Happy (Late) Valentine's day everyone!!

-To be fair, Belle is never shown fighting her ennemies head on, I'm pretty sure she'd be useless in hand-to-hand combat. Her thing is more to stay in retreat to watch over and cover her gang from afar (like a sniper does). She uses more trickery to get the upper hand, using brute force is Sam's job. I do think she knows how to defend herself if need be, she can throw very painful punches with the gold arm (it's very heavy), but it's only as a last resort, she'd prefer to run away.

Other than that, no way anybody can win against that freaking monkey

Last one : Mortis, Chuck, Gus, Poco, Emz and Frank are all the same kind of mutant, they're just people who came back to life after a certain amount of time. The variations in their appearance only comes from the different conditions of their mutations :

-Mortis died of an illness, and came back to life almost right after his burial, so his body is almost intact.

-Chuck died of an accident that deformed his body greatly, and came back to life almost immediately. He managed to put himself back together with time, but he is still half a ghost.

-Gus was "vaporized" (gross ☹️), body never found. He doesn't have a physical form anymore, and is fully a ghost.

-Poco died and stayed dead for very long. His body had time to decay fully, he still has a physical body, but it's now reduced to a skeleton.

-Same thing for Emz, only her body only decayed a little, she still has flesh, but she's missing a lot of it, resembling now a zombie.

-Frank was resurrected by Mortis right after his death. But he messed up real bad, and now he looks like a monster ☹️

Other death headcanon (⚠️suicide mention, maybe it's too dark but it makes sense to me) :

During his life, Chuck suffered a terrible chronic disease that slowly took away all of his motor functions. At first it was fine, as he could still write music and conduct, even when bound to a wheelchair. But soon, it threatened to also take his hands, arms, and head, he became terrified of his own body. He would no longer be able to create or even hear music, being reduced to what he saw as a cadaver. He decided he prefered to die rather than suffer this horrible fate, and took his own life by going onto the tracks.

But then poof! He turned into a ghost-mutant-man, but as I already explained, it wasn't all good at first. His body was essentially dead, and it was so mangled that he was struggling to hold himself together. But the advantage of having a dead body, is that he wasn't sick anymore! Eventually he learned to adapt to and accept his new form, and found the will to live and create music again.

Okay headcanon time : Mortis, Mortis' mom and EMZ all initially died from the same hereditary illness. This makes his fear/fascination for death more interesting narratively. The illness lurking in his family represents the inevitability and unpredictability of death, as he constantly tried to fight it throughout his life.

He only stopped trying to fight it when he realised the pain he brought to Frank and Emz when he ressucitated them. Now he tries to pay back the damage he did by providing them with the best life he can.

His brother, who died of old age, helped him to accept the loss of his loved ones.

Did Eddy go to school? If not, how was his education?

Eddy never went to school, it would've been too dangerous to send him all the way there everyday.

Instead, he was basically homeschooled by the gang, Sam was routinely sitting him down to teach him how to count and read. Meanwhile the others would transmit their own knowledge to him. As a result, his pool of knowledge is a bit different from the other kids, he's not dumb, but there are some simple subject he's not very well versed in.

what was chuck first reaction to gus

Okay so, I'm changing my Chuck/Gus backstory a bit. It's not very different, but it doesn't include Chuck killing Gus because it's way too dark for me. So, Gus' side didn't change much, he was a regular kid from the badlands. I like to think he was an orphan and had little to no supervision, and it leaded him to often wander off and get lot. What we call the ghost station is a run-down and almost abandoned train station deep in the badlands, few people ever go there, as they say it is haunted. Same thing goes for the ghost train, there is a saying that it is cursed, as all of its conductors have gone insane. The truth is, it's just a very old broken down train, that only runs very late into the night, all of that in very hostile terrains, most of the conductors quit out of burn-out or get fired because of accidents. This is unfortunately what happened to Gus, as one night, he ran off on the tracks.

Let's switch to Chuck's side. He too, suffered a terrible accident (maybe the same accident as Gus'!), that left his body horrificaly mangled, and yet, he managed to come back alive again because of a mutation. It's a very similar metamorphosis to Mortis', only more pronounced, as his body was severely damaged (though, I'm still not sure if his disability comes from the accident, or if he was already disabled beforehand). His "recovery" was very harsh, and left him depressed for a long time as he almost couldn't move anymore, and people around him treated him like some kind of monster. Eventually, when he recovered enough, a well-meaning nurse showed him a job offer for a "conductor", but they didn't realise it wasn't the right kind. Chuck had no experience with train, and in fact, disliked them pretty much, but the station's staff were desperate. So before he knew it, he found himself as the new ghost train's conductor.

Let's face it, the train's atmosphere was pretty grim and lonely. It was almost always empty, and yet, a presence could always be felt. But Chuck managed to adapt pretty well to it, he even flourished in this new environnement. The solitude allowed him to slowly recollect himself, and he regained a bit of his energy and creativity thanks to the train's unique atmosphere. Meanwhile, Gus, who was one of the only regular passengers, took a habit of creeping the passengers out with his ghostly powers, yet, he noticed that they weren't affecting the new conductor much.

Chuck managed to catch the little troublemaker, and realised that it was only a child, moreover, he was a ghost, just like him.

Since then, Chuck decided to take care of the lost child, so they wouldn't have to be alone. Thanks to Gus, he regained a lost of his humanity and passion, he trained his new ghostyl powers so he can make again.

One last note : Gus and Chuck aren't bound to the train because of a curse. It sounds less magical but I like the idea that they live like regular people, they just live with very abnormal bodies. Gus is just the only regular passenger (it's maybe the only one that goes from his home to his school), and for Chuck, it's just his job.
