this was indeed a challenge, but I came up with something I'm actually really proud of, and I hope you like it too!! 🥰🥰 I posted the board separately and tagged you (just to avoid some of the weird formatting stuff that happens when I try to reply to asks with multiple images lmao) but you can also find it right here! 🖤❤️

since I couldn't really use 80s/modern images, I tried to focus on aspects of his character that I could find in older pieces (such as the dice to represent dnd, demons for the symbol for hellfire club, rings, guitar, etc.)

in my scouring of images that might work, I found a portrait that looked so shockingly like a historical eddie that I totally had to do a double take. that artwork is Thomas Folliott, 2nd Baron Folliott of Ballyshannon, painted by an unknown artist in the mid-1600s. I ended up using it as the center image of the moodboard because I was just so blown away with how much it looked like him, but I also am posting the whole thing here with a comparison because I literally cannot get over the resemblance. so uhhhh I guess if you need an artwork for a 17th century european nobility au, I've got your guy right here! 😅

but anyway I really hope you enjoy what I've come up with! ☺️

❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?

ooooh boy. TIL that I have 41 fics on AO3 (not counting the drabbles written for Tumblr eyes only), and I don't remember the literary details from 39 of those.

I'm still stupidly proud (and wrecked. so wrecked.) about spotting the Eli in Cornelia, and the Antares-to-Scorpion parallel. But that's an idea, not a line.

So because you asked, I skimmed Bel astre que j'adore and this was the theme that drove the car before it turned into a 10K train.

"There it was, her Holy Trinity, embodied in all its glorious contradiction: the man she loved, singing the glory of the Lord she loved, on the altar of the Church she loved. God was Love, indeed, but only God could share himself in three; the sinner that she was could only choose two. She knew who she must let go, but the way he sang, and the glances he stole her way as he did so, made it impossible to consider."

And at the other end of the serious spectrum, this Anne/Charlotte exchange:

🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?

I'm really enjoying (in a masochistic kind of way) writing Cornelia right now, and switching over to Eli as a sanity-checker, because that lady has serious issues and trauma (not that he doesn't, but writing him doesn't constantly feel like he's about to completely unravel and/or snap if I pull on the wrong string... yet). But her warmth, love and faith counterbalance it and are so inspiring. And she can be very funny.

In Mercy Street, I think Jed probably came easiest with the dry wit and sarcasm we share, and Byron for being such a flamboyant yet oddly earnest clown (which we don't exactly share, but it's tons of fun to write about). Mary was my favorite on the show and I loved writing her, but I'm aware there was some personal projecting going on there.

🎯 Do you have a writing milestone you’re working towards?

I actually have two: finishing In camera and writing a sex scene.

Unfortunately, they go together, which is why I'm answering Fic Ask Games instead of writing.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

Fanart? For me? Someone could just write one of my shitty titles in pretty calligraphy and I'd be over. the. moon.

I would get a giant kick out of seeing anything from Cruise Ship brought to artistic life to supplement co-writer's @jomiddlemarch's moodboards. Heart-shaped hot tubs, vintage walkie talkies, smarmy lounge singers, inflatable unicorns, open bars. If someone could draw a Where's Waldo scene set on the Empress Queen in all its glorious nonsense, I would have peaked in this life and could die very happy.

1- How many works do you have on AO3?

With today's publishing of Clockwork (which has a moodboard I'm super proud of 😭), I have 19 works!

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

204,675 words! A few are missing since I haven't uploaded my most recent ficlets yet.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Supergirl :) Generally supercorp, though I do have a dansen ficlet, and my first rojarias fic will be out in a couple months for @supergirlmayhem!

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

No One and Nothing (season 4 rift) So I Kept Pretending (my first fic 🥺) Synthesis (season 2 fix-it) Inauthentic (pink kryptonite finale fix-it... it's not what you think!!) Iridescent (season 5 rift fic)

5. Do you respond to comments?

I do!!

When I first started, I actually thought you weren't "supposed" to respond to all your comments. I eventually decided to throw that thought out the window, because I'm really grateful for comments and want to thank people. They really do mean the world to authors ❤️

(If someone has multiple in a row, I usually respond to just one in a cluster, but I appreciate all of them!)

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I'm only capable of happy endings.

That said, Darkness in All Things and Iridescent had the most... complication in their endings. Things aren't perfect, but all the relevant characters are alive and happy.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

They are all happy 😌

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've gotten comments from some known trolls and a couple of rude folks. It's worth noting that even the big authors get them, so I largely ignore/delete them.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I have written smut once. I will do it at least once more. It tends to lean towards soft, and I find myself kind of terrified to throw smutty things into the world. (I think this is the ex-Catholic trauma talking.)

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I haven't written a crossover. This tweet is the best I've got on that front 🤣

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of. (I have no idea why people even do this... how do you feel proud of something you didn't even do?)

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know of.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope! I've never even had a fic beta'd. The idea of either of those terrifies me.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

Xena/Gabrielle will always be dearest to my heart. I just never felt the need to write for that ship - the show gave me almost everything I wanted. (If you ever watch it, make sure to watch season 6 in spaghetti order.)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

None! I only have 2 published WIPs, both of which I'm super excited to complete (they were started earlier this year). For my unpublished WIPs, I'm pretty confident in them too.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I come up with good plots to explore the characters with.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Writing 😭 I have this story in my head that I want to tell - how the characters change and are interpreted and all that - but I find I never get close to conveying what I actually want. Writing is very hard!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Eep, I don't want to screw up another language. I occasionally include kryptonese when it feels natural, but otherwise I don't do this.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Supercorp got me writing fanfiction, and for that I am very grateful.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

This is a hard one.

Almost every fic, when I write it, is like my CHILD. It usually becomes my favorite - or at least top 3 - for the time I am writing it.

I will say Even Though You're Kryptonian (which, coincidentally, was the 20,000th supercorp fic). It started off as a lark to use some ideas I thought I'd never get around to otherwise, but ended up weaving together better than I thought it would.

But that's an answer that changes by the day.

how do you find motivation to write? I think you're very cool, especially with 70 fics uploaded on ao3! not comparing my self to you, but I would also like to be able to write so much in a small amount of time, except I'm not able to. I either think my writing is not that good, or lose the motivation to continue... for eg, yesterday I wrote 300 words I was very proud of, but then I kept rereading and editing, and suddenly I'm not proud of it anymore. how do I continue writing? without nitpicking... also one thing I've noticed is that if I write some amount of words, I tend to re-read and start editing. is that the problem?

Hey nonnie, first of all I'm sending you loads of hugs because that is an exhausting place to be in ❤️ Now I know you said you're not comparing yourself to me, but I can only really speak from my own experience here, and it's really important to keep in mind that everyone is different, so -

First of all, I've been writing on and off since I was 10 or something. That are a whooping 19 years, and almost none of that is on my ao3 (or anywhere else visible to the public eye, thank god). Even then, if you go back only three years on fics I have posted (and some from back then I have deleted again) you'll find that my writing has changed a lot (I like to believe for the better).

So the first piece of, admittedly kind of unsatisfying but still most important advice? Practise. Practise practise practise. Write it badly, write it messy, but write. You will get better, and you will get faster, but you're only going to achieve either of those if you actually write.

Which sucks! I get it. I get having something in your mind and not getting it on the page the way you want it to, which leads me to my second point: be gentle with yourself. Don't push through if it upsets you - a lot of people say 'just force yourself' but I don't believe it's the best approach. Read things with a focus on what you like about what you are reading, read poetry, note lyrics of your favourite songs. This is a hobby, supposed to be fun and bring you joy, and if it only upsets and frustrates you, it might be better to take a step back and find the joy in stories again first.

Third of all: write what you want to read, not what you think others might want to read/what might get you loads of kudos, etc. Write what you are passionate about, the fic you have always wanted but never found, the one only you can write. Get excited about all the scenes it is going to have, make playlists and moodboards for it, ramble about it to your friends and get excited about getting to that one part. It makes writing the parts you're maybe less excited about easier, in my experience.

Which leads me to: yes, don't keep going back to edit. This isn't a hard and fast rule and others might disagree (again, everyone is different) but it seems that you may be similar to me in that regard. If I keep re-reading and editing, I lose motivation too. I'm a fairly quick writer on my first draft, but that is at least partly because I write it badly, and I can edit it later (and I spend a lot of time on editing before I post my stories. I mean, a lot). Get your first draft done first. Maybe skim back for details, but don't edit it to death before you're done. You don't judge your cooking before the meal is done either. I find editing to be much more bearable and less demotivating when I can see the story as a whole, and yes there are parts I have to fix or that I can tweak to be better, but I've already written an entire story, and that's amazing no matter what!

None of this is a magic fix, and I'm really sorry that you're struggling so much. It's a process, and sometimes it's hard, but I do think that reframing the way you approach this in small ways might help. I said this above, but this is supposed to bring you joy, and I really hope you can find that, in your ideas or the way you phrased something, or even just that you wrote 300 words and kept yourself from picking them apart. Let yourself be proud of what you wrote, that you did it at all is amazing! ❤️

I really hope 2022 treats me as well as 2021 or maybe even BETTER!! Venice Moodboard

They were staying at her grandmother’s house in Venice, which felt like a little escape into magic. Her grandmother, almost 80 but still fiercely independent, had gone to visit a friend in the mountains for nearly a month. Jiyan had asked if they could house-sit, and her grandmother had happily agreed. The apartment spanned two floors—a rarity in Venice—and was tucked along one of the smaller canals in the older part of the city. It was the perfect, peaceful way to experience Venice, and Cillian found it all the more enchanting with Jiyan showing him around.

They fell into a gentle rhythm together, taking things slow and easy. In the mornings, Cillian would make coffee, and Jiyan showed him how to use a Moka pot to make it the Italian way, though she still preferred her tea. Wandering through Venice with her, especially steering clear of the busy tourist spots, brought him a deep sense of calm. He loved just walking, hearing nothing but the gentle splash of waves against the canals, breathing in the salty air, and catching bits of the locals’ quiet conversations.

Exploring the city with a local opened up a whole new side of Venice. There were no cars, only boats sliding by in the canals. Whole shops of fruits and vegetables floated along the waterways, and even the mail came by boat. The absence of city noise and smog felt like a relief, making it easy to let go of the usual bustle of city life. He laughed at how easily he got lost without Jiyan to guide him—the narrow streets and winding alleys were beautiful, a maze he’d never figure out alone. Venice was vibrant and peaceful all at once, and it felt like a little world all to themselves.

🥧: Regardless of skill, if you could bake anything right now (pie, cake, muffin, brownie etc.) what would you like to make? Uhh i have this really easy butter cookie recipe which is wonderful in on itself or as a side for tea or coffee or anything really. I'm just not that big on sweets to make them for myself because i'd be force to eat them for like 2 weeks and i'm just not putting through that myself. I mean i'd love to eat like.. 3 and that would be perfect. Maybe when i'll have guests or something, i'll make them.

📺: Do you watch horror movies? If yes, which are your favorite? I do! I'm more into the classic slashers like Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Scream or the original Halloween, the Shining, American psycho (does it count horror at all? whatever) and i would have a hard time choosing just one.. but i'm pretty much game for anything in the genre. But to pick a favourite from any of these? It's waaay too hard. Also i equally like thrillers as well. Okay i'm pretty much omnivore in movies. From crima dramas to sci-fi to fantasy until action. Anything is game. Especially action movies lately.

🧛: Did you ever dress up for a costume party, or maybe cosplay for a convention? If yes, which character? Both. I occasionally dressed up for parties but i did cosplay a lot a few years back. I'm too lazy to list all the characters that i did (mostly anime/manga characters), but so far i'm most proud of my Reaper from Overwatch even if it was a bit unfinished and could have used a bit more work. I still have a few characters lined up, that i want to make but i didn't had the time nor the budget so far but maybe this or next year i can manage. But here, have a look at my pride and joy for now:

🍬: All-time favorite candy? Candy? Oh, Twizzlers. Definitely. The basic strawberry flavoured red ones. I'm not much for sweets in general, i rarely eat chocolate or any type of candy or sweets to be fair, but i don't consider twizzlers candy anyway.. because there are times i eat a pack and skip proper meals for the rest of the day. Which i don't recommend because it's not healty so be better than me please.

I’m so sorry you lost inspiration for your series, by all means take the time you need ❤️ I just want to let you know, you’re an incredible writer, I and so many more people get so excited every time you announce you’re writing something new and/or you’ve posted something new (I personally get a huge smile on my face and do a little happy dance, don’t know about anybody else 😂).

& I understand where the anon is coming from, & their feelings and yours are important & you shouldn’t do anything you’re uncomfortable with. I love your mood boards because they set the tone and aesthetic for the chapter/series/oneshot I don’t look at the pictures as what the reader looks like if that makes sense? Like when you describe a dress & I see the dress I can picture it on anyone because I’m a firm believer in if you love it wear it regardless of body type or skin colour.

But again, I apologise if I’m being annoying and I don’t want to come across as selfish or insensitive, do what makes you happy, and what you’re comfortable with because at the end of the day it’s you who is writing things, and making moodboards
