foggy
summary: "Perhaps most tantalizing of all were his glasses–their lenses were lightly fogged, but you could still almost see his wide eyes behind them." rating: explicit (18+ mdni) pairing: bob floyd x f!reader word count: ~2.9k warnings: idiots pining, car sex (lol), hangman being hangman, no use of y/n. notes: Inspired by me thinking about Bob's glasses getting all fogged up. y'all i wish i could apologize for this but all i can think abt is this man and how someone once said they wanna chew on him like a polly pocket.. anyways please let me know what you think ! no beta we die like men tagging: @sebsxphia @theharddeck - tagging ppl either by request or whom i feel like luv bob soooo pls let me know if you'd like to be added/removed
You were usually far more behaved than this, really. You paid attention in your classes, did your work, showed up on time to your job–kept it all together. But there was something about him, about Bob, that just made that tiny part of you want to be reckless. And he had no idea.
There he was, along with the rest of the group like every Friday, sitting and watching them play pool. They’d hoot and holler, order drink after drink, and he’d sit and laugh along with his peanuts and his Shirley Temples or lemonades. And it made you want to jump his bones.
It was a smidge ironic that as a bartender his non-alcoholic drink choices were part of what got you going, but what could you say? A man of multitudes and contradictions was appealing, and Bob was just that. Best weapons system operator around, shy as all hell, and damn smart. He always tipped generously, never put his phone on the bar, and had interrupted more than one creep on a mission to try and ruin your Friday night (flirting is for tips, not for keeps!).
But any time you tried to move it past your brief interactions, he always slipped away. You figured it wasn’t necessarily on purpose— he seemed to be friendly otherwise, just probably not interested. So you resigned yourself to the occasional small chat when making drinks or he came in while the Hard Deck was a bit less noisy—and ever so often, finishing while imagining just what it would feel like to have his body pressed up against yours.
And this Friday began like every other. You came in right as lunch ended, and busied yourself with prepping more limes than you ever wanted to see again in your life. There were glasses to be stacked, napkins and straws to be refilled, and liquors to be restocked. Patrons would start trickling in around 5 or 6, with the majority starting to filter in around 8, clearly coming from dinner or work. By 9, the Hard Deck would be packed to the brim with fighter pilots and other people from the nearby base.
Your favorite fighter pilots would make it in at 8:45 pm every Friday, like clockwork. They’d take over the pool table with a direct eyeline to the bar, and stay till the early hours of the morning, sometimes till closing. Rooster usually bought the first round if the weather was nice, Hangman would when the weather was shit. More than once you’d tried to discern a pattern beyond that, but they seemed to have some sort of system.
Bob would always buy his own drinks.
He’d make his way to the bar, smiling gently at you and waiting patiently while you fielded other customers. Then he’d place his drink order and ask for a refill on his cup of peanuts, and stand there humming something to himself while you poured him a drink. Tips came in cash, straight into your palms and always paired with a soft smile that made your knees weak and your pulse hammer.
Tonight was no different. He ordered his lemonade and handed you cash with a warm smile before returning to what appeared to be an increasingly hostile and heated game of pool. Sitting on the sidelines, he seemed to just be content observing the madness.
When Hangman approached the bar during a momentary lull, you expected it to be for another round. Except he leaned over the counter conspiratorially, and crooked a finger at you to beckon you closer.
“I have a secret to tell you, only it’s not really a secret.” He had a coy smile on his face like he was about to tell you he’d taken a cookie from the cookie jar.
You really wanted to roll your eyes at him, but you had to admit sometimes Hangman was entertaining and you figured your shift would at least be somewhat more lively with his antics. So you just shifted closer to him while maintaining an eye on the bar in case someone needed anything.
“Do tell.”
He pointed a finger back towards the game of pool just as Rooster sunk a shot and Phoenix high-fived him, “You see Bob over there?”
You narrowed your eyes. You definitely didn’t like where this was going. While Hangman was all huge ego on the outside, you knew he wasn’t really like that on the inside, so it made you suspicious that he was deciding to pick on Bob. Usually it was all in good fun, but you had a soft spot for Bob and you really didn’t want to be caught up in any hurtful gossip.
“Play nice in my bar, Bagman.” You said, scrubbing a bit more aggressively at the countertop than you meant to.
“Hey! I’ll have you know I’m playing very nice, I’m being a wingman instead of Hangman tonight.” Wingman? “Bob over there, has a very big and bad crush on a certain someone.”
You hoped this was some sort of prank, because Hangman had one perfectly manicured finger pointing at you. You felt your face go bright red.
“That’s not playing nice.” God, why was this happening?
It was one thing to harbor your little crush on Bob, to let yourself check him out while you were sure he wasn’t looking, it was another to have Hangman mock you by telling you that Bob liked you back.
“He really thinks he’s being subtle,” Hangman continued as if he hadn’t heard you speak, “But he refuses to let us buy his drinks whenever we’re buying a round just so he can talk to you. I swear he spends more time up here or staring at you than he does hanging out with us.”
Saved by a customer, you let your attention drift away from Hangman and what he’d said to you. Even though he lingered, leaning on the bar, you tried not to focus on him.
What did he mean Bob had a crush on you? That couldn’t be possible. A few weeks prior you had almost asked Bob out to dinner after not charging him for his drink, hoping that that would be enough to start a bit of flirting.
Instead the WSO had placed enough cash to cover his drink and a very generous tip on the bar and stammered out something about needing to get back to the game of pool him and Rooster were losing. So you took that as your hint.
Ever a patient asshole, Hangman was still there after you finished making drinks. Clearly being decently drunk wasn’t enough to keep him from being a pain. He just kept looking between you and Bob and not saying anything.
“You’re scaring other customers.” You wanted this to end, the observation, you wanted to get out from under his knowing gaze.
He flicked a cherry stem at you, and without flinching proceeded to make you feel like you were officially the world’s least subtle person, “It’s not hard to see that you and Bob wanna jump each other’s bones, I think once you get it out of your system you’ll be perfect for each other. Just have to get over that first hurdle.”
And with that, Hangman walked himself back over to the rest of the group. You stood there in stunned silence trying to process exactly what just happened.
-
Like you said before, you were usually far more behaved than this. But nevertheless, you now found yourself pressed up against your car in the corner of the Hard Deck’s parking lot, Bob’s lips on yours and his hands on your waist.
Anyone could see. Hangman or Rooster could step out for a breath of fresh air, maybe even a drunk cigarette (no one was allowed to tell Mav), and see you pulling Bob’s shirt out of his standard-issue khakis and running your hands over his stomach. You had always known he was hiding some serious muscle under his uniform. Someone could see you, weak in the knees for the quiet, but beautiful, Bob.
“Jesus Christ,” he said quietly against your lips as you scratched at his back and trembled in his arms. “We shouldn’t–shouldn’t be doing this out in the open. You deserve better.”
Was it wrong that him being so respectful made you want him to ruin you all that more? What you wouldn’t give to be in your, or his, apartment right now, protected by four walls and free to strip and see all of him. But for now, you’d have to take the cards you were dealt.
Grasping behind yourself, you yanked the back door handle against yourself, feeling the door give against you and open slightly. You pushed Bob off you gently, just enough to pull the door open and grab his collar to pull him into the car with you. He made a choked off sound, and you honestly weren’t sure if it was because of you grabbing his shirt or if he was surprised.
“Wait,” He managed, and you froze, “I... Will you sit in my lap?”
You were going to die, here and now, with him almost hovering over you, his eyes wide and pleading. For a moment, time seemed to turn into something syrupy as he slid fully into the car, shut the door, and pulled you into his lap.
You both sat there for just a moment, panting and staring at each other. Maybe you owed Hangman an apology for doubting his wingman skills, but you weren’t sure you wanted to inflate his ego more than it already was.
However, he did deserve some credit. After he had dropped that bomb on you, Bob had come over and asked if you were alright, claiming he’d give Hangman a talking-to about whatever he said that had clearly upset you. You just stood there staring at him, until he started to squirm slightly under your gaze.
It was in that moment you had blurted out, “I have a crush on you.”
He had stared at you for a split second before he whispered, so quietly you weren’t even sure you were supposed to hear it, “Oh my god, I want to kiss you so badly.”
It had taken everything in you not to drag him across the bar and press your lips into his. Instead, you managed to tell him that you had your thirty minute break in five minutes, and to meet you in the parking lot by your car. It was probably the most reckless thing you had ever done.
So that was how you ended up in the backseat of your car, Bob’s tongue running along the seam of your lips, whining slightly when you opened your mouth to feel his tongue glide over your teeth. You could tell he had his feet firmly planted on the floor by the steady rhythm of his hips against yours. That part of his actions seemed so confident, so assured in comparison to the slight tremor in his hands against your hips, but you wanted him to let loose a little, show you just how much he wanted you.
The car rocked gently with your movements. He was panting as his forehead leaned against yours, and he let out a particularly high pitched whine as you grabbed him by the back of the neck to force your lips together again.
“Been thinking about this, about you,” he ground out as you both pulled away again to catch your breaths, “See you every Friday and Hangman, ah, Hangman makes fun of me.”
You groaned at his confession and twisted your hands into his neatly combed hair. Honestly, you couldn’t judge his hesitancy, for god’s sake you thought he barely liked you as a friend. Plus, you’d firmly asked more than one patron to leave when they tried to be too forward. Bob was never too forward.
“Been, fuck! Been, trying to be a gentleman.”
You didn’t want him to be a gentleman, you wanted him to ruin you. Grabbing his wrists, you shoved them under your shirt and sighed as he got the message, rubbing your nipples over your bra.
“F-Fuck,” you gasped, rolling your hips against his more firmly.
“You’re so beautiful,” He whispered as his lips marked a path down your neck, mouthing at your collarbone as he tugged the collar of your shirt to the side.
“Bob...” You could feel the heat in your stomach building, the familiar tingle in your fingers.
“I know, sweetheart, I know,” With one hand on your stomach rubbing soothing circles, and the other dipping into your bra, the flood of physical sensations was almost too much.
You moaned into his mouth and shuddered against his grip, raking your hands through his hair and feeling just how much he liked the sensation of your nails scraping against his scalp when the rhythm of his hips stuttered.
When you came it felt like a star bursting in your chest, everything went fuzzy around the edges as he rocked you in his lap and you rode out your orgasm. It felt like Christmas morning, your birthday, and every party all rolled into one. You shuddered as he kept your hips moving against his, clearly close.
But you would have none of that.
Still trembling from your own release you unbuttoned his khakis with shaking hands and reached in to grasp him. He stared down at your through lightly fogged up glasses, clearly shocked.
“Fuck, wait, are you sure—!” Was all he managed to get out before you were on your knees, doing your damndest to swallow him down.
He came with a choked shout, one hand on the back of your head and the other clawing at the worn leather of your seats, grasping for something, anything to keep him tethered. For a moment you stayed on your knees, reveling in the feeling of what had just happened.
He was a fucking vision from this angle. His usually perfectly done haired was wild from you running your hands through it, his khakis were haphazardly open and his softening cock was laying against his stomach where you had rucked his shirt up. Breathing wild, his chest rose and fell quickly, and his fingers resting on the seat twitched in a matching rhythm to the ones in your hair.
Perhaps most tantalizing of all were his glasses–their lenses were fogged up, but you could still almost see his wide eyes behind them.
You wished you had a camera to capture the moment.
The moment was broken when Bob reached down to pull you back into his lap and move his lips softly against yours. It took you a moment to register that he was whispering sweet nothings to you–a combination of thank you, and all sorts of compliments that made your chest ache.
A sudden alarm sound made both of you turn in opposite directions at the same time, smacking your foreheads together. Suddenly any sexual tension had completely dissipated, replaced by both of you melting into laughter. Leave it to you and Bob to top off humping in your car like teenagers by giving each other concussions.
“I need to get back to work.” You whispered as he inspected your forehead for any lasting injuries, “That was my alarm.”
He pressed his lips to yours softly, as if he was savoring your final moments together. “Can I take you out to dinner tomorrow? Do this part right?”
“I’d love that.”
-
You almost made it to closing without anyone noticing that you and Bob had both conveniently been gone for most of your meal break. But the crew crowding the pool table was far too observant for their own good. To his credit, Bob got himself almost fully back to his normal appearance, and you slipped into the bathroom to make sure you were presentable again.
“You should say thank you to people who do nice things for you,” Hangman was back, toothpick hanging loosely from his mouth as he turned a sly grin in your direction, “I’ll take a beer in compensation, though.”
Pretending not to know what he could possibly mean, you continued to clean up. “Making sure all your cups are on the bar by closing is not exactly free beer material.”
He scoffed and stole another garnish, “You might think you’re slick but Bob’s been staring at you uninterrupted since you got back from your little break.”
“According to you he stares at me regardless.” Sorry, Bob.
“Yeah, but now he stares at you all mopey, which means you must’ve gotten the other stuff out of your system–”
You threw a piece of ice, the universe granting you with perfect aim for once, and watched as it hit his collarbone and slid down his shirt. He jerked backwards with a hiss.
“Okay! Just take your beer and shut up.” Why did he have to be like this?
“Why thank you sweetheart, consider your debt settled.” With a wink, he was gone.
If you were honest with yourself, you probably would give Hangman a thousand free beers just to see Bob in the backseat, glasses foggy, and staring at you like you hung the moon. But he didn’t have to know that.

The only reason y'all are getting this, is because it's 1am and I can't sleep. So enjoy
———
It was only about halfway through your long shift at work. And it wasn't helping that it was a slow night. Your manager had pulled out all the random jobs like cleaning the most random shit. Ahhhhh hospitality.
You were a waitress at little restaurant in manhattan, and it actually wasn't half bad. It was a nice restaurant, open until late at night because it doubled as a diner too. You had gotten the job after starting college to try and save all you could (gotta love that student life). After about a year here, you'd gotten the hang of it and enjoyed the people you worked with. The only downside was the dickhead customers. But most of the time you were pretty blessed with a decent clientele.
As you scrubbed the coffee pots you heard a group of people loudly push their way into the diner. You scowled your face; ironically, seeing as though you had been begging for customers the past 30 minutes. You turned around and saw them take a seat in the booth. After putting down the coffee pot you decided to head over with your notepad in hand and greet them.
"Hi guys, can I get you started with anything?". You hadn't realised but they were actually a really cute group of people, especially this one not sitting closest to you on the left. You glanced at him, but was shook out of your trance by the girl in the far right corner saying something. "Could I have a Diet Coke please and I'll grab some fries to share as well", she smiled at me and seemed really friendly, she was also stunning (guess who).
They all proceeded to order, and I headed back to the kitchen so our cook could start on the food, I then began in their drinks up at the bar. As I was making the drinks the cute boy came up to the counter and sat at the bar. "Hey" "Heyyy" I said a little confused. "My names Jack", oh my days he wants to talk to me. "Im y/n" I said a little unsure. "That's a really pretty name" he said, and I we bright red. Why am I so nervous right now. Get it together bitch. I turned around so he couldn't see my face, continuing to make their drinks. "Here's your drink. But don't you wanna sit with your friends?", I said after gathering them all on a tray ready to head over.
"To be honest, I love those guys but I've just spent like the last 48 hours with the same people and I'm looking to talk to literally anyone else" he laughed. That was kind of backhanded but I'll let it slide. "Why have you been with the same people", he looked back at his friends; them subtly looking at his conversation with me. "Ok so like. I'm kind of an actor" he said almost cringing at it "and I've been doing a press tour all week. That's why we're here in the city." He paused like he was contemplating something, then he added "ok I know that probably sounds fake or like I'm an egotistical asshole but I literally promise I'm not lying". I laughed "I never said you were. But show me some evidence of this" I said half joking.
He pulled out his phone and showed me his instagram, along with all the promo stuff for Avatar: the way of water. Oh shit
"Oh so your like famous famous" I said, legitimately shocked. "Well technically I'm not really that famous, just in a famous film. But all these guys are in it too" he pointed to his friends.
We walked over to the table, drinks tray in hand. As I handed them their drinks Jack introduced me to them all "this is Bailey, Trinity and Jamie". They all said hi and I excused myself back to my work, because one: I was kind of needing to fangirl in peace and two: I didn't wanna weirdly linger.
After about 20 minutes they were done with their food and drinks and they all started to head out. But Jack came up to the counter.
"Here. And it was really nice to meet you" he winked. He slided me a napkin folded in half. He then walked out with his friends and I waved goodbye. After the left I opened the napkin and it read "your really chill. I like you. Hope this can help you out a bit" inside the fold of the napkin was like a few hundred dollars. You were so suprised but felt kind of bad for some reason. You ran out of the diner and looked around to see if he was still there.
You spotted him not far down the road, so ran up to him. "Hey what's this for?" A genuine reaction. He turned around, his friends just behind him. "I saw the NYU badge on your bag and figured your a college student, you offered really good service and a really good conversation. Plus I just did a billion dollar movie. So please just let me tip a little more than usual." He said with a kind smile on his face.
"You know I should be offended by this. Honestly I can't accept it." He looked around smirking a bit. "Ok what if, as an apology, I took you out in a date". Ok what
You were so taken aback you just stood there wide eyed and mouth open. "Ok here's my number. Are you free tomorrow night? I'm gonna take you to dinner" he said pulling another napkin out his pocket and handing it to you. "I was gonna give it to you before but chickened out" he said laughing. You still stood there flabbergasted looking like an idiot. "Ok well I'll call you later or you can call me if you prefer" he said "I- uh yeah sure" you spectacularly added.
He turned and walked away, giving you a quick glance before fully walking away. You shuffled back inside trying to comprehend what just happened.
Hehe he likes me you thought to yourself

DO I TELL OR DO YOU TELL?
I asked GPT Chat what the table should look like for a romantic dinner.
“Tell me one thing, if I want to have a romantic dinner, what should I put on the table?”
Answer:
To create a romantic dinner, you can consider the following table elements:
1. **Elegant tablecloth**: Choose a tablecloth in a soft color or with a pretty pattern.
2. **Candles**: Use candles of different heights to create soft, cozy lighting.
3. **Flower arrangement**: A small vase of fresh flowers can add a special touch.
4. **Plates and cutlery**: Use your best china and cutlery, preferably in a style that matches the occasion.
5. **Wine glasses**: Include pretty glasses for wine or sparkling wine.
6. **Napkins**: Use cloth napkins, folded in a creative way.
7. **Themed decorations**: Small details, such as hearts or elements that have meaning to you, can add a personal touch.
8. **Soft music**: Prepare a playlist of romantic songs to play during dinner. 9. **Special Menu**: Plan a menu with dishes that you both enjoy, including a delicious dessert.
10. **Lighting**: If possible, adjust the lighting so that it is soft and cozy.
With these details, you will create a romantic and cozy atmosphere for dinner!”
I went further and asked what a table for a business/work dinner should look like, and here is the answer:
“For a professional dinner, here are some essential tableware items:
1. **Tablecloth**: Use a clean, well-ironed tablecloth in neutral or sober colors.
2. **Plates and cutlery**: Use good-quality china and cutlery appropriate for the type of meal.
3. **Glasses**: Include appropriate glasses for water and wine, arranged in an orderly fashion.
4. **Napkins**: Opt for cloth napkins, folded in a classic style.
5. **Centerpiece**: A discreet floral arrangement or an elegant decorative object that won't get in the way of conversation.
6. **Lighting**: Make sure the lighting is adequate, soft but enough to see the dishes well.
7. **Printed menu**: If it's a formal dinner, a printed menu can add a professional touch.
8. **Place tags**: If there are a lot of guests, consider using place tags to indicate where each person should sit. 9. **Understated decor**: Avoid items that are too personal or that could distract guests.
10. **Background music**: Soft music can create a welcoming atmosphere without being intrusive.
These details help create a professional and welcoming atmosphere for the dinner.”
We see some differences between romantic dinners and business dinners... right. But I asked about what to put on the table for a dinner with friends. The answer:
For a dinner with friends, you can opt for a more relaxed and welcoming style. Here are some suggestions:
1. **Casual tablecloth**: Use a simple tablecloth or even a table without a tablecloth, depending on the setting.
2. **Plates and silverware**: Choose plates and silverware that are practical and easy to use.
3. **Assorted glasses**: Use different styles of glasses for water and drinks, giving it a casual touch.
4. **Napkins**: Use colorful or fun paper or cloth napkins.
5. **Relaxed centerpiece**: A simple flower arrangement or even a platter of appetizers can work well.
6. **Appetizers**: Include a cheese board, olives, or other appetizers that friends can share.
7. **Buffet-style main course**: For a more informal dinner, serve the main course buffet-style, where everyone can help themselves. 8. **Fun decor**: Add elements that reflect your group’s personality, like photos or themed items.
9. **Games or entertainment**: Have board games or cards available for some after-dinner fun.
10. **Cozy lighting**: Use soft lights, like lanterns or fairy lights, to create a cozy ambiance.
These details make for a more friendly and relaxed experience, perfect for a dinner party with friends!

PSA: LONG RANT ABOUT CHAIN OF IRON WEDDING ALASTAIR THOMAS CORDELIA MATTHEW SCENE
“Tom,” he said carefully. “If I could talk to you for a moment.”
Thomas stood up, almost knocking over the table. Cordelia looked at him in astonishment.
“I told you before that if you spoke to me again, I would throw you into the Thames,” said Thomas. His normally open, friendly face was twisted into an expression of fury. “You might at least have chosen a warmer day to take your plunge.”
“Stop,” Cordelia threw down her napkin. “Alastair is my brother, and I love him. And this is my wedding day. No one will be throwing my family members into the Thames.”
“Honestly, Thomas,” said Lucie, looking at her friend with disappointment. Thomas clenched his fists at his sides.
“Now,” said Cordelia. “Will someone tell me what this is all about?”
“This is- unbearable,” he said. “It is not to be endured.”
“It is what you deserve”- Matthew
ONCE AGAIN AN INAPPROPRIATE POV
literally we only get a semi right pov about their whole issues and it seems to be cut short. we never get to see Alastair’s thoughts and emotions and how HE FEELS. it’s either in lucie or Cordelia’s pov.
1. it has to take a lot of nerve and strength for Alastair to face Thomas knowing that Thomas is angry with him
2. Thomas has every reason to be upset and I don’t really like Lucie acting disappointed but I also don’t like how they can’t have a simple fucking moment alone to talk
does Thomas seriously have to be arrested for them to finally talk?
3. I don’t like how desperate Cordelia is to stay in the aura of the merry thieves and instead of protecting her brother more
4. why doesn’t Cordelia ever think about Alastair’s feelings instead of how James feels?
5. let Thomas be upset but do it in a private setting
6. THIS IS ONLY CONCERNING THOMASTAIR SO LET THEM PROCESS ALONE and
7. Alastair is allowed to feel hurt AND guilty for his last behavior
oh it’s her wedding so y’all can have it out tomorrow. Thomas does have every reason to feel upset and hurt- and I also don’t like that Matthew was the one to tell him. it felt more vindictive on matthews part. he’s jealous that Thomas and Alastair are friendly or he takes joy in hurting Alastair which just ended up hurting Thomas. well I do agree with Thomas deserving to know, it shouldn’t have come from Matthew (also Mathew has every reason to be hurt but I don’t like the way it’s being formed)
Thomas is a naturally calm person so the fact that he is having a rough time being around Alastair, unable to look at him, and saying remarks about throwing Alastair into the Thames should be sending off warning signs to everyone. THOMAS IS HURT
thomastair deserved to have a moment without everyone listening in to their problems. this is about Thomas, not Lucie Cordelia James Matthew. as it does involve Matthew a little, this is the hurt THOMAS FEELS. like what is up with lgbtq+ couples in these books having a fight and there’s always a straight person having that pov where it doesn’t involve them? it has nothing to do with Cordelia (still not over how book malec fights and it’s in simons pov and he has the audacity to call them dramatic or something as if they’re only drama)
also ALASTAIR IS HURT AND FEELS GUILTY. it’s okay and valid for him to feel upset that Thomas isn’t ready to talk to him and for him to feel guilt for his past self. it’s also okay if he feels he had no choice to be a bully and also regret the way things were handled. it doesn’t justify Alastair’s behavior but if he felt then that he had no choice but to fit in with the mean boys so they wouldn’t be racist pigs to him then that is Alastair’s decision alone. it’s okay to feel as though you want to explain your behavior without justifying it. but it does absolutely nothing if we don’t get to see or experience that.
Thomas doesn’t have to talk to him but he also shouldn’t have to endure everyone at that wedding just to attempt to reconcile with Thomas.
and I don’t like Lucie almost dismissing Thomas’s anger. he shouldn’t throw Alastair into the Thames (even if it is a Lightwood trait- cough cough Gabriel) but he’s allowed to feel hurt by the words Alastair repeated about his father that he never spoke of, especially as he started to catch feelings for Alastair. Thomas is probably the only person to see the good of Alastair no matter what
I also feel that Cordelia is so obsessed with staying on the good side or in the circle of the merry thieves. I hardly ever see her support Alastair or have his back more. she says “he’s my brother and I love him” and that’s it? THIS MAN SACRIFICED HIS CHILDHOOD AND HAPPINESS JUST TO MAKE SURE YOU DIDNT SUFFER THE SAME FATE. the childhood part was taken away from him but he always supported Cordelia no matter what
I wanted Alastair to tell Thomas about his past
I wanted Alastair to tell Cordelia about his experience at the academy
like why are the wrong people having the pov or telling someone else things they shouldn’t?????
also to end this, it bothers me how Matthew is saying it’s the least you deserve as if everything is Alastair’s fault. Alastair didn’t make Matthew buy that potion. what Alastair said was wrong and hurtful but he didn’t force Matthew to buy a potion, trust downworlder products (especially from downworlders who hate shadowhunters for good reason- even though that’s not matthews fault) that would have killed an unborn sibling
it does irritate me how Matthew puts all this blame on Alastair as if everything is Alastair’s fault. I can’t remember if he ever made racist remarks towards Alastair but if I remember correctly, I think he does. I’ve never seen Alastair be rude to James or Matthew for no reason. he sees either a drunk (no offense to Matthew) or a man obsessed with another woman (no offense James) vying for his sister. his protective instincts are obviously out. Alastair spent his whole life protecting Cordelia. a woman’s reputation then meant everything. I saw James and Matthew being rude for the fun of it to Alastair but I never saw Alastair throwing the first blow. it’s as though they wanted Alastair to feel terrible all his life. they’re not perfect either but they treat Alastair as the worst villain they’ve laid eyes on
if you want us to think Alastair is so terrible, SHOW IT. it doesn’t pay off if it’s in another book and doesn’t line up to this book. James and Matthew do have reason to be upset with Alastair but instead of the remarks they make, fix why they’re upset instead of constantly antagonizing Alastair. Alastair by no means is perfect. he does say some stuff against Matthew and James (TLH) but I never see it as underhanded as what is done to him
but also it’s been a while since I read this and I’m just going by the pages I marked that I can’t remember if I talked about yet
but it makes absolute no sense to say hey Alastair was such a bastard to us and then not show us in this series
it seems a wasted shame we didn’t get any Alastair or Matthew growth or that this isn’t in Thomas’s pov or really any thomastair content in their pov that much
I very much would have preferred for Alastair to attempt to talk to Thomas in a quieter setting alone and possibly have a fight than what was written here. I don’t care about Cordelia or her thoughts. I care about thomastair and how THEY FEEL
STOP WITH THE INAPPROPRIATE POVS
#anti cassandra clare#anti cc#just my stupid opinions#thomas lightwood#alastair carstairs#thomastair#thomastair deserved better#imagine the thomastair content#a little anti Matthew and Lucie but mostly frustration#let Thomas be mad but don’t do it in this setting#Cordelia doesn’t care much for Alastair sorry#anti cordelia carstairs

tti episode 5
“Last time on Total Takes Island! A friendly contest compiled our funniest- I mean, most gifted- contestants in a battle of the talents. It had a little bit of everything- barf, sabotage, and an impressively academic win from Scruffy for the Inane Anons. In the end, it was Patrick who took the walk of shame, but not without threatening a few people first. Who will earn Chef’s approval today? And who will go home? Find out now- on Total! Takes! Island!”
“WHERE ARE THEY?” Julia screams, throwing out a variety of her cabinmate’s belongings. “WHERE. THE HELL. ARE THEY?”
Kelly and Michael gaze the piles and piles of clothes, mementos, and summer camp staples (sunscreen and bug spray, mostly) lying on the steps of their cabin as they walk back from the mess hall together, and they give each other a concerned look.
Julia throws out Kelly’s straightening iron and both duck to avoid it, though it whacks McLovin in the head behind them. He falls to the ground with a faint thump and Kelly and Michael turn back to the cabin.
“WHICH ONE OF YOU-” Julia throws open the screen door on the cabin and steps out, pointing an accusing finger. Both take a step back as if she’s about to lunge for them, then they notice something seems- off about her. “WHO TOOK MY GLASSES?”
---
JULIA: “Before coming to the island, I pushed up my annual optometrist appointment to get my new prescription before coming here. Yeah, I watched Island- I know that Leshawna’s vision correction was not up to date- I saw her squinting! I’m not making that same mistake.
---
“Woah, no one took your glasses,” Michael says, holding out her hands and waving them down in a “calm down, for the love of God” motion. “They probably just got lost in the cabin.”
“I’ve been looking for hours!” Julia yells. She can recognize Michael by her voice and the vague blob of dark green and navy blue standing next to a blur of white-gold that must’ve been Kelly.
“We’ve only been gone for like, twenty minutes. Here, I’ll help you,” Michael gives Kelly a shrug, indicating that she’s got this, and walks into the cabin. “Where’s the last place you remember seeing them?”
“Next to my pillow in their case, where I always put them before sleeping. When I woke up, they were gone!” Julia jabs a finger in the direction of her bed. Michael puts on a smile and reassuringly pats her shoulder.
“They probably just fell behind the bunk. I’ll look,”
Julia rolls her eyes and grumbles, crossing her arms over her chest. She’s still clad in pajamas, having ignored everything as soon as she noticed they were gone.
Michael gets on all fours and crouches down, lifting up the bottom bunk’s blanket and staring into the abyss. Scary is hunched in the darkness under the bed, eyes reflecting in the morning light like a cat’s. Michael is silent for a few moments before clearing her throat.
“Have you… um, have you seen Julia’s glasses case, by any chance?”
“In order to pass to get your need, you must answer my riddles three!”
“Aw, what? Oh- nevermind,” Michael says, reaching to the inner corner and coming back out from under the bed, covered in dust bunnies and holding a dark blue glasses case.
Julia’s face lights up. “Oh, thank you! Thank you! Are they okay? Are they hurt?”
Michael opens the case and peers inside. “They’re… not in here,”
“WHAT?!”
---
Courtney relaxes as they sit at their usual corner of the table, McLovin shielding them from the rest of the team as he absent-mindedly holds a grimy ice pack to his jaw.
“I have a good feeling about today,” Courtney smiles, subconsciously folding their napkin into an origami crane. “If I remember correctly, this challenge will be easy enough for us to win, even if Mal tries to throw it.”
McLovin blinks. “Why do we think Mal is sabotaging the team, again?”
Courtney holds a finger to their lips to hush him, and then looks around the table. Mal and Ass are sitting on the other side, making each other friendship bracelets. Courtney lowers their voice to continue: “It’s just a hunch I have. The dodgeball game, the talent show… something is going on,”
“Really?” McLovin looks at Mal. “But she seems so… nice?”
“That’s what she wants everyone here to think. She knows no one would believe me…”
“I would,”
Courtney hesitates for a few moments, and then grabs McLovin’s wrist to drag him outside, behind the communal bathrooms. “If I tell you, you have to promise to keep this a secret,”
“Promise. I’m an expert at secrets, trust me,”
“Well…” Courtney sighs. “The whole reason I auditioned to come here was because my reputation is at stake because of it. That girl… Mal… she’s not who everyone thinks she is.”
McLovin raises an eyebrow. “What?”
“Her real name is Lucy. We both run Total Drama blogs. We were even friends, for a while… that is, until I figured out what her true colors are. When she found out I was going to cut her off, she published this huge manifesto about me- my secrets, my feelings, things we’d shared in confidence over questionably secure private chats. She accused me of glorifying Total Drama Island, and disregarding the struggles of the past contestants. She said that unless I was actually on a season, I was a liar, a manipulator, and a “”toxic fan””. So… I came here to prove myself, and she followed,”
“Woah, that’s heavy stuff,” McLovin says, frowning. He looks over his shoulder, back to the mess hall. “If what you’re saying is true, then… everyone’s in some serious sh-”
“I know! But I can’t say anything, because she’ll get me eliminated, somehow. She’s playing the game like such a major antag… So I’m just trying to focus on winning until the merge,”
“Should we tell Ass?”
“No, we can’t…” Courtney sighs. “Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to warn them a little, though. Can I trust you with that?”
McLovin salutes and jogs off. Courtney stretches and walks in the opposite direction a few moments later, just in time for a Lightning-shrouded head to peek out around the corner.
---
SHA-MOD: “Sha-Mod’s got the Sha-Dirt! And if there’s anything this show has taught me, it’s that blackmail is a winning strategy! Or was it that you should never eat those succulent little red berries you find on trees…?”
---
“Alright, campers! Meet me at the campfire pit for the “deets” on your next challenge! Did I say that right? I feel like the interns keep making up these words, Chef,”
“Chris, the intercom is still on,”
---
The campers sit (or stand) around the campfire pit, looking extremely unenthused. Julia is dressed, but squinting without her glasses. McLovin saunters over and forces himself between Ass and Mal on the grass.
“Today’s challenge will test your outdoor and/or survival skills,” Chris grins, holding up two packs. “Your only job is to live through a night in the woods. Most- or some- of the things you’ll need are already at your team’s camp site, if you can find it.” He tosses the packs over- Max catches one, and McLovin catches the other before handing it to Courtney.
“The first team back here tomorrow morning wins. Oh, and watch out for bears… and the killer mutant hornet nests we hid around the island this morning.”
The campers wince.
---
CAESAR: “Well, I’m not exactly happy to be on the receiving end of these things, but I can’t say I’m not impressed. Chris has style,”
---
The Inane Anons walk at a somewhat steady pace, following Max and Staci as they attempt to read the map. “You know, my great-great-great-great uncle Ferdinand was actually a third member of the Lewis and Clark expedition, but they left his name out of the notes because of the anti-Spanish sentiment back in the 1600s,”
Max sighs. “Yeah, that’s great. Can you just tell me if we’re heading in the right direction?”
“Nice leading, strawberry shortcake!” Julia yells from behind, standing alongside Michael as if she were a service dog.
“I don’t want to hear a peep out of you, Helen,” Max snaps, pointing back at her. “You’re about as useful to us right now as a two-legged horse.”
Julia glares in the wrong direction. Michael pauses to grab her head and pull it back around to where Max is standing.
---
Max grins, leaning against the confessional wall, and then pulls a thick pair of glasses out of his blazer.
---
“Just a few more paces this way,” Courtney says to McLovin, pointing ahead before they turn to the sound of shrill giggles coming from Mal and Ass. Courtney looks at him and he salutes them, jogging backwards until he’s right between the two friends.
“Hey, Mal, I think I heard Caesar was looking for you,” he says, jabbing his thumb backwards to where Caesar and Bonnie are lagging behind the rest of the group, chatting merrily with each other.
Mal raises an eyebrow. “Really?”
“Oh, yeah, he wanted to ask you about that… thing,”
Ass gives Mal a perplexed look, to which she shrugs and turns to the back of the crowd. As soon as she’s gone, McLovin turns to Ass. “Hey, so, I don’t wanna intrude or anything, but-”
Sha-Mod suddenly pops out of nowhere, wrapping his arms around their shoulders. “What’re we talking about, guys?”
“Oh- um, nothing,” McLovin smiles nervously.
“Good! Wouldn’t wanna say anything funny without Mal around to hear it, right?”
---
SHA-MOD: "I keep forgetting who's sha-side I'm on. But I'm pretty sure you're supposed to use blackmail against the people with the secret. ...Right?
---
“Um,” McLovin responds, ducking out from under Sha-Mod. “Right. I should go talk to Courtney about… that thing.”
The Fujoshis step into a clearing where their tent and a small circle of stones is set up on the ground. Courtney smiles triumphantly. “Okay, we have a few hours before sunset, let’s start organizing ourselves,”
“Booooo,” Caesar heckles from the back. Bonnie elbows him with a grin, and Courtney rolls their eyes.
“Okay, who thinks they can get enough food for everyone?”
“Oh, me! Me! Me and Ass!” Mal jumps as she raises her hand, wrapping her available arm around Ass’ waist. They giggle and Courtney groans. “Okay. You two, and… McLovin, can you go with them?”
“No way, man,” Sha-Mod says, stepping up and leaning his arm on McLovin’s shoulder. “My boy and I already agreed we’re getting the firewood.”
“Okay, then I’ll go with Ass and Mal. Kitty, just stay here and keep the animals away from our supplies. Caesar, Bonnie, you two- where did Caesar and Bonnie go?”
---
“I never was a fan of the outdoors,” Bonnie sighs, kicking a rock across the path.
“Oh, God, never. I’ll run simulators and collect analytics all day, but camping? In this?” Caesar gestures to his finely-pressed suit.
“Totally, I get that. Where are we going, again?”
“Craft services tent. I’m not eating raw meat and berries tonight like some kind of cave creature, not while Chris and Chef get to have gourmet food service. Besides, Courtney seems like they have things under control,”
Bonnie shrugs. “Yeah, they’ve got their own thing going on. They won’t miss us,”
---
“Okay, Staci, Scary and O, go find some firewood, enough for the night. Scruffy, count our supplies and see what else we’ll need. Kelly and Austin, find us something to eat. Michael- go with them and make sure they don’t hurt themselves, please,” Max reads off the tiny notes Chris left on the map. “Frollo and Julia, sit over there and try to be quiet.”
Julia grimaces. “No. No way you’re sticking me with Pope Francis over here,”
Frollo glares, opens his mouth to say something, and is promptly met with a finger in his face. “I don’t even wanna hear it, altar boy!”
“If I let either of you out of sight, you’ll get lost, and I’m not in the mood to arrange a search party for you bozos,” Max says. “Stay here and try to stay alive, please.”
Julia grumbles and walks over to the space between the fire pit and the campfire where Frollo is already sitting with his Bible.
Staci and O come jogging back, panting and wood-less.
Max sighs. “I don’t mean to bother you from your afternoon jog, but you guys seem to be missing some firewood,”
O gasps and collapses on the ground, shaking and rocking back and forth. Staci stutters, sputtering for air while waving their arms around. “B-b-b-”
Julia’s eyes widen and they whip their head around. “Bear? Where?”
“Bats!”
“Seriously? Okay, awesome, you found some bats. Where’s our fire fuel?” Max looks around. “And where’s Scary?”
---
Scary sits in a darkened cave, only their eyes visible as he looks around with delight. The camera spins, revealing that she’s hanging upside down, just as a few dozen pairs of massive green eyes open around her.
“Tee-hee!”
---
“Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me! How hard is it?! How hard is it?!” Max paces back and forth, groaning. “Stupid… ok, who’s going to go get her?”
Everyone looks at each other. O, still on the ground, wriggles away and hides inside the tent. Scruffy whistles and looks up at the sky, Staci steps behind a nearby tree. Frollo coughs.
"Julia, you-"
"Nuh-uh, four-eyes," Julia wags a finger at him. "I'm legally blind, remember?"
“What’s going on here?” Michael asks, leading Austin and Kelly (too busy holding hands and carrying a bundle of fish) back into camp.
“Minor setback,” Max sighs. “Where’d you get the fish from?”
“The river. There’s a ton of them, probably migration season or something. I just kinda…” Michael gestures, jabbing her hand downward in a grabby motion. “Austin and Kelly just collected a bunch of seashells for jewelry.”
Scruffy raises an eyebrow, their tone a mix of confusion and slight disgust. "You just grabbed them out of the water? With your hands?"
Michael lowers her eyes. "What have you done so far, exactly?"
Max thinks for a moment.
---
MAX: “There's definitely something wrong with the part of her brain that's supposed to process rational thinking, but at least she's competent.”
---
“Okay, Michael, you’re with me. Scruffy is in charge while we’re gone,”
“What? What’s going on?”
“We had a little mishap. And by we, I mean tweedle dee and tweedle dum over there,” Max jabs his thumb back to Staci and O, who’re both looking around innocently.
---
“Okay, seriously, how is this so hard?” Courtney huffs. “I’ve been reading survival manuals all semester, and I can’t find anything to eat but tree bark, which is a last resort.”
“I dunno, maybe we just suck at surviving?” Ass chuckles just as Mal comes running back into the clearing, holding up the hem of her shirt.
“You guys! You guys! Huge berry patch!” she pants, holding up the indented pouch in her top, which they reveal to be full of little red berries. “You gotta come help me carry them!”
Courtney beams, giving Mal a tiny, tiny grateful look before bounding off in the same direction with Ass. Mal smiles slightly, and then walks after them.
---
“That was amazing,” Bonnie sighs, stretching. “Seriously- I’ve never had food so good before.”
“It’s probably just because we’ve grown too accustomed to the slop they serve in this place,” Caesar chuckles as the two walk back to camp. “But that was pretty extraordinary. Those sandwiches? Goodbye to my diet!”
“Ugh, living on this island is a diet,”
“You can say that again,”
The sun is already setting in the distance, shrouding the landscape in an orange-y hue. They continue down the path, idly talking amongst themselves before suddenly hearing a rustling up ahead. Caesar holds out his arm, stopping Bonnie in their tracks. “Did you hear that?”
“What?”
“I heard something… it sounded big… bear big...”
“If you’re messing with me, Caesar, I swear…”
Suddenly, McLovin and Sha-Mod come running out of the woods, covered in little red bumps and screaming. Caesar and Bonnie look at each other, and then back to them as they disappear in the brush on the other side of the path. Just as they do, a massive swarm of hornets emerge from the forest.
“Oh, crap,” Bonnie says. “Run?”
Caesar nods. “Run,”
The two set off in the same direction as Sha-Mod and McLovin, bounding through the woods as branches tear at their skin and clothes and the breeze tousles their hair. They catch up with the two former contestants, who are still screaming in sync.
“What the hell did you idiots do?!” Bonnie shouts.
McLovin starts. “We were just-”
“Looking for firewood!” Sha-Mod continues.
“We were both planning on-”
“Sabotaging each other!” They say in unison.
“But we realized we actually-”
“Have a lot in common!”
“That’s a great Hallmark movie, where do the hornets come in?!” Caesar shouts.
“We were heading back to camp and I tripped on a log sha-full of 'em!” Sha-Mod shouts back.
“Look! Up Ahead!”
The end of the island is fastly approaching, a sharp cliff drop into the waters below. McLovin and Sha-Mod hold hands. “Jump on three!”
Bonnie’s eyes widen. “WHAT?!”
“One!”
Caesar holds up a finger. “Wait just a-”
“Two!”
“My- my hair!”
“Three!”
Sha-Mod and McLovin jump into the water, Bonnie following. Caesar hesitates for a moment as the swarm approaches before groaning and jumping, too.
---
“They said north,”
“We’ve been walking north for hours,”
Max sighs, checking his watch. “Forty-five minutes. Seeing as it’s a cave, it’ll probably be around the mountains, which are just up ahead,”
Michael rolls her eyes and pulls up the hood of her parka. It’s now pitch black outside as the two approach the small mountain range’s base and see a large cave opening up ahead, a bioluminescent green smear above the entrance.
“That’s the one,”
The two give each other a fleetingly nervous look, but move on without another word.
“I don’t suppose you brought a flashlight with you?”
The two walk into the cave, dimly light by the fading dusk, and squint into the surrounding darkness before seeing Scary hanging from the ceiling.
“You! You get down here right this second!” Max hisses, pointing a finger at her. Scary giggles.
Michael looks around. “Where are the, um, you know… the bats?”
“Out,” Scary smiles. “It’s night, sillies!”
“We need to go,” Max whisper-shouts. “Get down from there!”
Scary smiles, and then lets their body go limp, falling from the ceiling straight onto Michael and Max, knocking them both out cold.
---
“What happened to you four?” Mal asks with a small smile.
Caesar sighs, rolling his eyes and waving off the question as Bonnie continues trying to wring the water out of their thick ponytail. McLovin and Sha-Mod are chuckling, already joking about the ordeal.
Courtney giggles from the other side of the fire. “Why are your heads all swirly? And why are you green?”
“I’m seeing new colors, man, new ones,” Ass says, shaking their head.
“Um… what’s going on with Cheech and Chong over here?” Caesar asks.
“Nothing, they’re just tired,” Mal smiles, patting the ground beside her, inviting everyone to take a seat. “Care for some berries?”
---
“Ugh… What the hell happened?” Michael groans, her eyes opening slowly. “...Scary?”
Max, curled up on her lap like a cat, sighs as he wakes up. “Where are we?”
“We’re still in the cave. I think Scary knocked us out,”
Max stands up and stretches as Michael rubs her eyes. His usual look of annoyance crosses his face and he begins walking out of the cave before Michael can get up. “If we lose, that thing is leaving,”
She places a hand over the bruise on her head. “I can agree with that,”
---
Caesar’s eyes slowly open and he hisses at the harsh glare of the sun, directly overhead. “What the- what happened?”
Courtney sits up next, their eyes red and their face almost gaunt. “What- what time is it?”
“Noon,” Ass says, squinting into the sun. “We’re so totally screwed.”
“God, what was that? I feel like my brain went through the spin cycle on my grandma’s old ass washing machine,” Bonnie stands up, brushing off their hoodie.
Courtney spots a stray remaining berry on the ground and inspects it. “I don’t think these are raspberries,”
“What are they?” McLovin asks, rubbing his forehead. “...Blackberries?”
“I have no clue, but if my memory of last night serves correct, they seem to have some hallucinogenic properties,”
Caesar blinks. “You’re saying we were drugged?”
“Not intentionally! Mal didn’t know!” Ass insists, looping their arm with Mal’s, who smiles earnestly and nods. She shoots Sha-Mod a glare.
"Y-yeah, Mal didn't know!" he says.
Mal sighs. “I am so sorry, if I’d known, I never would’ve let Kitty’s advice slide!”
Everyone blinks. Courtney lowers their eyes. “Kitty told you about the berries?”
Mal nods solemnly. “That’s probably why they’re not here… trying to keep us from winning,”
McLovin gives Courtney a glance.
---
MCLOVIN: “Now, call me crazy, but wasn’t Mal the only person at the campfire last night who wasn’t all “your heads are swirly!”?”
---
“Maybe Kitty's already back at the main camp,” Courtney says, standing. “We still have a chance if we hustle!”
The team sets off, running back in the direction they remember coming from with Courtney in the lead. McLovin hangs back, running alongside Ass. “Can I talk to you for a sec?”
“What?” they ask, panting.
“Listen… I know you two are friends and all, but Mal is bad news. When the rest of us got to camp, she was the only one who was completely sober. I think she… she might be trying to save face by blaming Kitty, you know?”
Ass shakes their head. “Mal wouldn’t do that! I know her!”
“Do you?”
---
“I am going to wring her little emo neck,” Max huffs. Michael is too winded to respond, but points up ahead at the sight of camp. The rest of the Inane Anons, including Scary, are already sitting around the campfire, most looking around nervously.
Max turns to the side and sees the Fujoshis jogging alongside them, and then grabs Michael’s wrist and drags her along faster.
Alas, it’s too late- the Fujoshis make it to the campfire and collapse, exhausted, seconds before Max and Michael can.
“We… we won…” Courtney wheezes. “We won!”
“Erm… not so fast, campers. Looks like you’re missing a teammate,” Chris chuckles. “Lost cat?”
Courtney’s eyes widen. “Oh, sh-”
“Which means the victory goes to the Inane Anons!”
Max collapses on the ground and coughs as the rest of the team cheers and huddles around each other. Julia’s glasses slip out of Max’s pocket and land on the grass beside Michael, who picks them up.
Max gives her a look before she frowns at him and walks over to Julia, turning her towards her and setting the glasses on her face.
“Oh. Oh!” Julia grins, adjusting them. “Where’d you find them?”
“Oh, you know…” Michael hesitates. “They were just out in the woods.”
“Stupid Chris must’ve pulled something,” Julia rolls her eyes before giving Michael a hug. “Thank you!”
---
JULIA: “Do I really believe that? No, definitely not. But I need an ally and, well, to be frank, Michael has always come off as kinda desperate,”
---
“Fujoshis- normally, our campfire ceremony would be a little more dramatic, but seeing as you’re still missing a team member, I feel my creative energy feels a bit dampened,” Chris grins. “Most of you are safe! Sha-Mod, you sic’d the killer hornets on half your team. Mal, you gave everyone hallucinogenic berries- and Kitty, wherever that thing is, gave Mal the berries and then disappeared, costing you the win!”
Everyone frowns deeply aside from Mal, and Ass gives them a small, suspicious look.
“So, it should come as no surprise that Mal and Sha-Mod are safe,” Chris chuckles. “We’ll send a search team out for Kitty in the morning, after breakfast… or maybe lunch, depending on how I’m feeling.”
The team grumbles amongst themselves and stands, beginning to walk back to their respective cabins. Ass turns to Mal as she begins to leave.
“Did you lie?”
Mal stops, but doesn’t turn.
“Did you tell everyone that it was Kitty’s fault to get them eliminated?”
She rolls her eyes before putting on a small smile, half-turning towards Ass. “Now, why would I do something like that?”
"McLovin said..."
"Don't be stupid," Mal snaps. "Who would you trust? Your best friend, or some string bean?"
Ass doesn't have a response, so they simply look at the ground, rubbing their arm. They look up just in time to frown deeply as Mal walks off.
---
Somewhere deep in the woods on the island, a derelict, crumbling well sits in the dark. A small giggle comes from within its depths.

Check Out Special Thanksgiving Laundry Hacks Near London
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6d175b65ca742fd493f049d2d2131786/d835a7b230ecb7d8-d8/s540x810/c604f6aa1bf80765118441a4abdc79163017bcba.jpg)
While the hallowed Thanksgiving may be weeks away, it is never too early to get things in order. Time flies when such occasions approach and suddenly the big day has arrived. Everybody, no matter the age, will be quite busy organising events and celebrating. It may be get-togethers and outings with family and friends. It is a festive scenario, and prayers and gratitude hold special meanings. Make sure that cleaning up includes costumes and dresses well in advance rather than rush around late. Laundry near London helps to set life in order.
Prime Laundry offers an expert helping hand by picking up and delivering clothing for free at the doorstep. Charges are quite reasonable, communication is easy online, and timings are flexible. Discounts add up when the bundle of dresses gets bigger. Dress alterations, repairs, and shoe services at the same company make it very convenient and cost-effective.
Encouraging the DIY Culture
If specialised services are not required for delicate dresses facing risks of damage, start washing and ironing at home. Valuable dresses should be entrusted to the dry cleaner. Start early and plan ahead. Sort the dresses according to shade. The lighter shades go together, and so do the dark shades.
Regarding unsightly stains that generate odours, work on them early. Besides shop stain removers, baking soda and white vinegar are effective too. Test against stain remover discolouration in a hidden part of the dress.
When it comes to delicate dresses, hand washing is safest. Smaller items like napkins should use the delicate cycle in the washing machine. Cold water wash for sensitive fabrics guards against shrinking. Air drying works best for flimsy clothes. A dryer could be used on low heat with the clothes quickly removed to prevent wrinkling. A little dampness while ironing further reduces wrinkles.
DIY guys have yet another option. Those who wish to play a part in the washing and meet others while doing it, the Laundromat near by London is great. You get to operate the machines and carry out small tasks nearby during the waiting period. Those who are not too busy with professional or family work could use the self-service facility for satisfaction. Operating the machine is enough with a little assistance from other, more experienced clients.
Seek Professional Support If Necessary
If the laundry bundle is too big or comprises delicate and expensive dresses, call on the Laundry service. Whether silks or woollens, suede and leather, costumes are quite safe with them. Besides, those pretty dresses will not be out of sight for too long, with same-day delivery often possible.
If doubts remain, follow the safe policy. Consider the many supreme advantages. The advanced eco-friendly washing machines use less water. Dry cleaning uses non-toxic cleaning materials. The specialists know what sort of treatments the different fabrics require. Stain and odour removal works so much better with them. The final touch of professional ironing with the best equipment feels like a rebirth for faded and tired dresses. Costumes undergo a revival process and look like new. The shape returns, and the decorations and threads sit in place. The well-ironed look attracts attention and sets you free on special occasions.
Modifying Garments
Exquisite beloved garments require occasional attention from a tailor, like loosening or tightening a part of the dress. Lengthening and shortening shirt sleeves and trouser lengths may be needed. Children grow fast, and alterations are needed. Losing or gaining weight would require dress adjustments. DIY may not work in such situations, though some try their hand at it. Just like washing, dry cleaning, and ironing, the tailor nearby London carries out a neat, proficient job, suiting official or formal requirements.
Honour The Harvest Festival
Successful crop harvests started the Thanksgiving tradition, a reminder that farmers sustain human life. It is time for gratitude, charity, and giving back to society. Best spent with family and friends; make it a memorable occasion one more time and set a worthy example.
Especially with larger families and organisations, a lot of housekeeping duties would include laundry and ironing. Prime Laundry could handle the bigger and more complicated tasks with specialist care and guard against damage. On a smaller scale, home washing and ironing need to observe a few do’s and don’ts. Almost every readymade garment carries a care label with instructions on washing and ironing. Follow the instructions carefully. Wash linens separately from garments to prevent lint transfer. Use a fabric softener for soft towels. Those interested in self-service could visit the Launderette near London.

How Handicraft Product Exporters Are Supporting Local Artisans Worldwide
Handicraft products exporters are instrumental in bridging the gap between local artisans and global consumers interested in traditional and artisanal goods. One such fine example for local exporters helping local artisans sustain their craft and make it popular worldwide is Impex Enterprises, one stop destination and a leading handicraft exporter in India. Impex Enterprises plays a pivotal role in the development and welfare of artisans.
Empowering Local Artisans
One of the main ways that handicraft product exporters contribute to local artisans is by creating access to foreign markets. How to Select the Ideal Dining Tablecloth for Every Occasion.
Your dining table is often the heart of social gatherings, from festive family dinners to intimate get-togethers. Choosing the right tablecloth sets the tone for your event and enhances the ambiance of your space. But with so many options available, how do you choose the perfect tablecloth for every occasion?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/13b03269a9988cd1042756d2c949135c/91f8688b75713e49-e9/s250x250_c1/5836a6396387bec9329adce9f2d4d6c68d2c72c8.jpg)
we’ll walk you through everything you need to consider—from size, material, and color to patterns and special occasions. Whether you’re hosting a casual brunch or an elegant evening dinner, these tips will ensure you make the ideal choice every time.
1. Consider the Occasion
The first step in choosing a dining tablecloth is understanding the nature of your event. Casual, formal, or festive settings will each call for different tablecloths.
Casual Occasions: For everyday use or casual dining, opt for simple, easy-to-clean tablecloths like cotton or polyester blends. These materials are durable, low-maintenance, and offer a variety of colors and patterns.
Formal Dinners: If you're hosting a formal event like a wedding reception or holiday dinner, linen or damask tablecloths are an excellent choice. These fabrics provide an elegant drape and texture that adds sophistication to the dining experience.
Festive Gatherings: For holidays or special celebrations, go bold with festive designs or seasonal colors. Patterns that reflect the theme of the celebration (such as snowflakes for winter holidays or florals for spring) can add a fun and welcoming touch.
2. Choose the Right Size
The fit of your tablecloth is crucial to how polished your table setting will look. A tablecloth that’s too small or too large can make even a well-set table appear untidy.
Measure Your Table: Start by measuring the length and width of your dining table. Once you have the dimensions, decide how much overhang you'd like. For casual occasions, a 6-10 inch drop is ideal, while formal events usually require a more dramatic drop of 15-20 inches.
Shape Matters: Match the tablecloth shape to your table. Round tables require round tablecloths, while rectangular or oval tables need a similarly shaped cloth to ensure an even look.
3. Pick the Best Fabric
Tablecloth materials play a major role in the table’s overall appearance and functionality. Here are a few common fabric choices:
Cotton: Easy to maintain and versatile, cotton tablecloths are perfect for everyday use. They come in a variety of patterns and colors and can be washed frequently without wearing down.
Linen: The go-to choice for more formal settings, linen is luxurious and timeless. Linen tablecloths provide a crisp, elegant look but require special care, such as ironing, to maintain their pristine appearance.
Polyester or Polyester Blends: For budget-friendly and wrinkle-resistant options, polyester or blends are great choices. They’re ideal for outdoor events, easy to wash, and often stain-resistant.
Silk or Velvet: For truly extravagant occasions, fabrics like silk or velvet offer a high-end, luxurious feel. However, these materials are delicate and require more attention to care and cleaning.
4. Consider Color and Pattern
The color and pattern of your tablecloth will significantly impact the mood of your event. Neutral tones such as white, ivory, or beige work well for formal or versatile occasions. These classic colors provide a clean backdrop for your dinnerware and decor.
For casual or seasonal events, don’t be afraid to experiment with brighter colors or intricate patterns. A vibrant, patterned tablecloth can serve as a focal point, especially when paired with simpler dishware.
Monochromatic Schemes: For an elegant, minimalist look, opt for a monochromatic table setting. A white or beige tablecloth paired with matching napkins and understated dishware exudes class and sophistication.
Bold Patterns: For more lively gatherings, consider florals, stripes, or themed patterns. These designs can create a festive atmosphere and show off your personal style.
5. Consider Special Features
Modern tablecloths often come with special features that add to their functionality. For example, stain-resistant coatings make it easier to clean up after spills, while waterproof or outdoor-friendly materials are perfect for alfresco dining.
Stain-Resistant Tablecloths: If you expect spills and stains, especially for family gatherings with children, look for tablecloths with a stain-resistant finish. These are perfect for casual dinners and can be easily wiped down or washed after use.
Wrinkle-Free Options: If you want to avoid the hassle of ironing, wrinkle-free fabrics such as polyester blends or high-quality cotton are great choices. They look smooth even after washing and drying.
6. Layer for Extra Elegance
For formal events, consider layering your tablecloth with other linens like table runners or placemats. This not only adds depth and texture to your table setting but also allows you to incorporate different colors and patterns without overwhelming the space.
Table Runners: A table runner can be placed over a solid-colored tablecloth to add visual interest and create a focal point along the length of the table. Choose a runner that complements your tablecloth, either through contrasting colors or matching tones.
Placemats: Adding placemats atop your tablecloth helps to define individual place settings and can also protect the table from spills or hot dishes.
7. Caring for Your Tablecloth
Once you’ve selected the perfect tablecloth, proper care will ensure it remains in excellent condition for future events.
Regular Washing: Be sure to follow the care instructions for your tablecloth's fabric. Cotton and polyester tablecloths can usually be machine washed, while linen and silk may require hand washing or dry cleaning.
Storage: To avoid wrinkles, store your tablecloths folded neatly or hung up when not in use. For delicate fabrics like linen, consider rolling the cloth to prevent creasing.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the ideal dining tablecloth involves balancing style, function, and occasion. Whether you’re hosting a formal dinner or a casual gathering, the right tablecloth will set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Keep these tips in mind, and your table will always be beautifully dressed for every event.

Week 10: Impressions of China
Hello hello! For this week’s blog, I wanted to talk about my before and after impressions of China. I’ve been to China a couple of times over the past summer breaks and mostly stayed in my family's hometown in Fuzhou which is at the country's southeast corner. It's very nostalgic to think about the town where neighbors invite each other to their house and everyone seems to know each other. The locals would see my new face and instantly recognize I'm a stranger. If news hadn't spread to them that a family from one block had returned and brought their grand-daughters on summer vacation, then they could easily tell I'm a foreigner from my denim shorts and tennis shoes. Because of my familiarity with Fuzhou, I experienced less cultural shock this summer but I’ll try my best to be helpful and break down some observations and differences between life here and back in the US.
People Everywhere
Whether it's the home I stayed in Tennessee or the home I moved to during middle school in Michigan, both have huge green lawns with a wide space separating the neighbors. China, however, is more compressed and densely populated. The local park where kids played badminton while older aunties blasted loud music and gathered for square dance (广场舞) as a form of exercise, the ice cream shop that had the most flavors, and the food market where my grandma searched for the freshest produce and seafood for the day's menu— they're all walkable distances within the town. When I'm too lazy to walk, I would beg my grandpa to take me on his motorcycle or wave over one of those cycle rickshaws on the street. Ironically, my first impression of Shanghai is how everywhere is most definitely not a friendly walkable distance from my dorm, especially with the summer heat. The locals warned, "it gets worse in July and August!" The suburban area of Shanghai where I live and study is more peaceful compared to the bustling downtown which always seems to be awake with fancy city lights.
Dorm vs. Downtown Shanghai
Regardless if it’s in the small corner of suburbs or in the less developed towns, there’s always people. This is one of China’s main qualities. In my grandparents' town, the people sleep early and get up early to start business and catch the early morning market. Here, the students are night owls and frequently pull off all-nighters to catch deadlines. SJTU is a top-notch university, so classes are intense and the students have to be very academically-driven to meet the expectations.
Spread of Tourism
Many places have been turned into developed cities adapted for tourism, and it’s become a great challenge to take pictures of sites without getting anyone in the frame. I had to angle my phone toward the sky to avoid the crowds at the bottom. To prove my point,
Most of these tourist places are clean and well-managed, but there are some night markets that are littered with empty takeout containers and napkins and I can smell the public restrooms before I see them. The restrooms in China are not comparable to those in the US, except the ones in expensive shopping malls. They usually have squat toilets and don’t provide toilet paper in the stall, so packing travel-size tissue packs is a must. Last touch on tourism, I feel like as China becomes fancier, it’s simultaneously losing its authenticity. Tourism helps speed up the city development and brings profit to the regional government that can be distributed to further renovation projects. It’s inevitable that things are going to look and feel different than the past. But because of city remodeling, there are more things to do and more fun to have :) I do think each city I've seen is unique with their special tourist attractions and city landscape.
I just realized I never really talked about my outings in Shanghai, so I'm going to drop some pictures here!
Above you can see Pearl Tower, which is basically proof you've been to Shanghai. I lowered the brightness to make the color contrast stand out.
More Shanghai's landmarks!
International Students' Perspective of China
I am taking a Chinese Cultural class along with other Umich wolverines and international students. It's very interesting to listen to the international students' impressions of China. Cultural shock hits most to them who came from other countries without a Chinese family background. They described the Chinese people as calm and emotionless, to which the teacher responded the locals will get full of emotions if the subject is on tests and GPA. Real. The calm part was emphasized with multiple examples of traffic accidents, where two bikers crashed and asked if each is okay and then parted in separate ways, like nothing had happened.
My observations:
Chinese people are generally more reserved and minded less on the polite thank you's and how are you's (how are you's are often replaced with "have you eaten")
People don't hold doors for others
People don't always follow the first-come-first-serve rule. My grandpa had laughed at me for trying to line up to buy pan fried meat-bun when people squeezed in and yelled their order
It's intimidating almost to step into the clothing stores at the shopping malls because the salespeople can be overly enthusiastic to sell their items
Prices are not always set, even when there is a price tag!! It's sometimes possible to negotiate for more discounts if you try hard enough! (not that I have the skill)
Sun protection is a big thing! People invest in sunscreen and sun protection jackets/umbrellas/hats.
Cigarette smell is pervasive
Foreigner Disadvantage
Despite English is being taught as a second language since first grade and being tested on the important standardized test (高考) that determines what universities students can get in, people don't use English in daily lives. Speaking English attracts attention and curiosity and can make foreigners an easy target for the greedy minds. Those people can tell you're unfamiliar with the market price and charge extra. There may be other sketchy deals that they will try to drag you into, so it's best to keep information confidential. When cab drivers and shop employees are curious and ask where I'm from, I just tell them I study in Shanghai. It's safer to reveal less when it's not necessary.
I realized that the more I see, the less I grow to appreciate the sites. Maybe it's the glaring sun combined with my failing vision that made me squint at the scenes or maybe there's another very likely possibility. Maybe I've seen too much of the same things that I've gotten tired of the repetitive content. Below is the Slender West Lake (瘦西湖) in Yangzhou that looks similar to the West Lake (西湖) I've seen in Hangzhou. I didn't find the views to be particularly striking until I sent them to friends and family and their comments reminded me of how pretty the scenes are. I won't be able to see them back in the US, but they will stay in my photo album forever.
This summer has been very productive in terms of exploring, and traveling to cities has helped expand my mental map of China. I hope my blogging has helped you see some parts of China and make you feel excited to explore it if you plan to come!
Until next time!

15 Creative Ways to Incorporate Embroidery into Home Decor
15 Creative Ways to Incorporate Embroidery into Home Decor:
Transform Your Space with Needlework Art
Embroidery has long been cherished as a beautiful and intricate craft, but it's no longer confined to clothing and linens. Today, we're exploring how this timeless art form can breathe new life into your home decor. From subtle accents to bold statement pieces, embroidery offers endless possibilities to personalize and elevate your living spaces. Let's dive into 15 creative ways to incorporate embroidery into your home decor, transforming your house into a unique and inviting haven. - Embroidered Wall Art One of the most striking ways to showcase embroidery in your home is through wall art. Large embroidered pieces can serve as focal points in living rooms, bedrooms, or home offices. Consider creating or purchasing a landscape scene, abstract design, or even a personalized family portrait rendered in thread. The texture and dimension of embroidery add depth to your walls that traditional paintings can't match. Pro Tip: Frame your embroidered artwork in sleek, modern frames to create an interesting contrast between the traditional craft and contemporary presentation. - Customized Throw Pillows Embroidered throw pillows are a versatile and easy way to introduce needlework into your decor. Whether you opt for delicate floral patterns, bold geometric designs, or witty quotes, these pillows can instantly update your sofa, bed, or reading nook. Mix and match different embroidery styles to create a cohesive yet eclectic look. DIY Idea: Transform plain store-bought pillows with iron-on embroidered patches for a quick and budget-friendly update. - Embellished Curtains and Drapes Elevate your window treatments with embroidered details. A border of intricate stitching along the edges of curtains or a central motif can turn ordinary drapes into bespoke decor pieces. For a subtle touch, consider embroidered tie-backs or valances. Design Tip: Choose embroidery colors that complement or contrast with your curtain fabric for maximum impact. - Table Linens with a Twist Bring charm to your dining area with embroidered table linens. From elaborate tablecloths to simple placemats and napkins, embroidery can elevate every meal. Consider seasonal designs for holiday gatherings or timeless patterns for year-round use. Entertaining Idea: Create a set of napkins with each guest's initials for a personalized touch at your next dinner party. - Embroidered Lampshades Cast a warm, inviting glow in any room with embroidered lampshades. Whether you opt for a fully covered design or subtle accents, these unique shades add character and soften the light beautifully. This is an excellent opportunity to incorporate delicate, translucent designs that come to life when illuminated. Craft Challenge: Try your hand at embroidering on paper or thin fabric to create your own custom lampshade. - Upholstered Furniture Accents Give new life to old furniture or add interest to plain pieces with embroidered accents. A chair back, footstool, or headboard can become a work of art with the right embroidery. This technique is particularly effective for breathing new life into vintage or second-hand furniture finds. Upcycling Tip: Before embarking on a full furniture embroidery project, practice on a small, inconspicuous area to perfect your technique. - Embroidered Room Dividers and Screens In open-plan living spaces or studio apartments, embroidered room dividers offer both functionality and beauty. A large-scale embroidered scene or pattern on a folding screen can define separate areas while adding a stunning visual element to your decor. Space-Saving Idea: Use an embroidered room divider as a backdrop for video calls or as a photography background. - Unique Bathroom Textiles Don't forget the bathroom when incorporating embroidery into your home. Embroidered hand towels, bath mats, and shower curtains can transform this functional space into a luxurious retreat. Opt for water-themed motifs like waves, fish, or seashells for a cohesive look. Care Tip: Choose embroidery threads that are colorfast and washable for bathroom textiles to ensure longevity. - Embroidered Cabinet and Drawer Fronts For a truly unique touch, consider adding embroidery to cabinet or drawer fronts. This unexpected application can turn ordinary storage into a conversation piece. It works particularly well in craft rooms, children's bedrooms, or as an accent in kitchen or bathroom cabinetry. DIY Approach: For a less permanent option, create embroidered fabric panels that can be easily attached and removed from cabinet fronts. - Decorative Embroidery Hoops Embrace the craft aspect of embroidery by displaying pieces still in their hoops. Group various sizes and designs together for an eclectic gallery wall, or use individual hoops to add pops of color and texture throughout your home. This approach celebrates the process as much as the final product. Styling Suggestion: Mix embroidery hoops with other wall decor like prints, photographs, and small shelves for a dynamic and personalized display. - Embroidered Bedding Transform your bedroom into a cozy sanctuary with embroidered bedding. From elaborate duvet covers to simple pillow shams, embroidery adds a touch of luxury to your sleep space. Consider monogrammed pillowcases for a personalized touch or a fully embroidered bedspread for a dramatic focal point. Sleep Tip: Opt for smooth, high-quality threads for bedding embroidery to ensure comfort against the skin. - Unique Window Treatments Beyond curtains, embroidery can enhance other window treatments. Embroidered roman shades, for instance, combine functionality with artistry. For a more subtle approach, add embroidered details to the edges of blinds or create embroidered valances to top off plain curtains. Light Control: Choose lighter colors and more open designs for areas where you want to maintain natural light while still adding decoration. - Embroidered Wall Clocks Combine functionality with art by creating or purchasing an embroidered wall clock. The face of the clock becomes a canvas for intricate designs, turning a practical item into a stunning decor piece. This is an excellent way to incorporate embroidery into spaces where you might not typically expect to find textiles. Time-Saving Tip: For an easier project, embroider a circular piece of fabric and insert it into an existing clock frame. - Statement Rugs and Floor Coverings While fully embroidered rugs might not be practical for high-traffic areas, you can incorporate embroidery into your floor coverings in creative ways. Consider a plain rug with embroidered borders or a central motif. Alternatively, create small embroidered floor mats for entryways or in front of sinks. Durability Note: For floor applications, choose sturdy fabrics and threads, and consider adding a protective coating to high-wear areas. - Embroidered Plant Pot Covers Bring your love of embroidery to your indoor garden with embroidered plant pot covers. These can range from simple sleeves with minimal designs to elaborate, fully-covered pieces that turn your plants into living art installations. This is a great way to tie your greenery into your overall decor scheme. Green Thumb Tip: Ensure your embroidered pot covers have proper drainage or are easily removable for plant care. Conclusion: Incorporating embroidery into your home decor opens up a world of creative possibilities. From subtle accents to bold statement pieces, embroidery allows you to infuse your personal style and craftsmanship into every room of your home. Whether you're an experienced embroiderer looking to showcase your skills or simply appreciate the artistry of needlework, these 15 ideas provide a starting point for transforming your living spaces with texture, color, and handmade charm. Remember, the key to successfully integrating embroidery into your decor is balance. Mix embroidered pieces with other textures and materials to create a layered, sophisticated look. Don't be afraid to experiment with different styles, from traditional florals to modern geometric patterns, to find what best reflects your personal aesthetic. By thoughtfully incorporating embroidery throughout your home, you'll create a warm, inviting atmosphere that tells your unique story. Eco-Friendly Kitchenware: Sustainable Choices for a Greener Home
Green living has hit the home in a big way lately. Everywhere you look people are swapping out plastics for wood, nixing paper towels for washable napkins, and clearing cabinets of toxic cleaners. The kitchen has become ground zero for this eco-revolution. choosing renewable, non-toxic goods is where it's at.
The logic is simple. These sustainable swaps are better for the only planet we've got. Avoiding BPA-laden containers means less nasty chemicals seeping into food and drink. Who wants that? Going green keeps families safer. It also saves scarce resources.
This article will run through plenty of ways to green up your kitchen situation. Stick with us to pick up solid leads on scoring durable and sustainable kitchenware made from renewable and recyclable materials. Keep things non-toxic and stay clear of single-use plastics destroying marine life. We're going to clean the house and clear out the crap literally and figuratively. Get your green on and transform how you cook and live.
Benefits of Eco-Friendly Kitchenware
Reduction of Environmental Impact
By choosing eco-friendly kitchenware made from renewable hardwood, recycled metals, biodegradable silicone, and other sustainable materials, you significantly lower environmental impact compared to standard plastics. Production of eco options uses less water, and energy, and creates fewer carbon emissions while the products themselves can be reused, repurposed, and decomposed better than synthetics that linger in landfills for centuries. Their full lifecycles generate far less waste and pollution.
Health Benefits
Conventional kitchenware made from plastics, improper metals, and treatments introduces worrisome toxins over time use through cooking and storage. Chemicals like BPA, lead, and cadmium can leach into foods and drinks, leading to disrupted hormones, cell damage, and increased cancer risks when ingested. Greener options made from natural renewable wood, plant oils, glass, and lead-free finishes greatly reduce exposure to these toxins when preparing, serving, and storing meals.
Long-Term Cost Savings
While upfront costs may be higher for some eco-friendly kitchen tools and dinnerware, focus on their durability and longevity in comparison to cheaper versions requiring continual replacement. Also factor in environmental savings - lowering trash output, emissions from manufacturing/shipping, resource use, as well as healthcare costs over years thanks to avoided toxin exposure. Eco-friendly options pay dividends through years of use.

Materials Used in Eco-Friendly Kitchenware
Hardwoods
Hardwoods like acacia, beech, mango, maple, and oak are naturally durable, water-resistant woods that make for long-lasting utensils, cutting boards, bowls, and more. Their strength comes from dense cellular structures. Responsibly sourced from suppliers adhering to regenerative forestry practices, these woods can biodegrade, unlike synthetics. Acacia is one lighter hardwood gaining popularity for ease of care. Denser woods like maple resist knife nicks during meal preps. Well-oiled hardwood surfaces also inhibit germ growth for food safety.
Stainless Steel
A preferred eco-metal for flatware and cookware is stainless steel which mixes iron, chromium, and nickel for rust/corrosion resistance and hygienic properties. Unlike aluminum and copper, stainless steel does not leach metal components during food cooking and prep. Thanks to its durability and being infinitely recyclable without losing integrity, stainless kitchenware has much longer lifespans than plastics with fewer impacts from remanufacturing. Eco-friendly production methods utilize recycled content to further reduce its footprint.
Glass
Made predominantly from recycled glass mixed with sustainable ingredients like limestone and soda ash, glassware avoids toxins associated with certain plastics as no chemicals interact with foods/drinks. Stackable containers enable space efficiency. Being impermeable to gases and liquids makes glass ideal for storing and reheating leftovers safely. Its recyclability also minimizes waste. Options like borosilicate glass withstand rapid shifts between extreme temperatures.
Cast Iron & Copper
Cast iron made from recycled scrap iron offers peerless heat retention perfect for energy-efficient cooking via pan frying and baking. Naturally non-stick when properly seasoned, cast iron pans outlast most other cookware types with proper care over decades. Copper also excels at conduction and lasts when well maintained. Impactful when recycled, both metals can be fully restored for reuse instead of ending up in landfills.
Conclusion
As we've explored, filling your kitchen with eco-friendly wares made from renewable, recycled, and responsibly sourced materials has resounding positive impacts. By opting for green kitchen tools and dinnerware, you minimize environmental harm associated with standard plastics and synthetic materials from production through end-of-life. Choosing natural, non-toxic finishes and lead-free glassware also protects your family's health and safety by avoiding toxin contamination of food. The takeaway is clear - we all need to be more conscious of only having one planet with precious few resources to sustain our consumption and waste habits. Start making small but meaningful changes wherever possible, like finding Greener alternatives to outdated kitchenware. Prioritize renewable, recycled, and responsibly sourced materials first.
Here at OGGN homes, we create high-quality, sustainable cooking and dining products designed to leave a lighter footprint for generations. Tired of ironing taking up your valuable time? A professional ironing service in your area
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/31602e69911ec31c44ec5b5763d337fc/42c104200dc64b95-cc/s540x810/fd5f1645077458a2834f0da1c2233506cf833576.jpg)
We are certain that smartly ironed garments are compulsory in every sphere of life. If ironing must be done, why not get it done well by the experts? Doorstep-free services to collect and deliver, perhaps on the same day, make it very convenient. You do not go out to them, but they come to you via the app. Communication happens in minutes! A professional ironing service near me is just what every family and business requires. The committed and reliable service does much more than ironing. Washing and dry cleaning, dress alterations, and shoe repairs at the same venue take care of the entire personality from head to toe.
Take a break with ironing services in London
Those busy with lots of ironing must be breaking their heads over it. Like it or detest it, a large family will need hours of ironing, perhaps once a week. Even then, the dresses may not look good. Sharp creases, fresh looks, and an attractive fragrance make good impressions in professional settings. No wonder so many perfumes are required, which keeps the industry busy. While it is easy to press a few garments, doing it all the time makes labels bothersome. Very busy lives only result in frustration with too many tasks to get done at home or in the office amidst limited time.
