Question. Have you ever thought about writing for the Constructicons? (Not with Prowl though). I think it would be hilarious.

• “I’m just saying. A little appreciation.” Exchanging a look with Long Haul, Scavenger tries to ignore Hook’s grumbling as they work. Pushing against a tree until the wood splinters and breaks so he can shove it over and drag it out of the way. Pausing to tip his head up at the night sky and wonder where home is. “We’re out here busting our afts and do we get any thanks?” Hook demands. No. What they’d gotten was their energon rations cut because in the Decepticon hierarchy, they’re not much higher than Insecticons. He doesn’t like it, but understands. Being forged here on this miserable mudball not Cybertron means being looked down upon. And he has no idea where Cybertron is among those glittering stars. Can it be home when he’s never set ped there?

• “We do our job. A fragging good job,” Scrapper says, trying to keep the peace as Bonecrusher utters a harsh laugh and Mixmaster just shakes his head at him. Like he doesn’t see the scorn. Knows the others think he’s oblivious, but he’s knows they’re looked down on until they’re needed. Devastator demands their respect, but on their own? They’re second class citizens. If even that. Some of the other Decepticons are all too happy to sneer at them, to assume that since they didn’t come from Cybertron they’re less.

• Bending to gouge up a handful of soil and to intake through his vents, separating out the individual components in his head, Mixmaster growls. Scenting those trace amounts of energon that are the whole reason they’re out here in the middle of nowhere. “No one wants to hear that, though,” Mixmaster mutters. “They want us to work and keep quiet. It’s here.” Glancing at his brother when Bonecrusher bumps him. “They’re scared of us,” Bonecrusher growls, beginning to aggressively clear the land of trees, movements sloppy and giving away that he’s been into the high grade. But they all know it’s Devastator that’s feared, not them. They’re tools. Nothing more. Disrespected and mocked by the rest of the Decepticons. Something they all feel and that gets compounded when they’re combined. That dissatisfaction growing every time they combine, spreading and feeding on itself when they separate again. Reaching a boiling point with no outlet to let off some steam. Except to destroy something. And there’s nothing here but trees.

• Exhausted and not even tempted by the hot, greasy smell of fast food in the bag in the passenger seat, you go over the list in your head again. Trying to remember if you’ve gotten at least a little something for everyone. That you’re ready for the upcoming holiday. You’d volunteered to work the day before for the extra cash, but you keep wondering if you’re forgetting something. Distracted you almost miss the huge, dark shape that comes sailing out of the woods. Slamming a foot on the brake as your car slides with a scream of tires, a tree slams into the road ahead of you and goes end over end in a shower of pine needles and broken branches. What? Toggling your emergency lights on, you put the car into park and get out, wincing at the biting cold. And your breath catches as it sinks in that a tree chucked like a javelin even though there’s no wind, no plausible explanation, nearly took you out. Squinting into the dark woods, your skin prickles as a red glow flares in the shadows. Then five more.

• Hears Bonecrusher laugh and Long Haul turns to follow his stare. Sees the tiny shape through the trees silhouetted by the headlights of the car behind them. There’s no way the little human can see anything more than the glow of their optics. But there’s a whisper of excitement twisting through him as Scrapper says, “Bottle of engex to whoever squishes it before it ruins everything.”

• Heart in your throat as those red glows shift and a branch cracks, there’s a roar from the trees that crackles through you and you forget the car. Forget everything beyond the animal need to get away. Running as trees crack and get uprooted with thunderous noise behind you to send you racing across the road and into the woods on the other side in a blind panic. Don’t even know what’s chasing you, only that you don’t want to find out. Is this what a rabbit feels like with hungry foxes snapping at its heels?

• Heavy peds tearing up dirt and leaves as he tries to overtake Hook, Scavenger hears Mixmaster calling out to the organic. Laughingly saying they only want to play. You’re surprisingly fast for being so small, but even noisier than Bonecrusher somehow. Energon pumping through his lines as you break from the trees, just a little shadow silvered by the moon, almost unreal looking as you pelt through the tall grass. Catches a glimpse of terrified eyes when you glance back and then you go down, disappearing completely.

• “Where’d it go?” Hook growls, reaching to push Scavenger out of his way as the rest of his brothers catch up and he realizes there’s a sheet drop, the ground giving way so suddenly you hadn’t seen it in time to react. Leaning down to look at the still form lying in the shallow stream at the bottom, there’s a momentary flicker of disappointment. Because chasing you had made him feel more alive than he’d felt in a long time. The hunt a high almost as sweet as combining.

• Lingering at the edge of the ravine, spark pulsing still with the excitement of your fear, Scrapper’s aware of Mixmaster and Bonecrusher shoving at each other. Of Long Haul and Scavenger both still staring down at their quarry. Turning away to order them back to work, he hesitates as Scavenger bumps his arm with a fist. “It’s still alive.” And he hears the low, pained sound from the little human. “Pretty fun to chase,” Long Haul adds, shooting him a look. Primus, are they wanting to keep you? Like a pet? All five of his brothers are staring at him now. Waiting for his decision. And groaning in defeat, he gestures at the drop. “Fine, but I’m not cleaning up after it.” Because you’re a distraction, something to keep them from dwelling on how unhappy they all are.

wada sez: This strip leads into Megatron Origin issue #2—the irony being that the Constructicons only use Wheezel and his friend as raw material for their building work. The graffiti on the walls reads “WHEELIE WAS HERE” and “REJECT THE PROPGANDA [sic] - BLASTER [...] WRONG”, both in the exact same text, implying maybe Wheelie had a countercultural phase I guess? Other snatches include “BELIEVE IN [...] OF”, “THE WORLD IS ENOUGH FOR ALL OF US”, and “PIT FIGHT HERE TONIGHT”.

Hi! I saw you had ship art requests open? I'd you are still open to that, could I potentially ask for Scrapper/Onslaught (preferably Ons' IDW/Combiner Wars design, if so), please?

They strike me as two tired, serious gestalt leaders who have to deal with so much nonsense on a daily basis that they're utterly astounded to find a kindred spirit in the other when they work more closely together.

I adore them a lot, and simply appreciate the chance either way! Thank you!

Curious to see more if your combiner teams/combiner headcanons? Especially for the first five (Constructicons, Stunticons, Aerialbots, Combaticons, & Protectobots).

What kind of dynamics do you see between teams (both Con to Con combiner teams, and Con to Autobot combiner teams) and within teams? Who gets along better with others and how do the combiners feel about their components? (Only thinking platonically here)

I love combiners (especially the Stunticons and Protectobots) to death and there aren't enough combiner fans who truly care about the combiner and the components. Just interested in seeing sole of your headcanons for any/all of those five, if you want to share any!

ahhh combiner fans lets all come together!! this is a loaded question and im happy to answer bc i love combiners and their components! im gonna put em in a little g1 general continuity soup

In general for me i dont really like the idea of combiners being born together as a team i think idws approach where everyone had their own lives until they (by choice or force) became a combiner and learned to work together. also i dont like treating them as children/recently born bots even though thats literally what happened to the aerialbots/ stunticons/technobots. basically an outside force made them combiners instead of being directly built as one

the aerialbots are the only team where i see them referring to eachother as "brothers". i think they're close enough to consider themselves family. the others have more complicated feelings that range from "coworkers" to "tight knitted friendgroup" to "those people who i combine with"

between the teams the autobot gestalts are much more friendlier, Hot Spot and Silverbolt definitely get along, until hot spots energy tires silverbolt out. individually the protectobots are older than the aerialbots, but the aerialbots were a combiner group first so superion is older than defensor. the two teams work together a lot and have common goals. they'll even hang out together either separately or all together, like air raid and blades will spar a lot (and end up in first aids care)

(for idw i imagine rook and alpha bravo get along, for obv reasons)

the decepticon gestalts hateee eachother lmaoo. its a constant battle of 'wow these other freaks are so incompetent and stupid. good thing im the only normal one here' except they're all stupid. onslaught technically has the youngest combiner as bruticus was formed after menasor and devastator but he himself is only a couple of centuries younger than scrapper. motormaster is the youngest yet refuses constructive criticism even tho his combiner is clearly the most unstable and has subpar leadership skills that take a toll on his teams output. actually the rest of the teams dont hate eachother as much as their commanders do, blast off and dead end exchange maintenance tips, and vortex likes hanging around the structies for mindless conversations while they work

and for bot vs cons, they cannot stand eachother. the protectobots are the only ones trying to be nice; the aerialbots are assholes and the cons are worse. dont bring up hot spot or silverbolt around onslaught and motormaster respectively, or they'll both blow a gasket. the combaticons, built head to toe for war destruction and everything worse, cant stand seeing the protectobots act all peaceful and helpfull and shit, its disgusting.

as for the combiners... well they dont think much. see for the average combiner, it's hard to think that your arms and legs are separate people when you're trying not to get your face beaten into. they have some awareness, but very little, and dont know their components names. they can access shared memories and information, but thats about it. defensor hears about his components from the humans and thinks they're nice, superion thinks the war would be over by now if he didn't have to decombine and combine over and over again

No worries. That’s actually why I’d stopped writing on FFN years ago- felt obligated to answer every single request. At this point, I’m just doing this for fun. I’d missed writing silly TF stuff and you guys are challenging me to write characters I’ve never even considered

Drive Pt 5

Constructicons x Reader

• Tangled in your blankets, you curl onto your side with one of the three books that been in the things Bonecrusher and Long Haul had brought you and try to keep awake as Scavenger’s scoop sways with his steps. You’re not sure what they’re working on, only that you’d been picked up blankets, book, and all by Bonecrusher and plunked into Scavenger’s scoop. Along with three more blankets, a pillow, a bottle of water, and a box of granola bars. Can hear them softly arguing as they work, occasionally getting jostled when someone bumps your current ride and you tip your head up to stare at the stars overhead. Freedom all around you and you can’t get down without breaking your neck.

• Heading over to Hook to check the blueprints Scrapper had made for them, Scavenger can feel the warmth of you, feel every time you shift around inside his scoop and it’s a strange, but not unsettling sensation having you there even though he’d protested when Bonecrusher had just dumped you inside without asking. And it wasn’t like he could deny that you’re safer with them than alone in their habsuite. “You still good back there?” He asks walking back to gather more materials and shivering when you lay a little hand against him.

• Grabbing Scavenger’s scoop when he tries to walk past and tugging to make his brother nearly bend backwards with a strained ‘frag off, you glitch,’ Bonecrusher checks on you. Ignoring Scavenger, he rumbles when you look up at him and smile. Holding his brother still with one big hand as he struggles and swears, Bonecrusher reaches to rub a servo against your jaw and warms when you reach to touch his servo. Chasing you down had been fun, but now he just feels guilty about it. But he still gets a thrill remembering the hunt. Maybe when your ankle is healed you’d let him catch you again?

• Sitting up when Bonecrusher finally stops petting you and lets Scavenger go, you really can’t figure out their deal. The six big mechs so rough with each other, jostling and arguing. And then treating you like you’re made of glass. They’d chased you down like predators going after prey, scaring you half to death and now they’re keeping you like a favored pet. They must want something from you, right? Or maybe they just like having something to care for. Standing, you try to see out over the top edge of the scoop.

• “Don’t fall and break something else,” Hook growls when he spots your little head peeking out and he reaches up to tap you gently on the nose with a servo until you duck back down out of reach. He can still see the top of your head, though as you move around. “Stay down,” he adds tiredly. Because the rest of the Decepticons seem to have lost their minds and he’d rather you stay out of sight. Megatron’s little message to the ranks and then that stupid brawl between the commanders in the hall has him on edge. Just keeps circling in his processor. Cybertronians and humans fragging. Primus. You should be safe out here in the woods, but he’s not sure what to make of any of it.

• Sitting back down, you listen to them working. Hear them pushing trees down. Mixmaster laughing raucously at something Scrapper said that you didn’t quite catch. The sounds of metal on metal, thumps and rumbles. Hooking an arm around your pillow, you stretch out on your belly with the book. There’s not really enough moonlight to read by, so you just listen to them work. Trying to figure out why you feel so safe with them when you should be scared, trying to escape.

POLLING FAN CONTINUITY

In the latest Transformers continuity for former fans of IDW, it focuses on Cybertron. The war has ended in a divided Cybertron with ruled in one hemisphere by Autobots and the other by Decepticons with open warfare over but tensions still high. Elita-1 and Starscream have taken over leading their factions due to the mysterious disappearance of Optimus Prime and Megatron. The only clue are hidden messages between the leaders ending in an arrangement to meet in secret right before they vanished.

Megatron, a miner turned gladiator turned poet turned founder of the Decepticon Movement, and Optimus Prime, a worker at an Energon Refinery ascended to Primehood who declared them Autobots, are not just leaders but founders and central figures in their respective factions' cores. They have to be found.

Humanity is met during the search for the leaders including: Dr. Isaac Sumdac and his daughter Sari; June, Jack, Raf, Miko, and Fowler; Marissa Faireborn and her newborn daughter Sue; and Astoria Carlton-Ritz who is funding the operation. They have ended up on Cybertron due to a spacebridge accident when Isaac's experiment connected with the spacebrige on Cybertron, but importantly they've been getting several different patterns and signals that they translate slowly to realize are messages from Cybertron and contain secrets.

Cybertron has one general shared belief in that Primus, their creator, is both their god and planet. The Primes are therefore divinely chosen to lead their people as his representative according to tradition and the most popular belief system. The exact nature of worship and origin of the species is murky in history and many different cults, beliefs, and churches exist in the across Cybertron tracing their origins back to stories of ancient heroes and potential demigods.

Reproduction for Cybertronian is done through a mix of different methods throughout history. The most common methods are "parents," two or more Cybertronians making a new bot; Hot Spots; and Vector Sigma directly. Cybertronians grow through stages much like bugs during which they have to go through upgrades and shed bits of old armor. A majority of Cybertronians are raised in shared creches as groups, but mentors/parents are also common, especially in cases where new bots are requested directly from Vector Sigma or are made by their parents/mentors. The exact language used for describing guardians of young Cybertronians and nature of upbringing as well as more common methods vary across Cybertron and class.

The war that shook their planet was started for many reasons, but the rigid caste system enforced by both the government and the Primacy, which were ostensibly separate, created a boiling point that finally erupted over the Destruction of Nyon. The deaths of hundreds of thousands who were neglected and left unassisted enraged many to the point of violence breaking out.

My illustrations for the Transformers Big Bang 2023 ( @tf-bigbang )

Working on this year Transformers Big Bang was memorable. A lot of hard work with fun and interesting chats with the author of this unique story.

The multishipping nature of the Constructicons and Prowl has always been appealing to me and even wholesome (depending on the fanfic of course, but this one is not the exception).

To all of this, @basedprowl adds a pinch of drama or conflict by even more shipping, including the amazing Tarantulas bringing Scrapper back to life for his own interests!!.

So if you love Prowl (or at least you dont hate him that much xD), The Constructicons, Tarantulas, a pinch of drama and a lot of shipping go ahead and read all of this here.

(Oh btw, Tarantulas design is a mix since I love his shape in Earthspark but I like best his colors from IDW, so yeah is a curious mix and I like how he ended up looking)

i pretty much will read/enjoy whatever reader insert/self insert stuff i can get my hands on, but i do have FAVOURITES. peep my non-exhaustive list under the cut !

I'm a big fan of Soundwave (as much as i say i dont have a singular fav, TFP!Soundwave was also what made me cave and check out TF for real after spending several months on the outskirts just reading fic, and the first TF figure i got was of G1!Soundwave so uh. TOTALLY. NO SINGULAR FAV.)

Drift was one of the first characters i got attached to in IDW,m along with Ratchet... lemme be the filling in a Dratchet sandwich please abd thankyouu hrhhhgh (I also love TFP!Ratchet !!)

For TFOne I wanna kiss Sentinel u_u... and Airachnid and Elita-1 because hey. i can dream. also Darkwing because I have really bad taste sometimes apparently like seriously?? DARKWING????

Also big and blue- Thundercracker!! The rest of the Elite Trine (Starscream and Skywarp) is good too but he's my bestest boy!!! He likes dogs 🥺 OH AND SPEAKING OF OTHER ANIMAL GUYS: Hound!! also Sunstreaker as an honorary Animal Guy because he's got his insecticon buddy.

Speaking of medics, I love First Aid !! (and the Protectobots/Defensor)... And Spinister! And Nickel! I'll say Knock Out too. Notably I think it's more fun if Breakdown is involved as well :]

Which reminds me... I also really like Jazz in all continuities because he smoothly charmed his way into my heart along with Prowl. Also the Constructicons and by proxy, Devastator, can smash me any time ;]

I ALSO like Shockwave in IDW/G1 and I don't know much about him in TFP but his design there fucks and I like the way I see him characterised in fic fbdmfbdk IDK I STILL HAVENT WATCHED TFP.

Also the little baby me in the back of my head demands for TFA!Starscream to be on this list because I really liked him, but I'm more invested in trying to kiss other characters in TFA, namely Prowl, Blurr, Scrapper, Swindle, Megatron and Shockwave.

Uhhh talking about big, intimidating and purple. I'm also a Tarn girly on occasion ^u^

I've run out of segues AND energy so. Rodimus. Whirl. Swerve. Nautica. Brainstorm. Wheeljack. the list goes on. there's probably more that ive forgotten but im sleeeeeeepy so im stopping here.
