marble hornets theory
edit: ok i fixed it and may i just say how bad the spelling is. i fixed most of the spelling but im not capitalizing the names cus i can
Ok so idk if this is a well known thing and im just being stupid or if its actually a theory not a lot of people talk about but i want to share it cus i want to think im smart.
So most of us already know about the operator and slendy being different eldritch monsters, with different powers and abilities. They both have some sort of sickness (slendy being slendy sickness and the operator being god knows what, i don't think they gave it a name) but while one of them can turn you into a proxy, a person that follows the orders of slenderman, the other one gives you an alter ego of sorts. A crazed shell of yourself that has questionable motives. Are they against or helping the operator?
During marble hornets we see at least 2 cannon appearances of these ego's (i say 4 but 2 haven't been proved cannon or where scrapped). Those being hoody and masky. Theses are character we barely hear talk, masky only saying one word to my knowledge, and where they stand on the good to bad line is debatable. We see masky attack jay randomly in brians house but also kidnap Jessica to draw her away from alex. Hoody we see sending jay clues, hating alex and wanting him gone, but he also teases and pokes at jay and outright steal tims pill countless times
We already know they appear from being influenced by the operator or by having the sickness and getting an intake of pills. But if the operator is a major role player in becoming an alter ego, then why do they act against him?
I think its because like proxies (i don't fully understand how they tick yet so this could be wrong) they need the sickness, but unlike them they are somewhere both in control and not in control of there actions.
The operator messes with your mind. He doesnt kill you physically he kills you mentally. In Joseph's live stream he says something around the times of " the operator attacks you mentally so we didn't want him to suddenly start beating you up " this was why they made masky and hoody, as a way for the operator to attack them. We see them work against the operator tou. To the ark was mainly masky hoody and the other member giving jay hints and showing him things. I think because unlike proxies in which they just simply do what slenderman tells them the ego's get morally hijacked. The operator convinces them what they are doing is right and they end up only helping him because what they think is right gets corrupted by the operator.
Alex is are biggest proof the the theory(may not be a cannon ego but Joseph states that he acts and responds like one just without a mask). Alex's main goal is stopping the operator but like tim trys to tell him, he is only feeding it. Alex starts out normal then starts getting violent through out the production of marble hornets. He shows directly how he dislikes the operator and is trying to stop the thing from following him. But then he stops running, he stops trying to escape the operator and instead helps it with the mind set of he is going to save everyone. That is the operator getting into you head and jumbling there morals. Making them think whats wrong is right and using that to make them do what he wants them to do.
The ego's can still fight it. We see masky having a seizure in entry 18 and we see hoody coughing and having to take pills throughout season 3. The egos are separate from the hosts (tim and brian) but they still take tolls from the operator. They are generally against the operator but because of its powers they can end up fighting with the operator without realizing it.
That is basically my theory. The operator has more control over someones morals then it does on the person them self. I can explain more if you would want. Im still finding proof cus this isn't enough for me. If anyone has proof or stuff that contradicts what i have here then i would be happy to know. I have a piece of art i want to work on but idk if imma get to it today cus i want to complete a few frames today. Does anyone know how to put the keep reading thing up. I don't want to make someone scroll all the way past this.
