Hi again, this is the third question (with several options), sorry. And it's mostly related to the brothers of fire and earth, they had a lot of potential, like the Beifong family.

But I have a lot of ideas for AUs in my head.

1)Dark Avatar Bolin (A bit comical, the Great spirit chaos and darkness is trapped inside a 16 year old earthbender/lavabender) Maybe imagine that Mako and Bolin's ancestor who lived 10,000 years ago merged with Vaatu during a Harmonic Convergence and it was passed down from generation to generation. And released inside Bolin during another Harmonic Convergence (Mako will have heart failure due to stress lol)

2)Avatar!Mako When he gets caught by the White Lotus, he doesn't want to let go of his little brother. He has serious anger issues, the first Avatar who has a relative to take care of.

3) Mako accidentally injures his younger brother

4) Mako and Bolin are adopted by the Beifong family. Either Lin or Su.

1.

actually Bolin as a Dark Avatar would be really interesting. Since we don't really seem to have a framework for what a Dark Avatar is meant to do other than Unalaq, who was still just following his own agenda. Like, how much control would Vaatu have over Bolin's actions. Would he be able to possess Bo when he's, for example in the Avatar State? Or would it be more like:

Though if we're giving Vaatu a more nuanced storyline, I can see him being a more sympathetic character. Where in canon he was portrayed as basically just the evil version of Raava, he could just be seen as a spirit of chaos and change, which spurrs on evolution and development, and of "darker" urges like anger, which are still important to humans in moderation.

I honestly think it would be very interesting to see Bolin containing that type of energy because he's kind of a pushover and is pretty resistant to change.

So seeing him perhaps learn from Vaatu to stand up for himself, express negative emotions, become independent and more self assured would be a very fun arc to follow.

I also wonder how being trapped 24/7 with Bolin's bubbly ass would affect Vaatu I think he'd either go insane or he'd get a redemption arc. I can see Vaatu becoming increasingly attached to Bolin, starting off with a bit of a "we share this body so I'm gonna put you in the Avatar State when you're in danger" type of thing to genuine attachment and caring.

Honestly poor Mako I think he would just have a heart attack at 20 at this rate. Though he would be an interesting Avatar to follow, especially that while he is a kind person, his main concern is keeping himself and Bolin safe. I can also see him bearing a bit of a "why should I save Republic Citu or smth they let me and my bro be homeless" type of inner conflict.

I also really like the idea of Lin being the one to teach him earthbending lol. Lin sees this broody teen avatar and decides she has to protect him lol

Bolin would probably be more hyped about this than Mako lol. He'd be Mako's biggest supporter all the time Mako is just like "oh god how am I gonna fit this into my schedule".

3.

I honestly have thought of this concept before a couple times. I think usually Mako is very careful around Bolin, but I can see a high stress situation making him slip up. In a darker tineline, where they get more involved with the triads, I can see the triad members making the brothers spar and train against each other, which could result in one of them getting hurt. In Republic City Hustle we saw that Mako was more willing to go along with triad shenanigans than Bolin, so I can see him being pushed if there's something on the line. Like they're not allowed ro eat if they don't fight or smth.

Though I think Mako would feel so guilty however he hurt Bolin. Like I already think he has trauma around firebending since his parents were killed by a firebender, so injuring his own brother might give him a nasty case of Jeong Jeong syndrome and selth loathing.

I can totally see Bolin trying to brush it off to not worry Mako, but Mako would still hate himself.

4.

I've kinda thought about the boys getting adopted by Lin and Su. Maybe not in terms of actual adoption but kinda in more of a ward situation.

The concept of Lin arresting Mako and Bolin for some minor crime and realising they have nowhere to go, so she takes them in for a little, just until she finds a family to take them in. But there being two of them, being older and having criminal pasts, they might nor be to easy to get adopted.

So they live with Lin and she ends up getting attached, despite herself.

I think Mako is probably very distrustful of her at first, and thry argue a lot, but grow to trust each other and have a begrudging respect for one another, which later becomes actual affection.

And I feel like the moment little Bolin learns that Lin is a Beifong he would just, like, Grab onto her leg and not let go. Like he immediately is very affectionate and friendly and Lin is just baffled. I think she's mildly annoyed, but also with Bolin being a child, she might have an easier time believeing he's genuine.

Now, the boys being 'adopted' by Suyin would take a bit of narrative managing, since Suyin lives in Zaofu, but if for exame she was in Republic City for business or something and found two kids eating out of a dumpster, I would not put it past Su to go "mine now ☺️" and just fucking take them home and give them motherly love or smth.

With how different Zaofu is from RC, it would be interesting to see the boys adapt to it. And we can have a childhood friends/growing up together weilin Au which is always very nice. Tbh I think they'd hate each other as kids at first.

I csn see Bolin being a little more self assured in this AU, since Suyin seems like a very reassuring person. And if metalbending truly is tied to mindset, I could see Bolin metalbending in this AU.

I think Mako might actually get along better with Baatar Sr. He could just chill in the man's study while Baatar works and that would help him acclimate to the situation lol.

The bending bros being raised in Zaofu alongside Kuvira and the Baby Beifongs is actually a very interesting AU I might have to get back to you on that lol.

His knowledge and familiarity with death lead him to become a mortician. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), during one of his graveyard expeditions, he fell in a hole, and almost died. By chance, there were gems in that hole, and these allowed him to resurrect, but also to mutate.

Mortis became a vampire, well, not A VAMPIRE, but something really close. His body was more adapted to live at night, and he had a small control on the undead, but most importantly, he became immortal. This was probably one of the first cases of gem mutation ever recorded. Because of his mutation, his family started to reject him even more, but he didn't really care, with he newfound powers, he could now understand what it's like to be undead. He could possibly find the key to resurrection.

A few dozen years pass, Mortis lives as a hermit in the graveyard, slowly outliving all of his family members. While he is included in, he's losing all the ones he was close to, and the younger generations are too scared of him to approach him. Because of his loneliness, Mortis lost a lot of his flair, and went on full creepy vampire uncle-mode.

It's during this period that he manages to ressurect his first person, thus creating Frank. I'm not sure if Frank is a Frankenstein monster, or if he's just a regular zombie that happens to mook like it. He wasn't totally successfull though, as Frank can't speak and has difficulty with basic dexterity. It didn't matter to Mortis, for the first time in his life, he had a real friend. In reality, Frank couldn't stand Mortis because he almost treated him like a pet (Frank is limited, but not dumb.).

A little while later he also bonded very closely with his great-great niece (EMZ), she was also a bit of a weird girl (but in a cool way not like Mortis), and though having an undead goth uncle was awesome. As he watched her grow up, he regained his happiness, as well as his pride, completely endorsing his character as a cool dramatic vampire. He also started to treat Frank like a real person, and to really care about him.

Sadly, EMZ passed away very early, Mortis was devastated, and instead of moving on, he tried to resurrect her, and this time, it worked perfectly. Well, not really, while she could think, speak, and move around perfectly, EMZ's body had already started to decompose. She looked like a moving corpse.

This made her life miserable, as her schoolmates were mocking her constantly. She was also terrified of immortality, as she realized she was going to outlive all of her loved ones like her uncle did. EMZ started to resent him for what he did. She became some kind of a bully, she acted like a litteral monster to scare away people.

Mortis couldn't fix his mistake, but with the help of Frank, he managed to make her regain her confidence in herself (idk specifically how though). He promised he wasn't going to resurrect anyone anymore, and that he's gonna be there for her forever no matter what. And so EMZ, similarly to Mortis years ago, completely endorsed her role, becoming the goth emo zombie bad bitch we all know and love today.

Today they're all chill with each other, they all live together at the cemetary. Mortis is still a mortician, he's still dramatic but he calmed down with the necromancy stuff. Frank is an amateur DJ and EMZ is a popular beauty influencer, and she's now inspiring a lot of girls to embrace their differences and to show their true colors to everyone. Frank and EMZ roll their eyes at Mortis' bullshit but they still love him

i'm gonna yap about Morbid Minds once again because i can but I just wanna talk about the themes and what I talk about in the story because it may be interesting idk

writing actual people and real life shit

what i try to keep in mind when writing the story is that I want to tell a realistic story about a bunch of weird teens and I will absolutly not shy away from every details that may be seen as taboo or too much

because i feel like we've seen a way too polished version of story about teens like come on, nobody is perfect let them be actual loser, let them say stupid shit, learn from it and do better, let's them be absolute weirdo and get smacked for it, god have you seen high school dudes, they're like fucking menace and they say weird shit all the time, why not show that

plus it's funnier to write character who will say and do unhinged things, why do fantasy writers get a pass in writing morally gray characters but suddenly it looks weird when you do it in contemporary fiction (yeah, i know it hit closer to home and you have to be more careful with what you write, but let's make story about weird people in modern days too you know)

putting outcast on the spotlight (and the neurodivergent experience)

and then there's the obvious reason why I called the story "morbid minds", the fact that I chose to write about character like Marco who are troubled teen, the kind that you wouldn't want to meet in real life, the kid teacher don't want to deal with because they think he's a lost cause

basically the abused victim nobody care about because they're not reacting the "appropriate" way for a victim, the kind that is actually violent and gets into fight, and I feel like people with bad coping mechanism and with a "difficult" personality are either not represented or demonized for having these emotions and not knowing how to deal with them, how about we gave those people a story that treat them with humanity for once

Marco isn't your typical main character because he's basically a bitch and a weirdo, there's a reason why people think he's a school shooter lol some of you guys would probably call him that too if you went to school with him (because we're all capable of being bullies in some ways) but I feel like this makes it more interesting to follow, I mean, people want flawed characters right ? so here you go, have a weirdo who likes guns and beating up people, who can't communicate or hate himself so much he thinks he's not worth loving, have that guy who stalks girls before getting hit with being bisexual and not knowing how to process that information while dealing with toxic masculinity, i mean you get the gist

also, my story relies a lot on neurodivergent and queer experience for example Marco has ADHD but the most notable one are Tristan and Tyler who are autistics

and again, even if we're getting more autistic rep (finally) we're still a long way from the variety of autism experience, that's why I chose to gave some space for my weird autistic and their weirdass special interest lol Tristan often forget that he exists and has a special interest on school shooting, the movie Elephant and had a huge horror phase (creepypasta, horror movies, gore) like of course he sounds more sane than Marco but that's mostly because he went through shit and had to be the bigger person in his own life or else everything would have fell apart, but he's very much as strange as Marco, he's the one that stayed with him after all

Tyler got the actual offputting autism, the one that makes you stare at people with a straight face, the one where people are scared of you because you never smile (but it's just your normal face) he's pretty blunt in all the wrong ways, doesn't social properly and never say the right thing at the right time, he has no shame when he's with people he trusts and can often break boundaries if no one tell him exactly what he's not supposed to do

and all those experience matter to me as a writer because they're all under represented in media because there's really not a lot of neurodivergent stories lol (and also it matters to me as i am also a weird autistic guy, i'm not pulling all of this out of nowhere, i share a lot of traits with Tristan and Tyler, hell even if Marco is the opposite of me he still react a lot like a part of myself that would probably be more unhinged if I wasn't just Tristan IRL)

related to the first point, talking about sex but not in a weird way

this may sounds weird as fuck but it's actually really not, i'm aware i'm writing a bunch of high schoolers but that's also the thing, if you've been in school then you cannot tell me you've never heard guys talk about sex, where are you from, another planet ? because i've seen shit in middle school when i was in 8th grade, and god this was a lot (guys in my friends group talking about hentai, i mean you know those things)

so that's why it's related to the first point, writing real life without filter, but what does that mean exactly ? well apart from not censoring problematic shit a 15 yo guy could say (and boy can a 15 say a lot of bullshit), there's also the fucking fact that Marco who is the main character is a porn addict like i can't just put it under the rug, he has problems with masculinity that leads to sexism and then he also watch porn to fill the void because he has depression, that's like, pretty basic experience actually, you don't know how many people fill the void with sex and stuff like that

when i say all this, it's not to be all weird, i'm ace and I think sex is stupid and everyone makes a huge deal about, so I decided hell, i'm gonna talk about it because it's just,,,, a pretty normal thing most people do, it's not a big deal, some people do that, some people don't, who cares, I think we should have less taboo about it just so people can communicate better, that's what i'm trying to do when i talk about sex in the story

it's just an open conversation between the characters, mostly about putting limits, the characters do get frisky here and there but it's never described, what i do is write the dumb shit it may ensure tho, again, because shit happens, you'll get cum on your shirt and here, you go a funny scene about dumb characters and they get a good laugh about it (and it's both a funny scene and a sweet scene in some ways), i mean it's that easy, idk if i'm clear when i'm rambling about my thoughts process there ?? it's just, man people do that and it's not perfect, let's at least talk about it so people feel less embarrassed about it

i'm improvising everything there, sorry if it sounds messy, but i wanna get back to the putting boundaries stuff, because i feel like it's important to show characters that are both talking about it and also being like "hey let's just wait you know" or stuff like that, it's so simple and i don't think we should make a big deal about it, it's just life and i'm putting it in my story, truly that's how i view it, even if the characters suck at communication they can't just do shit without asking and since they're all awkward about it they just need to fucking talk about it even if it's embarrassing and they don't even know what to say

anyway, let's not make a bif deal about sex, it's just sex, it's gonna happen sometimes, teens have sex, it happens, they just need to be able to talk about it or else it will lead to bad decision making and we don't want that in both the real world and in a story

I'm super torn on whether Ocelot ever actually directly tells Big Boss that he's attracted to him, purely out of such a fucked up yandere level of hero worship. Ocelot pretends it's not jealousy and is instead a totally justified dislike. Definitely thinks of him as Zero's slutty lapdog. He spends the time between MGS3/PO (take your pick on canonicity) and GZ keeping tabs on Snake for what he pretends are totally professional, impersonal, non-obsessive reasons. This is not true, obviously. Definitely hopes that Kaz is dead in the devastation.

Goes on an enormous bender between the attack and finding out that Bibo is alive, maybe the only time that he really, truly lets himself completely lose control. Definitely think at least once he gets REAL fucking close to ODing and gets to talk to the Sorrow for a lil bit. Might be how he finds out Snake isn't dead/won't die.

If they haven't at least hooked up anonymously before, Kaz and Ocelot definitely start to in this 9 year gap. Ocelot knows a lot about the human body and does some fancy acupunctury/knife-y stuff to help with the pain from his injuries because, y'know, they're stuck together for now.

Ocelot totally fucks Kaz because he's the person closest to Big Boss left in the world. Ocelot isn't much of a top himself, but he tops Kaz just to figure out what he's used to, using Kaz to build up this mental model of how Big Boss must fuck using the negative space he's left behind.

I do think that Ocelot spent a lot of time at Zanzibarland, and that Kaz intentionally helped time Intrude F014 for a time that Ocelot wouldn't be there, from some lack of desire to kill his...complicated ex lover.

I think Ocelot would absolutely be furious that he wasn't let die with his boss, and intentionally lets Kaz live in 2005 as punishment (I like biblical allusion and so the idea of Kaz living the story of Cain/Pontius Pilate's doorman, cursed to live a wandering life until the second coming of jesus, or in Kaz's situation, the third(?) coming of Big Boss makes me kick my feet and giggle)

Okay, see, I was so wrapped up in the Solomon debacle that I forgot about the whole Beel & Belphie thing.

I get that Belphie is being protective, but I also felt like he wasn't really taking Beel's feelings into consideration! I think there's a fine line between being protective and being controlling. And Belphie was right on the edge of that line, imo. When you're being protective to the point that you're ignoring the needs of the person you're supposedly protecting well... it kinda defeats the purpose there, buddy.

I wonder if they're going to kind of expand on that at some point. Have the twins hash it out with each other. Because I think Belphie isn't normally like this, but I think he's still wary of humans. And his concern is overriding his usual consideration of Beel's feelings.

Now, of course, it's best to remember that this is fiction and nothing in fiction happens the way it would irl. BUT if I had a friend (or romantic interest/boyfriend/etc) who really enjoyed cooking, but for some reason always made gross food, I probably wouldn't lie to them directly. • Bryce's mum is really cute and it's kind of nice to see a story where the heroine isn't a starving orphan, sorry not sorry 🤷‍♀️

• Hunt's mum however 😭😭 that's so sad? And why do I feel like we're going to circle back at some point to that comment about not knowing who his dad is 👀 Is it someone important? It's someone important, isn't it?

• I also find it kind of hilarious that so many people rag on Violet in Fourth Wing, but Hunt Athalar is just as fucking bad. The boy is thirsty af, does he ever think about anything else??

• I also like that Bryce's depression and survivor's guilt is sticking around and not just being used as a plot device, like a lot of books usually do. It's nice. For me, not for her, lol.

• I still don't like Fury. She's still blacklisted. Go run off with E Ithan.

I feel like the way her depression and trauma showed through in little glimpses was something I'd been hoping for out of other characters in her work and never gotten and I'm glad she decided to tackle it properly this time around.

I can also see her getting along really well with Remi, so there, that's my answer now for everyone who kept saying Remi and Aelin would be friends. I can't see that, but I can see Remi and Bryce. And maybe Remi, Bryce, and Nesta being a dangerous trio 😅

...but the hardest thing about alcohol if you're underage is getting it! so, she offers, but hitori gotoh has the moral compass of a (insert competently-written metaphor - we'll definitely fix it in post!), so she truly seems content with not touching it until she's Of Age. uh, okay, "content" might not be the right word. aside from her own cynical, but not inaccurate mind palace excursions into the possible future that awaits her if she were to start drinking. plenty of people drink underage and don't become alcoholics - bocchi herself just has too much physical anxiety to cope with the thought of something that could have such enormous stakes. for her, the stakes of 'drinking' are social more than anything - she's paralyzed with worry about becoming a disappointment and burden to her loved ones. and she doesn't trust future bocchi to not do that. she sees every road as yet another slippery slope to humiliation and rejection. it is an utterly miserable way to live.

the human brain is wired to comprehend 'social rejection' with 'the threat of death.' for our evolutionary ancestors, not being able to fit in with the group meant getting ditched out in the middle of nowhere, literally left to starve and die alone. this is partly because one of our evolutionary legs-up was our ability to communicate with others, form groups, and cooperate. this is hunter-gatherer level lizard brain shit. it's important because we have to all understand: one way or another, we're all wired this way. it's more complex now, because society and technology have become more complex. but brain-wise? 'oh god, am i saying too much about LIZARDS and CAVEMEN' feels the same to bocchi as 'i was so annoying, even my own family would leave me alone to starve, because i was that permanently, irredeemably loathsome.'

My top 3 fav this season are :

- Tadaima, Okaeri (wholesome BL, also one of my comfort read)

-Black Butler : Public School Arc (yes the ship is problematic but you cannot deny the shipper when you watch it. I'm not shipping SebasCiel but I'm not anti too. Their canon relationship is complicated but great story)

-Wind Breaker (bucchigiri but way better and loveable mc)

Black Butler was definitely a must, since the announcement dropped sometime last year I've been unable to keep it out of my mind. It's understandable not everyone will ship them but I personally have missed Sebaciel shenanigans so much and seeing favorite characters like Soma (although with less melanin than I remember lol what =_=) in the recent episode just made me so happy.

As for Tadaima Okaeri, I was looking forward to it for a long time, so far I'm not disappointed and it's definitely so fucking cute. All I'm saying is...if any country needs to push baby making propaganda they should go for this instead of the trashy het stuff, I don't make the rules.

I have almost no thoughts on Wind Breaker. It's definitely an upgrade but after the disappointment that was Bucchigiri, I've began to keep my expectations for Delinquent shows low (Tokyo revengers and IWGP are yet to be topped for me). It's not bad but do feel like it's lacking substance in some areas and trying too hard. The main character isn't a bitch tho so I know there's hope for it yet.

To me this year's winter season had way more exciting stuff but there are a number of other anime I'd love to recommend for this spring.

Karasu wa aruji wa Erabanai (The Raven does not choose it's Master) Is almost like the apothecary diaries, but with magic, and without the herbs and medicine...but it has the court politics so yay (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧ taking place in a world where people can turn into three legged ravens called Yatagurasu, Yukiya after causing some trouble for his family is taken to serve the most special of specials crown prince who is to become the next Kin'u after picking a bride from the four daughters of the clan heads sent to him. So basically every gay historical romance Wattpad story lol. Unfortunately this isn't a bl and though you can probably tell the prince will get married in future episodes, from these three eps, I think it establishes the focus will be on him and Yukiya, which, I couldn't ask for more.

Another Recommendation is Kaijuu no. 8, I have no words (in a good way). Just spacial forces slaying gigantic monsters while the main character suddenly becomes one of those monsters and has to still join the special force that at some point will kill him if they find out, or if they have found out they realize he's different from other monsters and can help them win the war for humanity *aot flashbacks ಥ‿ಥ* What I'm trying to say is that... it's good. I think it's funny with characters that have to potential to reel you in. I've been told the manga is pretty average tho but we'll see.

Touken Ranbu Kai is...something, I don't watch anime just for pretty boys but even if I didn't like the plot of this one I'd stick with it just for the guys. Beautiful character designs, the lore feels very fresh and intriguing and as well. There's a lot of philosophical topics I think the show has potential to dive into and I'm excited to see where we go moving forward from the three eps out currently.

Last but not least, there's Sentai Daishikkaku (Go Go Loser Ranger) I really don't want to spoil anything but let me just say, it's a brilliant subversion of the Power Rangers narrative. The sound track is fun while also hitting hard, and the characters definitely leave you wanting to know more about them and the world they're in. Definitely give it a try, I don't think you'll regret it.

Got a bit carried away with this one hahah, welp that's all my recs for now. Aside from my shipping stuff I'll probably talk about any of these every now and then, my top three right now tho are definitely Black Butler, Sentai Daishikkaku and Karasu wa aruji wa Erabanai. Anon has amazing taste but I'm a very big action and supernatural fan at heart so I'm based.

Depending on how disappointing or exciting things get along the line this list might change but unfortunately my feelings don't help the state of my FAL ranking so yeah wish me luck (〒﹏〒)
