Still not off of my Diasomnia kick, so I’m gonna point out something I noticed in Chapter 7 part 4 that I didn’t realize surprised me until I read it over again. 

So, when Silver is explaining his issues to MC, he mentions that not only did Lilia take him to multiple doctors/healing mages, but that if Silver’s sleeping issue was cured, Lilia’s worries would disappear. 

The Lilia we know in the present is characteristically easygoing and unbothered by most things. 

Given what we knew, I almost expected Lilia to accept Silver’s issues for what they were and at least keep up appearances that they weren’t a big deal and Silver can function just fine.

But it’s very clear now that Lilia is worried about Silver. 

He plays the role of being lax and chill very well, not making a big deal about it, but he’s clearly concerned deep down. When he took him to those doctors, he was searching for a cure. Silver has probably caught him fretting or whispering his worries to Malleus when he thinks Silver isn’t listening. 

Silver’s wellbeing is what brought bits and pieces of the real Lilia out of his dream self. The moment Silver is in danger, his body willed itself to protect him. 

This confirmation of a strong familial bond + the added detail that this child’s health and safety is extremely important to Lilia unravels a lot of interesting future developments and angst galore. 

Because I can’t help but wonder, how did Lilia trust Malleus to be around Silver? When Silver is so clearly a more fragile human and Malleus is a powerful fae with the tendency to accidentally destroy things out of anger. How could that trust then be broken in chapter 7?

How much of Silver becoming a guard is meant to protect him rather than Malleus, with Malleus clearly leagues more powerful than Silver and Silver suffering from a condition that makes him vulnerable and possibly causes him to get himself hurt. 

It’s still not clear if Lilia is in the dark about Silver’s condition or he’s desperately searching for a way to help him because he knows what’s wrong, but that amount of care and concern that’s hidden underneath his quirky persona makes me so hungry to see more of their interactions.

i'll forever wish that hsmtmts was one of those shows that got 22 episodes a season so every character and plotline could've been given the proper treatment they deserved. like yeah it's a lot for the premise it had, but more episodes would've meant delving more into their backgrounds or giving more development into friendships and relationships of the show. i'm also still kind of mad that the season that was arguably their weakest ended up with the most episodes, while their stronger seasons had a limited number of episodes.

the "phil would be killed first in a home invasion" comment made me soooooo uncomfortable at the time especially because, as you said, phil didn't fight back AT ALL. so yeah, i agree with you when it comes to content where dan looks like he still in his edgelord phase and phil doesn't say a single thing back

that whole part of the stereo show where he was like "my favorite part of living with you is not so much YOU being there, but that someone else would be in the house if there was a break in" was so painfully 2013, and i mean that literally because he said that exact same thing when he was home alone while phil was with his family and dan said on a live "i don't miss phil, i miss someone else being home in case there's a break in" like okay girl 🙄 phil is just your home alarm system that you've been living with for half your life okay whatever you say 🙄

it feels particularly strange as a joke because we know one of phil's biggest fears is home invasion. i think that's why he doesn't even try to joke back about it. i'm not saying dan doesn't have a fear of it either (i'm sure he does, and i'm sure he gets scared being alone too) but phrasing it in that way was icky

This is the anon who just watched bottle rocket. I found a 25min behind the scenes for it on youtube, and that was. One of the funniest things I have ever watched. There was precisely one (1) woman on there who remembered they were supposed to be promoting the film and fully everyone else is sitting about going 'I dunno man, it just sort of happened ¯\_(ツ)_/¯' The biggest actor they got goes 'I popped over for three days, how am I supposed to remember anything?' Someone says 'we were in talks about making the movie but they'd never even read the script aloud even though they were all living together ...' and another goes 'I'd come in to give them notes and could not for the life of me figure out what they thought about them ...' Then even the one woman who knows what she's on camera for goes 'they're brilliant boys, but they kept sort of just ... wandering off???' and yet another says 'I struggled to find evidence that they ever did any work. I mean presumably they did because a script landed on my table and it was brilliant, but I coulda sworn they weren't doing a thing.'

[The actor playing Bob's older brother yeets in to say "don't buy Owen and Wes' 'aw shucks' act they know exactly what they're doing]

Cue Wes "aw shucks I knew what I wanted the sets to look like but what even is lighting 😆" and Own "aw shucks I'm pretty sure the studio just took us on because they saw us floundering around and figured somone's gotta bite the bullet and throw us a line 😆"

Then all together they go: "and in conclusion we had a bucket of laughs and loved the film but test audiences hated it soooo bad and Sundance wouldn't even take it lol" at which point they all suddenly recall they're supposed to be doing promo and not recounting 'my one weird year with Wes' and speedrun through "Oh right and then it got a great review from a major magazine and a cult following and it's a great film you should go watch it byeeeeee!"

And they're right. It IS a great film and everyone should go watch it. 10 out of 10 perfect crew, perfect bonus features.

Welcome to the perfect insight into Owen since seemingly not doing a thing and somehow ending up with magic is kind of the reputation he's gained, which in a way is as charming as he is but definitely glosses over the fact that like Wes, he's always known what story he wants to tell and how to get there even if the path doesn't line up with one anyone else is following or, y'know, seems comprehensible in any way lol

Honestly couldn't pick a favorite anecdote if I tried, everything you listed is right up there as well as someone commenting their surprise at none of them carrying notebooks then everyone walking in with one the next day even though you just know not a single note about the movie ever made it in there, said biggest actor comparing the experience to being on Hollywood Squares for the day, and Owen trying to exchange his studio purchased first class ticket for coach to pocket the difference then finding out it would go back to their credit card and being like eh guess I'm flying first then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Btw just to add a fun easter egg element to your watching progress, the actor who plays Bob's older brother is actually Owen and Luke's older brother Andrew (which likely goes a long way towards him being like yeah no don't fall for Wes and Owen's bs 🤣) and Owen loves having him on set so if you keep an eye out you may see (and sometimes hear!) quite a few cameos of his 😉

my s/i for h.aar is a fellow wyvern rider and soldier, has a pet wyvern named olive that she loves dearly. for many many years, ash has been tying red ribbons into bows on olive's horns so that, even when they're in battle, olive can look super cute!

however, as ash and h.aar grow closer, so do their wyverns! eventually h.aar's wyvern (who I call damien) starts nudging and softly growling at ash because he wants ribbons too!!! he wants to match with olive!!!

when i was younger and hung out around my uncle a lot more than i do now, i remember whenever he referred to things regarding his native heritage, he always just called it "indian". called himself an indian, called the words he taught us indian, so on. since i was a little kid who didn't know any better, i didn't know that "indian" in the context of indigenous americans was a very broad, frankly bastardized term to paint a vast variety of cultures spanning two whole damn continents with one brush. it only occurred to me as i got much older than i was at the time that there'd be more than one "indian" language, and up until now since i had no idea what tribe(s) he even is i couldn't even begin to know where to look unless i found a download of every goddamn interlingual dictionary available and painstakingly checked every godddamn one for what their word for "thunder" is

the word he taught us meant thunder was hiloha. i didn't even know how to spell it until now, because he only ever said it aloud. literally just a few minutes ago, i decided to ask my grandma (his sister) if we knew what tribe(s) he belonged to. and apparently he's a mix of choctaw and makah. which gave me a lead, which led to me finding a dictionary on libgen, which led to me word searching "thunder" in the choctaw to english dictionary. it's the only word i remember him teaching us, and i'm unsure if he ever tried teaching us others. but it was his dogs name, and he was a damn good boy, so i remembered it clear as day. though, they normally shortened it to "hilo".

so, i guess what came out of this is that i now know a bit more about my uncle's heritage, and where to look for more research. so, if you're gonna have a takeaway from this, i'd appreciate it if you remembered the word "hiloha". it means thunder. and aside from being the name of a very good boy who deserves to be remembered, i think it's even more important to remember the histories, cultures, and of course the languages of all the indigenous folks who came before us and did their damndest to preserve their cultures in spite of it all.

EVEN WORSE. Roland's age was never mentioned so I just assumed he started working when he was super young, similar to how Andrew got a job at Eden's when he was a minor, washing dishes. Apparently, you have to be 18(?) in SC to be a bartender, so I was living in bliss until this moment. For general ref, Andrew was 17 and Roland was 22-23 when they started hooking up. And knowing everything Andrew has gone through.... Disrespecting Andrew's no-touching boundaries was bad enough, I want that man dead!!! I once read a fix it fanfic where Neil beat the shit out of the monsters after he was drugged and woke up in the Columbia house just because that scene pissed the writer off so much and the monsters deserved worse, and I understand them! 

I think Neil should canonly eliminate Roland actually!

I saw your tags on that post about how reading prepares you to live and it always makes me insane because like, it's literally neurological, the mind experiences everything as stories and responds to stories in the same way that it does real life just with fewer consequences and what it means is that books allow you to experience things before they happen so your brain can run through the permutations of what you might do in that situation so when it actually happens you can survive it more easily, it's like a vaccine or something and you probably already knew that but if you didn't now you do because it makes me so excited it's not even like just a spiritual or metaphorical thing, we need stories to survive on a physical level

GRACIE I loooove this so much and I actually had never even thought of looking into this before!! I think it's such a sweet way to consider it to, like stories for us are building blocks that help our brains figure out how to react, how to believe and how to survive, that's just so meaningful and loving to me!!! And like not only are stories enriching things for us, things that bring color to our lives etc., but that they're also tools, literally useable things that we can miss when they're gone.....OCH that is so happymaking for me!
