TUA S4 SPOILERS
-
The way the Five/Lila thing is gross no matter how you look at it,
mentally he is so much older than her even if it’s technically legal it doesn’t make it any less uncomfortable that’s he’s a 63 year old man mentally and she’s somewhere in her 30s
and honestly if you go on looks it’s even worse because not only is five physically 19 while Lila is like late 30s. she also met him when he looked 13 and she was in her 30s 😭😭

when my mom was a teenager, she used to listen to cyndi lauper's time after time with her sister. she played it for my dad on their first date, put the CD in his shitty car and sang along. she accidentally left it there, but she bought a new one so he could keep it. years after their divorce, my mom sings time after time as a lullaby to help me sleep. i still hear it in her voice easier than i can remember the actual recording. and when my relationship with her was at its worst, my dad played the CD she gave him all those years ago on his little stereo. sometimes people stop loving each other. but i don't think the love ever really leaves.

i'm thinking abt if/once shane becomes more involved in jas's life (trying to do better by her & stuff) that at events her & vincent will tire themselves out & shane will pick jas up (she's sleeping or almost asleep) & make eye contact with jodi or kent holding a sleepy vincent & it's just. silent understanding.

we need to talk more about the blue eyed epidemic among aphmau characters. there are too many characters that absolutely should not have had blue eyes

I haven't finished Kotor games yet but something I appreciate about them is that they feel so bleak. Maybe it's the old visuals or the music or the way they make my computer cry despite being old as balls. But they feel like the end, like the final gasping, heaves after a crying spell, like sweeping up the glass you knocked by accident while having a breakdown. The dust has settled and you are so much fucking worse for it.

idc what anyone says when a kid reveals an interest to me that i have any knowledge of at all, i act like i love that fuckin thing, like i’ve never loved anything more even if i hate that thing and maybe that’s dishonest of me but the point isn’t to fake interest it’s to model exuberance and joy for the things ur into. i want to give kids permission to be their authentic selves and to show them that it feels good to show your love of something, and that people will still like them—hell, maybe even like them more—if they just embrace who they are and what they like. that even adults like the things they like, and there’s nothing cringey or wrong about it. idk. i just feel like this is so important, for teenagers especially. they’re starting to be who they are and most of the time they’re scared of it and don’t know how to just Be and if there’s anything i’m good at, it’s Being, and i want to show them the joy of what it means to Be and to be so comfortable in ur identity that u genuinely don’t care if others mock u bc the Joy of Being is so complete.

i  like  the  idea  that  love  incarnate  isn’t  actually  a  supernatural  entity,  but  she  has  an  intangible  pull  of  all  unnatural  /  inhuman  creatures  toward  her.  something  about  the  supernatural,  the  unnatural,  the  unloveable  /  monsters  versus  the  innate  iteration  of  love  incarnate  herself.  maybe  it’s  the  same  soul  attached  to  love  incarnate  being  resurrected  over  the  years  -  maybe  immortal  supernatural  creatures  know  her  before  she  knows  them.  eliza  kardel  and  her  painfully  mortal  +  moral  life  is  nothing  more  than  the  reality  of  being  so  truly  human;  she  is  the  beating,  bleeding  heart  that  vampires,  witches,  werewolves  +  more  find  themselves  drawn  to  because  she  is  love,  no  holds  barred.  regardless,  love  incarnate  is  something  of  a  glowing,  lit  beacon  toward  other  supernatural  creatures  -  she  just  doesn’t  know  it.

i hate how when they make girl characters “the smart ones” and make the male and snobby female characters dumb, people completely misdirect their social justice in saying that “this is harmful to men!!” when it’s ACTUALLY pushing a narrative that women need to be smart to actually be worth something to the show.
that intelligence is the measure to how useful a female character is, and male characters can be at any intellect and be just as, if not more useful.

Is it bad if I ask you question and your opinion? I really like your blog and the way you write all the 18+ stories of different characters from different anime’s but recently a friend pointed it out to me that I’m in my 20s reading 18+ stories of characters that are technically younger than me. At first, I tried to say that they are fictional but yet I can’t help but find myself overthinking this.
You don’t have to answer this if it makes you feel uncomfortable.
other people have answered the better and more concisely than i am about to do but here is my take
in the case of tokyo revengers and haikyuu you could make the argument that both have canon timeskips in which the characters are all in their 20's. you could take the argument that technically the characters are born earlier than you were (assuming you're in your early/mid 20's) – if they were real, they'd be older than you. you could say that they're fictional characters and imagining them aged up is not only a pretty normal thing but ultimately harmless and bothering no one.
and while i do have the occasional older fic where the characters are third years, the majority of my fics are written with the characters as adults of unspecified ages - meaning if you're 21 you can read them as 21 year olds or if you're in your mid 30's same thing
or ig if you like an age gap you can pretend they're 35 and the reader's 22, whatever floats your boat.
but again, they're fake, they don't exist, imaging them as adults or yakuza or love sick serial killers and terrible people all round has absolutely no impact on anyone but you and ur brain :))
and if your friend's trying to make you feel shitty over smt you enjoy, screw em.

you know its a good movie by a good director when it doesn't seem like the characters just spawned at the beginning of the movie and disintegrated after it ends. a good movie with good storytelling has characters who have had a past and it feels like they've had a past and that they're real human beings (or whatever they are) with lives and relations and pasts
