If you're only commenting on a fic to ask for an update or worse, to be passive-aggressive about wanting an update, then please do both yourself and the writer a favor and don't comment at all.

Saying things like "Can't wait for the next update!" as part of a comment about how you enjoyed the chapter is one thing, but just going into the comments and being like "Where's the update?" or "You haven't finished writing the next chapter yet?" or something similar is not only rude, but also I ASSURE you it only serves to make the writer anxious about writing at all.

Fic writers are not content creators. We're not robots. We're real people with careers, families, and other irl responsibilities. Writing is something I do in my thirty minutes before I go to bed to wind down from the day. Whatever I want to write that evening is what ends up getting written.

So by making me anxious and putting pressure on me to update a fic, especially in that passive-aggressive way that so many people do, all you've ensured is that when I open up my folder that evening to see what I feel like writing, my eyes will completely skip over that WIP that I got the rude comment on that day because I Feel Bad about it and now I don't want to even look at it.

So please, just follow the golden rule of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Varian says before he could even think, "I-I can ask Rapunzel to give you your own quarters in the castle grounds?" he continues trying not to sound nervous as he fidgets with his fingers "And we can share my lab too! Or if you prefer somewhere less boujee, you can stay at my place. I'll ask my dad to have you your own room? If you want that is."

Hugo processes everything he just said. It honestly almost felt like a dream as soon as his words click to him. "That ... sounds really nice, goggles." he says softly, a genuine smile crossing his face. It's all he could ever ask for really.

"If you agree, I promise I'll make sure you have a home to go to." Varian insists with as much care as his voice could express, sounding more sure of himself, that this is what he wants— because it is, more than anything right now.

"I already have one though." says the blonde in return.

The other alchemist blinks inquisitively, it's adorable every time he makes a curious face. Hugo couldn't help but let a fit of giggles escape him, "A home. I already have one."

"Where?"

Hugo's smile grew wider

"He's standing right in front of me. And wherever he goes, I go."

i do think the "dark age of the law" thing in dual destinies was perhaps the stupidest thing imaginable. why's everyone suddenly freaking out about corruption in the courtroom. do you think manfred von karma got that forty-year win streak out of nowhere. do you think miles edgeworth got HIS win streak out of nowhere. do you think damon gant's control over Fucking Everything came out of nowhere. do you think furio tigre's ability to masquerade as a defense attorney and nobody saying a damn thing about it came out of nowhere. do you think franziska von karma holding up a photograph and being like "i know this picture is illegal but what are you gonna do? Unsee it? <3" came out of nowhere. The three-day "guilty until proven innocent" trial system. The sheer sway prosecutors held over the entirety of the court, up to and including shit like being able to assault the judge and opposing defense attorney with zero consequences + tailoring witness testimony to suit their case and threatening said witnesses if they said anything too revealing. Hello. Can anyone hear me. I'm going nuts
