- Idk why but positive words hurt me the most, like when someone says I’m their favorite person in the world only to not mean what they said actually makes me cry a little, but what makes me the most sad is knowing when someone is there for me that I can tell everything in the world too. Just them hugging me makes me feel that.

- I got into anime bc one of my past fav youtubers was into it and so I watched it. I basically started w the YouTube starter pack but actually started w magical girl animes (like Tokyo mew mew (the one she watched) and glitter force) then I drifted to miss kobayashi’s dragon maid to shonen animes

- No thoughts, head empty

- My music taste is probably the average anime tiktoker, like I listen to everything but reverbed and slowed Or in Lo-fi like, Lemon Boy and Me and My Husband but my favorite song to listen to in reverb is Daisy

- I kin music, like it might be weird idc but I do like the beats that are happy but also unsettling? I kin those. Like Not Allowed by tv girl? The part that goes “ALL BY YOURSELF, SITTING ALONE. I HOPE WE’RE STILL FRIENDS YEAH I HOPE YOU DONT MIND” and just loops is the best part to me. “Kaiwa ga tsuzukanai na? Naze da dou shite da? Aho ka?” From to prob the rest of the song of Pretty cvnt by sewerslvt idk I haven’t listened to the full song lmao but the actual meaning of the lyrics don’t matter tho so just know I probably don’t rlly care to look up w that means so it doesn’t ruin it for me ;-;

- I’m a extrovert (:OOO OMG THOSE EXIST) yeah I exist 😩 it’s real easy for me to walk up to someone and start talking since I’m really open about myself and don’t bother to hide things... (except the stuff like y’know... reading fanfics cuz no sane person is gonna go to a random person like “I LIKE READING FANFICTION!” Like I’d probably scared of u now if I was a normie.

- I don’t like being told I’m wrong if I know for a fact I’m right. Like if I say the sky is green and you say the sky is blue I’ll be perfectly fine with that but if you question my intelligence in levels other than that like for a fact from an anime I really like and call me out for being dumb bc I said one thing wrong for example I say “kuroos fav food is grilled salted-mackerel pike” or “itadori’s type are girls like jennifer Lawrence and I find that funny” and you say “no thats stupid” I’m going to call you and scream at you or fight you on sight next time I see you there are no other options. Jk I’ll only threaten you w those and never do it bc I prob love u too much and just give you facts from a easy google search

- Bruh people need to love themselves more like how will you ever love other people if you don’t know how to love yourself? You should always love yourself first before learning to love others because why would you wanna spend your life hating yourself? You’re gonna be with yourself for the rest of your life, even when you’re dead when you really think about it.

- My sleep schedule is chaotic

- I view myself as a good person, but on a chart of chaotic good to lawful evil, I’m probably the most neutral person you’ll ever meet. And I’m genuinely like that. I abide by my own laws. The government doesn’t tell me what’s wrong but neither am I truly against it. I don’t do things like steal but I’ll run in the halls to get to where I need to go or be on my phone during class (most likely with permission because I’m always reading on my phone) that’s why I’m my hero academia and shows the have good and evil bro wtf? Imma be in the middle. I truly think myself as someone you can trust to keep a secret and help when needed but I won’t spy for you on the other group and rat you out. First person that asks I’ll prob help if it’s not hurting someone (most likely bc I’m prob naive and the way you word something like let’s say you asked me to go to a bank to make a deposit or something and now all a sudden come out with money bags like HUHHHHHHHHH? I THOUGHT YOU WERE MAKING A DEPOSIT NOT MAKING AN ILLEGAL WITHDRAWERY WITH ALL THEIR MONEYYYY? (Like my friends and I literally joke about this.) Now all a sudden I’m a getaway driver cause god knows I can’t trust the police with my life😩😩 tfw someone makes you rob a back w/o you knowing✊😔)

The sound of his doorbell ringing relentlessly finally annoys Noctis into waking up, grumbling as he slides out of bed. He finds his friends on the other side of his door, them smiling and looking at him with intrigue.

“You both are jerks for ditching me.” Noctis snaps and then yawns.

“Aw, don’t be like that,” Prompto chuckles and slings an arm around his shoulder as they head inside, then gives a wink. “I bet you still had a good time without us there, maybe met someone nice?”

He did, but wait, does that mean-

“I brought you some hotcakes I made this morning.” Ignis says and hands him a Tupperware container.”

“Oh, thanks Iggy.” Noctis grabs a fork and stands against his counter, digging in and looking to his friends, them staring again with intrigue. “What?”

“So tell us, what’d you do after we left? Did you meet anyone new by chance?”

Noctis furrows his brows. His stomach begins to knot and a pang of dejection washes over him. Gladio hadn’t come over to him of his own volition, he was asked to. But something didn’t add up, he hasn’t told his friends yet that his preferences lean towards men. Hell, he just realized only a few months ago after falling hard for a male teacher he assisted. So how and why was Gladio chosen?

The black-haired man sighs while shaking his head then gives them a pointed look before taking another bite. “Yeah, I did. Guess that was your doing?”

“Oh come on bud, don’t be mad. We just wanted you to have some fun.”

“I don’t need you two to set me up on pity dates.”

“I’m sorry Noct. We thought it would help you out.” Ignis says, looking a tad remorseful. “You’re terribly shy and don’t leave our sides when out.”

“Yeah! You get really awkward and standoffish around people” Prompto chimes in.

“Plus she’s a nice young lady, just started as a receptionist at my office.”

Noctis freezes. She? The person they tried hooking him up with was a woman? So then Gladio wasn’t asked to flirt with him. He liked him for himself. This makes Noct grin smugly.

“Huh, guess you guys were wrong about me then.”

“Wait, so you met someone else?” the blonde asks, eyes widening comically. “Dude, who? Was she hot?”

“Not telling.”

“Aw, don’t be a jerk.”

“So you didn’t meet with Jessenia? Oh dear, I’m going to have to write her an apology note then. Maybe some flowers, box of chocolates too.” the glasses-wearing man says and puts a reminder on his phone.

“Come on Noct, don’t leave your bros hanging. Tell us what she was like, did you get her number? Are you two meeting up again.” Prompto asks and nudges his friend.

“Again, not telling.”

Prompto lets out an overblown whine as Ignis goes stonefaced like he’s deep in thought. Then a subtle bit of irritation flashes onto his face before his stoic mask is back on.

“It’s a man, isn’t it?”

“Wha?” Is Prompto’s reaction, looking between his two friends.

Noctis stops eating, his face turning a deep red color and eyes down-turning to the floor. Leave it to Ignis to somehow ass pull the correct assumption even though he’s usually terrible at reading the atmosphere.

He sighs and sets the container down, knowing he’s going to end up losing his appetite after the incoming barrage.

“Yeah.”

“What? Noct are you- Umm- So you're uh.” Prompto stutters before shaking his head, looking slightly hurt at his friend. “Why didn’t you tell us?”

“I- I really only discovered it recently myself. I thought that maybe it was just a one-time feeling but the guy I met last night, we had a connection. Sorry, I should have said something sooner.”

The blonde smiles and softly knocks his friend in the shoulder with his fist. “It’s all right dude, just next time talk to us about it. Right, Iggy?”

“Uh, yes, sure.” the man says, shifting about then giving a friendly smile. “We will always support you Noct, even if the information is, surprising.”

“Thanks, you guys.”

“So now that is out,” Prompto begins and nudges his friend like before. “what did he look like?”

Noctis chuckles softly. “As cliche as it is he was tall, dark, and handsome. Really nice too, we played pool and chatted for a while.”

“What’s his name? Does he work? Where does he live?” Ignis grills the younger man.

Noct can’t help but roll his eyes. “His name is Gladio, he works at a bookstore, and lives with his parents but is saving money to move out. He said they’re really strict.”

“How old is he?”

“Early to mid-twenties, I believe.”

The sandy-haired man’s eyebrows arch up. “And he lives with his parents still?”

“Iggy, I lived with my dad until I was twenty. Enough with the interrogation.”

“Just worried about you, you don’t know who this young man really is. For all you know he could be a prostitute or a thief preying on naive people.”

“Jeez, thanks Igs.” Noctis huffs. “If he was any of those, wouldn’t he have tried to come home with me last night?”

“That’s true.” Prompto says and gives Ignis a nudge. “Cut him some slack, this guy may actually be genuine and bring our awkward dork out of his shell.”

“Wow, I feel so loved.”

“Very well. So what do you have planned for the day?”

“Pick up my pants and blazer from the dry cleaners. Then I’m going to go over the syllabus’ for my classes tomorrow.”

“I see. Would you like for me to come over then and help you look over it? I can make us dinner?”

“You don’t have to, besides today is your day off since you got dragged in yesterday. Enjoy it and lounge around your apartment, be lazy.”

“That is a waste of time when I could be doing something fruitful.”

“And that is why you got an ulcer.”

Ignis sighs and shakes his head. “Fine, I will try to relax.”

“Well, I think it’s time for me to scoot.” Prompto says and flashes a big smile at his friend. “Congrats buddy, hope things work out for you, I mean it.”

“Thanks, Prompto.”

“I should be leaving as well, need to stop by the grocer, running low on Ebony. Have a splendid day Noct.”

“You too, see ya.”

The two men begin to leave but Ignis stops and turns back around at his friend, staring intently at his face.

“I do hope you plan on shaving, it wouldn’t be professional for you to look unkempt on your first day.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know.” he says and waives his friend off.

Noctis sighs and leans against his island counter, shaking his head. While it wasn’t how he had planned coming out if it proved to be true, at least it wasn’t as bad as he thought. Although there is still his father. He tosses the container into the sink and looks at his wallet, seeing a white note sticking out of it. Gladio’s number. Should he possibly try to call him? No, he may be in trouble if his parents are as strict as he said and Gladio did say to call him later. He does wonder though if he is all right, he seemed nervous when he said his parents were coming for him. Maybe he should- no, he’ll wait.

So Noct gets going for the day, taking a quick shower, then gets dressed and starts to head out. He glances at the note again, feeling a fluttering sensation in his belly and his chest become tight.

While out, he finds that his mind constantly wanders back to the young man, especially when he catches a glimpse of someone tall with brown hair or hears a deep rumbling laughter. Noct feels ridiculous, like a love-struck teen who can’t wait to see their crush after being away from them for a day. He tries to clear his head however when he arrives at the dry cleaners, he sees a bookstore down the street, remembering that Gladio works at one and should be there. Would it seem stalkerish if he stopped by to see if Gladio worked there?

Throwing caution to the wind, Noctis heads into the bookstore after picking up his items, scouring about but not finding the young man and then learning from a clerk Gladio didn’t work there. A bit downtrodden, he heads back to his car and goes to leave, but stops and looks at his phone. Maybe he could see if there were any other bookstores nearby, he could check them out, see if the young man is there and find out how he is doing.

Well, there is apparently way more bookstores then he initially thought and there was no way he could stop at them all. That would be too stalkerish and a waste of gas. So he decides to just check out the closet ones and if Gladio is not at any of them he’ll just leave it at that. He does really want to see him again though so he hopes for the best. Not at the first, nor the second, or the third. Noctis sighs deeply as he sits outside the fourth, a quaint little bookstore that isn’t like all the chain stores with their bland decorum while trying to be hip with the younger generation.

Noctis heads inside and gets a strong earthy scent along with a hint of flowers; the smell reminds him of Gladio. His heart begins to pound in his chest and he begins trembling from nerves. A female clerk walks by and smiles at him, before greeting the older man.

“Hi, anything I could help you with today?”

“Oh umm, b, by chance is there a uh, a young man named Gladio that works umm here?” he says, trying to act normal and not like a flustered dork.

The young woman gives him a once-over, then goes wide-eyed and smiles. “Just a second.” she says and scurries off to the back.

Noctis can feel his chest tighten, he becomes sweaty and nervous. Then the man steps out from the backroom. It’s like one of those cheesy scenes in the movies where the main character’s love interest enters the room and everything around them freezes while they continue to move, all the attention focused on them. But then Noctis feels his heart drop as Gladio looks at him; he doesn’t look at him with annoyance or disgust, he has a soft smile on his face along with woe. One of his cheeks was bruised and swollen like he had been hit. Despite that, Gladio still gives him that sweet look like he had the night before, making Noctis cheeks heat up.

“Hey, fancy meeting you here.”

“Yeah, I was in the area so I uh stopped in.” Noctis says and chuckles embarrassedly. “See if you by chance worked here.”

“Huh, lucky guess. Must be fate.” Gladio says and flashes a flirty look at the older man.

Noct feels his heart thump rapidly. “Yeah.” He looks up at the young man and smiles before furrowing his brows, reaching his hand up to cup his swollen cheek. “Were you hit?”

“Oh, that? No, I got angry and slammed my door shut, it knocked a plaque I had hanging over the frame down. Dumbass me just stood there and watched it fall before it thwacked me on the face.”

Noctis frowns. He doesn’t believe him, he’d seen similar things and heard similar excuses from kids being abused. But Gladio wasn’t a kid, so it’s not like he could call child services. So he dejectedly lets it go.

“So how badly are you grounded? No tv or phone?”

“No dessert too.” Gladio snorts. “It wasn’t too bad, just a lot of yelling and door slamming. Plus I have to stay at my mother’s on the weekends since my dad is at work and can’t ‘babysit’ me.”

“You really do need to get your own place, that sounds horrible.”

“Yeah, in time.” he says and bites his lip. “So I uh get done in a couple hours, would you maybe wanna get a bite to eat with me?”

“Are you even allowed too?”

“Yeah, my mom lets me have a bit more freedom then my dad does. Plus I usually get something to eat on my way home so if I’m late she doesn’t fuss.”

“Ah, okay. Where would you like to meet up?”

“There’s a diner by the bus stop down a few blocks, that sound good?”

“Yeah, sounds great.” Noctis says and smiles as his cheeks rosy. Then a thought strikes him. “Oh, since you’re staying at your mother’s on the weekend, I can give you my number then.”

“Sure. I can use the house phone so my calls can’t be monitored by my dad.”

Noctis quickly scribbles his number down onto the back of a receipt he had stuffed into his pocket and hands it over, exchanging bashful smiles. They say their goodbyes with Gladio heading back to work and Noct deciding instead of going all the way back home he’ll kill time by putzing around the nearby mall. Maybe he’ll look into some new ties while there.

An hour goes by and his phone begins to vibrate, an unknown number flashing across his screen. He’s apprehensive at first but answers it anyway.

“Hello?”

“Oh! Awesome! So you didn’t give me a fake number.” Gladio chuckles from the other end. “Hey uh, business is kinda slow so Karis is letting me leave early. Wanted to let you know I’m heading over, if you don’t mind eating around five.”

“That’s fine, I’ll stop by and pick you up. I’m over at the mall.”

“Yeah, okay, see you then.”

A wave of giddiness overcomes him. He hasn’t felt this excited since his early twenties when he and his then-girlfriend went out for the first time. That was the last time he dated or felt attracted to a woman. She broke his heart badly. Hopefully, it ends up better this time around.

Noctis finds Gladio waiting outside the bookstore and picks him up, them bantering awkwardly and flirtatiously as they head to the diner. But as they arrive, the younger man’s face goes white, his eyes widen and he bites his lower lip before quickly shifting his large frame out of sight.

“Shit.”

“Gladio? What’s wrong?”

“My fucking stepmother is there with my sister and stepbrothers.”

Noctis furrows his brows and looks through the large windows of the diner, spotting a middle-aged woman with three kids. He looks down at Gladio and catches the slight look of fear and brokenness in his eyes along with his panicked breathing, it making Noct’s stomach turn for some reason he can’t quite put his finger on. Without a word, he puts the car in reverse and drives away but Gladio remains in his hunkered over position, his breathing still frantic. In a move that would send Ignis into a tizzy, he pulls one hand away from the steering wheel and gently touches Gladio’s cheek before petting his hair. This seems to do the trick and his breathing returns to normal before sitting back up with a sigh.

“Gladio?” Noct asks with deep concern.

“Sorry, I have bad anxiety. I was afraid she’d catch us together.”

Noctis looks to him with remorse and gently rests his hand against his face again. “You want to go someplace else or do you want me to drop you off at your mother’s?”

“If, if it’s alright with you,” Gladio begins and turns to look at him, his amber eyes looking harrowed. “could we stop someplace secluded? I want to cool my head before I go home, I’ll give you gas money too.”

“You don’t have to give me money, I’ll do it. I used to take this one kid out for ice cream after school because he didn’t want to go home until his mother got done with work. Found out the neighbor that was watching him had been touching him inappropriately.”

“Ah, you sound like one of those do-gooders you read about it the paper.”

Noctis smiles. “Yeah, I like helping people. Even though I get really shy and flustered at first, I still try my best.”

“Wish there were more people like you out there in the world, maybe it wouldn’t be so rotten.”

Noct quickly glances at Gladio, noticing the pained look on his face. A thought pops into his head that would kill two birds with one stone. “Hey, I live not far from here. Why don’t we stop at my place and I’ll order out. That way you can clear your head.”

A soft blush forms on the brunette's cheeks. “Oh, yeah, that sounds good.”

Noctis continues to drive until he arrives at the carport for his apartment complex, shutting the vehicle off though neither exits right yet.

“Hey, thanks Noctis.” Gladio says and looks over at the black-haired man, smiling fondly. “Seems my gamble going and talking to you last night didn’t end in a mess.” His smile grows into one of teasing. “Or my dead corpse dumped in the river.”

“You thought I could’ve been a serial killer?” Noctis laughs.

“Hmm, people never suspect the cute ones.” Gladio’s eyes half lid as he looks at the older man, a sliver of a pink tongue swiping across his dry lips. “Hey umm, Noct?”

“Hmm?”

“Can I, can I kiss you?”

The thirty-year-old’s heart pounds in his chest and his body begins to tremble. Kiss? He hasn’t kissed anyone in years, not since his girlfriend. Will he still any good at it? Is Gladio teasing him? Is it too soon? Should he say no, that he wants to wait? His mind continues to race, even as his body begins moving on its own, leaning towards the young man who tilts his head.

Their lips brush momentarily before pressing them together in a tender kiss. It feels exhilarating and he wants more. Noctis rests his palms against Gladio’s cheeks, deepening the kiss that becomes needy and carnal, large tan hands gripping him around his waist. Tongues explore about in each other's mouths and dance about together, soft moans escaping out until Noct gasps when he gets cupped through his pants.

Blue eyes stare deeply into brown, both filled with lust, as the two pant quickly and continue to hold each other. Noctis is the first to pull back, opening his door and stepping out but he pulls Gladio with him, then he pins him to the side, capturing his lips once again as the younger man runs his hands down his back before gripping his ass. Noctis pulls back once again, their lips separating and making a loud smack, and takes hold of Gladio’s hand leading him towards the elevator. He has never done anything like this before but the feelings he’s experiencing are intoxicating and he wants more, wants to feel the pleasure of doing something scandalous. Taboo.

So on Friday, April 5th 2019

I’m on Ust having some drinks, right?

I’m saying hi to people and shit, then end up running into and old friend I used to hangout with:

David Boyd

After a couple of drinks, he asks if I want to trip at one of his friends house “she an old lady, she got a cool ass crib and she got gas”

So I accepted his offer cuz I was originally going to let the night unravel on it’s own and it didn’t sound like such a bad idea at the time

So we get there and I meet this 60 year old lady, Robin Walker Salas - blue hair, top row gold grill and “ride or die chick” tatted on the back of her neck

So I sit down on her couch and start watching skate videos

I get 3 drops of acid from her in a vile and let it start kicking in and Dave does the same

She suggested that I take my jacket off cuz I’m going to end up getting REALLY hot and started laughing with Dave

Which was a joke they said a couple of times

(At first I didn’t know what they meant, but they were implying that I was going to end up in Hell)

After it starts kicking in, they suggest we hit the rooftop cuz her place was limiting and the roof was like a whole block long

So I was down cuz I don’t like tripping indoors anyway

So she gives me this coat with nice fur and takes me on a tour, showing me the cool visible parts of the city, telling me not to be afraid of my true potential and that I can obtain everything I want...I was feeling pretty good about it until I realized she wasn’t speaking in general

She then grabs my hand and tells me to look at this red wall while we walk to the other side

(Little did I know, she put me under a spell that only works while I’m in a trip...and these spells are telepathic contracts, which are enticing, triggering your curiosity on what happens once it’s complete and it just feels like a part of the trip you’re supposed to let ride out

But every time I almost let it ride out, I could feel my soul begin to leave me)

She told me “this is where dreams become reality” and I began seeing holographic outlines of people in the wall

And then seeing myself begin to blend into the wall if I stared longer and I snapped out of it because my heart began to panic

She laughs and says “damn, almost!”

And that’s when I start questioning shit for real

But I’m like “let me not start wylin for no reason, I am trippin after all...”

Still though, she tries again and tells me to look at how high up we are as she gestured for me to look down from the rail

As if I didn’t already know, but I go cuz I didn’t want to be rude

I grab the rail and look

Then Dave says “don’t let go” while my hand began to slip

Then he gave me this wide-eyed look with a smile that said “you see it, don’t you?”

And my vision was about to go black until I snapped out of it and backed up “like what the fuck is going on? Are y’all up to something?”

As I turn around to see Dave behind me trying to hide his hands

But of course they deny it and say I’m losing it...

I still didn’t want to believe I was in this kind of mess, but I’d be naive to let all that slide so easily

So with caution, I’m trying to plan my escape

She then lifts her phone and says “listen to these different frequencies, it can change your mood”

And I wasn’t trying to listen because I needed to get out of there

And out of nowhere hear a hidden dialect with a demonic voice in it (back masking, but they did it then and there)

I was like “huh!?”

Then Dave was like “oh, you heard that?”

I looked away and acted oblivious, because I felt that if they knew I could hear them

They’d get rid of me immediately

And Dave laughed, saying to Robin “wait, he still don’t know what this is yet?”

So I just got up and was like “damn, I gotta go home dawg” and they started laughing and were trying so hard to keep me there...

Dave was like “you already ‘bouta do it, it’s better this way anyway”

And then he was like “look at my hands, this shit trippy” and created an infinity symbol with his waving hands and did the baphomet pose, flipping his hands and head perfectly in a stiff dance

Which then caused me to see the baphomet’s true face

Then they began revealing themselves, saying that they were angels and that they were here before us...

Like, they were having normal conversation from what I could regularly hear and out of nowhere, like I was tuning through a radio, I hear screeching static kind of like a dinosaur roar and begin to tap into their collective conscious conversation - essentially telepathy

Dave was like “he can’t hear us in this plane” while casting more spells on me...

And every time I would look at them, I would catch something different

I glanced and saw the old lady blink with her inner sideways eyelids

They were hexing me with different hand signs

Trying to weaken and hypnotize me to catch me slip in a telepathic contract

Which felt like I was was going to enter the sunken place, but with fire...

And that’s when I was like “okay no, this is exactly what I think it is - I’m gone”

And before I grab the door to get to the elevator

Dave says “okay, you gon be waiting on that elevator forever”

(Because once the spell is on, it’s like a shadow realm that you can’t leave until it’s off - I know this now because he would always ask her if it was okay to go step out every now and then)

“This is a REAL trip” he said

And in my head, I heard “followed by an everlasting fall”

“Guess you gon think twice about taking LSD again, huh?”

I was thinking in my head “fuck, did I really already lose my soul? Did they win?”

Then from there, every time I felt them almost seal the deal, I would feel a hungry fire approach me from behind and get a blurred vision of me being swallowed by fire and not dying

And I was like “wait, what? No!”

And yelled at them “Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior!”

Shortly after, Dave nonchalantly says “okay, you do that...that n***a died a long time ago”

I look at him with disgust, turn away and continue to pray

Telling God that He would never abandon His children if they encountered evil and that if there was a way for Him to save me to do it...

Dave says that I’m blowing his trip and leaves to the gas station

(At this time I didn’t know I was able to leave too, but I still didn’t want to be in an elevator with him)

So as I’m praying, I get louder and begin to feel that dark grip they had on my heart, loosen up like my heart began pumping electricity at it

And I felt Him in my heart like a torch in a cave and knew I was able to win, I just had to leave now

So after Dave is on his way back, Robin announces it and says let’s go get him and that’s when I hear Dave say, not yell, “open up” and I was amazed...I was like “wait, can he hear me?”

And he said “DUH, omg you some shit” and continues on his way

So she says let’s go get him and if I was going to leave, it was going to be at that time

And in the elevator she tries trancing me again and I’m like “nope, Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, you demon!”

As I try not to look at her the whole way down to the lobby...

Once the elevator door opens, I see Dave mean mugging towards me behind a wall as he’s approaching us and then when he sees my face, he smiles and says “oh, you’re good!?”

And I was like “hell yeah, I am” and while I’m walking towards the exit, he says “that’s not the way out”

And I say “fuck it, I’m gone, man...”

I finally open the door and do a little jog to get away, but when I turned around...I see he decided to follow me

So once I make a turn I start to KICKKK it

From the bottom of Ust to the top of Adams Morgan

My body wanted to give out most of the way, but my soul wouldn’t let me

And the whole time, he was chasing me without breaking a sweat

And even if he was 3 blocks down talking regularly saying “you’re acting like a bitch, come back dawg”, I would feel static on top of my head and could hear him perfectly as if he was next to me

I was completely in tune at that point

We could tell where each of us were, just by tapping in

So hitting any cuts wasn’t going to work

I just had to keep booking until I found a taxi

Which I eventually did

And Dave finally catches up yelling “you look like an unk right now!” cuz 4 taxis stopped for me

So I’m like “I don’t give a fuck, I made it out alive!”

And tell the taxi driver to get me out of there and gave him my address

Got home, on my knees and wrung myself out of tears to Christ

Afraid to sleep because I knew they could contact me in my dreams

So I didn’t sleep until the shit wore off in the afternoon the next day...

Mind you, I’m no stranger to tripping

I’ve done it at least 20 times, but this was something else...

I’m so grateful to still be alive, because I’m 1000% sure I’d be in Hell if slipped in the contract for just one second

It was like I was tiptoeing on a needlepoint

Justice Department hasn’t interviewed key Russia probe witnesses

But in the five months since Attorney General Bill Barr tapped Durham to investigate the origins of the Russia probe, and whether any inappropriate “spying” occurred on members of the Trump campaign, he has not requested interviews with any of the FBI or DOJ employees who were directly involved in, or knew about, the opening of the Russia investigation in 2016, according to people familiar with the matter.

The omission raises questions about what, exactly, Durham—alongside Attorney General Bill Barr—has been investigating.

Those not contacted include former FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok; former FBI general counsel Jim Baker; former chief of the National Security Division’s Counterintelligence and Export Control Section David Laufman; and former head of DOJ’s National Security Division Mary McCord. Former CIA Director John Brennan, Trump-Russia dossier author Christopher Steele, and former Trump adviser Carter Page—who was the subject of a surveillance warrant that is now under investigation by the inspector general—haven’t been contacted for interviews, either.

Combined with reports that Barr has traveled with Durham internationally seeking evidence from the U.S.’s closest intelligence allies, Durham’s apparent lack of interest in the FBI at this point suggests that he and Barr are focusing on examining the intelligence community’s role in the Russia probe—and, in accordance with Trump’s desires, looking at whether the help provided by U.S. allies in the Russia probe, including the U.K., Italy, Australia and Ukraine, may itself have constituted foreign interference.

Former attorney general Michael Mukasey, whose son Marc represents the Trump Organization and is a longtime confidant of Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, recently speculated in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed that Durham may be trying to determine whether “Federal Bureau of Investigation tried to get evidence from Ukrainian government officials against Mr. Trump’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort, to pressure him into cooperating against Mr. Trump.” Mukasey also noted that, according to a recent Justice Department statement, “certain Ukrainians who are not members of the government have volunteered information to Mr. Durham, which he is evaluating.”

The new revelations about Barr and Durham’s work and travels also present the clearest contrast yet to the Justice Department’s internal investigation into the Russia probe origins, led by the DOJ’s inspector general and focused on the FBI’s conduct. That probe remains ongoing.

“The question Durham and Barr now seem to be asking is, ‘How was this information fed to the bureau in 2016?” said one former FBI official. “That’s distinct from what the IG has been looking at, and seems to indicate that their theory now is the FBI itself was duped by the intelligence community and its overseas partners.”

A tweet sent out by Republican Sen. John Cornyn on Friday suggested that the inquiry is also broader than has been reported. “Now, the Trump Justice Department is investigating foreign government influence, VP Biden conflicts of interest, and possible corruption,” he wrote, referring to Vice President Joe Biden. But a Cornyn aide said the senator meant to say “that the Durham investigation could end up also looking at the Bidens,” not that it already was. The Justice Department declined to comment.

In his phone call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25—which Trump’s national security team delayed for months because they were wary of how Trump’s fixation with conspiracy theories surrounding the origins of the Russia investigation would be reflected in the call, according to former officials—Trump asked Zelensky to do him a “favor” by looking into Ukraine’s role in the 2016 election, and suggested he connect with Barr “to get to the bottom of it.”

Trump also asked the newly elected leader to investigate Biden and his son, who sat on the board of directors of an oil and gas company that at one point was investigated by Ukraine’s top prosecutor. Ukrainian officials on Friday announced a fresh review of why that probe was shut down.

The Justice Department has denied that Barr received any instructions from Trump to work with the Ukrainians on a Biden investigation. But Barr’s reported personal involvement in Durham’s probe suggests the attorney general has been more closely overseeing an inquiry of deep importance to the president than was previously believed.

Durham, for his part, appears to have trained his focus on the intelligence community, reportedly seeking interviews with the CIA analysts who drew conclusions about Putin’s motivations in 2016. Trump’s allies have been fixated on the question of how the intelligence community determined that Russia intervened specifically to help Trump win rather than to just sow chaos and distrust in the Democratic process. Some accounts have suggested that the intelligence community had a human asset in Putin’s inner circle, though others have indicated that the U.S. used signals intelligence to intercept conversations among Russian officials.

As POLITICO first reported, that question has already been asked and answered at the CIA’s highest levels — by Mike Pompeo, a Trump loyalist. Just after Pompeo took over as CIA director in 2017, he conducted a personal review of the CIA’s findings, grilling analysts on their conclusions in a challenging and at times combative interview, people familiar with the matter said. He ultimately found no evidence of any wrongdoing, or that the analysts had been under political pressure to produce their findings.

George Papadopoulos, another Trump campaign adviser who has repeatedly declared that the entire FBI investigation was a setup by Western intelligence services including the British, Australians, Italians and CIA, twice declined to comment when asked whether he’d been interviewed by the prosecutor.

Papadopoulos pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to the FBI about his own contacts with a Russian-linked professor named Joseph Mifsud, who told Papadopoulos in the spring of 2016 that the Russians had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton in the form of thousands of her emails.

That disclosure, which was relayed to the FBI by an Australian diplomat who heard about it from Papadopoulos, is what the FBI has said spurred its initial counterintelligence investigation into Trump campaign associates with links to Russia. But Papadopoulos has claimed, without evidence, that Mifsud was actually a plant, sent by Western intelligence officials to entrap him and give the FBI an excuse to open an investigation.

Mifsud’s whereabouts remain unknown. But Barr reportedly asked Trump to solicit the Australians’ help in the investigation. And he and Durham recently traveled to Italy to investigate the events that led up to Mueller’s probe—and, as part of that, to reportedly hear a taped deposition Mifsud gave on the subject months ago.

For months, President Donald Trump’s allies have been raising expectations for prosecutor John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the Russia probe, predicting that he will uncover a deep state plot to stage a “coup” against the president.

Durham “is looking at putting people in jail,” Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told Fox News host Sean Hannity in July. Republican Rep. Jim Jordan said Durham is about to unleash “a pile of evidence” that will “debunk” everything House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff has proclaimed for “the last two years.”

“Stuff is going to hit the fan” when Durham is done “investigating the investigators,” said Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera. “If indictments are warranted, U.S. Attorney John Durham will be bringing them,” wrote conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt.

McDonald’s flips fortunes with back to basics approach

It is the “dead zone” lull between lunch and dinner, yet McDonald’s is bustling with customers tapping their orders on huge screens. The Chicago store is acting as a blueprint for an overhaul of the world’s biggest fast-food chain in its biggest market. A glass case displays freshly baked apple pies and croissants. Smiling employees, dressed all in black, carry trays of burgers and fries to minimalist tables. “It doesn’t even smell like a McDonald’s,” says a colleague.

When asked why he is spending $2bn to remodel thousands of US restaurants to mimic this one, Steve Easterbrook, McDonald’s chief executive, is interrupted by a customer who asks for his Instagram handle. “You have IG, right?”, he shouts, waving his iPhone. He is an aspiring photographer looking for social media followers, and his question answers mine — this is the consumer the 62-year-old burger chain is chasing.

Mr Easterbrook, a soft-spoken British accountant, has worked at the fast-food chain the more than two decades. He took over in 2015 charged with reviving its reputation and regaining some of the half a billion customer orders it had lost in the US since 2012 and made it his mission to reinvent McDonald’s as a “modern, progressive burger company”.

It is a phrase he used with investors when he first took the top job a month after the company reported its first annual drop in same-store sales in the US in 12 years. At the time observers declared the company, which helped define American diets, had lost its identity. Mr Easterbrook repeated the words throughout subsequent earnings calls.

“That was sort of their North Star,” says Sara Senatore, an analyst at Bernstein. A former employee is more blunt, describing it as a “cliché phrase” that could mean “anything and everything”.

However vague the plan remains, it does appear to be working. It is a challenging time for the US restaurant business. The industry has seen “little to no” growth in visits to restaurants in the past two years, according to market researchers NPD Group, while trade publication QSR declared last year the worst for restaurants since the financial crisis, after sales dropped sharply in the second half of the year. Grocery price deflation has made a stronger case for cooking at home, and a glut of restaurants has given people more choice if they do decide to go out.

But after four years of shrinking traffic, McDonald’s this summer lured people back through its doors, posting a rise in customer visits in the second and third quarters. Comparable sales rose between 4 and 7 per cent each quarter this year. Investors have lauded Mr Easterbrook’s progress: the company’s share price has soared 70 per cent to $168 since he took over. The makeover has already been rolled out in much of Europe, with about one-third of French and German restaurants having been remodelled.

McDonald’s feeds nearly 70m people every day, making the tale of how it dug itself out of “staggering” customer losses a case study for the business of eating. McDonald’s executives insist the success is built on a return to low prices and convenience, rather than chasing the whims of diners. With $25bn in annual sales and one of the most recognisable brands, the odds were in its favour to stage a comeback. But the way in which McDonald’s achieved it came as a surprise even to its own bosses.

Back in 2014 the prevailing wisdom was that McDonald’s was being dethroned by new rivals such as Chipotle Mexican Grill, in a sector dubbed “fast casual”. These outlets emerged after the financial crisis with price points a few dollars higher than traditional fast food, but with a perception that the food might be healthier.

Growth in global same-store sales for McDonald’s had been hovering around zero for the past few years, with demand sagging across the US, Asia and Europe, before plunging more than 3 per cent towards the end of 2014. This compelled Don Thompson, then chief executive, to promise “decisive action to fundamentally change” its business.

He pledged to slash costs by $300m and open fewer stores, before being replaced by Mr Easterbrook four months later. Its market share of US fast food slipped from 17.4 per cent in 2012 to 15.4 per cent in 2016, according to Euromonitor.

Last year Mr Easterbrook hired Lucy Brady, a longtime Boston Consulting Group executive, to investigate what was going wrong. She led a wide-ranging study to dissect where people were eating. Her results, which Mr Easterbrook describes as “frustrating, but actually reassuring”, showed that the majority of the missing McDonald’s customers were going to other burger chains, such as Wendy’s and Burger King rather than rival fast casual outlets.

Customers didn’t stop wanting fast food, they just didn’t want McDonald’s fast food. Mr Easterbrook’s response was to adapt the “modern progressive” doctrine and adopt a less aspirational focus: “the day-to-day basics”. This has materialised in cutting prices for coffee and soda, serving breakfast all day, offering mobile ordering and delivery, and improving the quality, if not the nutritional value, of its food.

“To Steve’s credit, he is not stubborn,” says Larry Light, McDonald’s former chief marketing officer. “Instead of trying to come up with new kale and bean salads, fix the familiar. Fast food is not in decline, and I think it will always be the number one way the world eats.”

To walk through the McDonald’s campus is to go back in time. Four levels of faded brick balconies envelope a 1970s atrium, making it feel more like a bare bones public library than the headquarters of a $136bn burger company. The group is about to shift its offices to downtown Chicago, where its neighbours will include the likes of Google, after six decades sprawled across 150 wooded acres in suburban Illinois.

Since first opening in 1955, McDonald’s has billed itself as a place to eat cheaply. It embedded fast food into American diets as the US industrial farm system developed to make $1 cheeseburgers feasible.

McDonald’s executives, former employees and analysts all agree that pricing is one reason the company has bled customers.

“McDonald’s lost the plot on value,” says Ms Senatore. “After the company stopped marketing its dollar value menu in 2013, they never came up with anything that was equally compelling.” The dollar menu accounted for about 14 per cent of total US sales at the time.

After keeping a lid on prices for years, rising commodity costs and wages put pressure on the independent franchisees who operate most of its 37,000 worldwide restaurants. They began increasing prices, which “destroyed the overall value message”, says Richard Adams, former director of franchising for the western US, who has since sold his restaurants and now consults for other franchisees. “They couldn’t advertise the dollar menu [nationally] because franchisees had raised prices way above that.”

Wendy’s and Burger King churned out deals such as four items for $4, helping each preserve a market share of about 11 per cent of the US fast food market, while growth in smaller chains such as Sonic Burger and Jack in the Box loosened McDonald’s grip on the market.

Some question the wisdom of the company’s decision to begin customising its menu by region in 2004. Mr Light, who led the effort, says it was internally “controversial” for a company who had codified its menu down to how many pickles are placed on different burgers.

By 2014, facing fast casual insurgents, McDonald’s took it one stage further, offering mixed and sometimes awkward messages about its menu. The company put clementines into Happy Meals and avocado on chicken sandwiches, while still trying to tap into burger nostalgia with adverts mocking the new lifestyle trends. “There will never be kale here,” declared a 2015 advert for the Big Mac.

Under Mr Easterbrook’s watch, the company has taken a “barbell approach” to its menu, beefing up its offers on both the low and high end of prices. Discounts are a core part of the Easterbrook ethos, with McDonald’s churning out $1 and $2 offers for coffee and soda.

In a nod to more health conscious consumers the chain has also promised to strip antibiotics from its chicken meat and corn syrup from bread buns, replaced butter with margarine and is working towards using fresh beef in its Quarter Pounders.

But can the food be cheap and higher quality? “It’s about balance,” says Mr Easterbrook. “You can’t just go all in on the premium end, because then you disenfranchise more price-driven customers.” A new “value menu” will be unveiled next year, with price points of $1, $2 and $3.

The premium offerings are not necessarily healthy. Its maple-bacon dijon sandwich with buttermilk crispy chicken contains 740 calories and 1,780mg of sodium, nearly 80 per cent of the recommended daily intakes. “American palates have become more sophisticated,” says Ms Senatore. “It’s not necessarily about lower calories, it’s about using whole foods, and McDonald’s is playing to that. But fundamentally the food is still pretty indulgent.”

Mr Easterbrook spent much of his tenure in the UK defending the golden arches’ image, going so far as to request the Oxford English Dictionary change its definition of the phrase McJob from “an unstimulating, low-paid job”. The OED refused. But his tactics paid off, and he was credited with reviving British sales in 2006.

For decades the company has taken flak for its implied role in the global obesity crisis. Governments are stepping up their healthy eating campaigns, which analysts warn could threaten McDonald’s recovery. They caution that the company is not out of the woods. “We may have seen the end of market share losses,” say analysts at RBC. “[But] in the past, headlines related to the obesity epidemic have resulted in negative publicity for McDonald’s.”

Any new regulations, such as mandated calorie counts, could “negatively impact margins”, they added. Still, analysts who cover McDonald’s remain bullish: more than two-thirds rate it as a “strong buy” even after its stock has already soared by more than 40 per cent in the past year.

The trend towards organic, customised products has jolted large consumer groups from PepsiCo to Procter & Gamble. While fielding online questions ranging from “do you even sell real food?” to “do you use pink slime in your burgers?”, McDonald’s now assures customers that it uses freshly cracked eggs in its Egg McMuffins and ground pork shoulder in its McRib sandwiches.

“One of the most significant changes for all businesses since the financial crisis is consumers are more demanding and expect to know more about you,” Mr Easterbrook says. “They are more questioning of all authority . . . you are no longer in control of your message.”

Bernstein’s Ms Senatore says it is “hard to argue that they haven’t improved the perception among at least some customers”.

“Two years ago the question was whether [Mr Easterbrook] could bring what he did in the UK to the US, because it was such a bigger market,” she says. “It turned out that he could.”

Squeeze on chains: Casual dining vulnerable to Americans’ frugality

Ten years after the global financial crisis, America’s lopsided recovery can be seen in restaurants across the country. Unemployment has reached historic lows and wages are slowly rising, but consumers are still cautious with their money. The compound annual growth rate for the US restaurant industry was 6.4 per cent from 1970 to 2007, but that rate has slowed to about 4.3 per cent a year since the crisis.

As the gap has widened between income groups, middle-of-the-pack restaurant chains such as Chili’s and Applebee’s are now struggling. With higher price points and largely outdated menus, analysts say these “casual dining” restaurants, where a customer can buy dinner at the mall for about $15, are more likely to have been the losers of the rise of Chipotle rather than McDonald’s.

Meanwhile, “the price part of value remains the greater part of the overall restaurant selection decision, particularly with lower income consumers”, says Bill Fahy of Moody’s.

This has supported fast-food sales, which have been resilient even as a cut-throat battle has broken out in the $800bn US restaurant industry. Executives say there are simply too many restaurants, and a lot of them are mediocre. There are now more than 600,000 places to eat and drink in the US, which has grown at nearly double the rate of the population, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

One of the biggest offenders in overbuilding has been the shiny new trend “fast casual”, as more and more companies have tried to replicate Chipotle’s success.

However, it seems supply has outpaced demand, with the number of fast casual restaurants growing by 9 per cent last year, while sales in the segment slipped two per cent.

Stomach Pain after Eating: Causes, Treatment, and Prevention Tips

Have you ever experienced stomach pain after eating?

The other evening, my friend Anne and I ate dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant.

Our delicious meal consisted of several courses—there was the antipasto platter filled with a variety of deli meats, veggies, and cheeses; a Caprese salad drizzled with flavorful balsamic vinegar; and a large gourmet pizza topped with bocconcini cheese balls, grilled zucchini, and eggplant.

Needless to say, the meal was to die for! I sampled a little of each food and Anne stuffed herself with everything.

Unfortunately, she ended up with a stomach pain after eating. In particular, she experienced cramping in her abdominal area—so much so that she couldn’t move for several minutes.

“I guess the food really was to die for,” she joked.

Causes of Stomach Pain after Eating

There can be multiple causes of stomach pain after eating. Some people are so used to binging through every meal that a stomachache almost becomes part of their daily lives. “It’s just a tummy ache,” you might say.

Yes, the little “tummy ache” could be attributed to eating too much or too fast, but it could also be a sign of a more serious health problem. Let’s take a look at the possible causes of stomach pain after eating:

1. Overeating: Stomach pain can result when you consume your food too fast. When you overeat, you might not take the time to chew your food properly and you might notice that the food generally disappears from your plate very quickly.

2. Food intolerances: It is estimated that up to 20% of the population is intolerant or sensitive to certain foods. Stomach pain and cramping are common symptoms of food intolerances or sensitivities, which are often associated with dairy, gluten, nuts, yeast, and tomatoes.

3. Food allergies: Dairy products, nuts, eggs, peanut butter, soy, corn, wheat, and gluten are common food allergies that can cause symptoms such as stomach pain. A food elimination diet or an allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibody test can be conducted to determine whether you are allergic to a particular food or substance.

4. Celiac disease: Stomach pain is a common symptom of celiac disease. The condition is characterized by gluten sensitivity. People with celiac disease will immediately react to a specific protein found in gluten called gliadin—it is found in wheat, rye, barley, spelt, oats, and Kamut.

5. Irritable bowel syndrome: This is a common gastrointestinal disorder that affects approximately 15% of the population. Some symptoms include gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, cramping, abdominal pain, or stomach pain after eating. Candida, food allergies and food sensitivities are also associated with irritable bowel syndrome.

6. Pancreatitis: Stomach pain after eating can also indicate pancreatitis, especially when the pain lasts for over six hours. Pancreatitis is known as pancreas inflammation. People with pancreatitis will experience pain that begins around the upper abdomen; the pain will then spread to the back. Other pancreatitis symptoms include fever, nausea, and vomiting.

7. Diverticulitis: Diverticulitis is a condition where pouches in the colon become inflamed from bacteria. The pouches are also known as cysts or diverticula. Some symptoms include fever, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, nausea, bowel habit changes, and cramping pain, especially around the lower left area of the abdomen. Stomach pain after eating is also common.

8. Intestinal obstruction: When there is a blockage in your colon or small intestine, it can be difficult for foods to be digested properly. When you eat too fast, large pieces of food may not be broken down. A hernia or tumor can also lead to intestinal obstruction.

9. Chronic candida: Abdominal pain can also be a symptom of chronic candida—a condition also known as yeast overgrowth. Other common symptoms associated with candida include chronic fatigue, bloating, gas, and depression.

10. Heartburn: Heartburn is also sometimes referred to as acid reflux or acid indigestion. Heartburn is the result of too little stomach acid, and it can produce burning chest pain after eating. The pain may only last a few minutes, or up to several hours.

11. Food poisoning: Food poisoning, or a foodborne illness, occurs after consuming food or drinks containing harmful pathogens that have contaminated the product during processing or cooking. This can include dangerous parasites, bacteria, and viruses. Symptoms of stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea may be seen within two to four hours after eating.

12. Peptic ulcer: A peptic ulcer, or stomach ulcer, is the result of stomach acid damaging the lining of the digestive tract. This creates open sores in the protective mucous membrane lining and may present stomach pain after eating. A burning sensation in the pit of the stomach may develop, and bleeding can occur in severe cases of a peptic ulcer.

13. Gallstones: Gallstones are small, hardened forms of bile or cholesterol that build up in the gallbladder. While most cases are asymptomatic, there may be sudden, sharp stomach pain after eating; back pain situated on the right side; nausea; and vomiting.

14. Blocked blood vessels: Blocked blood vessels in the abdomen may cause stomach pain within 30 minutes of eating every meal. As with arteries in other areas of the boy, the blood vessels in the stomach can narrow with plaque buildup. This is commonly seen in past and present female smokers. Other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

15. Appendicitis: Appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix. This may cause aches and pains in the abdomen before traveling to the area over the appendix, on the lower right-side. At this point, the pain may become severe and worsen with movement. Other symptoms may include diarrhea, nausea, and loss of appetite.

16. Pelvic inflammatory disease: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, known as PID, is an infection sexually transmitted by bacteria crossing from the vagina to the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or the uterus. As it invades the female reproductive organs, it may be either asymptomatic or may cause severe pain in the stomach region.

Stomach pain after eating can also be attributed to gallstones, eating spicy foods, a stomach flu, lactose intolerance, food poisoning, appendicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, Crohn’s disease, and peptic ulcers. Stomach pain after eating may also be the result of a blocked blood vessel.

Foods That May Cause Stomach Pain after Eating

1. Food Allergies

A food allergy is the response of the immune system to a sensitivity of a specific food consumed. The more common food allergies that may cause stomach pain after eating include:

Why Do Bananas Cause Stomach Aches? Bananas have a protein called chitinase that may cause an allergic response in those with a pollen-food allergy syndrome. Stomach pain after eating a banana may happen with someone with hay fever, birch, or latex allergies.

Peanut Allergies Cause Stomach Aches, Too Peanuts contain similar proteins that may cause an allergic response such as stomach pains. For some, consuming, touching, or even inhaling products with peanuts or peanut-flavoring may trigger a response. Peanuts are one of the nut allergies that can cause the life-threatening condition known as anaphylaxis.

Allergic to Eggs? Stomach Pain May Result Eggs are another common food-induced allergy trigger. Stomach pains, rashes, congestion, and vomiting may occur after eating an egg. Eggs have the sensitive protein in the yolks and whites the body reacts to, and this allergy is usually seen in childhood. The reaction may dissipate over the years.

2.Gluten Intolerance

Pain in stomach after eating bread, cereal, pasta, some soups, salad dressing, and beverages such as beer may be caused by a common protein called gluten. This is found in wheat, rye, and barley. This intolerance may be celiac disease, which damages the lining of the intestines due to the gluten.

3. Fruit Intolerance

Problems digesting fruit may be due to an intolerance to the fructose content. Fructose is the natural sugar found in fruit. Stomach pains after eating fruit such as apples may indicate that the digestive tract is unable to break down and properly absorb the natural sugar. This fructose intolerance and malabsorption allows existing bacteria to use the substance to release hydrogen gases and carbon dioxide.

4. Meat Intolerance

A meat intolerance may be due to a sensitivity to a protein in the meat itself. Small meat particles seep into the bloodstream, triggering the immune system to release lgG antibodies to fight the invader. Therefore, stomach pain after eating meat may occur.

With chicken, the response may be caused by the additives within the meat alone, or to the allergens added to the dish. Many cases are caused by food poisoning due to chicken contaminated with bacteria strains.

5. Sugar Intolerance May Result in Stomach Ache

The sweet taste of sugar may cause severe pain in stomach after eating too much of it. This may be caused by poor digestion of the sugar, and it breaks down in the lower intestine, producing gas. In carbohydrate form, the sugar may stimulate pain if not expelled. A sugar intolerance may also be seen with the use of milk products, as milk contains sugar in the form of lactose.

Weather also may initiate sugar-induced stomach pain as extremely high temperatures may cause you to reach for cold, sweet drinks such as soda, iced tea, lemonade, and alcohol. The high content of sugar may cause pain and bloating from gas formation.

Stomach Ache after Eating during Pregnancy

Among the numerous minor complications of pregnancy, you may also experience stomach pain after eating. This discomfort may be caused by more than just the type of food you have consumed.

During pregnancy, the digestive process slows down, and there is an increase in the production of stomach acid. This may stimulate gas, bloating, and constipation, all leading to stomach cramping.

Incidences of acid reflux may also occur, causing pain. This happens when the esophageal sphincter loosens, allowing the excess acid to enter the esophagus.

Stomach pain after eating may also be caused by the decreased space within the stomach as the fetus continues to grow.

Each pregnancy is individualized and by maintaining a food journal of foods that cause pain after eating, you may narrow down the culprit.

I'm not saying go shake everyone's hand, but try to ask a pedestrian in New York City on a corner during a red traffic light how their day's going. You'll probably receive some surprising answers like I have. I have been blessed with a large network through my military service. Find your network and tap into it. Sometimes a friend may invite you to stay if they hear you're in town. Don't plan is one of my favorite traveling rules. Unless it's for an event or a business trip, unplanned trips always end well. You must be open to any possibilities of events, such as going to a last minute Sausage Castle party. Remember rule number one; always have fun. With that said, I also never purchase a roundtrip ticket; I always travel one way. Especially when you travel alone, unexpected change of location can occur. One minute you can find yourself in Vegas, and the next at the Grand Canyon. Never plan. Make sure you take time for yourself. If you travel with a companion to cut some hotel or gas costs, you can get a little cramped, especially during long periods of time. Separate and make plans to meet up later in a new city or take in a view for an hour solo. Also, when you travel by yourself, you can socialize a little easier. Even if you're a homebody, go out somewhere and socialize in the evening. Learn to get over social fears if that's the case, or just go to people watch. My favorite part of any trip is learning new things. You never know what drunk old man will want to sit next to you and tell you the whole town's history, let alone his. Obviously, everyone has to eat, and there's many options for food. Personally I always drink water and take traveling time as a good time to fast from bad diet foods. It can be easy to eat junk food n the road, so I recommend investing in cooking gear. You can pack your own food, budget and plan some meals along the way. You find a church having a spaghetti dinner or a public parties in the area. I love to take advantage of park grills and bring my own charcoal and some meat. There's really no excuse for anyone to starve in the United States; if applying for food stamps isn't an option, there are many homeless shelters and food charity programs, depending on the city. But don't take advantage of these places if you don't need help. However, they're always good to remember in case of an emergency. To grow trip revenue, I recommend finding a skill or creating some crafts. You can find a product to sell on a beach that can pay for your trip or you can take out a vendor license and dance on the streets of Vegas in costume. Personally, I sell paintings, apprenticed to tattoo in Florida, connect with investors for multiple ventures in different states, and do a lot of writing from music lyrics to screenplays. Recently I found my passion in acting and auditions in different cities for background work or roles has been the best excuse to travel. On one of the film jobs, I met James Gwyn of Whiskey Shivers (Below is their album "Some Part of Something" which I recommend to buy.) They are amazing musicians and my favorite part of networking is discovering others, like themselves, with amazing and diverse talents. When I started painting at a young age, it dawned on me that Michael Angelo used to trace other people's work. There's a saying I really take to heart that reads, "A great tattoo artist creates his own style; a savagely amazing tattoo artists takes from everyone's." Learn from everyone because it will always benefit you. Watch how other's perform or act and learn. The most important part of being an artist and traveler is evolving. The last piece of advice I have for everyone is to volunteer. Everywhere, even online, there are many people needing help. I participated in helping my Native brothers and sisters at Standing Rock, North Dakota as a Veteran and Taíno Indian. Try collecting supplies with a church for the Flint, Michigan community and bring them to them. Volunteer at a nursing home and ask for a room to stay for the time. There's a million things to volunteer for or to get temporarily hired for. To work or volunteer on farms across the world, I recommend going to www.wwoof.net. To travel to, and to find temporary work while in town, I recommend finding them on www.Craigslist.net. To travel free you have to have a good network, clear mind and schedule, no expectations, and be creative. One of my favorite methods of spontaneous travel is hitchhiking. Some might say it's dangerous, but maybe they should read my next blog called "The Hitchhikers Guide to the USA... and not getting killed." Tweet me Andy questions. Product Recalls for the Week of May 1, 2017:

HVAD(TM) System Controllers and DC Adapters: Medtronic announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified the company’s recently initiated voluntary field action related to its HVAD(TM) System Controllers (serial numbers lower than CON300000) and DC Adapters (all serial numbers for product code 1435) as a Class I recall. Medtronic began notifying clinicians outside of the United States in March 2017 about updated HVAD System Controllers and DC Adapters that were developed following two previously communicated Field Safety Notices that occurred in April 2015 and April 2016. The FDA approved the updated controller on April 7, 2017, and Medtronic began notifying U.S. clinicians about the updated HVAD Controllers and DC Adapters on April 14, 2017. In April 2015 and April 2016, Medtronic notified clinicians about potential safety issues with the current HVAD System Controller that could lead to possible injury and death due to worn alignment guides, internal “double disconnect (no power) alarm” battery failure, and loose power and data connectors. With the introduction of the updated controller, Medtronic has begun to remove current HVAD Controllers (product codes 1400,1401US and 1407US) in select geographies, including the U.S. Medtronic also has begun to remove the related adapters (product code 1435), Instructions for Use, Patient Manuals and Emergency Responder Guides. Patients with questions about this announcement should contact their physicians or ventricular assist device (VAD) coordinator at their hospital center. Adverse reactions or quality problems experienced with the use of this device may be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail or by fax. Herbal Tea: U.S. Deer Antler Ex. & Imp. is recalling a variety of Herbal Teas prepared on premises between 4/1/17 and 4/30/17 in cooperation with an inspection made by the California Department of Public Health. The aforementioned Herbal Teas, especially those with low-acidity held at room temperature, were not produced according to approved guideline, making them susceptible to contamination by Clostridium botulinum. The Herbal Teas were distributed to individual customers and acupuncturists in California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Symptoms of Clostridium botulinum typically begin with blurred or double vision followed by trouble speaking, swallowing; and progression to muscle weakness starting in the upper body, moving downward. Botulism can lead to life-threatening paralysis of breathing muscles requiring support with a breathing machine (ventilator) and intensive care. People experiencing these symptoms who have recently consumed these Herbal Teas should seek immediate medical attention. Consumers in possession of these products are to stop consumption and return unconsumed product to their original place of purchase. Recall Date: 5/1/17

HoMedics Handheld Massagers: HoMedics USA LLC is recalling is handheld massagers because the cord can break near the base of the massager and expose the wires, posing an electric shock and burn hazards. This recall involves three models of handheld massagers, HHP-375H, HHP-250 and the PA-MH-THP. All models of the massagers have a 120 VAC, 60 HZ power cord. “HoMedics” is printed on the massagers. The HHP-375H model Handheld Dual Node Percussion Massager with Heat is white with a gray handle or black with a gray handle. The massager has three sets of interchangeable nodes. The HHP-250 model Handheld Hot and Cold Massager is white with a gray stripe or gray with a blue stripe. The massager has three, five or eight interchangeable nodes. The PA-MH-THP model Handheld Compact Percussion Massager with Heat is white on the bottom of the base with gray on top. The massager has two sets of interchangeable nodes. All manufacturing dates for all three models are included in the recall and the item date code can be found in either one of the cord prongs or in the rating label located on the underside of the product. Date codes can be identified as a 4-digit number WWYY where WW is the sequential week of the year and YY is the last two digits of the manufacturing year. HoMedics has received 140 reports of exposed wires, sparks, smoking and some shooting flames coming from the massagers. There have been 15 reports of burn injuries to consumer’s fingers and other parts of the body. Recalled massagers were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, Rite-Aid, Walmart and other stores nationwide and HSN from August 2013 through February 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled massagers and contact HoMedics for instructions on removing the cord and to receive a refund in the form of a credit for any replacement product from the firm. Recall Date: 5/2/17

Goodman Gas-Fired Furnaces: Goodman Manufacturing Company L.P. is recalled its gas-fired furnaces because the blower motor is not grounded, posing an electrical shock hazard to individuals servicing the units. This recall involves 80% efficiency gas-fired furnaces sold under the Goodman, Amana and Daikin brand names used with home heating and cooling systems. The recalled products have model numbers beginning AMEH80, DM80HE, and GME8, and serial numbers beginning 1609, 1610, 1611 and 1612. The brand name is shown on the outside of the furnace, and the serial number is located on the label found by opening the furnace door. Recalled furnaces were sold at Goodman, Amana and Daikin heating and cooling equipment dealers nationwide from September 2016 through January 2017. Consumers should immediately contact Goodman for a free repair. Recall Date: 5/2/17

Wingman35 Crossing Catheters: ReFlow Medical initiated a lot-specific voluntary recall of the Wingman35 Crossing Catheters. The FDA is classifying this as a Class 1 recall, the most serious recall situation where the patient is exposed to a reasonable likelihood of death or a serious injury. The Wingman35 Crossing Catheters have been found to exhibit tip splitting or separation, which has resulted in two adverse events. ReFlow has received 2 complaints of catheter-tip splitting and/or separation. A total of 2327 Wingman catheters are in distribution. Tip splitting has the potential to lead to loss of device function. Tip separation may require medical intervention to retrieve a separated segment or may occlude blood flow to end organs. The Wingman Crossing Catheters in this recall were distributed between January 2015 and March 2016. ReFlow Medical has notified its customers and distributors by recall notification letters. The letters requested that all customers and distributors quarantine and discontinue use of all potentially affected units and return the affected product to the company as soon as possible for credit. FDA and other regulatory agencies around the world have been notified of this action. Recall Date: 5/3/17

Imported Frozen Raw Tuna (Ahi) Cubes: The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) has been notified of imported frozen raw tuna or ahi cubes distributed by Tropic Fish Hawaii, LLC on Oahu that tested positive for hepatitis A. The product, imported from Indonesia, was used to prepare poke sold between April 27 – May 1 by food establishments on Oahu. The imported frozen fish was used to prepare poke sold at Times Supermarket and Shima’s locations in Aiea, Kailua, Kaneohe, Kunia, Liliha, Mililani, Waipahu, and Waimanalo. The product was also used to prepare food served or sold by GP Hawaiian Food Catering, the Crab Shack Kapolei (also known as Maile Sunset Bar & Grill in Kapolei), Aloha Sushi at 3131 N. Nimitz, and the ABC store at 205 Lewers St. Customers who purchased and consumed the product and are not vaccinated for hepatitis A are advised to consult with their doctor about vaccination. Persons who consumed poke from the affected food establishments between April 28 and May 1 may have been exposed to hepatitis A and are advised to contact their healthcare provider about receiving hepatitis A vaccine or immune globulin (IG), which may provide some protection against the disease if administered within two weeks after exposure; monitor their health for symptoms of hepatitis A infection up to 50 days after exposure; wash hands with soap and warm water frequently and thoroughly, especially after using the bathroom and before preparing food; and stay at home and contact their healthcare provider immediately if symptoms of hepatitis A infection develop. Symptoms of hepatitis A infection usually appear 2–6 weeks after exposure and include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, dark urine, diarrhea, and yellow skin and eyes. Individuals, including food service employees, exhibiting symptoms of hepatitis A should stay home and contact their healthcare provider. While vaccination provides the best protection, frequent handwashing with soap and water after using the bathroom, changing a diaper, and before preparing food can help prevent the spread of hepatitis A. Appropriately cooking foods can also help to prevent infection. Recall Date: 5/3/17

Frozen Quiche Products: Maple Leaf Foods, Inc. is recalling approximately 24,768 pounds of Ready-to-Eat (RTE) fully-cooked quiche products that were not presented for re-inspection upon entry to the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. Without the benefit of full inspection, a possibility of adverse health consequences exists. The products subject to recall were produced and packaged on Feb. 8, 2017. Those products include 24-ounce individually-packaged plastic clam-shell containers of frozen “SCHNEIDERS LORRAINE HAM & CHEESE Quiche” with package code “62000 8096 9” on the individual retail containers and 24-ounce individually-packaged plastic clam-shell containers of frozen “H.E.B. Chef Prepared Foods Ham & Cheese Quiche” with package code “41220 63400 9” on the individual retail containers. The products subject to recall do not bear the USDA federal mark of inspection, but bear establishment number “Canada 277.” The products were shipped to distribution centers in Indiana and Oklahoma for further distribution to retail stores nationwide. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 5/3/17

Beef Chile Colorado Frozen Meals: Blount Fine Foods, Corp. is recalling approximately 8,685 pounds of Beef Chile Colorado frozen meals due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The products are mislabeled as Beef Chile Colorado, but the packaged product contains cheese enchiladas with milk as an ingredient. Milk is a known allergen and is not declared on the product label. The frozen Beef Chile Colorado products were produced on Nov. 23, 2016. Products subject to recall include 10-ounce retail cartons containing “SAFFRON ROAD BEEF CHILE COLORADO WITH MESQUITE BLACK BEANS & GARLIC RICE” with “Best By” dates of “05/23/18 AP.” The products subject to recall do not bear an establishment number on the packaging because the company was producing a U.S. Food and Drug Administration product. These items were shipped to distribution centers located in Pennsylvania and Texas. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 5/3/17

Veal, Beef and Pork Products: Marcho Farms, Inc. is recalling approximately 5,620 pounds of boneless veal, and ground veal, beef and pork products that may be adulterated withnon-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) O111, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The veal, beef and pork products were produced on April 11 and April 14, 2017. Products subject to recall include 60-pound cases of “VEAL BONELESS TRIMMINGS HALAL” with case code “5398” and “MANFU. DATE” of “04/11/2017;” 60-pound cases of “VEAL TRIMMINGS USDA CHOICE” with case code “98” and “MANFU. DATE” of “04/11/17;” 9-pound cases of “VEAL, BEEF, PORK GROUND FOR MEATLOAF” with case code “3122” and “Sell By” date “05/05/17;” and 10-pound cases of “VEAL, BEEF, PORK GROUND FOR MEATLOAF BULK PACK” with case code “3125.” These items were distributed to retail stores and food service locations in Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. The problem was discovered when the Illinois State Meat Inspection Service notified FSIS on May 2, 2017, about positive non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) samples made with source material produced by Marcho Farms, Inc. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 5/4/17

Combi Shuttle Travel Systems: Combi USA is recalling its Combi Shuttle Travel System (stroller and car seat combos) because the car seat can disengage from the stroller’s frame, posing a fall hazard to infants. This recall involves Combi Shuttle model strollers and car seats, which when used together are called a travel system. The strollers and car seats have model number 6100027 or 6100100 printed on a label on the base of the car seat and stroller’s leg. The car seat and stroller were sold in titanium (silver) and red chili (red) colors. Combi is printed on the front of the stroller and the car seat. Shuttle is printed above the model number. Recalled units were sold online at Amazon.com, Babies R Us.com, Target.com and other online retailers from June 2015 through September 2016. Recall Date: 5/4/17

Nutty Infusions Cashew and Ginger Wasabi Cashew Butters: NOW Health Group, Inc. (NOW) is voluntarily recalling its Ellyndale® Nutty Infusions™ Roasted Cashew Butter – Product Code E0540, Lot# 2125155, and Ginger Wasabi Cashew Butter – Product Code E0541, Lot# 2124118 because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. A limited quantity of Nutty Infusions was distributed online and in retail stores nationwide. Recalled products include Ellyndale® Nutty Infusions™ Roasted Cashew Butter, 10 oz. plastic jars, Item No. E0540, Lot No. 2125155, Best By Date 2/19 and Ellyndale® Nutty Infusions™ Ginger Wasabi Cashew Flavor, 10 oz. plastic jars, Item No. E0541, Lot No. 2124118, Best By Date 3/19. NOW has provided information on this voluntary recall to all its retailers who purchased this product and has encouraged retailers to make every effort to contact their customers to facilitate the return of affected products. Consumers who have purchased the recalled Nutty Infusions should stop using the product immediately and return it to place of purchase for a full refund. Recall Date: 5/4/17
