The article "Ma Deuce ā The M2 .50-Caliber Machine Gun" by Will Dabbs, MD, published by The Armory Life, delves into the history and significance of the iconic M2 Browning .50-caliber machine gun, commonly known as "Ma Deuce." It highlights the weapon's origins, tracing back to American General John J. "Black Jack" Pershing's need during World War I for a machine gun capable of confronting German observation aircraft. Designed by John Moses Browning and further developed to address velocity shortcomings, the M2 became the longest-serving firearm in U.S. military history. Featuring a .50 BMG round, it offers significant firepower and versatility, finding use on tanks, ships, aircraft, and with ground forces. The article also discusses the M2's adaptations for aerial combat, its upgrade to the M2A1 model for improved performance, and its continued deployment across various military platforms, maintaining its status as a vital component of U.S. military firepower for over a century.

Denmark to Upgrade Its CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicles - Technology Org
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/denmark-to-upgrade-its-cv90-infantry-fighting-vehicles-technology-org/
Denmark to Upgrade Its CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicles - Technology Org
Denmark has ordered the defence contractor BAE Systems to upgrade its fleet of CV9035DK infantry fighting vehicles. These vehicles will receive many important upgrades, designed to help them to keep up with the demands of modern warfare.
CV9035DK infantry fighting vehicles are great weapons in the arsenal of the Royal Danish Army and they should continue serving for a couple of decades more.
CV9035DK is a Danish version of the Swedish infantry fighting vehicle CV90. Image credit: Pfc. Shardesia Washington via Wikimedia
The Royal Danish Army uses infantry fighting vehicles CV90. The CV90 ( Combat Vehicle 90 or strf 90) was designed in the late 1980s and entered service in 1994. Although it is technically a Swedish weapon, it is produced by BAE Systems AB, which will upgrade the Danish machines. Denmark is using the CV9035DK, which is an export version of the CV90 with a 35mm Bushmaster III autocannon.
Similar infantry fighting vehicles are used in the Netherlands, where they are designated CV9035NL, but are essentially the same thing. However, the CV9035NL already has a new turret and now the CV9035DK will get it too.
The Bushmaster III is a serious autocannon that fires 200 rounds per minute. The armour of Russian BMPs can be pierced through with no problem whatsoever, and if they hit well (that is, from the side) these rounds can even go through main battle tanks. But still, itās time to upgrade its turret.
The Danish defence procurement organization DALO commissioned BAE Systems to modernize the fleet of CV9035DK infantry fighting vehicles. Denmark has been using 44 CV9035DKs for about 20 years now and would now like to upgrade them from the ground up. This will be a mid-life update, which could mean that these infantry fighting vehicles will be good for another two decades. War machines last a long time when there is no war.
The main upgrade for the CV9035DKs will be new turrets, but they will also receive lighter and quieter rubber composite tracks, better protection and mobility. The first upgraded infantry fighting vehicles will return to Denmark in 2026, the rest until 2029.
Whatās so special about those new turrets? BAE Systems developed them some time ago and Dutch machines already use them. They have many improvements. For example, the position of the main gun has been adjusted to better balance the vehicle and to provide new opportunities to integrate other weapon systems (for example, anti-tank missiles).
According to the manufacturer, the new turret is also more ergonomic for the crew. This should not be overlooked, because soldiers can be more efficient when they are more comfortable.
It is good to remind people that while main battle tanks are great, it is infantry fighting vehicles that perform the majority of the tasks in todayās combat. Denmark has 44 CV9035DKs and 44 Leopard 2A7DK main battle tanks.

The telltale signs...
...that you have been a 'mech pilot for too long:
You stay away from bonfires, barbecues or even opening ovens because feeling more heat on your skin than sunlight sends you into a nervous panic.
The world seems overwhelming and confusing when there is no HUD to look at it through. Your gaze sometimes drifts to where your GPS system should be when you need to find your way somewhere.
You stop thinking in the cockpit. Young pilots can move and think at the same time; the more time you spend, the more you realize you need to just empty your mind. Clean mirrors reflect clearest.
You can tell at a glance how many tons of metal a building could hold up- or, well, should be able to. (Contractors cut corners, after all; you can never be completely certain.)
You start hating cats, or most small and frisky animals, because something moving unexpectedly in the lower edge of your vision has been a 'mech-hunter infantry team too many times.
You go in for crunchier or chewy foods just to be as far as possible from sipping on a nutrient juice pack.
Your actual, physical body hurting from something like stubbing your toe or hitting your head on a doorway has become a bizarre sensation compared to the pure brain-pain of damage feedback.
You can still feel "your" missile pods, or jump-jets, or similar, when you're outside of your 'mech. At times, like that sudden, illusory feeling of falling as you go to sleep, you get phantom recoil from weaponry systems.
You stop aiming for the cockpit. It stops being about salvage money for a mostly-intact 'mech, or giving a clean death to whoever is behind that glass: if you have to shoot off every gun and missile piece by piece to make it out alive, you will.
You have learned what it feels like to crush a human body underfoot. (Gritty and brittle, mostly. Unpleasant.)

Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close š¤ to the hyperlinks limit on this thing š]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

WRITING IN GENERAL (For those who don't want to die like Stormtroopers)
SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

First, this shows a delusional lack of understanding of Hamas by a former Israeli general. Hamas is neither pleased to see its own people destroyed (all of its fighters are Gazans, born and raised there. The people being killed their relatives, friends and neighbours) nor is it worried about Gazans 'rising in rebellion.' Why would Gazans rebel against their own resistance movement instead of the IDF? I know some people are going to say, 'Eiland is trying to soothe a dissatisfied Israeli public,' but earlier today, the IDF released a statement about Yusuf al-Mansi who is being held and tortured.
They're not just targeting Western audiences by trying to blame their crimes on Hamas, they're also trying to convince Gazans.
Look at all the dumb decisions made by the IDF - tanks with no infantry support, urban warfare against a guerilla army with an extensive tunnel system, letting their soldiers filming themselves (which both alienates the world and gives away their location), lying very incompetently about the war crimes it commits (like the siege and destruction of Al Shifa Hospital), releasing videos of IDF fighters shooting at walls, furniture, the air itself, etc and that's just in Gaza. The Israel government is now threatening to start war in Lebanon and fight the Ansar Allah group in Yemen the same time.
Secondly this signals that Israel has no intention of ending the siege soon. While Gazans are at risk of mass starvation, the real threat is disease, particularly illnesses like typhoid, cholera and dysentery.
We must not stop demanding that Gazans get sufficient humanitarian aid (not 20 measly trucks of expired food)

Simon āGhostā Riley Headcannons
A/N: these are loosely inspired from real life experiences Iāve had living on a military base, these men have a on & off switch itās crazy
Simon āGhostā Riley x F! Reader
Warnings: NSFW
ā¢ Simon first saw you while he was in the States for a training exercise, he was out at one of the local bars with some of the other soldiers he was with
ā¢ Soap had actually asked for your number first & since he was so intoxicated you turned him down
ā¢ Simon apologized for Soap & thatās how you met
ā¢ he did have a heart attack when he found out there was a bit of a age gap between you two but quickly got over it when he realized how mature you were
ā¢ it was a long distance relationship at first (from personal experience it sucks in the beginning)
ā¢ there were times when he couldnāt talk due to the risk of potentially exposing his teams location so you had to write letters every now & then
ā¢ you cried constantly whenever you saw some horrific news in the paper about what was going on overseas, the anxiety was awful
ā¢ but when he returned the reunions were euphoric
ā¢ you have a bottle of his cologne & aftershave so you can always feel close to him
ā¢ and youād spray your perfume on the letters you sent so he couldnāt always smell the paper when he was missing you
ā¢ it took him sometime to open up to you about what had happened to him in his past, & your respected that
ā¢ when he first met your family, he was shocked by all the support he had received from them
ā¢ he asked your parents to marry you the first time he met them & showed them the ring too (ofc they said yes)
ā¢ he proposed to you in private after a nice dinner, he got choked up during the proposal
ā¢ your dad specifically was elated, he got to brag at how bad ass his son in law is
ā¢ your mom if sheās a teacher, had her entire class send cards, candy, anything theyād need in care packages Soap nearly cried when he opened the sweetest letter from a little girl (this actually happened irl my momās class did this & one guy got really choked up)
ā¢ Simon always would be your fiercest protector
ā¢ since heās like an freakin tree he will guide your head with his bear paw of a hand in crowds
ā¢he CANNOT sit with his back facing the door it stresses him out
ā¢this man is strapped 24/7 whether that be a knife, bear spray etc. heās ready
ā¢he has a trauma kit in his car because āyou never knowā
ā¢Simon is 1000% one of those apocalypse preppers you have freeze dried food, medicine, water, etc. heās always on edge
ā¢ he sleeps with a damn rifle next to yāallās bed
ā¢ you have a whole security system too
ā¢ your guyās apartment is impeccable like you could eat off of the floor
ā¢ hell your guyās bed has damn hospital corners
ā¢ Simon adopted a cat so you donāt feel as lonely when heās deployed
ā¢ Heās your chonky boy & you do send plenty of photos to Simon when heās deployed
ā¢ Gaz & Soap tease him about him living his ācat dadā life
ā¢ you start trying for a baby two years into your marriage
ā¢ Simon does fall victim to the ācurse of the infantryā (which is not a negative thing btw itās a running joke that infantry soldiers have all daughters) he makes girls
ā¢ he was deployed during your pregnancy & was worried sick he nearly missed the birth of your daughter
ā¢ that little girl is the most well protected baby in the whole world, the Task Force gifted him not just baby stuff but damn security for the nursery
ā¢ He watches your baby from his phone in the nursery on deployment, he was silently crying once when he was watching you sing a lullaby to your baby girl
ā¢Price had to comfort him father to father
ā¢In reality Simon has a very hard cold exterior at work for the sake of keeping his mental health for the profession heās in but deep down heās always held a soft spot & your relationship just brings it out
āØNSFW āØ
ā¢ there is a big size difference between you two & it drives him insane
ā¢ the first time yāall had together he didnāt want to break you in half
ā¢ when he returns from deployment yāall go at it like rabbits for multiple rounds, your poor pussy was so sore afterwards
ā¢ has a massive corruption & daddy kink
ā¢ heās an ass man I donāt make the rules here so any position where your ass if the focal point is his favorite
ā¢ yāall have made so many sex tapes for him when heās deployed, he has a whole folder on his phone & jerks off to them in the bathroom or the porta potty (itās a canon event, trust me) to them
ā¢ he lets your cockwarm him constantly when youāre on the couch, when heās working, hell yāall had even fallen asleep like that
ā¢ I know people say he has a Prince Albert piercing but alas per army regulation that is safety risk I think itās more likely heād use a cock ring on you
ā¢ during a military ball you two snuck off & fucked in a supply closet
ā¢ he couldnāt wait to get back to the hotel room after seeing you in your gown, it was red his favorite color
ā¢ and he just looked so fucking good in his dress uniform, that was the night you totally conceived your baby girl
ā¢ he groans into your ear when he cums & heāll use his body to just eclipse yours
ā¢ āone more baby girlā & ācāmon pretty girl use your words tell me what you wantā
ā¢ is a sucker for babydoll lingerie it brings your innocence & triggers his corruption kink
ā¢ moral of the story Simon Riley fucks

It has come to my attention some people don't think the Taraxacum is real. It is! Shadow of the Wolf is an upcoming (official, Massif Press) book being worked on by Katherine Stark of Legionnaire fame. You can find the playtest materials on the pilot.net Discord.
It contains three new alt frames:
The IPSN Taraxacum: a Lancaster alt based around scan/lock on. Also it can fly and can airlift friendlies, ignoring the usual carry restrictions for flying. You're the eye in the sky. If you ever wanted to be the command and control node and/or the ominous looming mothership, this is your frame.
The HORUS Hecatoncheires: a size 1/2 Balor alt that uses mobile greywash swarms that provide cover for allies and burn enemies. Like the Balor, the Hecatoncheires is kind of a formless greywash guy but instead of regeneration etc it's more about turning into the smoke monster from Lost. Really likes being in cover, which its core system drones can provide. Less of a tank than the Balor, more of an assassin.
The HA Tagetes: a Sherman alt frame that turns any ranged weapon into a rifle. You wanna crack shot with Gandiva Missiles? A Siege Cannon? Now you can, bud. Also gets a fancier version of Stabilize. An artillery mech, it's almost more like an HA take on the Death's Head rather than the more balanced frontline Sherman ā this is your dedicated infantry marksman mech. And yes, I know what you're thinking, you can Crack Shot with the Tachyon Lance. Did I mention all its ranged weapons gain Overkill? That between Crack Shot and Nuke Cav ā on a mech with decent heat management tools ā you can pretty reliably throw out 4D6 energy + 8 heat with Overkill per shot?

Black History Month
A member of the Harlem Hellfighters (369th Infantry Regiment) poses for the camera while holding a puppy he saved during World War 1, 1918.
The Harlem Hellfighters was a regiment made up of decorated Black soldiers who fought as part of the French army because the U.S. did not allow Black soldiers to fight alongside white soldiers. The French accepted the Harlem Hellfighters with open arms and did not racially segregate them.
During World War 1, they fought on the front lines for 191 days, longer than any other American unit. And as a result, suffered the most casualties of any American regimentālosing approximately 1,500 men. Despite the heavy death toll and the poor replacement system, the Harlem Hellfighters never lost a trench or a foot of ground to the enemy; none of them became prisoners of war. Not only were they one of the most successful regiments of World War 1, but they also helped bring Jazz to France.
Upon returning home, the Harlem Hellfighters received a welcome parade in New York City; a privilege that was denied to them before they had left for war. However, the celebrations were short lived as the summer of 1919 became known as the Red Summer, in which the country saw some of the worst racial violence since the Civil War.
The Harlem Hellfighters who dreamed of returning home to a place that would finally treat them with respect and as equal human beings, quickly realized that nothing had changed at all.
