My boyfriend was watching Ippo, and I had to stop what I was doing and watch too. I got started during the Date vs Ippo fight and was immediately hooked. Well, what does being back feel like?

I've been into SCP back in 2017 when it was thriving, now it has been 7 years since then and I am aware that communities change, not always for the better. I feel nostalgic looking at what was and wish that it would come back even though it's impossible. I am sure many feel the same, looking at the blogs which have been inactive for 2-6 years.

What happened to SCP fandom feels disheartening to me. The site has always been a creative playground with a setting that let people run rampant with ideas, but nowadays this unfortunately has turned into a case of using this freedom for grounds of power gaming. Rather than appreciate the variety of things an SCP could be which was never limited to object, human or animal, many have decided to create as powerful of a Apollyon as they could to pit it into the fight against 001, 073 or 076.

We had SO many creative things in here. We had toasters that made you think you're a toaster, rings which toughened you up for cost of feeling sleepy and fatigued, indestructible lizards, building bears, encyclopedias that gave you diseases, actual viruses, doors to other dimensions, devices that couldn't be explained by engineers, phenomenon and places that were engraved in our minds... why waste such potential? ://

For those who don't know, I am a roleplayer since 2019. It's my hobby which started back on amino, though nowadays I roleplay on discord server. And allow me to tell you that a lot of "SCP" servers have become 1% SCP and 99% multifandom 💀. I don't have anything against multifandom RPs, neither do I have a thing against crossovers, however when an SCP themed server has more multifandom stuff than it does SCP stuff, then my brother that's not an SCP server no more.

I overall dislike that people take SCP's freedom and use it against it. The old fandom feels scarce nowadays. I am genuinely glad that I've experienced this fandom at the time I did, I am also grateful for the people who still come back to it and to youtubers like volgun who don't cease to love it and introduce it to new generations, carrying its legacy. And I'm glad whenever I see people who create genuinely creative SCP OCs.

I guess this rant can be summed up to me disliking SCP "God OCs" and being salty that roblox SCP games are more SCP themed than discord SCP servers lmao

Eitherway I do know there are old school enjoyers out here and I see and appreciate you. I do hope I can make or maybe join an actual SCP discord server in the future because I genuinely crave roleplaying as 035 and roleplaying is like water for me. I drink it, breathe it, love it /J

Popular girl x Tsundere girl (i’d play the tsundere)- where your oc is a popular and talented girl, and my oc is jealous of her- but later comes to realize her jealousy is borne from a crush on your oc. 

Shy girl x Outing girl (i’d play the outgoing one)- where your oc is shy and reserved, and my oc, who is peppy and outgoing, reaches out to befriend her. With time, feelings start to develop between them. 

Goth girl x girly girl (i’d play the girly girl)- an unlikely duo of two very different girls- what brought them together is up to us! Maybe they’re neighbors, maybe they’re assigned to the same group project, anything works for me! I was thinking at first they dont get along, but they grow closer over time. 

Childhood best friends- where our ocs are best friends from childhood, and somewhere along the way, one has developed feelings for the other. 

Academic rivals- where our ocs are the two smartest girls in school, always competing for the best marks in all their classes. 

I also have a really spicy one where our ocs both have crushes on other people, but can't be with them, so our ocs agree to date to sort of ‘fill the void’ and try to move on. 

I also have some miscellaneous ideas and tropes, which we can incorporate into any of the ideas listed above, or we can make into their own thing! Some ideas are; 

Our ocs are the leads in a school play 

Our ocs are in the same after school cub (book club, art club, school council, etc) 

Secret relationship (either from their families or from the school) 

Some kind of soulmate au (i personally love the ‘soulmates name written on your wrist’ but i’m open to any)

Please tell me you think there's a word thing happening with the turnip and the inkwell because I can't make it make sense.

Hi there. 💕 Hope you're having a great week so far. I'm making spaghetti tonight, if you would like some. With fresh basil from my herb garden. 😊 I have some ideas on it below. I believe there are word things happening, yes.

The turnip and the inkwell has two levels of meaning, imo. It first comes up when Aziraphale is roleplaying his magic act for Crowley, who is standing in for the audience, which is all a bit meta. On this level, it's a metaphor for the creative process. How so? Well...

Turnips are boring as fuck vegetables lol. No one, in the history of the world, has ever craved a turnip and, yet, we'd be sunk without them, especially as they are also grown to feed the animals on which some of us feed. Metaphorically, a turnip is the boring, banal, everyday blahs of life. Common human experiences that link us together but appear uninteresting on the surface until, through some creative magic, a way to bring them to life is uncovered. To turn those turnips into inkwells through a spark of divine magic and then some human labor?

That is to tell a story. It's what making art is.

That is only one of the two metaphors at work in the scene, though.

There is another level of this, which is that the turnip and the inkwell are also a metaphor that Aziraphale came up with when creating his magic act. He created it within the context of the story of Good Omens so it has a whole, other meaning to him and Crowley.

To look at a metaphor meant to be penned by Crowley and/or Aziraphale in the story, we have to come at it from a word history and wordplay direction. To come at the turnip and the inkwell from an etymological standpoint, then, is to start with the turnip-- and that means learning about the history of a word that we use commonly today to describe a heinous act: rape.

Rape is an Old French word that comes from the Latin words rapum and rapa. Best that people can tell, it wasn't until sometime in the 14th century that the word began to mean a sexual violation. Originally, the word rape was the name given to what we now refer to in English as the turnip.

At the time, rape was not just the name for the turnip but also an umbrella name for anything in the category of plants that we now refer to as Brassica rapa-- with the Latin roots still visible in there, as you can see. The turnip is still the most commonly grown plant in that category and the main root vegetable. Also in that category are plants that we now call napa cabbage and bok choy, among a few other, less common ones. Rapeseed oil is derived from plants in this category and was once, like the turnip, referred to just as rape. For a little while in the late 1800s, it was also referred to by a name I'll include here as it feels relevant: bird's rape.

In his magic act, Aziraphale transforms a literal turnip into a literal inkwell because it's metaphoric for what he considers his true skill as a magician-- helping to turn his Brassica rapa'd partner into a well (healthiness; full container; water source) of sexually euphemistic ink.

The turnip and the inkwell is the bits of the Fish meta that discuss Crowley and Aziraphale dealing with Satan's attacks on Crowley and what that all had to with ancient Rome, etc., in a metaphor, basically, and one that Aziraphale made up in the story.

I'm like... slowly watching a Chainsaw Man reaction and getting stoned to deal with a liiitttle PTSD episode I had earlier... and realizing that like.

as a person. who is very touch starved and lonely in my own way. while Denji has like "I wanna touch a boob" which is like funny etc etc... if he was not an animated character whose age was easy to forget, because his everyman protagonist placement makes me accidentally age him up to be closer in age to me... anime is bad for me just fuckin' forgetting that people are high school students. I just mentally adjust people to be 'neutral age' instead of their actual age. Especially if they happen to work in an adult industry surrounded by other adults.

I fully like. though. can understand like. 'man... sometimes I'm curious what that kind of sexual interaction is like. I have kinda given up on being seen as sexually appealing... but I kinda crave that intimacy.' and like. a lot of really toxic relationships have been built on that foundation. and exploring it with Denji is really interesting because like. Denji and Makima are.. a relationship dynamic I've seen played out with the Teacher and Student in a lot of series that aren't supernatural adventure shows. Eating: Just had chicken noodle soup for dinner, sans chicken. I hate the texture of meat

Craving: A couple of books I ordered. Spook, by Mary Roach- I own a very well loved, heavily annotated copy of her book Stiff. The other one is about the London underworld of the Victorian era, though I forget the author. I'm buying it both for historical intrigue and roleplay accuracy.
