Still having a health bar, but when it goes out she gets back up, but like a second phase. With attacks being stronger, and getting a little more max health.

With the player, or you having a heal every time you knockout Connie. You could also customize her sponsor, but only after you knock out that champion if that makes sense...

Still needs a little tweaking but there you go :3

the idea of humans taking care of a baby vampire is so fascinating. usually it's an older vampire taking care of the new ones, or the new one being on their own with no one to guide them from what ive seen. And how it switches the roles in dteam, making sap and george have to take care of most things instead of dream. also gives me the thought of Dream trying his best to keep them alive once he's more settled into being a vampire. Trying to prevent them from being like him. risking himself to ensure that they are gonna be fine, much to both of their concerns. because what if dream gets killed. what if he dies again. would he just come back again? can he even die anymore? they dont wanna find out

(also thinking of this AU mixed with the mafia mafia AU. once more with Dream dying, potentially during the exchange. Team gets to keep the body and they prepare a funeral and all but before it can happen, dream is awake.)

You have no idea how much mindless world building has been going through my head...

Playing on the notion of the different ways people can be turned from folklore, how I'm having this play out in this world, there are multiple ways to be turned, Vampires are a known Monster. But most of the other methods are thought to be just ways to get children to behave, how to be a model citizen, myths really. Mostly because...no one really notices when someone goes through these transformations unbit. It's always assumed that a rogue vampire was bit and abandoned by its sire, left to cause havoc in their town.

Yet...I'm thinking most "rogue" vampires, ones who lose their sense of rationality, are these unbit vampires. Going rogue because they have no Sire. No one to help them through this vampiric process. Unable to obtain most vampire features without a Sire's blood. No sharpen fangs to help them hunt and no supernatural powers to aid them in survival. Going after mainly livestock and unknowning passerbys...

Like I stated before, it's thought in folklore that vampires just crave to be dead and killing them is a mercy and I wanna say that's true for these rogue vampires. While they do lose their sense of rationality and rely on their hunger instinct, they're also bombarded with dreadful longing of someone they don't and will never have. Constantly hit with utter despair and sorrow and loneliness. In truth, they rather die again then having to be undead and full of this dreadful void inside of them. Getting more and more reckless so the hunters can finally give them peace....

Which leads us to Dream's unique circumstance!

Technically he is considered a rogue vampire with the lack of a Sire, but!!! He isn't alone.

Like there's a lot of things that come into Dream's favor besides having such two loving people by his side. The main one is their town being highly old fashion and always believing in the superstition. There just happens to be a lot more information about these unbitten vampires because the townsfolk are so highly keen with their ancestors warnings and stories.

It's why Sapnap believes more in the "curse" than George. Perhaps George was abandoned at this town and was able find Sapnap and Dream and the three of them have been together ever since. But Sapnap grew up there. He believes in it as much as any other townsfolk. Dream was always skeptical but that was more the underlying fear of being turned himself...he knew what he was doing and just wanted it to not be true...

But thankfully, a superstitious town can provide solutions other than killing said vampire. Such as luring the vampire into a forest for one.

Dream is still faced with the instinct of a baby vampire craving for a Sire, but what ends up happening are these instincts basically imprinting on George and Sapnap. It's like....a baby duckling in the fullest. A freshly turned vampire will usually see their Sire and immediately imprint on them, forming that mental connection, they know they're a vampire off the bat and know what to do as a fledgling, the Sire's blood reinforcing that and helping them develop further.

But Dream's instincts imprints on two humans.

And after the stare off they all had with each other(all the time his instincts need to imprint), these two humans are hugging him so tight and are so warm and they're crying oh no! Why are they so sad :(!! He wants to make them happy!!

His instinct go kinda crazy in loving Sapnap and George, something Dream already fundamently feels. It's Dream's rational brain that is...weary of such intense feelings. Loving George and Sapnap felt like breathing air, needed but always subconsciously happening, didn't even have to think about it. But now it's this little voice constantly begging and yearning and missing them!! Being so happy when they bring him blood, basically to the point of tears from the gratitude he feels. They take so good care of him!!!

And it's a George and Sapnap...not feeling too bothered by this new-ish Dream. They /like/ Dream relying on them. It feels good to provide for him. After all this time of Dream taking care of them...which lead to his death...well! They're gonna take responsibility and make sure hiss...unliving life is the best as they can make it!! If they can...get him to stop crying and whining when they have to go back to the town before daybreak...Dream...Dream please we'll be back, just go to sleep, look how cozy we made this cave for you....OK ok we'll stay until you fall asleep of course...yes you can hold our hands.....

The two of them need to go get their own food (unable to share their catches with Dream, his bite poisoning any meat he bites into....at least that's what they were told...) and do more research on how to help Dream (and protect themselves). Trying to find ways to prepare for winter. Already building up stock of winter clothes and supplies to build a more suitable shelter for Dream.

I want to say their initial weariness of Dream doesn't last too long. But it's always this excuse they have on what Dream isn't allowed to have or do certain things. They use Dream's vampirism as a way to keep him just for themselves, for as long as they can...Dream isn't allowed to hunt because what if it triggers something in him and then he turns on them! Dream needs to kneel and be patient and have the catch put in his mouth, he can't be food aggressive! He can't let his hunger take hold of his mind, he needs to practice being good and patient now!! It's turns...very possessive very fast lmao

Which is like. On par with Sires. Something else I can mess with really...(fledglings just innately having whoever they imprinted on Want to take care of them...it's subtle and not noticeable really to the person, but a real difference is noticeable to anyone else)

But Dream wants to give back. After a while of being taken care of and finally getting his wits about him, instincts settling enough to see how George and Sapnap are wearing themselves thin....His constant worries of them turning out like him scares him too. The more pressing of his instincts flaring and upset at the thoughts of Sapnap and George potentially dying. Dream can't take care of them as a rogue vampire if they're also rogue vampires!! What if they die and he never finds out!!! What if the town gets to their bodies before he can...they'll burn them to a crisp before they can even have a chance of waking up again...he can't let that happen.

It's a mess in his mind too and comes to the conclusion he needs to make it easier on them. Building his own makeshift traps to catch rabbits and other small prey. Growing confident that if he can provide for himself he can provide for them too :)!! Trying to help further build the shelter into something Sapnap and George can stay in forever with him!! With him...forever...where they can all be safe and happy...

And he's proudly showing Sapnap and George everything he's done. Showing his Sires how good of a fledgling he is :)!!

Sapnap and George....are basically horrified. Interrogating where Dream got certain supplies ("In...the town...but I wasn't seen I swear!! I know you guys were talking about needing this and and...") and where he got food like chickens and obviously domesticated ducks and rabbits ("well it...you know that farm...but it was really easy and they'll think it was a fox really! I...wasn't seen! I made sure!!")

And Dream can already feel his inner fledgling cowering. He made them mad and worried and sad and disappointed...he's a bad fledgling....

But George and Sapnap will shower him in affection but not approval, holding him so close between the two. He can't leave the forest, you never know what might happen, you can never be too sure!! We already did the research, you need to trust us, you don't have a regular vampire's powers, but we'll take care of you, please Dream...what if we lose You.../again/...we can't get you back another time. Please Dream. We'll be safe we promise

"Promise...?"

"Just for you. We won't leave you alone." George's voice is so reassuring and Dream knows he can trust it...

"Forever together?"

"Forever." Sapnaps voice has no hesitation and is so earnest and genuine. Something that Dream knows he can trust it...

But Dream's instincts knows his Sires aren't immortal. Dream knows himself they're just humans. Even if Dream is just as vulnerable as them, he can't bear the thought of something happening to them. They need to stay here with him....and he'll figure it out somehow...

Anyways! Mafia au side track :3

Funny enough, suicide was also another folklore reasoning for turning into a vampire :^) (along with being a criminal, or being super depressed and alone. Or a premature/sudden death)

Q who just shot Dream after seeing all the commotion happening, before being shot himself.

Sapnap screaming and running towards Dream and begging he stays awake. The other mafia members rushing towards them. Sapnap screaming at all of them to go away, they cause this, this is their fault any of this happened.

George being able to drag Sapnap away from Dream's body screaming and crying to let him go. Having to knock him out to take him back home...if he will even consider it home after this...

I imagine the guys preparing Dream's body and trying to have it bless so he doesn't come back undead. They super believe in all of it and are wanting to take every precaution. But Sapnap refusing for any of them to do anything. He doesn't want them near Dream. They can fuck right off. He'll bury Dream himself if he has to.

It's Dream groggily sitting up asking why they're all screaming....(and then they all start truly screaming)

Recently I played a bit with character design and finally came up with a look for one of the Center characters that I like Meet one of the gang's messengers! She's a former revolutionary and the oldest member of the Center squad. She was injured during her time in battle, and now has to cover her extremely photosensitive eyes from the sun during the day. A remarkable lady, to some extent she even represents the messengers as a group. I named her after Charophyte algae in my native language (it's a short name), but in English she either has a pretty long name or named Chara, and I don't want to pick the last one for a certain reason. Maybe I'll name her Charophyte, maybe just in this language she'll be called after a different alga, we'll see...

And I finally returned to the concept of trinkets, marking the members of the Center! Only now the messengers are distinguished from the leader's inner circle by the color of the jewelry, not by their position.

The forbidden fruit is said to be sweet, but only for people. For holy beings like the archangels, the forbidden fruit is more poisonous and dangerous than fire, capable at best of burning wings or driving someone crazy.

After a certain tempting serpent got into the garden of Eden, feeding the forbidden fruit to Adam and Eve, all the archangels began to be wary not only of what surrounds them, but also of each other. Not to say that there was some kind of split in their team, but as if they were not telling themselves something, and this is already felt most strongly.

"Mr. Death!" Luke's playful nicknames somehow helped to cope with the situation. "Let me treat you to these fruits."

Morningstar passes over some juicy pale red apples. They look so appetizing that even Samael had a certain feeling of hunger. The temptation was enormous, to which Volkov, to his own regret, succumbed. Although he was young, by the standards of the archangels, he should have had some kind of willpower, as he himself believed.

Luke hurriedly left, not wanting to interfere with his friend, and Samael just twirls the apple in his hands. He decided to try it, why not?

The taste of the fruit was so sweet that I didn't want anything else. It is impossible to achieve such a taste on your own – the hand of God is clearly attached to this. And only one fruit had such a taste...

The forbidden fruit had already penetrated the archangel's body, was already poisoning his mind, was already beginning to beckon with more cruel, perverted temptations. Everything seemed so pleasant and inviting that Samael himself did not notice how he had killed one of the reapers in his office.

The wings were stiff and the feathers only got stuck in the teeth. Definitely not the best part of their body, unlike their warm flesh, which only grew colder in his hands over time. Skin, veins, blood... It's so delicious that it's impossible to break away. And even when the young reaper's body did not leave any tasty parts behind, Samael began to eat the remains of his darling. Ah, their soul... The Reaper got caught with a delicious soul that gave Volkov strength. He felt something pleasant pass through his body, but it was so little. One soul is not enough. He need more, more, more! Oh, he started to go crazy, but how fucking good it is!

"Killing about a hundred of your own reapers, Samael..." there is disappointment and hopelessness in Uriel's once neutral voice. He expected from anyone, but not from Volkov. "Do you have any excuses?"

No, there are none. He succumbed to the influence, which caused him to lose control of both himself and his powers. With just a glance, he could kill all the angels present, so he has a bandage on his face and shackles on his hands.

"It was good for me." he answers with a smile. He didn't seem to care how many mournful, judgmental, and anxious looks were on him. He felt good at that moment. He wasn't going to give up on the pleasure.

There was silence. Cassiel doesn't know where to put herself, Gabriel is afraid, Michael is desperate, and only Luke remained neutral. Suddenly Uriel breaks the silence:

"Samael Volkov, the former archangel of death and the commander of reapers, is guilty. As punishment for your crimes, you will be banished to hell with your wings torn out. The trial is over.

After that, Uriel is removed. No one else saw him. And Samael was taken out, and then the wings were really torn out. This is a really terrible fate for an archangel, literally one of the most painful things he can experience.

Before he was exiled, he muttered.

"I'll be back for you two."

After these words, even Luke felt uneasy. Even if Samael was exiled, his words against him can be convincing at least for Cassiel, and she, in turn, is not someone who is easily befuddled even by love and sweet nothings.

It's only a matter of time before the true culprit of the forbidden fruit case reveals their face.

So I am unsure if I am blind, or if you simply mentioned it only in passing but what exactly is the Grimmkin incident? I know it's that a Grimmkin tried to kill fpk, but is there more to the story?

Hi, yes, I haven't mentioned it too many times, so it's very easy to miss it (though I included it in the AU summary post). But I can describe it again, no problem.

For some background. Grimm and his troupe used to travel between rituals a lot, they didn't stay in one place for too long, and during those travels they would perform their show, take part in public events and parties, and just generally enjoy their free time. For a troupe bound by an endless ritual of death and rebirth, it was quite a luxurious life - Grimm treated his troupe very well, he allowed them a lot of freedom and was more than happy to attend all those events himself.

But then FPK returned, and Grimm decided to settle down in Dirtmouth. This was something he hasn't done before, there was no single place where the troupe would stay between rituals. And with this new situation, there was another big shift - they still performed in other lands, but they would return to Dirtmouth soon after, giving them no time to enjoy themselves.

Some of the Grimmkin got used to it, some kept their frustration to themselves, but one of them has had enough of this boring life. They felt it was unfair to them and that they deserved better than what Grimm forced them into. So they decided that to get Grimm to leave, they had to get rid of FPK, since he was the one keeping their master glued to this old town. They waited until Grimm was away in the city, and decided to sneak into Grimm's tent, where FPK would often spend time waiting for Grimm to come back. It was clear that their plan was not well thought out, for one, they used a knife, thinking it would be the quietest option. This backfired, they managed to stab FPK, but they missed any vital organs, and instead of killing him swiftly they caused a big mess that quickly caught Brumm's attention. Then chaos ensued, FPK was wiggling on the floor crying in pain and clearly needed help right away, but the Grimmkin behind it still needed to be caught. Brumm managed to trap them and called for the rest of the troupe to hold them in place, before picking FPK up and taking him back home, so that his wound could be treated.

Luckily, Iselda saw him running through the town with FPK in his arms, and decided to help, which Hornet was more than thankful for since the sight of her father covered in blood and whining in pain was a lot for her to handle. Not long after, Grimm returned from the city, and could sniff the blood right away. Fearing the worst, he followed the blood trail leading to the house, but thankfully FPK's wound was already treated by that point and he was in stable condition. He spent some time next to him, angry at himself for letting this happen, and then redirected that rage towards the one who did it.

He returned to the troupe, looking for the Grimmkin who dared to hurt his beloved, and quickly dealt with them in front of the rest of the troupe. He didn't hold back, the troupe has never seen him this angry, but it was a good lesson not to ever mess with his family. After Grimm calmed down, he quickly returned home, leaving the Grimmkin to clean up the mess that was once one of their colleagues.

He spent day and night by FPK's bed, watching over him and making sure he's recovering safely. He visited Jiji to get medicine that would ease FPK's pain, prepared food for him to eat, and stayed close to him to make him feel safe. But his physical body was already breaking down at that point, Hornet couldn't endure watching him decay in front of her so she urged him to leave for a ritual, which he reluctantly did after he made sure FPK was safe.

Afterwards, things have slowly returned to normal, though it was clear that the event shook everyone involved. Grimm realized that he has in fact been mistreating the troupe, so he figured out a compromise that he then presented to the troupe - they were allowed to travel under the watch of someone Grimm entrusted, but had to return periodically so that their connection to The Nightmare King would not weaken. This gave them an opportunity to enjoy their old life again, while also allowing Grimm to stay with his family for as long as he wanted (though over time he started to join the troupe more often, both to wind down as well as to visit different markets and shops in other kingdoms).

FPK was quite shocked afterwards, suffering from intense trust issues for many months following the event, and to this day he's afraid of being left alone in the troupe tents for a long time. Luckily, Grimm has moved into their house not long after, so they could spend time together in a place where he felt safe. The knife wound wasn't deep, so it healed relatively quickly and didn't leave a visible scar. He was incredibly thankful to Iselda and Brumm for saving his life, and he became good friends with the former, and friends with the latter.

Holly would not stop following FPK around everywhere for a long time after the incident, and only stopped after he reassured them that it wasn't necessary. Lewk wasn't born yet at the time, so he only learned about the event long after it happened. Hornet realized that if her father died right there, she would never have a chance to show him that she does actually care about him (as up until that point she was still quite mean towards him), so she started put more effort into making it obvious that she's not indifferent to him or the rest of the family.

The whole event happened quite early in the timeline, not too long after FPK and Grimm's reunion, and these days, it's only rarely mentioned among the family or Dirtmouth as a whole. The Grimmkin have never betrayed Grimm again after that, and with his compromise they have no more reasons to complain. It certainly brought everyone together, but they were able to recover. Well, mostly. They still occasionally get nightmares that remind each of them about that day, and Grimm still can't forgive himself for letting it happen, even if FPK keeps telling him that it wasn't his fault.
