hi do you think you could do a miles edgeworth x reader where reader comforts edgeworth during or after an earthquake ? maybe angst/comfort :) tysm!
Hello Anon, I'm glad to be writing again! Apologies for the late response, but I hope you're still around to read this :')
(Requests are now open again :D)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Comforting Miles Edgeworth during an earthquake:
Ever since the death of his father, Miles has always tried to avoid places where earthquakes are known to occur;
But with his constant traveling, he sometimes can't avoid it;
So when he's most insecure, he likes to bring you along, knowing that your presence alone is soothing enough for his terror;
Even if he knows that he's scared and knows how he behaves, he still cannot avoid fleeing to the first spot he deems safe enough and stays there, paralyzed;
He hates being in that state, remembering all the times it blocked him even at work;
But the worst times are when earthquakes strike where he thinks they're rare, like his home;
However, he noticed that whenever you were around, everything was easier, he would calm down faster and his reactions were milder;
He'll probably never recover from the trauma, so finding you was the best thing that could happen to him.
Miles set the freshly brewed tea on the table as he waited for you to return from the kitchen, sat on the chair and adjusted his glasses before pouring the drink into each of your cups.
"Which one did you prepare? Darjeeling again? Or the usual Earl Grey?" as you finally emerged from the room next door, drying your hands with a dishcloth, Miles felt a little tug on his lips and moved a chair closer to his, instead of in front of it. "It's the one I brought you from India, it's a green tea mix of Sencha and Assam, so it's a little less intense than a black one" he gently guided you by hand to sit "So I'm not allowed to add any sugar?" "Nu-uh" he sipped his cup, as his muscles melted on the seat.
Miles loved this moment of the week; after a long, usual day of work, he could relax all the time wanted, knowing tomorrow was a full rest. He would usually read one of his books, or a file case -if in a better mood- and just wait to fall asleep. Luckily, now with your company, he could also have pleasant conversations with someone equally lovely.
The time flew by between a teapot-amount of tea, some discussions about work, hobbies and a very long parenthesis about Miles' recent new assistants in his investigations. You moved on the couch and searched for something to watch as Miles took the tea set and brought it to the kitchen.
However, everything paused when the lights suddenly went out "Miles? Stay where you are, I'll go take the torch" You carefully moved around the apartment, making your hands go first. All the other buildings outside were in total blackout, so the research for the torch was sped up, feeling something bad was arriving.
Feeling that was confirmed mere seconds later, sensing the earth under your feet and the furniture around starting to tremble, first imperceptible, but soon became a true quake. Your first thought went to Miles. Found the torch, as everything trembled, the sound of many pieces of porcelain crashing to the ground of the other room made your guts fall to the ground, and your body followed soon enough.
You had to stay still until the tremors weakened enough to stand up again and rush to the kitchen, making way with the light in hand. As soon as all the ceramics on the ground were spotted, you searched for Miles and undoubtedly found him huddled under the table, quivering and protecting his head with his arms.
Miles froze on the spot when the light blacked out, holding tight to the tray with the tea set, but as soon as the smallest tremor hit his feet, he started shaking and searched somewhere to hold on, but a horrific shake made him fall to the ground, crashing everything in hands and banging his head on some counter. The already black vision didn't help his attempts to not go back to that elevator, all he could do was hug himself as strongly as possible and reach the first wall to have some sort of support around. When a light was pointed at his face, he somewhat understood that he was not inside the elevator, but his head couldn't come out of there.
"Miles! Miles are you hurt?!" you kneeled beside him and tried to "unlock" his head from the protection he created "Miles, it's okay, we're safe, it's gone" you attempted to make him better see around, but he was elsewhere right now, shaking uncontrollably and barely breathing. Nothing comforting worked, between cuddles and gentle whispers, he went increasingly apnoea and tears started falling.
To avoid panicking, you forced his hands away from his face, making him look at you, softly shaking his shoulders to make him inhale air again "Miles please, breathe with me, everything is all right" You found his hand and almost instinctively he clasped his hand with all his strength around yours.
Luckily, lights started to come back to the buildings outside, and when the kitchen ones turned on again, you turned Miles' face towards yours, seeking for any potential injuries, which were more than visible on his temple "I have to get something for your head, you're bleeding" you applied soft pressure on it, but instantly understood that no one was moving soon
Miles remained rigid for some more minutes before slowly coming back to earth. He finally recognized his kitchen and your hand, which up until three seconds ago was the gun he had thrown all those years ago. His mouth wouldn't open, his eyes wouldn't stop leaking tears and his body wouldn't stop shaking; all he managed to do was climb on your legs, searching for a safe position and trying to stabilize his breathing.
You slowly dragged his body from under the table, moving with him until a wall could be used as a backrest, covering his body with your own to give comfort and warmth. Your free hand gently stroked his locks while the one Miles held, kindly caressed his fingers. "Everything is okay Miles, as long as I'm here you're safe, nothing will ever happen to you again" Your thumb cleared his eyes of tears and slipped along his cheeks, allowing Miles to finally relax against you, keeping his eyes open to not permit his mind to play tricks.
"I'm sorry, I hate being like this" he mumbled and tried to straighten his back, loosening the grip on your hand "Don't even start, you're doing so good and it's not your fault. When you're ready we can go to bed and try to forget all this" You shushed him when he tried to talk again, probably about the tea set or the "nuisance" he's causing you "I don't know… if I want to sleep" he softly sobbed, holding his head where it banged "Everything could be worse, and my head is hurting like crazy" he fell again against your body, hiding himself where nothing could see all the overbearing emotions on his features "We'll do whatever you want, just don't hide. The only thing I ask is that you let me aid that wound on your head" You sighed and watched yourself around, noticing that almost all the other cups in the cupboards were destroyed, but everything outside Miles was a tomorrow problem "It's ok, just… stay with me".
It took another two hours to pull Miles up that floor, dragging him to bed first and convincing him to get in his comfortable clothes after "You don't want to try and sleep?" his head was finally patched and massaged carefully to relieve some pain "Not now, if I get asleep, good, otherwise I prefer staying vigilant for any other earthquakes" Miles melted against you, trying his best to listen to your advice and get some sleep, trying to forget what happened and how the perfect evening was ruined in the worst way possible "You can ask for some days off if you want to re-do this stolen time; I'm sure Gumshoe would help your request" Your mind could read his thoughts, and caught the opportunity to let his head wander somewhere else "I hate to skip work for such futile motives; my weakness shouldn't obstruct my work" "Oooh yes, sorry Mr. Chief Prosecutor, the office will crumble on its own weight without you" Your hands kept cuddling him softly enough to stimulate his sleep.
Miles stayed still and silent, eyes closed, ignoring the pain in his head and everything else around, and inside his thoughts. He'll never recover, he knows that perfectly, but if the reserved treatment every time was like this, he could learn to handle better his trauma, and learn how to be properly thankful for what life is finally granting him, not just inflicting; you.

About Maldives
The Maldives is an archipelagic state and country in South Asia, situated in the Indian Ocean. It lies southwest of Sri Lanka and India, about 750 kilometres (470 miles; 400 nautical miles) from the Asian continent's mainland. The Maldives' chain of 26 atolls stretches across the equator from Ihavandhippolhu Atoll in the north to Addu Atoll in the south. According to legends, the first settlers of the Maldives were people known as Dheyvis. The first Kingdom of the Maldives was known as Dheeva Maari. During the 3rd century BCE visit of emissaries, it was noted that the Maldives was known as Dheeva Mahal. Comprising a territory spanning roughly 90,000 square kilometres (35,000 sq mi) including the sea, land area of all the islands comprises 298 square kilometres (115 sq mi), the Maldives is the smallest country in Asia as well as one of the world's most geographically dispersed sovereign states and as well as one of the smallest Muslim-majority countries by land area and, with a population of 521,021, the 2nd least populous country in Asia. I want yall to consider vet/zoologist crutchie. I’ve always had this idea of him working with animals and the idea suddenly grew and expanded even further when i woke up this morning and decided to turn on nat geo wild. Let me explain.
Crutchie adores animals. The cute, the gross, the peculiar, the dangerous, the docile, you name it. He always had this dream lifestyle where he gets to work closely with animals, whether it’d be in an animal clinic or in a zoo or in conservation/perservation or research in general, and then come home every eveningn to his own place full of his pets.
His first job fresh out of vet school was in fact as a vet. He was hoping for a job in preservation/conservation or at a zoo but seeing that this was his first job, he’ll still take it. And being a vet actually allowed crutchie to handle a variety amount of cases. Most cases are just the regular hose pets or out of states farm, mostly bcs he’s still considered a junior there. But working as a vet was enough to see a lot of cases.
However he still wished to work in preservation. He wants to work with endangered species or rescued animals. And so he went out of his way to look for jobs out of the state in conservation centers. (Idk how that stuff works but you get the gist). Now i firmly stand with the whole crutchie, jack, and race are adopted brothers dynamic. Out of the three of them, crutchie is definitely the brother that would most likely move very far away. But this was out of state. Jack and race were a bit sad that he’s moving away but was supportive of his decision. dw the brothers and the rest of the friends always make time to do life updates through texts or calls.
Imagine their surprise when a couple months in Crutchie’s new job he announced that he was planning on moving to other countries? He’s fairly young when he starts off his conservation career to still be quite active but old enough with experience and knowledge a junior wouldn’t have. He gets recommended by his superiors to work in other conservation centers around the globe. Jack and Race was the most shocked and mostly bcs they’re his brothers. Despite the life updates they give, it’s quite hard to catch Crutchie at the right time to hv a proper catch up conversation. His way of staying connected with all his friends and brothers is by sending random life update texts in their big group chat (basically a big newsies gc) much like what the others have always been doing. Crutchie is too busy to call them himself, and most of the time he is content with not speaking with them for long periods of time. However he always does makes the smallest amount of time to facetime them, especially his brothers. And make time to go back to new york to visit them every once in awhile bearing gifts from where he’s living.
Living like this made him really proud of himsef. Of how far he has come. He was first adopted bcs his biological parents didn’t want a disabled child. Imo in modern era crutchie has a limb reduction on his right leg. It barely formed from just above his knee as a newborn and so his bio parents abandoned him. He was taken in by a couple of foster families first and was only given crutches as they cldn’t afford a prosthetic limb. When Ms Medda adopted him, he was able to get one. He went through a lot of challenges with his prosthetic leg, and even thought he might not be able to get the lifestyle he wanted with it. But when the world turned its back on him, Crutchie gave it a middle finger and fought through. With a job he loves, and experiencing a lifestyle in different countries as he continues with his passion for saving animals. It started from Brazil, then South Africa, then India, then China, then Indonesia, and then Australia. He stayed in Australia the longest though because there were a lot of cool conservation projects he was being recruited on.
All throughout his adventures of being moved around, he acquired two loyal pets he brought along with him. A black labrador with a right front prosthetic leg named Hunter, found limping in the streets of Brazil, and a black blind stray cat named Noir, found in a cat adoption center in China after living there for almost a year (breed unidentifiable other than “black fluffy cat” and Crutchie doesn’t care to find out what her breed is).
He earned his reputation worldwide after being apart of countless of conservation projects in various countries. By around his late thirties early fourties, he moved back to the states. On the outskirts of the state of New York, he settles in a small town near his permanent workplace. A conservation scientists in a wildcat sanctuary where they rescue wild cats (from unethical breeding, bad roadside zoos, disabled by poachers in the wild, the black market, random ppl keeping them as pets, you get tne gist) and let them live freely in their sanctuary till the end of their lives as wild as they want without being put on display, unable to be released to the wild for one reason or another. Crutchie also sometimes comes in to work in a local animal clinic every now and then.
Anyways yeah food for thought on vet/zoologist!crutchie?? Yeah<3
#crurchie morris#crutchie newsies#crutchie#newsies#i love writing random hcs in detail description like this#tw abelism#tw abandonment#tw mentions of animal abuse

Think of Goa, and think of a coastal retreat with sights of gleaming sands and azure waters with a shimmering sun in the backdrop. A lush green landscape edges the golden coastline, which overlooks the scintillating seas in the beach capital of India. Although the smallest state in the country, Goa is one of the nation’s biggest tourist destinations.

i wish i knew my area of history in the "can answer middle school essay questions about it accurately" way
i have read a lot of history! i've done some work in the field, though exclusively about written works so far. but i haven't, like, sat down and memorized a timeline. my grasp of geography is shaky and my grasp of empire and dynasty is worse
i remember in my first class on economics, we had to do a research paper re: the history of a US economic policy, and i picked our Iran deal, and as background i read the wiki pages on US military conflicts in the region and made a timeline and a spreadsheet with context and it was kind of basic background research, but. i dunno. i feel like i'm missing that stuff! i don't want to miss stuff!
probably i should just pick one book on the Achamenids, one on the Sasanians, one on pre-Islamic Arabia, on the life of the Prophet, on the Radishun, on the Umayyads, on the Abbasids, and then on ~the Mongol invasion~ since that would probably include notes on a lot of the smaller dynasties, plus a book on Mongol India, and the Mamluks, Ottomans, Safavids, and Qajars. possibly whoever ran Egypt after the Mamluks? and, like, i'm sure i can sketch a rough oil timeline but my knowledge of the Great Game is so bad and probably should get better. and then write a timeline and summary of the accounts of (counts on fingers) 13-15 books
i love that the smallest version of this my brain came up with is 13 fucking books. (i have read books on some of these topics before, even broad books! but i didn't take good notes.) "middle school understanding" my ass. i'm sure i could find a decent *basic* book for the broad overview i want to hammer down important facts
on the other hand pop history makes me want to scream and tear at my face
on the third hand i did already do a "quiz myself on basic topics and see how right i am" thing earlier this year and while i got many things right it didn't really scratch the "i am missing MAJOR AREAS (for my own definition of adequate knowledge)" gap
man i also really wanna reread that one book re: the Islamic conquest of Iran now that my brain is no longer on fire. at least in the way it was when i was that year
perhaps instead of making a giant reading list i could go just through my notes with my friend and mentor and READ ALL THE BOOKS HE'S TOLD ME TO READ. that would probably be helpful!!! be responsible learner move!
perhaps i should just read two whole encyclopedias. no, that would be inefficient and a poor introduction to scholarship since i would *see* good bibliographies but they might not have the same context as good books
ugh. i also have. like. other things to do. and have spent most of the last 2-3 days in a semi-conscious fiction devouring state, which is not bad per se but it also isn't my favorite way to live, especially when it feels like avoidance. which it has. (every day i ignore emails and do not send others i know i should.)
let's go to a coffeeshop tomorrow and conquer emails and mail and fucking. figure it out. take steps in the right direction. move!
#personal#ghost speaks#you might think i consider myself uneducated and i don't actually. i just want to be better educated#and i feel like there could be some benefit to sitting down and MEMORIZING DATES because i am *so bad at them*#i really wish my AH/CE mental comparisons were better too. need to remember that#maybe i could take my mental timeline of western history i learned in middle school and make it AH

Meracydia will be inspired by Africa and Australia both, just like Eorzea is inspired by Europe.
I’ve gotten tired of some things said by the FFXIV community, so I’ve decided to make this post. Let me tell you a fact that it seems some people on Twitter/Reddit/FFXIVForum do not understand - Meracydia will have African influence, not only Australian! I am so tired that there are people who want to erase us. Do you want proof? Maybe go look and read some of the text about Meracydia that is already in the game…
For example, in the description of Hippo Calf (Minion) that we can get from Vanaspati we can read that Hippopotami are native to Meracydia and remember that Hippopotamus in the real world is a large semiaquatic mammal native to sub-Saharan Africa. I could keep adding more and more stuff like this, but this post would be too long…
The next fact that is very important to be stated is that Meracydia’s placement on the map is not the exact same spot of Australia’s on a real world map. 7.0 map showed us that Meracydia is placed under Thavnair and in real world Australia is not placed under India, but that place is like a halfway between Australia and Africa, so it even further shows that it will be influenced by both Africa and Australia.
I can wait as long as the devs want to see a place inspired by Africa in the game, because as we could see in the game before, that means that they will add gear/hairstyles etc. based on that culture. Examples? In the Myths of the Realm raids give you gear based on Greek culture…
So now my dear fellows, remember that if they add Meracydia, we will finally get our deserved customization!
Now it is time for the other and maybe even worse and a very bad misconception that I’ve seen people are discussing on Twitter, Forum and Reddit calling “Eorzea being irl Africa” “because of its shape and placement on the map”. Let me say it clearly: Eorzea is inspired by Europe, not by our Africa, which with Australia is an inspiration for Meracydia. I’ll try to tell you why that is wrong and why that statement for me is a very concerning one.
Let’s begin with pointing out that the Eorzea-Garlemald conflict was based on Greek-Persian conflict and it was stated in Eorzea Pre-Live Report that “situation in Eorzea similar to the months before the Persian Empire marched on Greece”. In the interview from Famitsu 3/2022 FFXIV devs stated that the Garlemald in Endwalker was inspired by Russia and the Roman Empire (Source) and we can clearly see on the map, that Garlemald is taking a similar spot to Russia (or even USSR) and Ilsabard is like a (part of) North, Central and Southern Asia (both Garlemald - inspired by Russia and Thavanir inspired by India are on that continent) and Othard is East Asian inspired.
The shape of the continent where we start our adventure and its placement is more likely based on Europe when we turn it to the side, not Africa. You just have to tear down Europe from the rest of Eurasia and turn it to the side. I’ll use a vector stock image to show you that.
This is a very similar to the shape of Eorzea, but squeeze it and add more water to some places (keep in mind that the shapes of continents are mostly changed by devs to not resemble the irl ones too much, see Thavanir being an island when India is a peninsula). Also it roughly matches the cultures there, even Ul’dah, since it would be a similar spot to Moorish Spain/Al-Andalus (if someone doesn’t know what that was, go check your history book or look here). Even Ala Mhigo roughly matches the place of Turkey and it was stated by the devs, that the main inspirations for Ala Mhigo map’s placement was Turkey (Source) and Ala Mhigo is “the nation located at the junction of two civilizations and is a geopolitical strategic point”.
Moreover, Africa is much larger than Eorzea, reaching much below the south of the equator, at the same time Europe could match the size of Eorzea, since it's is said to be a small continent (Europe is 2nd smallest continent, Africa is the 2nd largest).
People who claim that Eorzea is Africa give a very bad message in my opinion (especially for us, the African community), I will explain to you now, but we must state some facts, that were not stated above:
None of the races that we can play in the game are truly native for Eorzea, they came here from other parts of the world.
The first race who claim to be “the oldest of Eorzea's native sentient races” are Elezen. (Source)
That is their own claim, but not quite the truth, because in the naming convention post we can read that Elezen were first of those races to arrive in Eorzea, but they came from the north to Eorzea. (Source)
4. That north is definitely not Coerthas, because in the Encyclopedia Eorzea I on page 149 we can read that the Elezen came to the Coerthas for the first time after the Great Hyuran Migration.
5. The Elezen are highly European inspired, their architecture, their food, the fact that their language is highly based on French etc.
6. Once again - other races are also not from Eorzea, they migrated here from other parts of the world.
Now if you can sum up facts, it is painting a horrible picture and now you understand why I refuse that any person will claim that “Eorzea is Africa”, when it’s clearly not. If you still do not understand, let me sum this up for you: If you say “Eorzea is Africa” you give a message that a European based Elezen race (whose language is based on French) are coming from the north and claiming a lot of lands on the continent (Coerthas, the land near Gridania etc.) that in your opinion is supposed to be based on Africa. Can you see it now? Can you see what is that supporting? Also, I will not accept that if Elezen were first to arrive there from playable races with their culture based on European, and that they literally claimed a huge part of the continent, that would mean that we would be compared to the indigenous inhabitants of this lands, which are… the tribes that we deal with in ARR and later and that is unacceptable and I think that I do not have to tell you why…
The placement of the continent is also not matching Africa, since Eorzea seems to be higher as someone stated on FFXIV forum.
Just look at the world from Mare Lamentorum and remember that Coerthas is so far north that you can see Aurora Borealis (I saw it during clear skies weather in Coerthas Western Highlands around 00:40/45 Eorzea time) and that's the thing that you won’t see in northern parts of Africa.
I think that now you understand why the theory of “Eorzea is Africa” is a harmful one for us. Eorzea is Europe, maybe turned to the side, but still Europe. I see no influence of indigenous African culture there. Because of the possible collision of flipped Europe with our continent, Africa got moved and smashed with Australia creating Meracydia, that’s why it’s on the FFXIV map that translated to being between real world Africa and Australia.
Once again I will say, you may yell as loud as you want, but it is already stated in the game that Meracydia has a lot of African influences and you will not erase it. Oh and remember that Australian influence on Meracydia will likely come from Australian indigenous culture, so I’m very happy that they will make a land based on indigenous cultures of both Africa and Australia together. Also, if you still want to erase our culture by saying the lie “Eorzea is Africa” or “Eorzea is in the shape and place of Africa so you don’t need anything more” go ahead and live in your delusion. We all know that devs most of the times use culture matching the region (like Ilsabard is Russia and part of Asia with India).

What is the difference between a crocodile and an alligator?
What is the difference between a crocodile and an alligator? There are many differences, including their color, size, snout shape, where they live, behavior, the strength of their bite, and many more.
Both crocodiles and alligators come from the family crocodilian. They appeared about 94 million years ago and have a thick scaly skin. They mostly live in water and are very good swimmers. However, they can move on land as well. They are generally slow, but they can sprint at 14 km/h for short bursts. They are not amphibians, but they can hold their breath underwater for between 15 minutes and two hours. They are related to birds, but they are cold-blooded. They are carnivores but have a very low metabolic rate, so they can survive on one large meal for months. An adult crocodile can survive for half a year without eating. The smallest species of crocodilian are about 1 meter long and the largest species, the saltwater crocodile, grow up to 6 meters long and weigh 1.5 tons. Alligators and crocodiles have a lot of similarities, but they also have several differences. They diverged as a species about 80 million years ago. Incidentally, both of their names mean “lizard”. “Crocodile” comes from the Ancient Greek, krokodilos, which meant “lizard”. And “alligator” comes from the Spanish el lagarto, which meant “the lizard”.
So, how are crocodiles and alligators different? The first difference is where they live. There are 18 different species of crocodile, and they are found in warm, tropical areas. They cannot handle the cold as well as alligators can. Crocodiles can be found in Central America (as far south as Colombia and as far north as southern Florida), central Africa, India, southern Asia, and all the way down to northern Australia. There are only two species of alligator, and they live in the southeastern United States and eastern China. If you are not in either of those two areas, then you are looking at a crocodile.
Alligators and crocodiles also have a different color. Alligators are black or dark olive-brown on top and have a cream-colored underside. Crocodiles are usually green, grey, black or brown. They usually have stripes or a mottled pattern. This coloration shows where they live and how they hunt. Crocodiles tend to live in open water or in water with a lot more algae. Their colors help them blend in. Alligators stay closer to the banks of rivers and lakes, and their colors help them blend into the mud and lakebed.
The two animals vary in size and aggression as well. Crocodiles are much larger than alligators. Crocodiles are also much more aggressive than alligators. This is probably because their size allows them to be. Both alligators and crocodiles are apex predators, but crocodiles are able to catch much larger prey. Alligators have been known to attack bears and panthers, but they are more likely to attack smaller and easier prey. Crocodiles will attack anything if it comes close enough to the water.
Crocodiles and alligators have a different snout shape. Alligators have a U-shaped snout, and their upper jaw is larger than their lower jaw, so you can only see their top teeth when their jaws are shut. Crocodiles have a pointed V-shaped snout, and their jaws are pretty much the same size, so you can see most of their teeth when their mouths are shut. They both have strong jaws, but crocodiles have a greater bite force. In fact, the Australian saltwater crocodile has the strongest bite of any animal. They have strong hard muscles on either side of their jaws that bring their jaws together with a force of 1,678 kg. However, all of their muscles are concentrated on bringing the jaws closed and they have very few muscles to open the jaw, which is why you can easily duct tape a crocodile’s mouth closed.
Alligators have webbed feet and crocodiles do not. This makes alligators faster swimmers than crocodiles. However, crocodiles have longer bones in their legs, so they are able to raise their bodies up when they run on land. Crocodiles can run on land with their bodies touching the ground, or they can lift their bodies up and run. Alligators can only run with their bodies close to the ground.
A final difference between alligators and crocodiles is that crocodiles tend to live longer. Alligators usually live between 30 and 50 years, but crocodiles can live up to 100 years. This is probably because of their size. In nature, larger animals tend to live longer than smaller animals. And this is what I learned today.

Travel place Idea 2023
Maui
Maui is a small island in Hawaii, with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It's a popular tourist destination for its beauty and variety of activities. You can enjoy breathtaking views from the top of Haleakala volcano or hike through rainforest trails on the slopes of Haleakala.
Maui has some amazing waterfalls like Wailea Falls or Wailua Falls which are both part of the Hawaiian Islands National Wildlife Refuge (HINWR). You can also visit Lana'i or Lanai if you want to see some more beautiful beaches like Black Rock Beach or Kukuiula Beach Park where people come here during summer months because there is no waves so it's very safe for swimming too!
Another great place to visit while staying in Maui would be Wailea Golf Club where there are lots more things besides just playing golfing games such as tennis courts where players get together after they finish their day’s play; facility includes catering services available 24 hours per day seven days per week including bar service available at various locations throughout property during normal business hours only not available off-site due to liability issues associated with serving alcohol outside licensed premises when customers aren't present within immediate proximity so please make sure everyone behaves responsibly before drinking any alcoholic beverages
alaska
Alaska is the 49th state of the United States and one of the largest, most mountainous, and least densely populated states in the United States. It has been named by Lonely Planet as one of its top 10 destinations for 2019. You can visit this beautiful place by flying to Anchorage or Fairbanks or even by driving through Denali National Park and Preserve.
iceland
Iceland is a country in northern Europe. It's made up of many islands and volcanoes, so it has a lot of natural beauty to offer.
Iceland is home to some of the best hiking trails in all of Europe, as well as some fantastic restaurants and bars that serve traditional Icelandic dishes like whale meat and puffin eggs (which are served on toast). You'll also find plenty of waterfalls if you're looking for something more adventurous than just relaxing by the pool with your friends!
Maldives
Maldives is an island country in the Indian Ocean. It is situated between India and Sri Lanka, atolled by 1,192 coral islands (1,190 if you count the minor atolls). This tiny country has been known as “the land of water” since ancient times because of its vast amounts of water surrounding it.
Maldives offers tourists many things to do: diving with sharks and turtles; snorkeling on coral reefs; walking through tropical forests or exploring ancient temples; eating seafood cooked over coconut husks while taking in the beautiful scenery around you...
Monaco
Monaco is the second smallest country in the world. It has only about 324,000 people and it’s located on the coast of France.
Monaco has a lot of casinos and hotels, but it also has museums like The Musée National des Châteaux de Malmaison and Musée Guggenheim du Design.
france
France is a beautiful country that has many different cities and towns. It is an excellent place to visit if you are looking for culture, history, or even just some good food!
Here are some ideas for your trip:
Paris - Paris is one of the most famous cities in all of Europe. You can visit any one of the museums there and see amazing artworks from around the world! There’s also plenty more going on besides just sightseeing—you could check out some concerts or performances at Les Etoiles de la Rue (the Stars of La Rua), which offers theater performances throughout its three venues: Théâtre de la Bourse; Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier; and Studio Kino. Or if you have time left over after touring these places, why not take part in something like cycling through Montmartre? This hike will take about 2 hours roundtrip depending on how fast/slow paced you want your ride!
We should go traveling with my friends
Traveling with friends is a great way to have fun, relax and meet new people. It’s also an exciting experience that will make you feel like you are living life on your own terms.
Traveling by yourself can be very stressful if you don’t have anyone to share it with or take care of when things get tough. Traveling with other people who care about each other can help relieve some of this stress when traveling together as well as making sure everyone has what they need during their trip (food & water).
Conclusion
We hope this list of travel ideas has given you some inspiration for your next trip! We know that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to see, but these places offer something special for everyone. Whether it's the beautiful landscapes.

Achieve Safety Culture Excellence with Digital Control of Work
Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical* manufacturing is not only at the forefront of global health but also a key driver of economic growth, with the sector valued at over $1.5 trillion worldwide. Every day, millions of pharma manufacturing workers across the globe ensure the production of life-saving drugs, but their roles come with significant safety challenges.
The United States has the highest number of workers in the pharma manufacturing sector, while other countries such as Japan, Germany, India, and China are also notable for having a high volume of worker employment.
A pharma manufacturing worker’s day may include working in environments ranging from raw material and utilities supply, which are heavily industrial, to high clean environments such as API manufacture. It can also include hazards such as confined spaces, controlled atmospheres, moving equipment, automated machinery, working at heights and tight spaces where pinch points are regular occurrences. Added to this is the requirement to assure current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) are followed, including compliance to ASME BPE and FDA standards.
Given the complexity of some of the machinery and equipment present and often the need to work with hazardous chemicals, every task is performed within a framework designed to protect both the worker and the product being manufactured.
A typical day may involve operating automated machinery used for mixing and packaging medications, monitoring environmental conditions in sterile manufacturing areas, and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Workers also conduct quality control checks, where even the smallest contamination could compromise product integrity, making the role of precision incredibly vital. In addition, the concentrated active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) themselves can be toxic if not managed properly.
Given the complexity of these operations, workers are trained in standard operating procedures (SOPs). However, despite rules and regulations being in place, they still face exposure to serious hazards whilst at work.
Some common hazards include:
1. Chemical Exposure: Such as handling toxic chemicals or substances like APIs, which can cause serious health issues if inhaled, ingested, or absorbed through the skin.
2. Biological Hazards: In some facilities, particularly those manufacturing vaccines or other biological products, workers are exposed to biological agents such as viruses and bacteria. Accidental exposure can lead to infections or long-term health effects if not managed properly.
3. Mechanical Hazards: The use of complex machinery and automated systems in manufacturing, often in tight spaces, increases the risk of injury from equipment. Added to this are risks from moving parts, such as conveyor belts, or moving vehicles.
4. Sterile Environments: Ensuring sterility in the production of certain drugs, especially injectables, is critical. Contamination not only affects product quality but also poses health risks to workers if biohazardous materials are involved.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the pharmaceutical industry recorded 1.6 non- fatal occupational injuries per 100 full-time workers in recent years. This statistic, while modest, masks the true risks inherent in the field; according to the latest IPFMA (International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations) over 5.5 million people work directly within the sector and indirect effects on jobs amount to 74.3 million jobs. Taking just the core industry, annual non-fatal incidents would equate to 88,000 people being hurt every year.
Given these statistics, ensuring worker safety has become a top priority for pharma companies.
Here are a few recent headlines that highlight the need for the industry to take this seriously:
So, how can the industry ensure worker safety?
As regulations tighten and companies are being driven to streamline their operations, and as production demands escalate, what measures can be applied to ensure that worker safety is protected to the greatest extent possible?
The significant risks faced by workers in the pharma sector prompted the early adoption of Control of Work (CoW) systems in the 1980s and 1990s. Initially, CoW systems were designed to manage high-risk activities and ensure that workers adhered to strict safety protocols.
Driven by regulatory pressure from agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the U.S. and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in Europe, pharma companies have implemented structured Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems. These systems ensured that high-risk tasks, such as hot work or confined space entries, were properly authorised and supervised.
In the initial stages, these CoW systems were paper based, requiring manual documentation and wet signatures, which could often be time-consuming and prone to human error. This also led to the rise of a series of admin-related challenges that hindered the workflow, such as complexity of documents, manually copying forms and writing signatures, difficulty in sharing, retrieving, or archiving documents, and inefficient auditing. Workers, including contractors, were made to wait for permits, often due to poor planning and visibility, and the resultant paperwork was often difficult to understand and follow. In situations of handwritten notes, legibility could also be challenging.
Industry 4.0
While Industry 4.0 benefits are widely known in other high hazard industries the approach towards it from the pharma sector has been relatively slow as companies worry about their systems, data, and readiness to implement.
According to a study by Bain C Company, the biggest obstacle for leadership teams planning to embrace pharma manufacturing 4.0 is integrating new and existing data systems. It shows that leading companies follow four guidelines when implementing Industry 4.0 technologies:
1. Define and manage the change as a business transformation, not a digital transformation. 2. Take a pragmatic approach to scaling innovative technologies. 3. Invest in capabilities for digital manufacturing. 4. Partner with best-in-class solution providers and learn from other industries.
The key is to choose the solution that best suits the business. Strong digital solutions are available, such as RAP4 from Yokogawa, which enables companies to connect with both their legacy systems and data, as well as providing an adaptable, best in-class, modular solution that lets them grow in accordance with future needs.
Pharma Manufacturing and Digital Control of Work
Having demonstrated value over many years, in hazardous industries such as refinery, chemicals, heavy manufacturing, and offshore amongst others, digital Control of Work systems are now being adopted by pharma manufacturing companies to enable safety culture excellence by helping workers to go about their activities in a smarter, safer way.
Digital Control of Work at its core provides safe environments built upon:

2. The correct authorisation happens to ensure that the right person, is doing the right job, at the right time
3. Enhanced visibility allowing all workers and management to have real-time information to monitor and act on accordingly
2. Effective communication and collaboration
Effective communications are key to worker safety in environments where complex processes and hazardous work are commonplace. A digital system:
1. This allows a clear collaborative and communicative approach enabling enhanced planning and makes potential SIMOPS easier to see and avoid.
2. Ensures that every activity, tool, and condition is accounted for, reducing the risk of accidents due to miscommunication or oversight.
3. Enables appropriate supporting documents to be attached meaning all the correct information is easily accessible and in one place.
3. Streamlined Processes and Workflow
Pharma manufacturing often requires strict controls over who is authorised to perform specific tasks. A robust digital Control of Work system:
1. Uses a best-in-class workflow to ensure relevant information for a job is presented and individual sections know what is going on and when
2. Expedites planning and authorization of work through online communication and authorisation, ensuring that work is only conducted by qualified personnel with the correct permissions resulting in enhanced safety compliance.
3. Mobile technology for in-field risk assessment and recording of information

When I started looking for a new job, I saw an opening and decided to apply,” said Balijepalle, a senior database administrator working at the Airspace Operations Laboratory (AOL) at NASA Ames. Eight and a half years later, she supports the researchers and developers who research next-generation solutions to advance aircraft technology and air traffic management. A journey into the unknown Balijepalle’s journey to NASA started thousands of miles away. She grew up in a small town in southern India, studying electrical engineering in college and establishing a career in information technology, working in C++ and Python. When her husband found a job opportunity in the United States, Balijepalle’s life took an unexpected turn. “I never planned to move to America,” said Balijepalle. “It was not easy to come here, even though my husband had a job. I stayed in India for almost nine months, before he found a different job that would help us with my visa and documentation.” After settling into her new country, growing her family, and developing in her new career, Balijepalle began to ponder her dream job at NASA. She and her younger daughter, a fellow space fan, enjoyed talking about the agency’s work in space, and when a Linux administrator position opened up, she jumped at the chance. A dream job becomes reality At the lab, Balijepalle was initially responsible for managing the lab’s Linux servers and applications. Today, she also supports researchers and developers with development, automation, and deployment of their work. “Latha is the lifeblood of the lab,” said Jeff Homola, co-leader of the Airborne Operations Laboratory at NASA Ames. “Without her unwavering dedication to making sure our systems are safe, secure, up to date, and running smoothly, we would not be able to do what we do in the lab.” One of Balijepalle’s proudest achievements during her NASA career is her language skills. Growing up, she spoke Telugu and Hindi, and learned English, but communication was still a challenge when she arrived at NASA. “I spoke English when I came to America, but not as well, and not using the technical language we use at NASA,” said Balijepalle. “I’m proud that I’ve improved my communications skills.” “Step outside your comfort zone” Looking back on the commute that changed her life, Balijepalle says she owes it all to being up to the challenge. “I wasn’t a risk taker, I didn’t think about stepping outside my comfort zone, but as I drove by NASA Ames each day, I started to think about astronauts. They step outside their comfort zone and leave the planet, so maybe I could take a risk, too.” For those who also dream of working at NASA one day, Balijepalle has some advice: try doing it her way. “Start thinking about it and manifesting your dream.
