How do you feel about the various Marvel speedsters, most prominent of course being Quicksilver but also Northstar, Makkari and Speed?

Speed is baby and I love him. Seriously though I've been a Tommy fan for a long time. House of M was one of the first comics I've ever read. My parents took me to a comic book store and I hand picked it out of all the others. It was the first comic I chose to buy (albeit with my parent's money because I was a child). My younger brother was in the hospital at the time, he's better now but at the time it was hit or miss, and I was keeping him company so they wanted me to have something to read while he was comatose. I think I read that book front to back 50 times. Despite its faults House of M will always have a special place in my heart because of that.

The whole convoluted mess that is the Maximoff family is fantastic. Pietro and Tommy included. I'm particularly a fan of Speed though. He's great in the Young Avengers and whenever he shows up with Prodigy and I just really really really like the guy. He's like a kicked puppy in the rain. I wanna give him a blanket and food and another puppy to be friends with. He's so sad.

Pietro I like but in a 'oh my god he's such a fuck up, ain't he great?' kinda way. I really love him. He is such a fuck up though I swear to god. It's different from Tommy too. Tommy is a kid who just wants stability and love and is terrified of being hurt. His 'bad decisions' are a thinly veiled mask for a traumatized kid. But Pietro??? Pietro wakes up and says 'today I'm going to make the worst decisions possible' and then he does it. He kidnapped his daughter at one point, which almost caused a war, and then drugged her, with sacred religious and volatile drugs he stole, to give her powers, which could have killed her. He makes very bad decisions.

Northstar is a bit of an asshole. I'm going to be honest here... I'm not really a Northstar fan. I think it kinda defeats the purpose of Marvel having speedsters in the first place if Northstar is ten times faster than them. It'd be like if Superman was faster than the Flash. It just kinda sucks the air out of Marvel speedsters in general. Like, cool, this random mutant can fly way faster than the speedsters and they have no chance in hell at being faster than him. That's great I guess.

Makkari I'm not super familiar with. I do like Marvel but I definitely don't have the same in-depth knowledge on Marvel lore as I do for DC lore.

Oh also there's Speedball. I think he would count as a speedster? It's been a while since I've read his stuff. If I remember correctly he absorbs energy and then uses it to bounce around at superspeed and create kinetic energy fields. He's connected to space and time and he can control kinetic energy and motion. He can control his molecules and one time he used his kinetic energy to make a suit. He doesn't run but he's still the closest thing Marvel has to a DC speedster.

It is.... extremely unfortunate what happened to him. They took a good, fun loving, nice, happy and wholesome guy and made him the catalyst for Civil War. Had him be responsible for a city blowing up. Took this sweet kind guy and made him a reckless asshole who killed thousands. Then they gave him an edgy make over and had him come back as the darker meaner bader version of himself. Anyway. I was a Speedball fan. Civil War trashed his character though.

My coworker and I are having such vastly different BG3 experiences. I'll mention something lore related like Rolan and Lorroakan or Gale's tressym or even just Dammon's entire character and he seems so confused. He just isn't interacting with the plot. On the reverse, I... Am not good at combat. Every fight is a struggle for survival and I often need 5 or 6 attempts to get through anything big. College of lore vs college of swords. He might be able to do huge amounts of damage per turn but I know that Haarlep keeps an intimacy guidebook on the edge of the bathtub.

Koschei's Sleeping Beauty retelling 🌹

I've found Koschei's sleeping beauty details so here it is

_In the tale, it is said that once Koschei focuses his gaze on the chosen princess, he is capable of exerting a powerful influence over her. He recites ancient, arcane words, and the maiden collapses gracefully, falling into a deep, unbreakable sleep, immune to the passage of time.

_ Koschei was described to be surrounded by shadows and swirling mist. He then takes the princess to his grand hall with a bone throne, where she waits for the hero who can break the spell.

*In SF:

The being that stood atop the lake was a shadow. It must be a reflection, Cassian thought. Smoke and mirrors. "Where is Briallyn?" Azriel demanded, Siphons flaring like cobalt flame. “I spend so many months preparing for you,” Koschei crooned, “and you don’t even wish to speak to me?”

*Koschei in the book is described as a shadow being as in the tale. Plus he could be trying to lure Azriel to the lake because once he can fix his gaze on him he'll be able to manipulate him with his power and enchant him with unbreakable sleep.

What I think is that Koschei could have been trapped in the lake using the Starsword, so he needs the TT to undo it. That's why he wants Az because he owns the dagger, so he could curse him with eternal sleep and try to make Elain free him from the lake in exchange for breaking Azriel's curse.

_In the tale, the only way to break the enchantment is through an instrument called the gusli which is very similar to the harp.

Gusli. Harp.

_The strings of the gusli are made of pure silver and inbued with encient magic, when played correctly they emit a powerful, harmonic resonance that can break the spell and awaken the princess.

*In SF, the harp has ancient magic in its strings, and they are also made of silver:

The golden Harp, covered in intricate embossing, set with silver strings.

The small strings are for games—light movement and leaping—but the longer, the final ones … Such deep wonders and horrors we could strum into being.

_In the tale, for the Gusli's magic to work, it should be played by a hero who is pure of heart and noble intent.

*We know that Elain can use the harp because she's a cauldron made, and we also know that she has a different kind of strength:

“Elain had always been gentle and sweet—and I had considered it a different kind of strength. A better strength. To look at the hardness of the world and choose, over and over, to love, to be kind. She had always been so full of light.”

She is someone pure of heart, and her love for Azriel will definitely be strong and pure, so I think that could be another reason why she's the one who can break his curse 🥰

My theory about the harp is that, since in Hofas it was said that it can transfer one's power to the soul of another. Therefore, Elain may be able to give a portion of her life power to Az's soul through the harp to awaken him.

FINALLY.

FINALLY I MANAGED TO CREATE A CHARACTER FOR MR. DEKARIOS AND FINALLY I FOUND A STORY FOR THEM.

Allow me to finally show you my darling Hiraeth!

I am still finalizing her backstory, but I am already pretty much set on the fact that Hiraeth made her pact with Titania as a child, after ending up in the Feywild one time too many.

Ever the dreamer, Hiraeth has a cheeky attitude and a joie-de-vivre that I think would truly counterbalance Gale's more serious disposition. But in truth, she is A HUGE DORK. She is intelligent, passionate, kind and genuine (she cannot fake it till you make it not even if her life was on the line), impish, playful and mischievous. and she is particularly apt at dreamwalking inside the Dreamscape.

I like to imagine that they already met before the beginning of BG3, as children in the streets of Waterdeep and later while Hiraeth was performing for the Witchlight Carnival as Saltimbanco and Trapezist.

I will write more about her once I am actually able to sit down probely and finalize her story!

I am so excited for this, because FINALLY I CAN DRAW HER SMOOCHING GALE.

The Mask-Making Artisan 👺

I showed sneak peeks on IG for what my sona would look like in the Wakfu AU, but I made small updates in their design to what you see here now.

While they can make many forms of art and trinkets, their specialty is to craft masks inbued with memories as a way to preserve moments of history during Ogrest's Chaos. One who wears them would experience the exact moments that they had went through at the time, including sight, sound and touch.

Ranking a typical person's enemies in Old Mondstadt out of 10

Slimes - 1/10 Yes they can hurt you but you can run away easily. Not a problem. Until they get big. The big ones don't get through the storm barriers though

Whooperflowers - 3/10 Again mostly limited to outside of the city, but if the occational one sneaks in as a mint plant you may want to keep your distance. And call for guards

Human guards - 3/10 Just keep your head down around them. They're not paid enough for this they don't want to do this, but if you do do any sort of questionable rebellious activity around them and are caught then you're in trouble they get rewarded well for catching that

Boars - 4/10 Again limited to outside of the city but they can and will slam into you often fracturing a bone and healthcare in the city is. Near nonexistant

Cincins - 2/10 Look, outside of the city is a dangerous place! Don't go outside the wind barrier! These things don't hurt much but they're speedy and will chase you down

Eye of the Storm - 4/10 Decarabian's mass produced simple surveillance/guard anemo bots. They are made of wind and the city is already very windy so they blend in easily and are plentiful which means you can easily be followed for days without realizing and if you're not careful, you've given away the secret meeting place for your secret rebellion meetings. But if you follow the laws and rules you have nothing to fear — while these guys inspect your every action for something they can imprision you for whether you're guilty or not. At least they're destroyable.

Rats - 8/10 Get out of the grains !!! GET OUT OF THE GRAINS WE'RE ALREADY STARVING !!!!!

Anemo evolved rats - 6/10 They no longer eat grain to survive but they can and will blow the grains out of your grain storage for their less evolved brethren to rejoice

Foxes - 5/10 Again they're sly little things who thrive in the cities and will try to steal food but they also catch mice and one may have invented wine so we'll dock a few points for them

Anemo evolved foxes - 6/10 Yes they now catch the anemo evolved rats but they're also very tricky little things who think they can take on a human carrying their hard-earned rations home and nine times out of ten they'll send a strong gust of wind to blow the food out of your hands into an alleyway before you even realize what's happening

Swirling Storms - 7/10 Decarabian is a powerful god, it's not hard for him to create offshoots of himself to quell any rebellion. While they're 'just' anemo energy, the dangerous thing about it is that it can inbue itself into anything lying around turning said object now into an anemo enemy. Common varients include

Swirled Tailoring - 6/10 Often taken right out of some surprised tailor's hands who was still in the process of sewing only for their clothes to come to life with the thread and needle still attached. Their offensive attacks with the needle aren't very strong but they excel at restraining their foes

Swirled Automaton - 6.5/10 All those stone buildings and stone carvings in the stone buildings means there is a lot of rock dust in the construction district, and the storm swirls up this dust into the form of a humanoid who stomps behind ready to punch you into the wall. Again we remind you health care is near nonexistant in old mondstadt

Swirled Dust Cloud - 3/10 If there isn't enough rock dust left over these clouds will be created instead. They're only rated three out of ten due to mostly obstructing your vision and slowing you down, though if the average life expectancy was any higher they'd get a 8/10 for how much breathing it in destroys your lungs

Swirled Flour - 6/10 The good thing about these is you can see the dust slowly gathering into a white cloud and have time to run. The bad news is once it also swirls a pyro source into itself the resulting explosion will burn and blast you away

Swirled Arrow - 7/10 Have you ever wanted to be impalled by dozens of arrows aimed at you all at once? With Swirling Storms, this process no longer requires dozens of bowman!

Anemo worms - 5/10 Another form of further-evolved creatures, these live in the ground but surface to absorb anemo, and can grow to dangerous sizes. Are known to cause sinkholes. If you stand where one surfaces, you will fall and get burried in the ground

Swirled Elements - 7/10 The prominent, aristocratic clans all live closer to Decarabian's tower, with nicer things to their names. Hence their wine is more pure, skilled in their use of heat for blacksmithing, candles burn more cleanly, gardens that actually contain life. Hence it's easier for the Swirling Storms to draw other elements to imbue itself with and inflict extra damage in whatever they possess and swirl. Alas, they still remain but a small fragment of Decarabian's power

Storming Wisps - 8/10 This is the start of Decarabian's actual magical defense. Do not mistake these for the cute and friendly wind wisps — these are knife sharp strands of wind that travel fast and will pierce anyone they deem an enemy

Storming Hounds - 9/10 Based off the wolves that reside outside of the barrier, they're large and will chase you down and bite and hold on to you, not letting you go. They work in packs and will round you into their traps either for soldiers to finish you off or to finish you off themselves

Anemo hoppers - 7/10 Proximity traps burried with one or two other elements to swirl when they're set off.

Anemo turrets - 8.5/10 They take a while to deploy themselves, but once they're deployed they shoot a steady stream of Storming Wisps straight at their foe

Decarabian's Soldiers - 10/10 Trained in both physical weapons and anemo use, not only are they dangerous up close putting yourself at risk of getting stabbed by a sword, but are also well versed in using the Storming Wisps and Hounds to capture their enemies before apprehending them. Many are also expert bowman. Luckily it seems many are also slowly tiring of Decarabian's rule and may be able to be swayed...

Decarabian Himself - 100000/10 This is a god
