Sketch dump! Vol. 3 August 2022

Literally dumping all the presentable works here as promised, whether I’m proud of them or not!

The first image was inspired by a color palette of a random YT playlist thumbnail! I really loved it and wanted to turn it into a cosy travel & rain scene with colorful city lights smeared like dripping wet watercolors. The second one is a KH3 reference! Do you recognise this scene? I don't know how he would possibly end up there in the first place, but he sure is determined to find his dear brother by breaking through the edge of the world!

How to make Ingo smile, step 1: Make him spell "Emmet"! And a goofy cartoon collision moment ahah!

They are very satisfied after a challenging match, win or lose, and they want you to come back for another ride! I love the twins as they appear in Pokémas the most and try to capture the personalities their English VAs give in my art. They are adorable, excitable, cool and very much admirable!

Emmet always wants to look cool, and Ingo surely gives the most heartfelt handshakes! This piece was to celebrate 1K followers on Twitter! The first three months were wild as so many people found my works!! I fondly reminisce that time, not only I was doing well with my first fanart account, I also felt very happy in general! I was so in the zone with art, being super creative free of worries. It's awesome to see most of the people who commented this back then are still posting/in contact with me!! Thank you so much for sticking with me and my little shenanigans!

Early Breakmas AU sketch (Team Break Submas); going full speed after trainers to collect their pokémon... What would you do if these two giant traffic cones approached you at high velocities?

Excadrill & Archeops, the soft & fluffy guys! Some of my first sketches of the submas mons. Excadrill has become my no. 1 submas mon, I adore that tough little missile knight! Archeops is definitely one of the most appealing ones! I love how he kinda has 4 wings he glides with. However I cannot unsee the snake in a parrot suit ahahah, pardon me! Also I pity the poor guy's in-battle idle animation where he has to flap SO HARD just to stay afloat!

Also Durant & Galvantula! I never was a fan of Durant but I've found ways to have fun drawing this little mischievous creature. They're after your ankles nyehehehe~ Galvantula also wasn't appealing to me until submas fever hit but now I think it's a pretty cute beast! I really like how I drew that fur, which is funny because it was that bristly blue fur that didn't strike my fancy back then!

Still enjoying this sketch! Took me some time to read the lines though ahah, the sketch so loose. He's leading a complete opposite life now...

Surprise!!! I held an art raffle on my Twitter account once but I never finished the piece for no good explanation other than getting stuck with the depot agent designs. I wanted to finish this so badly but just couldn't get over that mental block. It still bothers me I couldn't do it!

Some more Lies of P translation notes!

Some cool translation details that I thought were fun that didn't fit anywhere else.

In the Korean version, Geppetto is speaking an "old-fashioned"/archaic form of Korean to reflect the time period that the game is set in

Set around the turn of the century (late 1800s), mimicking the Belle Époque of France's industrial revolution, we can guess that the game's events take place during the late 1800s. Given Geppetto's status as "old geezer", we can guess that he's closer to 100 than not, so he would have been born around the early 1800s. I might not be completely accurate - basically, he's speaking as an elderly person might speak in current time to culturally reflect his age; other times I notice he's using some words that are now out of use.

From the game's initial trailer:

깨어나거라, 아들아. 이제 이 아비를 기쁘게 해다오. Wake up, son. Make this father happy/proud.

The word he uses for "father" is "Abi" (아비), which is an archaic word for "father". In current day, korean speakers would generally use "Abeoji" (아버지).

The -gura(거라)/-DaOh(다오) conjugation is also an additional syllable that has since fallen out of use, or is considered archaic, in current korean:

아들아, 네 심장을 다오. Son, give me your heart.

하지만 알아 다오, 나는 너도 사랑했단다. But know this, I loved you too. English VA version: In my own way, I grew to love you.

This is also apparent in Geppetto's final letter at the end:

우릴 방해할 자는 이제 없을 거란다. 너를 위한 크라트를 다시 만들어주마. (-juma, Supposedly, only a "superior" speaker can use -juma) 그때까지 호텔에 조심해서 머물러 다오. 너를 누구보다도 아끼는 아버지가.

He also uses the -Oh ending again. (although he does call himself "Abeoji" 아버지 here and not "abi" like the trailer. He uses "Abi" again in another instance when responding to a guesture)

It's a very cool detail to me. I think it's a bit missed opportunity that, as far as I know, the english version doesn't seem to reflect this! Although to be fair, I'm struggling to imagine how they would. 19th century english/french maybe isn't as different or isn't different in the same ways from "modern" english that 19th century Korean would be from "modern" Korean. [Well, my only education on this stuff is from watching episodes of Dae Jang Geum]. I haven't checked to see if any other character (like Antonia) speaks this way. [Pls message me if Geppetto also speaks like this in your or any other language version!!]

Lies of P, Blood, puns, and the P-Organ

The P-Organ, in Korean, is referred to as the P기관. 기관 (gi-gwan), however, doesn't necessarily correlate directly to the word "Organ": It's quite an interesting word to choose because it can refer to any system of moving parts, both organic or mechanical; and it can mean an organ, a machine, or even a governmental body or institute.

As you may have heard by now, the game's titular pun revolves around the fact that the english character for P sounds the word for "blood" in korean (피), making the title (P의 거짓 P-ie Geojit?) read like Lies of Blood, in a nutshell. The title Lies of Blood then fits into the becoming-real flesh-and-blood themes of the game, perhaps also suggests that the deception in Krat has cost the lives of many - and, of course, references the lying of the titular character, who is inferred to be none other than (P)inocchio! So, in Korean, the P-Organ (P기관) becomes something like the Blood Engine. Which rather sounds like a euphemism for a heart!

[Perhaps: It's also a bit of narrative that Geppetto refuses to refer to it as our heart, unless he refers to it as belonging to Carlo.]

In English, this wordplay no longer exists, and so it's rather awkwardly literally translated (as the P-Organ).

How do you say, "NEOWIZ"?

I've seen a few people ask about the pronunciation of NEOWIZ (Lies' publishing company). Hangul is phonetic, so you could (technically) say the official pronunciation of NEOWIZ (네오위즈) is Nae-Oh Wiz and not Neo (like the Matrix character) -wiz.

However [in my opinion], I don't think this matters, because when something is translated to another language, it often takes the pronunciation of the language it is read in. Kind of like how in english you would read the capital of France correctly as Paris (with an S sound at the end), and not "Pari" (french pronunciation).

Also, Krat is consistently pronounced by in-game characters as "Krot" (Long O, rhymes with "Cot" or "Not") in the english version. In the game korean releases, "Krat" is written as 크라트, which would be pronounced and read as "Krat" (short A, rhymes with "Rat" or "Cat").

[I think the devs also say "Krat" too. The rounder "O" pronunciation of "A" in words seem like more of a European pronunciation in general]

The "Youngest of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood" and Gender

In Korean culture, Age is particularly significant in both Korean social hierarchy and language, and the role/position of being the youngest in a group is a particular role known as being the "maknae" (I mean, I definitely think this also exists in the western world, people definitely would understand being the "youngest" one in your family, but it's slightly different from that).

Despite being a member of the brotherhood, she refers to her brothers as "Oppa", which is when the word "brother" is used by female speakers to an older male subject (Remember Gangnam style?) [A male speaker would use "Hyung". I debated putting this one in, because to me, it seemed kind of obvious, but I did see others asking about this.]

[Given that the developers are from a korean studio, I am choosing to believe that the subtitles provided by the game's "korean" version are the text/script as originally written intended by the developers!]

LoZ: TotK - Discussing Zelda Hate

I'mma level with ya'll. I've seen some really dumb takes regarding Zelda hate.

People be complaining & getting so vitriolic about how the house that Link bought last game is now being called "Zelda's house" by the Hateno residents in TotK & dude...

First off, Zelda herself never says that it's "her house," that's all the Hateno residents except in a journal in the English version. And even then, in the original Japanese, she says "the house." (And I'm convinced that the English writers only did that to prevent shipping.) So, why aim all that hate at Zelda? Besides, where do these jerks expect her to live with the castle in such a state of disrepair?

Second of all, Link & Zelda are living together. At least, that's what's implied.

For one, the fact that Zelda needed a secret room means that someone else was living in the house with her or, at the very least, was there frequently enough that she felt she needed her own space. Even in the English version, she comments that Link is "always at her side..." There's also the fact that when Symin sees Link again, his reaction is "you're back." As though Link lived there & had returned home. This plus the fact that Link seemingly gets to vote in Hateno's mayoral election implies that he's a resident of the town.

I also read somewhere that Nintendo was going to put a double bed in the Hateno House, but changed it when parents got all up in arms over it. (Though, this one is just a rumor.)

Even Zelda's va says they're in a relationship. Which, I know, that's just 1 va & thus doesn't confirm anything. But it does lend credence to the idea.

I get it, this is all just implications. But the thing is, Nintendo can really only imply relationships with the main character to begin with.

It's why Mareach still isn't a thing, but Ludaisy is somewhat canon, at least in the Mario Party games based off their team-up names. Because Luigi & Daisy aren't the focus characters & thus have more freedom.

The same can be said for Zelink.

What I don't understand is why people are so against the idea of Zelink being possibly canon. Like, Zelink being canon wouldn't stop you from being able to headcanon & ship something else!

And I can't help but think that Link has to stay single in the games so that manic shippers don't get butthurt. Which sucks!

And, honestly, even if they weren't together, you really think that Zelda would be the sort of person to just move into the man's house, take it over, & kick him out?? She's likely been raised on etiquette & manners & taking a man's house is very much not princess behavior. And, no, you shouldn't just hate her completely based on how she acted towards Link at the beginning of BotW's flashbacks. Things change. Very specifically, her views on Link changed. She's not a bitch to him anymore, so please, stop pretending that she's the same as she was then.

It's more likely that Link gave the house to her. Which, I still don't believe, but it's the more likely option when compared to Zelda just outright being a house theif.

Edit: I was recently told that Zelda refers to the house in Hateno as "her house," but then learned that this was only in the English version. In Japanese, she calls it "the house" & not "my house." And her very last line at the end of the game in both versions are along the lines of "Link, I'm home."

So, while not a confirmation, it certainly doesn't debunk it.

The big thing is, if they didn't want there to be any shippy implications then it would've been pathetically easy to just give her a different house & be done with it.

Instead, they chose to very specifically make it known that Zelda specifically lives in the exact same house that Link canonically buys in the last game & helps build up with his own rupees & resources.

Then, they specifically, make it canon that Link got Hudson & Rhondson together & helped build Terry Town, which is specifically something you cannot do unless you purchase the Hateno House!

They also specify that Link is "always by Zelda's side." That the house has 2 place settings but only 1 bed.

Then, at Terry Town, Link is able to purchase a Dreamhouse, which is specifically advertised to be for families. And the dining table specifically has 4 place settings. Which suggests some things.

And whenever someone asks if Link has someone he loves, his reaction is one of bashfulness! Or to confirm!

They knew what they were doing. They chose to make it look this way. It was intentional.

Let's face it, they're common law married, ya'll.

GTO Review

Great Teacher Onizuka is a beloved and iconic series and in this post I'll talk about both the things I absolutely adored about it and my frustrations.

So, right off the bat I'm gonna mention that I don't often laugh hysterically while watching anime (or anything really) but somehow GTO managed to have a buncha moments so ridiculous that my only possible reaction was pretty much set in stone...

The humour and character writing are both plain genius!! I could never for the life of me predict what Onizuka's next move would be. His recklessness and luck, as well as his gullible and kind nature added a lot to his complexity as a character.

In the artistic department, we got the banger openings and EDs, the on-point animation and variation in facial expressions. In terms of voice acting, every VA fit well and every character's lines were delivered perfectly, tho my personal faves were undeniably Urumi and Miyabi. Kotono Mitsuishi's vocal range and her accurate French pronunciation were a pleasant surprise but I also liked the bite and seriousness Miyabi's voice had, while it was also laced with uncertainty and her screams in that parking lot were simply harrowing ngl, I was 🤏 this close to crying during that scene.

And now, about my frustrations that gave me mixed feelings on the series despite how much I enjoyed every episode, except for the Yoshikawa/Anko part in those last few episodes during the Okinawa arc. It was just unpleasant to watch, honestly. I think Yoshikawa's random personality change and his attitude towards Anko felt out of place, even though it can be ruled out as his pure kindness.

And either way, Giving Mukai and Yoshikawa romantic interests in order to call them "men" as if it's manly to...chase after a girl that's come to terms with the fact that you don't like her and save the one who's made your life living hell from certain death, respectively, just to ditch the subplots altogether and create loose ends kinda sucked tbh. It made me anticipate a lot of stuff that just didn't happen. GTO being a comedy manga (mostly) doesn't really excuse that, as some other series managed pull off some sorta closure to their subplots. My main example is Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. Unlike with Mukai and Kujirakawa, who only get 1 singular episode together and their relationship never ever sees the light of day, "Literary girl" becomes a running gag in Danshi Koukousei.

Admittedly, I wanted and expected Fuyumi and Onizuka to get together because they're 2 consenting adults which at least kinda have chemistry but I'm convinced that Tooru Fujisawa either:

intended Onizuka to have commitment issues and despite him dealing with other people's problems he never gets his resolved, presumably because he keeps running away from them

struggles to write romantic relationships or doesn't know how to.

Onizuka's struggle to commit to romantic relationships (which is evident in both his relationship with Misato and the one with Fuyutsuki) never gets any closure, from what I've gathered.

The sexism was another thing that occasionally bothered me. While at times the perverted jokes were genuinely well-timed and maybe even funny, other times they felt very awkward, out of place, uncomfortable,, well you get it.

Some things aged poorly, simply put.

On another note, the anime's ending kinda left me with a mild sour aftertaste. It felt like an Onizuka thing to do, but at the same time...how and why. Like FYM he's teaching in America now. Dude can't even speak English properly.

It also felt like the ending didn't allow for anything afterwards even tho the manga continues and ngl I'm personally not willing to read it becuz of the ending, Urumi and a few more things that didn't really get resolved.

Either way! It was overall a really fun watch, it gets a 7.8/10 from me

but the more interesting one is that he's a transman. there's so much to play with identity with him: afterall, Kuwana is not JUST an alias, it IS his identity. There's so much to consider in the parallels between going from his gender assigned at birth to Kitakata and then from Kitakata to Kuwana. Cookin a whole fic with this in mind (also it's safe to read the Kitakata fic with this lens tho I didn't think of it when I initially wrote it - it IS there)

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?

bruh I've seen people ship him with his students (Kawai and Mamiya) and imma just say that's a big fat NO

24. What other character from another fandom of yours reminds you of them?

Due to sharing an English VA and some surface level similarities, Korekiyo from Danganronpa V3. But for a deeper characterization, he reminds me SO MUCH of Tangerine from the novel version of Bullet Train. Tangerine is a stone cold killer but he has a strong if somewhat strained relationship with his partner Lemon and the way he treats Lemon reminds me of how Kuwana acts around Yagami. He also likes novels!

TWO German dub episodes in one day!

And I did other stuff today too, huh. Look at me being proactive on a Sunday.

After Twilight does a recap of the previous episodes, he finishes with a bit of encouragement to himself.

"Chin up. It's too early to give up."

He says "Kopf hoch" which literally translates to "Head high". It's interesting to learn new phrases through this. Yor repeats that later to him when she tells him Anya thinks of him as a great father.

"Meanwhile, I've already gotten used to this family life."

The English subtitles (and the translation of the manga) say "we" here. But there's something about him focusing on how he is getting used to this life, if you consider that he's never done anything like that before for a mission.

"Please don't forget to apologize to Damian, okay? Promise me."

Again, that "promise me" was added by the dub.

ASHDGFGS I'm not sure because the subtitles said something different, but I'm pretty sure the girl on the right called Anya "That mafia girl" XD

While Damian was thinking how Anya punched him and how dare she, there was some interesting acting in his lines. He was like "She did this to me, this... (derogatory), this... (furiously derogatory), this... (affectionate)"

I just checked the original version, and it's pretty much the same, only a little more subtle. In the dub the last one was full-on besotted.

Also, Damian thinks to himself something along the lines of "I am number two in succession in the Desmonds" or something, and later on Anya refers to him as "Number two". I wonder if that's what her nickname for him will be in later episodes. It's a little funny, albeit a little sad considering how much it hurts Damian to know he's never put first by his family.

When they have their reading lesson and Anya sees that her book has the different ending to the story that Loid put in to encourage her to apologize (also love the lengths he went to because he didn't know that Anya knew how important that apology was to the mission and how committed she was to giving it), she said "Somehow, Anya's book is broken." And yes, that means she called it kaputt XD

We have OUR FIRST "SCHEIẞE!"

He says it at his outburst to Anya, right before he says that he'll never accept her apology.

It came much earlier than I expected, and I hadn't expected Damian of all people to be the first to say it. I mean, he gets angry and bold, but he is still a kid.

(For those of you who don't know, "Scheiße" means "Shit" and it's the equivalent of that swear word in German)

Loid's German VA does a good job giving him overdramatic reactions. His reaction to Damian rejecting Anya's apology was always a funny moment to me, and the dub delivered in the despair in his voice XD

Yor: Have you asked Anya what she wants?

Loid: Not directly...

Mah dude whatchu talking about you haven't asked her shit

(This is not a dig either at the character or the dub, I just found it funny lol. He still has to keep up the pretense that he's Anya's biological father, after all)

Loid's ending line in this episode was "What would it feel like, if this one was my real family?" and it just hit me so much differently, you know? Because you just want them to stay together, you want this family to be a real one. You don't want Loid/Twilight to find just any family, you want him with them. And him referring to the Forgers in particular in that moment just hit harder. I love it.

happy tuesday, tiffie <33 before the day ends, i have to let you know that i was so incredibly sad on my commute to class this morning :( i was like "omg i have class time to read tbaw- oh ☹️"

in other sad news, i watched the aot finale and cried five times. tbf, i was just extra emotional because aot is my all time favorite anime and something i started when i was still in middle school. saying bye to it felt like saying bye to my childhood :(

some good news though!!! I GOT TO MEET PORCO'S ENGLISH VA AGAIN!!! he was so happy to see an aot fan bc all his m&gs have all been five nights at freddy's fans (which i also am but AOT >>>) and he recognized my cosplay right away and signed my armband 😭 he's such a cool dude and we got to talk about the finale and how porco is the best boy

so despite all the sad things, good things happened too keke

Anime Expo 2023 recap

Well it's long since I've lost my fervant passion for Bocchi The Rock. I still love it, just not to the extent that I'm thinking of it every second. I went to Anime Expo 2023 for 4 days, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Made some friends. Got to see Rie Takahashi in person. I wish I was more excited for that but I was excited enough.

Day 1

Panels all day long. Got up to 6 to arrive in LA around 7:20. Encountered some traffic on the way surprisingly, so I made a note to get up earlier. Lined up for the queue to get in then for the first panel of the day, Colorful Stage with Tomori Husonoki and Hinata Sato. Unfortunately I don't know these two seiyuu that well. I downloaded the game but haven't played it yet. Dunno if I will, I have enough time invested in gacha games. They basically talked about the game and answered some trivia about it. The voice actors visited Santa Monica and they said it was like a pilgrimage for a Japanese show that was shot there. Next up went to the Eminence in Shadow S2 premiere which had Cid's VA Seiichirou Yamashita. I got in while the panel was on going so I missed part of it. Apparently he speaks decent English. Kind of an entertaining guy I think. He didn't say "I am atomic," though. Then saw the first ep of S2. Checked out the entertainment hall for a bit before lining up for the next panel. To my surprise and excitement, they were playtesting Taiko no Tatsujin. Apparently I was the first person to do Oni difficulty. Lined up for the TOHO Animation panel after. Room was full though I barely got in. I was lowkey hoping they would announce something for Takagi-san with Rieri on the panel but that was not the case. They showed some upcoming shows such as JJK, spice and wolf. Last was Spy family, which Takuya Eguchi appeared for. I was walking out to line up for the spy family panel up until Eguchi appeared. Then I stayed. Spy Family Panel with Eguchi was right after that. A friend saved a seat so I got to be near the front. He basically answered a bunch of questions about himself and the show. Did a live reading of one of the lines in the first episode where he is in the train. He also did another scene I think it was about protecting children. He's pretty entertaining. I've listened to the Spy Family radio so I'm kinda used to hearing him. He really likes drinking. Half his answers were related to beer. What's the best way to eat peanuts? With beer. They also gave away a shikishi with his "absolute masterpiece" of a drawing. "Do you guys really want this?" he asked. After the panel, played some Taiko in the entertainment hall. Saw a real pro FC Hibana Ura. Lined up for the Mashle panel. They had the EN and JP voice out for this. Aleks Le apparently went to Japan to work with Kobayashi. They made molds of their fists. No cream puffs though. I'm not the biggest fan of Mashle. I like gag humor but the show's humor doesn't really hit for me. Aleks wore a robe out and brought one for Kobayashi.

Day 2

First was Twisted Wonderland panel. I do not play or care for it, I just wanted to see the voice actors. It has a more female demographic it seems. It was Natsuki Nanae, Chiaki Kobayashi, and someone else I forgot. They did some trivia on stage. Got to check out the exhibits today. Found a lot of bocchi stuff. Lined up for the CDawgVA panel with Ironmouse. Not a huge fan but I saw a clip of them last year and it seemed good. I lined up 30 mins in advance rather than the typical hour. The line went out the hotel. It was fun. Although I wish I left it early as I needed to catch the next panel. The Yakuza panel filled up, I didn't think it would. A lot of people were there to camp for the FGO panel that was next. I watched the panel on stream instead while in line. Strangely, once the doors closed, the line collapsed on itself. Anyway, I got to be on the right most side for the FGO panel and I was able to get into that. I don't care about FGO at all but I needed to see my oshi. She covered her mouth with her hands as she walked out due to all the cheering. The panel itself wasn't very smooth though. It seemed very awkward for the guests. It seemed like they answered questions the guy wasn't asking. Not sure. Overall the guests didn't talk much so they didn't seem like they were necessary for the panel. I just stared at Rieri all the time. She tends to make a lot of cute gestures as others are talking. The panel itself announced a bunch of Fate stuff and updates for the game, none of which I cared about. RIERIIII.

Day 3

I woke up particularly early today for the Rurouni Kenshin panel. Needed to line up early then book it to the queue for the event hall. It worked, I got seated near the front. And for the moment, I was happy. I got to see Rieri up close. She apparently shopped at vintange stores while Soma Saito bought a guitar. Apparently Rieri only addresses Saito as Saito-san whereas she uses "kun" for others. First time for both of them to be in America. Overall a better panel than the FGO one. They got to talk a good amount. I'm trying to remember more from the panel but it's not coming up. It was a good panel though I hope they release the vod somewhere. I checked out the Aniplex and A1 panel for a bit before dipping to explore everything. Had to line up for the Yamada panel at least an hour in advance, and I got in somewhere near the middle or so. This one featured Koki Uchiyama. The whole time he didn't seem like he wanted to be there. Maybe he was tired. I don't think a whole lot of interesting things happened but they announced an English dub. Uchiyama talked really fast. I then stayed to camp for the Rascal movie. It was fine, won't rock your socks off but wasn't bad. Checked out the entertainment hall again before leaving

Day 4

Just lined up for the Horimiya panel and saw that as my only panel for the day. Uchi is here again and he seemed more energized. They actually did some live readings in this panel. Rest of the day was exploring things.

Friday, 10th of February, 12:56am

So my package didn't arrive today because this countries postal service be like that haha. I had a mildly productive day with an alright mood. That mood soon turned very sour when I found out some news. I love the game Genshin Impact, I've been playing since launch and I love the games and the characters. Something I enjoy about the community is the VA's involvment and how they interact with fans over streams and such. Some people have been quick to try and cancel the VA's over non-issues in the past and so when I was first exposed to this with a meme I was like "oh dear what drama do we have now?" Fully expecting it to be another non-issue. I was so very wrong. I read the document with the screenshots and testimonies of the brave victims who came forward about the whole thing. It was a really hard read. I never really got invested in Tighnari's VA because Nari wasn't in my top favourites in game so I never followed the man on any social media or had any kind of strong adoration for him. But it was hard to read because of how fucking vile the things he did were. Reading all the evidence and everything that came out filled me with rage and sadness that someone would use their power to manipulate and emotionally abuse and groom those poor fans. I really hope Hoyo recasts his English VA because he does not deserve to be a part of this game and it's community after what he has done. He knows full well what he did and that it was bad. He actively went out of his way to not leave any paper trails of his interactions with these young people. It's just really fucking shitty.

I just needed to get that out. It's horrendous and those who were targeted are so very brave for coming forward especially after the way he manipulated them to try and keep them quiet.

Aight, I suppose my angry venting corner is done. Into more positive stuff:

Tomorrow I go to pick up my Hatsune Miku tamagotchi and maybe hopefully get a Gengar squishmellow while I'm out? We had the Nintendo direct and so I'm very keen for a few games that were shown off there. Finally a new professor Layton! And Katamari on switch. And some of the new IPs look really interesting too! Oh! And we can't forget the inkopolis DLC for Splatoon 3! Finally, Callie in the plaza for splatfest once again!

That's about all the things I can think of that's been on my mind today.

"¿Me vas a extrañar?"

No answer.

“Bueno, te voy a extrañar.”

There's a small giggle that escapes the toddler in your lap. The sweetest baby, always smiling and laughing with anyone. Calm and always up for a cuddle. A beautiful face who has so much to learn. When tour ends, there will be many things you will miss, but Sarah and her bub are very close on top; they'd be first if Harry wasn't already there claiming the top spot.

It's the second to last show, and you're on baby duty skipping soundcheck in favor of having time together.

"Going to make sure he's bilingual."

Mitch's low voice is welcomed with a giggle as his son quickly catches his arrival.

"More like trilingual. There's a difference between English and well US English," you joke.

Mitch laughs, stepping forward but makes no move to take back his son, who rests carefully in your arms. There's a small duck plushie in his hand before he extends it, waiting for his father to take it.

"Thank you, bubs."

"How was the rehearsal?" You ask Mitch seeing as he was the only one to come by. Sarah promised you'd get something to eat, but she hasn't made her appearance yet.

"Good. He is talking with Jeff about something for the shows. And Sarah is playing a bit more, said something sounded different."

"Ah, the two perfectionists," you mumble. "What would that make us?"

Mitch smiles a small one, "that would make us the better halves."

"I quite like that."

You and Mitch have spent a lot of time together over the few weeks since you joined tour. Mostly around Sarah and Harry, he was quiet and liked observing while you enjoyed keeping a conversation going, always trying to get to know more about someone. Mitch taught you to appreciate the quietness and take in what was happening around you. Being part of the moment is essential, even if we aren't adding anything more.

"Thank you." He expresses.

You shrug, "it's nothing," You smile down at the bub in your arms who is playing with the bracelet on your wrist, having a firm grip on it. "He's the sweetest and most calm baby I've ever met."

Mitch chuckles, "I wasn't referring to my son."

You frown, the bub in your arms copying the face you just made, making you laugh. "Then for what?"

"Making Harry happy."

You freeze for a second, meeting his firm stare before shifting away. "He would be happy without me. He's on tour, living his dream every night with his best friends."

"Don't sell yourself short, Bel."

"I know I've made him happy, I do. I just don't think you should thank me."

Mitch sighs, "Everyone sees Harry as a people's person, kind to anyone and always ready to help when needed. With you, you showed him kindness and openness he had never seen because he was always the one giving it. Sure, he knew the famous you, but by getting to know Bel, he could be himself and shelf away from the persona he wears around new people. He's allowed himself to be vulnerable and open. He allowed himself to feel every emotion, something he never does."

That's a lot to take in. You didn't see the ways he changed because you haven't had the chance to know him for years, but it feels like it. You realize there is so much still for you to learn and experience, but knowing that you've brought him happiness in a way that was noticeable to everyone around him is overwhelming.

You know you aren't the key to his happiness. Without each other, you're good people with passions and values, but together you only become an overall better person.

"Thank you, Mitch. That means a lot coming from you. I know what his friendship means to him, but to know you're also looking out for him is nice. Especially if I'm potentially not there one day."

"Potentially, meaning working, right?" He eyes you, weary of your response.

"Yes, Mitch, I mean for when I'm away for work, not anything else," you assure him. "Don't think I'd leave his side if I didn't have to."

He nods, "I'm going to miss having you around when we start up next year."

"Mitch, do you like me? I would have never guessed," you tease.

"Bel," he deadpans. "I'm sure you'll be a godmother to my son one day if you ever marry H."

"If he doesn't ask me to marry him, can I get dibs on your next child?"

"I'm sure he will, but yes, I'll allow it."

The smile on your face is wide, "you hear that pequeño, going to have me in your life for a long time."

Mitch chuckles, shaking his head.

"Oh, Mitch, I'm going to miss you as well."

Mitch nods, biting back a smile at your confession.

You know, if you ever needed someone in a time of need, Mitch is someone you can go to, you trust him, and he trusts you.

If there is anything you got from joining tour besides finding the love of your life is finding friendships in a lot of the people around you.

"Miss me?" Harry shouts, walking in, causing you to wince as Mitch just got his son to fall asleep. Sarah smacks the back of his head for being so careless. "Ow."

"My son is sleeping, be quiet."

"This is my dressing room," he whispers.

You shoot him a look; he gasps in shock. "You're all against me, rude."

You stretch out your hand for him to take, and he happily takes it, sitting on the open spot next to you, squeezing as close as he can to you. His head falls in the crook of his neck as he lets out a deep sigh.

Mitch shoots you a pointed look, seeing Harry snuggled up to you, a large smile on his face as you rub your hand up and down his back. You chuckle because you might not see it, but he does, and that must mean you're doing something right.

Safe to say, you hope to continue to bring him happiness.

"I'm going on a walk." You announce to the room of men discussing something you have no business being in.

"Bel, is that a good idea?" Jeff asks.

Fatherly concern has been more and more common for Jeff to show you.

"She's fine. It's Arkansas," Tom laughs, brushing off Jeff, knowing you'll be fine on your own.

That reminds you of a funny moment on a TV you watched once, "Arkansas? What the hell is in Arkansas?" You joke.

All of them stare at you, looking serious. Harry is the one to speak up. "Is that a reference to something, love?"

"Yes, to a series that made me lose my mind."

"In a good way?" Luis asks curiously.

"The worst. No, I won't share the name. It could one day come back to bite me in the ass."

All of them laugh, knowing in the industry they work that any kind of comment, malicious or not, could be seen that way.

"I just want to see Junction Bridge; it's a ten-minute walk," you plead, going back to the reason you interrupted them.

Before they can reject you, you look at Harry and muster the saddest eyes you could, and thank goodness you're an actress because you have him eating out of the palm of your hand in seconds.

He nods, causing a smile to blossom on your face, "she'll be fine."

"H!" Jeff scolds.

"Jeff, she's her own person. I'm not going to hold her captive." Harry holds his hand out for you to take. You happily accept it, holding it tight, pressing a kiss to the top of his head.

Jeff sighs, "take someone with you then."

You frown. "Who? You're all busy?"

"I'll go," Luis offers, already getting up, closing his notebook, and handing it off to Tom, whose jaw drops.

"This is your job," Tom says, offended still holding the notebook.

Luis shrugs, "someone's got to keep the true star company." Harry laughs aloud, causing all heads to turn to look at him. "What? Offended."

"God, no. Rightfully respected. Good to know she's in good hands." Harry expresses.

"Excuse you, Styles. If anything, Luis is in good hands."

"Sorry, love. You're right." Harry presses a kiss to your hand before patting your thigh. "Get going then. Need you to help me get ready in a bit."

"Be back soon, friends!" You cheer, walking out with Luis right behind you.

"Call if you need help or security," Jeff yells before Luis can shut the door.

You laugh, going towards the back entrance, knowing fans must be waiting outside already waiting for will call tickets as well as early entrance.

Luis links his arm with yours as he lets you lead the way, "if we're in any trouble, we'll call for help, right?"

"'Course, 9-1-1 on speed dial."

Luis laughs, "I'm serious."

"We will, but I'm sure we can both handle ourselves." You try your best to assure him, with your level of fame, it's a bit hard going out but honestly with a significant chance of being spotted, but you liked exploring and seeing new places. It was even better-having company to enjoy it with.

You kept a conversation going with Luis about what his plans would be like for the holidays if he was excited for a break. He asks about gifts you want for the holidays, books that you've been reading, having told him you try to read a few chapters before bed if you aren't too tired. Harry and you have a  no-phone rule, something he showed you as he focused on his book and less on the light of a screen. It was a big chance for you, seeing as you enjoyed reading on your Kindle, but Harry helped remind you of the importance of enjoying your own and relaxing and taking the time to get out of your head.

The walk was relatively short, and when you arrived, it was a sight to behold. The bridge overlooked the downtown and the river. You bet it looked even better at night or even at sunset. As much as you wanted to see that, you also wouldn't risk missing helping Harry get ready tonight. He had promised you that you would love the outfit for tonight.

"She's a beauty," you breathe out, staring at the bridge as if it would disappear if you looked away.

You stand, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk, suddenly causing a pedestrian walking by to crash into you, all entirely your fault.

“Lo lamento mucho, amigo. Perdóname." You quickly apologize, speaking in Spanish as it's your go-to language when you're caught off guard and feeling embarrassed.

"It's cool, no biggie," The lady in front of you tries to brush off as if you didn't just make her drop her coffee. "It was bad coffee," she tells you, trying to ease the guilt written all over your face.

“Estaba distraída por el puente.” You point behind you, where Luis is now laughing to the side, not at all trying to help.

"Uh, I don't speak Spanish. I watched Encanto with my nephew this morning, but in English. That's Columbian. Is there a difference? I apologize." The girl starts to ramble on, getting more and more nervous, easing your nerves.

"Don't worry, I speak English. I was nervous," you try to assure her. You look behind you at Luis, who just shoots you a thumbs up. At least you know he has an eye on you.

"Oh, good." She breathes out, relieved. Then her eyes widened, "not like you speaking Spanish isn't good–just uhh…that I can understand now." She bows her head. "I'm sorry. I'm not normally this much of a mess."

"Me either," you confess.

"Well, of course not. You're Y/N Belmonte." You both wince as you let her words sit in the air for a second. "That just made this worse." You see her visibly deflate as if wanting the ground to open up and swallow her whole.

You shake your head, "surprisingly, the tamest conversation I've ever held with someone who recognized me. Besides, my boyfriend, he was pretty calm, although he did ramble a bit as well." You're surprised at how you let that slip so casually, but know you'll be fine. You've said no names.

"I'll happily be your girlfriend." She offers.

"That's sweet, but I'm good with one partner." You giggle.

"Me too. I have a girlfriend. You're her girl crush." She spills.

"Not yours?" You ask curiously.

"Well, we have this thing where we can't have the same, or we'll fight, so mine's Saorise Ronan."

"Ah, a fierce competition. She's lovely."

Her face drops at your comment, "the fact you say that so casually baffles me."

"Strange life." She laughs with you, and it's in that moment where you realize you still don't know her name. "I'm sorry, I never got your name. I'm Y/N; you're welcome to call me Bel. Feel like we're friends now."

Her eyes widened, "Well, Bel, I'm Gardenia."

"That's a beautiful name." You see her look away, knowing she must be blushing.

"Thank you, my friends call me Garden."

Your smile widens, "that is precious."

"Bel is quite nice as well," Gardenia assures you.

You scrunch your nose before laughing. "It is. My friend started calling me that a month or two ago, and it stuck. Can't believe I went so long without it."

Gardenia laughs with you. "Nicknames can be sweet or weird. No in between," you tell her.

"That is true," Garden agrees.

"Are you going to the show tonight?" You ask since you're so close to the arena and so close to showtime.

"I am. Surprised my girlfriend with tickets. Sitting in section 109, row 2." She says proudly.

"Oh, that is amazing. Those are good seats."

"You're here for the show?" Gardenia asks. Before you can answer, she answers, "well, of course, you are."

You giggle, "yes, New York was a short flight away, so I thought I'd come to enjoy the show."

"You're rumored to be a special guest at the final show in Long Island. Deuxmoi said it, and it's all anyone talks about online. Trust me, I spent too much time there. This was a nice surprise."

"Deux who?"

Gardenia laughs, full belly bending over. "Deuxmoi, this celebrity update page where everyone sends in their celebrity tips in code most of the time."

"Can you tell I'm not online a lot?" You wince. "I have full control of my social media pages, don't get me wrong, I just don't like being on there."

"Oh, I love posting photos of my girlfriend. Nina hates it but always makes sure to like my photos."

"That is adorable." You pout at the thought. You might not be able to share your relationship, but sending photos in your group chat is just as satisfying.

"I'm fortunate," Gardenia nods, lost in thought.

"Bel, come on. We got to head back soon. We still have to get your photo." Luis yells, seeing there is no end to your conversation.

You turn to him, giving him a thumbs-up, "give me a minute, please." He nods.

You look back at Garden and smile at her, "I wanted to see the Junction Bridge. Promised them I wouldn't be spotted."

Gardenia's face goes grim, "guess I ruined that, huh."

"No, you're fine, darling. I do have to get going. Got to sneak my way past the crowd back in."

Garden nods, "I've got to start getting ready."

"It was lovely meeting you." You tell her with a genuine grin.

"You as well, Bel," she emphasizes.

"Would you like a photo?" You offer before you go."

She shakes her head, a sincere smile on her face, "thank you, but no." Garden pauses, looking down at the floor before looking up at you, "this conversation was everything and more. Promise I'll keep your appearance here a secret."

"I appreciate that. Please do take care, Garden. Send Nina my love."

"You take care, too, Bel."

You lean in and give her a short hug before walking away, both going in different directions moving on with your life.

"So much for not being recognized," Luis says as soon as you approach him.

You shove his shoulder lightly, "shut up and take my photo."

Smiling at the phone doing silly poses, you think about the conversation and how nice it is to genuinely meet people who want nothing in return.

"Are you going to tell Harry about your encounter?"

"And not share the joyous news of being someone's girl crush and being asked to be someone's girlfriend in the span of ten minutes, of course, I will."

"He's going to be jealous," Luis sing-songs.

"He'll be fine when he sees I'm so flattered."

"You know if your relationship was public, then he'd definitely call out the fan."

You laugh, knowing fully well that Luis is not wrong.

Harry pouted the entire time you told the story, first for not being there to meet someone so kind, but also because she happened to ask you out.

"Seems I've got competition everywhere we go."

You roll your eyes, "okay, Mr. Dramatic. I doubt that."

He shakes his head, "Bel, you're everyone knows your name famous."

"As are you," you rebuttal.

"Yeah, but I'm not being asked out in person."

"Awe does that make you sad," you tease.

Harry rolls his eyes, "you're such a brat."

"Me?" You widen your eyes dramatically, hands resting on your chest. "Never."

"Yes, you. You told me the story to make me jealous."

You giggle because he's right. You love it when he gets possessive. Love it when he reminds you no one can love you like he can. Except, he can't right now. Meaning when he gives it to you later, the build-up will be high and even more worth the wait.

"Amor, I would never," you continue denying.

"Brat," he mutters affectionately, buttoning up his blue trousers. With that final step, he is done getting dressed. He never fails to take your breath away. His perfectly styled hair, rosy cheeks, and open chest were a sight you would never get tired of.

"You look beautiful, H."

The outfit for tonight is gorgeous. As Harry adjusted the button up the deep blue shimmery disco-themed top, you couldn't help but be mesmerized by the way it catches the light. Harry will look like a shining star more than ever on stage tonight. You told him to forgo the suspenders tonight, but he told you his pants slipped too much without it. It had to do with all the working out he enjoyed doing while touring. The boxing was hot to watch. You can proudly admit that you leave there a wreck each time.

"Think so?"

"I do. You are beautiful, rockstar."

Harry's blush is apparent as he looks at you with a look full of love, his eyes shining bright, and it's not due to the light in the room.

"Thank you."

"Think the fans will like the clean shaved face?"

Harry grins, "I don't care what they think as long as I know that my girlfriend does."

"You know I don't mind," you mutter, thinking about the difference you'll feel with his face between your thighs.

Harry tuts, pointing at you, "filthy."

You gasp in shock, "how dare you."

"You're filthy, Bel," he purrs out.

You hate how he makes you weak in the knees (you don't).

"Lies, I wasn't even thinking of anything."

"I highly doubt that," he steps closer to you. "Your brain always seems to be on the run. My girl doesn't know how to relax."

"Shut up, not true."

"It is."

He may be correct, but you're not admitting defeat. "We were talking about you, not me."

Harry shakes his head, "if I were to put my hand between your thighs and touch those pretty lilac panties you put on today for me, they wouldn't be wet?"

He smirks as he sees your breathing get heavier and your legs closed shut, shuffling away from him.

"Stop it. You don't even have time to help get me off."

"Oh baby, I have all the time in the world when it comes to you," he assures you.

Just as he trapped you against the wall, his lips close to descending on you, Tommy swung the door wide open, "H, let's go."

"For fuck sakes," he steps away from you, and know he's trying to think of anything to make his stiffy go away.

You shake your head, "you were saying?"

"I'm sorry, later." He promises, kissing your forehead before grabbing your hand and taking you with him to get a proper kiss good luck.

Showtime.

You feel sad about tour ending, and you weren't even here for the first show. You joined from St. Paul and never looked back. You honestly aren't sure what you'd be doing if you hadn't joined tour if you hadn't gone to that show in Minnesota. Honestly, you don't even want to think about it because thinking about it means a life without Harry in your life, and you can no longer think of a time without him in it.

You want him with you for everything, for red carpet events, long shooting days, but most importantly, you want someone to go home to. To be able to call or see him and know you're safe for as long as you're with him. Your love was genuine and pure, as was Harry's, and that is why you knew you'd be stronger than ever after New York.

As you kissed Harry, good luck; you took a look around as everyone was chatting and knew there would only be one more night of this beautiful environment you were lucky to be invited into.

"You alright, darling?" Harry asks as he's walked over to his 'soft goods' box; you smile at him as he gets in, settling easily.

"Perfect, excited to see you sing."

"I didn't pay her to say that," he tells everyone around, wanting to get everyone to laugh, and he succeeds as the room bursts into laughter.

His green eyes shine bright. "Love you, sunshine. This is for you."

With that, the box is shut, and he is rolled out, and soon loud screams can be heard as the fans watch a box roll down the long walkway.

"Let's go to our spots before loverboy has a heart attack for not seeing you in your spot." Jeff ushers you out.

"But I wanted to wish the band good luck."

You point to the closed door where they should be walking out of in any second.

"Can congratulate them after," Jeff laughs as he watches you pout.

Jeff drags you out, the lights are out, and the final song begins to play before he makes his way to the stage.

Time to enjoy the second to last show.

Since Harry had gone on stage, each song was brilliant; the crowd was attentive and sang along. Lots more screams and a tight pit. You loved the environment where everyone came together to enjoy their favorite artist and enjoy the music.

Today the show seemed to fly by, and before you knew it, Harry had begun to interact with the crowd. Reading signs and giving answers. You saw him stop in front of one and read it a few times before deciding to read it out loud to the crowd.

"Who's Y/N's favorite band member?" Harry reads.

Before he can answer, the band, in unison, replies, "me," making Harry burst into laughter.

"Do you think we should ask her?" Harry asks his band but also the crowd.

Your eyes widen because he's not seriously going to talk to you directly, right? No one, but Gardenia, the fan you met, knew you were in Arkansas.

Harry looks to be speaking quietly into his in-ear, and a few seconds later, a member from the team runs from the side and towards Harry with something in hand, his phone.

You let out a deep breath before panicking because your phone was about to ring. Jeff and Tommy look at you, waiting to see what you'll do, not saying anything leaving the choice up to you.

Harry is smirking, staring down at his phone, "it's ringing," he says into the microphone. He brings up the phone to his ear, and you watch your phone ring and ring.

You never answer.

Harry doesn't look your way at all; he shrugs, "that hurts, she didn't answer." The crowd laughs, "oh well."

"Try again," someone from the pit yells.

"One more, and that's it. She's a busy person and doesn't have time for little ol' me, "Harry jokes.

Your eyes widen, and you look at Jeff, "get me to a room quiet enough to silence the crowd and make sure it has a screen."

"Think the private showers should be good. They have that large monitor."

A friendly worker for the venue takes you back, with Tallulah coming with telling you she wanted to record your interaction. You allow her knowing it's going to make for good content to show your family.

Just as Tallulah closes the door, your phone begins to ring, and you see Harry staring down at it, probably staring at your photo. It was one from New York where you were smiling widely, showing off the large slice of pizza in your hand. He claimed it was his favorite, but truthfully he had a folder of favorites of photos he's taken.

You answer on the third ring, "hello," you greet calmly as if it was a casual occurrence to speak with him on the phone, and it was.

Harry gasps, putting the phone close to the microphone. "She answered." You giggle as you hear it through the phone.

"Bel, how are you? It's Harry."

"Know it's you, H. Got caller id, dork."

Harry chuckles, the audience does as well, "aish, sorry."

"Why is it so loud?" You ask before you fake a gasp, "H, aren't you on stage right now?" You bite back a laugh; someone should give you an award for this performance.

"Well, I am on stage." On the screen in front of you, he begins to pace, sharing a look with Mitch, who just shakes his head.

"Everyone say hi to Y/N."

Screams are heard on the phone, and you laugh with Tallulah.

"Hello, Little Rock."

"Where are you?" Harry asks.

"Home," you answer softly and watch as Harry's smile deepens.

"Good, that's good." He nods, "what were you doing?"

"Oh, you know…stuff."

Harry scoffs, "good answer, not suspicious at all."

"You really want to know?"

"Yes, that's why I asked."

"Just finished answering emails. Boring."

He winces, "should have made up something cool."

You roll your eyes, "geez, thanks, is there a reason you called during the middle of a show, H?"

"Yes, there is, thank you." He clears his throat before continuing on. "Someone brought a sign asking who is your favorite band member?" He tells you standing in front of the person with the sign who is now standing there frozen sign still above her head.

"Do you count as part of the band?"

"Yes, I do."

"Well, it's not you."

Harry's mouth drops in surprise, "ouch, break my heart, why don't you."

You giggle, "you want my all-time favorite band member or today's?"

"Are you saying you have a favorite of the day?"

"Sometimes."

"Okay, give me your favorite member of the day."

"Well, it has to be Mitch."

The crowd cheers, beginning to chant Mitch. The camera zooms in on Mitch, who just plays with the strings of his guitar, sending a nod your way in acknowledgment.

"Did you see his moves during Sunflower?"

"They were good," he agrees. "Wait, how do you know?"

You laugh, thankful for the save. "Not sure if you're aware, but a fan is streaming your show."

"Ah, lucky you then."

"So you weren't answering emails," he catches your lie.

"I was. I stopped after Sunflower. My best friend is still watching if you are worried about views."

"I was. Thank you for the assurance."

This man lives for theatrics.

"Can the band hear me?" You check-in.

"They can," he confirms, curious about what you want to tell them.

"I love you, Sarah's Band. Honorable mention to Elin, Niji, and Pauli; you're all incredibly talented. Oh and Sarah, I love you. Bye, everyone."

Tallulah finishes recording laughing to herself before telling you she'd be waiting outside. You focus on Harry, who has still not hung up.

Harry takes the phone away from the microphone bringing it up to his ear, "thanks for playing along, baby."

"Should have given us both an oscar for that performance," you tease.

"Pretty good, huh."

"The best."

"Think the show must go on." He frowns, knowing he has to hang up.

"I'll hug you in half an hour, now go sing and dance for me, rockstar."

"I love you.

"I love you, H."

Harry hangs up, handing his phone off before looking at the crowd who are waiting for him to continue, "you want to know what she said?" He pauses, letting the cheers die down, "well, too bad."

"This is Canyon Moon."

You walk out shaking your head at the moment and joining the others once more. Harry had a fun time, but so did you. You wonder what your friend in the audience thought of the moment, knowing very well you were in the audience.

You let that go and instead allow yourself to dance and sing. It would be one of your last times for a long while.

"Sweet Bel," Harry's voice echoes out loud through the quiet dressing room where it is now you too. There seemed to be a problem with the bus, and you were told to stay put. After Harry had come off stage, he tackled you in a hug apologizing for putting you on the spot like that, but also happy you went along with it. You told him it was okay because it was, and you enjoyed that. He made you feel part of the show instead of someone who watches each night.

You know this show will be one of the most talked-about. Luis had informed you that you were both number one and number two trending on all social media in less than ten minutes. The video was circulating all around like rapid fire. Something you'd never get used to was how fast news seemed to travel now, thanks to the internet and social media. You'd have to check if your friend in this state had sent you a message. You honestly wanted to know what she thought during it, if she was just as worried as you, probably less.

Now alone in his dressing you with no one to interrupt, Harry wanted to continue his earlier promise.

You could see the dark look of desire in his eyes and knew he wanted to ravage you. You were not opposed to the idea; he was a passionate lover. You always seemed to crave him, never able to get enough of him.

Except, as much as you wanted to say fuck it and let him have his way you, you knew there was a chance for someone to come looking for you.

"Amor, ahora no."

Harry shrugs, "I don't understand what you said."

You'd enjoy it because it was coming to an end, and soon you won't be getting him every day.

"You ready for New York, mi amor?" You ask Harry as he slips his sweater over your head, making sure you're warm before heading outside to the harsh air. Jeff had called ten minutes ago telling you to meet him outside at fifteen. You and Harry stayed cuddled on the couch for as long as you could and now were dressing to go out and ride on the tour bus for the final night.

"I am. Sad tour is ending." He shrugs but offers you a timid smile. "I love singing on stage every night and having all the fans there, but I'm ready to go home."

"I'm sad too. This has been the best few months," you confess, holding on tight to his hand that found its way to rest on your cheek, giving you the comfort you seek.

"Fell in love on love on tour, who would have thought?" He teases.

"Don't fall in love with someone else in the audience on your next tour," you joke, but there's a pinch of fear behind your words that you not being there will be a significant shift in your relationship, although that is unreasonable.

Harry's eyes soften, the smile is gentle as he presses his lips against yours. "I love you," he states simply. "I'm going to love you for as long as you let me and long after. Rest assured, I will fight for you."

"H," you whisper.

He grins, "it seems you're stuck with me. You alright with that?"

You nod, "there's nothing I'd love more."

The Forgotten Shounen: Katekyo Hitman Reborn

This is not a “Why you should watch/read khr” or anything like that. This is just me going into the deep dive and throwing my findings at you. I’m making this because khr used to be my favourite series when I was 15 (I had plushees, posters, tradingcards, the art book etc) and now as an adult I constantly find myself baffled at how unknow it seems to be.

1. Okay first what is khr?

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! or just Reborn! is a series by Akira Amano which was published in Weekly Shounen Jump from 2004 to 2012 (with 42 volumes) and got an anime adaption which run from 2006 to 2010 on Tv Tokyo (with 202 episodes and one OVA).

2. What’s it about?

Khr is a parody of the italian mafia and plays in a world where the mafia is heavily influencial. The protagonist is the japanese middle schooler Sawada Tsunayoshi who is known as “No good Tsuna” because of his failing grades, general weak and cowardly personality and weak physics.

He becomes aware of the mafia world when a 2 year old baby called Reborn arrives at his house claiming to be the greatest hitman and declaring himself his home tutor. Reborn was send by the 9th head of the Vongola famiglia who is ready to retire and looking for a new heir. Which of course, is supposed to be Tsuna and now it's Reborns job to shape him into a worthy sucessor.

Tsuna rejects the violence of the mafia world and refuses the position as the 10th. Thanks to Reborn and his general craziness Tsuna meets different people and starts to make real friendships. Reborn wants 6 of those friends to be Tsuna's future guardians, basically a group of people which will be closest to him in the vongola famiglia. Tsuna might have no interest in those positions but the friendships he builds with them become really precious to him.

Reborns arrivial also brings in the enemies of the Vongola family which leads to Tsuna being forced to engage in battles. Generally Tsuna openly avoids fights and prefers to run away but will put himself in danger for his friends' sake or because of something Reborn did.

Through out the series Tsuna matures and gains strenght but he never becomes a power fantasy. He's just a guy with many flaws who grows through the human connections he makes.

Personally I think the relationship between Reborn and Tsuna is one of the best student teacher reltaionships in all of manga only topped by Mob and Reigen from Mob Psycho 100. Especially the last arc really underlines their unique relationship to me.

Furthermore, khr offers a new and unique battle system: The flames. I'm not gonna go into to too much detail but the general idea is that one fights with their dying will flame which basically turns off your the savety switch so you can fight with everything you have. The flames are seperated into different categories such as: sky, storm, mist, rain, sun, lightning and cloud and have different attributes asigned to each one. Tsuna's use of the sky flame and his transformation when using it is still one of my favourite shounen transformations to this day.

3. What happened?

The series did really well and then not so well over the course of its serialisation. After the manga got an anime adaption it increased in populairty and video games, light novels, and other products such as CDs were created based on the series. Reborn is one of the best selling series of Weekly Shōnen Jump and has sold around 30 Million volumes overall. It was and still is very popular in Japan but rather unknown in the west.

According to the article "The Rise and Fall of Weekly Shonen Jump: A Look at the Circulation of Weekly Jump" khr was the 10th bestselling series in Weekly Shōnen Jump, with a total of 7 million copies sold in 2007.

This number increasing to 15 milion in 2008. Which placed khr into the 4th best selling series of 2008 in Japan.

Between 2008 and 2010 those sales declined but still kept strong with khr as the 6th top selling manga in 2009, 8th best selling in 2010 and then 24th best selling in 2012.

In November 2014, readers of the Da Vinci magazine voted khr number 17 on a list of Weekly Shōnen Jump's greatest manga series of all time.

After the anime came to an apprupt stop in 2010 for unknown reasons the manga sells took a visible hit. (Apparently the studio wanted to put the anime on halt because they were busy with other projects and give Akira Amano time to develop her story but I couldn't find any source for this claim) Furthermore, the rushed last chapters of the manga in 2012 declined the popularity of the series even more. There's no offical statement as to why the manga was ended in such a way but it's reasonable to assume that Jump either cut it considering the decreasing sales or Akira Amano choose to end it for personal reasons.

Nontheless, Tsuna not being included in Jump Force (a fighting game where you can play as different characters from Jump) in 2019 even tho he made it in earlier Jump Stars games also underlines the decreased interest in the series.

Rumors on a reboot or anime adaption of the last two arcs surface from time to time but are genereally unlikely. Artland the studio which made khr has gone bankrupt around 2015-2016. It might be taken on by another studio but rather uncommen especially with such an old series.

4. Art style

The khr anime ended over 10 years ago and the old art style might not be appealing to newer audiences.

Especailly because the anime adaption follows Akira Amanos old art style which heavily developed within the years. Here a picture comparing characters in the new art style:

A modern anime adaption in the new art style would be aesthetically pleasing. It would probably look similiar to Psycho Pass since Akira Amano did the concept art for this series.

(My personal art student hot take is that both art styles are unique and fun. Up to this day Akira Amano still has my favourite art style and even if the amount folds in the characters clothing is a little extreme I love it dearly.)

5. Criticism

The show is not without flaws and even if I greatly enjoy it it wouldn't be right not to adress them.

Daily Life Arc:

A lot of people view the first 20 to 25 episodes as fillers and quickly lose intererst in the series. This is due to the fact that Akira Amano inteded the series to be a gag manga and focuses the first chapters on world building, character introduction and comical narratives. It's rumored that the decision to develop the story into a battle shounen was made because the sales weren't doing well enough at first. So the first chapters/episodes may seem titidious but are necessary for the story and the development of the characters. The tonal shift from a more gintama like gag manga to a darker battle focused story can also be offputting to some viewers.

Either way a lot of people blame this arc when discussing why khr never got an english dub or didn't end up on Toonami. I've also read that the manga never finished serializing in the north america. However, it finished in other western languages like german and spanish.

Censoring:

The anime censors A LOT. From Gokudera's smoking habit, Yamamoto's whole character arc which deals with heavy themes such as depression and suicidal thoughts. The general bloodiness of the manga was censored and sometimes whole chapters and characters were left out even if those were important to the devolopment of others.

Filler episodes:

Out of the 202 episodes the anime has around 29 filler episodes which makes roughly 14 %.

Sexism:

Even if Reborn was written by a woman most female characters are rather flat and their storylines often tied to a male character in one way or another.

Genereal things:

Khr, like many other long running series, is sometimes criticised for a lack of world building or unpopular narrative choices.

6. Hope?

Khr isn't exactly dead. As stated before the series is still very popular in Japan and still gets new merch pretty regulary. There are also petitions floating around for a reboot or a new anime season but those never get a lot of traction. Furthermore #Reborn2期アニメ化 (#Reborn2ndAnimation) used to get some traction on twitter not too long ago. Last year the Anime News Network did a poll on which anime the readers would like to see a rebooot of and khr placed second.

Either way here's a collection of recent khr things I could find.

- In 2018 a new bluray set was released in north america

- The khr stage play reached yet another new season

- A mobile game was released last year

- Currently ongoing anime cafe event called "Concerto di Vongola"

- Last month there was an event with the former VAs and stage play actors where they discussed their favourite khr episodes.

- There has been an increase in blind reacts to the openings on youtube which might bring in a new fan base. The biggest one I could find had around 90k views and was made in 2019. On this note check out the soundtrack. The first openeing Drawing Days by SPLAY still makes me go insane (but I'm biased of course)

There also renewed hope for a new season/reboot because Shaman King, Inuyasha and Bleach got anounced for new seasons after a long hiatus. It's important to keep in mind that the circumstances for those series are differnt tho. For example bleachs new anime is often tied to the immense success of the gatcha game.

7. Conclusion

Khr is a series which used to be a flagship for Weekly Shounen Jump and is deeply beloved by it's fans, especially in Japan. It influenced other shounen series like bnha. It would be nice to see it gaining a bigger fanbase in the west :)

I'd be very interested in hearing your Fodlan thought, especially given your dragon bias ^^ TBH, the fandom hype kind of melted down, but there are still some randoms posting shit in the main tags and trying to start a discourse war. If you ever need a reference or something to check the script and what not, I suggest the FE datamine site ! I always use this website when I try to write something intelligent about Fodlan, and they also have the voiced lines !

Oh yeah, I absolutely expected hype to be gone by now, but I think for me it's better that way. I know there's been discourse but I know it was much worse before. I'm not that great handling discourse mentally because it starts to stress me out. I like discussions and hearing people's points of view, but I've literally had this one moron on Twitter recently come to me saying Edelgard never said she was willing to sacrifice her citizens and whatnot for her ambitions... even though I even openly stated it was in the Lonato chapter and they insisted they were tired of Edelgard haters "making things up about her to justify hating her". Like... nah, I don't justify reasons to hate people, I hate people for reasons. I don't actively seek out reasons to hate characters, and much less so when they're insanely popular. Suffice to say that person was blocked after only two messages about it. Like, for real, if you like Edelgard... don't deny shit that was straight up said in game. Now you just look like a total fool and can't even defend her properly. Oh yeah, and let's not forget she hid behind an entire city of citizens in VW.

I do use fedatamine! I love that site and how much content it has. As a writer it really helps me for easy research for characters, too.

I do also enjoy reading Kimmy's posts and seeing some of the accounts on Twitter that do translation. I do prefer the content in the JP version. The only reason I'm not as familiar with it as the English content is because the English voice acting is so stellar and amazing, and I much prefer it. For anime I tend to prefer JP, but in games it's usually English, though in TH's case the acting was just perfection and I love hearing the VA's stories about their recording sessions.

Rest is under the cut because l o n g again. I'll answer your second half of the ask later as well! I just need a break after this mess of a post LOL.

I wish the localization didn't do all the scummy things it did to Rhea and Edelgard's characters. I love Rhea's character and the fact she's not perfect despite being the archbishop, and tbh Rhea's arc is basically a mirror of Dimitri's, in that it looks the same but it's reversed in a sense: she doesn't get better nearly as well arc-wise as he does and she doesn't get redemption unless you get her S support, more or less. She basically has the same trauma based decision making, but we don't see her journey experiencing it the way we see Dimitri's, so people don't feel Rhea's emotional journey the same way. The localization portrays her as creepy and possessive, but Edelgard literally is the type of reason that is the reason why she's been the way she is. Seteth also, since he won't reveal his identity or let Flayn's be known. The reason he's so overprotective toward Flayn isn't just because she's his daughter. It's because he's terrified of people like Edelgard who will try to wipe them out simply for being dragons. Their worst fear was exactly what Edelgard did. The reason Rhea executed people so swiftly was because she didn't want people digging up their past, full of murdered family and friends that left them so few in number. Rhea also has issues with it all because it has to do with her mother who was murdered.

Ultimately I can forgive Rhea because what she did she did out of fear and trauma. Edelgard can claim trauma all she wants, but not when she's actively working with the people who caused it and believing anything they tell her. She plans to kill them, like, okay, so what, but Dimitri and Claude were right there and she could've allied with them. If she gave Dimitri five seconds to talk to her, she would've even eventually remembered or had at least been told she was his step sister. By the end of AM when she does remember, it's too late because she's too deep into her own war to stop now. It's like... sure, maybe once she realized she had one sibling left she would've stopped, but would she really have? And even then, again, by the time it actually happened it was too late for her.

I can't wrap my head around how people can dislike or even hate Rhea but love Edelgard and/or Dimitri when Rhea's arc is very similar to Dimitri's and nothing she does is worse than Edelgard's actions. Also let's not forget the cringey graverobbing that Edelgard takes part in. She was commiting crimes before she even had the chance to commit war crimes.

Also, Rhea is actually very kind and sincere when it's not about her mother. I can understand why she's seen as overbearing regarding Byleth because of the Sothis stuff, but Cyril is a perfect example of the fact that there's more to her than just all that Sothis stuff. Claude is right that Fodlan is hesitant about anything beyond its borders, but that did not at all stop Rhea from taking Cyril in despite where he came from, so Rhea isn't the problem with the borders and people disliking anything outside of it. Rhea is more than willing to take people into Fodlan's borders. She would have rejected "outsiders" from the Academy if she didn't want them there. It's a place where people can learn together and study with students from far away. She's in power, sure, but she's also uniting other lands in a less direct way than Claude wants, and of course she has much more life to live than Claude so Claude is more impatient in getting these things to progress than she is.

Edelgard hates that Rhea is leading humans, but she's taking care of them and stopping chaos from breaking out. She tells Byleth not to tell anyone what happened to Miklan and I do believe that was out of sincere concern for how people would react to the relics. She's not trying to hide things to be shady. She's hiding things to stop public panic. Sylvain even admits it's not something he'll soon forget, and the sight was horrible for him even though Miklan was awful to him. It was still a terrible thing to witness and it proves Rhea correct that people just should not know about it. Even Gilbert, who serves people who use a relic, was astonished by what happened.

Everything Rhea hides she hides for a good reason, and she's established a lively community and allowed lots of different nations within Fodlan's borders. Edelgard simply does not like anyone who isn't human leading humans, whether it's benefitting them or not. Rhea is literally making a place for people to live and grow and meet people from other lands. All she needed was a push in a better direction regarding her trauma. Even Seteth didn't like the things involving Byleth and experiments, but Rhea isn't proud of that either. She's messed up and lost in her grief and was willing to do anything, and in present time of the game she's still like that when the topic comes up, but when she's sane enough and able to think clearly, she regrets the concept of what she did. The problem is that, unlike with Dimitri, we don't get lots of depth into her regret, and so people vilify her for it. Edelgard thinking dragons are "beasts" who don't deserve to lead humans shows how tone deaf she really is to what was happening around her. She became a puppet for her real enemies, and in VW, it's thanks to Hubert and not once Edelgard that Claude even found out about them and was able to stop them. Thanks to Edelgard starting a war and removing people from power and whatnot, they were able to take advantage of it all and have time to revive Nemesis. Literally, if Hubert didn't do something, Nemesis would've just been set loose on Fodlan before Claude's army even had time to be aware of it. In VW Edelgard dies having done nothing to stop them and dies having been just a puppet.

Let's not forget that Hapi can single handedly wipe out TWS in her non-CF endings. Edelgard tried to use her power given to her by TWS to defeat Dimitri's army in AM, further helping them by trying to kill those of other bloodlines (exactly what they wanted), and meanwhile Hapi is using the shit they did to her to take them out and use what they did to her against them. Hapi is everything Edelgard should have been and refused to be because she's completely tone deaf to what was really happening in the world and too stubborn to listen to anyone telling her she was wrong. Hapi didn't like the Church either, but she didn't take out her trauma on the wrong people. She admitted she didn't like them, didn't start a war over it and eventually targeted the people who did her wrong. In AM, not only do you kill Thales because he got cocky with attacking the Alliance, essentially giving the Duscur storyline closure even if Dimitri didn't realize it right away (which he probably did because he knew "Arundel" was behind it and he'd just killed Arundel, so he still did what he wanted to do even if he didn't know Thales' exact identity. At that point it didn't even matter), but if recruited, Hapi will wipe out TWS in the ending the same way Edelgard takes an entire army to do so post CF (which I know is a sucky way to end TWS either way, and they should've been more of a threat that you actually fight in game, but we know how that whole shtick went).

My biggest problem with Edelgard stans is that so many of them refuse to admit she's the villain and that she was a terrible person to her own people and to innocents not among her people. Some people do like her a villain and imo that's really the only way it can be. Just because she's a human being who has feelings and yadda yadda doesn't mean what she did was okay or good for Fodlan. You can argue a murderer irl doesn't deserve the death penalty or jailtime for their action(s) because they're a person with feelings, but if they killed innocent people "for their ambitions", everyone would find that completely abhorrent. If Edelgard only set out to kill TWS and the game was more like, she's misguided about the Church but eventually realizes she was completely wrong, that would be one thing and she could turn around and they could blame the war on TWS, seeing as it was their plan. The issue is that she went through with it despite people telling her left and right that she was wrong. Hell, she had Ferdinand arguing with her before she even started a war, saying she was wrong. He was right there the entire time and she refused to listen. Tbh I absolutely cannot in any way see Ferdinand joining her cause even in CF. It makes no sense at all with his character prior to that point.

Also the fact that I've literally seen Edelgard stans put Dimitri down for things he does even though he's the sincere one, and even though he has legitimate mental illnesses/ It's honestly gross. People preach irl mental health and awareness, and even though TH is a fictional story, it's still proving so much hypocrisy when people put him down for it just because Edelgard is "uwu girlboss" and insults him for it.

I've seen arguments about psychosis and schizophrenia, and between researching the two and having a friend diagnosed with the latter, I'm much more inclined to say Dimitri likely has schizophrenia. Psychosis is a symptom, but schizophrenia is a condition. The latter is much more extreme and can be treated but won't really go away, and that's something Dimitri will be the case when he says he knows he'll be dealing with it all his life. When he says he won't listen to the voices anymore, he's admitting he still hears them despite his condition improving. It never goes away in game like some people claim (and hate on the writing for it too, which is a bad excuse to hate on the writing for because him just "getting better" does not happen at all, and he still shows he hasn't fully emotionally recovered throughout the rest of AM and is still adjusting to returning to normal behavior).

I get Edelgard has trauma, but that doesn't excuse what she does because of it. Dimitri doesn't excuse what he did because of it and plans to spend the rest of his life working to make up for it for the living. Rhea even stops excusing her actions because of trauma in VW/SS. Claude also doesn't excuse that he uses people for selfish reasons. Edelgard shows so many signs of being a narcissists and refusing to take responsibility for what she does and blaming her actions on others is a huge sign of that. It's even mentioned in game that everything has to be all about her, and I'm pretty sure it's in Caspar's supports with her that he sees her that way too.

Trauma doesn't give you a free pass to start a war and cause poverty and murder across a whole continent.

I chose this topic more specifically because of you mentioning my bias toward the dragons in FE, because yeah, I'm pretty fond of Seteth and Flayn and even Rhea. I don't like Sothis because of her personality from the one we know, but I don't hate her.

Also, that conversation between Edelgard and Lissa in FEH? Astounding. Lissa doing god's work by shutting her down. That shit really soared my opinion on Lissa LOL.

Edelgard better watch where she steps talking like that in front of a bunch of people from Jugdral though lmao. They revere dragons and appreciate them leading humans and aiding them. Give Sety two seconds and he'd wreck her. If Holsety's identity was found out, give him one second only and he will wreck her for being so vile toward his family. :( That is his father, woman, watch your monster feetheels. >/

So this theory is crazy and I expect no one to believe me but I feel very confident about it. I'd even bet real money on it.

Some of this just occurred to me in a discussion in one of my posts but I've been thinking this for awhile.

Jaken's VA made a remark to Rin's VA about how he never knew she had it in her. A lot of people took this to mean Rin was the mom. This never made sense to me because the statement implied she did something out of character. My personal feelings about Sessrin aside, it was expected by a majority of the fanbase and would not be considered OOC.

But sweet kind Rin turning evil would be.

I'm serious. And I know some people will take this as me being a big bad anti who not only wants Kagura to be the mom but is turning Rin into the bad guy. But actually, Rin being the villian ups the probability of her being the mom for me. I think Yashahime has an underlying theme of defeating one's parents.

I posted my theory that Rin is a yukionna a while back. There's still not a lot of evidence but I have found more since then. To summarize:

Rin has the appearance of one. Google that shit, it's dead on.

I think she is trapped in ice and surrounded in melting snow, not just water. Sunrise has hinted at the idea of being trapped in ice by releasing two different photos of Takechiyo from the polar bear episode. And I have found they often use the website and twitter to post extra screenshots of something they want us to notice. Interestingly, Takechiyo is posed like a buddha. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else noticed and thought it was relevant to this theory. I don't think so, but it probably is a clue to something unrelated.

In close ups of Rin you can see similar facets of a crystal-like structure, and I think it's ice.

I think Towa calling out Who is this onna? was also a clue. In speaking to a few Japanese fans, I learned some were also struck at use of "onna" and are researching the various youkai "onnas". Them being Japanese doesn't make them experts, of course, but they would be more familiar with the nuances of the language used.

There was a call out the "Yuki" part of her name in a clue everybody noticed. In Towa's english class on the white board, it says Yuki is going to Kyoto.

The polar bear demon has crystals embedded in forehead similar to the ones on the beast minion of another yukionna in Inuyasha. I think this was a callout to that episode.

There was a parallel made between Riku and Rin. Riku said he was forsaken by his master. Treekyo asked Sesshomaru if he would forsake Rin. I believe Riku is going to be portrayed as a Satan like character. So he can be considered a fallen angel. In this case, Rin is also a fallen angel. But I don't think Sesshomaru has forsaken her. I think she is in that ice structure to save her from herself and prevent her from harming others.

I think this is why Treekyo said it may be better for Rin to stay that way.

So how did Rin become a yukionna. She could have been the victim of one and was possessed. Or maybe they are treating it as something that can transfer like vampirism. A yukionna does have some vampire like qualities.

At the moment, I am inclined to think this was something she might have done to herself or was tricked into doing so she could get her "forever with Lord Sesshomaru".

The next episode has a sage that has turned into a demon. This is partly a Naraku parallel but there's a difference. I think this is the same sage that fixed the lake in the new episode. I think he will be presented as a good person who was corrupted by a demon. This will be a foreshadow of what has happened to Rin.

Ultimately, I think the girls will have a confrontation with Rin, and instead of defeating her, she will be freed of whatever has corrupted her.

Yashahime has been using the Wuxing 5 phases a lot to provide clues and associations. I think Rin will be associated with the water element which is connected to the color black. I think the girls will discover the existence of a black pearl and everyone will assume it's Inuyasha's. But it's not. It's Rin's and when she is uncorrupted, it will turn into the missing orange pearl. Kinda like how the corrupted shikon jewel is a dark purple instead of the purified pink. Rin would also be considered a hanyo, and a big deal was made over them having rainbow pearls.

Now, as many of you know, I think Yashahime is a illusion and nothing is "real". The battles are manufactured to copies of conflicts the OG crowd already faced. I think the story with Rin is the same but in "reality" it was Sesshomaru who sacrificed his sleep for Rin. And call me crazy but I think the entire point of the merch where the characters are sleeping was to make this connection. Sesshomaru and Setsuna are the only ones awake. I think they did similar things with other merch but that's for a different post.

Another crazy theory I recently posted was that Kagome was "playing" the role of Treekyo. I read a theory from a Sessrin fan that maybe Kagome used her spiritual powers to save Rin. And maybe they are right and Kagome had a big role in saving Rin in reality.
