This article, which was shown in class, was really interesting to read/view a second time. The recording via photographs of how an area is developed over time is a good example of how to use the medium of photography informatively and to tell a story.

I like how the photographer has a connection to the place and it's shown by how intimate and personal a lot of the photos are. I also like how the photographers feel neutral not against or for the change, which he states in the article.

My favourite photo shows the contrast between old and new. How the past looked, and the present is now. How the two look side by side and how oddly sad it is the present is taking over all the history.

This weekend I’m remembering why I love our little ‘hood! Lively Rib Fest, rainy Saturday morning dog walks, sunny Sunday morning lattes and breakfast sandwiches at the local coffee shop, and all the great sights in between! Another pic from the sunset last week. Note that I say "the sunset". Of course the sun sets every day. Whether we see it or not is another matter. But this amazing of a sunset is rather rare here., although I have seen a few through the years. Before that evening it was clear, cloudless skies. Since that sunset it has basically been raining. So here in the Pacific NW, we take them when we can get them. But not really knowing when a sunset will really pop, I wasn't ready for this one so I wasn't in a good spot for the capture. Therefore, you only have the trees of the forest around my house. Maybe I'll have to do some more landscaping just for such occasions. But it would need to have tall features that I'm not sure would work well with the tall trees. And that is why I will never get a picture of the sun actually setting from my house. Ah well, the search for the perfect pic continues while I just enjoy my spot in the woods with the tall trees, clean air, and the star filled skies (when there aren't any clouds). Though I strive for better pictures, I will also try to remember to be content in what I do have, because the perfect anything will never come. Sept 2021 .
