nolan hugs debbie from behind, “you know exactly what’s on my mind, woman.” he presses a kiss to her neck.

debbie laughs, “probably because it’s on my mind too.”

that isn’t to say that debbie isn’t into you either, she’s really into you too but nolan is more forward than her

they invite you for dinner and you guys are chill, you’re still under the impression that this whole thing is just for fun. you’re not going to get into a relationship with a married couple, but sex is fine cuz yk… its sex

so when they bring it up to you, saying how they’re both into you and they want to give it a shot, you’re like…. um no lol

they don’t say anything at first tho, they’re like “oh! um. fine. ig.” the mood is killed tho so ur like lemme leave and then debbie and nolan have a conversation.

“i guess we can’t make her be with us.” debbie laughs, weakly. “i don’t know, i guess i thought she felt the same as us.” debbie continues to ramble and nolan sits down next to her, “i’m so embarrassed, nolan.” she rests her head on his shoulder.

“i was there too. if im not embarrassed, why are you?” he presses a kiss to her forehead and she sighs. a moment of silence passes before nolan speaks up again, “debbie, we could make her be with us. it wouldn’t take much.” debbie stiffens.

“nolan…”

“we like her.” nolan sneaks an arm around her waist, “and she likes us too. we just have to help her realize it.”

nolan and debbie are patient people. debbie loves nolan, so she trusts him. so if it means kidnapping you and stockholm syndroming you into loving them… i mean…

you scream into your gag, but no one comes to save you. you rest your head against the wall, exhausted. you had been trapped in their basement for the last couple days, chained to a bed, screaming till you fell asleep. you were freezing, itchy, hungry, and to make matters worse, your throat hurt. you let yourself rest, no amount of screaming was going to save you. after a couple minutes, you hear the door creak open. two sets of feet quietly come downstairs. “are you done?” nolan looks bored and debbie smacks his arm.

“are you alright, sweetheart?” she bends down to cup your cheek. you lean into the warmth of her hand. “we wanted to come down here earlier, but we were worried your… unrest… would upset mark.” she looks at you, eyes full of worry. you mumble into your gag. debbie moves to pull it, but nolan makes a noise of complaint.

“she’s not ready yet.” he stands with his arms crossed, menacing.

debbie rolls her eyes, “she’ll be good, nolan. have faith in our girl.” she looks at you, “you’ll be good, right?” you nod. she pulls the wet gag off of you.

“please, debbie, let me go. i-i don’t know why you guys are doing this, but-” your throat burns and you cough. debbie coos, gesturing to nolan for something. he hands her a glass of water. she helps you drink, tilting the glass. she pets your hair as you greedily gulp down water, some of it spilling down the sides of your mouth. nolan bends down, gently wiping your mouth with his thumb. debbie smiles, using her sweater to dry your tears.

“you’re not understanding, (y/n). we love you.” nolan’s thumb presses against your lips.  

debbie pets your hair, “we really only want you to love us back.”

The Temple of Hera was large enough to be called a labyrinth, and it certainly felt like one. Weaving halls pouring out into magnificent gardens full of statues, flowers and hedges fit for hiding in. It was a beautiful landmark, perfectly sculpted like her husband’s temple. Though his was high above, proudly sitting on a hill, while hers sat peacefully hidden in the groves of the forest.

It was practically empty, no mouse nor serpentine thing dared to disturb. But there was something there, or more, someone.

A young woman, dressed in peplos, she wore her hair in many different braids. Some were decorated, others were plain, but all held a story and kept it out of her face. Her face, that of which you could not see. However, it would be good to make note of the staff nearby. It was a wooden one, natural and new, but very deeply loved. Flowers and charmed beads hung off it, and a long, gold carved serpent swirled up, hanging at the curve down with a water lily hung from its mouth, a faint light glowing from it. 

She was working peacefully, making no disturbance to the silence other than a low hum of a distant melody. It was unclear what exactly she was doing, but it would be an estimation that, at this time of day, it could be an offering. Still, something felt off in the moment, here in this temple, like you were intruding on something. It was your choice whether to leave or not—she has yet to notice you were even here—but your decision best be made quick, and quietly.

Haha it might not be the best example of my writing when you compare it to like, wanted or better halves, because I've been writing it in what I can best describe as a fuge state and I fear it's like. Really incoherent.

But we have great moments from Percy and Annabeth both as they adapt to being in the old world! They very quickly have to adapt to the fact that murder is maybe ok and maybe necessary:) it's 16 y/o Percy and Annabeth (specifically Mid Battle of Manhattan) so we have Maximum emo and maximum longing from them. They are literally ody and pen 2.0 and I'm obsessed with them

last song: Hong Kong Cemetery by Johnny Flynn. it's got a dreary sort of melancholy which has suited me well recently! and a rolling motion to it which matched the long train i was recently on. and i love a chant and the slurred out of time "I'm alright!" in this one is particularly moving to me.

last book: currently im getting through wolf hall, but i am falling victim to the slowing as i approach the end now. last four chapters! last book i finished.... well it's difficult to say bc ive mostly been chapter reading essays in this last year. probably We Have Always Lived In The Castle back in october. good read 👍

last movie: captain fantastic . a great way for me personally to ruin my own day. eerily similar to the way i was raised. makes me feel like im in a meat grinder

last television show: love alarm! honestly unless the premise starts kicking in im going to dnf and after only one ep too..... it's just like. you have this premise of a love alarm which im happy to buy into but then having your main characters all choose to opt out? ok so what was the point of all the love alarm then. im also supremely tired of love triangles rn. possibly ill pick this up next time i want to watch something fluffy but we'll see.

sweet/savoury/spicy: sour or vinegary or salty which I guess is typically savoury but like. it's also different bc it can be sweet or spicy or combined and the constant is the sour or tangy tastes

relationship status: single!

last thing i looked up on the internet: point and shoot film cameras. im hoping to (and it seems likely that i will) travel more in the new year and id like to not take pictures on my phone especially considering when im travelling alone taking digital photos feels weirdly sterile and empty in a way that my solo film pictures don't?

current obsession: wolf hall but also! the early modern age! that was just a fun coincidence that they're bonking heads so near

looking forward to: going down south! im so rarely down there but it looks like im going to have many opportunities! especially if i get a chance to meet up with friends who are more southern than i am!! epic!!

okay these commenters just... get it. not to say my other commenters don't, but i adore when people pick up on the subtle hints i drop when the gods' perspectives pop up that they're in a human-like form, but it's a mask and will always be a mask. okay, so maybe it's not always subtle, but i don't like actually defining exactly what they are. whatever i can come up won't be fitting or as good as whatever each reader's mind comes up with personally. like, sure, i can strip them of their mortal personas (which... is what it is. personas. facades. masks.) but it's up to my readers to fill in those gaps. is it a fully defined, enraged, otherworldly being? is it nothing but a black blob of teeth and eyes and pure hunger? who knows.

and i love, love, love what bakedbean15 pointed out: what poseidon and co. are doing is morally ambiguous. that's exactly what i was hoping to convey: that poseidon and triton and amphitrite can make all the jokes they want, tease percy until he leaves the room and play as many card games as possible, but they will never fully be understandable. nor will their morals align with humans. they are gods and at the end of the day they will act as such, and if that means all but feasting on gabe's pain for their own benefit and pleasure more than for percy's sake, then so be it.

another layer i love people picking up on is that they're not just gods, they're gods of the sea. they're part of the sea itself, and that's a whole new realm of morally ambiguous. who tells the sea what she can and cannot do? no one. the sea does not answer to the sky or to the earth. in fact, both can be seen answering to her.

first of all, love the epic references, and i am absolutely obsessed with ruthlessness rn, and also the bit abt the birkenstock made me wheeze 🫠

there are two main things i love about this fic. firstly, the personification of the sea. its so poetic and beautiful and it really has such a huge impact whenever it's brought up. i love it so so so much. second, the fact that poseidon is very much so behaving like a god. he's nice to percy, sure, but he has absolutely no mercy for gabe. even just killing him isnt enough for poseidon, and i think i think it brings up some big questions. and not to spoil the fun here, because i know we all love to see gabe getting a taste of his own medicine, but is what poseidon is doing truly right? of course, gabe is a monster, but hypothetically, real person smelly gabe, was in fact also a person, with his own traumas and fears and things that made him the way he is. it's no excuse, but I wouldn't say hes inherently evil. (dont misread me here, the stuff he did was WRONG AND MESSED UP) and the bit about keeping the whole torturing gabe thing from percy just proves that this isnt for percy, poseidon, triton, and soon amphitrite, are doing this for themselves. which is morally ambiguous and very on brand for greek gods.
