Swords and sword work is much more fun to read about than laundry…. I haven’t read a lot of historical fiction though, I could be very wrong, i do adore the argument and agree wholeheartedly with the position as stated, but ia book regarding most “women’s work,” is going to be a lot of fucking drudgery because the work is boring and awful- which is why the people with the power don’t want to do it. I also am sick and tired of reading about men doing all the things I (female) would like to imagine myself doing. It’s a tough row to hoe to for sure.

As I was writing this, I may not have made the point Il was hoping to make because in the middle I realized that Terry Pratchett managed this feat. It was historical fantasy, but hey, it’s too good to ignore: Monstrous Regiment, and all of the Witches books.

Stumbled in this while looking for a good source for the book, it’s a “daybook” highlighting historically important women.

I don't know exactly how to articulate this but... if you repeatedly show historical fiction women rejecting traditionally female skills/duties and doing swords instead, because swords is obviously the Most Important Thing, you are kind of implying that all the work that has been traditionally done by female hands for millennia was useless all along and not, you know, keeping civilization going. Because it's usually rejected not as a personal preference but as This Is The Important Stuff (male work) and That is The Dumb Useless Stuff (women's work) and that kind of bothers me. The message was supposed to be Vital But Underpaid and Underappreciated, not women's work is insignificant so let's all go do swords.

Trans!Regulus makes makes sense to me for a few reasons, honestly.

For one, it explains why it took so long for Sirius to be disowned. We know that the House of Black had very old values, so I can picture them not being accepting of trans people and not wanting a “woman” to be in charge. We know they disowned easily— think about Alphard— but they didn’t get rid of Sirius until he ran away. I could picture them keeping Sirius around to try and have a viable heir.

For two, it would give motivation for Regulus to rethink things. In the end, he did betray Voldemort, but, before that, he was wholly devoted to the cause. Maybe the reason he rethought things is because he realized he didn’t fit the mold, causing him to ask questions, before he figured it out and backtracked.

For three, I just like trans characters. Fuck JKR, she deserves to be pissed off by us making characters trans. I’d make Regulus trans if only to make her upset.

I understand Mikayla may have made mistakes handling foxes/may not have managed to always keep all of them alive. At the same time, there were other rescues and veterinarians and people in general helping her, so what I mean to say is, the situation was clearly monitored. People weren't just letting her hoard animals or be negligent to them willy-nilly.

If there were concerns about her being in the wrong, instead of a fucking snark subreddit and empty criticism on social media, the State could have been warned. But I have seen around people discussing the possibility that fur farms have been involved in this smear campaign so the logic, or abscence of the very same, behind this criticism shebang towards her, seems to get more and more complex by the day. Unfortunately discussion on Reddit is dying down... Though I have read concerning things there. What the fuck KazeoLion...

There were issues with funding, that is something I remember. It was spoken of in the videos. There were also things that had to be done for the sake of the foxes and animals themselves, like registering as a fur farm (because that is the Law in the State, for the cases of people like her who cannot fully convert her facility into a rescue, and because it allowed her to get closer to fur farms and yes, pay them, but also force them into deals that would make them cease to operate in some cases). Also not releasing all foxes, because some were too domesticated or disabled or were illegal to release.

The only accusations I have seen which hold some water are those of her owning exotic pets, like Fawzi or pythons.

Still does not justify the death threats, the snark subreddit, and the fact that the Tumblr users who contributed to the snark subreddit and the misinfo shared on it need to be called out and they are instead trying to cover their asses. Acting like they never contributed at all which is... False. Because they did.

Do not approach things the same way they did however! I have been meaning to say this. No death threats.

This post started as a call out to Reddit snark and her irl friends, but since it's been getting "famous" (I really did not expect people to talk about this issue, but it seems I was wrong) and it's been found out that the snark was started/fed by someone here on Tumblr, the involvement this platform had should not be ignored, that is true. The "random Tumblr blogs" did have an impact. And I am tired of people saying it did not. But this, calling people out? That's what we should focus on.

I was hoping this would all blow over, but since it's continuing to happen, now with people attacking other artists of the commewnity. I'm putting out my two fucking cents! Cause this whole art/character theft and pointing fingers, who stole what from who bullshit it driving me up the fucking wall!!

Long story short, it started with me and one other blog whose name I won't mention publicly. Despite the horrible light they tried to paint me in, I don't want anyone going to this person and ganging up on them. This person had some serious bitterness towards more "popular" artists and claimed that I've made characters similar to theirs and once used a pose they apparently used before (which was a very common pose, considering it was a reference from the game version of mega Y). Since then, they had desperately tried to conjure up evidence, narrowing down to the most miniscule detail how I've been stealing from them when I hadn't even known their blog existed until I was forcefully thrown into that unnecessary drama with the unhinged call-out posts they've made. With this being said, I'd like to point out that they never came to me or addressed this concern with me in the first place. They had every opportunity to privately DM me if they had suspected I was "stealing," but no, simply because they already made up their mind that I was a thief, that was a good enough reason to lack common fucking sense and decency, making what should have been a private issue public, going on to villainize and dehumanize me. And apparently, it hasn't stopped with me either, cause recently I've been seeing other artists in the community having to deal with this where people are being white knights on high horses, pointing fingers on how one artist's mewtwo looks "the same" if not "totally identical" as another artist's mewtwo. I refuse to believe it's a coincidence. But what makes me disgusted is that since TC's post, apparently it's had the opposite effect on some people and they're hopping on this blame bandwagon like it's some damn media trend!!!

This is NOT okay! Nothing about this kind of behavior is funny! It's upsetting to all of us. We dont need you causing problems where there isn't any, thinking you're doing us a favor! The majority of us are adults for gods sake! We are old enough where we don't need other people coming to us being tattle tails saying this person did this and that. That's what little children do! If you suspect any form of theft, I think I speak for ALL creators in this commewnity that we'd prefer you DM us privately saying something like "Hey, I think this person is copying you, might wanna look into it." And if possible, provide a link to the art in question, for which we would kindly thank you for making us aware and we'll handle it ourselves from there. Just a brief, yet SIMPLE interaction...that's all we ask!!! Don't even come at me with "Well, it's scary attempting to talk to an artist that's well known." Or dare I say ~pOpUlAr~ If you claim that taking the first step to send me a quick DM makes you nervous, yet you have no problem making public call outs in posts or asks, belittling and degrading what could actually be innocent artists doing nothing wrong, literally leaving yourself open to all kinds of comments and opinions from all kinds of people....I'm sorry but your anxiety isn't as bad as you say it is then, if being rude and ignorant in a public post/ask is easier for you. If you come to us, shaming someone else who 9/10 probably isn't doing anything wrong, thinking you'll be in our good graces for doing so, sorry, you're not going to be told, "Good job!" with a pat on the back and given a lollipop! You're just being an asshole.

Quick reality check for everyone who's made it this far before I end this train wreck of a rant:

People can have similar ideas that coincide with one another! There's only so much you can do when a whole community is focused around drawing the same character! We mainly draw mewtwos and mews, you're bound to find a plethora of similar colors, patterns, and designs because of it! Creativity only goes so far when trying to stay true to a character and not stray too far. It's not a crime to take inspiration from other artists' characters, we actually encourage this! It makes us feel good that you liked something we've done and you want to incorporate it into your own designs! It makes us happy that we inspired you! The line is crossed when someone does a literal copy/paste of a character down to the exact detail, and they call it their own original creation. That my friends is what stealing actually is!
