Cinematic Trailer (WoW Edition)
My personal opinion on WoW cinematics that I saw when I was younger was the Illidari cinematic, I like that, so I really liked Legion and The Burning Crusade Expansion pack, so with all those deamons and stuff I started getting in all that fel and stull like that, I was ok with Lich King thos but Illidan seemed stronger because I read that book where Illidan and Arthas was fighting so Arthas won…

yaknow i forget things a lot and it annoys me.
i make these lists of things to keep track of what i like because i genuinely forget the things that i like quite often.
like i have this list of characters that i like and a kind of title that i gave them that relates to why i like them and just the other day i came across some other characters that i have liked for a long time and that should probably be on the list but i opted not to and to think about it for a bit and now i cant remember who they were or what theyre from. rah.
FOUND IT! searched my youtube history. arthas/the lich king, and zeratul. yeah, i have a type.
i havent even played warcraft or starcraft all the way through, so i dont know if i can really claim them. zeratul especially, ive barely looked into him -- at least arthas i have watched a playthrough, lore videos, and technically experienced a condensed version of his story through the hearthstone solo adventures. if i got to choose a replica weapon to own irl, it would 100% be frostmourne. hes just so cool. zeratul its just because of the fight vs artanis, that final "my life for aiur" is fucking badass. en taro zeratul.
realistically illidan should also be on the list, i also know a lot of his lore and hes sick as hell too. a lot of warcraft characters are fantastic. rexxar, green jesus, jaina, hell even freaking twinkboy anduin. not to mention sylvanus and the hellscreams. the problem, of course, is blizzard. its the same as wizards. love the characters, hate the company.
anyways. i should probably write things down more, so this happens less. or not. theres benefits to forgetting. idk.

Warcraft III: Reforged
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (and its sequel, The Frozen Throne) is a beloved real-time strategy game and a precursor to the MMORPG World of Warcraft. It also has an active and thriving community, both for its multiplayer mode and its modding scene (which gave rise to the popular MOBA genre via Defense of the Ancients, which sees its legacy in DOTA 2). This is impressive, since the game was originally released in 2002--18 years ago!
It also has the honour of being one of my favourite PC games from my childhood. I used to sink a ton of time into playing the campaign and against the AI, often cheating my way through scenarios with the game’s cheat codes (WhoIsJohnGalt and ISeeDeadPeople are still stuck in my mind, to this day). I thought it was a lot more unique and charming than a lot of other RTS games (although I used to play those too), and it had a wicked sense of humour that was often revealed through secrets you’d usually only find if you were looking really, really hard, or if you cheated and displayed the entire map and had a good look around. So, when they announced the remaster at Blizzcon 2018, I dropped money on that like a hot potato!
You’ve probably heard something about Reforged in the past few weeks since its already delayed release, ranging from accusations of false advertisement, copyright issues that threaten to kill the thriving mod community (presumably so they can’t have another DOTA 2 situation), and the removal of hugely important elements of the multiplayer game that have, so far, seen no signs of return. Blizzard have famously changed their refund policy for the game, simply because of the high level of dissatisfaction.
On the other hand, I’ve really enjoyed revisiting the game! The units look and feel great, and I’m glad that they’ve managed to retroactively reconcile elements of The Frozen Throne with Reign of Chaos (Sylvanas’ unique hero model features in both the base game and expansion now, whereas it was previously the latter). But there is a charm that’s lacking, both in terms of simple polygonal figures and the humour that was prevalent in the original. Having said that, I did play (most) of the game without the cheats this time, so it’s possible that I’m overlooking a lot of the hidden jokes and easter eggs that the game has.
Reign of Chaos continues to be a great game, particularly in regards to its story, which unfolds across the four campaigns (five, if you include the introductory prologue, restored to its full five chapters). Human civilisation crumbles in the lands to the east, its destruction helmed by the very prince meant to save it, seduced by the power of the undead. What remains of humanity flees to Kalimdor, in the west, on the trail of the orcs; together, both races must overcome their differences to join forces with the night elves and prevent the Burning Legion, the demon masters of the undead, from enslaving their world.
The Frozen Throne brings some useful tweaks to gameplay, but its campaign is a little less satisfying. Its missions are more unique, which is a welcome change from the (often repetitive) establish a base, build your army, destroy the enemy missions that dominated the base game. But each campaign feels like it contains the ‘best of’ chapters from two or three unused campaigns that were edited into what we get, and the narrative of Arthas vs. Illidan feels overwhelming in a way that stifles the unique identities of each campaign race. In fact, the undead campaign suffers the most, being split between Arthas’ return to Northrend and Sylvanas’ liberation of herself and her fellow undead in Lordaeron, which feel like two distinctly different narratives. It’s especially telling that chapter seven of this campaign is split into three parts.
That’s not to say that Reforged isn’t fun, because it is, if you’re interested in revisiting the single player campaign. But Reforged is lacking in something that the original had to it, whether that’s missing features or a notable absence of charm. I’m happy to have bought the game for that revisit of nostalgia (and I hope that they return the custom campaigns, because I’d love to dive into those now that I can), but there’s still a lot more polish needed than just remastered character models.
Fin or Bin: Well, I finished it. I have the bonus campaign to play, and I SUPPOSE I ought to try and replay everything on the actual hard setting now that I’m a capable adult who can play video games, but I’ve done everything I really wanted to with it.

spoilery spoiler wow stuff under the cut
I HATE THAT TYRANDE CONTINUES TO BE COMPLETELY ERASED FROM THE STORY WTF WHERE IS SHE WHY ISN’T SHE A PART OF WORLD OF WARCRAFT ANYMORE IDC Y’ALL DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO MAKE HER WORK WITH THE HORDE @BLIZZARD WHY WAS SHE DELETED FROM THE GAME
at least? saurfang? died? I guess
nathanos and sylvanas are a thing confirmed apparently nice tbh
I still think sylvanas will end up revealing her plan was to defeat the old gods/n’zoth. she had a bargain with azshara she says (and I’m a firm believer azshara had no intention to serve him forever so? maybe that was how they struck a bargain?) and n’zoth will serve death too so I don’t think she’ll really be the big bad they’re making her out to be, at least not the way they’re making it seem like now
this is not spoilers but lor’themar and thalyssra standing side by side always is cute I like it
judge me but I’m 100% hype if they go through with the no factions thing tbh. I really like it
the one video I saw with the ingame cinematic for the end of the horde war campaign ended up with dude delivering a quest in orgrimmar and alleria and vereesa were standing there and I have so many feelings asidfnjkadnsf
it is bullshit that lor’themar refers to his friendship with sylvanas NOW before going to work with the alliance to kill her lol ‘old friend’ my ass tbh
saurfang saying the horde has always sucked was the most legit saurfang moment ever
but how is arthas comparable to orgrim doomhammer in terms of horde vs alliance? it’s not
WHY DOESN’T TYRANDE EXIST
I’m kinda :c about what they’re doing with sylvanas but I think she isn’t garrosh 2.0 as everyone’s been saying I think she’s illidan 2.0 in the sense that she’s doing a lot of inexcusable shit with an actual important goal in mind and also that she’ll die naksjdfnaksjdfn
tYRANDE
idk I still have too many feelings that need to be processed before I’m coherent and say everything I had to say

If Blizz turned the rise of the Lich King into an opera, I can just picture the Culling of Stratholme. The dramatic moment as Jaina sings to Arthas in Latin that she can watch him do it, the first confrontation between Mal'ganis and Arthas, then the last part when he screams, "TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!". Then you have the Illidan vs Arthas battle and finally Arthas ascending to the top of Icecrown as the choir sings Invincible. Why must the amazing ideas I think of be just that, ideas :(
