t really a big deal. It’s starting to go away honestly.”
Kid Danger scoffed like he was offended. “Go away? What did I-i mean-what did he do to start making it go away?”
“I mean, you can’t keep liking the same guy you’ve liked since third grade. Especially the guy that doesn’t really see you.”
“He sees you.”
“How would you know?”
As the two of you walked along the street, a flower vendor was there. Kid Danger stopped in his tracks and pulled out a money clip out his pocket. Then handed the guy some money. He placed the clip back before taking a rose from the stand. He handed you the rose. “Look at you. What guy wouldn’t see you.”
‘Kid Danger? Giving me a rose? Is this really happening?’ You tried to hide your smile but couldn’t. He noticed and smiled back.
The two of you went back to walking. “If that’s the case then why hasn’t he came up to me.”
“Well…maybe it’s because he doesn’t think he has a chance.”
You scoffed. “Yeah, right. He has every girl at school wrapped around his finger.”
Kid Danger laughed at your comment, wiping his mouth. “I don’t think he has every girl wrapped.”
“He absolutely does.”
“Regardless…maybe it’s because you’re different. I mean, all those other girls are the same but…you’re you. And maybe he doesn’t want to mess that up.”
You listened intently on his advice trying to buy it. It could be true but you honestly didn’t think so. Henry Hart didn’t have feelings for you and that was okay. You were practically over it. “Yeah. Maybe.”
The two of you finally reached to your house. He walked you up your porch steps. “Thanks for walking me home. You didn’t have to do that.” You said while taking the jacket off and handing it to him.
Remembering it was the robber’s coat, he just threw it over his shoulder, hitting the trash can on the curb loudly. It made you shake your head. “Why do you work? Shouldn’t you be focused on school?”
“I need to help pay the bills. My mom can’t do it alone.” You saw the look of pity in his face and you sighed. “It’s fine. I don’t mind. The only bad thing about it is all the grown ass men hitting on me.”
Kid Danger’s jaw clenched. His knuckles were tight and he looked pissed. “What days you work?”
“Just Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.”
“What time?”
“3 to 12. Why?”
Kid Danger grabbed a red marker out his pocket. Then grabbed your arm. He wrote out what appeared to be a phone number on it. “Call me and I’ll walk you.”
You gave him a look as he wrote. “Um. My arm?”
When he was finished, he placed the marker back in his pocket. “Um. It washes off?” He playfully said while copying the tone of your voice.
You looked at the number and then looked back up at him. “Do you give out your number to every girl you save?”
With that question, Kid Danger just winked at you. “Only the pretty ones.”
‘Why did he have to be so flirty with me?’ You didn’t know how many times your face went red tonight with him but it had to of been the one hundredth. “Well. I better get going.”
You tried to rush in your home but he grabbed your arm to stop you. “Make sure you talk to that guy.”
“I already told you. I’m over him. Just an old crush.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah.”
Kid Danger nodded. He took his hand from your arm. “You want to go on a date then?”
The question caught you so off guard that you almost started to choke on your own spit. “Like a coffee date or like-“
“Like the kind I give you flowers, take you to dinner, you tell me everything about yourself and then I get to kiss you at the end.”
You felt your heart beating out of your chest. You both liked how straightforward he was and hated it. There was no way Kid Danger was asking you out.
You started to laugh out nervousness. “What? Well…I mean how is that gonna work? With the whole anonymous superhero thing?”
“You let me take you out on three dates and I’ll take my mask off.”
What you weren’t understanding is why he was so eager to take you? Why did he like you so much? “I don’t know. I mean, I’m sure you got a whole line of women at your feet so I won’t be a bother. I let you go out with them.”
You turned the doorknob to your house, trying to escape the conversation but Kid Danger would not let you. He shut the door and backed up until your back hit the door. It made you drop the rose out of your hand. “I don’t want them. I want you.”
Kid Danger picked the rose up and handed it to you. “You in or not?”
With his assertiveness, you really didn’t even think you had a choice to back out. “Um…when?”
“Tomorrow. 8. Wear red. You look good in it.”
Before you could say anything, he was already walking about from you. Then you thought of something. You weren’t wearing any red. “How does he know I look good in red?”

Names/Pet names that I KNOW Wade calls Peter
(Actually sweet names. I don’t believe in Wade calling Peter hella mean BUT accurate names of him. Maybe once in awhile but I’m not creative enough to think of it so you guys can think of some!)
Spidey/ My Spider- Its just very weird for him to call Peter ‘Spider-Man’. Like c’mon he’ll admit he’s his man but calling him the full thing gives him ‘That one friend who you always call by his nickname because its weird to say their actual name’ vibes
Baby Boy- We all know this is a fan favorite and common! Well Wade sees Peter as his baby. And it’s basically calling him baby girl but just following his gender ykyk.
Baby/Babe- Hella common among couples. He calls him this when he’s spamming Peter in text or begging Peter on his knees for something he wants and he needs a word to constantly repeat. (BABY BABY BABY BABY PLEASEEEEEE)
Love- Very common but he often only say it in his gentle voice that he only uses with Peter, like reassuring him or they’re having a heart felt moment
Pookie- He thinks it’s incredibly cute whereas Peter is slightly icked. (I’m one of the firm believers that Pookie is weird and I think Peter is the same)
Sweetcheeks/ Sweettums- It’s his version of sweetheart LMAO. And he uses it right after a conversation about Peter’s ass or if he was thinking a lot about it
Angel- Peter was like an angel in his darkness when he first met Peter. Like sure he was killing people and an angel came to stop him, shining a light on a brighter path that he could take alongside the said angel. It’s very rare he calls Peter it but he mostly uses this to make Peter flustered. And it does. He makes Peter immediately pause and stare at Wade blankly, short circuiting the Spider’s brain. Wade took awhile to reactivate the Spider back online but meanwhile, he was carrying the man around like a bag
Baby Boo/ or just Boo- Most of the time, he ends his sexual jokes with Boo. (I would love that ass to sit on my face baby boo) (Wade stop it or I’m hanging you off empire state again)
Cutie- Peter is cute. What other reason does Wade have to call Peter that??
Mi Amor- He uses it as a joke often cause we all know Wade loves to speak Spanish and whenever he uses it, Peter knows he’s in for a sudden Spanish quiz
Any positive word and end it with boy- it’s pretty much a spin the wheel decision in his head. The voices host a variety show type and he spins a wheel on what adjective to use (eg: Sweet boy). He simply calls whatever he’s feeling like calling Peter.
Petey/Petey Pie- When they’re alone and eating their nightly patrol meals type vibe, he often calls him Petey
Peter- Serious talks are when he only calls Peter by his names like he’s apologizing for a mistake or he wants to talk to Peter about something
These are simply what I BELIEVE/THINK/HEADCANON that Wade calls Peter. Please don’t attack me or criticize it. But you guys can add your own ideas. I’d love to see more!

As much as Nevaeh sometimes missed her hometown, the beautiful and incomparable New Orleans, she had long since felt right at home in New York City. The move there had been almost on a whim, a decision made after her LSU graduation once the “far fetched” application she’d sent in to her dream gallery in Brooklyn was returned to her inbox with a link for a Zoom interview. Six weeks later, she was settled into a teeny tiny apartment in Bedstuy and working long hours at the gallery she’d grown to call her second home. However, it was while she was out with her newfound friends that she had spotted a familiar face in the crowd.
Kelvin and her had been good friends in high school, nerdy kids and often the only black ones in the room. They had a love for the arts, though, and often paired off to work on projects. But the shy girl that he’d met in freshman year biology was not the one he’d run into that night at the bar. Now, little Nana had been ... blessed in high school and of course he’d noticed back then, he wasn’t blind but she was always hiding whatever she had going on under uniform, with big ol’ crewnecks or just the polos when the sweltering heat didn’t make sense for the former.
As he’d seen her there that day, head thrown back in laughter, that same pretty smile she’d always had, sitting on that - yeah, he’d have been a fool to not have approached her then and there.
The little reunion had gone better than even he had expected, with the two of them separating from their respective groups to catch up in some corner booth, where they had talked for hours. He told her about the roles he’d gotten and she talked about the exhibits she was helping to curate. Before they had known it, it was closing time and Kelvin, ever the southern gentleman, had offered to walk her home. She had thanked him on her doorstep with a soft kiss to his cheek.
That had been 2017 and they went to date just until January of 2022. In that time, he’d gotten the roles of his lifetime. She’d been promoted to full time co-head curator at the gallery. Their schedules, which used to align perfectly, weren’t even in the same timezone most days. He needed to move to LA for his career’s sake and she surely wasn’t leaving New York because of hers. Though they had started the process of separating at each other’s throats, knowing exactly what buttons to push that only came with being together for half a decade, they’d both seemed to realize that it couldn’t end like that. So he got a little place in Venice Beach, she took over the lease on their shared loft in Brooklyn, and they amicably went their separate ways.
Well, after one more incredible night that plagued Nevaeh’s every thought at that moment while she walked to Bredren, their old favorite Jamaican and soul food fusion spot not that far from the gallery. She tried to focus on the cute memories of them there, having little dates after he picked her up from work and he’d trek from his set in Harlem. That was cute, that was fun, that was appropriate. Thinking of the last time they’d slept together, when he’d made her cum four times in a row and then twice more the next morning before he left ... yeah, that was not very “let’s stay friends” of her, now was it?
Honestly, it had taken her months before she could even look at another picture of Kel, let alone even entertain the thought of being any type of friend to him. But of course, Chevalier had released in 2023 and she figured she needed to face the music, no pun intended. It was when she got through the whole film that she thought, ‘let me text this boy and tell him that shit was phenomenal’.
That had started a chain of sweet, light, and cutesy little exchanges between the both of them through texts and DMs. Swapping funny videos or tweets, him talking to her about filming for Mufasa or Genius, her talking about a new artist she was sourcing from all throughout the country. It felt like they were really friends, for real! That is until, the thirst edits had started popping up on her For You page and she found herself watching a couple of them a few too many times. She never liked or saved any of them, of course, but that didn’t stop her from occasionally typing his name into the little search bar.
Now, as she rounded the corner and saw the back of his head sitting outside of the restaurant, she wanted nothing more than to run up on him and whoop his ass. How dare he bring these feelings back to her?! Matter of fact -
“Ow! What the he - girl, what is wrong with you?” He exclaimed as he turned, drawing the attention of the other patrons, rubbing the back of his head where she’d hit him lightly. God, he was such a drama king. “You ain’t got no couth?”
“Boy, shut up. Spell couth.” Nevaeh dropped her bright pink purse onto the table in front of him and walked over to the entrance, as the outside seating area was blocked off by a little fence.
“C-o-u-t-h, you can’t spell it either.” He rapped once she slid into the seat opposite him, clicking his tongue at her while she rolled her eyes. “Nice purse.”
“Thanks, my annoying ass ex bought it for me.”
His jaw fake-dropped and he placed a hand over his chest. “Annoying ass ex? You sure you didn’t mean handsome, talented, hilariously charming ex?”
“What I say?” She quirked an eyebrow at him and it was now his turn to roll his eyes, her favorite response sounding nice and familiar in his ears. She used to say that shit to him all the time, especially when he wanted to do something he found fun and that she kept saying no to. At the time, it’d been irksome but now, it felt like home. God, he was so fuckin’ corny.
She looked around on the table in front of them and then for the waiter. “Where are the menus?”
“Oh, I ordered already.”
“Little presumptuous, no?”
“No. I know what you’re gonna get.” Kelvin watched as she tilted her head and stuck her tongue to the roof of her mouth, a sign that she was trying to not cuss him out. He hid his smirk behind his glass of water as he took a sip from it.
“What if I changed my order?” She crossed her arms under chest. It was at this moment that he took in her outfit, a black summer dress that came down to her calves and pushed her boobs all the way up. Her wrists held her usual assortment of bracelets, clinking together as she moved. And she’d been wearing heels to match the purse, the pink sandals she knew he loved. Had she gotten dressed for him?
“You didn’t. Jerk chicken and waffles, pepper shrimp & grits on the side, a little plate of mac & cheese, and two beef patties to take home.” He sat back and crossed his arms to match her, even tilting his head too. Ooh, he pissed her off and even more now that he was right. “Plus a ginger beer and some sorrel, also for home. You look nice by the way.”
She didn’t respond at first, still eyeing him up and down. She never remembered to order the sorrel to take home, so he used to do it for her. In the two years since their breakup, every time she ordered from the restaurant, she still forgot. Fuck this nigga.
“Thanks, I was giving a tour to an investor.”
“Investor to help purchase the spot next door?”
“Fingers crossed.” To his credit, Kelvin had always been interested in her work. It was a museum that specifically highlighted pieces by all members of the African diaspora and every year, a new region became the focus. This year was Central African focused, with artists featured from Angola, Congo, Chad and many others. It was only halfway through the year at this point but they were already prepping for next year, when the focus would be on black artists from the Southern United States, of which she was extremely excited to 100% biasedly center folks from NOLA.
“I gotta pop in, see what y’all working with.” He was saying, just as the waiter arrived with their drinks as well as their plates, filled to the brim. He was the brother of the owner and they’d known him for years at that point so it should’ve come as no surprise when, after the plates were set before them, he wiggled his wrinkled finger at them.
“I like to see you two back together. Better this way.” He offered them no chance to respond, walking away briskly as they stared dumbly after him. Once their eyes met again, they both let out a little laugh and shook their heads, digging into the food.
It was quiet for a minute, and then, “You too.” She mumbled, around bites.
“Me too, what?” Kelvin asked, cutting into his oxtail and cornbread.
“You look good too.” Nevaeh smiled, because she knew his face was getting a bit hot even if she couldn’t see the blush. For a Leo, he was always quite shy when it came to her giving him compliments. She liked it though. She liked having that effect on him because he more than had it on her. “How long you in the city for?”
“Couple of weeks. I got a little place in Soho that I’m leasing for a month, just to do some auditions and shit.” He shrugged like it was nothing but to her, it felt like everything. He was going to be that close for a whole month? In the past, when he came to New York, they’d meet up almost by accident but not really. They would attend events knowing (hoping?) that the other would too, never ask, and then act surprised to run into each other at the bar or something. They’d spend damn near the whole night catching each other’s eye from across the room, maybe even attend the after party together, and then have a lot of lingering stares while she waited for her Uber. Because he always waited for her Uber with her. He’d stand damn near in the middle of the street watching it drive away. She never had to look back to know that he was doing it either.
This lunch, as it carried on and they chatted away, was the longest conversation they’d had in nearly two years. She had gotten a cat in his absence, a little black one that she had named Salem and he laughed because he knew she grew up obsessed with Sabrina the Teenage Witch. He talked about meeting Beyoncé, teasing her a little because he knew she was jealous as hell (hello, she’d been in Club Renaissance at MSG!), and showed her pictures he’d semi-creepily taken on his phone, which made her laugh. Which made him laugh. Then they were talking about their parents, their friends, the great movies he still wanted to do, the artists she still wanted to have a piece in the gallery.
It was reaching nearly six pm when they finally looked at the clock on their phones. Three hours they had sat there, like nothing had changed. He excused himself to go to the bathroom and she stared off into the distance, watching a couple walk down the street in each other’s arms and blinking back tears of the memories of them doing the same thing, on the same sidewalk, seemingly forever ago.
“Thanks for paying.” She smirked up at him once he returned. His eyes widened.
“How -”
“That’s what you always used to do, go to the bathroom and pay on your way back to the table, so I wouldn’t even offer.” He looked down at her for a beat and then smiled.
“Of course, both our mommas would beat my ass if I didn’t pay.” Kelvin put his phone into his pocket, grabbed the to-go back with her items in it, and had to shove his other hand into his other pocket to keep from offering it to her. “C’mon, I’ll walk you back.”
She got up from the table and his hand hovered over the small of her back as he led her through the dinner crowd and to the sidewalk. They walked close, feeling the heat from each other’s bodies, her gifted purse held in both hands in front of her to keep from reaching for his too. Their laughter followed them down the streets.
“I got a new painting for above the couch. It looks gorgeous when the sun hits it as it’s setting.” She didn’t have to explicitly invite him up as they approached the door to the familiar building. He just followed her in, entering the elevator and pressing the button, like second nature.
The apartment had not changed much since he had moved out. He’d been so in love with the loft when they’d moved in together, the floor to ceiling windows, the little spare bedroom that had worked as an office for them both, especially during COVID. They would get their work done, cook dinner together and often, sit on the balcony and talk for hours, just as they had done today. Eventually, after they finished eating, Nevaeh would round the table and sit on his lap, so they could watch the sunset together.
Now, he stood in the living room, admiring the gorgeous painting. It was a group black men and women, seemingly in heaven with halos on their heads, walking on the clouds. She’d been right, the sun hit the piece in a way that made the halos shine almost. It damn near brought a tear to his eye. She was standing to his right and that same setting sun gave her her own halo effect. He was suddenly finding it hard to breathe.
She could feel his eyes on her but she was hesitant to turn and look back at him. He was too good at that, looking deep into her eyes and making her weak in the knees. But she almost couldn’t help it, twisting her next so their eyes met. Then he leaned in, his hand coming up to her chin, and their lips connected.
Nevaeh let out a small whimper as the kiss grew. His hands moved to cover the sides of her face and her own landed on his back, her nails lightly digging into his shirt. There was such a sense of familiarity, of knowing how to move their heads and hands and lips. One of his hands slipped down her face and down the front of her throat, fingers ghosting over her cleavage and coming to wrap around her waist. Kelvin felt her shiver at his touch and smiled into the kiss, pulling away for a minute.
“Did you bring me up here to seduce me? Hmm?” He bent at the knees a bit to trail kisses along her jaw and down her neck, taking his time to suck at the skin along the side. She rolled her eyes, at first at his question and then in pleasure. She worked to speak without moaning.
“I barely had to even say or do anything to get you up here, sweetheart. It seems like you wanted to be seduced.” She brought her arms up to wrap them around his neck and sighed contentedly at the work he was doing on her neck.
He chuckled before running both of his hands down to her ass, massaging it for a couple of seconds. Oh, he missed this shit bad. “You are absolutely correct, babe, as per usual. I needed this shit.” Kelvin slipped his hands underneath both cheeks, onto her thighs, and lifted Nevaeh up which elicited a squeal from her. He walked them over to the couch, sitting himself down so she was sitting on his lap and could feel the bulge in his pants. He kept one hand on her ass as he slid the other up her dress, feeling the smooth skin of her thigh and tracing the line of the thong sitting on her hips.
When he brought his hand over to her pelvis, he kept his eyes on her face as he gently felt the wet fabric. Nevaeh’s eyes glazed over and she closed them, moaning while biting her lip. He kept two of his fingers over her covered clit and let her rock her hips against them, the friction sending shockwaves of pleasure up her spine.
“That feel good, baby?” Kelvin asked. She nodded and made a breathy ‘mhm’ sound, beginning to breathe heavily. He did too, matching her and letting his mouth fall open, taking in every minute way her face changed. After another minute, he pushed the fabric to the side and used his thumb rub over her clit while his thick digits slid down her soaked slit to its entrance. There, he slipped them in and her moan this time was music to his ears. She let her head fall back, a hand gripping his shoulder tightly as she grinded down more on his hand, her chest heaving. Kelvin took his eyes off her face to watch her breasts straining against the cups of her dress. His other hand was on her hip now, helping her to rock down on his fingers so he had to make do.
His teeth pulled on one cup and then the other, watching her spill out of the dress and he pulled one of her nipples in his mouth. Sucking, nibbling, on the peak while still using his hands to guide her toward her climax, which he could feel was around the corner at this point. He knew her, knew that her thighs trying to close up on him, her fingers digging into his shoulder, her head tilting slightly to the right - she was minutes, if not seconds, away from cumming on his fingers. He picked up the pace.
“Kelvin, Kel - oh my God, Kel, please!” Nevaeh rolled her hips down, feeling the oh so familiar tightening in her stomach. She hadn’t cum like this in a long time, not without the help of a little toy in her bedside table. She began chanting, “fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck! Don’t stop, please don’t stop, Kelvin!”
“I ain’t stoppin’, don’t worry baby.” He moved his mouth over to her other nipple, using his thumb to alternate between rubbing her clit and pressing down on it. Then, he inserted a third finger into her and he knew he’d done it. She stopped bouncing and dug her nails in so hard he just knew he was gonna have marks in his skin. Her mouth dropped open as she rode out her orgasm, looking him in the eye as he continued to move his hand inside of her.
After she had finished twitching on top of him, he removed his hand from beneath her dress, the loss of contact making her whimper. He sucked his fingers into his mouth and she felt her clit jump. Kelvin carefully pulled her off of him and then stood up, pulling his shirt off while she unzipped her dress and threw on to the other side of the couch, along with her soaked panties.
“Unbuckle my pants, baby.” He commanded and Nevaeh immediately reached up to do as she was told. Once the belt was undone, she popped open the button and unzipped him, his hard member stretching at the fabric of his briefs underneath. “Pull them down, both of ‘em.” And she did, letting his dick jump out of his underwear and hang heavy in front of her face. She could literally feel her mouth watering, for the love of all that is good in this world, this shit was ridiculous.
Taking back a bit of control, she gazed up at him, making direct eye contact as she wrapped her fingers around his thick base and guided him into her mouth. His mouth dropped open again, in pleasure, watching her take him all the way to the back of her throat and then back out again. She repeated this one, two, three times before she began to move faster on him, sucking him loudly like she knew he liked it. He was genuinely surprised his knees hadn’t buckled underneath him, her eyes still on his face as he moaned and groaned, watching his dick become covered in her spit. His hand had come to rest on her head and, eventually, when he felt his balls begin to tighten, he pulled on her ponytail to get her off of him.
“How do you want me, baby?” She asked, breathing heavy as her hand slipped up and down his length. He bit down on his lip before gently pushing her back on the couch, which was low enough to the ground that he could get on one knee and be able to line himself up with her sopping center.
Kelvin held his dick at the base, as she had done, and tapped it against her clit a couple times, listening as she moaned quietly. “You need me baby?” He looked back up at her, watching her bite her lip, nod, and ‘mhm’ again. He shook his head. “Ask me nice.”
“Please, Kel, please fuck me.” She whimpered with no hesitation, bringing her hand to rest on his stomach, tracing the abs there. “Fuck me, baby, you the only one that can make me cum right?”
“Yeah?” His voice was low and gravely as he slid into her, both of them moaning immediately. She had forgotten how much he could fill her up, especially now as he slid in all the way so her clit was touching his pelvis. Her eyes rolled back at the sensation. “None of them other niggas filling you up like this, baby?” Hmm?”
She would’ve answered but he began to rock in and out of her, his hips taking on a rhythm that had her eyes squeezing shut in pleasure. His arm stretched out above her head to get a grip on the back of the couch and Nevaeh wrapped her legs around his hips. Her hands settled on his hips, feeling him push into her over and over again.
His name fell from her lips over and over and over again. He was groaning quietly, muttering about how tight she was, how wet she was, “fuck I missed this shit” and “I still fuckin’ love you baby”.
“I love you too, yes, please, faster.” She answered back and he picked up his pace, letting his arm fall as he pressed his forehead against hers.
“You still love me, baby? Huh?” He pressed a long kiss to her lips, their tongues dancing for a moment before she let out another moan when his fingers reached down to rub her clit once more. “Say it again.”
“Yesss, I love you baby. I love you Kelvin, I love you so much.” There were tears in her eyes, both from pleasure and from whatever emotion he was drawing out of her with his words. This was not how she thought lunch was going to go today.
“I love you too.” He groaned out, kissing his way back down her neck as he began to rub her faster, piston his hips into her with more roughness. “Cum for me, baby, come on.”
She didn’t need much more encouragement, tightening her legs around him as she wailed out during her orgasm. She stars behind her closed eyes, pressing her hands tightly against his back. Kelvin followed soon after, his hips stuttering as he came in her, her name whispered from his lips into her neck.
He still moved inside of her, slowly, until he finally pulled out of her. They both moaned together again and Kelvin rolled over to lay half on the couch as she did, both of their chests heaving as they tried to catch their breaths. He eventually lifted himself up, picking up her still trembling legs and putting them on the couch as he walked over to the bathroom. Nevaeh listened as the water ran and then he walked over with a warm rag, wiping her down gently, something he had done hundreds of times before, just not in a very long time. She got up after he sat down and rushed to the bathroom while he waited for her, smirking at the wet spot on the cushion where they’d both been minutes ago.
“I just got this shit too.” He looked up at her as she sauntered over to him, bending over to pick up his discard shirt and slip it over her head.
“My bad. I’ll get you a new one.” His hand settled on her thigh as she stood between his bare legs, looking down at him with a small smile.
“We should talk about this.” She muttered. Kelvin nodded, standing up as he did so, before picking her up bridal style.
“Oh definitely. We can do exactly that ... over breakfast. Tomorrow.” He carried them toward the stairs leading to the bedroom upstairs. “For now? I got some shit I gotta take care of. Make up for time lost. I’m thinking I gotta make you cum for every month we spent apart?”
Nevaeh’s jaw dropped. “Thirty orgasms, oh my God, are you trying to kill me?”
“Well twenty-eight now.” He laughed and through her shock, she couldn’t help but to laugh too. “What can I say, I missed you baby. I missed you bad.”
