i have no stake in this whatsoever since i’ve never even watched good omens and absolutely 100% unequivocally think it’s a good thing that an abuser is seeing the consequences of his actions but i don’t really see the point in shortening the 3rd season? rewriting it so he doesn’t get money from it? yes absolutely, but if that’s the reason, why not delay the season and do a full six episode rewrite? or just cancel it altogether instead of an inevitable disappointing finale. he’ll still be receiving royalties from the first two seasons and whatever ideas they use for the episode plus whatever he’s already contracted to receive so making a short season feels like it’ll impact the cast and crew more than him; they won’t be paid for a full season of work that they were expecting to have in an increasingly unstable industry
#i dont know how streaming royalties work for all i know hes contracted to get money per episode or something#when compared to a full seasons worth of story an hour and a half isnt enough time to satisfyingly wrap it up#so saying its for the fans is a bit of an eh thing#especially when they will probably either go off the book or his notes so he will still be paid for his ideas#i dunno#obviously a tv show is the very last priority when it comes to something like this#and i havent heard anything about how netflix is handling it considering sandman (thats him right? i think it is)#but people are entitled to be upset about this dont be mean#people have invested their emotions into these characters and this world theyre allowed to be upset#just acknowledge its not the most important thing and move on#but yeah out of everyone it feels like this decision impacts him the least#unless im completely missing something#but i dont think i am#it feels like this is more amazon covering their ass then a genuine desire to not give money to an abuser#which considering amazon is a multi billion dollar company is exactly what theyre doing#coming out of my cage and ive been doing just fine.txt#good omens#neil gaiman#aziraphale#crowley#ineffable husbands#good omens s3#good omens season 3

im skimming through the good omens musical for references and. musical!crowley is a duke of hell. good for him
[ID: two screenshots from the good omens musical with subtitles. Crowley and Aziraphale are hanging out and Crowley is saying “Well, and all I’m doing is my duty” / “as Duke of Hell”. End ID]
#my post#good omens#musical omens#it would make sense for that to be the tag right#this is very interesting. to me. specifically.#because in the book it’s specifically stated he’s not anyone special (in the scene where hastur and ligur show up to collect him)#(iirc. i dont know the book too well but i think thats right)#and in the show crowley also isnt a duke of hell (more implied than the book but still true)#(iirc the radio show doesnt comment on it either way)#(this is from the scene with agnes near the start btw)#it is a shame the musical’s so fragmented but im doing what i can. more gaps means creative freedom

thinking abt this due to a bunch of other media i've consumed recently but i have a special place in my heart for the fictional characters in sort of more fantasy/sci-fi settings with a separation between their queer identity and their struggles that aren't necessarily bc of that identity itself but manifest through allegory instead. i'm thinking of gwen stacy in atsv who is absolutely a trans girl that was accepted by her dad when she came out, but also her storyline about "coming out" as spider-woman/how people can only see half of who she is, is the most transgender thing about her. i'm thinking of aziraphale and crowley who are in-universe genderless/sexless bc all angels and demons are but the thing that makes their narrative truly queer is how they live in fear of their love being found out by the oppressive systems they live under (+ how they react to it in different ways). the doctor; someone who sure is technically genderfluid because they're a being can change gender with each regeneration but also their transness (and bi/gay/aspec coding) stems from how they interact with their companions and their at-all-times-complicated relationship to their identity. like there's lots of value in queer characters whose struggles are textually connected to their queer identities and face homophobia/transphobia/aphobia head-on but i have a lot of love for stories that build worlds where queerness isn't as big a deal and is accepted by the people in them, but the struggles the characters face are still a thinly-veiled metaphor for queer reality. makes them just as complex and identifiable through that, and shows that the writer(s) have a higher level of understanding of the identities they're portraying than just an outsider pov
#gwen stacy#spiderverse#aziraphale#crowley#good omens#doctor who#dr who#queer#trans#i think yamato onepiece fits in here too but i dont know enough about him to say for sure#the examples i give r not what i would consider like..100% perfect queer rep but lbr most queer rep isnt perfect. it SHOULDNT be perfect#and sometimes the flaws just draw me in instead#dont let me think about doctor who at 4 am i will sleep for 5 hours and wake up to write posts like this#misc

Casual reminder that Neil has said Muriel uses (primarily) they/them pronouns. I know this is just a character in a silly little show but if you're going to call the show queer and praise all the gay aspects you also should respect the trans aspects of it.
#not trying to be a hater#and i know the actor is a cis woman#and i know all angels are sexless so trans isnt what they are#but yknow. we live in the real world and this is a type of trans and nb rep#anyway please dont cancel me for this im not trying to start beef#good omens#good omens 2#muriel#parker rambles

#ok plz i wanna rant about how the new season of good omens is making me lose faith in humanity#girl tell me how ive trudged through 4 episodes of this season and i still dont know what the damn hell is going onnnnnn#every time i think we're getting somewhere with the 'story' the show slams the brakes to let me know that there're gay people on screen#does the coffee shop chick ever apologize to the record store chick bc i cant staaaand their romance.#like record store lady. girl. this isnt banter shes just straight up dissing your passion and life's work.#im scared to finish the season bc i just KNOW theyre gonna pull the whole 'i made u leave ur toxic partner now date me immediately' trope#ok so story beats aside my other gripe is how contrived the queer representation is in this show#i am a bi woman! my reaction to seeing wlw on screen should be 'yay! im happy theyre together' and not 'ugh this shit again?'#and also with az and crowley! what happened to their chemistry from the first season???#like on the one hand the whole 'bickering like an old married couple' schtick is lovely. but. theyre just faffing about most of the time!#remember the first season? when these characters had agency? and a semblance of intuition?#i am convinced that the majority of the characters in this season couldnt find their way out of a paper bag#i get theres a whole memory loss plot device thing happening. but it feels like Gabriel's cluelessness is like fucking infectious or smthn#i feel like an idiot for assuming that the characters i knew from the first season will be just as competent in this season. they arent!#i hated the whole 'continued' story in the wwii era. i feel like it was a pathetic ploy at giving mark gatiss more needless screentime#did they think people would find the nazi zombies amusing or something? why are we playing this off as a joke?#just admit you dont know what to do with the story and move onnnnnnnn#im gonna finish the season bc i feel like im owed the scene of david tennant sucking face with michael sheen.#itll be like reparations for having to slough through the rest of this nothing burger of a story jesuuuuuussss#ok rant over#good omens critical

this post just grows longer and longer but i found something else, on page 437. it‘s about the delivery man getting the flaming sword back from aziraphale. the original: “then he approached the couple with the bottle.“ the translation: “dann näherte er sich erziraphael und crowley“ (then he approached aziraphale and crowley).
maybe i‘m overanalyzing this but couple does have certain connotations that are completely missing from the translation. apart from that it‘s also just a different sentence. i have no experience with translation myself so this might be okay, still it‘s strange.
Idk if you know, but the German publisher of the Good Omens book added a line that Crowley had a thing with women in Ancient Rome. Like… he slept with them. It has been in the German translated book version for years. Even thought it was - obviously- never in the original English book version. It was added by the German translation team… for whatever reason.
I am running a Little „campaign“ to get that line erased.
Anything you want to say to the German publisher?
Why? I mean, why????? And yes, that's bad. Not inserting Soup Ads bad. But it's bad.
#i dont necessarily read couple as in theyre romantic in the book#i did underline it because i was like teehee theyre described as a couple#but it is weird to remove it from the translation#regardless of intent#good omens#just realised that paragraph is vaguely from the delivery guys perspective meaning he thinks of them as a couple#so its a similar situation as the consenting cycling repairmen euphemism anathema used#also. i understand that you dont always translate word for word i can imagine that you have to change the sentence a bit so it reads better#in german or any target language#but “dann näherte er sich dem paar mit der weinflache“ isnt harder to read than “dann näherte er sich erziraphael und crowley“#imo#ugh an addition but in the tags bc idk if it counts#on page 317 “poofter” (slur for gay men if i remember correctly) is translated to “lackaffe”#obvs ive heard lackaffe before but i had to look up the meaning and its def about like rich dandy pretentious men that kinda vibe#so it might fit but idk what the actual connotations are when you already know the word#tags longer than archimedes lever to lift the world but i felt like this was important

analyzing some images (for fun)
so i found this pair of promotion images for good omens season 1 on the good omens reference library server and it’s hooked me so so bad im having feelings about it. we’re analyzing them now. not really for meta purposes just fun to see the parallels and differences :)
everything under the cut !
unique traits
aziraphale:
1) his plank background. its older, its crisp, it smells like wood from the screen. mmmm
2) the pencil shavings at the bottom. he does a lot of writing honestly, so i like this. also adds a messy and cozy vibe he always seems to have in that shop…. i like that blessed shop fr
3) his SUSHI. little soy sauce drops near it too—just the right amount of deliberate mess. our first formal introduction to aziraphale in the present day and beginning the Tomfoolery just happens to have sushi... i watch that scene and i go “yeah, that sums up aziraphale i suppose” very nicely. (they dont have sushi Up There) (im literally never gonna forget that)
4) the ray of light shining on the scene. tiny thing, but a bit of the heaven is peeking through..it also sort of blurs the whole image but i think thats just me.
5) and we’ve saved the best for last: the big whopper. the nice and accurate prophecies of agnes nutter, witch. I LOVE THAT BOOK!!!!!!! i cant remember if that ring stain was there but if it isnt in the show on the actual book i’d assume thats to add that ‘thy cocoa doth grow cold’ thing. ALSO. you know what’s being used as a bookmark in the pages?? a check for the ritz. he bookmarked their one chance for living . with a ritz check . MMMMMM. my GOD. that means so much to me even if i cant convey it in words. he KEEPS THE CHECKS 😭😭😭😭😭😭
crowley:
1) let me get my favorite out of the way. crowley’s glasses have fire in their reflection. we’ll talk about the glasses themselves later but the REFLECTION IN THEM. fucking FIRE, BOOKSHOP fire, PAIN, SRIVING THROUGH THE M-25, HELL, I DONT KNOWIM HAVING FEELINGS!!! i do believe this is a bookshop fire reference though, the flames feel too Familiar. the lengths people will go to to attack others 🤧
2) the leather seat background!!!!!!! probably meant to look similar to the bentley’s seats but i cant recall their texture, exactly. maybe just meant to convey modernness—unsure. still, its there <3
3) the tiny little crisp plant </3 its trying his damned best to stay perfect. it might a specific plant that means something, but i cant tell at thsi angle, so i’ll assume its a mini version of the ficus he keeps in the flat. its so SMALL and sitting in ANOTHER POT i CANT
4) the snake slithering!! black and red (in this image it looks orange lol) bellied scales!!!! slithering there, chilling, being crowley, showing hints. love it
5) QUEEN RECORD!!!!! TRYING TO OVERRIDE IT WITH TCHAIKOVSKY!!!!!! the tape over it does a reminisence to crowley’s handwriting, but in a clean ‘this made made to be a font’ way. not exactly just yet. ive become a fan of tchaikovsky recently. amazing darling wonderful crowley, trying to push the rock up the hill for eternity 😞
6) HIS LITTLE DEMON KEY THING. HOLDING A TINY LITTLE BENTLEY CAR KEY OHHH. thats how he doesnt lose the tiny key despite probably not needing one of those. and he CHOSE that intentionally probably. little wings and red circle….URGHHHHHHH
similarities
mmmmm now here’s the good shit. similarities! i’ll bullet point most of them but ohhhhh. ohhhh these. i’ll go from top to bottom as best i can….
1) one of their shoes, obviously. crowley has them iconic snakeskin shoes while aziraphale has his old loafers like the old loafer he is /pos
2) chateauneuf de pape wine bottle labels! (crowley’s is under his glasses, aziraphale’s is next to his shoe). oh my fucking god theyre MATCHING. the labels are old, battered, of course labeling the drink’s age, but mmmmm its these tiny details that get me going….
3) their respective drinks in their mugs—crowley’s a black mug coffee (or what looks to be coffee) and aziraphale’s angel mug tea (or what looks to be tea). i think about that mug sometimes. where did he get that from?? mystery for the ages….
4) their glasses, of course. crowley’s iconic sunglasses and aziraphale’s reading spectacles. i cant really tell the reflections in this pair, but if its supposed to be fucking fire, im done with this. im giving up forever
5) their own watches! aziraphale’s is visibily older while crowley’s is visibly modern, but they function just the same. also, crowley’s is set to 2:56:59 (presumably PM), which is around the time we see when crowley starts checking his watch at warlock’s birthday party. its almost time for disaster to strike!! 😃
6) and finally….their ties!! they have their own ties!!! or more accurately, neck accessories, but i digress. i mesn i assume its crowley’s neck tie, because the fabric looks… different. either way, crowley’s neck thingie is very whispy and aziraphale has his funky little bowtie i love so much,,,
okay thats it. there’s no canonical implications, any fantheories, none of the sort. just saw a pair of images and my mind went GOD DAMN!!!!!! theyre very important to me. i need to look at more promo material 😔

Reading through @badaziraphaletakes inspired me to make a post about reasons:
Why people tend to choose Crowley of Aziraphale, and, consequently, think Aziraphale is bad
This might be a long post, i'll cover some topics and i might get all over the place at some point! But please be patient! Can i get into it?
Inversion of values
When first watching Good Omens, you might expect a strong inversion of values, that Heaven is bad and Hell is good, angels are the oppresors and demons the victims
It is mostly religiously (religious trauma) motivated, aka "christianity is a fucking bullshit" motivated, to expect seeing the ones who calls themselfs good (Heaven, who we interpret as Christian religious figures) be actually bad (wich, in real life, they tend to be) and, the ones they cast out as evil and sinful (Hell, wich we interpret in this case as anyone the church calls sinful, like the queer comunity) to be good and innocent and just different, it makes us feel emphatic for them, even seeing that they are, indeed, bad
I believe some people just dont want to accept it, they want to believe the angels are inherently bad and the demons just questioned their bad ways
But they arent, if anything ALL angels and demons are naturally good and innocent, "oh but Gabriel!" He was naturally good, we saw it, the same with Michael and Uriel too, they're all just tainted by the strong grip Heaven demands for them to have; in episode 1 season 2, we see both Crowley (as starmaker) and Aziraphale being totally innocent and adorable, they're good by nature, no one in the story is actually evil
When this inversion of values we wish for isnt fulfilled, it might cause an annoyance, i know a lot of people who dont accept it, and just make it up because... well is expected!
Queerness
This was originally taken from a post of "Bad Aziraphale Takes"
Crowley is "more queer" than Aziraphale, at least thats how people see it as, in fics too, how many times Crowley gender is explored, with pronouns and labels and identities? While the more i saw for Aziraphale was a vulva or they/them pronouns, and never in a human au! Aziraphale is depicted and seem as a cisgender male
I have seem even people saying Aziraphale have internalized homophobia! I- how??
Found them! @theelastword made an ask on the "bad Aziraphale takes" blog that inspired this bit <3 thank you love
Need for a villain and favorites
As we saw, people that hate Aziraphale choose to see Heaven as evil, as the villain, and that is also followed by many people who dont hate Aziraphale! Well, might i say that... we dont have a real villain in Good Omens? The angels arent evil for wishing to follow what they believe to be God's plan, nor for deminishing humanity- but i'm getting ahead of myself here!
The need to see Heaven as inhetently bad, the big bad villain, makes people see Aziraphale, going back there "freely", hurting Crowley's feelings, saying Hell/demons are the bad guys (wich they ARE?? There is not an inversion of values!) As him being evil, as him going to the side of the villain instesd of choosing Crowley, going back to CROWLEY'S abusers, not his, not theirs, Crowley
I do believe humans have a natural need to have favorites, when you're a kid is always "wich caracther of this cartoon am i?" and later is always "wich do i relate to more? Wich do i like more?", and people choose Crowley for all those reasons above and probally some personal ones too
So! As a small conclusion:
People choose to prefer Crowley, they choose to see Crowley as better because he's a "good demon", he's the victim that fell from Heaven and hates Hell, he's the queer caracther, he's kind and genuine and helps Aziraphale and have a car he loves
Because of the idea that Aziraphale is: A) opposite to Crowley; B) an Angel! (The abusers! The bad guys! The evil!); C) a BAD angel for that matter, he's selfish and mundane and comes across as rude to Crowley (because he acts so fucking autistic too!); people tend to DISLIKE Aziraphale, small simple minded people, but people nonetheless
I know the whole post is a bit over the place, it might sound confusing here and there, but i really wanted to put all this together to try and understand why people hate Aziraphale
I though maybe this can give a small input on why people think like that, it sures helps me to understand how they think that and what they mean by their terrible takes! I guess is mostly them being naive
Oh! You know how in the 2000's the media was demonizing femininity by having blond, pink, feminine villains in their high school romances? How we, to this day, tend to see feminine girls as fake, vulgar, naive, etc? How most teen girls go through a "not like other girls phase" because of that?
Same principle! Is the same reason for why they see Heaven and Aziraphale as evil
I hope someone can appreciate this lil silly thoughs put together <3

and now i have to find myself a tower in a forest near a wall ...
... and look for a black, dark sorcerer !
You love fairy tales? You love Good Omens? You loved Aziraphale and Crowley in medieval clothes? Then you will love this not so little fanfic i dearly recommend to you!
Villainous by @ineffablepenguin
What it is about:
Once Upon A Time…
There was a red-haired sorcerer who lived alone in a high tower, and a blond prince who lived in a palace full of people. And they were both of them desperately lonely.
The Kingdoms of Empyrion and the Sorcerers of Apollyon have hated each other for hundreds of years, ever since the Great War. They do not interact, other than to occasionally try to kill one another. And they certainly do not make friends.
Crow is an exhausted sorcerer who just wants everyone to leave him the hell alone: for the Sorcerer’s Council to stop harassing him to live up to his potential, and for wannabe Empyrion Heroes to stop attacking his tower to try and kill him. Until one day when he meets Prince Azra of the High Fells, who doesn’t behave anything like he’s supposed to…
Part fairy tale, part fantasy, all love story. There’s magic, and grand romantic gestures, and Heroes and a handsome Prince, and a Villain. There are even some wild heroics, though not necessarily from who you would expect. At its core it’s simply about two (relatively) sane people living in a mad world who find each other.
What i love about it:
🫅🏼 I mean - fairytales? And a lot of them? I found it very nice to guess all the tales when stumbling upon a hint. Nice touch: in the epilogue there is a list of all the fairytales which have kind of flown into this fanfic and i am quite proud that i only missed 1 i actually know (and of course those i dont know).
👑 This story is RICH - and i mean really rich. It goes into details over everything and sometimes it reminded me of books written bei Hermann Hesse because of all the little things that kept coming and being mentioned. On my e-reader it was 566 pages! And yes, it took them about 200 pages for their first kiss 😅 That said, its always drawing a picture and reading the story is kind of seeing in your imagination. Obviously nothing is ineffable for @ineffablepenguin 😉
💪 The action scenes: oh my, its like a Schwarzenegger-movie, you cant stop reading, its fast, its furiuos ... oh, thats another movie, ngk.
🩷 The character development: both of our beloved angels start out being insecure of their roles, their place and their worth. But - this is the first fanfic i ever read, where both of them get to be BAMF !!!!
🩷 The plot: i love being suprised - i mean we do know a lot already, diving into a GO-fanfic with the tag "happy ending", right? So there were some really interesting turns and sometimes i wondered "ok, just how will this play out? How will the author get to unknot THIS?" And i have to admit, sometimes i really didn't see it coming. Very nice!
🩷 The healing: i dont know if it was on purpose or the author just felt like our ineffables needed to hear and think stuff, but actually the way their characters develop and how they help each other with it, what they are thinking etc ... reminded me a lot of trauma-therapy. So as one of those few (ähem) people who really spiraled after the big 15 of S2, this was such a nice feeling.
💫 the epilogue - this story doesnt end at happily ever after. Instead we get to know, how they make a living for themselves and sneak a little into their daily lifes. I truly appreciate that, its a nice way of comforting the Reader out of the story.
This wonderful art is from @pinkpiggy93! 🩷
Most beloved quote:
"And i love you too, my dear," he said firmly. "You are so very easy to love."
And isnt this quite a sentence, we all need to hear?
So if you are into good omens, fairytales, long fanfics to really dive in to for several hundred pages, some surprises and of course a happy ending - this is quite the story for you.
🩷🤗
Reading is not a hobby, its an attitude.

i meant it when i said quick btw, consider the poll closed, here they are:
quick! in the (more) fucked up and evil timeline where a durge joins the party,
#well probably not the final look i think i want to adjust the face mesh a bit but close enough#no name yet i wanna find something kind of complimentary while also contrasting with orin in a way#siblings of destroying everything and everyone only to wind up dead/with nothing because they burnt every bridge along the way!#i picture them more or less going along with the murder and violence not even considering it an urge for the entire game up until- (spoiler#the confrontation with orin where at first they say the your grandfather is your father thing to mock her. but then when -#she actually freaks out and is made to go slayer against her will they have a moment of. wait . that could be me#last second bhaal rejection with absolutely nobody to comfort them afterwards#because this is the timeline where all tavs are present btw. (well Alfhart and Ayre. Elamshin and Alfhart are mutually exclusive but anyway#you can probably guess what Ayre as an ilmatari cleric thinks about them and their mindset#but fun thing about Alfhart is that . he was murdered. like a lot- A LOT of times.#again - reference the two page comic- but for further context on his backstory#he was everything from a lab rat to target practice to drow for about 85 years .the whole fey reincarntation thing in conbination with that#good old curse he has going on that bars him from returning to the feywild. he was stuck in an endless deathloop for a REALLY long time#has pretty strong feelings about death/respect towards the dead etc as you can imagine#thus he and durge butt heads CONSTANTLY throught the journey#the whole 'two basically demigods that dont know they are basically demigods butting heads' is fun and games until it isnt#because well. man is hanging by a thread right? he's much better at masking his problems compared to everyone else on account of being fey#but he has hardly seen himself as a person since he escaped. and he entered the astarionmance as a bit of a self destructive move -#in the first place#it would take very little to throw him over the edge of believing he is in fact NOT a person in the way everyone else is-#but just a sentient bad omen where everyone that ever gets close to him is doomed wait what's that?#HERE COMES DURGE WITH THE ASTARION ASCENCION!#why was he not present to stop it? wanted to but couldnt because of an injury probably im working on it#point is. any recovery from his experience? negated. overwhelmed by unbelievable grief- shock; rage; sadness; numbness#before? say he strongly disliked the dark urge. Now? to say he only hates them would be an understatement#so when withers brings them back- dead and returned and ALONE- more lost than they have ever been?#they have to deal with the only person that knows what that feels like#looking them dead in the eyes clearly wishing they would have stayed dead#So that's it that's the plot of the even more horrible terrible no good au

Before I begin this I would like to clarify,
I am a minor (15) so please dont get too angry at me if this isnt correct or if i have a bad take
I have adhd and I am hyperfixated on good omens, have been for about 3? months, so i was (?) a Neil Gaiman fan.
Ok, now to actually start (sorry I haven't posted before I dont think? maybe once or twice). When I opened up tiktok earlier i thought I was getting pranked in a sick way, but nope, Neil Gaiman could possibly be a creep. Decided to hop on tumblr because a few people were saying it is going crazy, and they were right. The first thing I see when I look up his name is people shaming his fans.
I in NO WAY want to make this situation about the fans and "oh but only imagine how sad his fans feel", because if the allegations are true we would be glossing over the pain of his victims. But I do wish people would chill out on immediately dogging his fans.
First off, I had NO CLUE he was a zionist, and if I had i would have tried to separate art from artist as much as possible (i pirate GO tho so i think im good for now) But if a superfan like me didn't know this please be kinder to casual fans alike for just simply being uninformed.
Secondly, why are we hating on people for enjoying media? One of the top posts was about how "oh maybe dont make a whole piece of media ur entire personality", like ok sorry im neurodivergent😭
Basically what im trying to say: please be nicer to good omens fans rn, we DO CARE about the victims and a show that has saved some of our lives just happens to be connected to this situation. Obviously the focus should be on finding out the true story and supporting the victims, but please dont bully GO fans for being disappointed that their favorite show could possibly be canceled. I know it doesn't seem like the top priority to most people rn because it isnt, but it IS scary when you literally cried over a show taking 4 years to contine, then finding out it may not happen at all.
Lets focus on lifting up the victims vs bringing down the fans please
Im really sorry if any of this seems rude or mean im just a kid thats really passionate about a show and im sorry to the victims I hope things get sorted out.
thank you for reading!

I think, deep down, what Im enamored with as a Skulduggery Pleasant Fan, is not the actual written canon but the vibes.
I dont know when it started and how and why, but there was a shift at some point in which the silliness of the books was outweighed by reality.
And yeah. Thats fair, honestly. But Ive read Demon Road as well and it just.... It literally oozes fun. Its a short, contained thing. Its full of funky ideas that dont have to be perfectly explored because, oopsie daisy, we dont actually have the time. It says something about growing up, about gender and sex, about trauma and about magic and then its over.
Maybe the Skulduggery Pleasant Universe is just... its been too long. If you need to reset everything, if your scale goes from Ireland to global to godhood, from Mage to Grand Mage to Supreme Mage, from protagonist to hero to godcreature? Maybe its too big.
I really enjoyed Book 10 and 11 and even 12. But its not the same enjoyment I have of Book 1. Or 2. Or 3. Like... This whole rant was prompted by Valkyrie saying, ca. Two thirds into Book 12, that (this isnt an accurate quote) "At first, it was Elementals and Adepts. Now theres so much more. Neoterics and Mutations. I think its enough."
And thats kind of funny, isnt it. Because yeah. The world grows and grows and grows and we say goodbye to characters, we get invested in new ones, we worry about Omen and Auger and Never. Militsa, even. Oberon. We meet characters again and they're different and new now.
But maybe, and I love this series to death, maybe its enough. There is an expiration date on all ideas. You can only write so much.
I wish Landy would do something like Demon Road again. It was fun, it was fast, it had vibes. At the same time, I know theres Book 16 to 18 in production right now and... Do I read them? Will they be good? Or have I already said goodbye to this series and all the things I held dear about it.
I was so young when I read the first book. And all its ideas and all its contents have been living in my head, essentially rent free. It has inspired me. It has shaped my perception on urban fantasy. It made me want to become a writer.
... So what now, I suppose.
I have 2,5 books more to go. I have a few ideas for analysis left. At the same time, the characters I love and want to support arent really there anymore. And thats both good and bad. Development is good, moving forward is good, writing shouldnt necessarily be stagnant.
I feel like - and this will make no sense to anyone - the bard in "The Sims Medieval". I have traveled the world, I have gathered my inspirations. Time to retreat and write an epic.
Or something silly like that.

OKAY while im on a streak: valorant cinematic.
i know why Omen went on the mission to find the guy for his past and shit. Sova probably showed up just to help Omen; we all know Sova’s a good person and would help anyone anyday.
But why Cypher? Cypher isnt known for his selflessness. does this mean that Omen paid whatever price Cypher demanded? or.. does Cypher know something they dont and he got more out of helping Omen than we realize? Or was the price paid when Cypher found Iso? did Cypher lead Iso into valorant so that he had the necessary info to find Omen’s past? How much does CYPHER know about Omen? and.. how long has he really known? how much did he really gain from helping? because he is NOT generous nor selfless from what i can tell, and we don’t know what he’s getting out of this
idk. I just know that rat (affectionately) has SOMETHING he isnt sharing, and i know that whatever price he set was NOT money because i feel like Omen would pay anything he could to know his past. and I want to know.
