I know the title looks not great on me but hear me out.

I (21M he/they) grew up on this really seedy pirate ship with a really... eccentric... captain (???M) and there was this other dude who made friends with the prisoner! I mean can you believe it? Anyway lets call this guy W (now 28M he/him/them) who was 14 when we last saw each other.

So W annoys the captain (let's call him EM) a lot and normally when someone annoys EM it's my job to get rid of them (read: kill) but this time EM let W go!! Ok so he might have left him bloody and bruised on some random island but still!

Anyway, flash forward 14 years and now I am moving into this Faction Isles with a bunch of pirates and I join the one about money or something, not important. But guess who I see alive and well?! IT'S W!!

W is running around holding hands and picking flowers with this faction all about family (ironic when he abandoned our ship!!! And his father!!)

Anyway a while later W comes up to me and says they need my help! Apparently EM's ship has been nearby recently! And W wants to explore.

Long story short (I'm a busy man after all), W started asking too many nosy questions and sticking their nose in business that wasn't his to know. There happened to be these cultists on the island W had docked on that had turned W's own faction leader to stone (skill issue in my opinion) and what was a man to do? I shoved W into them and he died (L + ratio) but what was I meant to do???

Now I am very scared that his happy go lucky faction is going to do to me what I did to EM's enemies all those years ago but W was sticky beaking!

So AITA for betraying his trust in order to save my skin and EM's honour?
