thinking about Lawrence and Benitez's relationship after the events of the film. Both viewing the other as better suited for the papacy than themselves. Vincent leaning on Thomas during his rapid ascention to head of the church, grounding him through the chaos. Thomas leaning on Vincent as he continues in his responsibilites, a light in the madness of diplomacy he must navigate. Vincent restores Thomas' faith in God, but Thomas restores Vincent's faith in himself.

They will die within days of one another.

anyway it sure ain't me, so I made myself a baby Malleus! I used the single-headed version of Choly Knight's hydra pattern (link will be in replies ↓↓↓) as a base, and just messed with some of the pieces to make him more Mall-y. including sewing all those little claw pieces, then pinning them on and realizing I actually liked him better without them...oh well. to heck with accuracy, I want stubby little dragon legs!

unfortunately, he doesn't photograph very well, especially his forehead scales (they're there! I promise!) (they're made of glitter HTV so they are actually SPARKLY in real life, yet apparently they come out completely invisible in photos, woe). but he is super cuddly and soft so I'm happy with him! just as in canon, he is a product of LOVE. :>

So I'm fully in a Transformers Prime binge rewatch and holy SMOKES I did not remember how gay this show was. Like obviously Starscream is twinktown central and Knockout is very flamboyant, yes--but Megatron is so obsessed with Optimus (and vice versa) it's not even funny! Here's a compilation of the best moments from *just the first half of S1*:

Megatron returns after who knows how long and one of the first things out of his mouth is "No one rids me of Optimus Prime except me!!"

Megatron "dies" and Optimus is immediately depressed to the point where Ratchet asks about it and unlocks Sad Reminiscing

The Autobots are trying to figure out what the Decepticons are up to and Optimus starts with "Starscream is no Megatron, but--" just say you miss him

Megatron is literally comatose and his coma dream is him and Optimus fighting over and over again. Optimus just keeps respawning. Bro is LITERALLY living in his head rent free

In fact when Bumblebee gets inside Megatron's head Optimus is literally the First Thing he sees

Why is Bee in there? Because Optimus is deathly sick! And one of the only things that rouses Optimus from his nearly catatonic state? Learning Megatron is alive!

Megatron is also the only one who has the knowledge to save him so now they're both on their deathbeds together and their fates are linked etc. etc.

Bumblebee gets the info he needs by telling Megatron that if he doesn't give them the cure, Optimus will die (and Megatron will therefore not get to kill him)

Megatron (who had figured out this was all about Optimus before Bee even told him): "After our deep history together, to NOT watch the spark ebb from his eyes with my very own...well played, Scout." And then he gives him the cure

Starscream is about to kill Optimus and Megatron--as the FIRST thing he does after getting out of his coma--literally knocks him out of the sky, saves Optimus's life (priorities), and completely lets Optimus go. Which brings the Deliberately Saving Optimus's Life count up to 2!

Will add on as the show continues, but this is just like. 14 episodes in. At this point, forget allegations, they've been fully tried and convicted lol

so I saw one interesting comic about a podcast and accidentally have been binging it for nearly a week straight, it had me thinking of nothing else within 30 seconds of episode 1, Love this poor sad dishrag of a man and his poetry loving passenger <3

yk as much as i hate desmond's death. and i mean it, i HATE desmond's death (bc it's an art-defying soulless rushed corporate decision intended to keep churning out content rather than complete the story the original creator intended)

i do quite like how they completely switch up on the tropes of the heroic sacrifice. they don't make it out to be some grand greater good thing where desmond is revered. it's undeniably heroic but it's also horribly sad and empty. the imagery of his broken hidden blade on the ground as abstergo drag away his body bag. the voice notes where you realise this was just a troubled young man, anxious and trying to work things out but never given the chance (twenty five is so very young). it's different from the usual romanticisation of sacrifice and i guess i quite like that aspect of it, it doesnt make you feel warm and satisfied bc the hero saved the day, it just... makes you so sad for him

not to give ubisoft too much credit though. he was doomed by the narrative but bc the narrative was stupid...

As much as I bully and joke about Achilles, I understand why he grieved Patroclus the way he did in the Iliad

He expected himself to be the one to not make it out of the war. Unlike Patroclus, Achilles never expected Patroclus to die the way he did. He himself was the one who was prophesized to die in the Trojan war, after all. Never in his 9 years in Troy he considered Patroclus dying before him - even planning to have him raise Neoptolemus on his behalf after all this fighting is done.

Patroclus was also probably the first person he was very close to that he lost. Sure, he lost a lot of men, but how many of them were close to him as Patroclus - his friend/family/partner/companion (interpret them as you will) - who made him cry so hard that he shook the earth and had his mother and aunts heard him from the depths of the ocean. The man whose death drove him into a suicidal breakdown.

His own doing caused Patroclus' death and fall into a rage and killed Hector in a disgraceful manner (he didn't deserve that as he was only trying to protect his home and family).

He loved him so much that he wished to have their ashes mixed. He loved him so much that he cried on his tomb almost every day. He loved him but not enough to set his pride aside.
