This movie has made many, many changes to the characters of the play, but they work well with the chosen backdrop of Mumbai's underworld. These two give a life to each other's presence that is sooo Lord and Lady Macbeth that it pulls off the motive of the murder being their chance to be together rather than just ambition for the "throne".

It stars Deepika Padukone as the titular protagonist, Amitabh Bachchan, and Irrfan, with Moushumi Chatterjee and Jisshu Sengupta portraying supporting roles. It tells the story of the short-tempered Piku Banerjee (Padukone), her grumpy, aging father Bhashkor (Bachchan) and Rana Chaudhary (Khan), who is stuck between the father-daughter duo, as they embark on a journey from Delhi to Kolkata. The story and screenplay was written by Juhi Chaturvedi. Piku was released on 8 May 2015. It garnered widespread critical acclaim upon release. Critics praised the screenplay, performances, humor and overall simplicity. It also emerged as a commercial success worldwide.
