Originally, we planned for ReGrowal to have a fantasy setting, much more in line with other games of the genre. However as the story has progressed it's become a bit of a science-fantasy in most respects, such as the current accessible technology (swords and scrapped tech akin to magic) level versus the ruins left behind (space age tech). Basically, Think She-Ra, Princess of Power. As such, we needed a wider range of items that can be found to provide information to the player(s) to better represent this.

As such, there are currently 6 basic item types. Scrolls, Papers, Books, Pictures, Holo-Scrolls, and PDDAs. Scrolls, Papers, and Books are all ambiguous technology, as in they could be used and createed by literally anyone, regardless of planetary or cultural origin. Pictures and PDDAs are specifically Foundry Corp and IWR tech, but it's still unknown who created Holo-Scrolls.

As a small note, PDDAs cannot be crafted, but depending on the start of your game, you may start out with a personal one, or whichever one you find first will end up becoming your own PDDA which will hold all the information you find on your journeys.
