anyway, maybe its coz im using tumblr wrong. i literally only come here to grab some *feels* (good and bad) at the popular reblogs and then occasionally join in the simblr "oooh" and "gaaah!!" eras that i feel like im missing out on what u call the Back in the Day tumblr era. tumblr was advertised to me as a blogging site so like lmfao.

maybe its also because of the power of the anon feature that i can actually make myself be able to enter ur ask box without feeling too shy or scared that im here to comment on ur post. is it because we're far too scared to interact beyond the comments or is it because drama (not sure if theres a better word for it, controversy maybe?) has scarred us and being able to comment on things without the anon feature kind of scares us all now?

regarding simblr drama posts that blow up, u could probably also contribute it to bandwagon, right? like obv, its not the only reason it blows up but bandwagon helps. its far too easy to join in the opinion that everyone agrees on and parrot it around. like idk if im making sense but isnt it kinda easier to "not have an opinion" but rb that other person's opinion/fact that the rest of the community has deemed correct or right as if its your own (ok maybe this sentence sounds bad and i could probably phrase it as "i have an opinion about it but this other person has worded it so perfectly that i will rb this instead". anyway i'll leave it in coz the previous one could be true to some people). not that its bad, im honestly glad most of us agree on smth, it just sometimes loses that sense of discussion u probably meant if we're all just parroting everything.

Hahah no thank you for snooping on my tags 😅 what I meant to say is, I notice that most engagement happens through likes instead of comments, which is just really frustrating because yeah, I am used to tumblr being more of a forum so likes feel very empty to me. Unless it’s “”drama”” then yeah like you said, people are more inclined to comment. Like my first post that blew up was literally just “not someone charging $3 for sims nipples” or st like that which was really funny but also a little sad bc I would’ve loved to engage like that on posts I actually cared about and that weren’t just me being cheeky lol. That said, I understand what you mean about feeling too shy. I asked about this earlier - why ask questions on anon if they’re not mean - and for most people yeah, it boiled down to being shy or not wanting to seem over eager. But I LOVE when people are eager about my nonsense, I LOVE when people ramble like this in tags or comments or my inbox about my story/sims. That is the sole thing that’s kept me active here tbh - the couple people who comment and send me asks instead of just throwing a like here and there. I’ve been told many times that engagement on simblr is a lot lower than it used to be which is a little discouraging. I’ll look at my friends with large blogs and even though their stories get 100s of likes there’s still only 2-5 comments! I’d be pulling my hair out!! Maybe it’s a pet peeve that’s kinda specific to me lol but it does bother me sometimes especially when I put a q like hey tell me what you thought about x or whatever the case may be. Like even going so far as to be like “instead of a like tell me about x :) “ and that still not working. I guess that’s just not the way people engage on tumblr anymore :/ 🤷🏾‍♀️

Blocking and Filtering Content and Users for Fandom Newbies

I know many of us (myself included) have certain topics and blogs we'd prefer not to see on our dash. Just not following them is sometimes not enough as others reblogging such content might still show up.

For those of you who might be new to Tumblr or the fandom, here's 2 ways you can take care of yourself:

1. Block the user

Blocking someone is the most common way to go about it. Simply click on their little figure icon on the top right of their profile, then click 'Block'. You will no longer see their content, and they can no longer message you or visit your blog.

2. Filter Tags

If there are certain things you dont wish to see - a certain ship or something like 'blood' for instance - you can make sure that content with those things in the tags wont show on your feed either, and if it does it will have a warning. Click here for more detailed instructions.

I myself have a couple of tags filtered, there is no shame whatsoever in it. Common onces include: r*pe, ince*t, g*re, blo*d, and suic*de. It is up to content creators to tag appropriately, but if something isnt dont hesitate to ask them to tag it or ask a mutual to pass on the message. 90% of the time the OP forgot or didn't consider it and will have no issue tagging it.

Most GenZ and Millennials grew up in homes where parents or guardians didn't know how the internet works, so we've had to learn to navigate the space ourselves and it isnt always safe. This isnt a 100% safe guard but it is a good first step.

Fandoms are places of sharing love and passions, but sadly theres toxicity everywhere and RL issues will be there too. Some will cause you to see content that upsets you, others will try to control and police you, telling what you can and can not like. Here's some tips to make your fandom experience a bit better:

1. Follow blogs that like the same things you do and post content that makes you feel happy. There is no need to follow any blog out of obligation.

2. Reach out! Drop an ask or a message to folks you want to get to know. Tell them you like their blog or content. Fandoms are a great place to make friends.

3. Dont mind the toxicity. This is hard at times, I know, but good and bad times come and go. Stick to your friends and mutuals, and dont mind hateful and toxic content you dont want to get involved in. There will ALWAYS be ppl who dont agree with your ship or favs.

4. Be respectful. We all have different lives and experiences. You might think something is ok but it can be hurtful to someone else. Be mindful of others and dont just attack ppl for having different views.

Have fun, be safe, and dont be a dick

THE OWLS ARE IN! IT’S TIME FOR THE SURVEY RESULTS!

So, as many of our followers are probably aware, we recently did a survey to get a feel of what people thought of our blog. We got a total of 57 results and we are grateful to each and every one of you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. Now, we’re here to share the general consensus of what people thought and how we will accommodate these opinions.

We’ll definitely have some changes to the blog, so read on to see what those changes are!

Before we begin, we have a few things to briefly mention.

The results are pretty scattered. We didn’t want to restrict anyone, so most were free response or included “Other”. In hindsight, there were a few questions that could have easily been multiple choice without really restricting anyone. (Side eyes the first question.) Therefore, most of these will just summarize the results we got. Occasionally drop the graph for the multiple choice questions.

Because of the large amount of responses we got, not every answer will be listed here. We highlighted the things that were either most commonly mentioned or had us thinking the most.

And yes, we are making changes to accommodate these results! That’s what this survey was all about!

Our original quotes often don’t have sources. But if there’s one where a mod forgot to credit a source, please just message us and one of the admins will fix that!

“There isn't a particularly nice aesthetic to the blog, e.g. a matching layout and profile picture or quote.”

Yeah, we’re working to fix that. I like pretty blogs too.

“Could be updated a little more.”

(”Not much posting in my opinion,” “Long time between posts.”)

Strangely enough, we got this a few times but our later poll about how often to post were contradicting this. So, unfortunately, we will not be adjusting this.

We’re sorry you feel that way. We always put it in the tags, just in front of the source. We are more of a mod-based blog rather than a submission-based blog. Anyone is welcome to submit, but about 98% of our posts are created by our mods.

We can assure you our mods put a lot of thought into what characters to use, but you are welcome to message us with your own suggestion! (But please note that we are a Marauders blog; we got a few comments about how we don’t post enough Hinny or Romione, but that’s not what our blog is about.)

How often should we post?

We got a lot of variety here. Some say once a day (which is how often we currently post) was ideal. Others put stuff like...

“I wouldnt mind my entire blog just being filled with your posts.”

While Once A Day is the most voted for, the rest of the options put together, which we’ll name Two or More Times a Day, do win overall. Since we have one new post followed by a reblog, we’ll compromise by posting two times a day, but with one new post a day (the second being a reblog).

In UTC, what times do you prefer us posting?

As expected, not many people cared. But two people felt very strongly and voted for 12am, 1am, and 6pm UTC. So, we’ll consider that.

What characters, relationships, universes, etc. would you like to see more represented in our posts?

We got a lot of responses here, primarily being more Wolfstar, Jily, and BFFs James and Sirius. We also got a lot saying we should post about Hinny, Romione, next gen, FBAWTFT, etc. in which I remind you that this is a Marauders blog.

We also got the hilarious response that said we should maybe post about the “merauders”. Well, we can certainly promise you that.

We also got a lot of people saying more McGonagall. That’s something we can definitely do.

Would you like to see more original quotes from us?

For the longest time, the option 50/50 was at exactly 50%. Kind of disappointed that is no longer, but the 25% option is at 25%, so that’s something. Anyway, we’ll aim for 50/50.

What else would you like to see us post?

This was one of the results that will make the biggest change to the blog. People seem to really love these ideas. So expect...

Marauder Mondays! Every Monday we’ll have Marauder Monday, where we’ll answer asks, reblog posts, and have a party! Probably when we’ll post the “extra” posts, like our GIFs, graphics, aesthetics, videos, etc.

How would you feel if we did sponsored posts?

Combined, it seems like ~75% of those who took the survey are good with sponsored posts.

These results honestly surprised us. We’ve gotten a lot of offers of sponsorships in the past but have always denied them because we didn’t know how our followers would feel. We probably won’t do this in the near future, but it’s an option.

What kind of projects would you like to see us host?

We got so many people suggesting merch. Shirts, stickers, pins, other merch... So we’ll keep that in mind! We’d love some Marauders shirts ourselves.

☠ What does someone have to do for an instant unfollow from you?

a) not tag stuff at all and share frequent untagged gore expecially eye one (side blogs/vents/goreblogs are okay, i can just unfollow if i see something disturbing)b) not tag peoples urls, so i cannot blacklist or avoid them, but this isnt necessary most of the times so dw!!c) frequently bringing up ooc drama on my dash. nnn...o thank youd) often (around five times is enough to piss me off for sure) provoke my muse and never getting around the consequences aka not having read my rules and/or refusing to plot this particular thing out. again: im open to ooc communication and if youre not comfortable with it we can work a way around, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD: CONTACT MEe) be a jerkwad to everyone f) interact with tumblr user v//om//it///spi//ll aka my ex moirail despite knowing what happened between us and how much it stressed me out, even bringing me to the brink of suicide. i wont stop you from interacting with them, but if you do then i strongly suggest that you unfollow (and possibly block) me and never try to interact with me again both icly and oocly. i will not answer you. there are a few exceptions that im making and those are enough.

♥ What's the WORST thing that has happened to you rp wise?

me feeling paranoid over unanswered threads. there isnt a rp thing that genuinely scarred me up until now, just made me feel very annoyed??? i can start one with a simple: someone my muse was close with and developing a relationship not being able to ''take me messaging them too much'' but being more than able to take everyone elses messages, incredibly. obviously one of their friends pursued me to ask me to stop contacting them despite them never telling me anything of all sort of making me feel like i was a problem and needing to back off (and thats where i got bitter. why not communicating with me yourself? why using messengers???), we meddled things after i apologized and stuff was well for a while, but suddendly they pulled another 360° and WHAMMM blocked off their blogs and skype, calling me a stalker when i didnt even messaged them on their skype again and lived in anxiety of disturbing them and only liking some of their posts to let them see that i was here, still. they made a long reply shit talking me to an anon and im just... lol. if you cannot communicate well you shouldnt punish people for that. even after that, all of my rp partners are HELLA okay with me messaging them even when offline to tell them silly headcanons or leaving them affections so definitely: the problem wasn't me there, so idc. glad that theyre gone anyway! i retconnected everything just in case.

♦ What was a mildly annoying thing that has happened to you rp wise?

someone repeteatedly trying to spark ic drama that was unplanned and unwanted to try and ruin sims reputation, didnt showed proofs so it wasnt a matter that i dwelled too much in. people are still rping with me as far as i know, so?

yup, and theyre still reported on my blog for that. i genuinely cannot stand people who do that. i can understand that not having to plan anything for your oc and having them made entirely by leeching off someone elses headcanons/way of dressing/characters trait is easy, but it's HORRIBLE and it puts rpers in a very, very bad position. i stopped feeling guilty about confronting them when they faked a panic attack just to get away from the situation and to not admit of them being copycats. im still bitter over this, but i recently got told that they deactivated, so maybe the lesson finally went through!

ok, I apologize if this gets long and rambly, it’s just everything ive figured out to help tags show up in the search in the years ive been on this website.

ok, so first, certain things will make it so your post will not show up:

links, even on a link post, if it’s not a website that’s primarily text based (think ao3) will get blocked. you can include links to tumblr/other tumblr posts tho

cursing in the tags, dunno why but if u curse in the tags it gets blocked, you should be able to curse in the post itself but avoid cursing in the tags unless you censor it ig???

sometimes if youre using a new blog, whether this is a new account or a new side blog tumblr wont show your posts for a while

I’ve heard that it takes 24 hours, and ive heard that it takes 12 posts on that blog but ive had the most luck just reblogging several things, waiting a day or two and maybe posting some stuff i dont care as much if it shows up in tags? just to show tumblr this is a blog thats actually being used, and then try posting. 

check that stuff first ^ and take it out if you can, now, if your post still isnt appearing, we are in what i like to call the Bullshit Zone.

the advice im giving you here is mostly guessing, but hopefully it helps:

- repeat the word or phrase of a tag you want it to show up in, for example:

say I want to post a picture of a dog so i put the tag ‘dogs’ on my post, but it’s not showing up. then I put more tags on the post that include that word. ex: ‘dogs’ ‘i love dogs’ ‘look at the dogs’

just repeating the word in the tags has made posts show up that werent before

- do not use that tag as the first thing you tag. I have no idea why, but I’ve had it happen where the first thing i tag does not show up in search but the rest of the tags work fine, i really really could not tell you why.

this doesnt always happen, so if youre not having this problem you don’t have to avoid the first tag but I always do just from habit

actually, if you can use it the first tag is useful, because the first five tags will always show up to people who are specifically following that tag, so I follow the ‘photography’ tag and whenever that’s in the first five tags of a post I’ll see it on my dash.

and even if a post has a link or cursing in it so it’s blocked in the search function, it will still show up to people following the tag, which is useful if youre trying to share something that can only be linked!!
