Hello everyone and hope you’re well. Tonight from the UK I’m joining in with the #monochromesixbookchallenge which I was tagged in by the lovely @always_need_more_books but I know that the fantastic @nicki_mags has also done a post too. I’ve read and can HIGHLY recommend The Five but the rest are on my TBR still. I am hoping to get to The New Wilderness quite soon. Let mr know your thoughts on any of these books or authors as always, especially if you’ve read or fancy reading them. If you think this tag looks fun like I did, consider yourself tagged! Coming tomorrow, my review of Empire Of The Vampire 🧛‍♂️ #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagramchallenge #sixbookcolourchallenge #tbrpile #thenewwilderness #dianecook #thewychelm #tanafrench #thefive #hallierubenhold #asongofstone #iainbanks #thetunnel #ernestosabato #mordew #alexpheby #blackandwhitebooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CVirkr5L8fl/?utm_medium=tumblr

I’m re-reading Whit by Iain Banks, and, well, the relations get a bit complicated. So, after quickly finding out that LibreOffice (or M$ Word) “draw your own family tree” templates just weren’t up to the task, i found the LaTeX package genealogytree.
Here the relations of most main characters. The only one missing is Yolanda, Isis’ maternal grandmother.
While making this i noticed an oddity. According to the e-book version, Isis’s half-brother Zeb(-ediah) wasn’t a blood relative of here at all: “Malcolm Redpath and Matilda Blohm begat a son, Zebediah”. Huh? Malcom Redpath is on there, but as a partner of an aunt (half-aunt?). In the paper version it is “Cristhopher Whit and Matilda Blohm begat a son, Zebediah”, and that makes Zeb Isis’s half brother. See above.
The tree is mostly from a page in chapter 9. “After this it gets complicated.”

First book of the year is what my friend described as, ‘Cider with Rosie as written by Fred West’. Shockingly good though, and I look forward to reading more Iain (M.) Banks. Any recommendations?
Each of us, in our own personal Factory, may believe we have stumbled down one corridor, and that our fate is sealed and certain (dream or nightmare, humdrum or bizarre, good or bad), but a word, a glance, a slip – anything can change that, alter it entirely, and our marble hall becomes a gutter, or our rat-maze a golden path.

'The Algebraist' Is The Last Iain M. Banks Book I Will Ever Read
The Algebraist is the Last Iain M. Banks Book I Will Ever Read #bookreview #IainBanks #IainMBanks #TheAlgebraist
Iain M. Bank’s The Algebraist was published in 2004. I picked up my copy sometime in 2007. Over the years I have picked up The Algebraist to read, but for one reason or another put it back down. I would get to it, I thought. Sadly, in 2013, Iain M. Banks (or Iain Banks for readers of his more mainstream works) passed away from inoperable cancer. I immediately began a reread of his Culture…
