unsurprisingly, i will not be supporting taeil or anyone who remains close with him going forward. if there is an attempt to make this about fanwars or similar, i will also disengage. all this is about is the victim and their safety. to make it about anything else is disingenuous, callous, and cruel. morality comes over any kind of gotcha, and to use suffering to justify prior opinions or uplift others will not be tolerated here.
#i'm not even really surprised or disappointed i'm just angry. i've been seeing all the news from feminists doing their best to translate and#spread ongoings and the way men with platforms (i.e. youtubers) threaten their lives for it. so i hope for the victim's peace and safety and#that one day south korean women will be safe in their homes

Can't believe that Craig Tucker the guy that has been characterized by fanfics back in the ol days as an abusive bad boy is actually a far more better boyfriend than Stan in canon.
the fact that it's heavily implied in phone destroyer that he usually immediately replies to Tweek's texts makes me awe and makes me sooooo happy.
Stan should have went to Craig instead of Clyde smh.

that one line about ramy's bangla being rudimentary made me absolutely sob (i'm bengali) and i wanna talk about why
there's so much to it both contextually with ramy's character as well as historically. contextually because ramy is fluent in 6 languages, an insane number of languages for one person but none of which are his mother tongue. he's described as a performer, one who knows he can't blend in so instead he stands out as a means to escape as much of the racism as he can. he gets lost in it that he almost forgets who he is; this is reflected in his language ability too – he gets so lost in his linguistic academics he just barely remembers the native language of his home place that he adores.
and honestly, you can't even really blame ramy for it at all when it was induced. it's the british who saw urdu, arabic and persian as more valuable than bangla, it's the british that make ramy put on this act so he can literally stay alive. and when you know the historical relevancies between urdu and bangla, it hurts so much that ramy was forced to forget bangla
very brief history context: after the partition, where british india was split into india, pakistan and east pakistan (now bangladesh) bangla was seen as inferior to urdu due to its hindu connections. bengalis experienced so much shit because of this (and bengali muslims are still dealing with the internalised cultural racism today honestly). pakistanis tried to make the official language urdu, even though literally everyone in east pakistan were bengali and spoke bangla, so bengalis fought back against it. we still celebrate that day today (feb 21)
so to have ramy be in this position in the 1830s where urdu was seen as superior to bangla, especially when ramy is a bengali muslim, is just extremely accurate?? and maybe it's bc we don't have much western literature where we talk about this but it's just so nice to have it acknowledged
the bangla language movement didn't happen until around the 1950s, over a century after babel's timeline, but the seeds are always there. while i do think it comes with both this islamic superiority tendency a lot of asians have (arabs i'm looking at you) and britian's imperialistic racism, i just love how it all makes sense
#babel rf kuang#ramiz rafi mirza#i'm still learning a lot abt my own culture so don't ask me for a lot of information about this lol#yk when i found out ramy was bengali it set my world off its course and i knew i had to read this book even if no bangla was discussed#i knew i was gonna get attached to him and I DID!#he just means so much to me and while he made me sob multiple times i love what kuang did with his character#also if youre pakistani lol don't try to defend yourself#you don't get to after pakistanis massacred so many bengalis during the bangladesh liberation war#babel an arcane history#babel or the necessity of violence#also i love seeing south asian characters become fandom favourites i know most babel lovers love ramy IKTRRR

I hc that Cartman once tried hiring a skywriter to write a bunch of slurs over Kyle's house, but he accidentally chose a guy who does it solely for proposals. All the South Park boys ended up spending the entire afternoon in Kyle's front yard trying to figure out why the words "MARRY ME F*****" were floating in the sky above his house.
#south park#south park headcanons#south park hcs#eric cartman#kyle broflovski#headcanon#this is definitely not something i came up with while schemeing my own revenge#hopefully I can still make this joke even though I'm not gay lol

The funny thing is I do agree with Bruce fans who say Batman's become such a big cultural character that he gets written badly more often as a result. Like at this point he's more of an icon than a character who can be analysed by a single run or issue or storyline. He's been around for so many decades he's constantly reflecting the American political landscape. Unfortunately since America in general is an evil country with an overall terrible cultural mindset, this reflects in almost every iteration of Batman. The fan myth of the compassionate billionaire who fights primarily due to belief in rehabilitation is a nice concept but what we actually get on paper and on TV and in the cinemas is 7 different versions of the ideal patriarchal hero of American capitalism, complete with all the toxicity and violence and copaganda and abuse that it entails, and deliberate underwriting of any character who could challenge that narrative. And then there's usually one decent run going on at the same time where they just focus on some of the more redeemable aspects of Bruce's character concept. Everyone flocks to it and goes this is my Batman! And gets mad if you acknowledge the larger more consistent and prevalent characterisation of him and how it consistently drags down other characters in his orbit.
#dc#dc rambles#Anti Bruce Wayne#Don't hate the guy at all I'm a batfam blog but I can acknowledge reality#A lot of people want their faves to be better characters than they usually are#Bruce is far from the worst example of this I mean just look what fandom did to South Park characters or mouthwashing#If you're white and male they'll twist you into whatsoever shape gives them comfort even if it's polar opposite to reality

When Ekko released in 2015 it was so awesome, he had a great voice actor (at least in Brazil his voice is really well known), he had a cool design, fun powers and an amazing backstory. He was a black kid from a poor upbringing who, despite the environment he grew up in, learnt to create incredible things basically out of scrap. He was a genuine hero in a land where most of the characters were bad people or chaotic monsters, he fought for what was right and tried his best to save the people he loved.
Over the years he became the face of resistance in Zaun, every story was about him fighting for the people, every voice line with other champions showed how much people admired him. Fuck, I know it's probably not canon but Azir of all people treats him well in their interactions, that's how cool he is. So it bothers me a little that the freedom fighter/symbol of resistance in Zaun role is being shifted to Jinx in the show.
She, and the Inx (her blue haired followers), are literal antagonists in his game, he has to fight them because all they care about is chaos. I understand though what they are building up to in Arcane and it is very well written, but it makes me a bit sad. Especially because of how I see most of the fandom treat Ekko, most talk about him has to do with Jinx and fair, I guess, Arcane barely gives him solo screen time. But y'know, I wish after this they give him another game or a comic book, Idk. I really don't want Ekko to just become a background character on someone else's narrative.
#bit of a venting/rambling post please don't take this too seriously#I really do think Jinx is incredibly well written in this show much more than she ever was in the game#but I'm disappointed that it comes at fhe expense of characters like Ekko and Zeri having their roles in Zaun taken#Ekko a black kid and Zeri a south asian kid being revolutionaries meant so much more even if their lore underdeveloped in relation to Arcane#what I'm left to hoping is that at least they'll make a cool spin off about my boy#ekko#ekko lol#arcane#league of legends

Guys, if we make Tim South East Asian, we can have all the boy Robins be Brown. Dick's Romani, a large amount of people Hc Jason as Latino, and Damian is Arab. I'm pretty sure the current Tim hc race is half Korean, but like... I can see Tim being half Singaporean, or Indonesian. It would also be really funny because it would make Damian and Tim look really similar and just imagine a random white lady walking up to the both of them and going "Oh! is this your brother?" and Damian going "No! I'm not related to Drake!" and it happens seven times and ends in Damian begrudgingly saying, "Yes, though he is adopted"
#tim drake#dick grayson#jason todd#damian wayne#romani dick grayson#latino jason todd#arab damian wayne#chinese damian wayne#south east asian tim drake#I can not tell you how many times I've told a random yt person that one of my friend is my cousin even though we weren't related#yt people don't understand that not all brown people are related#at a gala all the waynes standing together#random yt lady who can't tell there are different flavors of Brown#“oh! there you are! my friends and I have been waiting on our wine! while you four continue to just stand here”#they give each other 'the look' TM#Dick I've been adopted for 20 years Grayson#Jason I came back to life and was a big deal Todd#Tim I'm a 16 yr old CEO and have been running these circles since birth Drake#Damian I'm the blood son Wayne#then Bruce comes over and is like 'ah! so you've met my sons!"

Jim Kirk: Are we allowed to draft Doctor McCoy back into the service for this mission? I feel his expertise will be invaluable.
Admiral Nogura: Well...technically, according to one particular regulation, yes.
Jim (batting his eyelashes): Will you do it?
Nogura: Do I have to be there when he arrives?
Jim: ....no.
Nogura: ...can I watch it on camera from a safe distance?
Jim: Sure.
Nogura: Then yes.

About the accents: if someone has a very "proper" Italian they are either foreigners or politicians/dignitaries/etc. So that fits perfectly for Machete, but I think it would be so funny if he sometimes slipped up and used a Nepalese word bc he forgot one in "proper" Italian lol
(Funny to me cause Naples has its own language in addition to accent, and most people don't actually know those words)
.
#ah that's good to hear!#glad it fits him#there's no way he gets it perfect every time#especially in the absence of widely used standardized Italian in the original canon era#there's bound to be a mix up every now and then#I don't know how likely it would be that he absorbed much Venetian at the time he lived there#I remember reading that lectures in medieval and early premodern universities were held in Latin but I could be wrong#even though his original native language is Sicilian I think he has probably lost a lot if not most of it due to lack of use#but it would be kind of funny if the Neapolitan and/or Sicilian influences resurfaced occasionally in private casual conversations#and Vasco who to my knowledge has never been to the south would be left guessing what he was even trying to say#I'm taking the easy way out and lowering their language barriers a bit out of convenience bear with me#I'm not competent enough to deal with all the different languages and dialects and the communication issues that would come with them#answered#anonymous#sorry to point out an obvious typo but I think you must've gotten Neapolitan/Napolese autocorrected to Nepalese by accident or something#unless Machete has secret ties to Nepali that I'm not aware of#which would be quite a twist
