Febuwhump Prompt Day 2: Flinching

At this point, Noah wasn’t sure how long Thornton had been working but he knew he didn’t have much in him for today.  He honestly wasn’t sure how much he had in him to hold out against her and her everchanging tactics.  

He couldn’t contain the flinch the moment he felt the prongs of the taser on his shoulder blade.  The cold steel and the building anticipation of the jolt of electricity left him taking small, shallow breaths.  She hadn’t pressed the button yet.  Yet.  

As if she was reading his mind, “I can feel you slipping Noah.  How much longer are you going to hold onto that information?  Do you think if I let you go right now the Insurgents would take you back in?  Or do you think they would put you through the wringer for divulging information?”

He let out a shaky breath, “I haven’t told you anything.  Never will.”

That was the moment she was waiting for. 

His muscles spasmed, stealing what little breath he had left, leaving him panting for air as soon as the electricity stopped flowing.  The energy for witty or defiant remarks was quickly diminishing.

“How much can you take Noah?”

Great question.  He didn’t answer.  

Thornton lightly dragged the taser across the skin of his back, he couldn’t contain his bodies response.  He flinched, betraying the untouchable facade he so desperately wanted to maintain.

btw Still thinking about the moment where Tula first realizes she's literally, mechanically unable to keep up with / catch Jaysohn when he bolts and runs his full speed. That revelation that she's not fast enough to stop him, or get alongside him, much less get in front of him to protect him if he needed it. The dread terror of it. :(
