^ this particular "world beat" screen from the first game is sooooo funny to me. Also the "cola" from the intro cutscene but to a much lesser extent. It's Very explicitly a casino that he's hanging out in, so the idea of him sitting at the casino bar ordering ice cream floats just Gets Me. And both "it's clearly implied to be alcohol, they just made it not for whatever reason" and "ok but what if he Was just sitting in a casino bar ordering ice cream floats (and still acting kinda drunk about it)" are really amusing. My full, unfiltered review of episode 1 of GnLoss:

To preface this, I did not watch it for any ill intent if anyone thinks I did. I watched it because I love horror and had been casually interested since the concept was announced two years ago. I went into this hoping for something to entertain me and was unfortunately disappointed, and this is all my own subjective opinion. If you genuinely liked it I'm happy for you

To start with some of the things I did like, I liked when the camera was higher quality and the effects of when R.anb.oo walked through the door into the green room, or especially when they were on the beach. I liked the look of it, especially with the lone door. I found the effect of the fabric wall when Charlie was pushing against it to give a bit of a spooky look (though this enjoyment ended quickly when the camera showed how the effect was made and it was immediately made into a joke. This wouldn't have been as much of a problem to me if the rest of the episode wasn't like this as well), and I laughed a couple of times when Charlie told a joke. I also liked the very final scene, again when Ra.nbo.o goes through the door and the camera is higher quality and then they get sedated, cool shot 👍

Other than that, the only word I can think of when I look back on it is boring. I felt that it lacked any substance or comedy or horror. And to be very clear, I am the number one defender for stories that use the first episode/season/act to establish the characters and setting more. Like I am completely okay with that because I'm someone who values the characters in a story more than the story itself, if I care about the characters I can live with a mediocre story, but I can't live with a great story if I can't stand/don't care for the characters. So I am completely fine with that, but the problem with gnlss is that it barely establishes any of that.

I'm watching this story and I don't care who these characters are or what happens to them or what they do. You can trade any of the characters out with any other one and it would still be the same for me. And it's especially a problem with Ra.nbo.o, our protagonist, because the audience is meant to care that he doesn't get hurt, like we physically have to care enough to make the right choices but he has absolutely no personality and you could change him for a brick wall and get the same character.

And one of the most glaring issues with it is obviously the quality. I've seen lots of people say that it was done on purpose, but if that's the case then it needs to be so bad that it's obviously on purpose. It's like if you draw a straight line without a ruler, it will almost always come out crooked and sloppy, but when someone sees that they will automatically think you tried to make a straight line and failed. Which is why if you're doing it on purpose, you make the line squiggly because then people will glance at it and know that it was on purpose. It's the same thing with the acting, Charlie did his best but he did not have any help when trying to work with Sn.ee.g or Ra.nbo.o and their very flat performances, R being especially guilty of not using the very first and basic rule of improv: to say "yes, and". And it's especially disappointing because I was never expecting professional acting from twitch streamers at all, but I know that R can do better because while it wasn't amazing their lore streams were leagues above their acting in this. And again, over and over again I see "it's bad on purpose" but that can only be used as an excuse so many times.

If everything is mediocre and the only excuse is "it's on purpose" then all you did is make something mediocre. I've also seen some people say that what they did was impressive given their resources they had, but this show was funded by an entire company, created by a millionaire, and has been in the works for two years. This isn't a small indie project created by one person, it has a budget and it used it all on a mask that you can't even hear him out of. The constant change in camera quality when switching between live stuff and pre recorded stuff was extremely jarring, and only made it more glaringly obvious how poorly shot the live sections were, I really wish they stayed with the higher quality or at the very least kept it consistent.

And to top it off, it's just not what it had been promo'd as. The promos set expectations that were so far from what we got that I can't believe these are meant to be the same projects. If I watched it with no knowledge that it was meant to be a horror project then I would have no idea, the fact that I could not tell you the actual genre of it within the first (and from what Ra.nbo.o is describing the next episode is gonna be, the second as well) is a problem. If they didn't want the first episode to be focused on horror, that's fine, but there still needs to be something there. Like, the very first scene could have been a scary compilation of vague clips showing what happened to him and how he got in the house, and if executed well could then blend fine into the goofy story. It's also just. Painfully unfunny. You can tell they're trying to tell jokes and to make it funny, so it hurts more when you don't even crack a smile until an hour in.

I was hoping the second episode would go more into the lore or horror, but Ra.nbo.o has said that this next one is meant to be sillier which is incredibly disappointing and will most likely cause a huge tone problem for the third episode if 2/3s of your horror series is unfunny comedy.

Thank you so much! I wish it was easier to convert more of my stuff to be 3D printable, but my usual modeling style is not watertight in the slightest and disregards gravity entirely. 😆 3D modeling has always been really cool to me because there's so many different workflows depending on what you're trying to make. Keeps things from getting stale!

Speaking of differences, I feel like people don't tend to mention my coloring. :0 I think my line art usually steals the show, heh. I used to be a lot more conscious about color theory and shading when I was younger, but these days there's no thoughts, only vibes 😂

Ok the line, "even if it doesn't get better i hope you find happiness within it" hit me unexpectedly hard (in a good way). Any nice messages I get always means a ton to me, but while I don't seem to be able to articulate why at the moment, I think that line will stick with me for much longer than usual. Speaking more generally (this message just gave me a good excuse to talk, heh)- spoilers; the artist in my brain refuses to die. So after, like, a literal year of not touching it, I've started working again on a 3D modeling project that I started in 2021 that has been haunting me ever since. Been trying to redesign a robot OC of mine Rayner, and I'm really particular about wanting his joints to work in a physical space instead of bending the rules artistically. I'm Really bad at designing complex hard surface objects in flat 2D though. However, there's a reason artists tell you not to character design in 3D, and that's because it's slow, it's easy to lose design cohesion, and most importantly it just sucks, awful workflow. But I am Doing it. And while I was super stuck for years and almost developed a friggin phobia of the project, I am now Doing It. And it's actually working out this time. The 3D model itself is MILES from being done, but the design almost is, and while that's a boring end result for other people, it represents a huge milestone and accomplishment for me in many ways.

I've been drawing a little bit lately too! But I feel my social media hiatus has given me a healthier relationship with posting? Like I have a few doodles that I could either post now or post soon, but I don't feel the same pressure to anymore? Where even if I never post them, I think I'm fine with that. I've always thought I made art for myself, but that's not exactly true because I was also making art for the sake of sharing. And while I don't think there's anything wrong with that, I think being able to separate the two and be content with simply just creating is healthy. Also I'm still not as active on social media in general anymore which is probably healthier as well LOL.

So I'll prrrobably start posting again soon-ish now that I've broken this blog's posting silence? Not sure how to wrap this monologue up. My physical health problems are going to keep on probleming, but in terms of artistic fulfillment I've been in a much better place this past month, and that's a huge yeehaw from me 👍

hello anon, thank you for asking! i will preface all of this by saying i don't mind if anyone takes inspo from my art etc. but i will probably be a little neurotic if i notice it in the wild and there's itches in my head about it. i'm trying not to let personal feelings get in the way of my principle of it here 🏇

i don't really know how to make a tutorial. i tried to draw something that could get concepts across, but it was really hard and i didn't like any of it so instead i'll just put the general process and "rules" i have in mind when i draw. 🙏 sorry if this is less helpful than if i'd use a drawing

the drawing process changes by how much i plan and whatever i feel like, but my general rule of all of this is to keep it as enjoyable for me as much as possible 😊 i start with a sketch.

if i want to shade everything in one layer ("render" even...) i go straight to color after this. this only works if i don't mind it being messy and choppy. i never mind choppy shading i find it charming personally but it will be harder to adjust perspective/proportion/composition mistakes here. i usually color under the sketch layer then i merge it all(with a backup ver out of habit) and just color over the lines and refine things. this way is not very time consuming because i don't care about messiness 🤷‍♂️

or, if i want to use lineart. i just clean up the sketch usually because my attempts to redo the energy in a sketch suck balls 🤷‍♂️ if the sketch sucks too i just try to redo it entirely. idk. sketch=lineart etc. my general rule for this is too keep things shaped and simple. i don't think my silhouettes are very good at all but i want to work on it lol. i don't like having to do details so i like avoiding them. sometimes a messy lineart can be more charming to me than a clean proportionate lineart? keep shapes in mind that you find cute ⛹️‍♂️ details add texture so you have to be careful with how you want that to go. uhhh my mind when doing lineart is too jumbled up i mostly go by intuition based on what i like in other people's art but that applies to any part of drawing

for lineart-related coloring umm ive changed shading styles a couple times here lol. but they can all usually be categorized into two. i'll simplify it with hard to soft shading 🙂 hard is like, "cel shading" i guess? it's solid. it's easier to do but also harder if the colors are too complicated. i usually do this in one layer with the lineart because i use procreate and i'm too lazy to do the selection shit 💢 i like colors a lot in art and i've mentioned how i do them before i think? i always fuck with it with tone curves and gradient maps and posterize if it'd work. just fuck around with anything and you'll start to learn about colors from there 👍 i avoid multiply and add/luminosity layer settings to shade. just because i think it looks bad on my art. and it's annoying to work with too. the hard soft shading thing is a spectrum kind of cause it's really just how many colors are used in one "object"? like skin can vary from one color base and one color shading or a gajillion colors to create texture with blush etc. but there's inbetweens where it's various colors but "hard" but also soft and hard.

soft shading is just straight airbrush. actually not really usually for me it's just me lowering the opacity of my pen as i draw and fucking around with the colors like improvisation. feels like painting but in a too stupid for traditional art way 🤤. but i've also used the airbrush a lot lately. i don't try to use airbrush in "objects" and art that need more texture, like trying to shape with airbrush is fucking hard. but i've done drawings entirely with airbrush tool before just to size it down so it's basically a blurry pen the lol. but for the other way i use the airbrush (where i block out objects and make a flat-ish gradient on it) that one is just exactly what it looks like i just make shapes under the lineart and then clipping-mask a color over it. and always always mess with the tone curve after 🤤 or maybe you can learn color theory for real #up to you

that's all that's really important i think? if you want to ask more you can. sorry if this was less helpful than you'd want i just don't rly know how to give an art tutorial i don't rly have like. a set idea for my artstyle. is not solid

BLs That Took You by Surprise this year:

1) DNA Says Love You: Produced by Taiwan this one turned out quite different from what I expected based on the trailer and I mean that in a good way. It was a Beautiful story, well crafted and terrifically acted.

2) Color Rush 2: Korea picked up a new habit this year and started giving us sequels. Now, I know everyone was disappointed not to have the original couple back, but the way they continued the story was what I loved the most. They built on the first and got into more of the backgrounds and societies response to those who are different. A third installment is planned and I hope it gets made if only because I want to know what happens. 😁

3) On Cloud Nine: A Thai BL that almost no one watched I think. Another one that was not what you expected based on the trailer. I enjoyed it for it's unique storytelling, beautiful cinematography, and the twist you may or may not deduce along the way.

4) Blueming: Though produced by South Korea it was unlike the bulk of their BLs. There was more depth to the story, the actors were lovely, and it was shot Beautifully.

BLs that You Were Disappointed With:

I guess I'm lowbrow because I don't get disappointed a lot. I take it for what it is. That being said, there were a couple.

1) Check Out: I watched the entire series and it didn't help. They managed to take the great chemistry and UST of Ep 00 and turn it into a self indulgent whine-fest. It could have been so much better if they hadn't tried so hard shooting for depth and coming up far short imo.

2) Cupid's Last Wish: It pains me to put this one here because I Love EarthMix together. I also watched this entire series and at least they did get together in the end. They made Mix's character So Unlikeable...the Entire Time. And then the whole body swap business. It just didn't work well, all of it. A disappointing follow-up to 1000 Stars. I honestly hope their next series is better.

Favorite BLs of the Year:

1) Not Me: A Stellar series all around! I Love OffGun and I was so excited to see them in something so very different from their usual sort of roles. The fact that the series was truly risky for the amount of social commentary and impact it had only added to the enjoyment. The actors ALL Killed these roles and I was just left in awe watching them week after week. Seeing the awards piling up for this series here at the end of the year is also So Gratifying because They Deserve It!!

2) Kinneporsche: I didn't Just like it for the high heat. I truly enjoyed seeing a Different kind of story being done by Thailand. The relationships and the story were solid and enjoyable with plenty of twists and turns to keep us engaged. The acting was Marvelous, the Chemistry Insane, and I look forward to season 2...if it ever gets produced.

3) Semantic Error: Another South Korea BL that seemed to break the standard mold. Gorgeous Chemistry between the leads and an Unlikely love story made it a winner for me.

Favorite BL Couples:

I have Years of Favs but I'll stick to This year. LOL

1) OffGun is Always gonna be on this list. They just keep getting better and better.

2) OhmFluke have Had Me since UWMA and I am So Happy we're getting More of them this year.

3) EarthMix I Love their chemistry in general and I Know they have the acting chops to pull off great work. Just hoping for some better stories for them

4) BossNouel A Totally new pair this year, they Ate their roles Up with Tantalizing chemistry. I hope we see More from them.

5) MileApo and BibleBuild They crafted relationships that made an impact with Superb acting and Unreal chemistry. Give them More to do because they are up to it.

6) Kim Ji Woong & Yoon Seo Bin They have been Marvelous together this year. So Enjoyable! Korea gave us two very different series with them and we can only hope they'll give us more.

7) BounPrem got my attention in UWMA and I am Thrilled to finally be seeing them in their own series to follow-up on UWMA. I have loved seeing them all over this year, in Brilliant cameos and short series alike.

Non BL Favorites This Year

Some of these are gonna be Bromance we Wish Were BL but I enjoyed them all the same. Also, some may have been produced in 2021 but I just got to watch them this year.

1) Devil Judge: Just Wow! A Dystopian drama from Korea with an Insane story and Brilliant acting, it kept me on the edge of my seat until the end.

2) Remember You: A Thai drama with Tay Tawan, Petch, and Aun. Another one that kept me on the edge of my seat. An intense murder mystery series with family drama and the unexpected thrown in.

3) Kei & Yaku: Abunei Aibou: Japan gave us a Great show with this one. A cop and a Yakuza boss have to join forces and Wow! This is one I Wish they would give us a sequel for just to have More of them together

4) Under the Skin: A Chinese drama that very much gave me Sherlock vibes. A cop and a Forensic artist are forced to work together despite a rocky history but the unique skill of the artist makes all the difference to their cases. Loved it!

My best friend wasn't able to get the document she came here for because the university secretary told her she should have made an official request for it 5 days in advance. And this rule was just enforced 3 days prior to her arrival here... The delicious irony of it all (I feel bad for her but this means she'll have to come again, probably in January - that's when they're planning to move abroad, apparently) 🤭 she also said she and her bf might come spend NYE here with us (hopefully all of our friends will be able to join this year 🙏) which is something to look forward to. My bf also found a job that sounds decent enough at the mall, and he has yet to receive an official answer (I think) but he also has to renew his ID which is a nuisance because he'll have to go to his hometown in the meantime. Idk I've been worrying about this because I don't want him to start his job and then immediately have to leave the city. 🙄

My parents are coming here again next week so that's something for ME to prepare for. Mostly I just have to clean up and do more loads of laundry I've been putting off. It hasn't happened today either, so I'll probably have to cram everything in just one or two days, not nearly enough time for the laundry to fully dry 😃👍 I was thinking today that I've been having so many reunions and outings lately that I've just been craving more alone time. And today my bf didn't come over so I was able to smoke a tiny blunt and cook some Brussels sprouts, have a root beer and a piece of grilljas cake. Idk if I wrote that right. It's my newest obsession and I'm gonna have to spend a lot of time looking for it in stores (I got it from the city center fair and idk how long they're there for).

Today was actually my first time ever eating Brussels sprouts and drinking root beer. The sprouts were tasty, I cooked them in garlic butter, added some sun dried tomatoes towards the end, and sprinkled cheese on top. I didn't have anything else so I just ate them for dinner. The root beer, however, was pretty disappointing. It literally tastes like Tiger balm in liquid form. I was expecting some earthy, refreshing deliciousness. It wasn't undrinkable, but I'll most likely never purchase it again. I was curious about it for the longest time because I could never find it here.

It's actually Thursday now, and all of the above was written on Tuesday. I might just make another post at this point, but I just wanted to say that I STILL haven't done any laundry since then. Btw. Just an update.

Your local 9 year old is genuinely a better option for getting images.

Benefits:

- Won't take a lot of energy from planet

- Unique style

- Will make it prettier

- Can probably draw what you want

- Smart enough to not need you to correct a billion times before giving up

- Easy to pay (or not)

- Easy to convince to get free art from

Source: I know at least one 9 year old.

That being said, I've of coursed used AI to make art for me (when I wasn't busy giving up or getting frustrated), because it's free and won't require me to socialize with people, but not only did I learn about the fact that AI art takes up a lot of energy, but also, here are some downsides:

- Most AI art generators are made from other's art but without their consent

- It probably looks ugly AF

- It's probably not in the style that you wanted 😐

- It's probably not even that accurate to what you wanted but your standards got lowered enough 👍

- It probably looks fake AF

- It looks off

- There's probably some mistakes that you've prayed to God that people won't realize

- It's probably just off enough for it to be frustrating

- You had to go through talking to some AI that clearly wasn't meant to be a chatbot

- The entire process of getting something that is just about accurate enough

- You can't feature it in art things, it's basically just "yeah, kinda like this" type of stuff

- Picrews exist and are more fun, 100% free, and you won't get as much frustration + the artwork was made by a human artist for you to do stuff with + most have reasonable rules

- You get existential

- It really feels like you're talking to a robot

- The AI will probably forget previous requests

So, since AI art = bad no matter what ...

Draw my OCs 😐 (in reality, art takes a lot of energy, and typically has love and a thought-process - it's an action done by another human being to you, and to be what you want it to be, and it can cost things financially, and most artists are underappreciated and/or underpayed, so a fair payment is fair, plus, some don't even ask for much, or you can just convince a 9 year old to draw a dog for you or whatever - that being said, I should still get free art 😎).

I have many OCs that one could draw, some would even be fun to draw again (and by that I mean "fun for me to see drawn again"), but the ones I got AI images of to show what they looked like, before I realized how crap that AI art is, are probably a great start.

I know I have a local 13 year old who is willing to draw for free for some reason (I don't know, I also ask him wtf), but like, he's rarely online, and 13 year olds can be talented and not act like typical teens, so if I HAVE to socialize with someone new, a 13 year old would probably be best - also because I can't seem to fecking talk to most people, properly, and I SERIOUSLY don't wanna talk to people, but if someone reaches out to me and gives free art, I ain't gonna say "no".

In return for free art, I can give:

- Nothing. Dude, I'm asking for free art, the rational response would be to just ignore my account.

- The permission to platonically simp for me (I mean you already have that, but it's hard not to want it when getting to know me, LOL).

- I don't know, a virtual sandwich or something.

Absolutely there are English people who think that to be English is to be vastly superior. 🙄

Sadly, the current crop of English haters from across the globe, and self loathers from within, seem to assume that this also includes absolutely anyone who is English and actually loves our country.

My experience is that nothing could be further from the truth.

One only has to look at classic British sit coms, comedy movies and radio comedy from the 1930s to the 1990s (those set in England, that is), to see what our general attitude to ourselves was.

I'd describe it as deep affection tempered with a healthy dose of self deprication.

We chuckled warmly with the eccentrics, and the lovable numbskulls.

We loved jokes about our English peculiarities and foibles.

We found ourselves incredibly ridiculous and that fact delighted us.

Our scorn and derision were reserved for arrogance, self aggrandisement, cruelty, snobbishness and bigotry of all kinds.

Look at the difference between comedy characters that we laughed along with, compared with those that we laughed at.

We loved our Englishness, but when it came to anyone assuming that this conferred any kind of superiority on our nation.

Well, our instinct was to pull them right down to size.

From the 1950s, when Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne.

The time of British Empire was done, and The Commonwealth was coming into being.

Nations that now quite rightly ruled themselves again, chose to retain the British Monarch as Head of State.

These nations were like our cousins. The Queen, our National Mother, had become their affectionate Aunt.

And I'm happy to have been born during that time.

Because whilst I'm sure The British Empire brought some benefit to the world. Otherwise, why on earth would so many nations have chosen to remain with The Commonwealth for so long? And even more so the new cousins that have joined our family in recent years.

I've never felt comfortable with the notion of one tiny portion of a set of small islands lying off the coast of Europe, having felt entitled to impose her rule on so many other countries for so long.

I've no qualms about saying that I love being British in general and English in particular.

But I've not the smallest wish for us to have the charge of any land but that which we live on.

Favorite Color: All those mermaid colors. Though truly a bitch just craves the combo of black and violently neon rainbow.

Sweet, Savory, or Spicy: SPICY. Spicy Chocolate Icecream is one of my favorite things on Earth.

Craving: Pierogi. Made the mistake of stopping by the Polish place after running an errand for my mom and now my soul wants only potato cheese pillows in onion and butter.

Currently Reading: I listen to most of my books these days, so I can paint while consuming them. Nearly everything is nonfiction. I like books about women escaping oppressive religious cults and ancient history. I am reading the Sailor V manga, though.

RULES FOR REQUESTING & TAGGING INFO

RULES/REQUESTS:

- I do not write any smut, NSFW or lemon content. Don't request any of this content because your ask will be deleted and I will be uncomfy. I am 19, so suggestive doesn't bother me, I might even from time to time write something slightly suggestive if the story calls for it. BUT, it will never cross the line to being smut, even if I am 19 I just don't like it🤷‍♀️

- I typically write for a female reader, though if I don't use any pronouns/fem descriptions then I will tag it as gender neutral. I am careful in my tagging and make sure to tag it as either female reader or gn reader appropriately. That being said if you would like your request to be written with a gn reader please let me know! Otherwise I will default to female reader.

-I really do try to be as non descriptive about the appearance of the reader as I can- I avoid mentioning anything referring to skin tone, height (I myself am tall so I avoid using phrases like "he towered over you" etc. That being said I also don't write an exclusively tall reader- I just don't mention it), weight, and unless it's necessary I avoid mentioning what readers hair/clothing looks like.

- I will gladly write angst or fluff (or a combination of the two) I don't like writing death- In rare cases I will, but I generally prefer not to.

- I am currently accepting requests!

- This is my blog, so I absolutely have veto rights if a request makes me uncomfortable, don't fight me on it, I have my reasons!

- I am not exclusive in the characters I write for (you can request anyone as long as it is male x female) but in headcanons/oneshots I write by my own choice it will most always be an underrated or lesser known character. I have a writing preference towards underrated characters!!

- As previously stated I'm 19, so I personally don't feel 100% comfortable writing for characters ridiculously younger than me (ex. Think Tokyo revengers) that's just how I feel personally. So especially for haikyuu expect me to mostly write for their timeskip, or for Tokyo revengers, expect more content for older characters. Obviously nothing suggestive will be ever written for minors.

Honestly I'm open to writing in several different formats; i'm not really picky. But I listed what I usually write/have written to give you some ideas!

-Headcanons: For me, headcanons are specific ramblings about a specific character, if you're looking for deep insight into a single character, this is the type of request for you! If you want multiple characters my scenario format is probably what you're looking for. ex. headcanon

Hiya everyone! 🥺 Happy February sgshvshs!! I hope you're all safe and happy this month, please take care of yourselves everyone 💞

But anywho, since it's February that means Valentine's Day is soon bajshs 😯💘 and as I've mentioned before, I've been wanting to do another event on the blog for Valentine's Day 💕🥳!

It's finally time for that aaa 🥳😭!!

From Feburary 8th to February 28th will be my Valentine's Day Letter and Date event 🥳💌!! During this event, you can send in a request with the name of an Operator, and I'll write a Valentine's Day Letter from them along with creating a little date just for two 💘

It'll be very similar to the my Christmas Letter and Gift event, but this time everything will of course be Valentine's themed lolol 👍

Here are the rules and guidelines for this event:

･ Send me a name of an Operator and you'll receive a Valentine's letter from and date with that Operator 💕

･ One Operator per Valentine's Day Letter and Date event request please!

･ The date included with the letter will not be a full scenario with the Operator; I will end the writing piece with an open ending where you join the Operator on the date so you're left with your own imagination for the rest svshsbs 👍

･ I will not be creating Valentine's Day letters for villains, Reunion members (W of course does not count as Reunion!) or any other npc outside of Rhodes Islands' beloved Operators! Please only send in a Valentine's Day Letter and Date event ask for an Operator 💌!

･ Please don't request any specifications for the date with the Operator!! If you do I will discard your request; I'd like to have full creative control over that aspect of the piece since that part will be the most fun for me sbsjshs 🥺💞

･ By default, I'll write the letters assuming the Operator requested is in an established relationship with the reader 🥰 if you'd like the letter to maybe be a love confession or something else just say so in your ask!
