i used to !!! i was doing print on demand bc im clueless but ran into issues with it (was making 0-negative profit, quality issues) so when i DO sell prints again im gonna do it myself !! i just need to be able to afford the printer for it and ink shipping supplies etc :,D and i dont have like $600 to drop on that rn so it is unsure when i will have them again

are you ok with sharing how you go about making stuff for and handling your shop?

Yeah! I haven't got a lot of free time so it's not updated as much as I wish it could be, but I usually wait until i have a design i really like and want to make into stickers, and then I order like ten or so from Diginate, because their turnaround and customer service is usually really good.

they've helped me out with fixing dodgy cutlines and double checking with me if the proof looks right before they print, and I like their sticker designer feature :) I also get my art prints from there but I find prints much more difficult to design because within two weeks i start to hate everything i draw 😭 I will usually let a few orders accumulate and then batch pack and print labels when I can . Only word of advise i really have it make sure you triple check your stock inventory and make sure the listing numbers match, lol. Also factor in how expensive buying mailers and other packing materials is, and buying ink cartridges to print shipping labels.

I recently got a badge maker and i can make button badges now, which was a pretty hefty investment that i only made because the candy clone stickers sold really well and i could afford something else on top of restock :D Im only using the badges as freebies for now though, since i dont have a good enough quality printer to be producing sale quality badges right now :/ working on it. Also my girlfriend and i love to sit and do repetitive tasks for ages so shes a huge help

sorry long tangent but tldr I do shop stuff when i have free time and i love making little stickers of my little dudes, and i'm v grateful for all the love from you guys especially because i had to take my cat to the vet out of hours on Monday and I was extremely thankful to have etsy funds to use to help pay for that

not my old black ink drying out and i got tired of reviving it so the moment hp lowered the price i bought a brand new one... and today i had to print a shipping label and guess what. error message printer can't detect ink........... it was working the whole last week?? no issues? and it detects the old ink no problem??? im so mad im going to return that ink bc what the fuck is this.....

I’d be interested to know who you used for some future projects I’ve got in the works.

I ended up using Mixam in the UK for my patreon hardbacks, and while we had a time getting cover dimensions sorted out (miscommunication between the US and UK office. It was fine once they handed me off to the actual print team) their quality control and customer service were unparalleled compared to Ingram. I was getting IM replies for complex questions within hours and emails once a day when needed, even despite the time differences. They also waived the cost of shipping a crate of 300 books from the UK to US which was a nice surprise.

So yeah, I spent several thousand dollars using a more upscale printer, but it was only maybe $2k more than what Ingram quoted me once you looked at tax and shipping.

Meanwhile, Ingram were sending me books with pages glued together and faling out of the binding, and they still refuse to refund me because according to their support team the books are “sellable as is.”

Not to mention the illustration print quality and the fact that even when paying for Ingram’a premium ink and paper, the beautiful illustrations @ryehickman made for me looked like they’d been printed through a dirty sock.

Top book is Ingran’s most expensive paper with their most expensive ink options.

Bottom is Mixam’s standard printing.

So, yeah. Ingram is still unavoidable for mass global distribution. But their quality control and customer service has gone to absolute shit over the last two years, and they keep putting up prices. It's like they’re trying to drive folks to Amazon while banking on the fact that there’s no real competitors we can turn to and still have full market access. Assholes.

So IngramSpark now has the option to pay for better customer service. Neat. Love that.

Their exact words were: "IngramSpark Connect is intended to provide a higher level of service and overall better experience than a typical email to customer support."

Jet properly goes to Remy again freaking out not able to sleep and it's properly like 2 in the morning. Jet panics more and just screams BUT WHAT IF THEIR SLEEPING?? Jet calls them and when they pick up they are sniffling and clearly crying but they don't sound like they just woke up so they haven't got any sleep like him and god he feels so bad and Jet all quietly is like 'this is Jet and I... I'm really sorry about earlier...'

Remy motions for him to continue.

And they just chuckle and laugh cause GOD HES ADORABLE and they just say 'I'm glad you do. It's okay I'm sorry for rushing you and causing you to panic that was my fault.'

Jet is just so relieved and they chat a bit more and he hangs up but right before magenta just quietly says 'I love you'

JET IS JUST BRIGHT RED AND HE STUMBLES OVER HIS WORDS AND HE CAN'T EVEN GET THE WORDS OUT SO HE JUST QUICKLY HANGS UP

Remy is just in the background laughing his head off cause gosh these two clueless lovers are gonna be the death of him.

And god the next day when magenta sees Jet they just made a beeline for him and hugs him so hard they go crashing to the ground but magenta is laughing so hard and Jet just cracks a smile.

His friends are looking at him like 'what the fuck dude?'

And jet GLARES at them 'don't laugh or be mean to them if you don't want your head ripped off'

And like Jet is just clueless at romance and panics everytime they do something romantic cause he's just like 'AM I DOING THIS RIGHT IDK WHAT IM DOING LOVE AM I DOING THIS RIGHT HELP!!!!!!!'

And magenta just laughs a little and places a hand on his arm or gently holds his hand and whispers 'your doing fine honey there's nothing to worry about I gotcha'

UT AU Plush shipping update + more

Hey fellas! I've been getting several messages from folks who were concerned whether their ut plushies had already been shipped or why they haven't been shipped yet.

and those are extremely reasonable! it has been more than 5 months right? so don't worry for reaching out to me and asking whats up!

i wanted to make a post explaining whats going on and whats gonna happen, so here it is!

first of all: none of the ut orders have been shipped nor have labels been created just yet, reason why is because my friend and plush partner: seabun, had the excel sheet ready for the the first 50 freddy orders but hasn't fully finished organizing the ut ones just yet, "why is that?"

that's simple! we're both busy in real life and sometimes we forget haha; but most importantly; we're also two people trying to ship out more than 200+ orders to multiple folks. its a bit hard to do this without a team but we're both trying our best to get these orders out as fast as we can!

the freddys was much easier to organize and ship out since there's a few orders compared to the UT au ones!

second of all: our printer needs ink haha, ink is extremely expensive and i gotta find the right one for my pals printer to print out shipping labels.

please give us time, we promise we'll get all orders shipped out by the end of this month;;;

but also PLEASE understand that me and my friend are also human beings with real lives outside of online, seabun has work weekdays and im also working up on finishing comms and working on a project that needs to be done very soon. we're also battling personal issues and such; hence why the plushies were 'pre-orders' and me constantly saying there might be delays.

this is tough... I have a hard time looking at my art objectively so I’m not sure which inking styles resemble mine. Like so much of it is not just in the sensibility and light/shadow choices but also in the... hand. @the-east-hunter​ Honestly? I want to. I’m kind of trying to get into printing more zines/booklets because I kinda draw too much to be selling prints.. I can never fit them all on my display and no one even wants big prints anyways like so many ppl at cons tell me they don’t have space on their walls or whatever. Also I hate shipping merch, i dont like drawing chibis for charms/stickers and theres no good way to mail posters... it’s easier to ship books at least domestically through media mail. BUT formatting books is kind of tedious I have a hard time even arranging my art into photosets yet alone books. I make more fanart than original art but I need to make a LOT of fanart for a specific fandom before a book feels worth it and idk how I feel about making a multifandom book. And printing them is tough. I don’t like using online printing services but I’ve been moving too often to have a local printer I go to for books.. ANYWAYS im just musing to myself but all this to say: yes, I want to but I don’t think it’s gonna happen anytime soon. In physical form at least. Please check out my itch.io for digital pdfs though

now the next ones to be shipped are the out of state orders, which are 6 of them! paperwork needs to be done and i gotta get more ink for the printer since im very low on it!

to those who's orders have been shipped, you’ll receive an email on your order being marked as shipped and another email on USPS with the tracking information once i drop it off at the post office!

if any packages come back to me i’ll dm or email ya on how we can fix the issue and resend the order again!

I am going to go take a bath after this. I feel kind of dirty. Today was a long day. It wasnt bad at all. Just felt really long. 

I slept pretty well last night. Felt pretty cozy. James let me give him a birthday present. A nice night. 

I woke up this morning and felt pretty good. The heat had come on and being in the apartment felt pretty nice. James was feeling kind of sad and then we also are finally out of printer ink and so I cant print my shipping labels. Stressful. Itll get done but James was upset that he couldnt get it to work. But I told him it would be okay and gave lots of hugs and soon it was time to leave for work. 

I had a good drive in. We didnt have any kids until almost 10. So it was a quiet day. Dasia got there the same time as me. She had a very fluffy cropped jacket on that was super cool. 

I spent the morning sewing. Putting frogs together. I am going to take a few day frog break and make some other stuff this weekend. But I have plenty as a back catalog to post so Im not to worried. I listened to a podcast and sewed and it was nice. 

My dad called and we talked for a while. He was breaking up a little but it was nice to talk to him. I was hoping we could still do some kind of thanksgiving but its not going to happen. I just hope I can see my parents soon. I miss them. 

Eventually we had the sisters show up. But the older girl didnt even bring her laptop?? I was just baffled about what to do. I just had her read? Until I could figure out what to do. 

I had put up on my instagram about the new BIg Frog I got and asked for name suggestions. And then this morning took my favorites and had people vote on them. The final name that was decided on is Microwave Pip Maurice. Or Mike for short. A beautiful name for a beautiful frog. And the voting was fun too. I love the interaction. 

Lana called me to check in and remind me and Dasia to log our training hours. And I told her about the laptop situation and she said to use the PAL center's computer lab. But then didnt beleive me when I told her they didnt have one. And they was like is she even in the program? Magnet schools arent in the program? And I was just like. I have no idea? I have nothing to do with the registration. It was so weird. 

But eventually I was able to get an old laptop for the student and she got to do a little bit of her work but I am very worried about her being very behind her peers. I did help her sister with some math though and while she didnt 100% get it she was for sure on her way to getting it. And that felt nice to help her. 

The day was mostly just. Chill though. And the sun came out and it was beautiful. So I asked the girls to do independent work until 2 and we could go outside. And that was a really fun time. 

I brought my silk and eventually we went and got a hammock and we chilled. I think next week if its nice we could set up more then one of the hammocks. I do need to check our camping stuff this weekend because we are going camping next weekend. But also my one blue hammock wasnt in the trunk and I am worried about where that could be. I love the blue ones and will be sad if it got lost. 

We finished up the day with swings and the inside to clean up the class. These girls are super sweet and are just very quick to help clean up. Me and Dasia clocked out and off I went. 

I had seen a salad words on my way to work this morning. And so I headed there. Turned out it was inside of a grocery store. Which was perfect because I wanted to get James a birthday pie. I got my salad and the pie and some of that food coloring gel to write on the top. And headed out. 

Tried to unlock someone elses car? It was the same kind and color and I was just so confused when it wouldnt open. Was embarrassing. But no one else noticed and I got to my car and headed home. 

I was happy to be home. I had my salad. It was great. Sweetp tried to steal my roll. Fun times had by all. 

I spent some time cleaning. Just picking things up. James had vacuumed today. But I tidied up a bit more. 

I played animal crossing for a little. Laid with sweetP. I worked in the studio for a little. Took pictures for the store.  I decorated the pie for James. And now I am just ready to take a bath. I am looking forward to the two days off. And James's birthday! I hope its just an excellent day.
