After a palpable silence, Paul said, "Well, that's an interesting one" also known as "slowly dying inside"
Tumblr media
According to an article by the Daily Mail, this picture was taken by a fan on May 28, 1968. John Lennon coolly stares into the camera. Alongside him, George Harrison has in his shirt pocket a resignation letter from Paul McCartney – apparently written a full two years before he would eventually quit. Mr Herring says he took these intimate pictures of the Beatles after turning up uninvited on John’s doorstep, later sharing a car ride with him to George Harrison’s house to see the Beatles recording – and witnessing the opening of a letter said to announce McCartney’s resignation.
Could this have been Paul Mccartney's kneejerk reaction to having to listen to Two Virgins?
In his 1980 David Sheff interview John said: "After Yoko and I met, I didn’t realise I was in love with her. I was still thinking it was an artistic collaboration, as it were – producer and artist, right? We’d known each other for a couple of years." (also known as forcing myself to love someone to mend my broken heart because someone betrayed me)
As far timeline goes, John left India April 12, 1968. John then went to find his next best thing to "get back" at something someone did in India. In May 2, 1968 he made the "Two Virgins" tape with Yoko and presented it to his bandmates.
After a palpable silence, Paul said, “Well, that’s an interesting one.” ALSO NOW KNOWN AS "wait till I send you my resignation letter on May 28, 1968"
John then says: “You need to understand that this is where she and I are now. I don’t want to hold your hand anymore.” (this was directed to The Beatles - but we all know who it was for)
Ringo and George are just silent throughout the whole thing, because mother and father are fighting. And mother's heart is breaking.
So in conclusion, I want to hold your hand was their love song, huh.

If I FUCKING KNEW HOW TO SING
my voice would submerge in your blood
and my agony would be shared.
Efforts got you your present
I'm still stuck in between,
And I do know where it all went wrong
yet here I am,
crying to an Olivia Rodrigo song.
My self image is shattered,
as I sweep off the pieces of my broken heart.
The stronger I strive to be,
the weaker I seethe inside
and If I fucking knew how to sing
there would be sweet melodies
about this tragedy.
Disappointed,
are you?
I predicted it all too well in my head.
Only If I fucking knew how to sing
or had a sweet voice
I would scream out your name
but I don't,
So I carve out my own
on this wood
desperate to be known
to be cherished
all in the dire hopes
to get what you got
or to get my own.
I would sing all the melodies
and the anthems they make
to chisel out this envy
and wash out my pain
with the faint hope
to finally deserve.

Happiness Is A Warm Gun
According to John Lennon, he saw the title in a magazine issue of the American Rifleman: "I just thought it was a fantastic, insane thing to say. A warm gun means you just shot something."
This song was stuck in my head last week. I know a lot of fans think it's a sexual song for Ono and is about drugs. But I kind of interpret it as a song for the betrayed, the ones who didn't see it coming and all along realizing they pulled the trigger on themselves because they trusted/loved somebody (almost like doing yourself in).
Happiness is a gun loaded that could go off and shoot you anytime.
How your love for someone gives them the privilege to hurt you. How exciting that makes your experience of love until it actually ends badly.
When I hold you in my arms (ooh, oh, yeah) And I feel my finger on your trigger (ooh, oh, yeah) I know nobody can do me no harm (ooh, oh, yeah) Because Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is (bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
It's a satire of certainty that turned into a shooting. It's John Lennon's reality in 1968.

𑚞𑚮𑚣𑚭 𑚝𑚭 𑚑𑚭, 𑚝𑚭 𑚑𑚭, 𑚑𑚢𑚱 𑚤𑚲 𑚞𑚩𑚭𑚪 𑚠𑚱𑚛𑚭𑚫 𑚠𑚤𑚨 𑚤𑚩𑚮𑚣𑚭𑚫 𑚩𑚆~
“My love, don’t go, there are raindrops (bullets) falling in Jammu’s mountains.”
This is one of my very favourite sad songs. It follows the story of a soldier who is posted in Jammu. His wife is singing for him, saying that it is raining (bullets) in Jammu and asking him not to go and leave her. This is what war does. It takes away people and peace.
The metaphor behind this song is that anyone listening will image raindrops falling, when in reality it’s not water drops but firing of guns.
𑚙𑚲𑚤𑚲 𑚠𑚮𑚝𑚭 𑚊𑚲𑚚𑚯 𑚢𑚲𑚤𑚭 𑚑𑚯 𑚝𑚂𑚣𑚴 𑚥𑚌𑚛𑚭, 𑚙𑚙𑚭 𑚙𑚙𑚭 𑚝𑚯𑚤 𑚢𑚲𑚤𑚯 𑚀𑚸𑚮𑚣𑚭𑚫 𑚙𑚴 𑚦𑚌𑚛𑚭
She says, “tere bina kaithi mera jee naiyo lagda”. It strikes the heart. “Tata tata neer meri ankhiyan ton wagda”.
“My heart is restless without you, so that warm water falls down from my eyes.”
𑚙𑚲𑚤𑚲 𑚠𑚮𑚝𑚭 𑚞𑚮𑚣𑚭 𑚢𑚲𑚤𑚭 𑚩𑚴𑚤 𑚝𑚭 𑚊𑚴𑚃, 𑚀𑚢𑚭 𑚠𑚭𑚞𑚱 𑚐𑚖𑚯 𑚊𑚲 𑚢𑚳𑚫 𑚙𑚲𑚤𑚯 𑚩𑚴𑚃
In the second verse, she says, “Amma Bapu chhadi ke main teri hoi.” She’s left her parents and family for him yet he has to leave her helpless here. And I can’t help but think of thousands of such people who have to lose their loved ones to war.
