Breastfeeding, but make it Cybertronian
I saw a post about how there are strip clubs on Cybertron because the Beast Wars TV show said so. The link to that post is below:
What had my attention was that one of the mechs says that they walk around without their chest plates, "if you know what I mean," which implies that walking around without chest plates might make you half-nude/indecent.
So I thought, is the spark chamber for Cybertronians (the thing protected by chest plates) like breasts for humans? You can let them out in certain cultures, but that's public indecency in a lot of places?
Then I thought about a carrier/foundry trying to breastfeed in a public park, their chest plates split open and a protoform pressed against their spark chamber. But they don't have breasts and protoforms don't need milk, so what's going on?
Then I thought about the incredible source of energy a spark is and how much energy a protoform needs to accomplish their final form.
So I am thinking that protoforms spark-feed by having their whole birth metal pressed against their creator's spark chamber, slurping up that good energy the same way we charge some of our devices: Induction charging. Just by pressing our device against some sort of charging surface.
The idea of full-grown Cybertronians spark-feeding their egg-shaped protoforms hit me so hard in my depraved brain that I sat down and made this post at work.

(Panel from Transformers: The Holiday Special)
Specifically, this egg-shaped protoform (yes, I know it's a group of scraplets pretending to be a protoform, but it fooled Swerve, so it has to be an accurate representation - let me have this).

lots of colleagues spending lots of braincells on "how to prevent cheating at coursework using gpt" while i think this is the one real issue that should concern us as educators (i mean, assuming we don't care about the exploitation/pollution/ethical issues raised by the corporate-US-owned random word god-machine, which I doubt most ppl in my department give a shit about)
like i've never heard anyone arguing against saying/demonstrating "lol it's shit" to students, but official uni policy (here) always prevaricate with "responsible use of AI", colleagues shamelessly writing "responsible/safe ai" in their grants application and a line i've heard from multiple other academics being "it really helps make some documents more professional sometimes though!".

#also not clear who is in charge of the “lol it's shit” demo#like do we need to do that for every module?? do they do it at induction? mystery!#also there is the question of having demos that are no outdated by having whoever's writing the chatbot hardcoding answers to usual gotchas#probably a minor issue though; it just feels gross to use that thing in public at all tbh#like would you message cleverbot in a public lecture about programming in big 2024

The rise of fascism has its balance.
The Black Panthers have a newly established headquarters in San Diego. Chapters are being established from coast to coast.
The old labor movement is shaking off the rust and aggressively campaigning in every major city. In a years time I expect to see a wave of union declarations.
Socialists are on the move in the streets. Communist gun clubs are seeing member counts rise. Native Warriors are walking their land and planning.
People are waking up. Hundreds of people in my area alone are attending political education classes. Dozens are being inducted into organizer training. A few are picking up guns and training for the future. The communists, the socialists, and the trade unionists are all stepping forward and turning the gears of change.
The anti-genocide protests have trained an entire generation of organizers. Young people have learned that they can only negotiate from a position of power. From their own lips, I know that they're learning what decolonization looks like. They're learning what revolution looks like. They're learning what power looks like.
In all of these movements I see trans people leading the charge. In all of these movements I see trans women in positions of leadership. I see trans men under arms.
We're fighting.
It's not hopeless. Get out there.

so we all know the image of the cat covered in packing peanuts from the static cling page on wikipedia, right?
you know, this delightful little guy? an image from 2017?
not only is it on the static cling page, it's also on the pages for static electricity, triboelectric effect, electric field, eletrostatics and electrostatic induction (and you can also find it on this user page captioned "my fav photo", which i thought was delightful, and way down on this user's page)!
it's full description on wikimedia also reads: "Styrofoam peanuts clinging to a cat's fur due to static electricity. The triboelectric effect causes an electrostatic charge to build up on the fur due to the cat's motions. The electric field of the charge causes polarization of the molecules of the styrofoam due to electrostatic induction, resulting in a slight attraction of the light plastic pieces to the charged fur. This effect is also the cause of static cling in clothes."
except, i left out the last bit. the last bit reads: "Image cropped losslessly from File:Cat and styrofoam – electrostatic charge (235112299).jpg using cropgtk"
now, this means this isn't the full image.... so what is the full image? it's this!
now, what i find really endearing about this photo, is that, while this file was uploaded to wikimedia in 2015 (as opposed to the cropped version being done in 2017), the original picture is actually from february 2006! you can see this in the summary!
the picture itself actually originates from flickr, and it has a DELIGHTFUL little description:
unfortunately the original source and picture is long gone, but we can delight in the fact that it was preserved a decade ago on wikimedia after being transferred via Flickr2Commons :]

Your twin boys are identical, and they look just like Jack. It’s kinda disrespectful considering that you were the one who carried them around for eight months and damn near went into heart failure because they were nearly crushing your chest, leading to an early induction for your own safety. But you wouldn’t have it any other way.
The messy auburn curls, their cheeks and noses littered with freckles, eyes that are light brown in normal lighting but hazel in the sunshine, and toothy grins. (<— click on this)
When they’re still infants, Jack wears them in a front and back baby sack while he cleans the house for you as you get some much needed rest. He keeps one in each muscled arm as they watch the Steelers lose yet another game, imparting wisdom to their tiny brains on how he would coach the team better.
As they grow older, the twins follow him around the house, bound and determined to assist with whatever project he was working on. Replacing a lightbulb in the ceiling? They’re handing him the new bulb and putting the old one away. Mowing the backyard? They’re inspecting every blade of grass that he missed and pointing it out. Installing the new porch swing for the backyard? They’re sorting out every screw and washer to make it easier.
When they know Jack’s stump has been hurting him and he hasn’t been wearing his prosthetic at home, even as toddlers, they each grab a crutch and deliver it to him to make his life easier. That’s the act of service that really brings Jack to tears.
When the twins spend all day in the backyard playing in the dirt and rolling around in the grass, covered in filth, your life flashes before your eyes when you see your sons storming towards the front door, ready to destroy your freshly cleaned house. But Jack sees you tense. He gives you a quick kiss before slapping your ass playfully as you cook dinner. “I’ve got it, honey.”
Jack quickly exits the door to the backyard, stopping your sons from entering the house. There’s laughing and playful scolding when he snatches one boy into each arm, dragging them back to the backyard. Through the window, you see the boys run away from their father when he charges at them with the water hose. Their legs are still so little, and he douses them with the jet-spray setting, washing away every spot of dirt. The giggles and screams warm your heart, until you see that the boys have tackled Jack to the ground, getting their revenge. One holds his legs while the other shoots him point blank in the chest with the water hose. “Mission failed.” You think to yourself.
By the time dinner is finished, you peer out the window again to find the loves of your life all dirtied up with grass stains and mud. You fish a few towels out of the hall closet and step outside. Jack has a sheepish grin, the same one your twins replicate when they see you coming towards them.
“Alright, soldiers. Strip down to your underwear.” You playfully command, grabbing the water hose.
They do as you say, tossing wet fabric onto the ground, awaiting their fate. You spray your sons down first, handing them each a towel before sending them off inside. When your eyes meet Jack’s, he’s got that asshole grin on his face.
“You were supposed to fix this.” You scold with a smile, stepping closer to him.
Jack laughs as you spray him off, the mud clearing from his face and silvered curls. “Hey, you ended up getting a free viewing of the gun show.” He teases, effortlessly flexing his upper body for your viewing pleasure.
As much as you wanted to climb him like a tree at the enticing sight, you couldn’t give him the satisficstion. Instead, you snatched the waistband of his boxers and sprayed the water hose where he was most sensitive. A surprised yelp left his throat as he snatched the towel from you, running away before he lost any more dignity.
