That really is a lot, I appreciate it so much that you took the time to tell it all :) And I get what you mean, I've been where you are & I'm honestly still trying to make it out, so please know that you are not alone in your journey. Here's a hug! *hugs*

The constant exhaustion/fatigue & not feeling anything enjoyable about life... I feel you. Some days are just harder than others, and all we can really do is lie down and take some rest, which is perfectly okay :) Please don't ever get mad at yourself for needing and taking some time to relax, if you need it, then you need it. I do understand your frustration over being too tired to do anything anymore, but through that, you're acknowledging that you don't want to live the rest of your life like this. That is a great first step towards the happiness you deserve! I know you can get yourself out of the cycle of unmotivation. It may not feel like it, but you definitely can! You didn't get this far just to get this far, and I know you'll make it! Please keep going because you matter, and with all the strength you've shown as you battle all your battles, you are destined for greatness.

(And here's some advice that may help: Whenever you feel numb or unmotivated, you can watch super happy and heartwarming videos and/or listen to music that makes you feel happy! This next one's the step after acknowledging that you don't want to live the rest of your life unmotivated, which is to try to find something to do everyday that gets you to get your day started, whether that is to look at the pretty sunset that lets you know you got through another day, seeing people giggle and laugh over the small things, the opportunity to make someone else happy, anything really. What I do is whenever I need to get ready for something & I don't feel like it, I just tell myself that I promised that one dress and black boots that I'd wear them today 😅 Weird as it sounds, it helps. You could also say positively ominous things to yourself like "I will be happy. I cannot change it" or "I matter. It's non-negotiable." Again, it sounds weird, but it's a great way to remind yourself that you can do this :D

And lastly, try to remember the people you've helped & all the times you've done good things. You've personally helped me when I read the fic you wrote about Wyoming, so I know you've helped others as well without knowing it. Your existence truly makes an impact on people 😊)

Lastly, it's okay! You can put anything in your blog that you want to, I just wanted to make sure you were okay, and if not, maybe I could help you somehow :D I'm glad my comment made you feel better by the way. Please know that I know you got this! You made it this far already so you can keep going, and before you know it, you're in a place of happiness :) It's hard to believe it rn, but your future self will admire and thank you for persevering through! Honestly I kind of haven't really felt anything in a long time, but if I had to pin-point it to something I'd say I've been feeling pretty terrible if you get what I mean...like I can't find anything truly enjoyable in life anymore, even if I do have things that sometimes make me happy like wttt and all that, if you can understand what I mean. Also there's the constant fatigue all the time regardless of what I do and I just hate that I'm always tired. Like - there used to be so much that I wanted to do, but now I just don't feel like doing things since I can't bring myself to find the motivation for it and I hate myself for never doing anything and so on. Then that cycle just keeps repeating and I'm exhausted of life holding me down and I just don't want to keep on living while feeling either nothing at all or too much at once...and everything hurts all the time both physically and mentally so it kind of makes me wonder if anything is even worth all this pain.

I won't continue any further right now since it's not right of me to just emotionally dump on you out of the blue you were just checking in because of what I was reblogging. And as for that, it came on my dash with things I've liked before and recommendations; then it just resonated so I put it on my blog. But I didn't mean to trouble anyone with reblogging such stuff so I'm really sorry if I worried you or any such thing. Thanks for asking me though. do you have any thoughts on luna and harry as a potential couple post-canon? i was reading your post on harry/ginny and i really loved your perspective on it, especially when you said your vision for harry post war was basically just lots and lots of big dogs (i LOVE that mental image and i agree it would be SO good for him!!) but i was wondering if you'd consider luna and harry to be a good match for each other? personally i have a sort of soft spot for the pairing because of how fond harry is of her in canon, and i think if anyone was going to understand and be unfazed by all the difficult trauma responses and long healing process he's going to be dealing with for years after the war, luna seems like a good fit :)

My love for Harry as a character is kind of unusual to me, considering I go pearl-diving for ships when I read things, and I fall in love with dynamics as a conduit to falling in love with characters. That said, I don't really ship him with anybody. I just genuinely adore That Weird Little Dude. Same with Ron; I'm just as pleased to see them with a range of people, because (A) I believe they're good partners and can have great relationships with many people (Ron Weasley get behind me they could never make me hate you Ron Weasley), but also (B) I don't see either of their canon relationships as Definitive. Some characters I ship together because I sincerely believe they are (non-deterministic) soulmates, in that they bring out parts of each other that make them the freshest, happiest, most interesting versions of themselves. With other characters, I'll look at a couple and go: "Huh. Could work!" and smack my giant rubber [APPROVED] stamp on it, then get back to work on my blorbos.

Luna and Harry are one of those couples for me. As I mentioned in that other post, I think Harry's primary requirement in a partner is someone who can treat him normally, i.e. will be generally chill about the Became Wizard Jesus Twice situation. Which is a big ask. Luna is uniquely capable of doing that because Luna is not normal at all, and so treats all things, extraordinary and ordinary both, as uniformly dazzling and delightful. I believe this is why Harry enjoys her so much in their friendship, because he gets to feel valued and treasured without feeling unusual or othered — a hard line to toe, and one even Ron and Hermione occasionally trip up on. He seems to like hanging out with her a great deal, and I think it says something sweet that he asks her to the Slug Club party instead of any of the girls in Gryffindor from his year, whom he'd ostensibly know better.

Luna is a bit of a cipher to me, I admit. We know she's the daughter of an eccentric and probably traumatized single father, raised without a mother; deeply lonely, because of how she's been ostracized for her beliefs and hobbies, and the victim of some degree of bullying for it; and yet full of a passionate, almost effortless wonder and joie de vivre. She's also intensely loving (cf. painting her friends' faces on her bedroom ceiling) and very hard to embarrass. She likes Harry for understandable reasons; they share most of those qualities (Harry's more sensitive to others' opinions, understandably so), and the only point where they diverge is their actual hobbies and interests. Harry seems pretty fond of her nonsense, and I bet she could sell him on crumple-horned snorkacks given some time — maybe if Hermione took a vacation to Switzerland and left them alone together.

In general, what I find sweet about the idea of these two is they're so chill. These are two people whose chief ambition is to hang out, enjoy their hobbies, and see some cool magical shit. Date night is so fucking easy for these two. Plus, Harry is a hothead a lot of the time, and Luna just... vibes. Literally never bothered. Insane levels of not fussed at all times. Very helpful for Harry, who has a bad tendency to bottle up his feelings and then blow up at the first person to sneeze at him. Conversely, I'd hope that Harry would age into the kind of genial, confident dude who would be able to rock up with a function where people were talking shit about Luna and be like :) My wife? You mean my wise and beautiful wife? Surely you are not talking about my wise and beautiful wife. :) instead of doing what he'd do from age 15-17, which is get mad and stomp around sulking. Which, again: teenager. Orphan. Non-stop trauma gauntlet from age 2-18. Excuses are made. But still. Would think it best if Luna's husband were not perhaps so keenly sensitive to gossip, for Luna's sake.

Anyway, these are just some dissembled thoughts. There's also something in there about Harry, boy under the staircase, falling in love with the magical world and ending up the Most Magical person, i.e., the person who took believing in magic to such an extreme that she imagines magic that doesn't exist yet. And Luna ends up with the one person who's inarguably stranger than she is.

This is literally one of my favorite moments for both Harry Kim and B’Elanna characterization. I think a lot of people forget how soft hearted and altruistic B’Elanna specifically can be while Harry, of course a friendly and sweet individual, devotes himself most often to the mission, his friends and Starfleet’s ideals. Harry’s been shown to be much more down-to-earth and less fantastical in his thinking than either Tom or B’Elanna. The only time he gets in major trouble with Janeway and breaks protocol is because he wants to be with a woman. This is distinctly different to me than Tom’s (attempting to save an alien world) and B’Elanna’s (giving a robot race the ability to reproduce) transgressions. His other biggest infraction is begin a mutiny which he does in order to save Janeway & Chakotay. He doesn’t get in trouble for this which is why I put it last but again it seems different from Tom or B’Elanna to me because it’s For The Ship it’s For The Captain it’s a crime which displays his loyalty to Janeway instead of one which demonstrates him going against her ideologically (as shown by the lack of punishment). In that way I think B’Elanna and Harry balance each other well. B’Elanna is a person who seems very nervous and defensive when in conversation with others, who thinks of herself as a person who is ‘bad’ and doesn’t believe in herself much. Meanwhile Harry seems to be at ease with most anyone he speaks to, attempting to befriend even Seven of Nine right away. He’s confident in himself and his abilities and out of everyone (yes even Tom who seems most often to just become frustrated) would be the one to push B’Elanna and break through her defenses. That’s to say it makes perfect sense that B’Elanna would be absolutely enamored by this person who views her as inspiring, would be struck by that while Harry views it as just a weird question.

did you ever watch fargo? it has similar story beats to true detective, at least, season one (it’s another anthology type series, crime focused) there’s a dude in there who i think you’d get a kick out out of… very much quietly intensely batshit insane and Off™️ but somehow presents himself as the sanest one in the room. he’s rust cohle, in a way, but murderer, not detective

Thanks for the rec! Watched S1 over the past week or so. Was good but it frustrated me. Billy Bob Thornton Serial Killer was the highlight, you were right! He was very fun. What a weirdo.

I don't know if it was that I grew up in an area with accents like theirs so I was like, hyper aware They Are Doing An Accent, or that it was based on Coen Brother's work, but a lot of the characters felt... rather like caricatures? I don't know, something about it had a wall between me and it, where I wasn't immersed so they felt like We Are Actors On A Set Delivering Lines Really Well rather than I was in the moment, if that makes any sense. Maybe it was the monologues, Flannigan series can have the same affect to me.

Still, was a really good cast. I needed Martin Freeman to get his comeuppence like three episodes sooner, my god that man could just wiggle out of everything (SPOILER he sent his wife to get shot???? what the fuck is wrong with him. I was screaming SPOILER OVER). I always like it when Colin Hanks pops up in things. Allison Tolman and Billy Bob Thornton fucking carried the whole thing, they were the only two I didn't really get the I Am Delivering Lines With Emotion And This Thick Minnesotan Accent feeling.

Writing was generally tight, too. Good full circle moments and Chekov's guns, pieces came together in satisfying ways. Was fun to be rooting for Molly to catch her killers and for Billy Bob to fucking get Martin Freeman. I think it could have been one episode shorter, or skipped the time jump, to give the police a modicum more competence, they were killing me.

Idk if I'll watch the other seasons, I did enjoy it overall. Might check out the newest one because I'm a slut for Jon Hamm.
