You ate in silence, unsure of what to say, unsure of Andy. You felt him still and the tingly shadow of his touch made you sick. He watched you, unspoken thoughts behind his blue eyes, his anxiety showed in the way he scratched his beard and chewed without tasting. You stood to rinse off your empty plate but he kept you from moving past the table.
He met you and took your dish, “I’ll get it,” he said, “The doctor said you need to take it easy.”
“I can wash a plate, Andy,” you insisted as you reached for the porcelain.
“No,” he swatted your hand down, “go, relax. Let me take care of you.”
You squinted at him and searched his face; his squared jaw, the vein along his forehead that always popped out when he was frustrated, his thick brows without tension as he watched you placidly. You dropped your hand and backed away. He turned and put your plate on top of his. He paused and rubbed his fingertips with his thumb; the two he’d used on you.
You backed away in revulsion and left him in the dining room. You went to the couch and grabbed the remote. You put it back on the television stand and headed for the stairs. You couldn’t shake what he’d done. It was all you could think of.
You closed yourself in the guest room. Not your room, the room he allowed you. You had to remind yourself of that reality. Andy was still a stranger, he let you under his roof because a stupid mistake, he was married, even his wife was comatose. He wasn’t your husband and you didn’t want him to be. He was the father of your child by the grace of your bad luck.
You loaded up a season of an old sitcom on your laptop and sat it beside you on the bed. You laid back and rubbed your stomach, satisfied but precarious. Your nausea came and went but your aches and pains were more and more constant. You groaned and laid on your side, the blankets drawn up to your chest as you tried to lose yourself in the dialogue you knew almost by rote.
You heard Andy climb the stairs. He stopped by your door but didn’t open it, even as you held your breath in anticipation. His door clicked and shortly that of the conjoined bathroom opened. The showerhead whined and the pipes buzzed. You felt the humid warmth seep from beneath the door. You kept your back to it and turned up the volume.
When the shower stopped, you could hear his soft movements. You smelled his woodsy body wash and the clean scent of shampoo. The mirror unclasped as he opened it and he turned on the sink faucet. As much as you wanted to pretend he wasn’t there, he had to make himself known.
Then the knock made you flinch. Your heart stuttered and you wiggled down further on the bed. You pulled the blanket over your shoulder and huddled into the pillow. You closed your eyes and pretended to sleep as he knocked again.
“You need anything?” he asked through the wood.
You still didn’t answer. If you told him what you needed was for him to leave you alone, that wouldn’t help either of you. You turned your head down and waited. The clasp of the door clicked and you felt the subtle breeze of the door opening. You tensed as his light footsteps neared you; cautious and careful.
You felt him behind you. His fingers tickled your sleeve and he gripped your shoulder more firmly. You fought to stay still, not to show that you knew. He turned and sat on the edge of the bed as he rubbed your arm. He sighed and his hand slipped down to your stomach. He spread his long fingers across your middle.
He stayed like that for a moment then stood again. He strode around the foot of the bed and closed your laptop. The laugh track died and you saw him through the thin slit of your eyelids. He wore nothing but the towel around his waist. His stomach was lined with muscle and his arms were muscled and firm. He hesitated then retraced his path.
The bathroom door closed behind him and his feet continued across the tile. His door closed in kind and you let out your breath. You had almost five months left in this prison and your warden was not going to ease up any time soon.
🌙
Your new life, your new sentence, fell into routine quickly. You woke up, sometimes sick, you ate as Andy readied for work, you argued or sat silently, he left, and you wandered the house restlessly, or walked down the street in a similar state, you ate again, he came home, you tried to busy yourself with chores when he allowed it, then sat for dinner, and made an excuse to retreat for bed.
He hadn’t touched you again, not like he had. He rubbed your shoulders, your hips when you let him, but you kept your distance mostly. His ring remained gone and his eyes clung to you longer, staring, thinking, but never saying what was behind them.
Another appointment and you sat beside him. Your leg jiggled anxiously and he grabbed your knee to still it. You apologized and as was becoming your habit, rested your hand on your growing bump. Your shirts were too tight now and he’d lent you one of his, though it was too loose around the shoulder and too long at the bottom.
“I know you’re not a Sox fan,” he nodded to the emblem on your chest, “we’ll have to get you something more you. Something that fits.”
“It’s fine, I’ll hit the goodwill and--”
“No, you won’t,” he said pointedly, “you’re not gonna be wearing hand-me-downs.”
“I won’t need them after… hopefully, so why--”
Your name was called by the nurse and Andy stood before you, as edgy as you but not as obvious about it. He grabbed your arm and helped you to your feet. You wiggled free of his grasp and he followed behind you as you went with the nurse. She sat to ask you some questions, took your vitals, then handed you a gown.
“The doctor will be in soon for the ultrasound,” she said, “just get on the bed and wait.”
You smiled and she left. You looked at Andy as he sat in the chair beside the bed and twiddled his fingers on his thigh. He shifted and glanced at you.
“Think we find out today,” he smiled.
“Find out?” you neared the open bathroom door.
“If it’s a boy or a girl,” he said, “I’ve been thinking, I… a girl would be nice.”
You gulped, speechless. You hadn’t been thinking about that. Not at all. Another sign you were completely unready. You turned and shut yourself in the bathroom to change. When you were done, you came out and got on the bed. Andy stood to help but you shooed him away, tired of him thinking you incapable of anything.
You laid back and puffed. He reached for your hand and squeezed, “you okay?”
You stared at his grip but didn’t pull away, “fine.”
“You know, you don’t have to be so shy. I mean, considering what happened in that stall--”
“Andy,” you rolled your eyes, “enough, okay? I just wanna get this over with.”
He was quiet for a minute then let go of your hand. “Get what over with? The appointment or the pregnancy?”
Both, you thought. You looked to the window and let the glare of the sun make your eyes well, “why do you do that?”
“Do what?” he asked.
“You make everything a fight,” you looked straight ahead and let your shoulders slump in defeat, “I’m so done with it.”
“I don’t mean to, I worry and… you don’t talk to me.”
“You don’t listen so why should I?” you threw your hands up, “please, I don’t wanna do this right now.”
He nodded and crossed his arms. The rigid silence returned but shattered as a knock came at the door and the doctor entered. Dr. Xiu smiled and rolled up the stool as she held your chart.
“Well, I heard about your little visit to emerge,” she began, “but your vitals are looking great.”
You listened as Andy leaned forward intently.
“We’ll just get a look inside today, make sure everything is where it should be,” she said, “maybe even see if it’s a boy or a girl, if you’re curious?”
“Alright,” you fidgeted and she closed your chart, “yeah, Id rather know.”
“I’ll call for the radiologist then we can begin,” she went to the phone and dialed an extension, saying a few words into the receiver before replacing it.
She closed the shutters over the window and stood by the door as another figure in scrubs entered. The technician introduced herself as Lacey and pulled the ultrasound machine nearer as she claimed the stool. Andy touched your shoulder as he leaned on the bed.
Lacey warned you the gel might be cold but you still winced as she squirted it onto your stomach and spread it with the wand. She pressed firmly as she moved it around, searching. She watched the screen closely and smiled.
“Ah, right here,” she pointed to the little blob, though you could hardly tell one shape from the rest, “that’s your baby.”
Andy squeezed your shoulder and stared at the screen. His lips parted as if in a trance and Lacey moved the wand again.
“And… it’s…” she dragged out her words, “a baby girl.”
Andy exhaled loudly and you were surprised as he bent over to kiss your temple. You didn’t show how uncomfortable you were and he smiled at the screen again.
“A girl,” he said, “amazing.”
“She’s looking good,” Lacey said, “we’ll send some images for closer inspection but I see nothing to be concerned about.”
You took a breath and she pulled the wand away. She wiped you up with the rough white towel and left it with you to do the rest as she cleaned the wand. Lacey and Dr. Xiu left you to get dressed and be on your way. You sat up and finished mopping up the gel.
“Well, you called it,” you said as you tossed the towel in the linen hamper.
“Aren’t you excited?” he asked.
“Excited?” you gave a brittle smile, “more scared.”
“Why? Why won’t you let me help you?”
“Andy,” you breathed as you headed for the restroom to get out of the gown, “you’ve helped me. A lot. You can’t help this.”
You pursed your lips and closed the door. You stared in the mirror as you changed, the grey shirt hung from you but your stomach was still visibly round. You pulled on your hoodie, unable to zip it up and balled up the flowered gown. A daughter, great. Now it was even more real. Even more terrifying.
🌙
After your appointment, you stood in the elevator and the ding of each floor lulled your exhausted mind. You just wanted to go home and lay down. You hated how even the smallest outing drained you. You hated how weak you felt. You hated how the man beside you kept grabbing at your hand.
The doors opened and Andy pulled you forward. You stopped and he kept his arm in front of the door as he looked back at you. You stared at the lit up number.
“This is the wrong floor,” you said, “we went up.”
“No, it’s not,” he reached for you again and you evaded him.
“Andy, what’s going on?”
“Come on,” he said, “you’re holding the elevator up.”
You peeked around at the several riders who tried not to stare as their faces were painted with their impatience. You stepped off and grabbed Andy’s arm without thinking as you read the sign that pointed down the east wing; Intensive Care Unit.
“Why are we here?” you asked thinly.
He was quiet. You watched his throat bob and he twisted his hand to take yours. He pushed his fingers between yours and led you through the halls. He knew the place, knew where he was going. The elation that had dusted his cheeks with pink faded and now he was pale with grief.
“No,” you gasped in realisation and tried to plant your feet, “Andy, don’t-- I can’t--”
“It’s fine,” he said as he tugged you. You stumbled forward as he didn’t let up.
“No, it’s not. Your wife--”
“My wife is dead,” he hissed as he turned on you, “she’s been dead for more than a year. She’s nothing, just… a body. It’s not her, it’s the machines. She’s gone. I’ve known that.”
“Please, I--” you took a shaky breath, “I can’t be here--”
“You have to,” he said, “you have to be here,” he looked down and shook his head, “I don’t have anyone else.”
Your heart dropped. This man, this hardened lawyer, your keeper, was suddenly all too human. You frowned and ran your thumb along his, “okay,” you whispered, “okay, we’ll see her.”
His cheek twitched but he didn’t look at you. He turned down the hall and you let him lead you around the corner. He greeted the woman at the square desk, “Barber, room 304, Dr. Landau is expecting me for 1:15.”
“Mr. Barber,” she read off her computer, “yes, I’ll page him. If you want to go wait there.”
She gave a pitiful smile and you walked along dumbly. All these months, this is what Andy did. He walked those sterile halls and sat with his lifeless wife, listened to the beeps of her only supports on the mournfully silent floor. He opened the door and let go of you as he entered.
You trailed behind as he went to her bed. He stared at her, her pale skin, her dark hair, a husk as the wires at her wrists and nose, the tube down her throat, were all that kept her body going. You stood beside the door and folded your hands over your chest.
“I’m sorry, Andy,” you said quietly.
He looked back at you but you were startled by his expression. You expected sadness or pain, even anger. He was blank and almost mechanical in his movements as he turned back to her again. He touched her cheek then quickly retracted his hand.
A knock came on the open door and a man in a white coat appeared, his white hair was wispy and wild.
“Andrew,” he greeted Andy with a handshake then eyed you curiously, “and you brought--”
“A friend,” Andy said and gave your name as he took the doctor’s hand, “didn’t wanna be alone.”
“I understand,” Dr. Landau said grimly, “it’s… always a difficult situation. Knowing when it’s going to end.”
“It’s better this way,” Andy said, “her family can be at peace now. Me, too.”
“It’s a tough decision but it’s not made lightly. Andrew, there’s no one, even me, who can say you’re wrong.”
“Thank you,” he sniffed and backed away from the bed, “I’m ready. I said goodbye.”
“Let me get the technicians and we’ll start the process,” Landau clapped Andy’s shoulder before he could pass, then the doctor turned to face you, “you’re a good friend to see him through this.”
You just nodded, unsure of what to say. You were bowled over at the situation and as the realisation of what was about to happen descended on you, your legs went weak. You leaned against the wall as Andy grabbed your hand and stood beside you.
“Please,” Landau gestured past you, “sit, if you need.”
You didn’t move as the doctor left. Andy pulled on you until your legs responded and you walked blindly with him to the pair of chairs against the wall. You sat and he took his hand from yours to rub your back.
“You okay? Nauseous?” he asked, “your hips bugging you again?”
“Andy,” your lip trembled, “why did you bring me here for this?”
His eyes searched yours and he smiled at you as if you were dumb, “so we can move on. So we can start our family.”

Acylius sat quietly in his lab as the clock ticked and machines whirred softly, a subtle beep every now and again.
With only a bright desk lamp for his current studies.
Hunched over, knuckles white with clenched fists, he was so tired, everything ached.
When Amadeus had asked him to escort him back to his office, he'd wanted to, not just that but he'd wanted to take his hand and guide him there.
Flug knew Hat could walk these halls as if everything was fine but that instinctual part that screamed at him to protect what he loved...what he could not have, what did not want him.
Of course he'd not exactly mentioned that orders had been sent too all the Hat bots to make sure all rugs and possible tripping hazards had been removed.
There were jars of Black Hats eyes lined on the shelf, Amadeus had been hopeless hoping that if he kept removing the blind eye one would grow back with full sight.
Looking up at them he had a slight feeling that if not for their affliction they would be staring back.
Amadeus had even allowed him to try removing an eye, once surgically, the other with long claws tracing the socket and plucking it out, even then the old demons eye grew with a ring of blue around his pupil, blind as ever.
Reaching for one jar he looked over it, they swirled like pickled eggs in old victorian sweet jars.
How sweetly Amadeus had leaned into his palm and surprisingly trusted him to take out the eye.
How sweetly Amadeus had leaned into his palm and surprisingly trusted him to take out the eye, it was painful not only to watch but to him as well, why only now was he showing those tender signs of wanting to be close.
After all those beings he’d so openly mocked after bedding them, yes of course it up to Amadeus what he did with his life, he couldn’t tell him what to do, maybe more it just made him feel shame for feeling anything for him at all.
His master was a free creature after all…but there had been so many moments, those tense, who’s going to make the first move, should we kiss, should we touch, little signals that perhaps Black Hat liked him, but after all the displays on how he’d treat someone, Acylius had never given into them.
He’d clenched his jaw, hands in a tight grip and stood up straight managing to walk off each time.
And each time something had cracked in him…he knew despite the fifty years he’d worked here…one day he might just break and submit…and then perhaps regret everything.
It made Acylius’s heart ache, every time he’d come even remotely close to admitting to Amadeus the storm that raged within him something always came up, interrupted what could have possibly been, another thing he’d come to perhaps understand was that they were simply never meant to be.
Pulling up his doctor’s mask, his silver framed goggles already down he inspected the current sample, turning the eye to face him.
His goggles had a functioning computer system, the read outs showing across the lenses that only he could see, zooming in, reading how the slit pupil would pulse at times, no surprise that it was still alive it did belong to an ancient being born before even the light had been created.
Acylius was a little embarrassed to admit that in one incident he’d been reaching for the boiled eggs with his lunch only to realise what he’d been eating was one of the many eyes he’d had close by, yes the flavour had been surprisingly pleasant…
Most peculiar though was how later he’d found a jar full with a blue around them.
He’d wondered if it’d been some kind of prank…but that bow had been in a shade of blue that only very few could see which happened to be his favourite, Acylius was sure that it was actually one that Hat before his loss of sight couldn’t see and only registered it as gray.
Was it some strange gesture of gratitude for all his work…no he didn’t even want to think for a second that Amadeus could appreciate him to that extent.
This was clearly some act of desperation, offering anything to get him to stay and work on this project, which Acylius fully intended to, but when he’d found the cure he was leaving he couldn’t stay like this forever, he didn’t want bribes or gifts, just to get his damn work done.
His ears twitched, so he wasn’t alone, he knew the presence of solitary darkness and empty shadows well enough that Amadeus had made an arrival within them, at least only in essence as if waiting for an invitation or acknowledgment that he was even there, despite everything there was some fondness in which he dubbed him Jefecito, after all he didn’t exactly hate him.
Still he knew how to ignore it, to act as if it were not there at all, let him have his little stalking game.
Twisting the purple cord still connected to the eyeball, trying to find any imperfection, to see if it was similar to a loose wire…pffft how simple it would be if all he needed was an operation to tighten the optic nerve, of course this wasn’t the case.
Strangely enough though when each specimen finally died, the ring of blue around each pupil disappeared which was certainly a perplexing thing, why only then, was it more to do with something within the demon himself and again the word demon was such a simple thing to call him, Eldericht horror was a closer name in reality but even then he was so much more.
His jaw tensed.
Please.
Please could Black Hat just leave him the fuck alone right now, he couldn’t be near him, that stupid kiss still lingered on his lips, he hated it, hated how it’d been no more than some stupid power play to piss off Thaddeus as if it was some stupid sing song of ‘ I have a Legion demon and you don’t na na na naaah’.
His grip tightened and he sighed, wiping off his hands and tossing the remains of that specimen in the bin and taking out another.
This time he found he could not pretend Black Hat wasn’t there haunting him, he turned the new specimen over again, squeezing gently, the texture felt akin to some sort of gummy treat.
Placing it down on the metal tray he used a needle to insert a micro camera inside which was controlled by his goggles, it was like those virtual reality games, swimming through what looked like pink champagne with all the little bubbles in the shape of top hats, it still made him roll his eyes to see all the cells in that shape, was it for fun or did the top hat shape literally have deeper meaning that after so many years had simply become a form of fashion, he didn’t know and while he was somewhat curious, he was not curious enough to care.
Sometimes Acylius did wonder as he explored through their inner workings, what long lost things Amadeus had seen, what worlds, what universes as life must have bloomed all around him and died in the same vein.
How silly he himself had once been to ever toy with the idea that Amadeus would even want him and only him when he’d seen such divine and decadent things, in comparison he was in no doubt simple and boring. To dream that he would solely cling on to him and he would be the one to make Amadeus settle with his feet firmly on the ground by his side…wasn’t that a selfish desire?
There were nights though Amadeus had crawled into his bed…no doubt because he was conveniently there, in the beginning he’d feigned sleep and turned to hold him, now he would stay still no matter how the old demon had tried to gently coax him to turn.
This was Black Hat master of manipulation, Acylius had reached that point after the first twenty five years in which he would stay up for days just to avoid those moment until he had no choice but to sleep, un able to bear Black Hat coming in and having to pretend he didn’t know what he did, it wasn’t because he didn’t want it…it was because all he wanted to do was hold him close and bury his face against his neck and just keep him there.
At times even now he STILL surrendered and curled all six ft seven of himself around Black Hat, holding him close, he’d held him close to his chest, the smaller demon would try to tempt some form of response from him in his supposed sleeping form, but that was as far as Acylius would give in to, he wasn’t playing Amadeus’s long game, he wasn’t going to be another notch in that bed of his.
Was this just a possessive way of his boss leaving his scent on his to let the world know who owned him , perhaps he’d done this with Demencia to, it wouldn’t surprise him.
Acylius continued through the intricate makings of Black Hats eye trying to see if there was some detail he’d missed, his claws drummed against the table, hoping Black Hat wasn’t currently reading his thoughts...could he even do that…sometimes he thought maybe he might but if so, the old demon would have known long ago what he thought and felt and no doubt made a mockery of it.
There was some stupid comfort he had was that Black Hat did not seem to actually dip into the office ink so maybe their moments had simply been taunting ones or an ancient beast in a playful mood otherwise he’d have had Demencia by now considering how she’d practically thrown herself at him repeatedly, honestly with their destructive nature they would be well suited but maybe it was just as simple as because Black Hat had not convinced him to part his legs yet.
Alright yes it was an arrogant thought that it was because of that but fucking hell let him have his petty comforts in this ridiculous game that never seemed to end and it’s finish only resulting in broken hearts and jaded hope.
He would be a conquest that Black Hat would NEVER get, his name was not going to be etched amongst the hundreds of other who so willingly had fallen into his trap and felt the public humiliation that came with it.
Turning the camera inside the eye, searching along every chain of cells, he was desperate to find some answer, then he could leave Black Hat manor let the old bastard move on to Demencia and find some sense of peace.
It would be better for everyone.
Doctor Flug curled in on himself just a little, pausing inhaling and slowly exhaling, that thought stung, they really would be better without him and at least he could try to move on, start to heal the emotionally open wounds he always worked so hard to conceal, he was just so tired, so worn in ways rest could not repair.
Because as much as he denied it to the world he knew the truth in what he felt even when he so desperately tried to deny it to himself, he would always love Amadeus Black Hat, he would be his first love and his last, but he could not stay here, there was no reason to after this, he’d spoken to White Hat and he was going to do whatever it took to find or get information.
Whatever Thaddeus wanted, be it sex, free labour, his blood in small vials to be handed out as good luck fine. White Hat was not a despicable creature and perhaps if he had nothing there was always Grey Hat who was more secluded in nature, maybe Emery had something to share?
Acylius was going to do what it took to keep his promise and that was that.
He allowed himself to sink into the beauty of the structure he was exploring pink and gold hues glowing softly as the cells shimmered swirling like liquid glitter, still he could feel the shadow tentacles behind him growing closer, it was Black Hat feeling his way across the room, careful not to knock anything over.
Amadeus just wanted to be closer to the being who sat there so quietly, who seemed so sad, he had no clue as to what ailed him but he didn’t like it.
“What are you doing in my lab sir?”
Acylius asked, not even looking up from his study, allowing the small camera to travel down into the optic nerve, it was such an intricate network, he’d be lying if he said Black Hat’s body wasn’t scientifically beautiful to him. Once or twice he’d even considered asking if he could open him up and explore his insides but feared Amadeus would see that as an open invite to more than just a scientific study…thing was it probably would have led to more and that was why he’d resisted ever enquiring upon the matter.
“I did not want to be alone.”
The old demon admitted plainly, though of course confessing such a thing he knew could leave him emotionally vulnerable.
With the world currently being eternal darkness, the silence had been too much, too suffocating, he could still feel that kiss and had not one clue that Flug was still thinking on it to.
“There are Hat bots and butlers who could help you.”
Hat winced at the coldness of Acylius’s tone but showed no other indication that it affected him.
“Please as if I could converse with one of those drones.”
Hat scoffed, taking another few steps closer.
“Then 505.”
Flug returned flatly.
“He cannot talk.”
Amadeus froze, perhaps it had been foolish to answer that, he could literally hear the frown on Flugs face over the chair scraping on the tiled floor as he now stood in front of him, bent down and staring straight at him as his voice lost an edge of its humanity and growled.
“And whose fault is that.”
“Mine.”
The dead silence between them that followed than answer, Hat almost wondered for a second if Acylius had left, but his warmth and heart beat were still too close by to believe it.
“That is the first time you have ever admitted that Amadeus without sounding so pleased with yourself, but it will get you no closer to having me, you could easily seek out Demencia, you might learn she’s far more rational than you give her credit for.”
Black Hat already knew that, she had figured out that Hat was in love with Acylius and promised not to say anything lest it make things more complicated between the old creature and the Legion demon.
'But she’s not you…'
Amadeus thought, god, his internal voice around Flug was so meek at times he wondered if it was even the same person, he wanted to reach his hand out and hope the doctor would take it in his, of course his reasoning told him that was not what his doctor wanted…Acylius had not hidden his looks of disappointment as well as he’d thought he had.
Black Hat had seen Legion demons before, they never seem to favour those who seemed weak, who would give up everything, yes while he was far greater in power than Acylius, all he’d seen in those from the past that these were almost on par with his power just in ways different than his own.
These were powerful creatures who had to be shown that whoever intended to court them would be good strong mates who needed nothing, that they could be just as alluring just as seductive, not some fragile thing that longed for tender intimacy…what would Acylius ever think if he knew he’d crawled into his bed because he needed to be held by him before he was drowned in his own pain.
Feeling a hand clasp around his arm he breathed again, pulling him from his thoughts and back to the surface of some sense of sanity, it was gentle how Acylius guided him to the chair beside his own, he half expected him to just pull him along like he were some screaming brat he was tired of.
“Flug I-“
“Quiet or I will put you on the table, I am still trying to find a cure for you, which I’m sure you have not forgotten, you can stay but do not expect much conversation.”
A part of him wanted to wipe Acylius’s desk clean and lay out on it, fucking hell if that was what it took for him to touch him then so be it, the very idea of his hands, claws exposing every part of him, examining every inch of him with sharp scalpels and tools, to be under such intense study under those eyes he’d never even seen, the man was mad enough to even sleep with a mask on when he went to bed and it drove him insane!
Only out of respect had he never even peeked under that stupid paper bag, but even then he knew that wouldn’t have been Acylius’s real face and after causing Flug to split his head open a few days earlier by shoving him causing him to trip backwards and smack his head on Demencia’s amp… because he thought he was being disrespectful because he wasn’t hiding his face now simply because he was blind…who was he to even ask what it looked like...he could have even takwna chance to try and find some small detail that he would only know but his temper had gotten the better of him again.
Hat nodded though at Acylius’s words, he’d wanted to thank him for not pushing him away, of course he could stay if he bloody well pleased, but if Acylius wanted silence in this moment…he’d try to respect that.
