S2 EP 20 What Was Shall Never Be - all I have in my notes for this one is "Dean Djinn Dream" which was enough for me to remember the episode and get misty eyes. This is SEASON 2 my son will never know peace.

Favorite overall characterization: Even though I didn’t pick him for any of the three, I think Grog had the most solid and consistent characterization across the batch of episodes

Overall thoughts: After these three episodes I’m really seeing the vision- giving each character focal episodes I went from skeptical in E4 to fully onboard by E6. Vex will get The Echo Tree (2x8) (possibly also the Fey Realm (2x7) with Syldor- I assume we’ll get our Lady Vex’ahlia moment then), Grog will have a Test of Pride/(2x9/2x10) The Killbox probably with some Pike focus too because Westruun. And then 11-12 will be about defeating Umbrasyl. Considering Vax and Kiki already got their big moments- the only person who misses out is Percy, who was the literal focus of Season 1 and possibly Pike, who also had a major individual story in Season 1. VERY excited to see this all play out.

- Dark Matter by Blake Crouch (14/20; solid but i personally found the emotional stakes a little weaker than could have been and was a little forgettable for me personally. A very solid novel though)

- The Employees by Olga Ravn (20/20; existential, unique storytelling structure (told thru interviews) that was thoroughly engaging, couldn’t put it down, and i go back to it every so often. It’s also a pretty short read.)

- Gideon The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir (17/20; lesbians. Usually I’m not great at reading writing that’s style is a little more “young” (I am trying to describe it without sounding disparaging), but this one was so good I almost didn’t even notice.)

- Harrowhark The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir (19/20); (Love the use of second person and the way the writing style changed. The twists were awesome. Loved the worldbuilding)

- Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao (15/20); (thoroughly enjoyed and had my eye on for awhile. Loved the main character and the concept; Wish there was more worldbuilding, but am excited for book 2. The end was craaazy. Didn’t see it coming. Part of me wants to call it a little heavyhanded at times, but then I look at the people around me and change my mind)

- Do You Dream of Terra-Two? by Temi Oh (15/20); (I tend to be biased against YA, but this was lovingly existential, and kept me engaged. Read it a while ago and remember it fondly. Very well characterized cast that unlike a lot of scifi didn’t feel like it was skimping on anyone in particular. The pacing was excellent and I am excited to look for more books by this author.)

- Time Future and Time Past by Maxine MacArthur (18/20); (Fantastically alien aliens, well thought out diplomatic relations, and utterly intriguing. Debating rereading in all honesty with everything going on lately. I hope she writes more books someday.)

- Less Than Human by Maxine MacArthur (14/20); (A little gimmicky at times as a cyberpunk novel set in Japan, but I enjoyed it pretty thoroughly. I really liked some of the worldbuilding(particularly the housing). Came together well.)

Books I Couldn’t Finish:

- The Coming of The Quantum Cats by Frederik Pohl (Trust me, just read Dark Matter by Blake Crouch instead)

- Hank Green’s Scifi Series (Wattpad grammar and somewhat condescending protagonist ontop of that (which i usually don’t mind) made me stop 30 pages in. Hank. Hank where’s your editor? Why is an entire paragraph in italics. Please, I can’t do this.

Funny story with this one. I accidentally read the first 100 pages of his second book, which made the first book more unbearable. I actually enjoyed it, and even went so far as to annotate parts of it to give to my girlfriend at the time for her to see while she read. Then I realized. And started book one. I still gave it to her because i wrote little notes for her and stuff in it but warned her lol. I tried really hard not to be a hater.)

e4: -sorry seb's "says who?" at the start of episode (in response to ferrari telling him what to do) GAGGED sets the tone for the episode PERFECTLY -mattia talks about monza the way indy drivers talk abt the 500 lmao -the whole "there is no #1 driver" bit makes me think hey r there parallels to be drawn between sebchal here and alonso/hamilton in 2007? just thinkin about it -before i get to far i want to share some thoughts: when i first watched this episode with NO prior knowledge it was rly hard to follow. after i heard about the specifics of the ferrari engine controversy (cheating), for the second watch i remember this episode suddenly clicking for me! this episode would've benefitted so much from a will buxton monologue explaining the juicy details for a newish viewer. i understand that there might have been pressure from ferrari to not include those details but it is such a shame, to have such a core piece of information missing and viewers have to try to piece together the narrative without it :/ -HI LAURA WINTER -very much get the impression that seb is like the family member who notices the generational trauma and going hey maybe we should change things to stop that and gets exiled from the family instead :) those sure are the vibes -HI CHARLOTTE -im sorry the back to back "seb has a lack of confidence with the car. and charles' car is not performing" like theyre the same car but you're gonna frame it like its seb's fault but not charles's? mattia choke -at the part where they're explaining the engine controversy--i still stand by wishing they explained it better and EARLIER because i think its much needed context for the first half of the episode too -at the end of the day all i need to know is that seb clearly thought that what ferrari did was wrong, and thats all i need to know if he says so then i believe it!! -the way netflix is trying to tease like ~oh imagine all the different teams he could go to! who wouldnt want him~ is so cheeky but also i NEED to know what this was like live when yall didnt know where he was going i'm JEALOUS i wish i got to be there for it all to unfold -double ferrari dnf at monza must've been crazy to watch live too lmao -seb zigzagging through all the photographers on his bicycle. love him -seb announcing his new seat the same weekend as ferrari's 1000th is crazy ex girlfriend levels of unhinged (pos). like posting ultrasound pics the same day as your ex's wedding type of shit. no one does it like him -sorry im incapable of watching ferrari episodes without writing an essay. hope you enjoyed

ep5: -the great daniel/cyril divorce -i cant remember who said it or where i saw it but when i first got into f1 properly someone talked about how Different things might've been if there hadn't been covid--since the season was delayed, the contract was signed before reneault could have any races with daniel that year--so daniel could only make that decision based off 2019 races -the jump clearly did not work out for him but alpine also went to shit too. but if cyril hadn't left who knows. i think all of daniel's choices make sense honestly!!!! he just got very unlucky -anyway their dynamic is insane and they deserve soooo many more fic than they have!! -"it's probably a bit like being dumped by a girlfriend, but she hasn't moved out of the house yet." christian did eat with this one. unfortunately -i love cyril but him being the one to actually complain about the pink mercedes feels very..... my wife is divorcing me so i'm gonna sue my neighbors over the property line -"i hate those fucking pink cars" oh i need to gif that. i'll be watching and i'll just KNOW like yeah that needs to be in the next gifset -i cant believe i havent mentioned it yet renault colors are the BEST daniel has ever looked i miss having yellow n black on the grid. maybe thats why alpine went to shit they gave up the best color combo they could have

e7: -pierre redemption episode!!! i think this is one of the best episodes ever tbh. very cathartic movie plotline really ticks all the boxes -HI PATRICK -ok but the fact that dts NEVER covered alex's podiums w red bull after milking the shit out of his missed podiums is a hate crime to me personally -onboards going through eau rouge are scary af. -filled with rage at how christian horner chews up new drivers and spits them up (even though its all so predictable at this point. no one will ever live up to the golden boy) -i remember seeing people complain that the williams family leaving wasn't given focus in dts, if anyone has any fun video essays about that i'd love to watch! -i do take issue with will buxton saying "red bull can't admit they made a mistake (with alex)" i think red bull made a mistake with promoting ANYONE too early and expecting too much from them, but not in a pierre v alex way. neither of them were given enough time or support by red bull to flourish. and they lowkey admitted that recently lmao -but it /is/ cathartic to know that red bull have tried to get alex back since then and he doesn't need his toxic ex in his life anymore no thanks ✌️ -i just know i'll LOVE watching this race in full -they set up the suspense so well for the end of the race -and it really is. if carlos had won this race with mclaren, his first win, how different would the trajectory of his career been -ANYWAY theres something that just always gets me about men holding all their emotions in right until they cross the finish line and they finally allow themselves to feel the emotions. jumping in for s2e4, its kind of weird that the three parter had the whole station evacuated, ends with everyone coming back, and then e4 immediately goes 'everyones evacuated' feels like perhaps this couldve been planned better. also the subtitles seem to have hanged styling now.

And if thats how Marvel plans to make Thor & Loki meet agaim, can I just say, that as much as I want a reunion of Thor & Loki... as much as I hoped & prayed that "The Sun will shine on us again" meant sth more, I dont want it to be this Loki and this Thor?

They gave us that quote, and we fans clung to it, hoping Loki just somehow survived again, but at the same time they made it PAINFULLY clear that our Loki died there, the "Scared Timeline Loki" who got all the character development, who we loved.

And then they made us wait 5 YEARS for a potential reunion of the brothers and its not even the same characters...

After Endgame we got the Loki Series, and I was so happy that a Loki got the spotlight, because if a character deserve their own show then its Loki (and Tom Hiddleston is the one and only Loki and I do trust in him because he loves this character as much as we do.)

And of course we all got attached to L1130 and Mobius and the others. And I very much love this Loki and how he got a chance at life, away from Thanos, and how he actually found friends in Mobius & Co.

And I know L1130 was shown what his fate on the "Sacred Timeline" would have been at the start of S1. How his life was "supposed" to go. He saw our Loki's Life, and the loss to come and how that Loki went from Villain to Hero, was able to mend his relationship with Thor, and then paid the price of a heroes death. And Im sure L1130 understands some of the choices our Loki did, can relate to the emotions, but he didnt live through it all....

(For example, if you were to show me "future me" making a decision, theres a chance I would maybe be able to relate or figure out why I do what I do, but theres also the possibility that I have no idea what "future me's" thought process would be because I havent lived that life yet, made the experience).

So, I guess what Im saying is, as much I love L1130, he is still a Variant, it is not our Loki, its not Thor's Loki, the brother that he knew and loved.

They are not the same brothers who need & deserve closure, they are literally from different universes, and even if I understand the sentiment of what Marvel is doing, you cant just replace one Loki with another?! At least thats how I feel...

At this point (after thinking about how and why our Loki died the way he died) I would rather have Thor meet his universes Loki in Valhalla again, instead of Thor and L1130 being thrown together.

They have completely seperate lives from each other now... Thor has a daughter, and Loki has his own life with Mobius & Co (at least I hope so after S2 E4) and I just dont know if its good to throw these two, who have nothing to do with another, together, just for old times sake...

Would Thor even believe L1130 if he told him everything or would he just be mad thinking Loki faked his death again, wouldnt that just rip old wounds open? Or would he let L1130 explain and would L1130 be able to speak for Thor's Loki, giving Thor some sort of closure? (Or will Marvel just throw them together, completely ignoring a much needed heart to heart with actual explanations in the face of a new bad villain that they have to defeat?)

There are so many possibilities and theories and after the ending of Loki S2 E4 Im just equally excited as I am scared for what they will do with the characters in the future

Time to talk about Loki S2 E4, because if I dont write down some stuff that has been floating around in my head since I saw the eoisode, I will go insane XD

THAT ENDING OH MY GOD, I really didnt THAT, and how Timely died?!?! That was so grotesquely brutal for Marvel/ Disney, same with the Renslayer and Miss Minutes using the box, like that was straight up horror...

BUT ESPECIALLY THE ENDING, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?!

Im usually not much a theory person, but with Loki I just get so invested...

But then again, Im no scientist nor am I a scifi nerd, so I have no idea what that ending means for the timelines/ multiverse.

So here are some questions that ran through my mind once the episode was over, while I was staring at a black screen, filled with a feeling I havent felt since the Snap...

Did the branches / timeline im/exploding mean everything is over? Dead? Erased?

Or Reset?

Or do all the branches flow freely now?! An unfiltered natural multiverse how it would have been without the loom?

If so, did the already existing branches stay intact?

Or did they get damaged in the blast?

Could universes have merged, like in the comics?!

And what does it mean for the characters that were "outside" of the timeline/ in the TVA?!

Did they get erased?

Or sucked back into/ scattered over the multiverse? Do they have to find each other again? Hell do they even have their memories?!

Is that how Marvel plans to have the current Thor and the Loki Series' Loki meet?!

I’m sort of excited to see what chaos they’re going to pull in tsp mainly because of how much “time” is supposed to pass (apparently) within the season. With twq the actors were at least older and could sort of pull off being the parents of adult children and twp got away with the children being children so the actors could easily play their parents. But tsp actors just seem young and if they’re going to introduce Anne in the last episode or two... idk the actors don’t feel old enough.

ohhh thats another thing, i mean honestly ruairi looks super young and charlotte also passes for a woman in her early-mid 20s with how the show has been styling her? i don’t believe gregoryverse shows ever made characters look older via make up like the tudors did w h8 and charles brandon (except i think in twq in ep8 before e4 died he had a beard and a pillow for a beer belly?? i could be wrong tho) but who knows, maybe that’ll change?

the constant princess ends with catherine’s speech at blackfriars - now tsp wasn’t a super accurate adaptation so far but that really is probably the best moment to end a show about coa before her death, so if thats where they’re going s2 should cover almost 20 years
