hey, remember when I thought literally no one was talking about umemiya's backstory's backstory?? yeah, well this guy @loganelfreeces just opened my eyes with the most insane analysis I've ever seen, bc these characters appear in less than two chapters and I'm not really the kind to overanalyze stuff but this made me think more than Im used to and I'm grateful for it.

seriously, if you havent read their post please go, its amazing!! what I'm about to say its practically just a response to what they were saying so I recommend reading it either wya

first off i want to start saying that i cant shake the feeling that umemiya and shitara share the same personality in the sense that they act all friendly and goofy to protect others from unnecessary trouble, like if we're talking about how umemiya acts i can tell he somehow copied or adapted himself to shitara's sense of responsability when it comes to emotional support

then there's that conversation shitara has with the other caretaker about the old furin, and i did get the feeling that shitara was talking about himself in some way, tho i wasnt sure if he had been a furin student, but just some acquaintance to the people there. him being a former student makes sense given that he knows a lot about furin insights and takes responsability on what they do around town

i can see shitara playing a major role in the future, but since the last time qe saw him was when umemiya was 14 years old, i hardly think we will see him again, OR as you pointed out, when umemiya graduates.

if im not wrong, it has been aprox five months (?) sicne sakura entered furin, so i think we're close to that

the one person i really dont think will appear again is umemiya's savior. why? because he couldn't see his face, it wasnt shown, we didnt got a name, not even a nickname, and as you were saying, he's an adult probably out of town that will never appear again

it will be one hell of a twist if the savior happens to be related to someone else, like being suo's martial artist brother or sakura's acquaintance, but i hardly believe he will appear again. yes he was influential in the story, and yes he shared with us some very important information about the old furin, but that was his role at the moment, and the story was going on about umemiya and shitara.

so, yes, shitara will probably appear again in some important scene, and no, the savior will probably not appear ever again

and IF we're talking about a third party, the other guy shitara and the savior mentioned, I hardly believe they will give us more insight on this. there's still a high chance this will get more focus in the series as the events starts to unfold in something more large. i think, if anything, nirei can crack the code of this mysterious saviors and the old furin secrets, I believe in my notebook guy!! (tho I really like how you connected the "serious/calm and goofy/loud" duo, it makes total sense)

OTHER THING THAT I REALIZED I THOUGHT YOUVE POINTED OUT BUT TURNS OUT I JUST IMAGIEND was that shitara and the other girl mention that because of all the gangs messing up the town the police had turned a blind eye to all these and left the town without doing their proper job, so that lefts us with no reliable adults available to put a stop to those crimes. there's no teachers in furin even tho its a school. the townsfolk rely on the furin boys. there's hardly any picture of parents anywhere, not even in conversations. shitara is the first adult to be relied on by someone in the entire series, and i think that alone says a lot about the guy and the future of the series in general.

When I first started ALITW I was searching in the feminization tag because I wanted femboy smut. Then I just HAD to find such a genuinely well written book that I got emotionally attached too 😭

But like srsly- I ADORE how you write suspense. I remember reading the chapters where Glenn stole the key and just squealing anytime it got brought up again because I was so scared. When Glenny got de-fingered I loved how realistic it was too. I’m so tired of people writing about characters loosing limbs and just bleeding a little or being in pain. Him fainting and throwing up is so genuinely realistic and I think is such a good metaphor for sexual assault. SA takes something from you that you can’t ever get back, you just have to learn to live without it. Glenn is such good rep for how survivors work.

Not to mention how great his character is. He’s not an innocent little boy- he’s a teenager and has some knowledge about sex from sex ed, but he’s still obviously uncomfortable and awkward with the topic like most kids are. He wasn’t special or different from other kids, he was just a sweet skater kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He cusses, fights with his siblings, makes fun of teachers, poor thing deserves so much better.

Anyway, I’ll never forgive Max for basically Lobotomizing Glenn, screw you for making that man my type 😭

AAAAAAA!!! Oh, this ask makes me so happy, I'm delighted you enjoyed the fics. I wanna write a few more, but there's a long list of stuff I wanna write, so who knows when I'll get around to it.

I wanted to incorporate Willow's issues with repressing her feelings into this AU somehow rather than erase it by including the detail of her tiny body not being designed for repression. So in my mind, Willow is an incredibly powerful fairy, a real force of nature. However, this kind of magic is at its strongest when it's not stretched too thin. SO if Willow uses her magic to change into a human sized form, she's significantly less powerful than she is when she's teeny tiny. Holding human form for long periods of time is like flexing a muscle in terms of magical ability. She can't do much else.

HOWEVER, when Willow changes into human form, she can actually regulate her emotions properly and is no longer such an open book. She can resist big messy outbursts of anger or sadness or giddiness. She can be chill. And she's finally capable of hiding how she's feeling.

So basically Willow has two forms. Both forms have their strengths and weaknesses and no matter which one she's currently in, she's vulnerable. When she's teeny tiny, she's ridiculously overpowered, but also all of her emotions pour out of her for the world to see. When she's in human form, she's physically weakened, but at least she can put her walls up.

It's about the vulnerability....it's about the trust....it's about feeling comfortable with switching between both forms because she feels both physically AND emotionally safe with the people she's around. I wonder if she can ever have that.

I imagine that fairy Willow was born when baby Amity laughed for the first time, so the two of them have this intrinsic connection. (I know that fairies are typically born fully grown but I'm rejecting that cuz the idea of fairy babies sound cute) and maybe Willow used to visit her and they'd play together when they were little. A human girl and her fairy. And then the falling out between them happens when Amity gets older and becomes jaded and drops the "I don't believe in fairies" line that severs their friendship for years. Maybe it's Willow she almost kills. Maybe the Collector was nice enough to revive her. Who knows. Point is that the amillow stuff is messy. And then Amity returns to Neverland as a 14 year old and things are awkward and weird between them and aaaah.

I don't imagine Willow as a changeling myself. And I don't see her as a princess nor her Dads as kings. But somebody once did art for this AU where they decided that it was fun to picture her as being fairy royalty, so who am I to deny people having their own fun headcanons for this AU. I love that you're enthusiastic enough to have so many thoughts about it!!! Think whatever you want!! I DO love picturing fairy Gilbert and Harvey. What a beautiful image.

I remember BAWLING when I first read it, and ✨surprise surprise✨ I cried again just recently when I reread it again. re: descriptive ship names for fs ships…. i fucking LOVE using colour combinations to refer to them. magenta for redvio. teal for glue. indigo for viblue. “gred” is really funny to me so i haven’t come up with a good combo for them, but i associate them with bloodstained or burning (red) grass or wheat stalks (green). similarly, “bludow” is a really fun name for them, but i Love the “deep sea” idea you floated (pun intended). reddow could be shaded embers….

I honestly like using more elemental-based names for their ships, and I shall now dump the main ones HERE:

Magma / Lava: Red/Vio - Since the difference between the two names is just if it's on top of or beneath the earth's crust, I'd probably use one or the other depending on who I want to portray as the Head of the relationship (if there IS a head, sometimes it's clear NEITHER of them have their lives together lol)

Steam: Red/Blue - Since water, when it hits its boiling point, turns into steam, I think that when these two are really feeling in-synch, it's obvious that Blue is more energized/less burdened by a LOT, and Red is happy to make Blue happy <3

Updraft: Red/Green - Red is the ultimate hype-man, and since air rises when it's warmer, I think it's really sweet to name their relationship as such since it shows how much Red helps with Green's self-esteem! Uplifting king.

Sunset: Red/Shadow - When the sun dips below the horizon, warm sunlight and shadows begin the mingle. I am certain that once they get over that odd "Uuuuuhhhh sorry I was evil" thing, they'd be very, VERY comfortable around each other. Like Shadow feels safe enough to drop his guard and sleep with Red in the room comfortable (the last time that happened Vio nearly killed him)

Trench: Vio/Blue - Mostly thinking of the Mariana Trench here, this could also triple as a poly ship with Shadow tbh,,,hmmmmmmm

Dust: Vio/Green - When Dirt is kicked up it forms Dust in the Air. Fairly simple, tbh. Green pushes Vio to do more than he's used to, and Vio follows along and has a bit of lighthearted fun along the way, even if he wasn't sure at first.

Cavern: Vio/Shadow - Their relationship started off mostly empty, but if they decide to venture into its vast depths, they'd find a vast array of treasures and life within it <3 they just need to take that step and reconcile.

Fog: Blue/Green - Fog is the result of concentrated moisture in the air, reducing visibility and making the air feel stuffy. I personally subscribe to the idea that Blue is actually kind of clingy, though he would usually never admit it. Definitely a very post-canon dynamic for them, Blue would need to get over his odd jealousy of Green being the "Most Link", THEN he'd be able to feel safe/allowed to reach out/cling.

Deep Sea: Blue/Shadow - You brought it up again, but I want to elaborate on my reasoning further! I think that they'd have a hard time getting close since they both think they'd hurt each other, and the pressure of the others forming bonds with Shadow would definitely make both of them feel obligated to try and talk. The more they interact and learn about each other, the more they realize they BOTH have a few screws loose and end up being a solace to one another. Blue can show his stranger sides, and Shadow can make jokes he feels too uptight to say around the others (who he sees as pristine/clean, and he doesn't want to dirty them, in a way. Blue's more like a work-towel, for lack of better words-often clean, but definitely stained and willing to get messy.). The Deep Sea is full of creepy crawlies, and I think they'd bond over their own darker aspects eventually. (Can you tell I love these two and want to write them more??? So few fics about them on Ao3, and the main ones I could find were either like. Torture-porn. Which is NOT my vibe. Or not updated since 2015. I should write them more I love them)

Stormcloud: Green/Shadow - I think these two would be at-odds a lot of the time, but they'd find their middle-ground. Just because Green understands that Shadow has done good things doesn't mean he can overlook literally everything else. It would take a while, but I think they'd eventually be comfortable enough to open up about their internal conflicts and come to a conclusion that makes them both happy (kissing sloppy-style lol)

Kaleidescope: All of them at ONCE - I love to associate these losers with butterflies, and fun fact! A Kaleidoscope, while yes is a toy full of colorful knickknacks that makes cool patterns when you twist them, is also the proper name for a Group of Butterflies. Their metamorphosis throughout their stories and into their future is so intriguing and they're delicate yet so resilient and AUGH. I LOVE THEM. 99% of what I write is this ship EVENTUALLY, if I make multiple pairs of them kiss then I would definitely make them all kiss each other. It's common sense.

The vastness of space was something Stardust Cookie was well acquainted with. If one were to assume that he could name each and every constellation, they would likely be correct. Though, that is not to say he has visited each and every place. To assume that would be far from the truth. The planets visited by Stardust Cookie are few and far between. As such, any place graced with his presence could consider itself lucky.

The same could be said for this planet, which Stardust Cookie had just set foot on for the first time. As he got off the train, he looked around the city. For a while, he simply walked aimlessly through the city, enchanted by the atmosphere provided by the neon lights everywhere.

He walked on for hours on end without any particular destination. That is, until, he noticed a melody playing in the distance. Curiously, he made his way towards the source of the music.

The closer he got to the song, the more he was amazed by the melody. As he approached the music, he eventually found its source: you, singing and playing songs for all to hear. He looked you up and down, astonished not only by your music, but by your charming looks as well.

He decided to stay and listen for a while, your music bringing forth a strange, fuzzy feeling in his heart. Your melodies and songs brought a warm smile to his face as he nodded along to the beat. For a brief moment, the two of you locked eyes, and he swears your grin grew larger when you noticed him.

He wasn't quite sure how long he had stayed, but it didn't matter to him. All that mattered to him was the steady beat of your music, synchronized with the steady beat of his heart.

Hi, not sure if you remember me, but i sent an ask a while ago saying how i love the Incadescence of a dying light and that i talk about it with my friend and how we both really liked the story and are juts you know discussing it well update to now. we still do that lol. i cant stop thinking about it, i listen to the firewatch OST on the daily, resonating with each track at a time. I love it. I live it. I am enamored. Everytime Im studying Polish (my native language) and revising each epoch for my upcoming finals i cant help but connect themes and motives to that wonderful story of yours. If i land on a fitting topic in my oral final exam (like pop-culture, creativity and arts, certain themes in modern media) you BET Ill be talking about this fic (with all the credit I can give of course!) cause USARWSETDYRVUHUISC I cant get it out of my head. Its such an amazing example of how the media of fanfiction elevates the story to its maximum potential. How knowing the characters makes it so much easier to connect and resonate, even though Mumbo is absent from the majority of the fic, we still feel hurt after finding out whats happened to him. I like your point about how fanfiction can maximize story potential! I think it'd make a wonderful essay topic honestly. I have thought about this in connection with fanfic a lot--specifically, the divide between original fiction and fanfiction. In original works, you have to make the audience care. You have to introduce me to a character, setting, and story I will be interested in. I've read a lot of negative book reviews that start off with "the author didn't make me care about the characters" (i have also...said this myself about books I ended up not liking.) With fanfic, you skip that step! It lets you jump right in. I don't have to explain Mumbo and Grian's friendship or demonstrate it to you. You just Know. Someone reading it fandom blind would get the implication about how important they are to each other simply by seing the depth of Grian's grief, but for my intended audience, I can do whatever I want because I trust you to already have the background information you need.

The title is from a line I really like in a song (Post Humorous by Gus Dapperton). It just...painted such a nice word picture. Especially for a story about grief death and fire!

just rewatched the first three episodes of lok and i'm obsessed again. korra is SO CUTE she's buff she's passionate she's self assured she's sassy as fuck she's the whole world to me omg.

welcome to republic city & the revelation do SUCH a good job of establishing the character of the city and really, introducing the new world!!! the revelation has been one of my favorite episodes of lok for a long minute because of its noir aesthetic, the art in the cityscaping, the insane cinematography and composition of the korra/mako & chi-blocker fight! the way that mako's revelation of his and bolin's backstory is a direct parallel to the fradulent backstory of amon!!!! (and the potential behind the firebenders-killed-my-parents stereotype as inflicted on a firebending kid,,,)

AND THE WAY KORRA IS IMMEDIATELY SMITTEN WITH MAKO IS SO FUNNY. the way that it just does not occur to mako at all to romantically like korra at all — he sees that bolin is not in their attic and automatically assumes that he's flirting with korra and is just entire amused at the concept like okay,,, then korra offers to help him find bolin and he goes "nah i got it" and i'm like dude,, if i were in your position i would literally be hanging off of her bc she's so cute wdym Nah I Got It you do not got it you are a hot trauma mess let the pretty girl help you. actually he's aro what.

also i'm yelling about how bolin was written as, y'know, an actual human being with feelings and nuance in characterization in these first few episodes. the show could never make me hate you bolin. and the way mako looks so tired all the time especially in his initial introduction just looking at his side profile, and how he word for word goes "i think i'm gonna turn in; you kids have fun" at korra and bolin STOP. mako physically picking up an equalist and hauling them off the stage like a ragdoll bc they were going to harm bolin is the truest shit of all time. sorry i still think mako should've been a girl but in that moment where he asks if bolin is alright and bolin goes "YES MAKO I LOVE YOU" i agreed bc i love him for who he is in canon too

THE SETUP FROM A LEAF IN THE WIND guys the way the airbending philosophy translates over into an entire theme of the season,, how tenzin and korra's relationship already evolves so much over the course of one episode and how they recognize their own faults and acknowledge each other's perspectives; they were always meant to help build one another into better more empathetic people. i just love watching their dynamic so much um kind of the most important part of the show. also the way that korra sees what mako does in the ring and connects it to what tenzin told her about airbending and how it finally clicked for her,,, sorry i'm once again thinking about the sheer potential that makorra could've been until it got absolutely trashed in about one episode from now LOL. (i'm joking it took about another season before that happened but still.)

That's a fantastic template for two people. And I hope to use it for Vix and Shadowheart once I explore more of their journey. But. Uh. My current brainrot is my AoT OT3. So I'm stealing this opportunity to share the latest version of their chart (OT3 template here).

Explanatory rambles below the cut!

Hange is a chaotic non-binary mess of a leader soldier, Levi is a clean freak who blunt and crass and so deliberate with emotions that he doesn't express them like others do, and OC Shion is a broken sunshine character seeking joy on her better days and clawing for meaning on her worse ones.

[greeting each other] Levi consistently uses demeaning terms toward Hange. "Idiot," "four-eyes," etc. When he uses their name, it's a big deal. I haven't figured out what he'll call Shion, but since she confessed so early in their relationship, he didn't have a chance to come up with something like what he calls Hange before Things Changed between them.

[First to confess] ahaha yeah Shion first tells Levi she loves him in chapter 9. We're on chapter 23 and neither Levi nor Hange have used those words. (but we're getting so damn close aaaaaaa)

[First to kiss] Levi kisses Shion after she confesses. He can't articulate why. She doesn't press him to. He knows she's important to him, something he shows in a thousand little ways. (Hange's a force of nature and takes all of this in stride in chapter 10 in very Hange-esque ways.)

[Dies for the others] OHOHO the WAYS this could happen depending on timeline and adherence to canon. Dare I explore a worldstate in which Shion dies to save Hange's life? WE SHALL SEE

[Prone to hide their feelings] This condition is in Levi Ackerman's blood okay. And an innocent chapter 8 conversation leads Hange to hide their feelings for both Shion and Levi to some extent. Their affection? Not at all hidden. Their romantic feelings? BURY THAT SHIT. Until they can't keep it buried any longer.

[First to apologize after a fight] Shion is not one who tolerates strain between herself and those she loves. Especially if she's the person responsible for it. But when that strain exists for reasons outside of her control… she won't apologize for the sake of apologizing. And she's learning not to apologize for who she is or how she feels.

["Excuse me, they asked for no pickles"] Shion will sit there and roll with things (and may encourage others to do the same depending on the situation) but there is no freaking way Levi or Hange would accept any of the three getting pickles when they didn't ask for pickles, lol.

[Spoils the others] How said spoiling occurs depends on the person, but they're each ready able and willing to spoil the other two.

[Wakes up first] Levi canonically doesn't sleep much. So I headcanon that Hange has experimented with sleeping draughts (experiments which always piss off Levi regardless of effectiveness because Hange takes it as a personal challenge to slip him one without him noticing). But for this relationship, he's the first one awake which has already manifested multiple times in the fic. The very limited scenarios in which he wouldn't wake first are super fun to play with~

["What's updog?"] I took this line less literally, seeing it as which of them are the most casual in speaking to the others, most likely to make puns, etc. And that's 100% Hange.

[First to propose] Once the OT3 shakes off its rocky romantic restart, this is unnecessary. Hell, even before the official confessions, they're already a unit.

[Wants children] I actively avoid giving my OCs children. I stopped writing for one in part because it seemed like children were a likely outcome. And then Shion comes along and turns that on its head. So. There's a kid in one possible future. With three parents who love her very much.

[Didn't know they were dating] The they-were-already-a-unit thing I mentioned earlier comes into play here. I have mixed feelings about the word "dating" here only because it tends to have romantic connotations, and both Shion and Hange's initial feelings are strongly platonic. But given how much I adore Levihan and that this is my first-ever OT3, plus after thinking long and hard about how Shion eventually feels about Hange and vice versa, I decided all of their feelings would be considered romantic.

[Initiates contact] Shion holds back SO HARD from being affectionate toward Levi, but he picks up on that (and appreciates it) and works to communicate when he's more open to that sort of thing. Not that he's good at it, but he tries. Meanwhile, Hange is alllll about touching and other affectionate gestures, which helps further lower the barrier for the other two.

[Approached first] Shion kind of sort of approached Levi first (remember, she was holding back) and Levi, once he's open to taking another step, doesn't hold back. But I'm thinking about this romantically, and Hange is highly reticent to show romantic advances toward either one knowing that Shion has feelings for Levi.

[Says the L word first] Shion 100%.

[The oblivious one] I'm using "oblivious" a bit loosely here; Levi takes a while to sort through what to name his feelings, and Hange hangs out in denial for quite some time.

It amuse me that Nightshift Seems to be very scary to some people ? I had friend telling me they played with the sound off because it scared them and in a way I'm proud that the scary part work but I'm amused because the game is bad... Like let's call a cat a cat, this was my first game and a lot of it is not so good of quality ( I do plan on polishing it one day but that not for a long time )

And to answer, as for now all the current games are sharing the same universe, they are sort of side stories for the main stories ( paranormal club ) That I don't intend to work on before a whileeeeeee but yeah ! All characters are already fleshed out exept for minors roles or npc.

And I think I made posts about it already but my main reasons : I love dating sims and romance visual novels but I want to make the representation that I feel lack in this medias. Tulipe was born out of spite for all the games that force you to be sexual to romance or befriend a character, Apple bag was born from seing how women ( especially black girls ) are treated in otome fandom space + the lack of afab non binary love interest. 21 questions was born out of my envy to tell a story that could help people feel less alone, even more since a big part of the events happening in the game are inspired by problems I myself lived or observed. In general I make my games both to tell stories I want people to enjoy and find comfort in but also out of spite ( the two best fuels ).

Aaaaaaa thank you a lot it makes me so happy to know you want to hear more! Answering this ask game What or who inspired your Durges design the most? A particular idea or vibe or perhaps another hottie or baddie? Character design comes a lot more easy to me if i think about characters in terms of their lived spaces so my first steps when i'm making up a guy are almost always a) doing a bit of research about the general setting (this blog has a ton of useful posts about D&D lore, i spent a lot of time reading them and the wiki!) and b) using the information i gather to imagine their room/workplace/usual haunts. I knew about durge's child of bhaal's bit already because i happened to see a very cool fanart of the temple before i started playing, so from there on it was a matter of asking myself: what would this dude i got a very general idea of put in a room to make it "theirs", what would fit their vibe? I liked the idea of them keeping a lot of scattered paper, scrolls and books around and from there i made up their interest in history and magic. The temple is home to a murder cult, it has corpses lying around and blood running all over the floors so i went on by wondering how they would react to the smell and found out that i liked the idea of a killer being squeamish about it, someone who would hang censer burners to the walls and obsessively scrub out every bit of gore after a kill, maybe even keep a little collection of perfume vials. There also are a lot of candles down there and they were my main inspiration for their clothing lmao head to toe flowy, wax-white robes. Once i managed to get all these little bits down, i developed further from there while playing and adjusted the details on the go (: Is their personal story represented in their overall design? Do they carry any mental scars or physical alterations from the shit that happened to them? Yes! Their pre-tadpole design features very long robes and a veil and if i'm drawing something related to that phase of their life i never represent them without it (i've read that bhaalists are known to wear it to cover their faces, though i've taken the liberty of making it white instead of black/purple). Even their slayer form retains some scraps of it over its eyes and body. They lose it post forced lobotomy and during the events of act I and II they only retain the robes, which they discard completely after the duel in act III to adopt civilian clothes. Rejecting Bhaal also changes their class from the canon storm sorcerer to wizard, because i like the idea of their magical talents being directly related to their demigod status. I feel like this last bit is particularly relevant to their development because it puts them in the position of only needing to rely on knowledge they have gathered by their own volition (something they start pursuing and studying post nautiloid incident but can't quite indulge before that), and because they actively have to keep nurturing it if they want to keep making progresses and sustain themselves on it. What's your go to medium for their portrayal? Google Docs, a niche notes app, perhaps one specific for writing, Procreate, Clip Studio, MediBang? Hit me with those recs. Do you sometimes mix em up? It truly just is my head and a questionably legal version of PS i got back in 2021.....i can't even say that i have a moodboard or something because while i like researching lore through texts i absolutely loathe gathering references lol I DEARLY WISH i hadn't completely stopped writing for pleasure after high school and that i had put more effort into learning english because sometimes i feel like wanting to portrait something that would work way better in a written format than how it would with illustrations...i want to make it up for it eventually but it's a slow process, so for now art it is hehe
