A Prophecy of Doom Upon Syria and Israel
1 The message concerning Damascus. “See, Damascus ceases to be a city, and shall become a heap of ruins.
2 “The cities of Aro‛ĕr are forsaken, they are for flocks which shall lie down, with no one to frighten.
3 “And the stronghold shall cease from Ephrayim, and the reign from Damascus, and the remnant of Aram be as the esteem of the sons of Yisra’ĕl,” declares יהוה of hosts.
4 “And in that day it shall be that the esteem of Ya‛aqoḇ wanes, and the fatness of his flesh grows lean.
5 “And it shall be as when the harvester gathers the grain, and reaps the heads with his arm. And it shall be as he who gathers heads of grain in the Valley of Repha’im.
6 “And gleaning grapes shall be left in it, like the shaking of an olive tree, two or three olives at the top of the uppermost branch, four or five in its most fruit-bearing branches,” declares יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl.
7 In that day man shall look to his Maker, and his eyes turn to the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl.
8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands; and he shall not see that which his own fingers made, nor the Ashĕrim nor the sun-pillars.
9 In that day his strong cities become like a forsaken forest and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Yisra’ĕl. And it shall become a ruin.
10 Because you have forgotten the Elohim of your deliverance, and have not remembered the Rock of your stronghold, therefore you shall plant pleasant plants and set out foreign seedlings,
11 by day make your plant to grow, and in the morning make your seed to flourish – but the harvest is a heap in the day of grief and incurable pain.
12 Woe to the uproar of many people who make a noise like the roar of the seas, and to the rushing of nations that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters –
13 nations rushing like the rushing of many waters. But He shall rebuke them and they shall flee far away, and be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, like whirling dust before the whirlwind.
14 At eventide, look! Alarm! Before morning, it is no more. This is the portion of those who plunder us, and the lot of those who rob us. — Isaiah 17 | The Scriptures 1998 (ISR 1998) The Scriptures 1998 Copyright © 1998 Institute for Scripture Research. Lesson 050: The Unforgiven
Genesis 50:15-17 - When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all the evil which we did to him.”  So they sent messengers to Joseph, saying, “Before your father died he commanded, saying, ‘Thus you shall say to Joseph: “I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.” ’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
Why did Joseph’s brothers tell such a story to Joseph after their father died?  Weren’t they all at peace with each other at this point?
Let’s read together Genesis 27:41-42 and Genesis 42:21-22.
Joseph’s brothers were still wracked with guilt for how they treated Joseph, selling him into slavery, and lying to their father about everything.  They were afraid Joseph was only being kind to them for the sake of their father.  Now that Jacob was dead, they were afraid Joseph would finally take revenge upon them.
Why did Joseph weep when he heard their story?
Let’s read together Genesis 45:3-8 and John 11:25, 32-37.
Perhaps Joseph cried because he realized his brothers still didn’t think of him as one of them.  Perhaps Joseph cried because their story brought back memories of past trauma.  Perhaps he cried because he had already forgiven them, but they did not believe his words.
Let’s read together Genesis 50:18-21; Matthew 6:15; Matthew 18:35; Mark 11:25; and Romans 3:23.
Joseph did not want servants - he wanted brothers and family.  Joseph once again freely forgave his brothers.  He reassured them he would not retaliate against them for the wrongs they had committed against him in the past.
Why does God ask us to forgive those who sinned against us?  We all have sinned against God, yet He is willing to forgive us when we confess our sins and repent.  In the same way, we must follow Jesus Christ’s example in forgiveness.

1 Kings 17:2-7 (NASB). “The word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.” So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook. It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.”
Isaiah 55:8 (NASB). “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD.”
“God’s Ways: Ordinary or Miraculous?” By In Touch Ministries:
“The Lord is always working for our good, but not always in ways we understand.”
“In Isaiah 55, God declares, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways” (Isaiah 55:8). In fact, that’s one of the biggest frustrations of the Christian life—a lack of understanding about God’s ways. There are times when we could really use a miracle, and He doesn’t come through for us, which can lead to confusion, disappointment, and anger. Why did God let me down?
God works in both supernatural and ordinary ways, and He determines the method. For example, in today’s passage, Elijah ate food miraculously delivered by ravens, but his water supply from a brook was completely natural. When it dried up, the Lord could have made more water spring from the ground, but He didn’t.
Sometimes God uses ordinary means to move us in a new direction. The curtailment of his water supply opened the door for Elijah’s next assignment. When the Lord withholds miraculous intervention and lets your brook dry up, then He has something else planned for you.
The work of God in the commonplace aspects of life is just as miraculous as His supernatural intervention. Look for His “fingerprint” in the day’s mundane activities. He is there, opening and closing doors, drying up one opportunity but initiating another.”

God looks on the heart is often used as a comforting verse and there is much truth to that but let us remember that if we harbor evil in our heart God will judge that.
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Matthew 5:28
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
1 John 3:15
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isaiah 14:13
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7
I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Jeremiah 17:10

Revelation 16: The Seventh Bowl, A Preterist Take, and a Spiritual Take
Is it possible this prophecy already been fulfilled, some 2,000 years ago? And, by the same token, is it possible the vision of all these warnings and calamities caries a timeless spiritual message? #Revelation16 #SeventhBowl
Then, the seventh poured out his ceremonial bowl upon the atmosphere, and a might voice came out of the innermost part of the temple, from the throne saying, “It has come to be!” Then a lightning bolt appeared and voices and thunders, and there came massive seismic activity the like which had never before occurred since humanity came to be upon the earth, seismic activity with such magnitude, so…
