Alright, after running this blog for over a year I've decided to make an actual pinned post—complete with a guide to my tagging system.

First off, who am I?

I am the sole moderator of dinosquad-central, obviously. You may call me Dino Mod, and I use any pronouns, including neopronouns that do not begin with x or z.

My Favorite characters are Caruso and Buzz. I don't actually know that much about dinosaurs in general; I just think they're neat. I'm the event coordinator on the Dino Squad discord server. And I love getting asks! (Although sometimes it takes me a day or two to answer them)

I tag posts with #dino mod to indicate that they are either original posts from me, or things I've reblogged wherein I added something to the body of the post, rather than just the tags. So if you want to browse my thoughts on the show, that's the tag to do it.

Now that you know who I am, what's Dino Squad and where can you watch it?

Dino Squad is a 2007 cartoon about five teenagers who can turn into dinosaurs, and you can watch it for free on YouTube. The first episode is called "The Beginning", but the series is episodic, so the order you watch doesn't really matter after that. If you want to watch in in order, there's an episode list on IMDB.

Yeah, a couple of things, actually. But this is already getting long, so I'll continue under the readmore.

Firstly, I need to give credit where credit is due, and make sure y'all know that the person who made the banner I use for this blog, which is also the quintessential "there's like five of us" dinosquad fandom meme, is @scoutbot. Everyone say "thank you, scoutbot!"

My profile pic, on the other hand, is lifted from official Dino Squad promotional material, but if anyone wants to draw me a new one, I'd be willing to trade you a fic for it—DM me if interested.

Secondly, there's one type of tag I don’t list in the tag guide, and that's the type I use to fawn all over everybody's Dino Squad posts. In such a small fandom, every time someone makes something new for it, they do so knowing it won't get much engagement, so I want to make sure they get at least one person who with enthusiastically give a kind, thoughtful, personalized comment on their post. Creating for a small fandom can feel thankless, but I want to mitigate that as much as possible by saying thank you thank you thank you for hanging out with us and participating in our fandom.

I'll mention it a few times in this post, but as long as you tag a post with #dino squad (as one word or two) I am basically guaranteed to see it, and I'll reblog almost anything in this fandom. So if you want more of the stuff you like, I strongly encourage you to create it! I love to see new takes and new faces in this fandom, and I will always lift you up.

Lets start with Basic Tags.

Every post about the show (which is 99% of what I post, since this is a Dino Squad blog) is tagged with both #dino squad (two words) and #dinosquad (one word).

In most other tags that feature the name of the show, I use the one word version, for consistency. More on that later.

Posts that are not about the show, usually either dinosaur/paleontology related posts, or occasionally technical information about this blog itself, are tagged with #not dinosquad. For cool dino fun facts and art, this is the tag to explore.

Whenever a character is mentioned or very strongly implied in a post, I tag it with their full name, similar to AO3's character tags. You can follow any of these links to read every post featuring that character.

Ship Tags are a subset of character tags

Welcome to my little corner of the universe!! Happy to have ya!!

My name is Felix! Short for Felixian, long for Ian. You can call me any of the three, but I'm most used to Felix. I'm a trans guy who uses he/they/it pronouns!!

My persona (and IEYTD fan character) is Agent Felix! He's an agent-in-training with no handler, and is mostly working at solving stuff without using technology. He used to work for Dr Zoraxis in that field, not really caring if he got paid or not since he was doing what he loved. Eventually, he turned to be a reformed villain after hearing about Agent Pheonix's work. He's pretty gullible, and could switch back to the evil side if persuaded enough, but since he constantly wears an agency t-shirt he'll stick with the agency for a long time. (The agency knew they could manipulate him into staying for that reason.) He doesn't have a handler- in fact, he's been mostly self-training since everyone's kinda scared of him. (He has REALLY sharp teeth and can't bite anyone because of that. He has bit people in the past out of reflexes. He's working on it :D ) He's startled really easily and can barely remember simple things- he jumps at any loud noise, forgets where he puts his shoes, etc., yet somehow he remembers where people leave their stuff and forget. He's really helpful like that. He's always loved helping people, good or bad. He doesn't have telekinesis... yet. He's trying to replicate the kinesium device implant so it can be used for new agency members like him. He's also trying to figure out a safer, less terrifying way for it to be implanted.

By the way, if Felix hugs you then you are special to him in some way!! He loves hugs but is generally touch-repulsed UNLESS he really wants to hug the person. So it's really rare for him to hug anyone. Congrats to anyone he's hugged already!

Agent Felix is basically just me as a goober agent!! So please be nice!! If you're mean, we'll probably take it as a joke or something-

-He's a teenager, but the agency has no idea. He was known by Zoraxis and his operatives as the Teen Prodigy. Sometimes used as a compliment, the rest of the time used as a spite name.

-Self-taught in everything he believes he needs to know- science, math, art, English and Spanish. Science includes all forms of science but mostly geology, technology and psychology. He loves researching mental disorders, for some reason. (Some of the things listed were taught by Zor himself.)

-He also loves playing piano! He overheard someone playing it when he was about six years old and managed to convince them into giving him lessons.

-He's very sensitive to sound so it's likely that if an alarm goes off he'll just be stuck there covering his ears.

-He loves singing, too! His voice is high-pitched and gives him disphoria pretty massively, so he sings to relieve it. (He loves his singing voice!)

-The Death Engine actually traumatized him. He refuses to talk about it :')

-He's very weather-sensitive. As soon as it gets colder than usual he'll be wearing clothes for winter while it's only fall. He'll keep that outfit for a few months then switch to something less heavy. Same for summer- as soon as it gets hot he'll be in short sleeves and shorts, maybe flip flops if it's 5⁰ above normal. Then he'll ease back into regular clothes.

The Power Of Suggestion.

The one in which T/oji, G/eto and G/ojo are all hanging out, when G/eto decides to tease G/ojo a little, and they find out something very interesting about their other friend. This is purely indulgent snz nonsense and they will all be sneezing because I say so and because I want to, is my fic, sue me~~ Um so this is absolutely AU, because well… obvious reasons… but just picture the G/eto + G/ojo dynamic exactly as it was (cough lovers cough), but adding T/oji to the mix as he is, just a touch less murderous intent &lt;3.

And SOSOSO much credit to @lycheeehehe for getting me feral over this man and also for the idea that he’s suggestible. (hope you don’t mind the tag <3) PLEASE go check out their headcanon list for him!! I am absolutely using their ideas in this <333 To anyone who bothers to read this nonsense, thank you! And I hope you enjoy~

Getting a day off at Jujutsu Tech is almost unheard of. There’s always some student that needs training, some mission to oversee, or a mission to do yourself. Getting a day off is almost unheard of, but getting some free time is not. Especially when you happen to be the strongest teachers. I mean… who’s gonna stop you? 

This is what leads to Gojo and Geto having a picnic outside in the middle of the day. Geto lets out a sigh, relaxing against the blanket, bathing in the warmth of the spring sun. Next to him Gojo shovels mochi into his face at a rate Geto finds a touch alarming.

“Slow down a bit. Remember, we’re all meant to share those.”

“You’re the one who bought my favourite flavour of mochi! Besides, I brought the alcohol, and you know I don’t like that stuff. Fair trade, isn’t it?”

“Even if I agreed, he doesn’t drink either, so you still have to share.”

“Speaking of which, he’s late. Like always.”

“Cut him some slack. Unlike you, Toji still takes his job seriously.”

“Hey! What is that supposed to mea- Oh, hello there!”

Geto sits up, eyes scanning the field, only seeing Toji’s approach thanks to Gojo’s wave. ‘Despite knowing him for over five years now, I could never get the hang of sensing his presence. I believe he enjoys that fact. It seems to annoy him at times that Gojo catches on so easily.’ Geto offers a laugh, sitting up to meet Gojo’s gaze, sunglasses askew just enough to show the mischief in his eyes. ‘He called out before Toji on purpose, entirely to piss him off.’

“Punctual as ever, Toji.”

“Whenever I arrive I’m on time, long as it’s when I want to get there.” 

“Vague as ever as well. Either way, it’s of no matter, good you got here when you did. Satoru’s nearly finished the mochi.”

“I have not!”

Turning away from Toji and back to Gojo, Geto doesn’t miss the powder hanging off his lips. ‘Talking with his mouth full. Still distasteful, even by his standards.’ Grabbing a seat, Toji lets a sigh out, leaning down onto his back much like Geto was previously doing. He throws a comment at Gojo from his position.

“How many pieces remain?”

“There’s at least- uh… t- two…”

“Is that counting the one in your mouth?”

“Umm….”

“I’ll take that as a yes. I want the other one. Throw in some of that meat and we’ll call it even.”

“You mean a sandwich?” 

“If I wanted a sandwich I would have asked for one. I said meat.”

A smirk forms over Toji’s face, Geto letting out a chuckle as Gojo passes over the mochi, a sulk starting to form. Reaching into the basket, Geto pulls out a few sandwiches, tossing the bread back in as he hands Toji the meat by itself. ‘Who am I to judge what people eat…’

“Thanks. Now, can I take a nap here, or do you wanna spar a bit first? Been a long day.” 

“Can wait till later.”

Gojo offers, waving in a vague gesture before leaning his head down into Geto’s lap. In return Geto lets his hands wander through the white hair, stroking it as Gojo purrs. The sunglasses slowly slip down his nose until Geto pulls them off, setting them aside next to the basket. They stay like that for a minute, light snores starting to pour from Toji, until a smile starts to spread against Gojo’s face.

“What are you-”

“Hey Fushiguro, think fast!”

The cup Gojo tossed lands squarely on Toji’s face, Geto suppressing a laugh at the yelp that escapes from the gruff man. A glare shoots out at Gojo, Toji sitting up with a vicious grin, something dark starting to spread into his eyes. ‘Despite knowing he’s our ally, that look never gets less terrifying.’ 

“You wanna fight, Gojo? I’ve been craving a good ass kicking.” 

“Better run, Satoru. Got a feeling he’s about to beat you to a pulp.” 

“I’m sorry! I take it back!”

“I’ll start with that pretty face of yours.”

“Hey- woah- I need my face! How else am I supposed to get out of situations that go bad?”

“Maybe try not letting them go bad? Or, and here’s a new concept to you, don’t be the reason they go wrong, and maybe you won’t get blamed?” 

His mouth hanging open, Gojo raises an arm to mockingly drape over his face, Geto still finding himself being used as a human shield. ‘Despite the dramatics, we all know Toji couldn’t put a scratch on your face. Not anymore, at least. You have better control over infinity, and he doesn’t have the motivation.’

“You wound me, Toji!” 

“Another handful of meat and I’ll consider the assault forgiven.” 

Reaching down to grab the meat, Gojo’s uncovered eyes meet the warm sun, his face immediately ducking into Geto’s chest. Geto in return sighs, grabbing the sunglasses to prevent further outbursts he’ll have to clean up. Toji sighs, grabbing the meat himself while the others are distracted. 

“ihh’TIShh’kiew-! eh’gnchh’kiew-! hehh- aiYIShhiew-!” 

“Bless. Why did you have to aim that at me?”

“It came on fast. Besides, you’re the one who took off my sunglasses, so really it’s your fault.”

“Oh, is that the game we’re playing?”

“What do you mea-”

“It’s not my fault you’re so sensitive, Satoru.” 

Geto smirks as a cautious look crosses Gojo’s features, his nose twitching already. ‘He’s smart enough to know where I’m going with this. Looks like he’s reacting before I even get started.’ A hand raises to scrub at his face as Gojo casts a desperate look towards Toji, who for his part, seems utterly confused. ‘I guess I’ve never showed him this little party trick. He’s in for quite the show.’

“I mean, even the sun sets you off? What doesn’t get your nose itchy? Look at it now, it’s already twitching again.”

“S- hehh… Suguru… dohhhhn’t…” 

“It looks almost like a bunny, all scrunched up like that. It must be tickling so much.”

“hAH’aIYshhiew-! heH- dtshhh’kiew-!”

“Oh, bless. Even after those, your nose is still trembling. Does it almost feel like the tickle is gently buzzing through your nose, touching every sensitive-”

“ihh’gEShhh’kiew-! huh’tiSHhew-! huhh… hh- aiyshh-keashh-aiiishhh’iew-!”

Glancing over at Toji to catch his reaction to this little episode, Geto’s surprised to find his head ducking into his chest in a tight bob. Meeting his eyes however, there’s no sign of distress, a gruff chuckle spilling from his chest as Gojo’s eyes start to water. ‘Hm. Must have been nothing. Guess I’ll continue the show.’

“Suguruuu~ thihhhs isn’t- heHh-!  fa- ahh… fair!”

“Sorry, didn’t quite catch that, what did you say? It’s a bit hard to hear you through those ticklish breaths.” 

“eh’GEchh’iew-! hheHHh-! nnNTShh’kiew-! heh’AIYshhiew-! G- god it tihhhckles…” 

“How bad? Almost like a feather is tracing your nose?” 

“hH’INchhiew-! hahh-! teschhh’kiew-!”

“knt-!” 

“What was that?”

“Nothin’ that I heard.”

Geto’s eyes snap off Gojo, searching for the source of the noise. Toji’s response draws his attention, but there’s no indication across his face that he’s lying. Deciding to focus back on his boyfriend ‘Who’s currently attempting to rub his nose off his face apparently-’ Geto lets out a warm laugh, mischief that would rival Gojo’s flashing through his eyes. 

“Getting in every corner, leaving little puffs of fluff behind as the tickle-”

“heh’IShhiew-! aihhh… heHhh-! guhh… uhhH- kiEShh’diew-! hNNChh’kiew-!”

“hH’knGt-! eh’dnT-!” 

The sound comes again, this time Geto doesn’t miss Toji’s head snapping to his chest with each noise. Once he raises it again, there’s not a trace of any irritation, except a faint hue of pink starting to form around his nose. Geto meets his eyes, watching the tint spread down his cheeks. 

“Are you- sneezing?” 

“And what of it? Happens sometimes, I’m human after all.” 

This catches Gojo’s attention, shifting his focus from his own nose to Toji’s face. His sunglasses tilt down as he seems to analyze the man glaring him down. Geto matches the gaze, catching the way Toji shifts nervously under the stare as his nose starts to scrunch again. 

“You sure that’s all? You seem a bit itchy.”

“Just drop it. I’m fine.”

“Well alright!”

Geto offers a warm smile, letting his eyes close as the crinkles form in his cheeks, before pretending to turn his attention back to Gojo. ‘I have a theory to test… but I have a feeling if I’m too obvious he’ll retaliate. Or, more likely, escalate to violence.’ Meeting eyes, Gojo gives him a nod, quite understanding of the plan.

“Look at how pink your nose is getting, it’s practically quivering. I bet you have to sneeze so bad, don’t you?”

“heH’ITChhhiew-! uhh… hihH-! kieshhhew-! hehHhhH-! heH- hH’geNShh’kiew-! aiyshh’diue-!”

Despite knowing it’s not meant for him, Gojo’s nose remains just as sensitive to suggestion, a fit bursting from him before he can prevent it. Geto’s focus shifts back to Toji, watching as his own nose twitches, a fist raising to crush it as his breath snags. Gojo starts to smirk, lightly pinching his own nose to get a few words out before he sneezes again. 

“It’s just so itchy.” 

“hH’KNgT-! innGDT-! eh’dehNGT-!”

“It’s ahhlmost like the tihhh… tickle… hehHH-! The tickle is just spreaahhhh… spreading throug- heH’IShh’kiew-! Through my n- nose…. hH’tnSHhh’diew-!”

“hH’RRSHHh’oo-! ah’RRUSHH’shoo-! eH’GNZSHhh’aah-!” 

Giggles burst from the duo before they can stop them, Toji shooting them a dark look, one that’s completely undercut by the way his nose twitched. Geto gets a hold of himself first, managing to meet the glare with a smirk of his own. 

“Geto I swear to god-”

“Your nose is twitching, Toji. Does it itch? Is the tickle slowly spreading up from the tip-”

“I hhhhate you- uh’RSHHH’aa-! ahRUSHhzshho-! 

“hh’tiESHh’iew-! hehh… ahhh-! hah’aiiyshhiew-!” 

“Fuck- heH’NNZSHhh’aa-! aiRSHH’ouh-!”

Matching sneezes echo from Gojo as he doubles over into his lap, mirroring Toji’s movements as they both palm at their noses. Just as Geto’s about to start laughing again at the adorable sight, he takes notice of the evil grin Toji’s wearing. ‘This can’t be good…’

“Hey Geto.”

“Hm?”

“Play wicked games, win wicked prizes.”

Before he can ask what that means, Geto’s face pales at the cigarette Toji pulls out and lights in one fluid motion, raising it to his lips. Geto opens his mouth to protest but gets cut off by a waft of smoke Toji blows right at his face. 

“ih’gxxt’choo-! heh’kxxt’chh-! inxxt’chho-! hh’txxt’chh-!”

“You know what? This actually is pretty funny.” 

“tnxxgt’choo-! eh’kshhnt’oo-! eh’keshh’ieuu-!”

Gojo’s practically rolling around with laughter as tears spill freely from his eyes, Toji chiming in with a rough laugh of his own, cigarette hanging from his mouth mockingly. ‘Touche but- knxxgt’chh-! I’m not done in that easily.’ Even his thoughts are interrupted by sneezes. Still, Geto rubs his nose, deciding to use this to his advantage. 

“Y- you’re right… hh’dnNShh’iue-! It just ti… tihhhh… tickles so much… it’s like there’s- knxxgt’choo-! This soft feeling slowly- hnXGT’chh-! Invading my nose, running frroohhhm… from the bridge, all the way down… d- down… eH’dnxgt’choo-! Down to the tip.”

The reaction is just as he planned, Toji’s nose practically red from the abuse it’s suffering, starts to scrunch again, giving him only enough time to wrench to the side as the fit begins again. Gojo doesn’t even bother, his trembling nose being pressed into his hands as he harmonizes with his own outburst. 

“huH’RRZZShhh’oo-! hehh- hh’zzASHHH’oo-! Geto you- hnNZSHh’uuh-!”

“aiyshh’kiew-! huhh... heh- ihhh’tiEShhiew-! knEShh’diew-!” 

“rrRUSHhh’aa-! You’re a dihhhck. hEH’RDJShh’ouh-!” 

“aiyshhiew-! hehh.. I h- have to… huHhh-! hh’keshh’chiew-!” 

Not able to get the cigarette out in time, Toji leans forward with a light cough, blowing smoke right onto the other two. Gojo’s not as allergic as Geto, but having it blown right at him gets his eyes watering up immediately, Geto not even getting a breath before the next series of sneezes overtakes him. 

“eh’gnxsh’ue-! hH’keshh’shuu-! hehknxt’choo-! inxxt’choo-! heh’knxxt’chh-! eh’dnShh’uee-!”

“heH’AIyshh’kiew-! ehh… hiH’eSHh’diew-!”

“Weak, the b- huhh… Both of youuu uhH’RUSHH’aa-! AERSHH’oo-!” 

“Not sounding so invulnerable yourself, Toji. eh’aIYshh’diew-! ehhh-! hah’dieshh’kiew-!”

“Okay, okay, you two. We give, you win Toji. hh’knxt’choo-!” 

“Like usual.”

The sneezes slowly fade out, laughter replacing them as all three find themselves laying down, gazing up at the sky as they wipe the tears from their eyes. Geto can’t help but smile at the scene, three of the strongest people at Jujutsu Tech reduced to a panting mess from a cloud of smoke and some words. 

“I didn’t know you were as sensitive as Satoru.”

“Hey-”

“I’m not. Just a tad suggestible is all.”

“I see.”

“You tell anyone you die, you got that Suguru?” 

In lieu of a response, Geto offers an innocent smile, reaching over and tapping the tip of Gojo’s nose. He gets a whimper in response, Gojo twisting around to bury his nose in the blanket as the sneezes start again. Toji winces at the action, chuckling lightly as Geto lays back down. 

“hehHH-! eiSHh’diew-! Hahh… hah’kESHhh’iew-!”

“Seems he maintains his position as the most sensitive.” 

“Ru- hUH’tIShh’kiew-! Rude.”

“Gross, Satoru.” 

“Th- thanksfor- iHH’keSHh’diew-! Thanks for your concern T- tehH’eSHhh’iew-! Toji.” 

“Geto, you better make sure he washes that before you put it back.”

“hAHhh… eh’geSHhhh’kiew-! enchshhh’iew-!”

Laughter descends over the three friends once more as Gojo leans into Geto, his arm casually draping across Toji’s chest. Normally this type of overly clingy affection was not stood for, but after the events of today, Toji lets it slide. The three of them close their eyes, bathing in the sun’s gentle embrace once more. For a moment, just a moment, they’re not the strongest, sorcerers, killers, or anything. 

They’re just three friends sharing a blanket on a warm spring day.

i tried out flight rising but its really confusing? sob emoji. any tips on how to get used to it or is it meant to be like this

Tbh I think FR is one of the more straightforward pet sims because there's not really much to do outside of gene-ing and dressing your dragons, unless you like to participate in the community aspects like selling dragons/items, writing lore for your clan or destabilising the economy - but I understand the new pet sim confusion (I could never get the hang of neopets lol). I could probably be more helpful if you tell me which parts of the site are confusing specifically, so feel free to send me a follow up ask or chat message abt that.

It's been a while since I joined but I can try to go over the basic stuff! Under the read more for length:

So the main things you can do on FR are:

Buy or hatch dragons – Primary forms of dragon acquisition are the Auction House where you can buy them directly from other users, random eggs that you can get from scavenging using the Gather Items feature (this is rare), or breeding two of your own dragons.

Acquire genes through the marketplace or other means like the auction house or the Trading Post (You can excavate genes in Arlo's Excavations, synthesise them in Baldwin's Bubbling Brew, or trade for them in Swipp's Swap Stand*) There's three gene types: Primary (for the body), Secondary (for the wings) and Tertirary (for fun accents).

Slap those genes on your dragons (if you're not sure what a gene will look like and don't wanna commit blindly, you can preview it on your dragon in the Scrying Workshop)

Dress dragons in fun clothes (again, acquired through various sources like the marketplace, auction house or trading post)

[Optional] Breed dragons to achieve specific color/gene combinations, or just for the hell of it. All of your dragons will have the eye color of whatever flight you belong to, but you can send them off to other users who have the color you prefer so they can nest them. I don't think the website interferes if there is theft, however, so be careful (for the record, though, I've never had problems when I've asked for available nests on tumblr).

[Optional] Put accents or skins on your dragons for that extra touch of personality. Accent/Skins are user-made art you can slap onto your dragon, you acquire these mainly in the auction house (some users also have forum shops) or through holidays. There's also official skins/accents made by the ppl who run the site that you can get in the marketplace.

Other stuff you can do:

Play minigames to earn treasure so you can fund your newly formed dragon gening/dressing addiction

Gamble at Roundsey's Raffle to win cool prizes like Generation 1 dragons (dragons that don't have any parents listed in their Lineage box, considered valuable by the community even though gameplay-wise they're not at all different from other dragons who have parents)

[optional] Develop a debilitating G1 addiction

Get two dragons with rare/pretty color and gene combos, make lots of babies and sell them to other users for lots of money.

Every month the website has a flight-specific holiday where you can get limited edition items and skins. Each holiday has its own currency attached to it that you can earn through doing things around the site like gathering or battling in the coliseum.

Battle in the coliseum to develop early-onset carpal tunnel. If you want to get into battling, I've always used Culex's training guide to get my dragons into shape.

Put familiars on your dragons (you can get 'em through the auction house, marketplace, trading post, or gathering.) They don't do much except being swag beasts who give you treasure chests if you bond with them.

Exalt dragons to send them up to the great beyond. Every week, the community has dominance battles, where two (usually) flights duke it out to see who can exalt the most dragons. Winning this fight nets you perks for your flight like discounts in the marketplace for the next week. Dom battles are usually planned weeks in advance to give everyone a chance to prepare - I've never participated, though, so that's my extent of knowledge on 'em.

If you're still unsure about what to do after all the above, the Which Waystone function might help. There's also the Encyclopedia which will get you up to date on the lore and other such things, and the Database where you can look up specific items.

To start off, I'd suggest slapping your two progen dragons into the scrying workshop and seeing what genes you like best on them!

Then you can go play some minigames in the fairgrounds to earn treasure and buy those genes (or buy gems if you want gem genes. FR is probably the easiest website to earn premium currency on - either by doing commissions, selling dragons/items, finding them in random chests, etc.) Afterwards, you can breed the two if you wanna see what kinda babies they make - who knows, if you got good colors/genes, you could sell them for more treaure or gems. If you don't like the random colors you got on your progens, you can try your luck and use a tri-color scatterscroll on them (bought from the marketplace) to maybe get better colors. You can also buy a dragon from the auction house that matches the colors of your preferred progen better and pair them with that. From then, on, uh. The site's your oyster!

Putting together the perfect dragon can take a while - I've spent months trying for the exact color combo I wanted. Acquiring genes/clothes doesn't have to happen in a day, so don't get discouraged if you can't get your dragons to look spiffy immediately.

If you want to get into the creative side of the site, you can write lore for your clan. This is basically just writing your own story with your dragons (and one of the most fun part of the community for me).

*To trade for genes at Swipp's or brew stuff at Baldwin's you'll have to gather materials and other items, which you primarily acquire through gathering or fighting in the coliseum.

The Pentas Family Encyclopedia

So, if you’ve been reading my more recent fics, then you’ve probably noticed how I can’t seem to shut up about [The Future Mob Project]. Although this project is going to take a very, very, VERY long time to actually complete, that’s not going to stop me from fleshing out its characters, environment, and lore piece-by-piece. I’ve already written a few stories for this, and plenty more stories are on the way. 

(Except for Murdock—and, to an extent, Two-Toes Johnny—every character/ego on this list is MY creation. If any art or other stories happen to be inspired by them, PLEASE make sure to tag/credit me as the creator. I haven’t been this motivated to write in a long time, and I put a lot of time, thought, and effort into my work. If you have questions about the characters or lore, feel free to send me an ask or a DM. I love talking about creative stuff!)

This mob has a lot of growing/developing to do, and I will ABSOLUTELY be making updates/reblogs to this post as new characters are introduced and new ideas are implemented. Please keep in mind that updates may be sporadic, because adult life is complicated and exhausting and I’m ScaredTM.

This mob consists of several contract-killers, spies/informants, and Black Market merchants. The Boss will often assign the mob’s members to dispatch specific targets, but the aforementioned members are still able to take on hit-jobs if they’re approached by outside clients.

They’ve long-since claimed the Cove Port Inlets (a quaint seaside city) as their territory. The Inlets used to have an expansive subway system, but those underground tunnels were abandoned due to a bad flood; thus, the above-ground stations were repurposed into varying shops/houses. However, each of those former stations are still connected to the subway tunnels via concrete staircases (which are now carefully hidden). The former stations have all been purchased by The Pentas Family—now, the mob’s representatives either live in or work out of them. As a bonus, the abandoned security offices/subway platforms are used as underground dens/hidey-holes, and the tunnels offer discreet movement beneath the city. 

There’s no enforced dress-code, but it’s still advised that Pentas representatives wear red. The red garments in question can be any type of clothing so long as it’s visible, and they can vary from shade to shade. 

In the event that the mob gains an ally (not a new member), that ally will be provided with an enamel pin designed to look like a poison dart frog. This dart frog pin will act as an identification device for Pentas members who somehow may be unaware of the new alliance; that way, the ally won’t be mistaken for an intruder. (The dart frog pin can also be used as a warning sign for unallied outsiders—basically, This person is under Pentas protection; screw around with them and YOU WILL REGRET IT.)

Who He’s Based Off Of: Mark Fischbach (Markiplier)

His Method of Work: Honestly, he’s a jack-of-all-trades. Oh sure, he has an unhealthy amount of knowledge on different types of blades, but that’s just the beginning. Pretty much anything can be a weapon, depending on how creative (read: insane) you are. He also knows his way around firearms, but for...personal reasons, he only uses them when there are no other options available.

Red Attire: Turtleneck sweater (Currant)

Notes:

He has a rare case of eye-misalignment. Specifically speaking, his right eye is turned to the right (as though he’s looking at something sideways). His left eye can move around in its socket as intended, but his right eye never follows along with that movement. According to him, the misalignment was caused by a traumatic accident he experienced before he’d joined The Pentas Family (apparently, it’s a miracle he wasn’t rendered half-blind). When he’s working on underground business, he wears his sunglasses. But when he’s keeping up appearances in normal society, he wears a white medical eyepatch.

Both his black-tinted sunglasses and brass necklace are trophies from his earliest kills. (Yes, I will try to go more in-depth with this idea in the future.)

He was the first official member of The Pentas Family, and has since earned a reputation for being The Boss’ right-hand-man. (Notice: I don’t have the backstory/relationship between the two of them completely nailed down yet. But what I do know for sure is that THEY ARE NOT ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED WHATSOEVER. NOBODY IN THIS MOB IS.)

He's a legit bird-whisperer. I’ve seen plenty other people post about him chilling with crows or ravens, and that’s already perfect, but I think adding more birds in general to the mix would make it even better. Chickens, ducks, sparrows, cockatiels, parakeets, pigeons, etc. Even GEESE tend to be calm around him (which could count as a sign of something being wrong with him). It’s not uncommon for him to spend his off-time at the park feeding the birds he claims to have technically adopted.

He lives out of a houseboat docked near the quiet part of the beach. He’s not above driving it long distances across the water when he needs to travel for his work.

If his scene in ISWM Part 2 was anything to go by, he enjoys making morbid jokes/puns. Ironically, he tends to get dissapointed or annoyed whenever other people make morbid jokes/puns. He and Caliban have gotten into arguments (with varying degrees of violence) over puns on at least three separate occasions.

He’s currently acting as a mentor to The Newcomer. It’s his responsibility to teach them and introduce them to the other Pentas members.

The Newcomer

Who They’re Based Off Of: The Reader (Y/N)

Their Method of Work: They haven’t developed a personal signature quite yet. As of right now, they’re content with just assisting Murdock and the rest of The Pentas Family. They’ve got a surprising/disturbing amount of competence, but they’re still a rookie; therefore, they still have some things to learn.

Caliban Crawford

Who He’s Based Off Of: Matthew Patrick/MatPat (Game/Film/Food/Style Theory)

His Method of Work: He acts as one of The Pentas Family’s many body-disposal resources (if they disposed of bodies in just one way, they’d risk gathering concentrated amounts of evidence). His particular technique for disposal is good ol’ fashioned cannibalism.

Red Attire: Leather jacket (Crimson)

Notes:

Aside from the body-disposal stuff, he’ll often help other Pentas members navigate the Black Market. He’s also invaluable when it comes to organizing certain trading events. He’s a cannibal, sure, but he also knows just how much of a pretty penny human organs can make. (Besides, not all body parts are safe for consumption; brains, eyeballs, intestines, and bones for example.)

Cannibal puns 24/7. The subtlety—or lack thereof—with which he delivers these puns can vary, depending on the situation he’s in. (“I’ve been told I have a great taste in people.” “If anyone’s a humanitarian, it’s me!” “I am what I eat, after all. . .” etc.) 

He has a pet leucistic hare named Snare (somewhat inspired by Matt’s childhood pet bunny, Sunny). As hares are proven omnivores/scavengers, it just makes sense for Caliban to spoil Snare by feeding him human fingers as treats (highly inspired by Monty Python’s Killer Rabbit).

He has an ENORMOUS collection of butcher knives and medical blades, because of course he does. His favorite of them all is a damascus steel cleaver, which he frequently carries in his jacket pocket as his primary weapon.

There’s a silver tooth cap in the place of his upper left canine. He lost said canine when one of his victims surprised him by grabbing his tenderizing hammer and hitting him in the mouth with it as they tried to escape (this also left a small, jagged scar on the left side of his upper lip). Obviously, Caliban recovered from this. But the person who knocked his tooth out? Not so much. . .

His house is located in the downtown area, and is connected to the abandoned subway tunnels. He’s basically turned the old security office into a basement-kitchen setup.

Azalea Crawford

Who She’s Based Off Of: Rosanna Pansino (Nerdy Nummies)

Her Method of Work: She knows pretty much everything there is to know about poison. Toxic plants, venomous animals, man-made chemicals, you name it. The collection she keeps for hit-jobs and the like goes way, way beyond your typical arsenic. She even has a greenhouse full of deadly plants (including her namesake, obviously) in her backyard. When she’s on the clock, she’ll usually take care of targets by slipping poisons into a nice little baked goodie. Azalea’s not squeamish about needles, but this is easier and more discreet.

Red Attire: Headband (Cherry)

Notes:

This lovely lady is Caliban’s sister, and shares a strong sibling bond with him. (In fact, she actually taught Caliban a lot of what he knows about cooking. Sure, it took a bit of trial-and-error for some recipes to work with human flesh, but it just be like that sometimes.)

She has a pet scarlet kingsnake named Cuddles. Scarlet kingsnakes are harmless, but they specifically evolved to mimic the coloration of coral snakes, which are infamously venomous. Azalea understands the irony of this perfectly. She also understands how easy it is for people to mix up the color patterns, so, of course, she’ll occasionally handle Cuddles purely for confusion/intimidation.

She’s the owner/head chef of Aftertaste, a popular restaurant/bar, in order to help keep up appearances for The Pentas Family. The building is connected to the abandoned subway tunnels. 

If any Pentas members decide to use poison for a hit-job, then they need to go to Azalea for help. She’s one of very, very few people who can be trusted to use such dangerous substances properly. (But sometimes, even mobsters aren’t immune to hubris. So, Azalea keeps a stockpile of antidotes/painkillers in order to fix certain mistakes.)

She’s the reason Caliban was able to adopt Snare. She found the hare in the basement of one of her past targets (who was the leader of an exotic animal trafficking ring); he reminded her of her brother, so she ended up giving him to Caliban as a present.

K.O. [Kaiser Oasis]

Who He’s Based Off Of: Ethan Nestor (CrankGamePlays)

His Method of Work: Whether he’s in the arena, defending himself and his peers, or extracting information from enemies, K.O. packs a major wallop. Not only that, but his stamina is roughly on-par with that of a mongoose fueled by a few too many Pixie Sticks. . . He was discovered by The Pentas Family shortly after The Boss decided to branch out into the underground fighting business.

Red Attire: Fluctuates between jeans for when he’s out of the arena, and boxing shorts for when he’s in the arena (Amaranth)

Notes:

Despite being a mobster, he’s a surprisingly courteous fighter. Yeah, he pummels his opponents, but that’s literally what career-fighting is all about. Now, on the other hand: if you’ve personally wronged him or someone he cares about, or if he catches wind that you’re going to try and cheat your way through a match with him. . .well, I wouldn’t count on him having too much self-restraint. 

Ironically, K.O. also serves as a medic for The Pentas Family. It took some time and practice, of course, but he’s gotten pretty damn good at patching up stab/bullet wounds and resetting broken bones. (It’s not uncommon to get bumps and bruises in the underground business, and going to a normal hospital is typically a big no-no, since the staff there would likely ask too many questions about certain injuries.) 

While he only wraps his hands for his fighting matches, he’s still not above occasionally using brass knuckles—which he has affectionately named Francis and J.P.—for interrogation or message-sending assignments. 

Though he’ll sometimes travel for certain assignments, K.O. usually represents The Pentas Family at a place called The WormRoll: roller skating rink by day, hidden-in-plain-sight fighting arena by night. The building is connected to the abandoned subway tunnels, and K.O. has made his personal platform-office-den into a training room.

Before and after his matches, he wears a black robe with a picture of a peacock mantis shrimp embroidered on the back. (When K.O. first joined The Pentas Family, Murdock commissioned a sewing artist to make said robe as a welcoming gift for him. Yes, Francis and J.P. were included in that gift.)

He’s multilingual; he can speak English, French, Portuguese, and Italian on a conversational level. This obviously means a lot of foreign swearing when he’s frustrated/angry. He has no trace of an accent from any of those languages, and none of his peers know why or how he picked them up in the first place. K.O., being the gremlin he is, doesn’t plan to explain anytime soon. (Plus, he can’t not be a little smug about being the only Italian-speaking member of a mob. Just like how he can't not use that to tease Murdock.)

Y’know creepy-crawly lollipops? Yes, the ones that have a cricket or some other insect frozen inside. Those are K.O.’s favorite candy. Unless he’s in the ring, he’s almost always got one in his pocket. (On a slightly more humorous note: sometimes he’ll make a small show of pretending that the lollipop sticks are cigarettes.)

Garret Wyre

Who He’s Based Off Of: Mick Lauer 

His Method of Work: If there’s two things to be said about Garret, it’s that he has a pair of big, strong hands, and he knows how to use them. You could argue that “Everyone knows how to use their hands, idiot.” To which I say. . .first of all, chill out. Words can hurt. Second of all, not everyone can make a career out of strangling people. But Garret most certainly has. That being said, he knows when to use other tools  (ropes, scarves, cords, stuff like that) to get the job done. He knows he can’t realistically rely on his hands for each and every one of his assignments. In any case, the day his grip isn’t firm is the day he’s not Garret.

Red Attire: Scarf (Maroon)

Notes:

Garret brings a complex vibe to The Pentas Family. His disposition is stern, but he knows to be patient with the other members. Despite this, he’s always a bit. . .fidgety. Restless. He has a hard time sitting still, and an even harder time not giving people the side-eye or glancing over his shoulder. In fact, the only times he seems genuinely calm and self-assured is when he’s choking the life out of his targets. Sure, he still acts aggressively toward said targets, but there’s no denying just how soft and quiet his voice becomes when he taunts them.

His hobbies outside of mob work include knitting and sewing. It just seems to ease his nerves a bit. He even made the very scarf he wears whenever he’s working on Pentas business. This also bleeds into the fact that Garret is on the superstitious side. Half of his sewing/knitting projects involve making voodoo dolls of those who screw around with The Pentas Family. He treats said dolls a lot like stress toys, often patching them up after bashing their stuffing out only to do it all over again sooner or later.

He very much believes in the concept of luck. Quite ironic, considering he was born on a Tuesday The 13th (look it up; apparently those are even worse than Friday The 13ths). He doesn’t bother with all the chakra-crystal-incense stuff, but he does keep a glass Evil Eye charm in one pocket, as well a miniature horseshoe in the other. He never goes directly home right after taking care of a target. He avoids the number four like the plague. He makes sure his right foot is leading whenever he enters a room. Et cetera, et cetera. 

One of the few superstitions he doesn’t believe in is black cats being harbingers of doom. In fact, he adores black cats. Particularly Juju, a stray black kitten he adopted after a very last-minute, impromptu hit-job.

He’s the manager of Itchy Palms, a popular casino on the edge of The Cove Port Inlet’s uptown area. The building is connected to the abandoned subway tunnels. And it’s safe to say that Garret knows. His. Business. He knows how to play each and every game, as well as several ways to cheat at each and every game without giving said cheating away. His outlook on fairness is. . .unconventional.

Parker Thenope

Who He’s Based Off Of: Nathan Sharp (NateWantsToBattle/Give Heart Records)

His Method of Work: There are several ways to be adept in water. Such as holding a person under it until they stop moving, or drenching a person over and over again until they give up the information you need. Which is exactly how Parker earns his keep. His assignments often involve haunting the local beach—or, more precisely, the cluster of shallow sea-caves along the beach’s edges. But in a pinch, he’s willing to use pools/hot tubs/etc. to his advantage (it just means he’ll have to be clever with how he goes about the job). 

Red Attire: Face-mask (Carmine) 

Notes:

Parker is the personification of “it’s always the quiet ones who snap the loudest.” Sure, he’s cooperative and understanding toward his peers in The Pentas Family, but underneath his chill, humorous, nonchalant veil lurks a bit of a ticking time-bomb. As a child, it was constantly drilled into him to camouflage his real emotions, to always appear calm and collected on the outside. If you’ve done something to majorly piss him off, then really, your only chance is to hide and hope he doesn’t find you. 

Fittingly enough, his hobbies include swimming. He learned at a very young age, so, it’s safe to say that he’s excellent at following the flow of water, holding his breath for generous periods of time, etc. And who can blame him? It’s a lot of fun, it’s great exercise, and it allows him to have the upper hand whenever he happens to also be in the water while taking care of a target.

When it comes to anything music-related, he’s incredibly skilled. Not only does he have a lovely singing voice, but he’s an expert on playing guitar, drums, and even the piano on occasion. Music is a very effective form of stress-relief, and he’s been using it as such long before he entered the underground business. 

He’s very familiar with Ear Caffeine, a music studio in the Cove Port Inlets. He works there as a songwriter/lyricist, as well as a session musician, though he’s now basically in charge of the place ever since its former owners disappeared into thin air. (The building is connected to the abandoned subway tunnels, and Parker was instrumental—pun vERY MUCH INTENDED—to The Pentas Family claiming it as part of their territory.)  

On top of that, Parker also owns Chord Craft, a combination of record store and instrument-repair shop on the side. He was the head-honcho over there before he was welcomed into the mob, and while he’s since hired more people to run it, he still cares for it. 

Even before he joined The Pentas Family, he made a point to wear a face mask every day (he sees the red one he wears now as an upgrade). He only ever takes it off when he’s swimming or sleeping. He doesn’t have any scars to cover up; he just finds comfort in personal anonymity. 

He’s learned to consider all the different ways decomposition can work in watery areas. Just because his signature is to drown targets doesn’t mean he can always afford to just leave their bodies floating. It’s not uncommon for him to seek out Murdock, arranging to take a ride on the hitman’s houseboat in order to dump certain bodies far out from the Inlets’ boundaries.

Val Ocitie 

Who They’re Based Off Of: Lio Tipton

Their Method of Work: Tommy guns may be rare nowadays, but that isn’t a problem for Val. Their hidden arsenal is already impressive enough; you could say they have many, many neutral specials. Sure, they can see the appeal of blades and other deadly stuff, but guns are fast, efficient, and most importantly of all, devastating. (Especially if a silencer is involved. Ooh, does that help thicken the plot.) Don’t screw around with them or their family unless you want to cosplay as swiss cheese. 

Red Attire: Chainmail bracelet (Vermillion) 

Notes:

Val has long-since learned to thrive in chaos, to the point of outright craving it. Sometimes they see underground business as a game. While their attitude is usually excitable around those they trust, their energy can turn aggressive in a heartbeat. They’re the type to get up in an enemy’s face, wearing a false, icy grin all the while.

Along with the hit-jobs they're assigned, Val is responsible for supplying The Pentas Family's firepower. Similar to how Caliban is an expert in organ-trafficking, Val knows the ins and outs of the illegal weapons trade. They've rearranged their personal gun collection several times now, selling and exchanging certain models to avoid leaving any patterns in their work.

Once upon a time, Val worked for a different mob; one that wasn’t exactly on good terms with The Pentas Family. Well, things ended up falling apart, and Val found themself at the mercy of Murdock and his peers. Of course, things were rocky at first. . .but somehow, Val eventually realized that they felt some kind of kinship with them. It took some time, but they were welcomed in, and are now following Pentas operations with strong loyalty.

They grew up somewhat rural, learning how to handle guns at a pretty young age. Though their family wasn’t poor, hunting game animals for food was still a big tradition that they helped to carry on. They don’t really do that kind of hunting anymore, but they still take monthly trips to shooting ranges in order to practice with clay pigeons. 

They’re the only Pentas member who doesn’t live in/work out of a building that’s connected to the abandoned subway tunnels. Instead, they live in a tidy cabin located in Reilpi Woods, a huge forest about a fifteen-minute drive from the Cove Port Inlet’s city limits. Not that Val minds, though; the area gives them nostalgia. While they can appreciate all the conveniences of more urban environments, they’ve always enjoyed being surrounded by trees. Besides, it’s not like they don’t know where all the secret entrances to the underground dens are.

They’re a natural when it comes to evaluating another person’s character. It’s an important skill to have in this line of work, especially considering how the work is question is very much illegal. Despite their uncertain start in The Pentas Family, it hasn’t taken much time at all for Val to learn each of the other members inside and out. . .well, except for The Newcomer. (For now, at least.)

Two-Toes Johnny [Johnathan Shine]

Who He’s Based Off Of: Bob Muyskens (Muyskerm)

His Method of Work: Though he’s not really a hitman, he still knows his way around interrogation and message-sending. His weapon/tool of choice is a baseball bat that was apparently an heirloom he just so happened to inherit as a teenager. It might not look like much, but neither will those who anger The Pentas Family (or their clients) after Johnny uses it to beat them black and blue.

Red Attire: Belt (Tawny Port)

Notes:

Now, to address the elephant in the room: yes, he actually does only have two toes. The right big-toe and the left middle-toe, to be specific. All that’s left of the other eight are scars, and exactly how he lost them is a total mystery. Sure, he might vaguely rant about the incident(. . .s?) from time to time—usually after he’s had a few too many drinks—but it just seems impossible for anyone to figure out what the hell happened, as well as why the hell it happened. 

While he’s able to get tipsy or wasted, Two-Toes Johnny is nothing if not an experienced drinker. Working in the illegal alcohol trade will do that to you. When he’s not overseeing illicit spirits, he’s The Pentas Family’s primary bookkeeper, organizing all the money he and his peers rake in.

He’s the owner/manager of Liquorty Splitz, a (what else?) popular liquor store in the Cove Port Inlets. It currently supplies alcohol to Aftertaste, Itchy Palms, and several other joints. The building is connected to the abandoned subway tunnels. (He also has a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend type link to a place called The Robe. It doesn't fall under Pentas control—it’s basically an open secret in the criminal underground as a whole—but ever since Johnny entered the mob, he’s sort of paved the way for Murdock and the others to occasionally use their free-time to pay it a visit.)

He carries a very rough-around-the-edges demeanor. Sarcastic, blunt, quick to make snappy remarks or roll his eyes. It’s one of many survival mechanisms he’s learned over the years. Despite this, he still knows how respect and basic decency work. Earn his trust, and you’ll have an invaluable friend for life. (In such cases, the term “aggressive motivation/positivity” is an understatement.)

He’s a bookworm. His collection of novels is almost constantly threatening to grow bigger than his collection of vintage alcohol. He appreciates a lot of modern stuff, but he’s always had a soft spot for the classics. In fact, he always keeps a few books in his desk at Liquorty Splitz to read on slower nights. 

He has two tattoos on his face: a silvery little star just below his right temple, and the branch of a cherry blossom tree stretching along his jawline and ending near his left eyebrow. It’s not uncommon for him to trace the linework of either of them with his fingertips while he’s thinking. He claims that there’s no symbolism behind either of them, that they were the results of a couple drunken nights that took place a long time ago. (There’s a decent chance that’s true. . .but then, why does his expression occasionally turn soft and unreadable when he looks at these tattoos in the mirror?)

Standing at 6’4, Johnny is the biggest/tallest member of The Pentas Family. And he obviously knows how to use this to his advantage. As in, if he and his peers are in a violent situation, he’ll barely hesitate to pick said peers up by the waist/collar/legs and just. . .swing them in the direction of the enemy. Since the peers in question often have weapons on-hand, this method is shockingly efficient. It’s typically not appreciated, of course.

Phoenix Rhong 

Who She’s Based Off Of: Safiya Nygaard 

Her Method of Work: Playing with fire can be hard (depending on your perspective, at least), but getting burned is quite easy. Not so for someone who’s had as much practice as Phoenix. Where there’s smoke, there’s her. Pretty much a pro-gamer when it comes to plotting and coordinating, she’s the one to look for when riskier jobs need to be taken. After all, find an empty building in a very specific part of town, and voila! Instant Distraction—Just Add Fuel and Sparks! 

Red Attire: Ring (Garnet)

Notes:

Phoenix serves as a semi-dirty lawyer. As thorough and calculating as The Pentas Family is, mistakes can still be made. Bad timing and unlucky coincidences are still a factor. In such cases, Phoenix is invaluable for keeping her peers safe and their work hidden. On top of that, it never hurts to frame or expose an enemy or two; that just means less attention on her family, as well as less competition to deal with. She knows how to discreetly sow discord among enemies, how to tamper with evidence (whether planting it elsewhere or outright destroying it). 

Yes, she’s addicted to watching flames dance and hearing them crackle, but she still understands that they’re much more brutal than they are pretty. To be clear, she’s made her peace with reducing the corpses of certain targets to ash, but. . .well, they’re corpses. Like paper or clothing or many other flammable things, they can’t scream or feel pain when they’re being disposed of. (Not anymore, at least.) Whatever her peers did to those targets beforehand is just how they earn their own keep.

She’s responsible for the ironically legal parts of underground business. Negotiating prices/terms, relaying important messages, that kind of stuff. She helps form the contracts that the other Pentas representatives use, and she’s almost always in the room when those contracts are being discussed with outsiders (clients, allies, etc.). 

She’s very savvy when it comes to flammable chemicals. How exactly they burn, what to mix them with for the best results, how long it takes for them to reach their peak. Sure, matches and gasoline can be pretty damn effective, but an inferno often has to be handled very specifically. Sometimes the flames have to burn slower or faster. Sometimes they need to snuff themselves out at a quick rate. Sometimes they have to leave burned imprints behind rather than devour everything they touch. It all just depends on the job at hand. 

As part of an under-the-table agreement, she’s the owner of Scattered Wishes, the one and only crematorium the Cove Port Inlets has to offer. The building is connected to the abandoned subway tunnels, and she uses her personal den to hide various forms of evidence until they’re ready to be loaded into one of the ovens. 

“Phoenix Rhong” is NOT her original name. It’s not a fake identity, either. How she managed to take the name for herself. . .well, I'll go into more detail about that later.

Miles C. Peyote and Howie Thetaxi

Who They’re Based Off Of: Lewis Dawkins (Dawko) and Ryan (8-BitRyan), respectively 

Their Methods of Work: When your reputation precedes you from all the way across the pond, you’ve definitely done something right! (Unless that was never your intention, in which case you’ve done something horribly, horribly wrong.) Remember the board game Mouse Trap? Well, Miles probably played it a few too many times in his youth, if the booby traps he sets up nowadays are anything to go by. Whether the goal is to kill or simply capture someone, his designs never fail to be. . .elaborate. Howie, meanwhile, doubles as a mechanic and driver. From ditching cops to running enemies off the road, he has more than enough skill to make professional racers envious. Never, NEVER forget the importance of seatbelts if you’re getting into a car with him. (Also, never put your feet on the dash. It’s rude.)

Notes:

These two got their start in The Marble Hummingbirds, a different mob based in the UK that  has had a strong alliance with The Pentas Family for years now. As part of standard underground affairs, Miles and Howie volunteered to relocate to the US and work more closely with Murdock and the others. The adjustment was a bit difficult (especially for Howie), but they both understand that it makes several aspects of business more efficient. They both retain a good balance of loyalty between their original crew and their new one. 

Miles is selective when it comes to speaking. He’ll talk freely when he’s among people he trusts or is in a place that he’s deemed safe/comfortable, but when he’s out in public, he’s just. . .very quiet. He’ll still talk a little for the sake of politeness or formality, but only a little. If an area is open or unfamiliar, he’ll usually prefer to use body language and the like. (This does absolutely NOT stop him from cackling like a maniac over his traps.)

Howie has no qualms about reckless driving. Swerving, speeding, staging accidents; he can do it all without batting an eye. Whatever it takes to get himself and his buddies (plus their cargo) from Point A to Point B without getting stopped or caught. However, this mindset only applies to his personal driving. When he’s casually out and about, he can’t stand other drivers who tailgate, block lanes, cut others off, etc. If you act rude toward him in traffic, he can and will make a side-quest out of finding a way to get back at you. And yes, this extends to when he’s on the job. It’s not at all uncommon for him to go back and forth between chatting with his passengers and yelling at idiots on the road in the middle of a high-stakes-chase.

Miles has a habit of collecting plushies; especially odd-looking ones. (For example: the creepy-yet-cute stuff you might find on Etsy.) But his plushies aren’t just for aesthetic or decoration. He’s modified each and every one of them to be soft little storage units. Some have well-hidden zippers in their backs, while others have their heads function as the lids to jars stuffed inside their stomachs. Miles uses this strategy to hide valuables, such as varying sums of money or the odd piece of jewelry taken from a target. 

Howie is miraculously conscious of animals on the road. That’s one of few exceptions to his typical stance on getaway driving. He will always, ALWAYS make sure to avoid hitting cats, dogs, raccoons, deer. . .or squirrels. As a matter of fact, one squirrel that he managed to spare back in the day seems to have pledged a life-debt to him. Seriously, he avoided hitting it while he was still working in the UK, and by now it’s followed him to the US. Wherever Howie is, the squirrel always seems to be somewhere in the background, just watching and waiting.

Along with all the getaway driving stuff, Howie has helped The Pentas Family to form its very own chop-shop. Whenever cars are stolen from targets or enemies, Howie will be there to dismantle or sabotage said cars. Legitimate parts are sold, and certain jobs involve filling a vehicle with counterfeit parts in order to frame its owner.  

Ever since relocating, both Miles and Howie live out of The Five Seasons, a hotel near the Cove Port Inlet’s city entrance. The building is connected to the abandoned subway tunnels, and the duo rotates between sharing the hidden den; Miles will use it to build/test his traps, and Howie will use it simply to store/tamper with various car parts. The hotel just so happens to be right across the street from the car repair garage (Oh, for God’s Brake!) that Howie uses for his day-job.

Who He’s Based Off Of: Thomas Sanders

His Method of Work: The Pentas Family can be thought of as many things. Well, if you were to think of it as, say, an anglerfish, then Jay would play the role of that bright, shiny lure. He can put on a Grammy-worthy act in the blink of an eye, whether to lead a target to their doom or to keep any potential witnesses away from a soon-to-be crime scene.

On top of con-games, Jay can also be quite stealthy if the job calls for it. Sneaking around enemy turf, setting up a sabotage or two, gathering information, spying on those who give off weird vibes during business negotiations. . .

Unlike most of his peers, Jay was raised in a comfortable, pleasant environment. . .or, that environment was comfortable and pleasant while he was a kid. Things changed pretty drastically after he became an adult; more specifically, after he came out. He ended up leaving his hometown behind, hopping from one motel to another. Though he worked various odd-jobs, he also quickly learned to pick pockets in order to survive. 

By the time he had a chance-meeting with a few Pentas representatives, Jay had already somewhat dipped his toes into the criminal underground. Mainly via listening to the hurried whispers of passersby, and then trading those memorized details for cash.

Despite what happened to him, Jay has never once questioned himself or felt ashamed of who he is. Even when he was offered a place in The Pentas Family, he was still very much intimidated by them at first. But the support and open-mindedness they showed was quick to seal the deal for him. This in turn led to him (along with Val) having a hand in making sure that any Pentas-owned businesses are clearly marked as safe spaces for queer people.

He is most certainly NOT immune to morbid fascination. True, he doesn’t do any actual killing himself, but. . .well, I wouldn’t put it past him to look over the carnage left after a hit-job, all curious and thoughtful. The cleanup crew has gotten pretty used to him hanging around while they work. 

He works at Bullskit, a theater/auditorium that serves as one of the oldest buildings in the Cove Port Inlets (it’s still in business; it was even freshly remodeled when Jay joined the mob). It’s connected to the abandoned subway tunnels, and Jay kinda just lives there after hours. During hours, however, he dabbles in a bit of everything: stagehand, greenroom tech, assistant to the directors, you name it. If a target or enemy happens to get on the stage, Jay isn’t exactly above looking the other way when his peers sneak in to drop sandbags, switch out prop weapons for real ones, rig the special effects, etc.

Introduction

Hello everyone! this is your resident artist and author here! my name is Kat/Lime! I hope we can get along and I hope to grow more on Tumblr like I have on Instagram...I don't have very many followers on either BUT I like very different things and I hope we can find a connection and possibly fan over art and other things?

My name is Sol and I'm a poison type specialist. I used to be a trainer; I have all my certifications, blah blah blah. I work for a non-profit cleaning up routes and distributing those free items your twelve year old picks up while catching Zigzagoons. It's a very wholesome job. I also do poison "pest" control on the side to make ends meet; moving Beedrill nests away from kiddie parks and relocating Trubbish to the local dump and wrangling Ekans, all that shit.

My only Pokemon currently is Queef (he goes by Fart because my brother refuses to call him Queef but his name is Queef damnit he makes the exact sound), a classic Grimer I rescued from a clean up job. Mostly I just rehabilitate or foster, but Queef is here full-time.

hi. i know this blog isnt for something like this but, do you have tips or advice or messages for me? my mom is sending me out of the house this july after i graduate grade 12. i need a job, a place to stay, and a university for college. kindly please help me. im not asking for money.

This is a blog where we talk about a lot. So you came to the right place! I can only give my advice from my own life that may be starkly different from yours but that’s what I have.

If I knew my mom was kicking me out in a few months, id be looking for jobs now, because you need to start saving up money. I’d also be reaching out to any close friends or people to see about a place to stay while you figure it out. You may consider talking to a school counselor and seeing if they can help you figure it out. Worse case scenario, try to find a place for runaways or other teens in hard situations or a womans shelter. Try your best to avoid any general homeless shelters that are coed. I’ve heard from a lot of different homeless women at different times.

Some jobs give you a place to live. Look into nanny jobs, work trade jobs (like on farms etc), there are also seasonal jobs, such as going to work in Alaska during their summer tourist season. Summer camps too! It’s short term but you can get your bearings and maybe you meet people and open up and they help you get somewhere else. Maybe this is the start to a wonderful adventure in your life. It can feel overwhelming when you have a lot to do, so I try to break it down, make a list so I don’t forget anything and then just go through the list and cross stuff off.

Well college, you have to get in which means applying and id say try to base it on price, however I do think if you are kinda unsure a gap year could be beneficial while you figure it out. Anyway though, usually in state is cheapest but you may compare costs in other states and move somewhere where it’s cheaper. Florida is pretty affordable college wise. Have no idea where you live but some states have free community college.

Idk your situation or family. And I’m sorry they maybe aren’t that supportive (from what it sounds like) but this is the opportunity to become so self reliant and independent and that’s an important skill in life! I moved far the fuck away on my own at 18 and I think it’s one of the best decisions I ever made. Radically having only yourself to rely on can set a strong foundation in life where you learn how to figure things out for yourself, because you have to. You only have yourself. Let that be freeing and exciting as much as possible. Best of luck! Hope this helps.

if you feel like it, pls tell me about your crafting journey? first craft fixation? self-taught, learn from family/friends, videos, classes? subsequent enthusiasms? favorites? proud accomplishments? regrets, if any? stuff you crave trying in the future?

I come from a family, namely my mother's side, of artists and crafters, so keep that in mind. Painters, sculptors, wood workers, potters, quilters, all sorts. As such, all art was actively encouraged.

The first crafty thing I can remember was going to ceramics class with my mom. We would pick out statues we like, paint them with glaze and then have them fired again, or paint them with acrylic paint and take them home. I remember making vases and pots out of play-doh, building cities and towers with Lego blocks, paper mache masks with newspaper and balloons.

When I was nine (so in 1992) friendship bracelets suddenly became VERY popular. I saw a girl in class making them, so she showed me how. My mom saw.mw going through her yarn so I could make my own bracelets, so off to the craft store we went. She bought me 1/4" ribbon, cheap yarn, and a boom of patterns. Hyperfixation launched! A couple years later, while visiting my grandparents, my grandma gave me a couple books of macrame patterns. Hyperfixation evolved! I was using ribbon to make these until I discovered hemp when I was 14 years old. I became very picky about my materials when I was 16, and used the crappy hemp for practice or outdoor items. In my 20s, I started vendoring and doing art trades pretty regularly. That's also when I was introduced to cotton cord that looks and behaves like high quality hemp cord, but is super soft. I was nearly 30 when I learned better methods for creating clasps that don't look like a hot mess. A few people asked how I crochet jewelry because that's apparently what it looked like.

I stopped making jewelry in my 30s due to thr loss of a ligament in my right wrist, chronic pain, and burnout. The last time I tried making jewelry was in 2021, and it was like pulling teeth from a rabid tiger. I have since sold all my supplies, patterns, books, tools, and am very happy about it.

In my early 20s, when I was a uninstudent studying to be an art teacher, I took a watercolor class and Fell. In. Love. OMG I looooooooooooove watercolor painting. Unfortunately, all my paint solidified in their tubes years ago, and have since been tossed. My style is very...flow, dreamscape abstract, and big. I dunnonhow best else to describe it. You can purchase prints and other stuff eith my work though! I'm especially proud of thr two paintings at the top of my page here:

Landscapes and extreme closeups are my preference. Georgia O'Keefe is a major influence on my painting style. I miss painting, but good paint is expensive. I have what I like on my wishlist, so feel free to buy it for me.

Folks familiar with my quilts may see how much my previous work has played a role in my style. My family has mentioned more than once they can see macrame and watercolor in my quilts with how I use color and arrange blocks.

I'm semi-self taught. My mom didn't teach me how to quilt. I remember watching her, so applied that, what I learned in videos, and I regularly ask her for input. She's a terrible teacher and has little patience, plus we live nearly 3000 miles apart. I helped handquilt a lot of her quilts when I was growing up, so that part I had down.

I took classes for painting and drawing when I was hs and uni. I used to draw a lot, namely portraits and cityscapes, bit now I can barely hold a pencil for more than a couple minutes before my hand just...can't. Ligament removal has that effect. I can paint without issue though! The straight lines combined with the flow of light and color is so pleasing to me. It's like moss on a brick wall with powerlines casting shades with the colors of the sunset reflecting off windows and onto the surface of puddles. Visual poetry. I love that shit.

I dabble in photography, and will never claim to be a professional. Here's a picture I took in 2016, and it is by and far the best photograph I have ever taken.

I was in flip flops and went running outside when my husband hollered about the sunset. Grabbed my camera and ran in flip flops, hit a dip in thr sidewalk, and got a case of road rash on my right leg. Bleeding and in pain, I took that picture, and then cleaned tf outta the wound. I had a bandaid over it for a week, but I'm allergic to the adhesive and ended up with a scar from the bandaid. That thing didn't fade for five years! Anyway...

My hope is to learn how to make my own clothes. I love the super wide leg pants I wore in the 90s through 2003. Legs wide enough to fit a body. I can find them anymore, and hate denim, so I wanna make then using cotton. Namely Hawaiian floral prints. Big, bold, loud. Fuck, yes! I need to take a class or two though. I'm the sort that needs their hand held for the first few lessons, but once I understand it...well, y'all have see my work. I also intend to learn applique and thread painting over the next couple years. My ultimate goal is to create a series of mini quilts with portraits of all the Dragon Age companions, foundation paper piecing patterns with symbols from the skill/talent trees in all three DA games, a Dune quilt (I'm a huge fan of the book series, love the mini series, the original film is a lesson in How to Fail, give the recent first film 7/10 stats, and can't see part two until it's on disc because epilepsy is a bitch), paint the bedroom to look like a forest with the ceiling looking like the arm of the milky way and tree branches, and make my own wardrobe packed with prints and colors.

I do work Monday- Friday from 7:30 to 3:30 but I do have breaks however I am not available Monday evenings or Saturday Mornings but any thing other than that I’m free and I will let you know if I am not.
