Tracing for fun (?) from Transformers Galaxies #6, for a friend, it seems. If I got traced art from a friend I think I’d drop them. But that’s whatever because
Bruh not SPECIFICALLY the ghost recon M40A5 render… why is the person gripping it by the bipod 😭 PLEASE
Edit: a friend noted, since that this image is flipped, the bolt handle (because this is a bolt action rifle) is on the wrong side. Incredible
Hey, different post than usual, but this is just a PSA for people who may follow or have purchased anything from @/kagebros, or are looking to join any of the zines run by them @/allsparkzines. They have a history (and present) of tracing for profit.
I don’t think this one requires an overlay. It’s a trace of the yolopark bumblebee shockwave model kit promotional image, as a “sketch”.
Which they changed, once people noticed it! Changed most of it. They traced a different promotional image for the gun, which remained largely the same, even in the final piece (right).
Their matching Optimus Prime poster is a trace of the still from a [ Paramount promo video ], 36 seconds in.
There are several other examples that I can’t fit into this post without making it overly long, but if you have purchased or have been gifted anything from them, there is a chance it has been traced.
Regarding tracing as a tool:
Go hogwild! Trace all you want! Tracing is a very useful tool for learning shapes and forms, but like any other tool, it’s only useful if you use it correctly. The ultimate goal of tracing is to understand. It’s training wheels. Just don’t hide and lie about it, because as soon as you do, it becomes plagiarism.
Even within the finished versions of the Shockwave poster, it’s still clear where parts have been traced or copied without understanding. It’s a shame, because transformers as a franchise having so many toys makes it very easy to make references!
Here's an example of how I use them:
Luckily for me, the Cybertron toys and models are more or less exactly the same. I don't own the toys, so I have two images from a [ toy reviewer ] on top. Many angles to help me understand exactly what's happening. Granted, I could just ask my friend who does own the toy for him in the same pose, but tracing over that directly would make it too stiff and it wouldn't mesh with my style.
TL;DR: Kage traces, blindly and without disclosure, for profit.
#kagebros#not art#sorry to bring this monster of a post back but#the bipod? why not the. I don’t know. the grip? grip the grip?#most m40a5s are equipped with swivel bipods iirc not sure if that’s the best way to hold it#and usually sniper rifles don’t have foregrips in the same way that#regular rifles do#the forestock is usually textured for this reason#sigh. the bipod doesn’t even look fun to hold. probably because it wasn’t made to be#world’s worst way to one hand a firearm#real shit tho copying the panel is... much different from copying a toy#but I don't think I need to tell you that#Also: I have you unblocked so if you wanna talk#feel free to dm me! i'm not wholly unreasonable#I'd love to hear what you have to say#tfcon#tfcon baltimore

I am sick and fucking tired of the fandomsphere's obsession with explicit canon. A character can be coded to hell and back and people will still refuse to acknowledge it unless the character looks directly into the camera and says "I'm [marginalized identity]."
The Spider-Verse movies made Peter B Parker Jewish and made Gwen Stacy trans. I don't give a shit if it's never said outright. It's canon. Peter B Parker has a Jewish wedding on-screen and shows off Hannukah bling in promotional material. He's Jewish. Gwen has a trans flag in her room and a trans-coded coming-out story that peaks with being cast in clear and intentional trans flag lighting. She's trans. Good on Spider-Verse for giving us solid representation without sacrificing time that should be spent on the characters' stories to bring explicit attention to their identities! The consequence is that you can't say he's Jewish or say she's trans in a public forum without having to pull out screenshots to prove your case.
Those are just two irksome examples from the same franchise, but this happens all the time across all fandom media. If you refuse to accept evidence and coding as proof, then you're perpetuating the idea that privileged identities are more normal and default than marginalized ones. Gwen shouldn't need to say "I'm trans" and Peter B shouldn't need to say "I'm Jewish" on-screen. No character should ever have to do that, because we never expect a character to reveal that they're canonically cisgender or goyishe.
#of course it's not lost on me that this happens with some identities more than others.#characters can have literal decades of Yiddishisms and Jewish coding baked into their characters and not be considered Jewish.#but if a character with darker skin says ¡Ay Dios mío! one single time they can be accepted as canonically Hispanic#i don't know what the difference is but if you have any theories I'd love to hear them

I wanted to add on to this ask done by an anon on ST confessions, because they are so right and they made something click in my brain. Do go read it before you read this.
First, off, heavy agree that Fall for Me is designed to be a lonely song, both lyrically, and quite smartly, musically. In every single other song Sleep Token has ever done there is music. There is noise, always. Even in times where there should be silence, there never is any. Instead, it's filled by sounds of birds, a taught guitar chord or chewing and biting.
Fall for Me, however, is utter silence. There's no musical reply. No SFX, no subtle drums or bass; no nothing. It's the one of the few songs (along with Missing Limbs, Take Aim and Drag me Under) in which Vessel directly addresses the love he holds for this person. It's not layered in metaphors, prose and an eloquent vernacular, it's straightforward. While his poetry in other songs is used to draw Them in, decorate his love and entice Them, he's done with getting nothing. He wants to be an equal, a lover, but he gets naught.
The reason why, other than the obvious choice of acapella instead of instruments, the song feels so lonely is because it's the only song- overall- that he doesn't get a response to. Sugar is the response to The Offering, Say That You Will is the response to Take Aim etc., but here? Cold, dead silence. No gesture in tongues, no crushing 'affection'; no nothing.
So, to the rhythm of eternity, he will be on that beach, stumbling, crawling and shouting out the same question that he will never get an answer to; won't you fall for me?
However, even though, unlike most songs that get an answer within their album, Vessel gets one in the next. Take Me Back To Eden, therefore, becomes the answer to that question. As well as Vessel's action against it.
@lifemod17 saw you reblog the ask as well, thought you might like this :]
#or rather Vessel attempting to gain an answer and in discovering that- because of the nature of Sleep- he will never become an equal#he finally understands that there is no point in trying for someone who is physically and mentally unable to comprehend giving him the ->#same power They have over him#and his response? His action? He breaks the bough. When I say TMBTE I mean not only the song but the whole album#it's kind of like when Cain kills his brother and he asks God 'Am I my brother's (humanity's) keeper?' and the rest of the Bible acts ->#as an answer to that question#do let me know if I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill though#also add your thoughts! i hate the fact the term karen went from describing a bitchy entitled customer to basically the modern day equivalent of calling a woman a harpy (misogynistic as fuck) and that people use the term on people out in public who are at the end of their rope emotionally from stress or a shitty day. I get it just because your having a rough time doesn't mean you get to be a dick but sometimes I think people are seriously lacking in empathy and I get it a lot shit the customer might be dealing with isn't your responsibility but like if a customer is struggling with something simple maybe don't be a dick? Just a thought.
#I'm so done with people calling customers with legitimate complaints/concerns Karen#If you messed up someone's order and they ask for a new one then fix it#What if they're on special diet for health reasons#What if they're practicing lent or are Muslim and you give them food that they can't have#What if the customer that's struggling with a simple self checkout has autism or something#People shouldn't have to give out these reasons unless they want to#Also corporations love to make customers out to be idiots and karens when they've seriously fucked up#Like that lady who got McDonald's coffee on her crotch suffered 3rd degree burns and was portrayed as an idiot/greedy#Don't be like that#ableism#misogny#Karen#I'm not kidding when I say it's becoming the modern day equivalent of calling a woman a harpy#Someone breaking down crying and freaking out in public can be annoying but maybe don't record them#Idk as someone with autism if someone recorded me having a meltdown or mocked me I'd be pissed#Even if they aren't mentally unwell no one deserves to bullied when they're at their own limit#Watch somebody call me a Karen for this#Like fight back against dickheads throwing temper tantrums but also don't be a bully#when you hear something about a Karen try and see if they are actually being a Karen or if they're just being put in a bad light#Like did they hit record after a bunch of harassment#cause thats happened

Hey you, shut your mouth and look at my paw! DON'T FORGET!! [Incomprehensible sped up gibberish] This... Journey... Money... Loads of coins. [Incomprehensible sped up gibberish] What-about-her? What-about-her? ... What-about-her? 'She still like me? [Quiet but mostly incomprehensible gibberish about subtitles] O P S O P N O-1 1. Here's the spell: Love the mermaid, for sure! The mermaid is HAPPY! Okay! It's pretty normal for a fish, right? Guuuyyyssss, beeeee caaarefuuulll wiiiiith theeee GIIIIIRRRRLSSS!!! [Incomprehensible] Oh! Silly! Oh yes! Lamb chop boy! [Incomprehensible] [Very quietly, while white noise is playing over it] Goood eevening, aand weeelcome too the shoooowww... [In the background] Ohhh, mooney!
#video#elevenlabs#i generated three versions of this video and basically spliced together the best parts from each one into one thing#and also toned down the flashing of the red and white pound signs to be a lot slower#i'm honestly surprised how well everything spliced together. i was expecting it to be even a little bit noticeable but. nope apparently not#i did a few generations of meet the spy's intro and tried to splice together the best bits but theres just so much happening with the audio#there's a lot of funny portions of that audio. maybe i'll try again at it and see if i cant get the parts i like in one thing#truthfully i also don't know how much folks'll like these. as in compared to around the time the infomaniac stuff was made#so i'm not sure how much of these i'll be putting together and uploading. mostly just been fucking around and showing my friends#i'm mostly just intrigued to hear what the ai tries to say with some of these generations#since it's just trying to translate from one language to another#in this case. providing videos in english. and setting the translation from russian to english.#which seems to be the best thing so far (that i've tried) that causes more of the words being said to be off-script#like it'll usually most be like whats originally being said mostly but other times it's completely different from the source#i think this dub shows it best. between ''hey you. shut your mouth and look at my paw!'' and ''love the mermaid. the mermaid is happy!!''#i am also officially out of characters to generate more so i won't really be doing more than what i've already done for a while#i wanted to try and give it a video that plays backwards. flip that. then let it dub over it forwards.#but i'd have to wait until i get the character limit reset

I put in my head that you're the main roger waters scholar so I always feel like I should come here with hypothesis to get your opinion. I read a comment somewhere saying that roger acts different if the interviewer is male or female. And since then I've been noticing that it actually seems true. He's usually much mellower with women and his usually acerbic humor is sillier. Have you ever notice a difference or have any thoughts on that?
Yes, I've noticed that difference too and found it interesting ("what do you mean interesting?"). I've heard him mention in interviews before that part of his therapy in the 80's was addressing his fear of women, which stuck out to me, because he usually seems so much more comfortable around them (although maybe it really is more of a recent development). What I think is happening here is that Roger's social anxiety displays itself in a different way around men vs. women. Going right to the roots of it, clearly he feels sensitive about the fact that he didn't grow up with a father figure, and I think he's internalized that in a way that makes him feel very defensive around other men. He feels the need to show dominance to make up for feeling like he doesn't know how to act, and it displays as him being, well, Roger. On the other hand, if "Mother" is any indication, he's a lot more used to acquiescing to women. He isn't as threatened when they tell him what to do, and he doesn't see their interactions as something he has to win. Snide remarks have been about him being overly influenced by his wives, which is informative if a bit biased. Obviously, neither his "fight" response with men or his "fawn" response with women is healthy, but it's probably why he lets his guard down more when women interview him.
#obviously include lots of asterisks about gender essentialism#like ofc you don't need a father to turn out fine. but I think it's something that he specifically has really deeply internalized#I'd love to hear what the other rogerologists have to say on this#my favorite part of roger is still that we have an entire album with a literal step-by-step explanation of why he's Like That#roger waters#asks

The reason people are really negative about things they "supposedly" like is because it turns out it's really easy to complain. It's too spicy; it feels to scratchy; the sound is grating -- these explain pretty quickly when something feels "off" or "bad," to the point that somebody who likes what you're describing will understand what you don't like, even if they think that it tastes/feels/sounds fine.
Meanwhile, on the other end, if you like something, it's a bit harder to convey why to others -- it tastes good; it feels nice; I like how it sounds -- if you're talking to somebody who already dislikes what you're describing, who has already decided it tastes/feels/sounds bad, they don't really get why you like the thing they've written off.
Just like most of conversing it's a muscle you have to work. You can get better at complimenting the things you like, & you can eventually convey the why & how.
Furthermore, there's nothing wrong with pointing out what you don't like in something you care about. Unfortunately, to people who can't see in your head, when they exclusively hear you gripe about something & rarely (if ever) compliment it, it comes across that you don't like it at all & wraps around to "There's no way this person will ever have fun when this thing is involved," or "Why do they talk about this so much? They clearly can't stand it."
This is not telling you to not complain -- complaining rocks, so keep on complaining. But you've got to learn how to talk positively about the things you like when other people around, because as fun as being a hater is, it kinda makes you a drag to be around when it's all you are.
#em.txt#hey. saw a post saying if you only complain it means you have no fun#I'd argue it's more that it's very acceptable to rag on something & feels fun. so people get in a loop of just that#because the other end is hard. compliments are hard. conveying what's good is hard. you can hear a negative point & regurgitate it easy#but formulating a positive point & telling about a positive point you've heard can miss the mark#this doesn't mean you don't like your thing. this is an appeal to unlearn the unkind spiral#this is an appeal to learn to say why you like things.#not for a dumb tumblr post but for you. for your sbility to converse & your loved ones.#& in the meantime I don't judge people who say negative things bc that would be pointless judgement for judgement 's sake

Going to bed. Tomorrow's Halloween! It'd be so nice though if I could finish the outline for the book I wanted to write in November. Don't know if I said it here, but I'm doing NaNoWriMo in November but like, not officially lol. Just a writing challenge with my sisters. I want to start something new. But, so far, my outline is so-so. I do have an outline for the sequel to this other book, but I just want to work on something new. Like a very self-indulgent paranormal romance or something like that.
#I want to query the next book I write too#I'd like to try traditional publishing next#Currently I have one SciFi novel out there in the querying trenches#but sometimes I feel like it's never going to find an agent#it's a stand-alone but that guy is hefty at 109k words#for a debut author that may scare away literary agents lol#I love self-publishing because of all the freedoms it offers#but I also want the benefits of traditional publishing#like having more reach#and being recognized as a writer#as in you may not people (esp family) immediately dismissing you as an author when they hear you are indie published#I've had family members immediately ask me how much money I make when I say I'm a writer after they ask what I do#Do I ask them hey how much money do you make? if they ever mention their job? Nope. Because that's a weird and intrusive thing to ask#writing#me#I want to keep self-publishing the books I know are very unlikely to find a home in the market lol#Like the one I linked The Crystal Conjurer#That one is admittedly not very good lol#It's wordy and the first book I ever wrote in English#so it might not just be wordy but also grammatically weird Idk lol#I know for sure the pacing is kinda slow and it's because this book was just something I wrote entirely for fun#I wasn't thinking about the market or attention spans when I wrote it#Just wanted to have fun

Sometimes it really is enough to say "that sucks, I'm sorry that's happening to you" rather than try to lecture someone or give advice tbh
#Just a little disappointed in myself for bringing up my woes with My People and not really receiving any support ...#Oh well it is what it is. I'm not that close with them anymore and I should know better#I need to find a therapist. I just find the whole getting paid to pretend to care about you very disconcerting#I'd love to talk to someone who DOES care but alas I do not have many of those who want to hear#It is difficult with my husband because it just upsets him too much and then he never actually says anything and I just want someone to#SAY SOMETHING to me#Like it's not answers I want it's just like 'that sucks' and 'they're stupid'

I don't know... horrible things happen all around the world and it's not a competition
Atrocities are committed against multiple groups in multiple parts of the world at the exact same moment, and none of them erase each other. They all matter, all the people in this world who are being brutalized matter. There shouldn't be any line you draw where one group doesn't actually matter as much as another
You're welcome to prioritize your energy towards helping one group or another, but what's not ok is invalidating or dismissing people who are actively being harmed
Same goes for trying to figure out which social group has things worst (and lets be honest, always using a US lens)
Like... maybe the important thing is to prop each other up and help everyone get on their own feet rather than trying to... pick fights about if physical disabilities or mental illness are less respected (I'm trying to pick a more absurd example but sadly I've seen exactly that argument happen before). Maybe it doesn't really matter and what matters is helping who we can when we can
I'm tired of it, I'm just fucking tired of it. Support people, champion them when the world is just brutalizing them, but you don't need to throw a single other person under the bus to do that
Which seems to be an absolutely impossible lesson for people to learn
#I won't say anything else on this; but I will say that to me one of the groups that it feels like is most forgotten is Syrians#including by me if I'm honest#I don't know what's currently happening in Syria... but... my understanding is it still hasn't really gotten better#assad is still brutalizing people last I had heard#so rather than saying anything else I'd prefer to simply focus on some people it feels like were forgotten back during Obama#and... and have remained forgotten#and I'm sorry I can't do more to help with the suffering in the world#but... you notice what I'm not having to do here?#I'm not having to throw a single other person under the bus#I'm able to just focus on how much I wish for Syrians to be ok (which is a hollow gesture on my part in many ways I think)#and I can keep all the focus on Syrians rather than throwing anyone else under the bus or doing any whataboutism#and that's literally all I'm asking of you fucking people#don't downplay human misery to try and make your thing seem more important#they're both fucking important... they're all important#there's so much suffering I can't even keep up with it#there's so much of it that I can only name without knowing the details; Congo; I believe Sudan is still suffering; Haiti#I don't know how things are in Ethiopia right now... I can't keep track#and none of these situations and the horrible things they're dealing with; things I haven't even been able to follow#none of it detracts from and of the issues I am following more closely#I don't need to compare them and say 'well it's not as bad'; because... bad is bad and any is too much#and nothing I say here will do a damn thing; no one'll hear and even if they did they'd ignore it or get pissed#that's what my evidence shows me about how people behave#but suffering isn't a competition; the correct amount is zero#and... perhaps I'd have more tolerance if I hadn't watched how you behave with stuff#...the worst part is the person I adore who... man... I wish I could just get them to really think through their words#they mean well; they're coming from a place of love; but I just haven't been able to paint the picture for them of the harm#and I'm flawed; I don't have all the answers; I could be wrong here#but... can you at least see why I feel that maybe we shouldn't pit misery against each other#that the people suffering have more in common with each other than opposed and... maybe westerners aren't fucking helping#eh... too fucking drained thinking about this; end of tags

the thing is. the writers did include dialog of Ganondorf calling rawru out for descending from the heavens and taking over hyrule. thus basically undermining his legitimacy as king
like. it's in the game. is the issue handled well? no. after all it is the Evil Guy From The Desert Whom No One Should Side With spouting the anticolonialist rhetoric. like yeah that definitely sucks but. hey at least the talking point exists in canon.
no like, hey someone actually told a king of hyrule to his face that he had no business ruling anything and like. c'mon it's just too good I can't just leave it there
and like for that reason I'd be hard pressed to fault anyone for seeing rawru as a Nasty Self-Important Colonizer Who Made Hyrule Bad. Does the game actually want you to perceive him that way? probably not, you're supposed to side with him, definitely. butttttt what if I don't want to, yknow. what if I want to despise him a little. as a treat.
and like. Ganondorf is probably definitely trying to weaponize resentment against the Zonai rule to further his own destructive, self-obsessed agenda for sure. aaaannd once again I sure would have enjoyed it if characters that aren't evil got to question rawru's legitimacy butttt it's a Zelda game so nope nope nope all sages from every race agree with and defer to king rawru because they're good boys and girls nothing to see here :)
shit the more I think abt this the more mad I become whew good thing zelder is abolishing the monarchy right
#rawru hate tag#tears of the kondom#tho Im not even sure I'd call what Rawru did colonialism given that it's just him and his sister like#they don't have a whole ass nation that they're loyal to. like. can you do a colonialisation if there's just two of you?#they did a Road To El Dorado#that being said actually mineru is cool I like her she is allowed on hyrule#funnily enough I probably wouldn't have minded rawru if it weren't for what Ganondorf said#but he said the thing WHICH MEANS on some level the writers realize that you can direct some amount of criticism against rawru lmao#would love to hear what the sage of thunder had to say about Ganondorf and what her reasoning for siding with rawru was#would love to hear from any sage really#UGHHHH each and every species and ethnic group is just destined to serve the crown forever bleeehhhhhh#this is why I joined the yiga clan#totk spoilers
