Being an SPN fan and being a Criminal Minds fan are like comorbidities. They happen together more often than they happen apart. If you love one, 9 times out of ten you either already love the other or you WOULD if you sat down to watch it.
Someone should run a study on that. Or a poll but I don’t know how to make those. Someone test my hypothesis, please!

"Angels have very colorful wings" factoid actually statistical error. Castiel Supernatural, whose wings glitter in every shade of the rainbow both visible and inconceivable, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

Thanks for this creative tag, @amplifyme-- had a lot of fun. :DDD
show your 4 favorite ships and let your mutuals assume what your concept of romance is
Mulder and Scully, The X-Files
...I don't really ship characters or people like I used to (Mulder and Scully are an exception, of course-- aren't they always?); so, I'm digging deep to uncover these last three positions:
2. Robin and Marian, Robin Hood BBC
3. Han and Leia, Star Wars
4. Indiana and Marion, Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark
(Spoilers: Ironically, all these relationships have a "will-they-won't-they" element that I like to skip on rewatches.)
Tagging @baronessblixen, @dd-is-my-guiltypleasure, @welsharcher, @agent-troi, @deathsbestgirl, @suitablyaggrieved, @cecilysass, @thescullyphile, @virtie333, @spidey-is-tired, @numinousmysteries, @stephy-gold, @living-in-unreality, @demon-fetal-harvest, @nachosncheeze, @nimlurks, and whoever else wants to join~!
#mine#tagged#interesting#this was fun!#thanks for the tag~#txf#MSR#Robin Hood BBC#I wanted to BE Marian#(though her plotline got old and she was very poorly written out of the show)#Indiana Jones#Star Wars#my childhood was filled with Disney movies and Harrison Ford Star Wars and Indiana Jones and LOTR and King Kong (2005?)#didn't watch BBC Robin Hood until we discovered the powers of Netflix#saw Dr. Who but never got into Supernatural#(and these were all gateway drugged to me because my older sibling was a BIG movie lover)

I was one of the anons that didn’t know what to think when I first saw the Sam/Dean tag on See Something Say Something but now I’m like. You know what fuck it, you write it well. I look forward to every chapter and i apologize for being a hater
LOOOL you are forgiven we have all guzzled hatorade at some point
during my initial foray into supernatural (when i was watching the early seasons in real time) i didn't ship them at all until i read a crack fic as a joke
The incestuous courtship of the antichrist's bride by fleshflutter
summary: Sam is trying to become the Antichrist in order to save the world. He has a small army of angels and demons, he has an adoring cult, he has a work of prophecy by Jack Kerouac, and he has Dean. Things are going pretty well until he accidentally signs Dean up as his Beloved Consort, a role that requires sex with the Antichrist on an altar. And that's when things stop going pretty well. Also, the soundtrack to the Apocalypse sucks.
it has no business being as unbelievably good as it is, but also it was my first fleshflutter fic so i didn't know what i was getting myself into. it's one of my favorite fics in any fandom just because the balance of crack and horror and love and humor is so finely done that you just have to go damn. even if i hated everything about this fic i would still love it
but i was like, okay, just because this fic was good doesn't mean i really ship it. like what's wrong with just a freaky little codependent brotherly relationship? the ship mostly just exists because they're hot
then i read Stranger Than Fiction by nyxocity
summary: Meta-comedy/drama set immediately post-4x18, The Monster at the End of This Book. Dean can't stop wondering why people would write gay porn about him and Sam. Research takes him to interesting places; re-reading novels for subtext, visiting message boards, and a really freaky place called LiveJournal. What he discovers is a sick fascination with fanfiction, more about gay sex than he ever wanted to know, and an even deeper obsession with understanding why people write this stuff. Meanwhile, they're hunting a mysterious monster that takes the form of a person's truest love to kill them slowly, the lines between fanfiction and reality are starting to break down, and they still have to stop Lilith and save the world.
which reads like it's crack, which is probably why i clicked on it, and isn't really. not only did the author convince sam and dean, they also convinced me. i was like okay fine you make a compelling argument
and when supernatural sucked me in this time a decade later, i was once more like well! yeah wincest is fine but i really am just a sucker for a good fucked up brotherly relationship. no need to be a folgers commercial about it
then i read It's the Blueprint of Your Life by queenklu
summary: Sam jerks awake in the middle of the night and everything goes to hell. Well, not literally, though Dean is staring down the barrel of less than a year before his deal comes due. In the midst of dealing (or not dealing) with his impending death, a killer ghost ship, and Bela showing up out of the blue, Dean also has to figure out what’s going on in Sam’s head to make him so twitchy, why he’s suddenly breezing through this case while writing endless notes in a notebook he won’t let Dean see. Damn it, Dean thinks, This is gonna take a lot of chickflick moments.
which is not only one of my very favorite supernatural fics but the one that made me throw up my hands and go fine!! i ship it then!! are you happy now?
pleased and honored to be your gateway drug in these trying times <3
#the wincest fic writers are really something else#they're just so good? i have no choice#also i tend to find sex scenes boring and will often skip them because they're not character driven enough#but you know what wincesties have down to a fucking art? really good and compelling character driven and character exploratory sex scenes#i'm looking at you goshen#asks#anon#supernatural

Alright no, I need to go into detail on this shit cause I swear to god, it lives rent free in my head. I'll split the post off here cause there's gonna be some spoilers for Lisa the Undone as well as a few other Lisa Fan Games that are on my mind
I'm also giving a CW here, cause Lisa covers some dark topics, and I want to unload it a bit here, especially given what I've seen out of Lisa the Undone.
Buckle up, it's gonna be a long, very autistically hyperfixated post.
So
I initially never really got into Lisa when it first came out. I was a shitlord that saw the fan content first, especially this project known as Interlopers - essentially, a Lisa-Undertale crossover featuring Buddy Armstrong and Chara Dreemur.
It piqued my interest a bit, but I never realized how one sided it was in exploring this stuff, especially given it was this crossover AU. It focused mainly on the Undertale fandom and some of the things that were popular at the time. It WAS going to explore its own version of Olathe on a sequel series but that was canceled later on, and the idea has become dormant since.
Later on, my curiosity grew and I looked into the Lisa side of things more. I discovered Lisa the Pointless, Lisa the Hopeful, and then I started looking into other fan projects here too.
Why this pretext? Because that was the gateway into Lisa proper.
I only got Lisa the Painful and Lisa the Joyful after its definitive edition released. At this point, I was pretty well versed in Brad's story - his trauma and pain, the struggles he faces after, the Joy abuse to numb the pain - so when I saw the campfire scenes between Brad and the other party members, especially with members like Terry or Queen Rodger, Bo and Olan, it sparked something there that's for fucking sure.
And then I got to the secret boss.
I'm a dude thar enjoys reading into shit, looking deep at the meaning of written projects be it games, movies, books, etc - Lore is my god damn drug, to put it in a TL:DR.
Seeing this huge call back to Lisa the First, Seeing the symbolism of joy spiders worshipping a Blue Eclipse above Brad's childhood home, fighting the manifestation of Marty Armstrong and reading the deeper, personal stuff that's said afterwards
That song, too, towards the very end of the sequence, with the music that's reminiscent of s church choir singing as Brad's childhood self descends into the darkness
That's what truly sold me on Lisa.
I know everyone has mixed feelings on Lisa the Joyful of course, especially in the way it handled Buddy - Some people were fine with it, and others didn't like the way she became this bloodthirsty girl out to murder shit indiscriminately
I say fair enough honestly, Joyful was a bit of a slog to get through compared to Painful
HOWEVER
There were two things I still enjoyed about it:
One, Dustin. Dustin was and still is the goddest boy despite his own flaws, and I was upset it wasn't explored more before his untimely death. Buddy actually starting to care about him before it all went downhill was tragic in its own right
Two, the DE content. Again, a lot of people were still mixed on it, but personally I saw it as a better expansion into Buddy healing from her trauma, understanding that- while Brad certainly was in the wrong in the way he raised her, he still tried his best in a world that definitely wanted to exploit her in the most horrific ways imaginable.
I'm fine with her even mentioning Lisa cause let's all be real here, she's definitely at least heard of her through Brad in some way, shape or form, and the ending bit where he explains the dead flower to her only reinforces that for me.
The more supernatural side of things feel interesting too, cause maybe it's just me, but reading into things, The Flash always had this sort of supernatural spin to it - how Olathe got so fucked up, how time doesn't seem to be entirely right in some areas or how everything got all mountainous and the likes. Probably just headcanon stuff but fuck it, I enjoy the speculation.
AND NOW, THE MOMENT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR: LISA THE UNDONE.
So, with that context out of the way, I'll get into my proper thoughts with Lisa: The Undone.
Firstly, again I know not everyone will really agree with the ideas the Definitive Edition put out, especially in the case of Joyful with its Lisa the First callback and Buddy just slamming on Buzzo the way she does. That being said, I love the way Lisa the Undone tackles these ideas Joyful initially set our and explores them more.
The idea of Buddy being less hateful at first, just wanting to genuinely explore the weird and wacky world of Olathe despite its darkness is very welcome. With Dustin especially, this is only amplified.
A lot of the headcanoned and original stuff feel like they can fit right into the base Lisa games too honestly, and that's another thing I really appreciate about this fan gams
But the most important thing to me is the found family relationship between Dustin and Buddy, as well as the two other companions you can recruit.
Dustin is by no means perfect. This is undeniable enough given his actions in Painful and Joyful - He wants to do good, but it becomes a bit of a messiah complex especially for Buddy - who mind you, is only a pubescent kid during all of this shit. This is still translated well in this fan game, just less of a prominent character point - He still wants Buddy to have a good life and to be safe, but there's a clear struggle with seeing her as the Future of Olathe
And seeing her as just Buddy. Just Her.
And the fact that over the time, throughout the chapters, you see Dustin refer to her less as this important figure for the world and more as like a sibling, or just straight up family, that right there is what sells me on this.
Especially towards the end, where depending on your choices in the game, Buddy does eventually admit she can't help but care about people like Dustin.
That hits. That hits a good fucking bit.
And that's what I love to see in this. Sure, it may end with one of the two dying in part 2 of Undone, or depending on your actions it may end with tragedy for either of them
But the fact it works this found family dynamic so God damn well here, with how Buddy and Dustin care for each other AS that family despite Brad's own fuck-ups between the both of them.
Fuck man. It's good, and I hope this fandom explores it more here - especially with DE putting things into an interesting context too.
On a side note, God I also hope it explores DE's Warlord skills mechanics in the future, it's some god damn martial arts shit I love. Sure it may be Mega Man-esque bur god dammit the idea of Buddy learning and incorporating some ideas given from how each Warlord fights is SUCH a good idea and if there's ever a fan game that had Buddy exploring the greater world of Olathe, meeting the likes of Alex Churchland or Beltboy and shit like that, I wanna see her develop her own form of martial arts with or without the katana she's grown accustomed with god dammit.
God, I love Lisa. I love these games as much ad Undertale and Deltarune, and I need to write out some more shit for this series.
Thanks Austin Jorgensen you god damn mad man, and thanks to the Fandom for putting out such genuine bangers.

mystic falls is a picturesque town located in central virginia with a then population of 6,923 people; it remains unknown what the current population is after closing and eventual restart. aside from the town’s foundation in 1860 by the founding families, the town also has a long history of vampires, witches and werewolves, causing mystic falls to be an uncanny village with a dark secret. many famous historical occurrences have taken place in mystic falls. to it’s long term and born n’ raised residents, the longer you stay here the harder it is to escape. it is rich with deep rooted historical value and constant supernatural happenings. now that vampires have mainstreamed in the modern day; everything just seems to keep comin’ out of the wood work. who knows what gonna happen next, but betcha anything somethin’ will happen.
great revelation
it’s just been revealed that supernatural characters exist with the release of the invention of tru blood, a synthetic blood substitute. the synthetic blood was produced and manufactured into the world as a huge step in allowing vampires to “come out of the coffin.” this synthetic blood was the opening gateway for vampires to mainstream and walk among the living, protesting for peace and understanding with the human race. along with mainstreaming a group of vampires called the vampire authority made headway with giving vampires rights, establishing the american vampire league; a very public and outspoken organization that works with the north american government in allowing vampires to have legal rights akin to human rights. the fight for these rights persist, the red states making it harder and harder with moving forward to make history. however in the wake of all this controversy it’s only natural that an erosion of chaos formulates to deter all good efforts. rumor has it that there’s a a way to allow vampires to walk in the sunlight, all the time. very few vampires have daylight jewelry and with the excessive effort hunters have put forth now more than ever it’s important to make yourself a harder target. with rumors as substantial as this, the most obvious thing to do is find the resources to start producing this incredible jewelry to a wide variety of vampire population . with all the god forsaken happenings that harbor in this town it’s no wonder why vampires such as bill compton and stefan salvatore find themselves in mystic falls.

by Carl R. Trueman | This points to their value in today’s debates. One of the striking lacunae on both the right and left wings of the Christian political spectrum is the general absence of any reference to the transcendence of God and the supernatural nature of the church. Immanent concerns rule the day. The pundits on both sides seem…

thank you!! 💖💖
2. What was the first smut fic you ever read?
Gosh, I really don't remember at all. It might have been Supernatural fic way way back in the day. In Silm, it was probably daphnerunning's turleg epic Outlast the Forests (which I'm going to list here even though it's got a lot going on besides the smut parts!). Getting into this ship and rediscovering my past love of Children of Húrin was a gateway drug for me in terms of then getting into the Silmarillion itself!
16. What do you think is the sexiest part of actual Tolkien canon? Inclusive of the books, onscreen depictions, etc.
Every day I decide another thing I like is the new sexiest thing about Tolkien canon. But here are a handful:
Ossë
Goldberry
Thingol and Maedhros dialogue
"Maedhros laughed"
Maglor "young when Laurelin yet bloomed" 💕🌸💓💐💗😭💋
Sauron-Melian magics meeting to create a twilit horror zone
"For little price do Elven-kings sell their daughters"
Liv Tyler Arwen

Really depends what kind of narrative you're interested in. There's actually a lot of options these days!
Welcome to Night Vale has a fun, weird vibe that occasionally dives into horror, the supernatural, political commentary, and heartfelt messages about the nature of humanity. Narrative arcs are very fulfilling and you'll know right away if it works for you or not. Much of the series is locked to Cecil, especially in the early seasons, we occasionally branch out to new narrators later in. But broadly, if you don't like Cecil, you won't like the show. Strongly recommend trying the first episode and if it's not hitting you right, try the next thing.
There's a lot of horror lovers out there who will sing the praises of The Magnus Archives. While it's a bit of a gateway drug to horror, it's not my favorite tbh. So I'm going to make a pitch for Old Gods of Appalachia. If you're from the United States, I think this podcast is a must listen. If you're not from the US, I think it's still great, you just may not enjoy it as much. The Old Gods of Appalachia is horror, yes, but it's also fairy tale and myth, it's historical fiction, it's an examination of some of the most tragic and ugly roots of US culture. There are some pretty rough descriptions here, a lot of nasty looking monsters and violence, I won't lie. But it has powerful, fulfilling narrative arcs and if you're at all interested in magic, there's a pretty compelling magic system here. I have a personal fascination with some of these foundational stories, reworked in this eldritch setting. I think it's doing great work, but some of the bloodier chapters are not for everyone, that must be admitted. I'd try the first season to see if it works for you. The first couple of episodes set up a pitched overplot that surfaces from time to time as more linear plots take up season arcs. I do recommend, even if horror is not typically your bag.
Also gotta give a shout out to Malevolent, if you're a horror lover. Malevolent is loosely based on The King in Yellow by R. W. Chambers, but so much more than that. I can't say very much without spoiling, but if you like your stories dark and twisted, look no further. Also, it's voiced almost exclusively by one guy, did I mention that? Harlan Guthrie is a powerhouse if you want to see some excellent voice acting.
Moving on to lighter fare, the Amelia Project has recently become a love of mine. Boisterous, delightful, funny, it's about a death-faking company whose clients will never be as bizarre as the staff. It's really funny, especially in the first few seasons which are mostly self-contained episodes, sort monster of the week except it's a client with a dumb problem that our eccentric Interviewer must solve. There's cocoa, champagne, and a much longer story than you probably expect. There's eventually a turn as world governments begin to investigate our little gang of criminals and our stories, while still about death-faking, become ever more about the people who perform these services. There's a lot of meditation on what it means to die, what it means to live. I'd say if you like parts of Doctor Who, up to you what that means, or if Night Vale was working for you, then this will probably be your jam. Much like with Night Vale, try the first episode and you'll probably know right away whether this works for you or not. Oh, and for reference, the deaths are never cruel or grisly, this is a comedy; the more unlikely and ridiculous the disappearance, the better.
Those are my favorite currently producing shows. I'm also a big fan of Within the Wires, Stellar Firma, and It Makes a Sound but there's no new episodes for those and there's unlikely to be any for awhile, if ever. But it can be nice to experience something that's over.
Within the Wires is a woman-centric story about an alternative 20th century. It even has a novel end cap, You Feel It Just Below The Ribs, that hits like a hammer blow. Each season is a discrete story which can give you a chance to sample 1 or 2 to see if it's something you like. I recommend starting with season 1, it's still my favorite, but after that you could kinda listen to any season you liked.
Stellar Firma is... a disaster. The Brothers Meredith, of Magnus Archives and Rusty Quill fame, put together a screwball comedy about a planet terraforming service in the distant future starring Trexel Geistman an extremely entitled idiot whose parents never loved him and his long-suffering clone servant David 7 who does his best to keep the whole place from burning down in one of Trexel's tantrums. It's fantastically funny and largely improvised except for general plot threads.
It Makes a Sound is about living with dementia, losing your mother, your identity, your sense of the world and the struggling connections that make all of it bearable. It's about being willing to see the beauty, even if it's cringe, even if you look like a dork and feel like a dork. The music, and there is much music, is excellent and the story is heartfelt. There are no spooky monsters or wacky hijinks, just a lot of people doing their best. I have cried listening to this and I will again. It's a sweet, funny, sad story and it makes me feel very, very alive.
So there's a lot of different flavors out there. Eventually you'll find yours. Happy listening!
So I now have a >1hr commute 3-4x a week. I need narrative podcasts and I know nothing about podcasts.
I'm considering getting into WTNV? I guess? It's literally the only one I know of with a narrative.
Suggestions????

First time listening to TMA (Part II)
Part I
7-15
#7 The Piper: How depressing and the creepy vibes were very good. Loved the different facets/faces of War.
#8 Burned out: fell victim to the can’t listen to podcast if doing too much or little, but still managed to get some story. The priest felt a bit random but liked the hallucinations being questioned.
#9 A Father's Love: didn’t think this would have a sort of weird creature, though it might be more of a ghost variety. Hope we know more of this cult thing later on, could be interesting.
#10 Vampire Killer: Not bad, but kinda mid honestly. I do like that it kinda goes back to what John said about drugs being like gateways or something for supernatural experiences.
#11 Dreamer: wow just wow. The story captivated me from the beginning and of course it’s a very interesting premise. But the way it ends just gives me chills. John doesn’t usually give much of a reaction other than some dry comments or contempt, to feel him unsettled is so cool. And also feels like it’s starting to set up a few things. Maybe this has something to do with the end of the whole podcast? I did spoil it a bit for myself a few months ago but I’ve already forgotten many things/details. Also this gave me some really cool visuals, hope to see more from this storyline in the future.
#12 First Aid: Creepy vibes, into it. Particularly because hospitals that should be active not having anyone is very creepy. Knew I should be paying more attention to names within the statements, I’m gonna have to go back to see who this Gerard Keys(??) is.
omg he’s from the creepy book with the ghost of a woman. Apparently he’s the one who burns the book and killed his mother, so that’s something. Two times he’s been connected to fire/burning and that he’s appeared in statements, so he’s gonna a be relevant then. Nice.
#13 Alone: that was a great atmosphere!! Loved the audio being slightly different while she tells her story/statement from the rest of the recording. Also that bit at her end where she’s like “why did I bother?”, loved that, feels very real.
#14 Piecemeal: ohhh mystery, I want to know more! Creepy vibes and no real answer. Poor Martin is thought a fool but he’s not actually bad at his job since he found (I think) this Angela.
#15 Lost John’s Cave: what a terrible episode to end my night in. By terrible I mean it has left me very afraid and creeped out, so good execution bad for me since it’s 2am and I now have to try to sleep. Such a good audition of the audio from the cave, so very horrifying (on the other hand barely understandable, had to go to transcripts to see what it said). Great descriptions, gave me chills and nearly anxiety while actually having a lot of room and light around me.
I’ll stop there for now since I will not be listening to Arachnophobia while it’s dark out, I do actually also have arachnophobia so I need time to prepare myself. But god it’s so addictive, I want to listen to more!

I'm am average guy. Seriously, just average. Like you. So, I just turned 50, set in my ways, blah, blah, blah. But then I thought, what could I be missing?
I decided to start working out in VR with a program called Supernatural. It became my gateway drug.
Now, I am asking the hard questions about health and wellness. I've learned about essential oils, water I drink, food I eat, air I breath, what I clean with, the exercise I get, and most importantly, the sleep I get!!!
I don't know it all and that's why I need you. Let's learn, grow, and improve together. I'm starting a live, no edits, web based radio station that focuses on everything health and wellness. I mean everything is on the table. What works for you?
Tag, follow, pin, add, or whatever you do to keep an eye on me. When we go live I need you to have my back, and in return, I'll have your back.
