Okay so I love Davrin's hair and it reminds me of me and my Dad's hair.
Our hair is very curly and prone to shrinkage (I have given up on finding a product that will stop the shrinkage. I'm rocking my short, curly 4B hair with pride now).
So I was pretty surprised to see Davrin's hair has the same texture and style as my Dad and it makes me pretty happy.
I remember a time when I made video game characters I couldn't even make a character Black or look anything close to me. I'm so happy to see video games put in more options for hair and skin tone 🥰

"Tattoos are just as customizable alongside options for scars and paint. Tattoos, scars, and paint are very culturally relevant to some lineages, BioWare tells me, with unique tattoos for elves, for example. You can add tattoos to Rook's face, body, arms, and legs, and you can adjust things like intensity, too." [source]
lookin again at the various concept art and art pieces from DA over time that show vallaslin on places other than the face, like these ones - 👁️

I'm so over the moon right now I'mma just be obnoxious if you follow me anywhere else, sorry. I have friends at sdcc, and they got the Dragon Age Official Cookbook signed by the devs for me, and asked John Epler a question I have: What is Bellara's favorite food?
John Epler said that Bellara's favorite food is fried fish.
Thank you, good bye. Time to go draft recipes.

People rightfully talk about how devastating romantic solavellan is, but I think platonic solavellan can also be extremely devastating.
Like, my main Inquisitor was a Dalish rogue. She had no experience of magic, or the Fade, or anything like that before accidentally stumbling into the whole Corypheus ritual thing. Solas saved her life. He was by her side when she was confused and scared and trying to figure out what the hell had happened to her while all these humans were accusing her of a terrible crime she didn't commit. He helped her learn how to use the mark to seal the rifts; helped her understand what her new abilities were and that they were needed. When the humans began to call her the herald of a divine figure she didn't worship, Solas was the one person she could turn to when it all started to get a bit much (my Inquisitor was very much a Life of Brian-esque "I'm not the Herald of Andraste!" type). The conversation they have in the snow after everyone gathers together to sing "The Dawn Will Come" is such an important moment. Two elves, in the midst of a struggle fundamentally elven but that human beliefs had managed to co-opt.
Solas was her mentor. Her friend. Someone who opened her eyes to the vastness of the world; who complicated things she thought she understood. And she listened to him with an open mind and heart in turn. She was living proof that his unpleasant encounters with the Dalish were not universal. She had accepted her mortality, her lack of magic, because she knew no other way to be, and it probably broke his heart that he knew that HE was the one who had taken it from her. idk I'm just obsessed with all the dialogue that implies that the Inquisitor, through befriending Solas, changed a lot of his opinions about the modern world (modern elves especially), but that it wasn't enough to make him accept the world as it was in the end
idk man. platonic solavellan. really looking forward to seeing how it all plays out in veilguard.

So I've been thinking about Veilguard and the 'fade prison' that's been mentioned and how fun/interesting it might be if Rook was like Anders except instead of Justice being your ride-or-die it was Solas?

I'm thinking about doing a full replay of the Dragon Age series. I think I've been too bogged down by other people's opinions and feelings and kinda want to get myself back to square one (and form my own opinions) and just... not really compare how I feel to anything else except maybe my own feelings when I was in the height of my interest with Dragon Age.
Gonna make an entirely new set of Player Characters for it to. (Although I never finished Inquisition with my old 'personal canon' Playthrough of that game, so I might finish that out as well as an entirely new run with an entirely new worldstate.)
I remember I made a lot of DA OCs back in the day because I wanted to make a world state for romancing every character in Inquisition, but these days I don't think I have the interest or energy to pick up that pursuit again. So I'm gonna just focus on the entirely new run of the games and then my old 'main/personal canon' run as a point of comparison.

Keeping it a secret for so long has been torturous, but now that the game reveals are happening I can finally say that for the past few years I’ve been part of the player council for the upcoming DRAGON AGE: THE VEILGUARD!
(The only photo proof I'm able to show is of me appreciating the Arishok's huge...tracts of land at Bioware Edmonton)
At this time all I can tell you is that my role was to provide feedback to the development team to help improve the game, something which has been very special to be able to do. Now that things are in motion, I’m excited to see what gets revealed with each official announcement…

EA is a triple A gaming company worth billions. But BioWare? It's a subsidiary that is smaller than you think. (EA has about 13k employees, but BW has about 500).
Not pre-ordering or buying on the day of release isn't going to send a message to EA to improve its practices. It's only going to hurt BioWare and their remaining employees. (This isn't aimed at people who can't afford it, or don't like the game(s), or don't like what they've seen so far, or are very skeptical and want to hold off. I'm talking to people who are excited about the game and have the $60 to spare.)
Yes, there are things to criticize about BioWare and EA, I get it, I really do. What happened to Mary Kirby and those like her is awful. Fuck them for that, truly. The merchandise packages that don't include the game, kinda scummy. But if you don't take that as a sign that EA is pushing down, hard, on BioWare, then I don't know what to tell you. Do you think BioWare is somehow immune from EA's scrutiny? BioWare has two big misses in their recent history, after MEA and Anthem, they are on thin ice.
Will the game be buggy on release? Maybe. They do have a history of it. Hell, DAO is still buggy af, but we love it anyway. Will the game be bad? Possibly. There are story elements in each game that still piss me off to this day. It is a gamble, but if you like what you see and are excited, there is no reason not to support the franchise you love. Do you want more Dragon Age games? Do you want more Mass Effect games? If yes, then the best way to get more games is to buy this game.
The only thing that will happen if DATV sales suck, will be for EA to believe that Dragon Age games no longer sell and to nix or hold off on all future projects for it. By waiting for it to be on sale or pirating it, you could very well damn the future of BioWare and the DA franchise. You're not fucking up EA when you choose not to buy DATV, you are screwing BioWare, which is not the same as EA. BioWare can be dissolved, but EA won't. They won't care, EA will happily get rid of something that isn't making them money. EA is not gonna be hurt by DATV doing poorly in sales, they have their sports franchises that will always make them money. It will only hurt BioWare and the remaining developers. Do you like Weekes? Epler? Busche? Support them!
So if you are excited about Dragon Age: The Veilguard and want to see more Dragon Age games, don't let anyone convince you not to buy it, or pre-order it. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for doing so. If you have the money and like what you see, I encourage you to buy it and show support for your favorite franchise.
(Those worried about the SAG-AFTRA strike, don't be, DATV isn't included in the strike. More here.)

Can we collectively agree that games mean different things to different people?
Some people play games for the story, some for the mechanics, some for romance if it has any. RPGs we have been getting lately have been giving us a decent mix of the first two, but romance is a scarce theme and I'm tired of seeing people shit talk others who are intrigued by it as a major factor of their enjoyment.
You gotta understand that there are people who love the companions in games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and BG3, and that not a lot of games provide a healthy combination of good storytelling and romantic connections that feel natural and organic, so of course they're gonna love that. Hell, even just the friendships are a big part of these games where, you know, your companions and your relationship with them are two very important factors (Look at ME2 for that).
Just look at Starfield. They included a system where you could flirt but the flirt options felt so out of place, like someone would be talking about their sad sob story and you can interrupt to give them an out-of-place sultry compliment. It felt so inorganic and systematic, and that's a hard trap not to fall into.
Like I personally love games for their story, enjoy the different mechanics they offer, and love that a romantic connection could build with a character throughout the game after what you go through together. It's even better if it feels like a natural development.
So if there are people excited for a game's romance potential, especially Veilguard, let them have their fun, man. Don't want to see it? Block and don't follow, simple as that.
