What is a Landing Page & Why is it Important?
In the fast-paced world of digital marketing, a landing page plays a critical role in converting visitors into leads or customers. Understanding how to create an effective landing page is essential for businesses looking to enhance their online presence and drive conversions. In this blog, we’ll explore what a landing page is, its significance, and the key elements that contribute to its effectiveness.
Definition of a Landing Page?
A landing page is a standalone web page specifically designed for a marketing campaign. Unlike regular web pages that serve multiple purposes, a landing page focuses on a single objective: converting visitors into leads or customers. This could involve prompting users to fill out a form, sign up for a newsletter, download an eBook, or make a purchase.
Why is a Landing Page Important?
Higher Conversion Rates: Landing pages are crafted with one goal in mind: conversion. By concentrating on a single offer and minimizing distractions, they can significantly boost conversion rates compared to standard web pages.
Targeted Marketing: A well-designed landing page allows you to tailor your message to specific audiences. This targeted approach makes it easier to address the needs and concerns of your potential customers, leading to higher engagement.
Data Collection: Landing pages often include forms that gather valuable information about your visitors. This data can be leveraged for follow-up marketing efforts and refining future campaigns.
SEO Benefits: Optimizing your landing pages for search engines can improve your website's overall SEO performance. By incorporating relevant keywords like "landing page web design," you can attract organic traffic that is more likely to convert.
A/B Testing Opportunities: Landing pages provide an excellent platform for A/B testing different elements such as headlines, CTAs, and layouts. This experimentation helps identify what resonates best with your audience and enhances overall performance.
Improved ROI: Effectively converting visitors into leads or customers contributes to better return on investment (ROI) for your marketing campaigns.
How Do You Create an Effective Landing Page?
Creating an effective landing page involves several key steps:
Define Your Goal: Start by clarifying the action you want visitors to take—whether it's signing up for a newsletter, downloading a resource, or making a purchase.
Craft a Compelling Headline: Your headline should be engaging and clearly communicate the value of your offer at first glance.
Use Persuasive Subheadings: Follow your headline with subheadings that provide additional context and encourage visitors to continue reading.
Incorporate Strong Visual Elements: Use high-quality images or videos that relate to your offer, as visuals can significantly enhance user engagement.
Write Informative Body Copy: Focus on the benefits of your offer rather than just listing features. Address potential objections and explain how your product or service solves a problem.
Include a Clear Call-to-Action (CTA): Ensure your CTA stands out visually and uses action-oriented language, making it easy for visitors to take the desired action.
Optimize for Mobile Devices: Ensure that your landing page is responsive and looks good on all devices since many users will access it via smartphones or tablets.
Remove Distractions: Eliminate navigation links and other distractions that could divert attention away from the primary goal of the landing page.
Test and Iterate: Utilize A/B testing to experiment with different headlines, images, and CTAs to discover what resonates best with your audience.
The Essential Elements of Every Landing Page
To ensure your landing page is effective, it should include the following critical elements:
Captivating headlines draw visitors in and encourage them to explore further.
Provides additional information that complements the headline.
Engaging images or videos that support your message and enhance user experience.
Clearly explains the benefits of your offer while addressing potential concerns.
A prominent button or link that encourages visitors to take action.
Testimonials or case studies can build trust and credibility.
Make it easy for visitors to reach out if they have questions.
Conclusion
In conclusion, understanding what a landing page is and its importance in digital marketing can help you leverage this powerful tool effectively. By incorporating key elements like compelling headlines, strong visuals, and clear CTAs, you can create a landing page that not only attracts attention but also drives action. Investing in quality landing page web design can significantly enhance your marketing efforts and improve overall conversion rates. Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #16
April 26-May 3 2024
President Biden announced $3 billion to help replace lead pipes in the drinking water system. Millions of Americans get their drinking water through lead pipes, which are toxic, no level of lead exposure is safe. This problem disproportionately affects people of color and low income communities. This first investment of a planned $15 billion will replace 1.7 million lead pipe lines. The Biden Administration plans to replace all lead pipes in the country by the end of the decade.
President Biden canceled the student debt of 317,000 former students of a fraudulent for-profit college system. The Art Institutes was a for-profit system of dozens of schools offering degrees in video-game design and other arts. After years of legal troubles around misleading students and falsifying data the last AI schools closed abruptly without warning in September last year. This adds to the $29 billion in debt for 1.7 borrowers who wee mislead and defrauded by their schools which the Biden Administration has done, and a total debt relief for 4.6 million borrowers so far under Biden.
President Biden expanded two California national monuments protecting thousands of acres of land. The two national monuments are the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument, which are being expanded by 120,000 acres. The new protections cover lands of cultural and religious importance to a number of California based native communities. This expansion was first proposed by then Senator Kamala Harris in 2018 as part of a wide ranging plan to expand and protect public land in California. This expansion is part of the Administration's goals to protect, conserve, and restore at least 30 percent of U.S. lands and waters by 2030.
The Department of Transportation announced new rules that will require car manufacturers to install automatic braking systems in new cars. Starting in 2029 all new cars will be required to have systems to detect pedestrians and automatically apply the breaks in an emergency. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration projects this new rule will save 360 lives every year and prevent at least 24,000 injuries annually.
The IRS announced plans to ramp up audits on the wealthiest Americans. The IRS plans on increasing its audit rate on taxpayers who make over $10 million a year. After decades of Republicans in Congress cutting IRS funding to protect wealthy tax cheats the Biden Administration passed $80 billion for tougher enforcement on the wealthy. The IRS has been able to collect just in one year $500 Million in undisputed but unpaid back taxes from wealthy households, and shows a rise of $31 billion from audits in the 2023 tax year. The IRS also announced its free direct file pilot program was a smashing success. The program allowed tax payers across 12 states to file directly for free with the IRS over the internet. The IRS announced that 140,000 tax payers were able to use it over their target of 100,000, they estimated it saved $5.6 million in tax prep fees, over 90% of users were happy with the webpage and reported it quicker and easier than companies like H&R Block. the IRS plans to bring direct file nationwide next year.
The Department of Interior announced plans for new off shore wind power. The two new sites, off the coast of Oregon and in the Gulf of Maine, would together generate 18 gigawatts of totally clean energy, enough to power 6 million homes.
The Biden Administration announced new rules to finally allow DACA recipients to be covered by Obamacare. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is an Obama era policy that allows people brought to the United States as children without legal status to remain and to legally work. However for years DACA recipients have not been able to get health coverage through the Obamacare Health Care Marketplace. This rule change will bring health coverage to at least 100,000 uninsured people.
The Department of Health and Human Services finalized rules that require LGBTQ+ and Intersex minors in the foster care system be placed in supportive and affirming homes.
The Senate confirmed Georgia Alexakis to a life time federal judgeship in Illinois. This brings the total number of federal judges appointed by President Biden to 194. For the first time in history the majority of a President's nominees to the federal bench have not been white men.

you didn't actually answer my question , Temple Mount is the most ancient and holiest site for Jewish people -- the Dome of the Rock & Al-Aqsa Mosque were built hundreds of years later on behalf of the Umayyad dynasty's conquest. you mentioned in your response a massacre that happened centuries later, which does not relate to the fact that Jews cannot pray at this site (their utmost holiest site before even the existence of Christians or Muslims). how is "temple denial" something that I made up when you can research it right now and see what it is and that it exists? I ask because this seems to be actually a blind spot for many non-Jewish people simply because it doesn't affect them. I'm not intending to be argumentative and I am sorry if my English is bad in getting across
I'm sorry for being argumentative but a lot of the time, whenever Palestinians are asked about temple mount, there's an implication that Palestinians are colonizers and don't deserve to be on the land. Israelis, if they could, would completely ban Muslims from AlAqsa despite it being the third holiest site in Islam.
AlAqsa is probably the most important national symbol of Palestinians, often thought to be the last straw for Palestinian heritage. So much of our culture has been robbed from us, and (primarily muslims) believe that the demolition of AlAqsa, which is, as Mohammed ElKurd puts it, is one of the last places in all of Palestine where being Palestinian is not criminalized would be a fundamental loss we would never recover from, equivalent to losing our Balad.
I bring up the Ibrahimi Mosque Massacre because there are no restrictions for extremist settlers legally — they operate as an arm of the state and in some cases are encouraged to committ these acts. The "Apartheid Law" basically enshrined that settlements are a national value for Israel. This means that there is no safe haven for Palestinians legally. They're in constant danger of getting kicked out of their home or getting arrested for existing. I cannot emphasize enough how Palestinian freedom is so restricted with the explicit intent of pushing them out of the land.
Temple denial as a concept (after looking it up) seeks to paint Palestinians in a fundamentally bigoted and violent light. Palestinians are not allowing Jews in AlAqsa not because they hate Jews, but because that opens the way for settlers to become violent around AlAqsa, which a lot of the time is already happening. I suggest reading "Why Do Palestinians Burn Jewish Holy Sites? The Fraught History of Joseph's Tomb" (sorry the link is not linking, but you can look it up on the palestine institute webpage). It discusses the use of history as a colonial tool. Here's an excerpt:
It is one of many shrines across historic Palestine – now split into Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza – that has been re-invented as exclusively Jewish, despite a long history of shared worship among Jews, Christians, Muslims, and Samaritans that goes back centuries. And the reason it has been attacked has almost nothing to do with religion, and much to do with how the Israeli military and settlement movements have used religion as a way to expand their control over Palestinian land and holy places.
And a second excerpt describing the political use of religion:
But the claims of biblical archaeologists had a strong role in how the Zionist movement would come to understand and conceive of the landscape.6 As European Jews migrated to Palestine in the first half of the twentieth century, they drew upon biblical archeology's claims. They adopted archeologists' claims that Palestinian holy sites were directly linked to ancient biblical figures. In many cases, they focused on occupying those sites in order to legitimize the colonial endeavor by giving it a sense of deeper history. In many cases, this would mean evicting the Palestinians who actually frequented these holy sites.
And what Palestinians are afraid of:
In 1975, the Israeli military banned Palestinians – that is, the Samaritans, Muslims, and Christians living around the site – from visiting, a ban that has remained in place until this day. [...] Unsurprisingly, the ban has ignited intense anger over the years. This is true particularly given that frequent visits by Jewish settlers to the shrine are accompanied by hundreds of Israeli soldiers, who enter the area and run atop the rooftops of local Palestinians to “secure” the tomb. As a result, Joseph's Tomb has increasingly become associated with the Israeli military and settlement movement in the eyes of Palestinians. Its presence has become an excuse for frequent military incursions that provoke clashes and lead to arrests and many injuries in the neighborhood. Some fear that Israelis will attempt to take over the shrine to build an Israeli settlement around it. This fear is not unfounded, given the fact that Israeli settlers have done exactly that all across the West Bank in places they believe are connected in some way to Jewish biblical history. The notoriously violent Jewish settlements in Hebron, for example, were built there due to the location of the Tomb of the Patriarchs in that southern West Bank town. Following the initial years of settlement, settlers even managed to convince Israeli authorities to physically divide the shrine – which is holy to local Palestinians – and turn the whole area into a heavily-militarized complex. Other shrines have become excuses for the Israeli military to build army bases inside Palestinian towns, like Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem – which is surrounded by twenty-foot high concrete walls on three sides to block Palestinian access. The village of Nabi Samwel near Jerusalem, meanwhile, was demolished in its entirety to provide Jewish settlers access to the tomb at its heart.
I'm not denying the temple mount is there. I'm just saying that history has been manipulated to erase centuries worth of cultural heritage through scholarship and Palestinians are protective of their most important symbol of resistance and life. Even you saying "Islam and Christianity came after Judiasm" is a dogwhistle for me, because a lot of the time extremists say that to completely erase AlAqsa as an important site to Muslims and intending to deny the site as a shared worshipping site that is quite important to Muslims. Just because Islam came after Judiasm, does that mean it's not legitimate as a religion itself? Islamically, Islam is a continuation of Judiasm, so we don't deny judiasm is important to AlQuds. We just are so concerned with losing our national symbol that we're so protective over it.
Now I bring up the massacre at ibrahimi mosque because, like mentioned in the excerpt above, Palestinians are afraid something like that will happen again. There's no protections for Palestinians, and most of the time they're denied from praying in AlAqsa themselves by Israeli authorities. Israeli settlers themselves come in and disrespect AlAqsa, and as I mentioned, extremists plan on demolishing AlAqsa to build a Third Temple. The Massacre at the Mosque paved way to the "Jews Only" streets I mentioned, including the militarization and basically a complete upheaval of normal life for Palestinians. I suggest looking into how terrible the situation in AlKhalil is, and that arised directly from the massacre.
You cannot separate this issue from the colonial implications of the last safe haven in all of Palestine being open to Israelis. Now when Palestine is free, I doubt there would be restrictions. But right now, there are and to pretend Israelis don't pose a threat to Palestinians fundamentally, would be erasure of the colonization of Palestine.
I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but even if AlAqsa was built hundreds of years after, it doesn't change the fact that RIGHT NOW Israelis have privilege that Palestinians do not. As soon as that privilege is no longer there, then we can talk about allowing Jews there. But until then, Palestinians are constantly in danger of settler violence and to take away a space (which, Ibrahimi Mosque was one of those sites before Palestinians were massacred) is frankly, an insult and a denial that Palestinians themselves are colonized.
I suggest looking at the links I provided earlier for more in depth analysis. I'm going to reiterate: the only reason it's illegal is because Palestine is colonized and this is our last safe haven that we even aren't completely allowed from entering ourselves.
Most Palestinians are quite heated about this topic. It genuinely is considered one of our last national symbols (so not just religious but also political and cultural), which means that having that taken away (which extremist settlers plan on demolishing it completely, and if they're allowed in, then there are no restrictions on their behavior) would be tantamount to losing our balad, or nation. I've heard Israelis call AlAqsa terrible names over the years and some fully intend on demolishing the site. Even within Israeli politics, it is a genuine goal for some people, including Ben Gvir, so most believe that opening the door for settlers (who are the ones who want the destruction of AlAqsa) would be equivalent to giving it up. You can't ignore that when talking about AlAqsa and the laws surrounding it. The primary reason for this protectiveness is political and cultural.

Hi there. I'm wondering how you deal with reading parts of the Bible that talk about the Israelites coming to the promised land, defeating the people there etc, in light of... well, I'm sure you get where I'm coming from! I'm scared to look up commentary on it because I fear it will either be from a Zionist perspective, or dismissive of the "old testament" in that antisemitic way a lot of Christians can be. Every time my daily devotions include a Psalm with a line praising God for granting Israel victory in battle or anything like that it makes me so uncomfortable it's hard to pray...
Hey there, anon. Thank you for your courage in wrestling with these questions. I'm going to try to answer this well, but I may mess up, so I welcome correction or expansion, especially from Jewish folks — any antisemitism here is not my intent and I will fix it if pointed out; my sincere gratitude who anyone who chooses to share their time and energy correcting me.
I also have some books that grapple with these issues on my reading list (more on that at the end of this post), so stay tuned for more posts about these issues in the coming weeks once I've read them.
I see several interlocking components to your conflict, anon:
The presence of violence within scripture, carried out by its protagonists, often with express instruction or at least no condemnation from God.
Uncertainty regarding the relationship between the biblical Israel and the modern state of Israel.
The convergence of the first two components, allowing the use of biblical passages that speak of God giving the "promised land" to Israel to justify the modern Israel's occupation of that land.
Let's start with the first component apart from modern issues.
Wrestling with violence in scripture
When we come across violent or otherwise complicated parts of scripture, we should be disturbed. If scripture is inspired by God, does that mean anything a biblical text seems to condone is also condoned by God — up to and including genocide??
No. Even those of us who hold that scripture is inspired can acknowledge that it was written by human authors, living in specific historical and cultural contexts.
(If you've been raised with something closer to a "biblical inerrancy / literal Word of God" mindset about the Bible, it's okay to feel rattled by realizing there are other ways to read the Bible! You might find my webpage about a framework for reading scripture that acknowledges its human authors helpful for easing into such a discussion.)
In her book Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again, Rachel Held Evans has a whole chapter on wrestling with the Bible's war stories, taking their historical and cultural contexts into account and seeking places where God's inspiration breathes through the human accounts.
I can't recommend this book highly enough. I posted a loooong excerpt from this chapter over here, because I find it so important and helpful for unpacking these "texts of terror," as Phyllis Trible called them. That post is my top suggested reading as you wrestle with questions of violence in scripture, but I'll also add a little more here.
One important bit of context regards when many of the Hebrew texts were written: during or soon after exile in Babylon. Here's an incredibly over-simplified timeline:
In the 700s BCE, the Assyrian Empire destroyed the northern kingdom of Israel. That left its sister kingdom, Judah, rattled and grieving, with a lot of existential questions about why God "allowed" such a thing.
Then in the 500s BCE, the Babylonian Empire sweeps into Judah and obliterates the temple in Jerusalem, deports Judah's leaders into exile, and leaves the people even more traumatized, with more questions about where God is in their suffering and why God "let" such horrors happen to them.
As they're asking these questions, they're looking back at their history, looking both for places where God's presence and support are evident, and places things went wrong.
They consider their exodus from Egypt, and their eventual arrival in Canaan — and they re-imagine that arrival as much more violent than historical and archeological evidence suggest it was: instead of a gradual integration with the peoples already living in Canaan, they write about mighty battles where they wipe the previous people out completely.
Even if such violence didn't historically happen, it's still disturbing to read. Why did these authors want to re-imagine their people as having committed ethnic cleansing and even genocide?
Holy Resilisence: The Bible's Traumatic Origins by David Carr explores how trauma impacts these choices in greater detail than I can here, but part of what he suggests is that in depicting themselves as powerful and capable of enacting the kind of violence that was being enacted on them by empires like Assyria and Babylon, they felt a bit more stable in their current situation.
Trauma and grasping for a sense of control in a situation completely out of their control is also why a lot of the biblical authors, particularly prophets, write about God "sending" those empires to "punish" Israel and then Judah for "going astray" of God's instructions. If these empires are attacking and desolating them simply because they're Big and they Can, the people are helpless to do much about it. But if it's because the people lost God's protection, then they can regain that protection if they start acting faithfully again. There's a sense of control there!
There are also parts of scripture where a writer imagines doing some mega violent stuff to their enemies — the book of Nahum being one such place; Psalm 137 is another. When we read about the psalmist imagining dashing the heads of their enemies' infants on rocks, we must remember that this is the daydream of an extremely traumatized person imagining something they don't actually have any power to carry out. We're allowed to bring all our messy emotions to God, even violent fantasies. We don't have to tidy them up first. Imagining it isn't the same as acting it out. An oppressed person thinking about such violence isn't the same as their oppressor actually doing the violence.
Again, this is all vastly oversimplified; David Carr explains in much more detail, drawing more historical context and trauma theory to do so.
Edit: A fantastic and easy-to-read article on reading the "conquest of Canaan" and how it connects to modern-day Israel by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg can be found here!
So that's some info on grappling with violence in the Bible in general. But what about...
Disconnecting biblical Israel from the modern ethno-state
When the name Israel comes up in the Bible, it's reasonable that our brains immediately connect it to the other Israel we know of — the modern settler colonialist state currently occupying Palestine. This connection has been made intentionally by Israeli supporters, both Christian and Jewish.
But it is vital that we disconnect the biblical Israel with that modern state.
I'm extremely grateful for Jewitches' post that explains the distinctions, and the harm that comes from conflating the Israels, in detail. I urge you to read through their whole post (you'll see it's in infographic form, but scroll down and there's an image description of it all); but here's some main points:
First thing to know is that even within scripture, the word Israel can refer to several things: the person Israel, i.e. Jacob; Am Israel, the people group descended from that person — before, during, and after the biblical kingdom of Israel existed; Israel the kingdom; and Eretz Israel, the physical land discussed in the biblical texts.
None of these are Medinat Israel, the modern political state of Israel.
For centuries, all Jews have continued to identify themselves as Am Israel, the people of Israel, even in diaspora.
To conflate Am Israel and Medinat Israel is to erase that diasporic history, to erase the Jewishness of Jews living outside that political state. That denigration and erasure of diaspora Jews is an intentional goal of Medinat Israel, so that diaspora Jews will feel like they need to come to Israel.
Finally, to conflate Medinat Israel with the biblical people or kingdom of Israel does great harm as well.
The harm in conflating biblical Israel and modern Israel
It's not a mistake that people do conflate these things; there's a long history among both Zionist Jews and Zionist Christians in intentionally using passages from scripture to justify modern Israel's occupation of Palestine and violence against Palestinians. We must resist this!
Again, I'm indebted to Jewitches' post detailing these issues; again, I urge you to read their whole post, but will sum up some main points:
Once we conflate biblical and modern Israel, Zionist Christians are able to use verses like Genesis 12:3, “Blessed is everyone who blesses you, O Israel, and cursed is everyone who curses you," to justify support of the state of Israel. Anyone who questions modern Israel is warned that they are supposedly going against God and incurring divine wrath.
But Christian Zionists don't actually give a damn about Jews; they're using them as pawns in their own theological and political agendas. They can support modern Israel in one breath and pass antisemitic legislation or preach antisemitic shit with the next.
Moreover, "Conflating all Jews with Israel allows people (Jewish and non-Jewish) to attempt to revoke Jews of their Jewish identity when their politics do not “fall in line”."
My recommendation for starting to learn more about the history of the Jewish Zionist movement, started in 1800s Europe, is this article by JVP.
My recommendation for Christians who want to learn more about the harms of Christian Zionism is this other post by Jewitches as well as the Christian site christianzionism.org.
Summing Up / Further Reading
So to sum all this up:
When you encounter stories about Israel or mentions of Israel in the Bible, remember these things:
Am Israel, "the people/nation of Israel," is not to be conflated with Medinat Israel, the modern ethnostate. Am Israel in the present day = all Jews! Not just Israelis. Don't let Medinat Israel erase diaspora Jews, their diverse and vibrant expressions of Judaism, their right to connect with their own scripture and culture.
The biblical people and kingdom of Israel were a small group pressed by more powerful nations on all sides. A lot of the biblical authors bring grief and trauma into their writing about Israel. Remembering this can be helpful when grappling with the Bible's war stories.
While the biblical Israel was constantly besieged and at risk of occupation by others, the modern state Israel is the occupier. Their situations are completely different, so that applying biblical verses to modern Israel is both inaccurate and harmful.
___
There are still more questions to consider. I don't have all the answers; I'm sure I never will, but I'm working on gathering more information. I've had some books in my reading list that I plan to get to in the coming weeks / months; if I find any useful stuff in them, I'll share it on this blog.
If anyone is interested in doing their own reading / research, here are the resources I've gathered — please know that my listing them here is not me vouching for their content. It's possible some of them might turn out to be anywhere from a little problematic to total shit lol. We'll see!
Again pointing to ChristianZionism.org for essays and resources on resisting Christian Zionism.
Palestineportal.org has info on joining with pro-Palestinian Christians and getting active as churches, which is great!
That includes links to various denominations' pro-Palestinian organizations; my own denomination's is the IPMN. Apparently this congregational study guide + video of theirs is good.
Palestine Portal also has several lists of book recs! Here's their recs on Zionism, Christian Zionism, and the Bible. And their liberation theology list. The following books are ones from those lists that I've selected to read.
Faith in the Face of Empire: The Bible through Palestinian Eyes by Mitri Maheb
Justice, and Only Justice: A Palestinian Theology of Liberation by Naim Stifan Ateek
Jesus and the Land by Gary Burge, an ex Christian Zionist. He has a statement about why he's not a Zionist any more here.
Chosen? Reading the BIble amidst the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict by Walter Brueggemann
Israel/Palestine and the Queer International by Sarah Schulman
If anyone has other resources on any of these topics that they recommend, please do share! Thank you.

From: http://web.archive.org/web/20020224000007/http://members.tripod.com/mlpflipside/flipside.html
Text from page below the cut:
In every world, there is an anti-world. Every planet has its cosmos, as Heaven has Hell, each world, each galaxy, has its darker matter. There is no purity without poisen, there is no good without the reflections of evil. As with every smile, there are tears. For every act of good, a crime is committed. For every child born, some unfortunate person dies. And this, my friends, is the flipside.
In a world identical to our Earth, a war takes place. Human lives are of no importance anymore. Only one thing seems to matter now. Death.
Defeated, the old wizard fell numbly to the ground, his chest heaving in an attempt to grab at air his lungs could not reach. He turned his eyes to the sky, to the clouds that had rolled overhead, to the threatening storm. His limbs were weak now; his time was drawing to an end, as were the lives of every other creature who had the misfortune to have made their homes in this cruel, evil land. He had tried with all his might, power and heart to overcome the evil, but science and human technology had overcome magic long, long before. Selfish humans had wanted it all....and they all knew that the planet would not be able to sustain a third world war, yet fight they did. The results had been disastrous, yet foreseen. Weakly, the wizard stood to his feet. I have not been able to save the planet, he thought to himself, but I shall try to help it grow again. His eyes were growing heavy. He glanced around at the few animals who were still alive. Many were weak like himself, fighting for life, fighting a death that man had inflicted on them. But, to the old Wizard's astonishment, one creature ran through the haze, head high, mane flowing in the wind. It whinnied, laughing in the face of death. Why! It was a mere horse! One of the fallen warrior's trusty steeds, no doubt!....it had tricked man's machines of death like no other had. As the wizard felt life sipping away,  the image of the pony remained...and he made one final spell. The world would be reborn. It would grow beautiful and strong. But humans will not enter it's realms. They will not hate and destroy as they had done so before. They would be only a myth, a figment of imagination, a flicker in a wise creatures eye, a distant memory of a history that should never have been. The creatures to rule this world would be caring yet strong, loving yet powerful. Equines. Horses and Ponies, Pegasi, Unicorns, creatures of myth alongside those of reality, side by side, together...in peace. The wizard lost his battle with life the second the spell was finalised.
This world shall be known as Equin.
Welcome to a land that is not all it may seem, Welcome to a world in which reality is dream, Welcome to a dreamscape where mysteries unfold, Open your heart and listen to the stories that are told. This place may seem so far away, far in another time, But if you close your eyes, and listen, you'll hear a music that's so fine, It will appear, if you believe it, in the blinking of the eye, Ponyland will be with me until the day I die. ~ Selena Thomas
Warning!! This site isn't your average My Little Pony fansite. Or at least, I sure hope it isn't. I enjoy writing stories and drawing pictures, but have a rather dark nature at times and sometimes what I write may not be everybody's cup of tea. While there is obviously no pornography or anything of that nature here, I view Ponyland, er, I mean "Equin" (all shall be revealed), as a magical and rather gothic place. While they live now in 'peace' and 'harmony', the foundings of Equin were not always so tranquil. My webpage focuses around my version of Ponyland, and the personalities of the ponies within it are all my own ideas. There is very little 'official' fandom here. I found the 'real' Ponyland too....unrealistic.
"Why do you insist on wearing that ghastly thing?" Trojan asked her, his eyes on the thick, coarse rope that knotted crudely around her dainty neck. She turned away, her eyes focused on the ground. "It reminds me." She said, her voice soft as the winter breeze that enveloped them. "Reminds you of what?" Trojan frowned, nuzzling her, feeling her sad emotion. She turned towards him, then. Her eyes burned into his own, eyes that had seen galaxies explode from mere stardust; eyes that had seen the world before time began. Unicorn eyes. Sad eyes. "It reminds me that I managed to escape."

do you have any advice for someone who kinda "failed" to break into tech and is still in the medium-level for learning. i feel like i've spent so much time (years) on this but haven't made much progress. how do i really get into it and stay in it? love your blog btw. i'm tempted to start one of my own but my projects are a mess and ugly 😭
Tumblr media
I'm sorry to hear that you feel like you haven't made much progress in breaking into tech. It's important to remember that everyone's journey is different, and it's never too late to start or improve. But then again, you have spent years learning and you want to into the tech industry.
Tumblr media
The obvious advice would be don't give up. My dad has been studying to get into Cybersecurity since the early 90s and he just got into the industry this year. He never gave up - family to look after and he could study like the other students in his university course because the large majority of them were single 18-22-year-olds who their only responsibility is themselves. Don't give up and don't compare yourself to other people.
You've got to look at what has been holding you back. Health issues, work issues, money? Can't study full-time or even part-time if you need to pay the bills.
Even if you can, are you consistent with your studying? We all know consistency is key. Studying for one week but don't study for 2-3 weeks won't work. I know the type of learner I am - if I don't code or study every day, even just for 30 minutes, then my tendency to procrastinate will increase a lot and it'll all go downhill from there.
Know your strength - build on the skills you are good at. Believe it or not, I know a developer I met in a discord server who only uses HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build websites and webpage themes for clients as a freelancer and he's doing really well. It's because he realised that he's really good at those three basic languages and he worked really hard to excel at them. Expand on what you know best.
On the flip side, you could look at job postings around where you live or nationally in your country and see what skills/languages/technologies they ask for the most for hiring developers. Example: I live in the UK and a couple of months ago when I was actively looking for a new Frontend Dev job, I saw that Vue.js, React.js, and PHP (besides the usual HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) were asked for the most. If I wanted those jobs, I would learn those technologies, create a few projects to showcase my knowledge in them, and start applying. That could be one way to break into the industry.
Another way would be certificated. Bootcamps, online courses, or in-person courses like university or community colleges. Yes, they say that you don't always need a university degree to get into tech but some kind of education you've gone through that is tech-related e.g. Google courses or the Frontend Dev course that Meta is providing (paid). My colleague completed a computer science degree but he then did a bootcamp and he completed and that's how he landed the job where I work. So even graduates are getting further education. If you can't afford the massive fees, Udemy is a great place to get courses. And don't be shy with the Havard CS50 course videos they have on YouTube - free and you get a certificate free as well!
The advice I give might not work if you haven't identified why after all these years you haven't gotten your foot into the tech industry. This is no way intended to be rude, but if another person who had the same amount of time you studied, and they have gotten a tech job in that time, what makes you different? Goes back to what I said about the things that are holding you back. Some of the reasons are inevitable like health but you need to keep making that effort!
If you need help, you need to ask. Find a mentor or support group. Having someone to guide and encourage you can be incredibly helpful. Look for a mentor or join a support group where you can connect with others who are also learning and growing in tech. You can search for them online, some people offer advice for CV/Resume help or real "getting into tech" advice on places like Fiverr or Upwork or just google for some consultants online. They would cost obviously but if you're really struggling, this might help. After completing bootcamps, they tend to help you get your first job etc so they might be worth considering!
The last bit of advice is do you have a portfolio? No no, like a proper one where you feel confident enough to give to family members, friends, and potential employers? No? Either learn to build one (free of charge) or hire someone to build it for you (costs money) A portfolio is a great way to showcase your skills and projects to potential employers. Even if your projects feel messy or ugly, focus on highlighting what you learned and what you accomplished.
Tumblr media
Obviously, I gave hints of advice more towards Frontend Dev because that's what I know more of but you can alter the advice to whatever niche in programming you're into. Remember, breaking into any field takes time and effort. Stay motivated and focused on your goals, and don't be afraid to reach out for help or support when you need it. Good luck!
** I'm not the best at giving advice but I hope this helps 💗

i'm still trying to figure out what kind of deck i want to play for the tcg, any other tips for building one?? :0 one of my main issues recently has either been not getting Any hermits during games (though... i think it's luck of the draw) or not getting the items i need . help ! SKDNJXX
so my suggestions, vaguely, from some amount of card game experience and a somewhat minimal amount of playtesting so far:
start with a vague idea of what you want to build around. is there a specific hermit you want to play? a specific effect card you like best? a type of effect you're going for? start with that!
if for the above strategy, you need to use more than one type, great! you're using more than one type then! if for the above strategy you don't need more than one type, start thinking about if you want to be in one or two types.
you will want ratios of... i'm playing 9 hermits, 18 items, and the rest of my cards are effects, but a LOT of my effect cards are currently draw. but i'd say you want around a third of your deck to be item cards (possibly more if you're in three types or something), somewhere between 9-12 hermits (MAYBE less if you're doing a draw-heavy strategy), and everything else should be effects. this isn't a hard rule or anything though i haven't playtested that much this is like. my guess based on what's working for me.
if you don't know what else to put in a slot in your deck, the answer is either "flint and steel" or "composter", but ESPECIALLY flint and steel. also fishing rod is worth one of your ultra rare slots basically always. note that i'm yugioh poisoned and think draw spells are always good,
PLAYTEST!!! that's the important one. as you playtest, you'll get a sense of stuff like: what does your average opening hand look like? what do you draw more than you need of? what do you draw less than you need of? sitting down and doing probability math can do one thing, but playtesting is the big thing!
my ratios are very based in "i have played a lot of magic lately and played yugioh for years, although i'm behind on yugioh and also yugioh doesn't have energy or lands so that aspect of deckbuilding is lost on me". they may be wrong. however, if you have any experience in other tcgs, you can bring your deckbuilding over!
remember that, outside of your URs that you only get three total of, playing three of a card normally means you want to draw it always, two of a card means you want to draw it sometimes, and one of a card means you want to draw it occasionally. this is a thing you adjust based on playtesting tbh.
just have fun! also they recently put a discord on the webpage so you can probably ask people who are gonna shop this WAY harder than i will about that. don't take me as gospel I'M NOT THAT GOOD AT DECKBUILDING EITHER I DON'T PLAY THE POKEMON TCG WHICH IS ALMOST CERTAINLY THE MOST RELEVANT ONE,,,,

Hatshepsut and the Temple of Luxor
Greetings from the fabulous boat traveling up the Nile.
The actual date is Sept 26 - but sadly I’m still writing about September 22.  After we visited the Valley of the Kings we drove around the valley to another valley to find the back door entrance to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut - Egypt’s first know female monarch.  She ruled for 20 years in the 15th BCE and is considered one of Egypts’ most successful pharaohs.   Now Hatshepsut (pronounced "Hat- cheep- suit" - not how I had learned earlier “hot shit soup”) did NOT want to be buried in the Valley of the Queens - but in the Valley of the Kings.
Tumblr media
Her tomb connected the building below with an entrance in the Valley of the Kings.  Think about that for a minute.  The engineers connected a tomb through the mountains.  She secured her legacy by building structures that still stand today. She added two hundred-foot-tall obelisks at the great temple complex at Karnak. (One is still intact and we saw in on that very, very hot day exploring Karnak) She  also built the mortuary Temple of Deir el Bahri, a structure with several floors of columns in front, where she’d eventually be buried.  Here is what we saw:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Considered one of Egypt's greatest pharaohs—man or woman—Hatshepsut brought great wealth and artistry to her land. She sponsored one of Egypt's most successful trading expeditions, bringing back gold, ebony, and incense from a place called Punt (probably modern-day Eritrea, a country in Africa).
Tumblr media
Available for your viewing in the NY Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Hatshepsut was usually carved or drawn as a man, complete with muscles and a beard, as was the artistic tradition for pharaohs. But historians knew the truth: She always made sure the art included a reference to being a woman, such as “Daughter of Re” or “His Majesty, Herself.” When she died in 1458 B.C., Egypt would not see as powerful a female ruler for another 1,400 years, when Cleopatra came to the throne.
After we saw Hatshepsut’s impressive tomb we headed back to our hotel for some R&R.  But that evening, we were at it again and this time exploring the Temple of Luxor.
AGAIN - WOWZA!!!
From the official webpage:
Luxor Temple, Ipet-resyt  “Southern Sanctuary” to the ancient Egyptians, was so called because of its location within ancient Thebes (modern Luxor). It is located around three kilometers to the south of Karnak Temple, to which it was once linked with a processional way bordered with sphinxes. The oldest evidence for this temple dates to the Eighteenth Dynasty (c.1550–1295 BC).
Ipet-resyt, unlike most other ancient Egyptian temples, is not laid out on an east-west axis, but is oriented towards Karnak. This is because Luxor Temple was the main venue for one the most important of ancient Egyptian religious celebrations, when the cult images of Amun, his wife Mut, and their son, the lunar god Khonsu, were taken from their temples in Karnak, and transported in a grand procession to Luxor Temple so they could visit the god that resides there, Amenemopet. This was the Opet Festival.
Luxor Temple was not built by one single ruler. The oldest existing structure, a shrine, dates to the reign of Hatshepsut (c.1473–1458 BC). The core of the temple was built by Amenhotep III (c.1390–1352 BC). One of the inner rooms contains a series of scenes that are known as the Divine Birth. They tell the amazing story of how the king’s true father was none other than the god Amun-Ra himself, disguised as Thutmose IV (c.1400–1390 BC). The core of the temple is preceded by a columned hall fronted by a courtyard with columns around its perimeter. Amenhotep III also built the Great Colonnade, which consists of two rows of seven colossal columns. Its decoration, most notably the scenes depicting the Opet Festival, were completed by Tutankhamun (c.1336–1327 BC) and Horemheb (c.1323–1295 BC).
Ramesses II (c.1279–1213 BC) made many additions to Luxor Temple. In front of the Great Colonnade, he built a peristyle courtyard and a massive pylon, a gate with two towers that formed the entrance into temples. In addition to many colossal statues, the pylon was also fronted by a pair of 25-meter-high obelisks made by this great king, but only one remains in place; the other has been at the Place de la Concorde in Paris since 1836.
In the late third century AD, the Romans built a fort around the temple, and the first room beyond the hypostyle hall of Amenhotep III became its sanctuary. The original wall reliefs were covered with plaster, and painted in the Graeco-Roman artistic style, depicting Emperor Diocletian (284–305 AD) and his three coregents. Although these  had largely disappeared, efforts are under way to restore these reliefs to their former glory.
This magnificent city was covered deep in mud until the 1860s.    Take a look at these photos:

Here is the one I took:
Likewise the 1.7 mile road that connected this temple to Karnak, Avenue of the Spinxes was also buried.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first trace of the avenue (at Luxor) was found in 1949 when an Egyptian archaeologist discovered eight statues near the Luxor Temple with 17 more statues uncovered from 1958 to 1961 and 55 unearthed from 1961 to 1964 all within a perimeter of 250 meters. From 1984 to 2000, the entire route of the walkway was finally determined, leaving it to excavators to uncover the road. The original 1,057 statues are along the way, and they are divided into three shapes;
The first shape is a lion's body with a ram's head erected on an area of approximately 1,000 feet between the Karnak temple and the Precinct of Mut during the reign of the ruler of the New Kingdom Tutankhamun.
The second shape is a full ram statue, built in a remote area during the eighteenth dynasty of Amenhotep III, before being transferred later to the Karnak complex.
The third shape which includes the largest part of the statues is a statue of the Sphinx (body of a lion and head of a human), the statues extend over a mile to Luxor Temple.
Here are those shapes:

Cool huh?  While I was researching Temple of Luxor, I discovered a 3 minute video by Rick Steves about Karnak.  It is truly worth your time.
youtube
I LOVED this temple!  It was evening, temps in the high 80s and we had complete shade - and MAYBE that had something to do with it - but it was just so fabulous.  This temple - like all religious sites of significance - was built upon.  There exists a working Mosque and a former church with the ground of the temple.  Check out the Mosque to fully understand just how deeply this temple was buried.  There was no basement here friends.
Tumblr media
Here is what is left of the church.
Tumblr media
Some of the best statues were found there - I thought…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above is an indication of the Pharoah’s power.  Captives from many regions.
And while we were there a Scarab Beetle landed on our friend, Keith’ shirt.  A CERTAIN sign of good luck.
Tumblr media
It was a great visit…
Tumblr media
Here is a 3 minute video  - no words - but it gives you a great look at what we saw.  Enjoy.
youtube
Tomorrow - we start the day with a hot air balloon ride and then drive to our boat.  WHAT A TRIP!!!

Duffey Lake, BC
Established as a provincial park in 1993, this park is centered around the picturesque Duffey Lake and overshadowed by Mt. Rohr.
It is a popular spot for canoeing, kayaking and wildlife viewing. Use caution, as the wind can be strong at times while on the lake. The park offers a rough gravel boat launch.
Located along Duffey Lake Road (Highway 99) about 35km east of Pemberton, nearly midway to Lillooet. It is about a three hour drive from Vancouver. The Duffey Lake Road is a scenic highway that forms part of an automobile tour route called the Coast Mountain Circle Tour.
The Duffey Lake and Cayoosh Creek Valley area was historically used as a travel route between the Lillooet First Nations on Lillooet Lake and the Stl’alt’imx First Nation on the Fraser River. The area was important for hunting, trapping and gathering.
The main conservation role of Duffey Lake Park is to protect a representative portion of the Leeward Pacific Ranges ecosection and to protect important wildlife habitats, particularly for goats and bears. The Duffey Lake area contains some of the flora, fauna, landforms and waters which are characteristic of the region, and illustrates transitional vegetation between coastal and interior climates.
Mountain goat, grizzly bear, deer, black bear, osprey and great blue heron can all be found in the park.
BC Parks honours Indigenous Peoples’ connection to the land and respects the importance of their diverse teachings, traditions, and practices within these territories. This park webpage may not adequately represent the full history of this park and the connection of Indigenous Peoples to this land. We are working in partnership with Indigenous Peoples to update our websites so that they better reflect the history and cultures of these special places.

The Art of Above-the-Fold: Capturing Users in 5 Seconds
In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, first impressions are everything. The “above-the-fold” section — the visible area of a webpage before users scroll — is the prime real estate that determines if users stay or leave within the first five seconds. A well-crafted above-the-fold design captures attention, builds interest, and encourages engagement, making it a crucial aspect of UI/UX design. Here’s a guide on mastering above-the-fold content to hook users instantly and keep them exploring your website.
1. Focus on Clear, Compelling Headlines
A headline is often the first element that users notice when they land on a page. It should clearly communicate your brand’s unique value and set the stage for what the user can expect.
Be Direct and Concise: In above-the-fold design, clarity trumps cleverness. Choose words that convey value or solve a user’s problem instantly. For example, “Revolutionize Your Workflow” is clear and speaks to the benefits of using a product or service.
Use Action-Oriented Language: Strong, actionable language encourages users to dive deeper. Phrases like “Discover How,” “Transform,” or “Get Started” create momentum, nudging users toward the next step.
2. Use Visual Hierarchy to Guide the Eye
With only a few seconds to engage users, a well-planned visual hierarchy ensures the key elements stand out, guiding the viewer’s eye through the essential information.
Prioritize Key Elements: Place your most crucial content, like the headline, call-to-action (CTA), or unique selling proposition, at the top and in larger fonts. Supporting visuals should complement rather than overwhelm the main text.
Use White Space Strategically: White space draws attention to important content by reducing clutter. It gives the user’s eye room to breathe and helps focus attention on the headline or CTA, allowing for a more impactful and digestible design.
3. Choose High-Quality Visuals That Speak to Your Brand
An image is worth a thousand words, especially in the above-the-fold area. The right visuals can instantly communicate your brand’s message and resonate with your target audience.
Use Authentic Imagery: Avoid generic stock photos and opt for images that reflect your brand’s personality and values. A high-quality, authentic image can help create an emotional connection with the user, increasing the likelihood of engagement.
Consider Animation or Video Carefully: When used appropriately, short animations or looping videos can add depth and interest to the above-the-fold content. However, keep it subtle and relevant, as overly flashy animations can distract from the main message and slow down loading times.
4. Craft a Clear and Enticing Call-to-Action (CTA)
A clear CTA in the above-the-fold area provides users with an immediate option to engage further. Whether it’s signing up, exploring products, or learning more, the CTA should be straightforward and visually prominent.
Use Action Words: Phrasing like “Get Started,” “Join Us,” or “Learn More” makes the CTA compelling and direct. The button text should leave no ambiguity, encouraging users to click with confidence.
Ensure Visibility: Make sure your CTA stands out through contrasting colors or a unique button design. Avoid overloading the above-the-fold area with multiple CTAs, as too many options can overwhelm users and reduce engagement.
5. Optimize for Mobile Responsiveness
Above-the-fold design must look great across all devices, especially mobile. Since mobile users make up a significant portion of web traffic, responsive design is essential for capturing attention in those crucial first seconds.
Use a Mobile-Friendly Layout: Arrange content to fit smaller screens seamlessly. The mobile version of your above-the-fold area should have the same impact without overwhelming users with too much information.
Ensure Touch Accessibility: The CTA should be easily tappable, with enough space around it to avoid accidental taps. Large, clear buttons and an easily readable headline can create a frictionless experience for mobile users.
6. Prioritize Fast Load Times
Load times are critical, especially for above-the-fold content. Even a one-second delay can reduce conversion rates significantly, so it’s essential to optimize for speed.
Compress Images and Media Files: High-resolution visuals should be optimized to load quickly without sacrificing quality. Tools like image compression plugins and lazy loading can improve load times.
Minimize Scripts and Animations: Avoid heavy scripts or complex animations that could delay loading. Streamlined, simple designs often outperform intricate ones in user engagement and retention, especially on mobile.
7. Leverage Social Proof to Build Trust
Building credibility within the first few seconds can boost user confidence, making them more likely to stay and explore. Incorporating social proof, like testimonials or user ratings, in the above-the-fold area can make a powerful impact.
Include Short Testimonials or Client Logos: Brief testimonials or recognizable client logos in the above-the-fold area can provide instant validation of your product or service’s quality.
Showcase Reviews or Ratings: If applicable, include a brief mention of your ratings or user reviews (e.g., “Trusted by over 10,000 users” or “4.8/5 rating”). This reinforces trust without distracting from the core message.
8. Integrate an Emotional Connection
An emotionally compelling headline or visual can make a difference in capturing attention. Design the above-the-fold section to resonate with the user’s pain points, needs, or aspirations.
Understand Your Audience’s Pain Points: A headline or supporting visual that speaks to the user’s specific needs can immediately establish relevance and intrigue.
Use Storytelling Elements: People connect with stories, even in a single image or headline. Incorporate hints of a story that speaks to transformation or success, such as before-and-after visuals or phrases that suggest growth or achievement.
9. Conduct A/B Testing for Continuous Improvement
Testing your above-the-fold design helps you understand what resonates best with your audience. Through A/B testing, you can refine headlines, CTAs, visuals, and layouts to maximize engagement.
Experiment with Headlines and CTAs: Try different headline versions and CTA placements to see which generates the most clicks. Small adjustments can sometimes yield significant results.
Analyze User Behavior: Use heat maps, click tracking, and user feedback to understand where attention is concentrated. Insights from these tools can guide subtle adjustments to improve user experience further.
10. Keep Iterating for Modern Trends and Needs
Above-the-fold design trends evolve with changes in technology and user behavior. To maintain an engaging experience, stay updated with emerging trends and continue refining your approach.
Adopt Minimalistic Approaches: Over time, minimalist above-the-fold designs have gained popularity for their simplicity and clarity. If your audience appreciates straightforward, streamlined designs, consider experimenting with minimalism.
Consider Personalization: For returning visitors, personalized content in the above-the-fold area can boost engagement by addressing their preferences or past interactions.
Conclusion
Capturing users in the first five seconds is an art that combines psychology, aesthetics, and usability. A well-designed above-the-fold area communicates value, builds trust, and encourages exploration without overwhelming users. By focusing on clarity, responsive design, and user-centered visuals, you can create a memorable above-the-fold experience that drives engagement, builds trust, and lays the foundation for higher conversions. When every second counts, making the most of above-the-fold design can be the difference between a fleeting visit and a loyal customer.

5 Top Tips to Reduce Bounce Rates
Bounce rate refers to the percentage of visitors who land on a webpage and leave without taking any further action, such as clicking on another page or interacting with the content.
It’s a metric used in web analytics to measure user engagement and the effectiveness of your website in retaining visitors.
A high bounce rate indicates that users are not finding what they are looking for, or that the website isn’t engaging enough to encourage them to explore further.
For instance, if you have a bounce rate of 60%, it means that 60% of the people who visit your site leave after viewing just one page, without taking any additional steps.
This can be particularly concerning for websites that rely on multiple page views, such as blogs, ecommerce websites, or content-driven platforms. High bounce rates can lead to lower conversions, fewer leads, and ultimately less revenue.
Tumblr media
Top Tips to Reduce Bounce Rates
While a certain level of bounce rate is inevitable (especially for single-page websites or landing pages), most website owners aim to reduce bounce rates to improve engagement and conversions. In this article, we’ll explore five top tips to reduce bounce rates and create a more engaging experience for your visitors.
1. Improve Page Load Time
Tumblr media
One of the biggest reasons for high bounce rates is slow-loading pages. In today’s fast-paced digital world, users expect websites to load almost instantly. If your page takes more than a few seconds to load, visitors are likely to leave and look elsewhere. Improving your website’s speed is crucial for retaining users and lowering bounce rates.
Some effective ways to improve page load time include:
Optimising images by compressing them
Using a Content Delivery Network (CDN)
Enabling browser caching
Minimising HTTP requests
Using lightweight themes and plugins
Tools like Google PageSpeed Insights can help you identify issues that are slowing down your site and provide suggestions for improvement.
2. Optimise for Mobile Devices
Tumblr media
With the increasing number of users accessing websites via mobile devices, it’s crucial to ensure that your website is mobile-friendly. A site that doesn’t display well or function properly on smartphones and tablets can lead to a high bounce rate, as mobile users will quickly abandon the site if they struggle to navigate it.
To optimise your website for mobile:
Choose a responsive WordPress website theme that automatically adjusts to different screen sizes
Ensure that buttons and links are easily clickable on small screens
Test your site on various mobile devices to ensure it looks and performs well
Bing also offers a Mobile-Friendly Test tool that allows you to check how your site performs on mobile devices.
3. Enhance User Experience and Navigation
A well-organised, easy-to-navigate website encourages users to explore more pages. If visitors struggle to find the information they need or face a cluttered design, they are likely to leave. Focusing on clear, intuitive navigation can significantly lower your bounce rate.
Here are some tips to improve navigation:
Use a clear and logical menu structure
Include internal links to guide users to other relevant pages
Avoid overwhelming visitors with too many options or distracting elements
Ensure that important information is easy to find, such as contact details or product information
An improved user experience makes it easier for visitors to stay engaged with your content, reducing the likelihood of them bouncing.
4. Create Compelling Content
Tumblr media
Content is the heart of any website. If the content on your site doesn’t match visitors’ expectations or isn’t engaging, they will leave. Creating compelling, valuable content that speaks to your audience’s needs can keep them on your site longer.

What Are Social Site Ads?
Social site ads are advertisements placed on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and others. These ads are designed to engage users with relevant content, drive traffic, increase brand awareness, and achieve conversions such as sign-ups, downloads, or purchases.
When selecting the right format, it is essential to consider factors such as user behavior, platform capabilities, and your campaign's goals. The right ad format can determine whether users scroll past your content or take meaningful action.
The Role of Ad Networks in Social Site Ads

They connect brands with relevant ad spaces across a variety of social platforms, ensuring that your social site ads reach the right audience. Popular ad networks, such as Facebook Audience Network and Google Ads, allow you to manage your campaigns, optimize targeting, and choose the right ad formats.
Social advertising through ad networks enables advertisers to deploy a range of formats, such as native ads, banner ads, video ads, and others, across different platforms to achieve maximum visibility and engagement.

Paid Ads vs. Organic Traffic – Which is Better for You?
“The best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing.” – Tom Fishburne
Today, digital marketing is constantly evolving and every company is vying for a chance to grab the coveted ‘numero uno’ ranking in Google. For this, companies often look for ways to improve their search visibility and drive more traffic to their website.
Two leading methods that drive traffic to a site include Google paid search and organic traffic. Each has its share of advantages and drawbacks.
But which approach is better for your business?
Let us discuss the basics of both these strategies and how they can be used to shape the success of your digital campaigns.
Understanding Paid Ads and Organic Traffic
What are Paid Ads?
Paid ads, or paid search or paid advertising, are a form of digital marketing where businesses pay to display their ads on search engine results pages (SERPs) or other platforms. Google paid ads, for example, appear at the top of search results with a small “Ad” label.
Paid search marketing, or pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, is like putting up a billboard on the internet highway. Here’s how it works:
You create an ad for your business.
You choose specific words or phrases (keywords) that relate to your ad.
When someone searches for those keywords, your ad pops up.
If they click on your ad, you pay a small fee. Hence the term ‘pay-per-click’
Google Ads is the big player in this game. Google paid search works like an auction where businesses bid to have their ads shown. But it’s not just about who bids the highest.
Google also looks at:
How relevant your ad is to what people are searching for?
How often people click on your ad (click-through rate)?
How good the webpage is that your ad leads to (landing page quality)?
What is Organic Traffic?
Organic traffic, on the other hand, refers to visitors who land on your website through unpaid search results. This type of traffic is generated through search engine optimization (SEO) efforts, which aim to improve your website’s visibility in organic search results. Organic search is all about making your website naturally appealing to search engines like Google.
Here’s how organic search usually works:
You create great content on your website.
You ensure your website is easy to use and works well on mobile devices.
You build relationships with other websites to get them to link back to you.
Over time, search engines start to see your website as valuable and show it higher in search results.
Google’s algorithm for organic search is like a picky food critic. It considers many factors to decide which websites to show first, including:
The quality and relevance of your content.
How other websites link to you (backlinks).
How easy your website is to use?
How well your website works on smartphones and tablets?
Both paid search and organic traffic are important for a well-rounded online marketing strategy. Paid ads can give you quick visibility, while organic search builds long-term credibility.
Benefits of Paid Ads
1. Immediate Results
One of the most significant advantages of paid search marketing is the speed at which you can see results. As soon as your campaign goes live, your ads will start appearing in front of potential customers.
2. Targeted Reach
Google paid search allows you to target specific keywords, demographics, and locations, ensuring your ads reach the right audience at the right time.
3. Measurable Performance
Paid advertising platforms provide detailed analytics, allowing you to track your campaign’s performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize your ROI.
 Benefits of Organic Traffic
1. Long-term Sustainability
While it takes time to build, organic search traffic can provide a steady stream of visitors to your website over the long term.
2. Cost-effectiveness
Once you’ve established strong SEO organic results, you will continue to attract traffic without ongoing ad spend.
3. Increased Credibility
Users often trust organic search results more than paid ads, which can lead to higher click-through rates and conversions.
Which Approach is Right for You?
The choice between paid ads and organic traffic isn’t always an either/or decision. Many successful businesses use a combination of both strategies to maximize their online presence.
Consider Paid Ads If:
You need immediate results.
You’re launching a new product or service.
You want to target specific demographics or locations.
You have the budget for ongoing ad spend.
Focus on Organic Traffic If:
You’re looking for long-term, sustainable growth.
You want to establish your brand as an industry authority.
You have a limited budget for advertising.
You’re willing to invest time in content creation and SEO.
Should businesses focus on organic search, paid search, or both?
Most businesses benefit from integrating both organic and paid search into their digital marketing strategies. For example, if you’re looking to promote a new service, paid search can quickly generate visibility and attract immediate interest. Meanwhile, organic search is ideal for boosting visibility for an existing product with steady but lower demand. Choosing between paid search and organic search depends on a business’s specific goals and budget. Paid search offers quick results and precise targeting, making it ideal for businesses with time-sensitive promotions or a larger budget. In contrast, organic search is a cost-effective, long-term strategy that helps improve visibility over time.
To determine which channel to use, start by defining your specific goals. Once you have a clear objective, choose the search method that aligns best with your goals. For example, a campaign to introduce a new service might include both a paid ad for instant visibility and an optimized service page to build long-term organic traffic.
However, as a digital marketer, you should also understand this:
A balanced digital marketing approach often combines both paid and organic search tactics.  Organic search allows you to leverage the power of content marketing effectively. While content marketing supports paid search efforts by providing a destination for users who click on ads, its real strength lies in enhancing search engine optimization (SEO). Content created for SEO is often informational and educational, which resonates well with users.
Research shows that 70% of users prefer learning about companies through articles rather than ads. Additionally, 61% of users express a stronger preference for businesses that produce original content.
By focusing on organic search with a strong SEO strategy, your business can enjoy several advantages. You can expand your visibility in search results, create valuable content for your audience, and drive future actions like purchases, store visits, and quote requests.
Our Two Cents
In summary, a successful digital marketing strategy integrates both paid and organic search tactics while focusing on user experience and staying informed of industry trends. This approach helps businesses reach their target audience effectively, achieve higher returns on investment, and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
