I went to the second floor and went to the bathroom to do my touch ups. After the touch up I fixed my hair and dress. Then I went out of the bathroom. I was walking through the hallway when I bumped into someone. When I looked up it was Gojo. Fuck! Not again!

You're all chattering amongst yourself and occupie a table in the corner. Kyle isn't sure who he has to thank for your return because his bar surely isn't the most popular with regular people and there's prettier spots out there, but he's not gonna complain.

He wipes his hands on a towel, swings it over his shoulder and approaches your table. Suddenly he's happy that his bar is so small and cozy that he can manage it alone.

The first chapter of the wolfstar fanfiction, that I started to obsessively write last night. Will put this on ao3 as well once I get my invite code since I appear to have forgotten the login to my old one. So this will have to do for now.

This has 11 chapters and stretches over the time from them falling in love in Hogwarts, over the years trying to navigate their relationshiph right to the end of it. Sirius wasn't entirely sure when it had started.

Maybe that time in 4th, when Remus had fallen asleep over his books in the common room and Sirius had noticed just how sweet he looked, when he was sleeping. Tie askew, strands of brown hair sticking to his forehead, one hand still wrapped around his quill.

Or maybe in 3rd, when Remus made a remarkably funny pun and made Sirius laugh so hard, that he almost choked on his breakfast.

Or maybe even in 1st, when Remus almost fell off his broom during flying class and Sirius grabbed the other boys broom to steady it, receiving a shy smile in return. A smile that would make Sirius heart flutter without any reason or merit.

Whenever it may have started, Sirius certainly could not deny it after 5th, when Remus had forgotten his silencing charm during a very private activity that Sirius now happened to overhear, causing interesting new layers to the whole issue.

Since then his head had been filled with thoughts of Remus. About his smile, his laugh, his voice, his smell, his hands, his...well you can imagine. Suddenly, being close to Remus made him unbearably nervous and queasy. A feeling that he was not quite used to and did not care much for. Sirius had to admit, that maybe he had a problem. A problem that he had vowed to keep to himself.

Of course keeping problems to himself was easy, he had year long experince with biting his tounge at family dinners to avoid being hexed to his chair and silencioed overnight - a punishment that his father had developed a taste for since he started talking back. There was just one tiny, tiny issue with this. The issue had unruly hair, glasses, an unbreakable ego and the uncanny ability to read Sirius thoughts right out of his head.

"So you do fancy him then?" James asked tentatively. Sirius felt the heat creep over his cheeks to his ears.

"I don't know what you're talking about," he snapped and sped up his pace so James had to almost jog to keep up with him.

"Oh come on pads, I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you, okay? I was just wondering, since lately you've been so..."

"So what?" Sirius stopped abruptly and spun around, facing James. He shouldn't be running from an issue, he was a Griffindor after all! James, a bit taken aback by the sudden change of direction almost bumped into him.

"Well, you know," he ruffled his hair. "Just kind of...you always look at him like that."

"Like what?"

"Like I look at Lily Evans I suppose. I mean, of course I don't know what I look like when I look at her, but you look like I imagine I look like. You know? It was really just a thought, don't be mad."

Sirius sighed. As if he could be mad at James. And he was right. He did fancy Remus. Merlin, just thinking it felt terrifying.

"And what if. What if I did?" he asked quietly, not looking at James and staring past him instead.

"I suppose that's alright? I mean there's nothing wrong with him. He's a nice guy."

"So...it wouldn't bother you?"

James laughed. "Why would it bother me? I want you to be happy, mate." He jovially slapped Sirius arm. Then he got serious. "Where you worried about that?"

Sirius clicked his tounge in annoyance.

"Come on pads, there is nothing you could do to...to make me like you less. You're my best friend! I don't care who you shag."

"I'm not shagging anyone! I just...I just got a crush on him, that's all. I'll ignore it until it goes away." James didn't seem very convinced.

"I think you should just talk to him. Maybe he likes you back." Sirius snorted.

"Are you insane? I can't just tell him! It's not that easy. You wouldn't just walk up to your crush and..." He trailed off. His point was moot. James smiled triumphantly.

"See? It is actually not that hard, just ask him out."

"Just ask him out. What would that even look like? 'Hey Moony, wanna go to Hogsmead with me? No, not with the others, like just you and me. On a date.' He would think I am trying to prank him!"

"Hmm, I guess you're not completely wrong about that...but what if...what if you just sit him down and..."

"No. I will not do anything of the sort. I will just wait it out. This can't be going on forever."

"Right."

Sirius sighed. Then suddenly his eyes narrowed.

"You can not tell him. Do you understand? If you tell him I will be so incredibly mad at you. I will..." he thought about an appropriate threat that would ideally not make any of them suffer too much. This was James after all. "I will not listen to any of your Quidditch ramblings ever again!"

"So you just don't like anyone? Are none of the girls good enough for you?" Lily asked teasingly playing around with her quill. Remus groaned.

"I came here to study, not to be quizzed about my lovelife."

"Hey! I am just trying to get know my boyfriends friends. Nothing wrong with that." She smiled sweetly.

"You have known me sufficiently since last year, I believe. There is really not that much interesting to learn about me." He  shuffled uncomfortably on his chair. As happy as he was for James to have finally made it with Lily - she was asking to many questions. And there were certain things that he wished to not share with her under any circumstances.

"Sure, and you seem like a decent guy to me. So no reason to spend such a fine day studying all by yourself."

"I am not by myself though, aren't I?" The reply sounded much more snarky than he had intended and he hoped that Lily wouldn't take it personally. She didn't.

"Sure sure but I'm sure there is someone who you'd rather be with right now?"

There was. And she couldn't find out about him.

"What about Henrietta Morrison? She's nice."

"I don't think she's my type. And I don't think I am hers."

"So what's your type then?"

Goddamit, she got him. Be vague, be vague.

"Uhhh I don't know. Dark hair, intelligent. Tall..." What was he doing. Lily looked at him intently.

"You know who that sounds like?"

"No," he replied sternly and tried to hide behind his book. This was a desaster. A slender finger appeared in front of him, gently but firmly lowering the tome to expose his face.

"Remus," she asked gently. "Is it Sirius?"

Remus winced. Why was she so good at this?

"Please don't tell anyone. Especially not James. If James knows, Sirius will find out immediately."

"Not if I ask him not to tell him," Lily said decidedly.

"He doesn't have to, they're like some sort of hive mind. If one of them knows something, the other does to." He sighes.

"So you don't want to tell him?"

"What?! No, of course not! Lily, are you mental? He would never like me. Have you looked at him? He is so...fucking handsome and smart and funny..."

"And mean and arrogant."

"Yes, but I kind of like that too," Remus admitted and buried his blushig face in his hands.

Playboyy Anniversary Week 1+2 | Favorite Character + Favorite Sexual Fantasy

Sorry for being so late to the party, y'all! As penance I'm probably gonna write way too much about who and what I like and also share screenshots.

The short answer is Porsche! I love him and his cunty little outfits.

The long answer is that from the moment I saw him dominating and humiliating the fuck out of Jump I knew this tiny dom who wants to be railed would be one of my favorites. 

I didn't know that Porsche was my absolute favorite until the sugar baby reveal, which was when the depths of my obsession began.

Despite not yet being exposed to the agonies, I was into him and Jump from the start.

I'm really not sure where to begin with my feelings about Porsche. He gives me the agonies (positive) if I rotate him in my mind even the tiniest bit. It's always so rewarding to think about him.

I remember thinking that if Zouey's friends know his sexual hang-ups (and they do, we have proof they do) then Porsche knows exactly how unlikely Zouey is to fully take advantage of whoever he hires. 

He did choose someone who aligns with Zouey's physical type, so good job Porsche. If I think too hard about how Zouey and Porsche having the same physical type also translates to them both having been into Jason's body, it makes me really sad, but it's another moment when you can see that Playboyy had spent so much time not only thinking about what the characters are into sexually, but in the ways that comes out when they actually fuck. 

Porsche's place, where they host Zouey's birthday party, has this fucking fascinating wall in it that's a real clue into Porsche and how he sees the non-Jason dudes he fucks:

And honestly it's just such great environmental/visual storytelling about where Porsche is coming from.

Before all the shit with Jason happened, did Zouey and Porsche bond about being into buff guys? (Note that there's nobody on that wall with a body like Porsche's.) It seems like Zouey, Nant, and Porsche were very close first semester but weren't as close by the time the show starts. We all know Jason is the reason for that, but I wanna know what things looked like before the stuff with Jason happened. 

The most devastating Porsche moment in the show, for my money, is the expression on Porsche's face when Zouey says "You don't know what it's like" (or something on those lines), meaning that Porsche hasn't been assaulted by someone so he doesn't know what it's like.

Do you see this? The agonies, y'all. Porsche gives me the agonies and it's great. 

There's another thing that I think about a lot with Porsche, and it's the text messages.

We know from them that Jason required Porsche to text him pictures every morning of his dick, and presumably have some sort of call too since Jason called and Porsche missed it and got in trouble. 

That's so much daily trauma from just having to exist! No wonder he ends up acting out.

The fact that Porsche's sadism shows his abuse is so interesting to me, too.

He's clearly sadistic, but he realizes after the stuff with Tutor (and when faced with the reality of Jason coming home) that he treated Jump badly. And then these two idiots (affectionate) go and role play meeting for the first time again?? My heart.

I think in the end Porsche is my favorite because you can always see him struggling with something, and a lot of what he struggles with (like Zouey) is balancing his own desires with his trauma. The only difference is that for Porsche, the trauma is ongoing. Even after the little happy scene with Jump, Porsche returns to Jason and the daily trauma of his life.

Just as a reminder, these are series I either watched recently or remember at the top of my mind because of sheer popularity. Also, my bad in advance if it turns out some of these aren't shojo but shonen (reason I didn't include Skip&Loafer, for example).

With that out of the way, my top 10 fave shojos in order (that I would and have rewatched multiple times):

Revolutionary Girl Utena. A classic. It's got it all: the esthetics, the slightly surreal aspect of the world, the trope deconstruction, tackling rarely addressed issues (such as patriarchy, heteronormativity, the changes puberty brings to a teenage girl, etc.) as well as some... more sensitive ones (there's a reason there's so many trigger warning lists for RGU). Also, the music SLAPS.

SAFT (both anime and LN). Just look at my Sugar Apple Fairy Tale tag. I've liveblogged every episode of this show since I learned of its existence. I was looking forward to the previews. I fell into this head first and it was some of the best experience I had with a series! It was right up my alley: sunshine hardworking girl winning over the people around her thanks to her kindness and optimism + grumpy stoic traumatized man who becomes softer and grows thanks to her set in a semi-fantasy Europe-based world. I liked that both Anne and Shall had to deal with discrimination (Anne as a girl in a male-dominated industry, Shall as a fairy in a human-led society) and how the later LN volumes address those issues (instead of fairy slavery and sexism being just background lore). The show can be really pretty when it wants to, and the music is also very nice.

7th Time Loop (both anime and LN). Just like with SAFT, I'm obsessed. The anime is doing such a good job adapting the source material at a good pace, the quality is great, and the VAs are killing it. The LN also has very tight writing: the author has an eye for adding details that seem unassuming/offhanded at first, but end up being crucial. Rishe's and Arnold's characters and dynamic are phenomenal. Just look at my 7th time loop tag

Akatsuki no Yona (the anime/early corresponding manga arcs).

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at LVL 999.

Ouran High School Host Club (the anime). I'm a sucker for romance, but where OHSHC got me is with its humor. The first episode is a classic, and I will always love the light bulbs scene as each member of the host club figures out Haruhi is a girl. Tamaki is a riot, the perfect blend of goofy, perceptive, and introspective. He deals with some serious issues, but he never lets them drag him down or, at the very least, affect his precious ones. What's great about OHSHC too is the character growth in the second half of the show. The series lures you in thinking it's just a comedic slice of life high school romance only to hit you with some real feels when it reveals its characters' backstories, fears, and reflections.

underrated actualplay stuff. (wait hang on carlos was involved with almost all of these. interesting)

1- coffin run. please. i am begging everyone. watch it. izzy and zac have what i am 100% confident is the funniest dynamic of the entirety of d20. every single time the camera cuts to them, something unhinged and fucking hilarious is about to happen. carlos is the most wet kitten of a man, and erika... i can't do may justice. you gotta watch it.

2- battle for beyond. that top 5 was extremely difficult- i almost just said 5 of the 6 pcs because it's all just. so. good. the nikhil/sestia/murdina throuple is everything to me. the characters' growth and god the worldbuilding. i cannot overstate how much i love it.

3- dnd chaos. i really need to rewatch them. again, tables of pcs that absolutely fuck. i need citizen doctor abraham mehermblur carnally. both times, it's a fucking all-star cast. 10/10 highly recommend.

4- barbie d&d from PixelCircus. i've seen basically no one talking about it, and holy shit it was so fucking funny and i love when a shiny, happy aesthetic ends up going into truly terrifying existential horror. "this barbie commits war crimes!" carlos pops the fuck off.

5- candela obscura. i've not seen the first arc and i'm not done with the second (i've got an hour left of ep 2 and ep 3 is six. hours. long.) but god fucking damn. just. watch it. i cannot do it justice.

Bobby knows there's something wrong with him, he's known for a while. It started when Nicole Wallace appeared on his radar and has carried on over the last couple of months. He doesn't sleep that much anymore, he's become more focused on his work, he doesn't take the same joy he used to in the little things. You've sensed his change on mood, he's more serious, more surly. It bleeds into eveything he does.

"You're depressed." You tell him when the two of you sit on a car that's colder than the arctic, hands wrapped around a steaming take away cup of coffee.

Its day three of the stakeout and you have had enough of the oppressive silence that spans between the two of you.

He leans back in the driver's seat, his eyes closing for a moment as be takes in this new information.

"Probably." He tells you.

"Definately." You inform him as you open a packet of sugar and deposit it into the coffee, before stirring it. "You let her get under your skin and now you can't shake it."

He tilts his head, his grizzled cheek brushing against the headrest as he looks at you pointedly.

You shrug your shoulders.

"You're a great behaviourist but you're shit at self reflection."

"You think you know me." He remarks, his brow burrowing. "But you don't know a damn thing about what goes on in my head."

"Alright..." you tell him. "When was the last time you went to that park you like? The one with the fountain? Or picked up a book? Before her you were always reading and now it's like she consumes you and that's on you, you're giving her the space to live in your head."

He knows you're right, he knows that he has the predisposition to get obsessive. He never realises it's happening until he's neck deep and starting to suffocate. You talking to him like this. It's giving him a lifeline, identifying the issue before he let's himself drown.

"I want to get better." He confides in you, rubbing his hands together against the frosty chill. "I just can't seem to help myself. Logically I know how to move forward but when it comes down to it..."

He trails off because he knows you get it. Developing healthy behaviours is tough especially when you've fallen out of sync with it. He used to enjoy his own company and now he hates the idea of being alone because it gives him too much time to think.

"Come out with me tomorrow." You offer, taking a sip from your coffee cup. "There's an exhibition on at the Met, the one you were excited about a couple of months ago. I'll even let you explain the intricacies of art in a post modern society."

He laughs and it feels good. It occurs to him it's the first time he's done it in a while and he knows that somehow you've broken the ice that he's been slapping at for weeks.

"Ok." He agrees. "But you have to at least pretend to be interested, you really have to sell it to me."

"I'll work on it." You promise.

A comfortable silence falls between the two of you and he realises that he's still smiling, that you always have this way of getting through to him even when his head is a messy place to be.

"Thank you." He says quietly into the darkness of the car.

"I've got you." You tell him softly. "When things get a bit too much, I'm here, I've got you."

Super Afterthoughts RPG

Game: Super Mario RPG (November 17, 2023)

Hello hello! It's late at night, and I'm trying to get myself to write up my thoughts on some games again! I've got a few to get through. But this one in particular I've been holding off on for a good minute. Because... well... the original game is my favorite game of all time! It's hard to really put my thoughts about my favorite game ever to words so easily. Plus, I only want to write about it while I'm in a good mood. So this one may be written over the course of a few days.

I still remember when this game was a huge rumor for what felt like AGES. It was kind of will they wont they between remaking it or just slapping it onto NSO. I'm still, honestly, in a bit of disbelief it got a full from the ground up remake for modern consoles. But, I'm very happy to say, it's here! And it's real! And this game I love and adore so much is back! And that makes me very happy!

Now, I think this is the first remake I'll be talking about on here. And since it's a remake of a game I'm OBSESSED with. I'll probably not go into intense detail about why I love Super Mario RPG. You already know what I like about it (EVERYTHING) and what I dislike about it (NOTHING). Instead, I'll try to focus on what I think made this such a nice remake for a super fan of the game like me!

As always, this isn't a review! Just my thoughts after having beaten it! PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEASE play this game yourself if it interests you!!

SPOILERS FOR SUPER MARIO RPG REMAKE!! INCLUDING SPOILERS FROM THE ORIGINAL AND NEW STUFF IN THE REMAKE!!

Opening

So, like I said before. Super Mario RPG is my favorite video game of ALL TIME. Not just RPG, not just Mario game, not just one of my favorites. I'm talking #1 favorite game EVER! I played it waaaaay back in middle school a good long time ago and it really just got to me. There's so much I absolutely adore about this game!

So when the remake was announced, needless to say I was pretty excited. Even if I was... a little apprehensive. Mostly just concerned they may mess it up. Or they may not understand what made the original so magical. It was a big concern because, yknow, the game had been gone for so long with absolutely no attention.

But I'll go ahead and spare you the suspense now: this is an amazing remake. And it not only lived up to, but exceeded my expectations that I had for it. So I'm very excited to finally sing its praises!

Stuff I liked

This is a REALLY faithful remake. Pretty much nothing is lost across the translation with very few exceptions. The remake manages to bring over so much of what made the original so good while updating it in very nice ways. The graphics? AMAZING! I seriously love how cute the game looks, and how it still keeps a similar style to sprites while updating them. Like it's not afraid to respect the original's look (WHICH LOOKS GREAT, BY THE WAY, THE ORIGINAL LOOKS AMAZING TO ME!!!) but knows that it's okay to tune up where it may be needed. Very few characters don't make a particularly great transition over (like, I can count them on my hand). The areas all look WONDERFUL and they manage to keep the same playful energy and don't lose much from the original. Plus, being full 3D really does help with some platforming challenges and the 3D maze puzzle imo. I imagine this will help a LOT of newcomers out.

The updated soundtrack is GREAT!! Some of my favorite songs are seriously redone absolutely AMAZINGLY here. My personal favorites being Fight Against Smithy, Who Likes Transforming and Dreams Through Window Stars. Both of which are done so wonderfully. But, hey, you also have access to the original soundtrack! Which is SUCH a nice touch! But it was genuinely lovely hearing some new takes on songs I thought I may never see again in an official capacity.

Then there's the gameplay, which is fairly similar to the original, yeah. But I think that's still reason to sing its praise! They've brought the combat over really nicely, and despite adding some things to make it easier, the game is still fun and isn't made too easy. Which was a concern I had between them showing when to time action commands as well as having the shock wave effects AND giving you stat boosts when you build up proper action command combos. Despite doing all this, I actually think they managed to balance the game out nicely. Maybe I'm crazy but I do feel like enemy parties are consistently larger and have more health to compensate. So it all works very well. And of course, I'd be beside myself if I didn't bring up my favorite change: THE TEAM ATTACKS! This was such an unneeded change, they didn't have to give this HUGE bit of fanservice, but I'm SO thankful they did!! I ADORE crossover attacks between teammates in RPGs, it's a shamefully underused concept and is one of the reasons I consider Chrono Trigger to still be one of the GOAT RPGs. So to know my favorite game ever would be getting this feature? That was HUGE, and it delivered!! I really loved this and it added a new dynamic to the team composition and made me wanna try out some of the other characters more and not JUST Mario, Geno, Mallow lol.

I'm actually REALLY surprised at how much is left in tact. Sure, some things were changed like small effects, the names, and no Black Jack. But it is a SHOCKINGLY faithful remake all around. Even including stuff like Beetle Mania or the secret menu codes. And polishing stuff up like no missable chests. And all the new stuff they added is WONDERFUL! It's pretty exciting they added in boss rematches as I think that's something a lot more games could benefit from. With the best one obviously being Culex's rematch for so many reasons. But I do think I have to say that the fully animated cutscenes are hands down the absolute BEST addition to the game. Having cool intros to each boss is absolutely DELIGHTFUL, having a nice prerendered scene for each teammate's introduction RULES. But in particular, the way they animate the final cutscene floored me. If you don't know, the scene of the whole team on Vista Hill watching Exor fade away is one of my favorite shots in video game history. I SCREAMED when I saw it got a fully animated cutscene. It was AMAZING! And the credits were so cute with it looking how it did on the SNES. I called it IMMEDIATELY that the graphics would update for the second half lol.

But of course, the best new cutscene. Hands down. Is the finale. This particularly blew me away. The original's ending is one of my favorites, I have extremely fond memories of watching it in Geno cosplay when I was in middle school (I came home from a con and immediately finished it lol) and just cry at the The End screen. So when a cutscene started up here I freaked out. It was SO cute, and having them actually include Bowser and Mallow was such a wonderful touch. It was cute, it was beautiful, it was emotional. And it really capped off the remakes' whole feelings of "wow... it really came back." I don't know how to describe it properly but hopefully you understand what I'm feeling lol.

Stuff I didn't like

Now... I am of course a bit of an obsessive fan over this game. So I had a few complaints about it. MOST OF IT NITPICKS!! Yes. There's not THAT much to complain about. I think some enemies don't look perfect this time around, I think it's really frustrating that they STILL don't let you have all the star pieces when you pause the menu after beating the game despite actually having post game content, and perhaps the worst of all. I HATE that they removed the card suit icons from each character. Does it really matter? Well... No. But it's such an iconic part of the original to me that I can't help but still feel a little burnt that it wasn't included. That's like, crucial Super Mario RPG imagery in my mind.

Also, am I crazy, or does every enemy in this remake put you to sleep? Maybe I'm misremembering but I don't remember having to wake my teammates up this much EVER in the original, but I felt like I was waking them up every other battle this time. Particularly during Valentina which I died to a shocking amount lol.

However, the big real disappointment of this remake to me personally? Is the new post game content. Honestly I would've been fine with maybe just some new cutscenes or something. But when they said it would be boss rematches I was pleasantly excited! And I know I complimented them earlier but can I be honest?? Dude those rematches SUCK. Like, I think I enjoyed one of them. They're all really gimmicky, like Booster's ends super fast and Johnny requires you to play it 100% perfectly. It's just not fun and honestly didn't feel like the most exciting post game content possible. At least to me. Regardless though how they handled Culex and his rematch is PERFECT. Going through the less than stellar rematches is genuinely worth it because I think the Culex rematch is so good. So there is that.

Final Thoughts

BUT, regardless? This was a truly amazing remake. And a genuinely wonderful return to this world that I'd completely given up on ever seeing again. Not to be melodramatic, but I will be. Yeah I had kinda started to give up and not care about this anymore. I had made peace that Mario RPGs were just... over. That's the way it was, Geno isn't gonna be in Smash, this game will never get any new content. It was done. But, to my surprise. I was wrong. And the remake did come. And no matter what happens now. At least this did happen and I got to see these characters again. I think this remake it amazing for ANYONE. If it's your first time, or if you've played the original too many times. You will LOVE this remake and have a great time with it. It feels like it was made by people who not only knew what made the original magical, but loved it and poured all that love in it. There's even more great stuff I could give it props for. I feel like I want to keep talking about every little thing this remake did so nicely. The polish to the psychopath collecting, how good the enemies look, how lovely the maps look. But honestly I would just be here forever. Super Mario RPG is my favorite game of all time and I'm so happy to see so many people get to experience it for the first time now.

That's all I got. I feel like I want to say more. But I think that's all I can say right now about this game. But before I go I did want to speak on my thoughts about Mario a little more.

So, I've been a Mario fan my whole life. Super Mario World was my first game ever, and I've been a devoted fan for years since. Mario was my life. I was obsessed with Mario lore and drawing every single Mario thing I possibly could and just gushing about everything I adored about the series. With the RPGs at the heart of it. I LOVED and ADORED the Mario RPGs, they made my life and inspired me so much.

But a while back, something kinda changed. I'm sure you already know, but the Mario RPGs kinda. Died? Like, they were still being made obviously. But the secondary Paper Mario Trilogy, even though I don't HATE them persay, were just not what I wanted and ultimately I don't really like them. Then Paper Jam happened and I personally really disliked it even in spite of having good combat. Then the M&L remakes which are cool but... Still not perfect and clearly troubled. My favorite games and types of games ever. Just... died? Out of nowhere. And then a lot of side series Mario stuff kinda dragged. DK dried up. Wario was kinda becoming eh around Gold. Luigi's Mansion 3 sucked. And even though the main series was still killing it imo. I just fell out of love with Mario. And I honestly kind of felt myself falling out of love with a lot of things at this time.

And originally, this section was gonna end on a pretty bummer note. But a lot has changed since I started writing this. Thousand Year Door got a remake randomly and it's looking amazing. And now Mario & Luigi is suddenly returning with a brand new entry that... LOOKS AMAZING!! And that's not even to mention Mario Rabbids which completely knocked it out of the park with Sparks of Hope. Mario RPGs... are seemingly back?

I've talked about this at length before but I didn't really want to get my hopes up because of remakes. Sure, of course you can still make a good turnbased Mario RPG with good combat and progression if you just redo the good ones. But could Nintendo still do a NEW one with good turnbased Mario RPG combat and progression? NOT UBISOFT!! Not a strategy RPG, a TURNBASED RPG. And well, it looks like with Brothership we may actually get to see. Yeah it all might be riding on M&L's shoulders again. But with everything going on, suddenly it doesn't feel stupid to hope I can enjoy these games again. Mario spinoffs all over seem to be back in action with Peach and Dark Moon HD. DK might come back now that Prime 4 is wrapping up. The Mario Movie rocked imo and the main series games are only looking more hopeful after how good Bowser's Fury was.

I still did want to make a little bit of a sad point in that. I don't think I'm back into the Mario Fanbase at large. I still consider it to be very poisonous as it was a huge reason why I fell out of love with Mario. And I still see that. When this and TTYD got announced my feeds were filled with insanely negative posts about how much everyone hates Mario RPGs and shit (I learned my lesson I'm trying not to read Brothership tweets but I've already had to mute some stuff lol), I still get clowned on for liking some of these games in spaces where I thought liking them was the point, and people still send me Geno hate posts thinking I'll like them because... Well, being a Mario fan seems to mean you have to hate this series and be insanely contrarian and trying to make bait posts to make people upset. I still see it constantly. And it's discouraging. And I don't like seeing it. So I don't know if I really have interest in being a part of the "Mario Fanbase" so to speak. Cause even if I'm crazy and I'm just too sensitive I don't think it's healthy for me to be getting this upset over a series meant to be particularly joyful.

BUT... and I can't believe I'm saying this. Yeah... It's looking good to be a Mario fan again. I may be falling back in love with the series. Again, I'm not entirely impressed with amazing remakes that bring me to tears with the level of quality... I still want something new to prove they can truly do it again. SO I'll be keeping a close eye on Brothership. But again, suddenly it doesn't feel stupid to have hope.

today totk got released!! and I played for 8 hours straight 😭 I'm not suuper far in the game yet, I sort of just started the rito quest with tulin, but here are some things I love and dislike about the game so far:

first of all I love the archaic outfit 😊 however I'm very sad that it only does 1 protection because I wanted to wear it all the time AJDBAJDB

I love everything about the zonai, like the way they look, the music associated with them, the way they talk at the end of a shrine, the way you can tell something is of zonai make just by looking at it, like that's how you know a concept design is well done ✋ I'm so fascinated by how rauru looks, he's just so amazing

I do hate how extremely similar aspects of the great sky island are to the great plateau, though. "room of awakening" bro r u serious rn 😭 the way rauru follows you around like the king good bye. I just feel like this could have been done a little more uniquely so that it didn't feel like the great plateau with a texture pack slapped over it

there's also some things that I felt botw just did so much better than totk. like the way rauru's ghost would disappear felt very cheap and uneventful, like why does he just fade to 0 opacity and nothing else happens ?? at least with the king his ghost faded with the little blue flames and sparkles, it made it seem more interesting

I hate the inventory layout I'm sawryy 😭 the botw inventory looks very sleek and easy to comprehend, but the way the totk inventory is designed just feels very cheap and elementary to me. not the scrolling on one page instead of having multiple pages, that's not my issue. just the color design and how so much more information is crowded into each tiny box when you are selling things, it just confuses the player with too much info

uhh what else. oh! I also hate the animation for when you get the abilities at the beginning, and when you get those lights of blessing or whatever (honestly I hate that name too, why is it so long I literally can't remember it 😭). like why do the orbs with the abilities and blessings look so 2d and unfinished? they look like they were slapped on top as a fanmade effect rather than actually being a part of the game, and every time I see it, I feel removed from being immersed in the games because it's distracting

but I totally love the way the zonai statues are at the end of the shrines!!! the way they talk is SO 🙏🙏 like I'm totally obsessed with it. also!! this is very specific, but I love the music that plays during shrine battles, like why does that song go so hard fr

omg something else I love is the pony points system it's so cute 😭✋ and honestly it's a great incentive for me to use the stables, I don't think I used them that much in botw so I definitely appreciate this new addition

omg yeah I was obsessed with the frozen rito village ost, it had the core elements of the ost from botw but with that lonely haunted vibe and I was gonna cry omg it really set the mood and I loved listening to it 😭

ohh yeah something I didn't enjoy was how it felt like I was being overloaded with so much plot-heavy info, especially once I started the rito village quest. like yeah I get maybe playing for 8 hours in one day is probably gonna fry my brain and attention span but it just felt like they were telling me to do all these things and I just felt so overwhelmed that I literally had to put the game away and stop playing for the night 😭 I think if things were spaced out more for what they tell you then the plot might have been more digestible

oh yeah this is minor but I don't like how when you go to a new place it says "discovery!" and also when you cook a new food it says "new!" like it felt very commercial and broke the immersion in the game for me, there was literally no reason for it to be in the game? (upon playing the game further I've decided I don't mind the "discovery" notif. but I still don't like when it says "new!" on a food I cooked sorryyy)

OMG WAIT SOMETHING I LOVED was how link cycles through humming different things when he cooks!!! it's so cute and I love him for it 😭

also I loved the function of when you open a chest and get a weapon but your inventory is full, instead of having to close the chest drop a weapon and reopen the chest, they added the feature where your inventory pops up and you can drop a weapon while still in the chest so you don't have to switch back and forth. it was so relieving for me ✋

umm I definitely feel like there was more I wanted to say, I just forgot 😭 but let me just say, despite me having a lot of negatives on here, I still really enjoyed this game, and honestly aside from the things I mentioned I disliked, I love pretty much everything else about the game!! there's so much to love and appreciate, I really can't list it all or else I'd just be listing literally every aspect about this game ajdhskfj. so yeah. while I'm disappointed that I found parts of totk to be lesser than what I had hoped, I am still overall ecstatic about this game and I'm so excited to see what else I'll discover in this game!!!! hey I'm back (not as of writing this post, like a couple months after initially starting totk), listen ok I hate these stupid sage powers like 💀 they're literally not useful at all, I think tulin's is the only one I use regularly, and even then I'd rather have revali's gale bc at least it goes up ??

I've been watching other ppl play and I realize that actually yunobo and riju can kinda be useful when fighting large groups, like if you just activate yunobi's ability you don't really need to aim him, and he'll hit a bunch of monsters. same with riju, just activate her and shoot somewhere random and it'll do damage. but other than that, like sidon and mineru are useless 😭 also I get rlly annoyed when I'm trying to pick things up and tulin gets in the way like GIRL GO AWAY ugh it would just be so much better if the abilities were activated like the champions instead idk

ok I'm obsessed with the way rauru's ear twitches LOLL THAT'S SO RANDOM but in the memories it's just so satisfying to see

hm idk how to explain this but there's some aspects of this game that feel very aoc to me and it annoys me. like, the defend kara kara bazaar + gerudo village quests, and that one thing in hateno with the stupid pumpkins, idk but it totally threw me off guard with having to fight with npcs, like it felt very jarring to have in the middle of totk. i never liked aoc or any hyrule warriors games so that's probably why I don't like this very much, but yeah I just didn't enjoy it very much

god I can't describe how much I hate everything abt mineru I'm sorry I just hate her bc like,, bro I hate to say it but I never connected with her character at all. every part of her in the storyline felt forced, and her connection to zelda and the sages never felt authentic. also I hate the eng voice acting like why does she talk like that 😭

her talking about draconification felt sooo forced. she said "there are stories of eating the stone to turn into an immortal dragon" like that could be a solution, then when rauru asked if they could do that, she was like "however 🤓☝️ you'll lose your sense of self and it's forbidden. I thought this would give us an answer but maybe not 😞" like BITCH IF YOU KNEW IT WAS FORBIDDEN WHY WOULD YOU SAY ANYTHING 😭😭 the way she said it, it sounded like she was reading a book and learning this information as they went, which would make sense why she brought it up but turns out it won't work. BUT SHE KNEW THE FULL THING ALREADY WHY DID SHE SAY IT LIKE THAT???? god it annoyed me so much, it was such a bad foreshadowing plot point

and honestly her entire quest confused me, bc the whole first part has a very thunder/lightning theme so I thought her power would be related to that but it wasn't at all? like how come we didn't do anything spirit related meanwhile all the other sages had areas that related to their powers, ugh it felt so dumb. lightning is already heavily associated with riju + the gerudo, so it felt weird that they themed the whole first half of mineru's quest around it too.

I hate her stupid construct. IT'S SO LAME 😭 has anyone actually enjoyed fighting with it. has it actually benefitted anyone. like be so fr rn. I hated it so much that I built a freaking airbike and just flew to the final temple without fighting any of the stuff along the way bc I refuse to be forced to do things I don't like 🫶

and then at the end of the game when her spirit leaves her construct and she dies or whatever, I was just like 😐 they tried to make it emotional but literally mineru is my worst enemy and I was cheering and applauding atp. like I could care less. her character felt, idk how to describe it, like.. cringy and self-inserty? something about it felt very off to me and so I was just never able to like her. it felt like nintendo was trying to force me to like her and I was Not about to let that happen

hang on I have other things to complain about... oh yeah the STABLE TROTTER CONDUCTOR LIKE BRO 😭😭😭 why does he sound like mario, like I actually want to punch him in the face. the rest of the band is fine tho, I like their music 🤞

I think that about covered all my thoughts BUT one more thing. the map is so fucking cluttered. something that was done so well with botw was the openness of everything, it really fit the vibes and it immersed you in the expanse of the game. but the totk map was WAYY too busy 😭😭 not only with the purah pad map (which btw I still think sheikah slate is a better name) but just in general when you're walking around hyrule. there is Too Much going on and I don't like it

LAST THING although tbh this could be a whole separate rant. the way the purah pad is compatible with zonai technology makes no fucking sense???? like there is NO logical explanation for how it can mark waypoints at zonai shrines

in botw it made sense, because the shrines were sheikah-made and so was the slate, so ofc the sheikah would have built them to be compatible and programmable with one another. but the zonai shrines??? first of all they're just rocks on sand. no sort of technology the purah pad can latch onto. second, you activate the shrine with the ZONAI ARM, not the purah pad. literally no connection is made. this is such a small thing to fixate on but every time I think about it I am filled with inexplicable rage

I have a whole OTHER rant on why the sheikah tech disappearing makes literally No Sense but. this post is long enough as it is. if u want I can make a separate post but I think this is good enough for now 🤗

I finished the entire BtB series (and HHU) about a week ago and it hasn't left my mind even once.

I'm not quite sure how to put my thanks into words: You managed to make me feel so obsessed with reading like when I was a kid. I stayed up until 4 am, had to literally force myself to sleep because I was (am!) so incredibly invested. No other piece of literature has done that since like... 6 years? I cried, screamed, laughed, gasped, blushed at so many scenes - the heartache was genuinely so beautiful.

I know the first part of BtB is quite old and your writing has improved a lot since then but all the parts read incredibly seamlessly.

I could *hear* the characters voices in my head while reading, picture the scenes like a movie in my head. The attention to detail and the accuracy of the characters makes me so incredibly happy. Usually when reading, I notice every single distraction going on around me and it's so rare that something pulls me in to the point I just zero in on the story.

There's a lot of scenes that stuck in my mind and to my surprise, I resonated most with your characterisation of Genma. I went in a die-hard Neji fan (and still am) and came out with a deep appreciation for Shikamaru and Genma. (That being said, I also really love then way you portray the other characters, especially Hiashi and Ibiki who I really didn't like before.)

Genma's story just... God it has my heartstrings in a death grip. His never-ending jack-assery and dirty jokes and the way Raido sees right through it.

The fact he held onto items important to him and related to the people he loved most...

The way he handled Shikamaru and Asuma and Kurenai's baby while still insisting he doesn't do well with children.

The way he made Kakashi say what he feels near the end of UtS in an ass-backwards way but a way that didn't allow for deception and empty words.

But, I think the moment that made me sob and laugh and feel the most was when he said "You ruined it" - that fucking killed me right then and there.

When I first met Genma in your story I was really sceptical and suspicious of him, thinking he was somehow the bad guy. And then I grew to love him and hurt for him. That was so extremely well done.

I also have to get off my chest that I love, love, love the way you described his drug trips (and Kakashi's little endeavor with medicines) as well as dreams and flashbacks. I find that these things are mostly feelings and oh so confused and confusing that it's hard to put into words but you genuinely excel at it.

I also love the transitions of dreams back to reality. Keyword here being "back". God, nothing hurt me more than reading that word in HHU. I think you know which scene I mean.

I also read through old asks and found out more about Naoki and Karibi. I love these two so much as well. Karibi struck me as very interesting and I'm glad I got to find out how she lived and died. Especially because HHU kind of alluded to her commiting or attempting suicide.

Naoki... My heart hurts for him. This poor, poor man. I'm so fucking glad he didn't have to die alone. He was so strong for Genma though, building him up, putting him on the right path and giving him a verbal slap for being an addict, giving Kakashi and him his blessings eventhough he used to be so possessive and protective of Genma.

His story really is tragically beautiful and incredibly complex. I really wanted him to live but realistically I knew it wasn't going to happen.

How old were Karibi, Naoki and Genma when they joined Team Yokai? When Inoichi saw Genma and Naoki kiss and Genma talks about his Senbon hitting certain nerves (hehe), they're said to be about 17 and I remember it being mentioned that Naoki took a while to "bottom" in bed due to his childhood trauma.

Also can we talk about the Tsubomi poem? That is so *beautiful*. Did it come easy to you or was it hard to write? It fits so incredibly perfectly to Naoki and Ino.

One thing that confuses me about the storyline is the epilogue of Requiem, where Genma has a flashback(?) about Shuken holding Naoki hostage and making him reveal his name. Could you explain to a confused-maybe-stupid-me when that takes place and how Genma and Naoki escape from that situation?

I can't stop gushing about your story so i won't:

Shuken's character is also so well written. When we first meet him in Shikamarus flashbacks, I was also oddly intrigued eventhough I had an idea about what sort of fucked up things he'd done to Shikamaru. You wrote his seductiveness really well. And then he reveals his age and I got *deeply* disturbed and as we learn more I just got more and more disturbed. The progression was so well done, I felt like I was sort of experiencing what Shikamaru was going through. The use of "Shika" sent cold shivers down my spine.

I also really loved your wheels within wheels and walls within walls metaphor for the ANBU. It creates such an amazing mental image that can be played around with so creatively.

Aaa. Okay. I think I got most of my thoughts down so far. I'm sure I'll come back to gush some more, maybe ask some more.

Correct! They'd have been 17/18 years old at that time. Age 19 is when Naoki tragically accepted Danzo's offer and was listed as KIA after his 'fake death'.

Re: intimacy issues. Right you are. Due to his childhood abuse, Naoki refused to "bottom" for the longest time. It took a hell of a lot for Genma to work through that with him. Karibi helped with this too.

Aww....I'm so touched you felt that way about Naoki's poem for Ino. It's such a tough question to answer. Anything that is deeply personal or painful for the characters always twinges my heartstrings when writing...but for Naoki, his guarded emotions came out in his seldom seen/heard creativity / art, so writing it was easy in the sense that it flowed into my head easily from the character, but it was hard in the sense that it reflected so much of Naoki's pain as well as his love.

Oh my dearest, YOU are in no way the confused-maybe-stupid party in this. In fact, "I" am the idiot who cut a LOT of scenes surrounding Naoki's torture at Shuken's hands and the escape situation *epic facepalm* In hindsight, I would love to go back and edit that by re-writing/editing and INCLUDING those scenes. I can see the holes there from the reader's perspective, and if I hadn't been operating like a runaway train at the time, I'd have slowed down to correct that error.

So, that scene where Genma has the nightmare flashback of Shuken holding Naoki hostage. Let me do a breakdown chronology as it's the easiest way my fucked-up spiderweb mind-map can be translated into a linear sequence....

Naoki gets stabby-happy with Shuken (plunges that needle into his neck) and fucks up his ROOT mission, but prioritises saving Shikamaru

Naoki needs Genma to "buy him time" while he tries to fix the trauma and everything coming undone in Shikamaru's head

So Genma goes happy-hunting on the Freak Show as Naoki deep dives into Shikamaru's brainpan

(DELETED SCENE) Naoki stablisies Shuken so the natural energy doesn't kill him. Then Naoki deep-dives into Shikamaru's brainpan and meets with some complications because of the natural energy swimming around inside him.

(cont. DELETED SCENE) Naoki tries to stabilise Shikamaru too, but gets interrupted mid-brain-and-body-fix by more Freak Show cross-breeds looking for bossman Shuken. Naoki can't complete what he's doing with Shikamaru and needs more time. He hides Shikamaru and takes out the opponents interrupting him before rushing to assist Genma

He assists Genma lol -- ends up getting injured (takes a nasty blow to his hip, if I recall)

He tells Genma he needs more time with Shikamaru to fix the kid

Genma is too busy freaking out about Naoki stabbing his mark/Shuken in the neck and the consequences of this action

They get interrupted by more Freak Show mutants, which sabotages Naoki's plan to regroup with Shikamaru and use the Nagu blood vial to get them the hell out

Naoki opts to stay behind to distract the Freak Show and give Genma time to get Shikamaru out, so he kisses Genma in a heated moment to shut him up and save time by connecting their minds where he " communicated in seconds what would've taken minutes to put into words; why Tenka had killed those children; where he'd hidden Shikamaru; what he'd tried to do to fix him; the secret route he planned to use to get them out; and lastly, what he was asking Genma to do – no, ordering him to do." -UtS

He tells Genma to get Shikamaru out, basically, even though he hasn't finished 'fixing' the kid. Naoki gets caught (DELETED SCENE)

Genma does as he's ordered, only he can't bring himself to leave Naoki behind again so after crossing through the portal so Shuken can't reach the kid, he hides and secures Shikamaru (DELETED SCENE) and returns to go and help Naoki, letting himself get caught in the process

Naoki in the meantime has been at Shuken's mercy (or lack thereof) and is receiving a traitor's punishment (DELETED SCENE) -- it is at this point that Genma's flashback dream comes into play where Shuken is starting to shown signs of transmogrification due to the natural energy in his system (think Sound Four on steroids) and wants to know Genma's name and where he stashed Shikamaru

(LONG DELETED SCENE) Meanwhile, Kurayami is borne in Shikamaru's consciousness and THAT is the person that wakes up when Shikamaru finally comes to. He secures himself some Nagu blood, re-enters the portal and goes on the hunt for Shuken

(HUGE DELETED SCENE - hinted at in Genma's memories when he's talking to Tsunade) Shikamaru/Kurayami finds Shuken. He goes for Shuken like a heat-seeking missile, taking out mutants as he goes, unintentionally freeing Genma in the process, his shadows bringing chaos. He does damage. A lot of it. But in the last minute Naoki comes between Shuken and Shikamaru and gets Shuken's knife in the back. Shuken is out for the count after that. Naoki, knife in back, prioritises clamping his hands to Shikamaru's head, trying to shut down Kurayami and lock the alter away, as the whole building is coming down.

This was Naoki's last bid effort to try to save Shikamaru's mind by sealing off all the alters, knowing he didn't have time to integrate them.

Shocked Genma snaps into Kaika mode and gets his shit together, scooping up unconscious Shikamaru and running like a mo-fo with Naoki in tow

Naoki can't run any further, he falls and is bleeding out, tells Genma to run one last time and get the kid to safety, reminding him that Shikamaru can't be allowed to remember etc. Makes Genma swear an oath to him.

Though it costs him his heart, Genma does as he's told one final time. And it's too late to go back again after getting Shikamaru to safety at last. He believes Naoki is dead.

Phew! Sorry for that LONG list. I hope it clarifies for you those missing/deleted scenes, sweetie? Sorry again for any confusion. I own that as a big mistake on my part; sadly at the time, the mammoth wordcount and my runaway brain steamrolled ahead. In hindsight, I'd absolutely fix those gaps upon revision.

i've been thinking about this ask since yesterday. it's such an open-hearted message, so i will reply in kind, and tell you that the reason for which civilian jay and the general trope of him relearning how to live is very dear to me for basically the same one as yours.

interrupting my regular jayposting to go on a personal tangent (or a literature survey. or both.) but, around a year ago i came across this review of solnit's "orwell's roses," which contained this fragment (apologies if you have already seen it and to everyone else who did; i quote it all the time):

It strikes me, in this context, that one measure of maturity might be attaining an awareness that there can be no genuine devotion to fighting the forces that unworld the world without genuine devotion to the littlest manifestations of beauty that make this planet a world and this existence a life.

i'm not a part of any bigger effort to change the world, but then also didion's speech comes to mind:

I’m not telling you to make the world better, because I don’t think that progress is necessarily part of the package. I’m just telling you to live in it. Not just to endure it, not just to suffer it, not just to pass through it, but to live in it. To look at it. To try to get the picture. To live recklessly. To take chances. Highlights of my ZeroZeroZero Reactions

So over my break, I got to watch all 8 episodes of 000 quite a lot and it's definitely becoming my new obsession. I thought I could take a minute to go over my highlights that I can remember from watching every episode, including when I got drunk on New Year's Eve/Day and watched most of the series.

Disclaimer: I only watch the scenes that feature Chris Lynwood (because he's hot) or the Lynwood family, so my views of the show are valid, but incomplete.

Regular Watches

Episode 1: So I watched this with my mother once because she likes watching Dane with me and she HATED it. I however, loved it.

Edward gives me a very strange feeling and I felt very wary of him in this episode, I couldn't really pinpoint my opinions about him beyond that.

As someone who has gone to my local casino many times when I was younger and bet like... 5 dollars on horses, it's SUPER cool to see that in a show! I know exactly how Edward and Chris felt, but I usually made my own bets and never bet on the same horse as my parents unless it was the main favorite to win.

I love the use of Chris's hearing aid and his ability to lip read. SO cool.

CHRIS SMOKING WEED IN THE CHAIR WITH HIS BOXERS ON SHOWING OFF HIS LEGS HAD ME DEAD. I actually took SO many pictures of that moment-

Chris and Emma are the sweetest siblings and I know it's an opinion, but I think people who say they have no chemistry are DEAD wrong. I love Emma pranking Chris with his hearing aid, that moment is probably my favorite in the entire series and they deserved more happy moments together.

What Emma says to Edward in the car is exactly how I feel, and it starts the terrible chain of lies Emma gets involved with about Chris being with the shipment. This scene made me solidify my more negative feelings towards Edward. His death caught me completely off guard.

Episode 2:

The 5 seconds that they show ladybugs resting in flowers makes me laugh every time.

Y'all, Emma Lynwood gets VERY comfortable laying with corpses in this show. It's crazy. I love that they both lay there and talk though, it's a very bittersweet moment. Especially Chris putting on the watch, that always makes me tear up.

So does his funeral speech, I cry every time. That speech is so depressing but it really makes me think and tune in to my own emotions as well.

Stefano hitting Emma actually makes me scream. I hate that Italian bitch so much you all have no idea.

Emma turning the tables on him made me clap the first time I watched, I love that scene in Da Mimmo's.

I WANT MORE SCENES OF CHRIS GARDENING

Chris's music taste is... interesting, and his clothing taste is immaculate. I love his outfits.

Episode 3:

I only watched this once, a long time ago, so I'm going to skip this one for now.

Episode 4:

Chris looks so hot in that vest I'm DYING

It's interesting to me to see that angry side of Chris because 4 was actually the last episode I ever watched- it was fascinating to see how he was slowly losing control and how his disease kinda started making decisions for him.

The poolside scene makes me smile every time and I can now fully quote Emma quoting Edward-

But it also makes me cry because of Mother Lynwood and how relatable the experience the kids had was. Knowing it might be the last time you ever see a beloved relative.

....... I actually couldn't speak after Chris slapped Emma, I was angry for the entire day after that argument. I'm okay now, but still mildly angry at both of them, Emma for lying and Chris for slapping her.

Episode 5:

God this episode was LONG.

LIZARD, THERE WAS A LIZARD

Chris definitely uses his hearing aid to his advantage and I know he used to take it out all the time if he got tired of listening to Emma or Edward.

It's so sad hearing Chris talk about not wanting to have kids and it really made me think about how many people have to think the same things to themselves, not wanting their kids to suffer or see them suffer.

Poor Omar, man.

Episode 6: Barely any Lynwood scenes, so I'm skipping again.

Episode 1:

...... I called Edward a pussy-

I also called him a horse boy because there's so many horse things in his room.

I kept staring at Chris in boxers and bad jokes ensued.

I laughed extra hard at my favorite scene between Chris and Emma

I found some symbolism in Emma's outfits because of course I did.

I watched the last scene between Emma and Edward and I had completely forgot about it so it was just me going "Yes, Emma!" for 3 minutes-

Episode 4:

I watched Chris in his vest and ranted about how many freckles he has.

I had to watch Chris asking for weed because of course I did.

I pretended to be Edward when Emma was quoting him and I cried again during the poolside scene

That is all-

Episode 7:

This was my best one because I watched the most scenes from it.

I called Chris a stalker for watching Amina through the window-

I corrected Emma's pronunciation of "Thanksgiving"

THE EMPHASIS IS ON THE "GIVING"

Chris's man bun had all my attention that night

Emma still scares me, but drunk, she terrified me in her dress

"Oh my God IS THAT GUY NEXT TO HER ON THE COUCH STEFANO- oh, nevermind."

I danced in my livingroom as Chris and Amina danced and I had so much fun

I criticized Chris's choice of footwear AGAIN

I took a 5 minute break to eat 2 spoonfuls of pomegranates because yeah I drank coffee and had pomegranates as a 1 am snack.

Then I watched Chris and Amina kiss and went to bed shortly after-

Definitely. There is more than enough laughs to make it worth at least one go thru.

HAHAHA. FUCK NO. It's the remake of the remake of guess who basically. 'Guess Who 3: Guess Who-ier?' Just with more current day black culture.

I just want to say 3 things I knew instantly (INSTANTLY) upon watching the movie:

3-It had to be written by a white guy, probably jewish, who was kinda entitled (jonah hill*) and a black person who wanted as much blackness in a movie, without questioning which parts to highlight and which to edit. Just throw it ALL on (kenya barris).

2-Jonah did NOT feel right for the part, and I assumed he paid for it (he did. And wrote it). That is kinda how hollywood started doing it in the 2000s-if you can't star in something, make enough money (or take from your family) to pay for it so you can star in it cuz you own the movie.

1-the director was new, or directing was not their primary thing. The camera work was choppy, at best, editing was sloppy and fantastical (when it was not needed. Only took away from the flow of the movie), and the angles were....just do NOT give kenya barris a fucking camera ever fucking again. Let him write.

So I'm gonna keep this simple:

Cons. -1/5 of the jokes do not work. Either already dated (or soon to be dated) pop culture references, been done before (who had it worse from slavery?), or just bad slap stick (who moves a candle and doesn't put it out? That's just fucking dumb!)

-Jonah hill didn't fit. He's like...the only bad casting decision. Everyone else worked fabulously. side note-him playing 35? HAHAHAHA!

-The camera work. It's so fucking bad for a major hollywood movie. And the 'cool' segue ways just ate up time and budget, let alone, again, messed with the flow. DO NOT FUCK WITH THE FLOW!

Pros: -3/5 of the jokes DO work. (1/5 is dick/child like jokes. That's if you like that stuff). I was laughing far more than I wasn't.

-Eddie was intimidating. I can't name too many movies where eddie made me think he could kill a man, but this movie he was the scary dad in law perfectly.

-Even tho I usually bitch about this, it was predictable. This was a ROM COM. Not a com. I WANTED, nay, NEEDED my happy ending, and got it.

I just felt like they could have had way more scenes between the characters instead of these set ups. Like, why did jonah never meet his fiance's friends? Or her his BEST friend who was a black woman? That would have been interesting as fuck. And we never really dive deep, at all, into jonah's dad or the fiance's mom. Gloss right over them. They could have added to instead of be one trick ponies.

I just felt like they added too much in the wrong places (the longest most boring drake joke of all time is in this movie. You will grind your teeth), and didn't add in the right places (more inter-character development).

you people: 6.8/10.

ps-Best part? Fuck that. Worst part? Jonah being a poser for most of this film, YET, his fiance said she fell in love with him for being real. So...he's real with you, fake with your dad? Best part in PLAY with that worst part? The basketball scene. I ain't gonna tell you; it's worth it. One of the few times my expectations were reverted.

*why does jonah hill have a fucking obsession with hollywood? He like hits every fucking place he can, names and all in the background. Is he secretly working for their tourist industry?
