This would actually be a really cool rewrite and a really cool way to fully flesh out the story while also giving it an interesting end. I like the change in Yhwach's motivation, the deal he made with Yamamoto. It makes it more compelling and also kinda makes Ichigo's powers less Gary Sue-esque, I guess. Him having a part of Hogyoku, a part of the Soul King within him, thus stabalizing his soul when he was a child because I'm pretty they said somewhere that he should've been torn in the womb for being a hybrid mess of Shinigami-Hollow-Quincy-Human. His powers kind of being sealed so he could a human was Kisuke's wish for Hogyoku so it did that but over time, Ichigo grew stronger and more aware of spirits.

Rukia and the Hogyoku Aizen planted inside her kickstarting his powers makes their whole friendship way more awesome as well because they're actually connected in a spiritual way. It makes Aizen and Ichigo's final fight more impactful-- the two halves of the Hogyoku fighting

Ichigo sealing his own powers away after Aizen is gones but slowly getting them back. Ginjo hearing about him and his powers and becoming interested. He wants to steal the Hogyoku in Ichigo but ends up only stealing a portion of it. Ichigo, believing that he had now lost his powers indirectly sealed them once more and Rukia comes back to kickstart it once more because even if the half of the hogyoku that had been in her is gone, some of it's reiatsu lingered and that came through in their connection along with all the other captains reiatsu

Ichigo gets his powers back and blah blah blah but rather than Ginjo training Ichigo and all that shit, it's more of Orihime and Chad's arc where he only joined because he was unwilling to leave them to this weird shady guy that wouldn't leave him the fuck alone

The whole thing about the zero squad and Yhwach using Ichigo to find where them and the Soul King were hidden is a really cool idea as well

Having the Soul King actually have a consciousness rather than being sealed away in an orb and a mutilated body kinda sounds like a cool idea too. Him making the conditions of the SS better (especially for RUKONGAI, yes I'm fucking bitter about that)

I'd be content with that sort of ending but if you wanna include the hell arc you can still do all the same shit as canon cause I'm pretty sure it was stated in one of the light novels that the Soul King didn't do anything to Hell beyond closing the gates

But in comes Kazui the even weirder hybrid. Who apparently sends innocent souls to hell behind his parents back??

But whatever. Yk those creepy hollows from hell that we saw in the No Breathes From Hell one shot? Yeah, I want Orihime's mom to have been attacked by one of those guys and that's how she became a fullbring. Yes, I'm doing that because my girl deserves actual screen time and some explaination on how exactly she became a fullbring just from proximity to Ichigo's reiatsu. If that was true, Tatsuki, Mizuiro, and Keigo should've gotten powers as well.

Anyways so some weird soul/genetic bullshit happened and Kazui, rather than having similar hollow powers to his dad, is a Shinigami-Hell Hollow-Quincy-Human (Fullbring I guess??) hybrid.

That's why he can open the gates of hell the way he did.

Also him taking a part of the Hogyoku from Ichigo in order for his soul to be stabalized

(Wow, the Kurosaki line is so fucked up when you think about it. If Kazui and Ichika are a thing like Kubo was hinting at, the soul situation of their offspring would be so fucking weird)

Anyways back to what I was saying, whoever the antogonist of the Hell arc is probably manipulating the kid and teaching him some fucked up shit and that's why his parents seem to have no clue

I'm pretty sure Hell is said to be an actual entity so maybe it's using Kazui in order to upset the balance because he's sending souls to hell right? Idk why it would do that but it'll be like an army and all the dead captains, arrancar and quincy.... yikes, they'll be facing the original gotei and all the other dead captains and Kenpachis

Since Yhwach is kinda gone in this rewrite you wouldn't have Kazui absorbing/destroying/what ever he did to Yhwach's soul wouldn't happen

Mother and Son (Final Rose x Bleach)

Masaki’s eyes widened as the Hollow closed in and her Quincy powers stuttered and failed to activate.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ichigo. She had to protect him! It didn’t matter if her Quincy powers weren’t working. He was her son. If she had to give her life then -

SQUELCH.

The Hollow crashed to the ground, split cleanly in two. There was another whistling sound and the halves became quarters. And still the Hollow tried to rise only to be crushed into pulp by an overwhelming force from above that cracked the pavement and sent the rain flying outward.

Masaki stumbled to a stop beside Ichigo and moved in front of him.

“Who’s there?” she shouted. “Who did that?”

A figure emerged from amidst the carnage. Her eyes narrowed. What... what was she looking at?

Her spiritual senses were telling her that the person in front of her was a normal human woman, but that was impossible. A normal human could never have done what she’d just seen, which meant that this person had the ability to camouflage their spiritual power perfectly.

“Hello there.” The woman had sapphire eyes and dark, spiky hair. “You’re not injured, are you? I wasn’t going to intervene, but then your powers just... stopped working.” The woman smiled, and her teeth were just a bit too long and a bit too sharp to be human. “And don’t worry. I’m not with this loser.” The woman raised her hand, and the soul and pulped, broken remains of the Hollow flowed into a sphere of spiritual power and gore that the woman devoured with obvious relish. “Hmm... not too bad. It takes a bit like beef.”

“What... what are you?” Masaki whispered.

“You know,” the woman said. “I’ve always had a soft spot for kids... and their parents. Whatever I am, you don’t have to worry about me going after you or your family unless you go after me first.” She tilted her head to one side. “Are your powers still not working?”

Masaki tried to use her powers again, but they were gone... like there was a hole in her soul. She needed to talk to her husband and Ryuken about this, not to mention Urahara. Something was very, very wrong. “No.”

“Hmm... you’re a Quincy, right?” The woman walked closer, and Masaki took a reflexive step back, careful to keep Ichigo sheltered behind her. Her son was clinging onto her tightly, but she did her best to soothe his concerns, running one hand through his hair. “Relax. I already said you don’t have anything to fear from me.” She grinned. “Would it help if I promised?”

“Uh...”

“Heh. Probably not.” The woman chuckled. “Would it help if I said that if I wanted you and the rest of the city dead, you all would be?”

“No!” Masaki cried.

“Yeah. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that.” The woman laughed. “I’m sorry. It’s the company I keep. Anyway, why don’t I walk you and your kid home. Without your powers you’re a sitting duck for Hollows, but you’re exactly the kind of tasty morsel they’ll go after.”

“...”

“Oh, fine.” The woman reached into empty space and then tossed a sword to Masaki. “If you’re so worried, you can have that.”

Masaki caught the sword. “What is this?”

“It’s a little something I put together as a... test. That sword is made of materials that are designed to damage spiritual beings like Hollows and Soul Reapers. It can also absorb ambient spiritual power to fuel other functions like throwing energy blasts.” The woman snickered. “But don’t go pointing it at a Vasto Lorde or something. That wouldn’t end well.”

“Why would you give me this?”

“Because it’s a trinket to me, and I’ve already come up with better weapons. But right now, you need it.” The woman shrugged. “And that kid of yours is wearing the right sort of merchandise. How could I let a Gary fan lose their mother?”

“Gary?” Masaki stared. Gary was the new cartoon that had come out. It was popular with all the kids, and Ichigo had won a hat as a prize in a raffle at the local shopping mall the other day. It was a garish orange, but he seemed to like it. “That’s...” She sighed. “You know what? Fine. If you want to walk us home, be my guest. If you were going to hurt us, you probably would have by now.” She paused. “And what should I call you?”

“Call me...” The woman paused dramatically. “Claw.”

Author’s Notes

Diana was planning on eating Grand Fisher because she doesn’t like him, but she thought she’d let Masaki deal with him since it would give her an opportunity to see another Quincy in action. When her powers failed, she decided to intervene since, as Diana says, she’s got a soft spot for kids and their parents.

At this point in the timeline, Diana has already eaten enough people to understand how to perfectly camouflage her spiritual pressure, which what allows her to go to the Human World and do all sorts of things... like spread Gary to another world.

You’ll have to excuse me, I’m kinda old

And I’ve been through this song and dance before.

I don’t want you to tell me about how obviously the symbolism, song lyrics, motifs, or themes of the story allude to the main character being gay/queer.

I want you to tell me if the author said he was queer. I want you to tell me if the publisher categorizes him as queer. I want you to tell me if he has been explicitly advertised as queer. Hell, I want you to show me the mainstream media that has stirred the pot on this, announcing it or broadcasting people who are against it.

You don’t get to live in this fantasy where being a gay main character is an easy thing, and the only worry is “Will They or Won’t They.”

You get to live in the world where if a character is queer, the author isn’t coy about it; its not a freakin’ mystery to be unraveled by analyzing the outro lyrics. Because not only would his editors/producers not want to be blindsided by that, but they need to market accordingly and predict audience responses. Because there will be people who boycott and hate it just because.

You don’t get to insist your ship is endgame by just saying the boys are dressed too cute to actually be straight. You have to insist your ship is endgame by showing actual improvements in actual gay men’s civil rights.

Do you see any evidence that the author is ALLOWED by his producers to write a queer main character? If not... the purpose of a lead female character is to be placed prominently in the advertising of the show, to show a balance and contrast to young girls. You remember those, right? Young girls? Many of whom aren’t yaoi fangirls, so their first priority when picking a show to watch isn’t imagining that all male best friends are secretly lovers.

You don’t get to ask for queerbaiting marketing because talking about actual gay men’s acceptance in society is too hard, so you’d rather pretend the real issue is who gets to hold Izuku’s hand in the opening sequence and not the massive amounts of worldwide homophobia and how it would affect Shonen Jump, Viz Media, Bones Studio, Crunchyroll, Medialink, Animax, and Warner Bros to have a cash cow franchise endorse a gay main character. 

You don’t get to step backwards and ask for scraps.

You ask for real acceptance with a main character who is obviously written and marketed as queer. You don’t ask for your ship to be featured in the opening so that your gif sets look wicked cool.

And with all that being said, of course Bakugou is the most important relationship in Izuku’s story. This is a Shonen Jump anime, the rival is always the most important relationship in the hero’s story. But back in my day, yaoi fangirls didn’t insist that their ships - Grimmjow/Ichigo and Renji/Byakuya? Goku/Vegeta? Yugi Moto/Seto Kaiba? Hiei/Kurama? Ash/Gary or Red/Blue? Tai/Matt? Davis/Ken? - were canon and endgame, and if the authors looked like they were indulging them, they called it queerbaiting because “Shonen Jump would never.” Has something changed? Feel free to show me.

3 Ships: I'll do Pokemon edition! Contestshipping is what I'm known for still, I think just because all my content for it here and my amvs on Youtube is easily accessible. I still love it a lot, but I always drift toward rarepairs as a way to flesh out my favorite characters :') so it went Respectshipping (Ash/Drew) and Arroganceshipping (Drew/Gary) after that lol

1st Ship: hmmm fun fact I guess before Contestshipping (where I learned what shipping was), the first pairing I liked as a kid was probably Ryou/Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew! I had a whole folder on the computer with animated icons and banners and things that I was probably using on pet sites lol (and even then I also liked the idea of Ryou/Zakuro since they were my favorites but was sad they had no content...I have been a rarepair shipper forever)

Last song: This song doesn't even have 50 views on youtube and I think 40 of them are me (it's just nice)

Last movie: Watched Nobody last night. It was good! Fun action movie. That's already my 5th movie for the year. I ended up watching around 75 films in 2022, so hitting 100 this year seems very doable lol

Currently reading: I don't read much but I'm gonna try more this year 😭 finished the American Psycho novel last month though. It sure was an experience. I went in thinking 'ha, how bad can the gore be, it's just a book' but I was very disturbed so! it sure is an experience to read, but I can't recommend it unless you're into that sdfj

It's mega crossover fusion of Hobie leading a team of Spiderpunk Variants,my choices for the mantle giving based on their similarities to Hobie himself.This au was created with the purpose of Hobie appreciation outside of shipping!!

The other Spiderpunks are all black,either mixed or monoracial,regardless of canonicity but i did include mostly canon black characters!

They're completely seperate from Spider Society in affiliation,either completely or by the time of Issue 1 depending on the Spiderpunk in question

Percy is the Team Parent since he is in his books and the kids view him are as their big sibling figure and pseudo-parent and the other adults and him are found siblings except him and Stephanie who're just regular besties.There's no interteam ships except Kat x Nimona,which is instant best friends to lovers

The other ships are Percy/Lex(my s/i and her Gwen Stacy),Katara/Aang,Stephanie/Cass,Ichigo/Orihime,Marceline/Bonnibel and Marshall Lee/Gary,Katniss/Peeta,Ekko/Miel(another s/i of mine)and Rainbow Dash/Fluttershy

The whole team is trans and audhd along with being black-Percy is transfem bigender though,jic her any pronouns swag causes any confusion

The Abadeer Twins provide the most spontaneous music but they all get in on it.None to their level though

They try to help out Kat and Nimona get together but subtly as to not make them feel forced to be together(Hobie loves teasing them though <333)

  "How was your vacation?" I asked while pouring coffee into some mugs.

  "Amazing! Maybe you should join me next time. It's really beautiful out there."

  "I don't know. Skiing isn't really my thing." I replied. "How do you want your coffee?"

  "Creamer and a little sugar, please." Gary answered, and I grabbed the liquid creamer from the fridge. "Even if you don't like skiing, I think you'd like the scenery." He continued while ignoring Grimmjow leaning on the island right next to him.

  The demon was being quiet, but his expression and posture was saying enough on its own. He still wouldn't give it a rest with Gary.

  "I'll think about it." Turning with a mug in each hand, I placed one in front of Grimmjow, and the other in front of Gary. "So what's with the necklace? I've never seen it before."

  "Oh, it's a gift from Heather before I went on vacation." Gary looked down while grabbing the silver pendant on his necklace. "It's Saint Christopher, patron of safe travel. Did you know Heather is Catholic?"

  "Remind me who Heather is again." I grabbed my coffee and leaned on the island across from the men.

  "The old lady that yelled at us when we had Yui's birthday party at my house."

  "Oh, her. Ears like a bat and some serious lung capacity." I chuckled while remembering Gary's neighbor that would always complain about the noise whenever we hung out at Gary's house.

  "That's her."

  "So why even wear it?" I asked before taking a drink from my coffee. Gary shrugged while grabbing the mug in front of him.

  "A whim, I guess. I liked the idea of protected travels." Gary said, and Grimmjow scoffed while rolling his eyes. "What's so funny?" He looked at the demon next to him.

  "You think a martyr could do anything for you? He's just some dead guy."

  "He's not just some dead guy. He's an important religious figure."

  "Oh, no. Don't start preaching now." Grimmjow grumbled while bringing his mug to his lips.

  "I'm not Christian. I just know how to respect other people's religions."

  "Yeah, well, Christianity sure as shit doesn't know how to respect other people's religions, so I don't know why you even bother."

  "Is there anything you don't complain about or make fun of?" Gary sighed, and Grimmjow made a face while shrugging.

  "Wynter's cooking is pretty damn good. Won't complain about that." He popped off, and I snorted.

  "Thanks for the compliment, grouch."

  "Seriously, though. Why don't you think someone's symbol of faith can be helpful?"

  "I didn't say a symbol of faith couldn't be helpful. Saw a guy get stabbed with a crucifix before." Grimmjow said nonchalantly as Gary and I just looked at him.

  "How is that helpful?"

  "If someone tries to mug you or whatever, you can stab 'em with a crucifix since humans are so fragile. So, there. Helpful."

  "....You're being serious."

  "What? I bet someone could even choke you out with that necklace. Helpful to them." Grimmjow waved his hand.

  "Okay, back it up a few steps there." I shot the demon a look, and he only smirked before taking another drink of coffee.

  "You know what I meant."

  "Still don't care. And you're just superstitious to think some Saint on a pendant could protect you from anything." Grimmjow grabbed Gary's necklace to flip it over and get a look at it. "It's just a piece of metal with a long-dead man's name on it."

  My brows knit together as I watched the demon mess with Gary's necklace. He was touching it with no signs of pain or repulsion.

  So he was telling the truth about it not working.

  I guess, in a way, it made sense that it wouldn't. The pendant was for a Saint, not a divine being. And, as he had explained before, it was the gods behind the religions that could hurt him, not the symbols themselves.

  "Why are you even still here?" Gary gave Grimmjow a look while taking back his necklace.

  "Why are you?" The demon retorted, and Gary rolled his eyes.

  "Grow up, would you?"

  "I'm older than you."

  "You don't act like it."

  "Says you."

  "Do you two need a timeout?" I questioned.

  "No. I'll behave." Gary replied, and Grimmjow just rolled his eyes again. "Hey, why don't we have a movie night tomorrow? It's been a while."

  "Sorry, I've already got plans tomorrow."

  "Doing what?"

  "Work stuff. I have to go into the office for it." The lie came so easily, so I doubted Gary would catch on to it not being the truth.

  "Mm. Another time, then."

  "Why don't you tell me more about your trip for now?"

  "Yes, do tell." Grimmjow had a tone that said he wasn't actually interested in the slightest. And yet he didn't even attempt to leave.

  "Okay, so, since I don't know how long I'll be, do you think you can take care of Dagur?" I questioned while grabbing my coat. "You don't have to do much, just let him outside once in a while." Going down the stairs, I could hear Grimmjow following me.

  "I'm not incapable of taking care of a damn dog."

  "Just making sure. And don't share food with him." I bent over while grabbing my shoes to pull them on. "Don't answer the door to anyone, either."

  "I know the drill." I could easily assume Grimmjow was rolling his eyes based on his tone.

  "Good." Standing back up, I was about to pick up my keys when Grimmjow grabbed me from behind. His arms wrapped around my waist as he pulled me flush against his chest. His nose brushed over the back of my neck as I could feel him sniffing. "What are you doing?"

  Rather than answer, Grimmjow began to rub his cheek against my neck. His grip on me loosened before he made me turn around and was now rubbing his cheek against mine.

  "What the fuck are you doing?"

  "Scenting you." He replied, and my eyebrows rose as he held me closer.

  "Excuse me?"

  "I'm getting my scent on you more." Grimmjow buried his face in the side of my neck now.

  "Why?"

  "You're mine. I'm making that clear."

  "Yeah, 'cause exorcists can absolutely smell you on me." I made a face while enduring the demon's weird behavior.

  "It's not for them." Grimmjow's breath was hot against my skin before his tongue lapped over the pulse point beneath my jaw.

  "Okay, now I know you're bullshitting me." I tried to push the demon away, but he didn't budge and simply switched to the other side.

  "Not this time, Little Rabbit."

  "Well, are you almost done then? I've got somewhere to be."

  "Just give me a second, damn. It's not like you don't like it." He said before licking the side of my neck.

  "What could possibly make you think I like this?" I asked while making a face. Grimmjow's hands dropped to my hips to hold me still as he rubbed his body against me. His pelvis was grinding against mine, and I felt the heat rise in my ears.

  "I can smell it."

  "Oh, fuck off!" I pried myself out of his arms as he was laughing. Getting my keys, Grimmjow grabbed the collar of my coat to yank me back from the door. "What now?" I had an agitated tone, and the demon wasn't bothered by it.

  "Missed a spot." He bent down to quickly lick the corner of my mouth and cheek.

  "Ugh!" I swatted his hands away from me and went out the door as his laughter followed me.

  "Thanks for coming. It's this way." Ichigo gestured with his arm before leading the way through the building. I felt uncomfortable with how many of  the people we passed were staring at me. Holding my sword closer, I followed Ichigo through the large hallway.

  "So this is painless, right?"

  "Yes. All you have to do is channel your spiritual energy through the Machnamh Anam." Ichigo looked over his shoulder at me while waving his hand. "The room itself is made from a stone that blocks spiritual energy, so you won't have to worry about demons sensing you when you do it. I'll also be there to help and monitor."

  "Just you?"

  "Just me." He nodded. "And I'm sorry about all of the staring. They know what you look like now, so they know you're 'Pantera's Keeper'." Ichigo added in a quieter tone.

  "I figured. No one teach them staring is rude, though?" I muttered, and Ichigo laughed.

  "I guess not. Hey, did I ever tell you how some of the exorcists don't believe my reports about you?"

  "You didn't. What don't they believe?" I questioned while following the taller man as he turned left at the corner of the hallway.

  "Most of it. What you've accomplished with Pantera despite being a novice exorcist- especially one not trained by the Society- and all while barely able to use magick."

  "And yet, here I am. Also, while I'm here, I was wondering...." I trailed off, and Ichigo looked at me.

  "Wondering what?"

  "Is there, like, an exorcist library I can check books out of or something?"

  "There is. Why?"

  "Exorcism spells. The one thing Pantera won't teach me, but I still need to know." I raised a finger, and Ichigo nodded.

  "Well, we do have spellbooks available to check out. But, uh," He rubbed the back of his neck as his expression seemed a bit pinched. "I don't think you should do those on your own. I think it'd be better if you had an actual teacher."

  "You're really persistent, aren't you?"

  "I've been called stubborn before, yeah." He chuckled before turning toward a heavy-looking door. "There's a few people I can personally recommend to help you that I know won't try to start shit." Ichigo grabbed the handle on the door before yanking it open.

  The stone door loudly scraped across the hard floor. The room on the other side was dark, and Ichigo went in first while digging in his pocket. I could hear metallic flicking before he continued to talk.

  "There's Orihime- She's actually encountered Pantera before as well. Chad- He's an Infected, so he's used to working in close quarters with demons." Ichigo said as a lighter in his hand lit up his face. He then reached up and held the flame close to what I could now see was a torch.

  "Infected?" My brows furrowed, and brown eyes looked my way before looking back at the torch.

  "Humans born with high spiritual energy that have been infected by a demon. It's what they call people that aren't possessed or halfbreeds."

  "So they're literally infected."

  "Yes." Ichigo moved to the next torch, and I finally entered the room. "It's something you're at risk of becoming with how your sword was constructed. You can either become an Infected like Chad and can control the demonic energy, or you can become an Infected lost to madness that has to be....dealt with."

  "Right."

  "Anyhow," Ichigo cleared his throat while lighting another torch. "there's also Yoruichi- she helped train me, so I personally know she's an 'effective' teacher."

  "Do all of them have experience with Pantera, or is it just Orihime."

  "Directly, just Orihime." He then went back to the door to pull it shut. The orange glow in the room lit up a large crystal in the center that was sitting on a red carpet. The walls, floor, and even ceiling were all made of dark, stone bricks.

  "You guys couldn't get electricity in here like the rest of the building?"

  "The stones are too thick to put in wiring. We also can't risk gaps or holes that would cause a leak."

  "Makes sense. And, what, this hunk of rock scores my spiritual energy?" I asked while wandering closer to the crystal that stood taller than me. There were various points and jagged edges, and the faceted surface reflected the firelight.

  "In a way. It will glow the color of your soul and create a visual representation of it."

  "....How does it work?" I looked at Ichigo as he walked toward the center of the room.

  "It absorbs the spiritual energy you put into it and refracts it. It has magickal properties that influence the refraction, though." He explained while slowly placing his hand on the crystal.

  The Machnamh Anam darkened, turning black with a red hue. The hair on the back of my neck stood on end, and the air began to feel thicker. Something started forming over the crystal- something massive and shaped somewhat like a white skull with red markings.

  "The more spiritual energy you put into it, the clearer the image becomes." Ichigo stated before the see-through skull looked more and more like a solid object.

  "That's him, isn't it? You're Arrancar pal?"

  "Yup."

  "Does it bother you that he's your soul's representation?"

  "It did at first." Ichigo said as he took his hand off the crystal. "Your turn." He smiled and waved his hand.

  "Is it weird to be nervous?"

  "Not at all. Many people get intimidated about seeing how the Machnamh Anam visualizes their soul."

  "What sort of things does it usually show?"

  "It's always unique to the individual. Some people get objects, some get animals, some get only shapes."

  "I see. That certainly does make me more curious." I muttered while reaching out my hand. My fingers went over the smooth crystal as they spread out and my palm flattened. Ichigo crossed his arms while looking at the Machnamh Anam with a firm expression.

  It was possible he wanted to see what would happen more than I did.

  With one hand holding my sword and the other on the crystal, I began to build up spiritual energy in my palm. The Machnamh Anam slightly changed color, and Ichigo spoke up.

  "You need to use more spiritual energy than that." I nodded, and the crystal began to glow brighter. It was turning a pale blue, almost white. The crystal lit up the room, and something began to form where Ichigo's Arrancar face had.

  It looked like smoke pulling itself together into something with more substance. Remembering how Ichigo mentioned the image would become clearer when more spiritual energy was used, I made the crystal glow even brighter.

  I began to make out something akin to branches and fingers. I was so focused on what shape was forming as my brows knit together. It wasn't an object nor an animal, it wasn't a face like Ichigo's, but it was something. Multiple humanoid arms, inhuman legs, two eyes with empty eye sockets above them-

  Something crashed into me from the side and slammed me down against the hard floor. I grunted through grit teeth from the impact, and the glowing crystal went dark, leaving only the torches to give me enough light to see. Hands with an iron grip held me down as I heard growling.

  My heart was pounding when I looked into burning, golden eyes in pools of black. Glistening fangs dripping with saliva were bared, and I knew coming in here with only Ichigo had been a mistake.

  He could control the demon inside when it came to my blood, but me actually using spiritual energy had set him off.

  It was no longer Ichigo in the room with me, and his skin was getting paler and paler as red markings began to appear. The bell on my sword jingled as I pulled it from the sheath and swung the blade.

  The demon leapt back, and his growls sounded vicious as I scrambled to my feet. He was staying low and close to the ground, looking ready to pounce at any second.

  How thick were these walls? Could I call for help and be heard? I didn't want to hurt Ichigo, but he was no longer in control, and his Arrancar was looking hungry. What all had Grimmjow told me about this demon?

  He flew across the room with claws outstretched, and I barely had the time to block. The impact was heavy enough to nearly knock me back. He swung his claws at me again, and sparks flew when they crashed against my sword.

  He wasn't holding back like Grimmjow would and was coming at me with full force, and I could barely keep my hold on my katana. It was all happening so fast that I didn't have a second to think. I could only react, blocking and stumbling around the room as the demon didn't back down.

  I slammed my hand against the Machnamh Anam and shot a burst of spiritual energy through it while closing my eyes. The demon screeched from the bright light blinding him, and lifted my hand from the crystal before my blade hissed through the air. I felt an impact and heard a distorted scream.

  Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.

  My sword was stuck in the crystal now, and the demon was bleeding. He'd managed to avoid my attack for the most part, but not entirely. And he roared with blood on his hands as I was tugging on my sword to get it out of the crystal.

  I was thrown against the wall, and my vision blurred for a few seconds from how hard my head hit the wall. I was in survival mode and kept fighting, kicking and punching even though it felt as if I was hitting brick.

  The demon pinned my wrists against the wall, and a thick tail coiled around my legs to keep me from kicking. I screamed at the top of my lungs for help while squirming.

  "No one can hear you in here." The demon spoke and his voice sounded doubled and mixed with Ichigo's. "Oh, I fuckin' knew I recognized that scent." His lips curled up into an evil grin as he leaned down to bring his face closer. "What was your name again? A weather? A season?"

  He locked eyes with me, and I clenched my jaw.

  "Rain?" He cocked his head to the side. "No, that doesn't sound right." He leaned in close enough that I could feel his breath on my face. "You're definitely Pantera's. I can smell that bastard all over you." His tail and hands tightened their grip, but I didn't flinch from the pain.

  "I'm warning you now, let me go, or I'll burn your fucking face off."

  "Feisty." He cooed as two bumps began to swell on the sides of his head. Horns. He was growing horns now.

  "I'm not joking-" I reared back until I hit the wall when he leaned closer. The demon breathed in deep through his nose before his face dropped toward my neck.

  "He scented you." He began to laugh, and I didn't know why. "Pantera really wants you all to himself. I wish I could see his face when he realizes your soul is gone." The demon looked me in the eye again as his tongue ran over his fangs. "I'm not gonna leave any part of you behind."

  I headbutted the demon right in the nose, and his head flew back. However, his grip on me didn't loosen in the slightest.

  "Aren't you adorable." His tone was flat before his head swung back and hit me. My vision went white with pain as I fell to the ground and held my face. Blood poured from my nose as the demon stood over me. "Hm. I guess you're sturdier than I thought."

  The blood wouldn't stop dripping from between my fingers as I bared my teeth against the pain. My eyes were pricking with tears from such a sensitive spot being hit so harshly.

  "Autumn." His fingers snapped, but then his tongue clicked. "No, that wasn't it either. You see, it's so hard to get information clearly when that twerp is holding me back." He wrapped a hand around my ankle and yanked me closer. The demon reached out to grab my arm to make me roll over, but I swung my fist instead.

  I built up spiritual energy in my hand, and my bloody knuckles hit one of the demon's horns. He roared as his horn flew off and impaled itself into one of the stone bricks on the wall.

  Blood gushed from the stump on the side of his head, and as he looked at the blood on his hands, his eyes widened. The demon touched his broken horn again, seemingly in disbelief over it being broken. He was looking less and less like Ichigo with the demon taking over and blood now also covering his features.

  His demeanor changed as he stared at the blood all over his hand. He stood up straight as his lips fell into a flat line. As he turned to look at me, I scrambled to grab my katana's sheath.

  With my sword stuck in the crystal, wielding the sheath was better than nothing. The demon stalked closer as his golden eyes glowed in the dim lighting.

  "I've never met someone that smells so terrified but still fights so hard. You're so easy to underestimate." He spoke low, and his split voice still sounded daunting as his broken horn was slowly growing back. "What else are you hiding?"

  "Ichigo, if you can hear me in there, I could use some help." I said while tightening my grip on the sheath.

  "Oh, he can hear you. And he's going to watch me devour you." The demon stepped closer and never took his eyes off me. However, he was suddenly gone from view, and I panicked.

  I swung the sheath while spinning around. There was a vicious snarl when I hit the demon across his face, but not before his claws dug into my side. Blood soaked my shirt, and I gripped the sheath so tightly that my knuckles were turning white.

  The demon seemingly vanished again, and I turned with my back toward the wall. It was dead silent other than the burning torches crackling, but I knew the demon was still in here. There was nowhere else for him to go.

  Glancing at the torch closest to me, I quickly grabbed it from the wall. Taking in a deep breath through my nose, I tried to focus on feeling where the demon was. I'd go for the door if I knew the demon wouldn't strike as soon as I went to open it.

  He was on the ceiling.

  What the fuck was I going to do? I still could barely use magick, my sword was stuck, and this demon was a fucking Arrancar strong enough to fight an Espada. Any way I looked at it, I was screwed.

  Wait. What if I dematerialized my sword? But was it worth the risk? It was either I get eaten alive or be driven mad by Grimmjow's essence in the katana. Could I even figure out how to dematerialize it in such a moment?

  No, the risk was too high. I needed to figure something else out.

  What would Grimmjow bitch about me doing wrong in this situation?

  My stance. I was too tense. I also didn't have a real weapon, so I'd need to make one effective against a demon. Thank fuck Grimmjow had at least taught me how to do that.

  Building up spiritual energy in my palms, I pushed it through the sheath and torch. The fire grew and began to change color. I hadn't expected the fire to react in such a way, but at least I knew now it could be influenced by spiritual energy.

  Did that mean what I think it meant?

  The demon moved, however, he wasn't coming down from the ceiling. A blast of red energy shot down, and I dove out of the way. Rolling into a crouch, I hissed from the pain. I had to dodge another blast, and the demon was behind me before I knew it.

  Twisting around, I swung the torch. The demon didn't even bother to dodge it while reaching for me. Claws ripped through my shirt sleeve just as the demon recoiled while screaming as the discolored fire burned his face.

  I could hardly believe that actually worked.

  "What did you just do?!" His voice was dripping with venom as he lowered his hands from his face. Half of it looked to be melting off as a white substance dripped from his chin to the floor, and his eyes were burning with rage.

  Rather than answer, I took a fighting stance with the torch and sheath in each hand. I hurt so badly, I didn't know how much blood I'd lost by now, my nose was swollen, and tasting my own blood was nauseating. At this rate, there was no doubt I'd lose.

  Even if I was managing to hit the demon each time he clawed at me, he could heal his wound in a way I couldn't.

  "Come on, Ichigo! I'm going to die here if you can't stop him!"

  "Damn right, you're going to die." The demon lunged, and I went to hit him with the torch again. This time, however, he dodged. Half of his face was still melting, and the stench of burnt flesh made me want to vomit.

  I blocked his claws with my sheath, but only barely. The demon snatched the sheath from me before jumping back to avoid the torch. He tossed the sheath to the side, and I held the torch with both hands. My breath was quick as my palms were sweating.

  'Think. Just fucking think. I had to have read something that could help me now. What about Grimmjow? What all has he told me about fighting stronger demons?'

  "Sangre a sangre. Runa a runa. A través de estos enlaces dorados. Canaliza la ira del Cielo, divino." Ichigo's voice came clearly through the demon's mouth, and golden lines began to light up on the floor beneath his feet.

  I backpedaled to get out of the way as the demon roared.

  "No!" He moved toward me again until large, golden chains shot out from the runes in the magick circle and coiled around his body. "I'm gonna rip your throat out! I'll make you regret being born! I'll fuckin' tear you to shreds, you fucking vermin!" The demon struggled against the chains pulling him down toward the floor.

  He roared again when chains wrapped around his horns and yanked his head downward until his face slammed against the floor. His fangs were flashing as he snarled and growled, and his claws left marks in the stone floor as he tried to get up to no avail. The demon's voice hurt my ears as his body twisted in the glowing, golden chains.

  His demonic features began to recede the tighter the chains got. And then he stopped moving. He stopped screaming profanities and threats, and the silence felt heavy.

  The chains and magick circle faded, but I didn't relax just yet. The seconds that passed were like an eternity. I knew he wasn't dead- I could see him breathing.

  He finally began to move and groaned while pushing himself to his hands and knees. He looked like Ichigo again with his face whole. But was it actually Ichigo in control now?

  "....I'm so sorry." His words were low as he didn't even look at me. "I'm so sorry." He repeated.

  "I'm going home."

  "Wynter-"

  "I'm. Going. Home."

  Turning the key in the lock, I pushed open the front door. Dagur was already waiting on the other side with his tail wildly wagging. Grimmjow was also there with his hands on his hips.

  "What the fuck took you so long-" He cut himself off as I shut the door behind me. His eyes widened while looking me over, and his brows furrowed even more. "What did that fucker do?!" Grimmjow's voice rumbled as his lip curled up in a snarl.

  He got closer to look at my wounds, and I grabbed him to pull him in. The demon tensed as I rested my forehead against his chest. My hands clutched the back of his shirt while I closed my eyes and let out a deep breath.

  Grimmjow relaxed, and I felt one of his hands on the back of my head. His touch was gentle, but even so, my head was still throbbing from when it hit the stone wall.

  "Let's get you cleaned up, Little Rabbit." His soft tone was almost unnerving given who it was coming from. It only added to the turmoil I was feeling.

  And I couldn't get the image of that demon's half-burnt face out of my mind. Nor what the Machnamh Anam had shown me.

  "Now do you feel like telling me what happened?" Grimmjow asked as I was pulling a clean shirt over my head. I had showered and been healed, but I still felt so exhausted.

  "I think you already have an idea."

  "An idea, yeah. But I want to know why. I saw how he didn't react at all to your blood last time, so what set him off?"

  "I used the Machnamh Anam. You have to use spiritual energy to get it to work. I think I used more than he was capable of handling." Turning around, I went to crawl into bed. Grabbing one of the pillows, I held it to my chest while curling up around it. "Bad news: That demon pretty much handed my ass to me. Good news: My spiritual energy is strong enough to do damage."

  "....Really?"

  "I broke one of his horns with my bare fist and melted half of his face."

  "How'd you melt his face?" Grimmjow climbed onto the bed behind me.

  "Somehow mixed my spiritual energy with the fire of a torch. I didn't even know that was possible."

  "A lot of things are possible."

  "I need to learn actual magick."

  "I know." He replied while laying down behind me.

  "Why have you held off on it?"

  "Because it's dangerous. If your body isn't strong enough to handle it, it will kill you. I can't have a part in your death, direct or indirect. So you needed to get stronger to lower the risk." Grimmjow buried his face into my hair while draping an arm over my side. "How'd you get away?"

  "Ichigo managed to cast a binding spell."

  "....What are you going to do about him?"

  "Ichigo?"

  "Yeah."

  "Well, given the fact that his other half tried to eat me alive, I don't think I'm ever going to be alone with him again. Not without knowing his name or magick, at least."

  "I could just kill him." Grimmjow had a nonchalant tone, and I paused while debating whether or not he was joking. Knowing him, he probably wasn't.

  "No."

  "I can."

  "Don't."

  "I'm gonna do it anyways."

  "Grimmjow."
