#Indiana Jones Collectables

Now as always I think we’ll start here with the goodies I got in my stocking. So yeah I did get some stocking suffers. I did get the usual stuff some lil candies and a couple of candy canes and some chocolates and of course some of the lil hand soaps that I like First off we got another of the Matchbox Indiana Jones vehicles which is a Ducati Scrambler which looks pretty cool and I'll be putting it with the other one I picked up a while ago.

Next is I got the lil Super Mario figure of the character Birdo that I was looking for so I was extremely happy about that of course.

I also got a new Optimus Primes in my stocking again this year. I got the new 2024 Hallmark ornament "Holiday Optimus Prime" which is pretty pretty awesome and he is the first of my “Christmas Primes”

Now the next 3 items kinda set the tone for the rest of the gifts I received for Christmas being it was I thought a very Tomb Raider Christmas firstly I received 2 collectors Pins first I got the Tomb Raider Big Debut Enamel pin and then secondly I received The Tomb Raider Society of Raiders Member Pin which I think is very cool and I love them both.

and then finally I got the official Lara Croft Classic Raider Specs that are a replica of the sunglasses she wore in the original games. They are amazing well made with a nice case to keep them in and they are so cool you you don't want to wear them and I probably won't for 2 reasons 1 being I have a pair of shades I wear that I love and two I have a tendency to loose stuff like this so I don't want to wear them and then leave them somewhere. So they are going to be an awesome display piece.

I'm taking a break from YouTube to work on other secret things but I am archiving everything and it reminded me just how much I did in the past five years. Here's a recap thread of all the series I've looked at:

#1 - The Simpsons

You might say this effort started back in 2002, and the YouTube channel exists just because I wanted a place to upload random Simpsons video game trailers and such. But the focused video creation began with this series in 2019.

#2 - Star Trek Deep Space Nine

I enjoyed working on the Simpsons videos and thought, hey, there's other licensed games. It was only natural for me to move on Star Trek DS9 aka the best Star Trek show. There were only four games based on it but they run the gamut from platformer to adventure to RTS.

#3 - The Books of Dan Brown

It was time to branch out from television to the world of fine* literature. I'd always wanted to read Dan Brown's books and I did and I don't recommend you ever do this. But the movies are neat and there were more games than you can imagine based on those movies.

#4 - King of the Hill

This was an exercise in wringing as much from a single video game as possible. King of the Hill for PC has the Lovercraftian quality of driving people mad when they look upon it and I expressed that madness by making video after video about it.

#5 - Young Indiana Jones

I would never try to play every single Indiana Jones video game but a subset of games featuring the character as a child, sure. The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles was a short TV series from the mid-90s that explored why Indy lacked parental supervision.

#6 - Goosebumps

Another dip into the literary world and a fine excuse to go back and read all those Goosebumps books I skipped the moment I turned 13 and was too cool for them. Surprise, they're still hella fun to read. And there were *so* many video games based on those books.

#7 - The Collective

I kept coming across The Collective during my research. I discovered nearly their entire catalog was licensed games and thought that examining a single studio's output would be enlightening. Dunno if I achieved enlightenment, but the mix of games was fascinating.

#8 - Mighty Max

Another excuse to run through an old cartoon show that I never got to watch in full. There weren't many games based on the toy/cartoon franchise, and the few that released weren't all that great, and... I forgot where I was going with this. They exist?

#9 - Gargoyles

Doubling down on the cartoon nostalgia by subscribing to Disney+ just so I could watch this show. It's a helluva cartoon and the second season in particular is a tour de force of weekday afternoon animation. The games are hit and mostly miss, but still intriguing.

#10 - Dr. Slump

I'd been mired in American creations and needed to branch out. Perhaps Akira Toriyama? DBZ was intimidating so I instead decided to venture into his first big manga, Dr. Slump. I discovered a charming and very funny series that really woke me up to the greatness of Toriyama.

#10 - Frankenstein

Just like I'd spent too much time researching works created by Americans, I was also spending too much time on things created by men. I picked Frankenstein by Mary Shelley as a work created by a woman and crashed into the more than 85 video games based on her landmark novel.

#11 - Hey, I Was There!

This ongoing series is really just a self-indulgent excuse to play licensed games I worked on such as 50 Cent Bulletproof, Ice Age 2 The Meltdown, and Predator Concrete Jungle. Video game classics that we all remember fondly, right?!

I was finally able to grab John Williams’ latest score, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”.

(In principle, the CD was released in the summer of 2023 alongside the movie but I couldn’t find it anywhere. Even now, I had to overpay to get it. John Williams’ music is no longer published on CD? I’m going to burn some music executives at the stake if this isn’t corrected.)

The maestro of the maestros may be in his nineties but he is undiminished.

He references the known Indiana Jones themes in passing but has composed totally new ones. And he got Anne-Sophie Mutter (@anne_sophie_mutter) to play the violin solos.

This week we had a good find and picked up the first of the Indiana Jones Matchbox vehicles!! the Matchbox 70 years Indiana Jones 1936 Auburn Speedster 851 we seen it on the peg when were were leaving Toys at Wal Mart Tuesday night there was only one There was only one and I grabbed it! I didn't see any of the others just that but hopefully they will the the other in too
