The pun on the shirt came straight out of my brain and I am so proud of it.
The dialog "Misogyny is just a skill issue" is a statement of actual fact.

I set my old username because Rosa was the first bi character to call herself that that I'd seen on TV and it meant a lot to me, but I've been uncomfortable with having a copagander name for a while.

Silly Game Time: What're some of your favorite curse words, expletives, and swears?
If you prefer, they can be more polite substitutions (heck, frick, etc.) or old-timey options (tarnation, excrescence, etc.) so long as you genuinely like them. Oh! If you speak multiple languages, include your favorites in those, too!
I'm a fan of a lot of them, honestly. Damn, fuck, heck, tarnation, hell, bloody hell, curses, goddamnit, goodness, oh stars, are a few that come to mind.
In Spanish, I'm a fan of both puta and mierda. I'm particularly fond of the Chilean “puta la wea” and the no-native-speaker-actually-says-this-one, “madre mierda”. Or, as my roommate jokes, mother shit.
Oh, and I do like that in ASL "Fuck you" is but a flick of the wrist, so to speak.

"yes you," aileen confirmed. she hadn't really thought about the storage aspect, figuring a closet and nightstand were good enough. any guests could live out of a suitcase while they were at her house. "would a closet and dresser be sufficient? make the room more like a regular bedroom. but then that's just the same storage as a regular bedroom. hm."
She jumped a bit at the foot coming towards her, even though it was low to the ground and didn't hit her. She just hadn't been expecting it. "Me?" she asked, making sure they had the right person. "Um, I guess a relaxed atmosphere and comfortable bed. Decent storage space is ideal too, but not too much if you want them to leave eventually. Personal touches are also nice, things that show it's your kind of space but not overwhelmingly so it doesn't feel like they're sleeping in your room."

I'm just in love with the implication that The Pantheon of Pandemonium (I know no one's calling them that. I'm just a sucker for a little alliteration, okay?), an all but literal Pantheon of Chaos Gods. Have their own folklore of The Lord Temporal.
The one being powerful enough not only open the doors between worlds, but after doing so, to beat, banish and bind their progenitor deity in salt.

ii ships I don't even care about I just want to make fun names for them
nickel × cheesy: "grate deal" (knee slap) I swear I'm cooking here I literally don't care about them but. cheese pun and a play on a "great deal" which refers to nickel being a low sum of money and the great deal of patience you'd need to deal with both of them lol.
tissues × suitcase: "coldcase" imagine them as a detective/cop/forensic scientist duo solving a crime really badly. I'd pay money to watch that. i would.
marshmallow × mic: "sweet melody" idk it sounded nice and gives them a really soft vibe.
silver spoon × paintbrush × cabby: "silverpaintcab" I just wanted to try and spell my name out. we all know they'd kill each other within a week lol.
lightbulb × balloon: "lightloon" im a sucker for alliteration. you want to know how many suitcase ships I cut because this. also "lightheaded" or "airhead" or something because. duh.
microphone × pickle: "band equipment" because microphone and then pickles name shortened is pick like as in guitar pick. trust!!!!!!
trophy × oj: "first place" I think you get it.
test tube × microphone: "mic test" testmic shippers must not be very observant. mic test is right there and you go with it's invert.
clover × candle: "safetyspell" because clover's luck acts as a safety net for her and candle. is candle. alternatively this is life ring and candle.
tissues × mephone4: "snotcolate chip" I'd like to apologize to everyone forever.

I don't know how Whimsical Halsin would be realistically, but I'm a sucker for characters who are old/wise enough to fuck around with their younger companions,
For example:
Saying incredibly SPICY things mid convo,
Or tossing in cringe levels of rhyming/alliteration at unexpected moments
but being absolutely deadpan and not acknowledging that he did it, slipping them in poetically mid conversation in a way that would make people groan and sigh if a bard did it, but because it's HALSIN they all just do a double take like *did he do that on purpose???* and here he is staring straight forward with the most benign facial expression like he has no idea he just made everyone do a spit take.
Example: they see a dragon fly overhead. Everyone's looking up
Halsin: Ah, such majestic beauty. To see a scaled serpent take to the sky with such grace is a privilege. Reminds me of a time in my youth where I found myself beneath such a creature, rutting until the sun rose above us in a cascade of light, casting illumination upon our tangled bodies within the cave that we had taken refuge. Anyways, shall we press on?
Literally everyone: what the fuck did you just say to me right now

thank you for the alliteration compliment, I confess it was harder than it should have been. also i've checked and all of your hades AU wip asks have been from me im so sorry 😭😭. but it looks like ive contained myself to only asking every 1-1.5 months so that's good at least. im a sucker for canon welding of xover AUs, it's so hard to do well but when it is it's so juicy. the thought that's goes into combining two very different universes with very different rules that guide them makes me lose my mind. anyway good writing big fan thanks for responding to asks 👍
tbh you're showing impressive restraint considering i said the third installment would be out "soon." (i did think it would be! 2024 had other plans.) and thank you! i'm really glad you like the au!!

How about Crimson with an Imp reader who is much bigger then Crimson?
Okay, I like this idea, not sure what you mean by bigger though, that means a lot of things, So I'm gonna take it as taller and thicker built cause that sounds like a fun way to go, but interpret the writing how you envision I suppose, grumpy Mob boss flustered at being so small compared to his partner, let's do this XP
Tumblr media
Crimson with an Imp Reader who is much bigger then him
Ah... Okay then.
Most of Crimson's men are shark demons, which are just generally taller then him for the most part, so he's kinda used to being the physicaliy smallest in the room, but he still feels like he's the strongest since they listen to his every whim after all. You on the other hand were different, whenever your close to him or touch him, he ends up feeling very small and vulnerable, and he refuses to boss you around, Satan knows what happened when he did that with his last partner.
He of course usually keeps his cool, tough as nails demeanor even though he's pretty flustered internally just being around you, even if you've caught him just looking you up and down, for varying reason, awe, attraction, wanting to just nuzzle up to your large form. But you can bet he's not admitting any that. He is very grumpy if you ever pick him up, just pouting and crossing his arms till you set him down, glad his only scars are around his eyes making his blush hard to notice.
Short jokes or teasing him about his height make him even madder, you don't do them often cause of that, but it's cute to see the angry blush. Don't get me wrong tho, he can manage not to be a blushy mess, he eventually adjusts to be able to keep up the composure to turning the teasing back on you, also you can bet he likes to top you when he can :3 Some of the teasing is innocent tho, like laughing when you bump your head on a doorway without your height in mind, or a ceiling fan tassel (Tall struggles I can confirm XP) Which always makes you fire back with you easily reaching the thing he just can't, you love to tease eachother about the height difference essentially. You sometimes recruiting one of his more lighthearted men like Chaz to tag team tease him. He doesn't take teasing sitting down though, if you get a little too bold, he'll sweep your legs right out from under and catch you, kissing you while your too flustered to respond, making you a stammering blushing mess. Which then makes any partner you recruited tease you right back, so hard to find loyal help these days am I right XP And while he allows that, thinking you deserve it a bit for getting too bold with him. If anyone teases you about it out of the blue, or Satan forbid insult you about it for some dumb reason, he'll roast the shit out of them, and probably arrange for them to get shot later if they talk back, Only he's allowed to tease you, or someone can with his approval, otherwise Fuck around and find out suckers. But sometimes? Sometimes he melts, clinging onto you desperately as you hug him in an encompassing embrace, only admitting to himself that you make him feel safe from all the regrets he refuses to agknowledge. Just grateful he still has you.
(Also thanks to my boyfriend @aveismaschine for the "encompassing embrace" alliteration, true genious dear) Overall it's a pretty wholesome relationship, filled with teasing and one upping flustering the other, along with genuine sweet moments that come with any good relationship, or at least that's my spin on it, thanks for the idea Anon.

If you were to come up with new titles for all the demigods that lack a unique title, like the Qlippoth Lords, Kami Lords, Protean Lords and the Empyreal Lords, technically (giving them unique titles that fit along which type of Celestial they are.), what would you give them? I already say you or someone else call them? I saw either you or someone else call the Protean Lords "Protean Maestros", and I thought up Primordial Qlippoth and Kami Kannushi myself so that leaves only four more.
------
I think I've made this post before, but I can't find it while I'm at work, and I never renamed all the Empyreal Lords, so:
I've been using Protean Cantor and Qlippoth Primordials! I've used Cantor so much I legitimately forgot they were just called "lords." I like Kami Kannushi, though this is because I'm a sucker for alliteration.
As for the good side, what I have so far and which is subject to change is
Empyreal Authority (Archon)
Empyreal Guru (Agathion)
Empyreal Muse or Maestro (Azata)
Empyreal Arbiter (Angel)

#79 please!
79. Do you have any writing advice you want to share?
I am seriously honored to be asked this one.
Of note, my advice is geared towards the way my neurodivergent brain works, so mileage may vary. AuDHD for the win.
In whatever way you like to write/keep notes, make an Ideas/Notes document, and jot down all of the ideas that come to you. Be they snippets, a new piece of headcannon, a chunk of dialogue, whatever. Whenever they come, and you can get 'em down, nail those suckers down. You might never use them, or they might get edited beyond recognition, but I know that if I make note of them, I won't lose them to the ether. To that end, if I'm driving and an IDEA comes, I call and leave myself a voicemail. I can access my notes doc from any internet connection, and jot down ideas ALL the time. It is so advantageous.
I don't always write linearly. I have a ongoing timeline to keep track of my stories and ideas in order, and what things happen when, but I tend to write when the muse hits for a specific piece. I do sit down and try to finish things, in some semblance of order, but I don't force it. I allow myself to work on the piece that is speaking to me, that is delivering the dopamine. I can swap back and forth between WIPs fairly easily now.
Go back and re-read your own work when trying to find or remember a specific characters voice. Often, when I sit down to write a POV, I will go and skim other sections by that same character to give myself a refresher on how they sound in my head and look on the page. As I expand into more varied character POVs, this has become super helpful.
My workflow tends to go:
Rough/First Draft (get it all down, even if it is a little choppy.)
First Edit Run (soon after finishing the rough draft, if not immediately. Refine dialogue, add in bits of background, describe emotions/moods, double check if the physical blocking makes sense.)
Second Edit Run (Usually a day or three after the First Edit. Double check that all the additions FLOW.)
Find _ Edit Run (Using Find to look for repeated/overused words, like 'look', and any 'had hads' or '*'d hads'. I dislike repeating words, and the Thesaurus is my friend. This one goes super quick.)
Read Aloud Edit Run (Read the entire work aloud to myself. This is so key in finding hidden repeated words, badly placed alliteration, clunky dialogue, and run on sentences. It also helps me place punctuation better.)
Final Edit Run (Usually weeks after the original writing. I give myself time and space to 'forget' the work, and then come back with fresh eyes. I usually change very little at this stage, but sometime there's last minute tweaks. If Beta readers have given me feedback, this is usually when I implement it.)
@stormkpr I am so jazzed to get to answer this question, seriously. And it has actually helped me clarify some of my own thoughts on writing, so THANK YOU!!

Day 9 Pattern!
Welcome to Pattern Playa (I'm a sucker for alliteration lol)
I wanted to keep this one a little more simple build wise so the pattern in the blankets and campfires would be more noticeable. I kept trying to make everything in patterns like the path ways. I thought I was done too and then I went hmmm why not add a boat pattern lmao
Happy day 9!

December Reading Recap
I thought about trying to do some kind of 2022 reading summation/best of/worst of/whatever and I might still do that but right now I'm just going "too many booksahhh" so I'm just going to keep on going with month two of my "here's what I read this month" short reviews.
I read a lot this month, but unfortunately it involved several books that missed for me (but a few that I really enjoyed).
The Husky and His White Cat Shizun: vol. 1 by Meatbun Doesn't Eat Meat (Seven Seas Translation). I mean, as usual, even without knowing the actual quality of the translation as a translation I am still pining for a professional translator. And yet I'm still reading, because this is the way I have to read the thing as translated by an actual human, and I am enjoying it. This time around I am falling much more in love with Chu Wanning than I did the first time around when I was laser focused on Mo Ran as more nakedly ~my type~ but boy!! *pats Chu Wanning* this man can fit soooo many issues in him.
Babel, Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution by R.F. Kuang. I feel like my relationship status with R.F. Kuang's writing should just be listed as "it's complicated" because I don't even know how I feel about this book, really. It's conceptually fascinating, it's doing so many cool things, the way she chose to end it is very bold and I respect the hell out of it, and something still just didn't quite...click for me in the way that I wanted it to.
I think it was that it felt a little heavy-handed with its metaphors. Which is fine, to be sure, and making your imperialism metaphors specifically about language and translation isn't something I've seen somebody do a lot with in fiction, but...yeah. I'm calling this one less a fault of the book and more a fault of the me, though; it definitely feels like a your mileage may vary situation.
Several People Are Typing by Calvin Kasulke. I picked this up on a whim and it wasn't worth it. The book was very taken with its own cleverness; I was not.
The Maidens by Alex Michaelides. This was another one where the summary/description was more interesting than the actual book turned out being, which was, while readable and I was intrigued enough by the mystery to power through it pretty fast, underwhelming overall.
Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots. Some people (me) keep picking up retellings despite at this point knowing better; other people (me) keep picking up superhero-comics-inspired books despite at this point knowing better, only this time I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. It was legitimately a good story! And you know I'm always going to be a sucker for a story that takes the villain's side.
Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield. I have the creeping feeling that this book was too sophisticated for me and I would have liked it more if I was more sophisticated, which is an unpleasant feeling to have.
I wanted more deep sea horror from it than I got - not in the sense of ~creatures and tentacles~ or anything, but this was far more a book about grief and loss than it was horror, and it was billed to me as the latter, so I came in from the wrong direction and was a little disappointed. It was a good book, though, and beautifully written.
Everything I Need I Get From You by Kaitlyn Tiffany. Had I known that the title of this book was from a One Direction song (I didn't) I might have anticipated more how much it was about bandom and therefore less relevant to my interests. It was also lighter on the analysis than I expected/wanted, so ultimately this one was a disappointment too.
Beowulf trans. by Maria Dahvana Headley. This is the first translation of Beowulf I have ever actually read (!) and after reading it I kind of wished that I'd read at least one other translation to compare it to. But a lot of the things she was doing with alliteration and assonance and rhythm in the language were just spectacular. And it gave me the chance to read this one (by this translator) coupled with:
The Mere Wife by Maria Dahvana Headley. Adding this to my "books to read in pairs" list alongside the Song of Achilles / Silence of the Girls dyad. It's been sitting on my shelf for a while now, and I finally got around to it as spurred by reading the original Beowulf text, and...whoa. I'm going to be thinking about this one for a while and I want other people I know to read it so I can bounce off their thoughts about it. If you haven't heard of it: this was billed as a retelling (I know) of the Beowulf story set in a gated community but I feel like the fact that it's based on Beowulf is almost beside the point in some ways, and in other ways it's very much in conversation with that text and lives alongside it and maybe a little in argument with it.
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: vol. 4 by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (Seven Seas Translation). I feel a little bad about how my reaction to this volume was a little bit "this was mostly a lot of Wangxian stuff so I was less excited about it" but there you go.
Siren Queen by Nghi Vo. I have to say, I read The Chosen and the Beautiful when it came out and was a little underwhelmed, but the synopsis for this one sounded interesting, and people kept raving about it, so I decided to give it a go, and I liked this one both (a) much better than The Chosen and the Beautiful and (b) just as a book without comparison needed. It also made me want to dig more into early film history. The way that this book is in love with (in a way) early film is also a delight to read, and while I can't call it subtle, it's eerie and beautiful in a way that really worked for me.
The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp. I read a lot of horror despite the fact that I end up underwhelmed by the vast majority of it. I was slightly less underwhelmed by this one than I expected to be, but that is, as you might note, not exactly an endorsement. Part of the problem was that I found the main narrator just too fucking hateable in a very specific way to feel anything about his suffering but vague, detached interest in where it was going to go.
Heaven Official's Blessing: vol. 5 by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (Seven Seas Translation). I just love this book so much and everything about the reading experience is difficult to judge in an objective way because my brain just kind of goes "look at them go! look at these little dudes go! they're so funny :)" in a very empty-headed sort of way.
This volume does sort of fall between my favorite bits, though (after end of Black Water Arc, before the Hua Cheng's Sculpture Gallery), so while it started digging into some of the Crown Prince of Wuyong lore it didn't quite hit the parts that are juiciest for me.
The Coming Plague by Laurie Garrett. This book made me so mad about public health policy. Like, so mad. I'm mad about it periodically anyway but this just made it worse. It's really good, very comprehensive overview of some of the emerging diseases since 1950, including Lassa, Ebola, antibiotic resistance, HIV/AIDS, and others. It's long, and definitely a rough read if you've got any kind of disease phobia (she isn't...gruesome about the clinical descriptions but she also isn't mincing words), but worth a read if you feel like you can do it and are interested in epidemiology.
There's definitely outdated terminology and some bits that made me squint about the book's politics, but overall the author's clear message of the need for holistic health policies for everybody mitigated a lot of those concerns (particularly the way the author repeatedly underlined the links between poverty and deprivation and vulnerability to illness, and the vitality of giving people a way out of that situation as part of public health policy.
The Bone Orchard by Sara Mueller. The last book I read in 2022! I'm so fascinated by everything this book was doing. There was some very interesting world-building under the skin of what was really mostly a mystery with a side of politics. And I say that favorably. Ultimately I'm not sure that it'd make my favorite books of the year list, but I'd give it a casual recommendation; that is, if someone was eyeing it to read I'd say it was worth picking up.
I'm currently reading Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism by Michelle Goldberg, which was published in 2007 (during the Bush years) and I can already tell reading it now is going to be an experience.
