what if alec and maurice moved to argentina together and ate empanadas and listened to carlos gardel and went to Plaza de Mayo that october 17th of 1945 to water their feet in the fountain and hear general Peron’s speech

tagged by @st-justt-just these are always an issue for me because i dont have a "Playlist" of any kind, i just let youtube put together playlists on my recomendations page so with that in mind, lets see what comes up.
Bradinsky on violin - [tetris tengen] by bradis fuller - funny thing about this, you may hear it and think "ah yes, a song inspired by classical russian folk music". in reality is a fully original song made by the composer. hence the BRAD-insky.
Ya te vas a mejorar (speed up) - el cuarteto de nos - i like this version of the song about a guy who gets brain damage and becomes a chainsaw murderous maniac over the original. is not quite nightcore but its certainly more energetic.
Aikendrum - Ewan Maccoll - i got this out of a cute webcomic about jekyll and hyde. i have no idea what this song is about but i sure do love the scottishness of it all. aikendrum aikendrum is a great catchphrase.
As your father i expressly forbit it - Neil cicierega - the theme of this song is so weird for a neil cicierega song. is about such a intimate, mundane topic and the double punch of this and earn my life is actually kind of brutal to hear in spirit phone.
Noches de boda - Joaquin sabina - i fucking love the intro of this song by chavela vargas, i remember when i first heard this song i thought it was some old guy but no it was one of the most famous female singers from mexico. as an argentinian there is something delightful about hearing a spaniard and a mexican singing together like old friends. great fucking song to sing drunk out of your ass at 4 in the morning
El cisne que ladra - maria elena walsh - my love for children songs continues undaunted, specially the songs by elena walsh. there is something very otherverse about this song in particular because its about a thieving swan who goes to a lake one night and steals a treasure hidden in that lake. then the next morning when the sun comes out you cant see the treasure anymore because the swan stole it but it turns out the treasure were the night stars being reflected on the lake, its just so beautifully poetic
California heaven [mashup of california girls by kathy perry and heaven by envy, plus a bunch of other songs] - Jason rollins - i just discovered this guy a few weeks ago because he just started doing this a few months ago and he turned out to be such an incredibly strong entry in the genre of weird, deep fried, dense mashups. i highly reccomend to listen to the rest of his channel
Octopus garden -the beatles - i saw a documentary about why the beatles broke up recently and knowing that this song was composed by ringo as the team was going through deep tensions and fights about to separate makes this song so much more heartbreaking. ringo just wanted for him and his friends to get along and be happy on an octopus garden beneath the sea. jesus dude, me too.
Desaparecido - Manu chao - weirdly political song for what i usually listen to. a song about the experience of illegal immigrants living in the united states without papers. one funny thing about manu chao is that he is famous for many spanish songs that talk about the hardships of the latin american experience and the guy is fucking french. i genuenly could not have been able to tell just from listening to him.
Brindo por las mujeres - Los rodrigez - just a fantastic song by one of my favourite singers from my country, andres calamero. another great fucking drinking song to yell drunk off your ass with friends at 4 in the morning and frankly a great way to end this list
honestly i am rather proud of how incredibly ecclectic is this list, i think this is a pretty good crossection of the wide range of my musical tastes
im tagging @not-terezi-pyrope @ericvilas and @mrcatfishing

PLEASE STOP FOR A SECOND TO READ AND BOOST !!!!
hiii beautiful people, im fifi aka sofía and i created a louies & harries account dedicated to argentinian fans (@larriesargentas)
the project came about because of the current situation in argentina. louis and harry inspire me every day to improve and grow as a person and mi would like to help others on their behalf as a way to show the good impact they have on the fans. In argentina the political, economic and social situation is not good, 43.4% of the argentinean population lives below the poverty line, two out of three children in argentina are poor or deprived of basic rights. i could give billions of examples of how living in this country while being economically stable is a privilege, but i don't want to depress you, let's get to the point.
"Louies & Harries Argentinas" was created with the aim of one day being as close as possible to a charity or non-profit organisation. i created the project at the beginning of september, so im still organising, looking for administrators and working and saving so that in the (hopefully near) future we can help community kitchens, animal shelters, old people's homes, etc. also, as we are aware of the bad situation of the country, we promote for free your enterprise/business/service/job so that you can find a way to survive.
we are also a fandom community that safely connects fans of the same culture and tradition to make them feel at home. we plan to stream movies, games and activities both online and on parks to have a safe place to escape the harsh realities of everyday life.
we plan many things, and im proud to say that the way things are going, many of them are going to come true. i know that many people in other countries won't care about this, but if you boost i can reach someone who needs it. ♡

Btw. Im sending this a part bc you mention having ocs. U would want to share something about them? 💕
AAAAA I'M SO HAPPY YOU ASKED ABT MY OCS, I'M SO PASSIONATE ABT THEM 😭 okay, so, I've been working since last year on a project, and it's a story about formula 1, and it accompanies three different generations of drivers: in the 80s, in the 2000s, and in the 2020s. the thing is, all of these drivers were rivals for some different reasons, and their rivalry... didn't end well. for any of them. and now, a journalist is searching about them, trying to find the connection that makes so unavoidable for these pairs to have such a tragic end. why is it a cycle and why does someone always end hurt?
so, I don't want to be annoying or anything talking too much abt them, so I'm going to talk about just of two of these 6 drivers: the first generation, from the 80s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
alejandro vélez is an argentinian driver. his family is pretty wealthy and he races go-karts since he was a small kid. he's ambitious, he's charming, he knows what he wants, and most importantly: in a world like formula 1, he has money, which is needed to buy his way into a lot of things. and he's talented! talented enough for barely being any actual competition while he races in go-karts. alejandro and his family usually spend vacations in a seaside town in brazil, and during a local go-kart competition, he ends up meeting rodrigo, a local kid. and he's so enchanted with the fact that rodrigo can pull up with him and actually compete against him in a way that's satisfying. to his luck, rodrigo's family owns a small hotel near the beach, so they're always seeing each other around, and they start a friendship. and alejandro is so happy that rodrigo can actually compete against him and make alejandro put effort into his racing that he begs his father to sponsor rodrigo so he can have a future in the sport. they pretty much grow up together, lived together when moved to europe, got into the same team as teammates... until things fell out. and oh, boy, when things fell out, they were bad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
rodrigo barbosa is a brazilian driver. he's from a low middle-class family; his parents owned a small hotel near the beach and he had an older sister. rodrigo is so proud, he has a difficult temper and acts on impulse too easily. he also has a constant resting bitch face. rodrigo was a bossy child, and he ordered people around all the time; he was kind of lonely, because no other kid wanted to play with him exactly because of his temper and his leaning to just say whatever is on his mind. he never thought of himself actually following a F1 career, because his parents simply didn't have enough money for it; it was already a big sacrifice to get him into go-kart. and then comes alejandro, and alejandro is so infatuated with him, and alejandro insists so bad to be his friend (he's kind of getting annoyed already, but alejandro is nice to him, and is actually the only kid in that beach who wants to play with him). so he just goes along the vibe, and lets alejandro sponsor his career; now, they are both south americans in formula 1, it's good that they stick together, right? specially now that they signed with the same team and are teammates! but when alejandro and their team start to neglect him, even though rodrigo is so vocal and alejandro doesn't listen, well... you already know. things fall out.
(again tysm for asking abt these silly guys, it makes me so happy skslskls 😭)

Ok, I don't know if anyone will get this, but...
ZEBEK BEING ARGENTINO
...okay, let me explain
So, im from argentina, and here I would say we are... very expresive with our emotions...
Aka we scream a lot (afectionate)
To the point that, when a football match is happening (soccer for yall fancy people), you can hear the screams of the people watching it from very long distances (we, em, get very emotional about our football)
Imagine Sebek in a stadium, he would definately be asked to leave 🤣
Also, I can't shake the feeling that Sebek is very close to his family. No matter what he says he feels for his dad, I feel like he does care about him. And Argentinians (and latino families as a whole) are very family inclined. Family is a very important part of us here: family loves you first and foremost, no matter what.
Sebek sitting with his grandfather on the steps to his house drinking mate and eating Don Satur biscuits.
We all know the Egocentric steriotype that gets placed upon argentinos... and im not about to prove you wrong-
We aren't Egocentric, per se, we are proud to be from argentina, that is all.
Me: "Man, get me out of Argentina, fr, the economy is all over the place, don't get me started on politics-"
Someone: "Yeah, Argentina fucking sucks-"
Me: "Que dijiste de mi país, hijo de puta-"
I think this would suit Sebek pretty well.
Last but not least. Sebek and the Argentinian Hymn.
That booming voice of his will for sure come in handy when singing it.
So thats it! I tried to avoid writing about any political opinions since that is a very delicate issue that im really not in the mood to discuss. I just wanted to have fun making a headcanon about a character I like sharing my nationality, and that's it.
If you are from argentina as well and have some other ideas don't doubt to tell me! (I'll admit im not that knowlegable on the pop culture references that come from argentinian TV, but I know there's a lot of it, so if you are then i really want to hear your ideas).
And if you don't share my headcanon, you don't have to! I would love to hear your own personal headcanons on where Sebek could be from! (I know the idea of Sebek being Australian has been popular recently)

For the non-US ask thingy, 7, 10, and 16? Thank you! Also dropping by to say hello! 😊
Hi to you too! how are you?
7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
Berreta (low quality), Socotroco (thing, object you dont know the name of) and Pochoclo (popcorn)
10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
Oh you could have me all day talking about Argentine swear words, but I think my favorite insult is Pelotudo(stupid), simple and to the point
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?
Omg the stereotype that i hate the most is that we are all ‘white’ or that argentina is obsessed with being white, no, we are proud to be latino but we are also proud of our European heritage, besides, there are a lot of brown and native people in argentina, so generalizing all of us as ‘white’ is kinda :/
The one that i agree kinda is that we are all a little bit too arrogant about being argentinian (especially people from the capital), we are proud and we have a bit of a superiority complex.
besides being ‘sleazy’ is kinda looked as you being smart? in our society, even though no one likes when they get fucked by someone else.  ‘viveza criolla’ (creole cleverness, a way of life about getting ahead of people by selfish means, often breaking rules and moral codes) is seen as something that we all should participate in and look out for at the same time (again this is very true for buenos aires, idk about the rest of the country im a conurbano girl uwu)

hi! this is for the queen ships! i'm 5'6, i'm argentinian (so i speak two languages), i'm a capricorn and a ravenclaw. i have black short hair, i have dark brown eyes and i wear glasses. i love to play guitar and singing and i also love to see movies! i always get good grades in school. i'm sometimes a bit shy around people but when you get to know me i'm always joking and doing stupid stuff (also, i have a pretty sarcastic and dark humor). i love the 70s & 80s music, clothing, etc. thanks!!!♡
Anon, Im so sorry this is late, ive had little free time to write anything getting ready for exams, but I bring you this & I hope you love it!!! (I wish I were bilingual)
Ya know how Brian was speaking Spanish in that one interview??
Thats cause you taught him some 10 years before that
Uni had you with enough money to buy a pack of instant noodles
So you started doing Spanish lessons for whoever wanted them at a pretty cheap price
First you only taught homeschooled kids who's parents wanted them to learn
But then a certain curly haired, tall, shy, extremely adorable, way-to-smart-and-good-at-guitar fellow called your line & scheduled a lesson
You and Brian got to week 2 before your sessions were practically dates
He was cute, which made you even more nervous/shy
You're cute which made Brian all blushy & stumbling over his English and Spanish words
But it turned out to be fantastic
Brian's a ravenclaw too btw
So you connect on that level, as well as just being overall caring people
Got to a point where you couldn't see one of you without the other
(It was really cute so no one cared)
Brian picked up on all of your silly gestures/comments which had him in a fit of laughter at inconvenient times
Brian picked up on a bit more Spanish being around you, but not much
Came in handy with the interview though, made you very proud

FROM ARGENTINA TO NEW JERSEY
Hi @taylorswift Im Agostina and this is my best friend Doyi (@deliicateeswift) and we’ll be seing you for the first time together in Jersey (night 1, section 1, row 13, seat 18/ section 1, row 14, seat 19)
Here’re some pictures of our last ten years as swifties. We fell in love with you when country music wasnt big AT ALL in Argentina, it was the era of facebook and fanclub meetings. I found a group of argentinian fans through social media, and call it faith but I found my best friend on facebook, we went to the same school and lived blocks away from each other but the only reason we met was you. I saw the thirteen written in Doyi’s hand and i knew we were gonna get along really well haha, we started going to TS meetings together, we met going to one and after that meeting Doyi came back to my house and we watched your performances in award shows all night!! Two months after that we got our first ever tattoo together: FEARLESS, that album changed our lives, you made us both stronger and helped us through our darkest moments and we cant thank you enough! Suddenly we werent alone anymore, from buying speak now together, going to a vacation that summer, going to the red buyout, to crying while listening to all too well for the first time, buying like SO MANY 1989 albums, watching the grammys together and crying our eyes out, to imagining what it would be like to have you in our country someday and get to see you perform together, to paiting our flag, to making our outfits and signs TO FINALLY TRAVELLING 8.521 KM FOR YOU, OUR QUEEN ❤ I got the chance to travel to 1989 tour, but Doyi couldn’t come cause she couldn’t afford it, but this time, after months of saving OUR BIGGEST DREAM IS COMING TRUE. We cant wait to scream, cry and sing along with you!! We’re also going with another Argentinean girl named Magui. We have never met in person but  she was scared of going so far on her own, so we invited to come with us :) (@journeytoreputationtour) We bought the tickets with her boosts in the first day!! That’s what you teach us everyday, to help each other, to make friends, to love fearless ❤. Even in our worst days, we knew we have you, your music, your inspiring words, the friends you got us, your smile. We love you so much! I even decided to get you forever in my skin and went as crazy as getting a taymoji of your face tattooed, if I wasnt the crazy Taylor fangirl before lol, now im that girl more than ever, and im so proud of it, there’s nothing that make us prouder than being Swifties! Tay, If you ever read this we hope you know you change people lives everyday, you bring people together, you make us feel like we’re not alone, you care about each one of us as friends and not fans, and if we did something right in this life it was choosing you as our idol! We hope the day we get to hug you for the first time is not that far away. Thank you for being the best thing in our life, We’ll be by your side forever&always and we mean it baby❤ @taylornation @latinswiftiesonreptour

That bisexual character written by a straight person is a mood cause this past days i've been watching this argentinian show that has a gay character (well actually like 3 BUT..) and like they introduced him as gay but then they made him be with a girl and he allegedly said he "falls in love with the person" so i was like... ok come thru str8 writing but then i thought maybe its plot device to make a comment on bisexuality but they were just like YEET and he kept calling himself gay and all the usual out and proud stuff so i was like ???? Whats the truTh you kno... but like he is with a guy right now whoMST he helped realize his sexuality and they are so... lovving and like thwy tall about marriage and living togetjer and im just Like 😩💞😩you know what i'll fucking TAKE it cause there is little to zero good representation in latin american shows about lgbt people and despite the str8 writing they treat the characters so well and its just a beautiful relationship and like 😣💗😣💗😣😣💙💜😣💜 i just want the gays to be happy and not get fucking killed or being the punchline every.single.fucking.TIME

this is very confusing to me, please excuse my question, but I would like to ask. why are greeks or italians not considered poc (aka considered to be white people) even though they have brown/dark skin and dark hair and dark coloring in general? if white-passing poc can still experience racism though they "look white", why can't italians (prevalent example seeing as many are almost indistinguishable from latinx ppl) experience racism as racism is discrimination based on skin color. thnk u ❤️ 👍
im white so....idk, personally i don't like to say that a country is %100 white. Thats what most of the latinxs say about Argentina, but that's because they never been here, and they only know white people rich enough to travel other countries/that are in the center of the country. You never see them talking about villas, asian argentinians, about the north, or the natives here. There's a lot of brown skinned people in Argentina. If u say that it's a country with only white people, you are ignoring a lot of communities and it doesn't help them at all, you are only helping the racist argies that are proud of being an "european country". This is the only topic that i would talk about because i feel like i have to talk about it, it's my country, my people. If u want a better answer, u should ask a person of color.

Women: first at the Cradle, last at the Cross
"Perhaps it is no wonder that the women were first at the Cradle and last at the Cross. They had never known a man like this Man - there never has been such another. A prophet and teacher who never nagged at them, never flattered or coaxed or patronised; who never made arch jokes about them, never treated them either as "The women, God help us!" or "The ladies, God bless them!"; who rebuked without querulousness and praised without condescension; who took their questions and arguments seriously; who never mapped out their sphere for them, never urged them to be feminine or jeered at them for being female; who had no axe to grind and no uneasy male dignity to defend; who took them as he found them and was completely unself-conscious. There is no act, no sermon, no parable in the whole Gospel that borrows its pungency from female perversity; nobody could possibly guess from the words and deeds of Jesus that there was anything "funny" about woman's nature."

Litany for International Women’s Day by Fran Pratt http://www.franpratt.com/litanies/2017/3/8/litany-for-international-womens-day
Oh God, who has created all human beings with dignity and love: We lift to you the women of the world Our mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends Worthy human beings, beloved by You. Speak deeply into the souls of women and girls today Tell them their worth, value, and strength. So many women have been dis-empowered Abused and enslaved Pushed to the margins of societies worldwide, Their voices never heard.
But you, Lord, have redeemed the lowly. You have scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts (1) You have lifted up the humble (2) The Mighty One has done great things for us (3). Even now, you are bringing justice for women, Wave upon wave over the earth. Even now women of wisdom are rising to leadership In churches, organizations, governments, and arts.
Give courage to the women working For equality and the good of their sisters and brothers. Keep them from temptation and evil. (4) And may the next generation rise up freer than the last. Amen
(1) Luke 1:51 (2) Luke 1:52 (3) Luke 1:49 (4) Matthew 6:13

Happy International Women's Day!
"Recordings by women fill the archives of Smithsonian Folkways, but we shouldn't take them for granted. Gender discrimination and gender segregation have posed considerable barriers to women's musical talent. Still, many women musicians around the world challenge traditionally held beliefs about gender and women's social status simply by playing a certain instrument or singing a certain song."
